While damage is significant in leveling quickly, Hardcore puts an unusual emphasis on survivability. This list will cover the best specs and talents for surviving in Azeroth until level 60, even if this means sacrificing some damage or utility. And while certain classes outrank others no matter the spec, we will showcase 5 highly viable Hardcore builds per class.

5. Discipline Priest

Discipline Priests are very resource-efficient and have a ton of utility and an unparalleled healing kit, making them great solo performers and easy to find a dungeon group with.

This build focuses on the Holy talent tree as a subspec, allowing you to perform better in extended fights and offer amazing healing to yourself and your dungeon party. What makes Priests efficient in Hardcore leveling is their Wand Specialization, which can be maxed out at level 14, giving you an additional 25% damage to wands, allowing you to save resources from offensive spells and use them for sustenance.

You’ll also have improved effectiveness with shielding spells. Instant-cast sustain spells are incredibly useful to avoid death at all costs.

Choose This Build If:

You value sustain before damage

Priests are built to serve! You’ll have healing and shielding in abundance, which can help you get out of sticky situations, helping you survive until you lose aggro.

You like to find dungeon groups easily

Healers will always have an advantage when finding HC dungeon groups, especially priests, offering health buffs and competitive healing.

You want to save mana from offensive spells

Wands offer you the luxury of mostly staying above 70% mana. This is massive since most HC deaths occur from unexpected situations that require healing.

You don’t mind a less dynamic playstyle

Their CC can be disgusting, allowing them to kite enemies even better than some ranged classes and heal using First Aid during combat. A rich kit, allowing you to make a lot of clutch plays and memorable victories.

Choose This Build If:

You want more freedom when questing

Stealth is broken in Hardcore, especially when it comes to quests that require you to collect items. At the very least, you’ll be able to scout if a quest is doable safely.

You’re looking for a high-damage pick

Rogues can deal a crazy amount of damage while also not being as weapon-dependant as Warriors or Paladins.

You’re looking for a challenge

Rogues have a lot of outplay potential, but it’s a class that needs practice. Take your time to learn the spell rotations and how your combo points work.

Build details:

Focusing on your Combat talent tree gives you better chances of survival due to talents like Deflection and Endurance, improving your Parry chance and Evasion skill, respectively. Improved Spring is an actual lifesaver too

Race

While humans are considered the best late-game Rogues, in leveling, they don’t bring much to the table. This makes Gnomes and Dwarves the best HC Rogues, offering Stoneform and Escape Artist to the mix, respectively, greatly improving your chances of survival.

On the Horde side, Trolls perform very well because of their Regeneration and Berserking racials.

Skills

Be extra careful before getting your Vanish at 22. You have a lot of room for mistakes afterward. Take full advantage of Evasion, and always have it up in dangerous areas. Spring will save your life. Gouge is one of your most important spells as it allows you to, essentially, permanently kite. Use it to stun enemies while in combat to heal up with bandages.

Items

Leather armor gives you relatively good defenses, along with Agility - your most important stat. You’ll want to prioritize daggers, although a very good one-hander will work if it’s a good upgrade. Make sure you’re up to date with your class quests because poisons make a huge difference to your damage; just be careful because some of the Rogue class quests can be deadly.

3. Frost Mage

The gods of power-leveling. Mages are the only Classic class that can safely AoE level to 60; however, this build will focus more on single-target damage and defense. Sorry to be a party killer.

Frost Mages have unmatched utility and the ability to CC multiple targets at once. They’re the ultimate solo levelers due to their fantastic mobility and great damage output. Similar to Rogues, they are hard to play to their full potential, though.

Choose This Build If:

You want to skip some quests and make it up with AoE farming

Despite this build not being optimal for AoE farming, you’ll still be able to use your Frost Nova + Flamestrike + Arcane Explosion while enjoying relative safety.

You’re looking to save gold

Conjuring your food and drink saves a lot of money in the long run, so you’ll have more to spend on spells and a mount.

Blink

Need I say more? The ultimate mobility skill. Be careful until you get it at level 20.

You need CC to survive

Controlling your enemy’s mobility is just as important as having mobility. Frost Mages excel in sustained mobility with slows, freezes, and Polymorphs.

Build details:

This build focuses on Shatter, a passive skill making your critical chance very high against frozen targets, thus encouraging CC and a safer playstyle

The Arcane subspec grants you better protection and resource management

Ice Block is essential for survival and reorganizing your thoughts and cooldowns in the heat of battle - the Frost tree allows you to have more and better Ice Blocks

Race

For Mage, you only have 2 viable options. Gnome, for their +5% bonus to Intellect (and Escape Artist racial skill), and of course, Trolls for Berserking.

Skills

Your kit is extremely diverse, making Mages so difficult to operate. Your rotation is predominantly focused around your Frostbolt, which you should have a Tier 1 keybind for, as it’s an easier way to proc Frostbite with. Frost Nova + Blink is your go-to escape. If you’re ever in unmanageable trouble, Cold Snap can reset most of your Frost CDs.

Remember also to use Polymorph when fighting multiple mobs or want to skip certain mob fights. Additionally, it doesn’t have to always have Mana Shield on when walking around the world, just in case. Pop Dampen Magic when fighting spell-casters.

Items

Mages don’t really scale well with Spirit, so you should prioritize Intellect and Stamina. Wands can definitely help when you need to save your mana, so having a relatively effective wand is recommended.

2. Demonology Warlock

Warlocks are the gods of resource management due to their ability to mold their Health and Mana bars into one, replenishing both with a wide array of sustaining abilities, and hard CC, all while staying safe behind their demons.

Demonology Warlocks increase their chances of survival in the Hardcore challenge as their protective barrier becomes stronger. At the sacrifice of some damage, Demonology is indubitably one of the best specs for HC.

Choose This Build If:

You want an extra layer of protection and sustain

Your demons are surprisingly strong combat units, even being able to taunt enemies and soak damage which you heal back up.

You want to solo seemingly impossible content

Your minions, combined with Healthstones and a pool of theoretically infinite mana, allow you to last in extended fights and often come on top.

You’re looking for great CC and cheese-ability

Your Fear ability is great for cheesing difficult quests or escaping danger.

Build details:

Better Healthstones and total health for both you and your pets
More effective demon abilities, which is huge, as you want your Voidwalker to taunt and retain aggro effectively
Good DoT damage, despite not speccing for Affliction

Race

Gnomes are once again the undisputed winners. Their +5% Intellect bonus is reason enough, but the ability to escape movement-impairing effects seals the deal. On the Horde side of things, Orcs and Undead both work, as they both have racials that deal with CC, yet Orcs will always deal more damage.

Skills

Always have a Healthstone in your inventory. Trust me; I learned this the hard way.

Fear is your best friend; just be careful that the feared enemy doesn’t pull unwanted guests. You can reach level 60 with your Voidwaler alone, but you must keep him alive and well. Health Funnel and Life Tap are spells you’ll use often, so be mindful of your health and use Drain Life to top up.

Items

Similar to a Mage, you’ll want to stack Intellect and Stamina. Wands are useful, as well, and most preferred as you don’t want to pull aggro from your Voidwalker due to dealing too much damage.

1. Beastmaster Hunter

The best kiters in the game, Hunters are the best class for Hardcore Classic WoW, period. They have their own personal tanks (pets) that scale independently from gear, giving them immense DPS, tankiness, and utility.

If you’re just starting out with HC WoW, Hunters are the safest pick, especially with this build, which doubles down on pets who can carry you all the way up to 60.

Choose This Build If:

You’re looking for long-range kiting

Hunters have unparalleled kiting, which is a huge advantage in the Hardcore challenge. You can deal with very difficult mobs with relative ease and walk away unharmed.

You want to play HC in easy mode

Well, I might be exaggerating a bit, but Hunters are the easiest class to level to 60 without dying, by far. Pick a BM hunter if you’re new and need more room for mistakes.

You don’t want to lose out on damage

Unlike Warlocks, speccing towards pet effectiveness doesn’t decrease damage as much. You’ll soon discover that pets are more dangerous than you’d think, not only keeping you safe but destroying enemies.

Build details:

Right from the start, your pets’ health and armor will be increased through Endurance Training and Thick Hide, making them very bulky, and you - very safe
Subspeccing into Marksmanship will greatly increase your kiting capabilities, as well as add to your personal damage output
Pathfinding is a wonderful talent for increasing your movement speed before 40, making a huge impact on your progress
A very pet-dependent build, so make sure to keep your pets alive or revive them as quickly as possible in the event of their death

Race

Regarding Horde, it’s a close call between Trolls and Orcs, so it’s really your call, as they’re both damage-oriented races. Alliance poses a dilemma, however. Normally, Dwarves are preferable because of their Stoneform. Still, Night Elves have Shadowmeld, allowing them to go invisible after Feign Death, wait for their Feign Death CD to come back up, and run away to guarantee their safety.

Skills

Feign Death allows you to leave combat on command - an incredibly important skill for HC. Your tracking abilities also allow you to spot enemies that might otherwise overwhelm you. Aspect of the Monkey is a great protective measure when getting chased, while Aspect of the Cheetah is your bread and butter for running around the world.

A good hunter knows how to utilize their traps for maximum utility while simultaneously maximizing damage output. Finally, as a Beastmaster, your Bestial Wrath is immensely powerful and can be activated on a relatively low cooldown.

Items

You’ll rarely use melee weapons, so pick ones with higher stats rather than higher DPS. Find a good DPS ranged weapon, and stack agility and stamina when it comes to armor.

These builds can help you redefine your immersion of the game ranging from having a Stealth-based play through a loud and action-packed Combat-based playthrough.

5. Gadgets Build

T.R.A.C.K. Suit

First up, just as the name suggests, we have the Gadgets Build. I aptly named that because during your combat or your exploration playthrough, you’ll be able to utilize most of the gadgets that you have in your arsenal that can help you when faced with encounters.

If you want to tinkle around and play with the gadgets? This build is the best bet to go. This would enable you to perform Stealth Takedowns (which would regenerate your Camouflage meter) via the use of gadgets or have some fun combating Underground or Roxxon enemies while “tinkering” with gadgets mid-combat. (Pun-intended)

Use This Build If… :

You want to play around with gadgets mid-combat.
You want to have a Stealthier Approach during Encounters.
You do not want to run out of supplies and keep replenishing them.

Some opponents will have their guard broken or take damage only by Venom Powers so this build can come in VERY handy to deal with those issues!

Use This Build If…:

You want to utilize your Venom Powers to their fullest extent.
You want to overwhelm your enemies with everything you’ve got.
You want to show off some Venom flair mid-combat.

Build Details:

S.T.R.I.K.E. Suit is recommended.
Residual Venom and Perfect Sight Visor Mods are advised.
Hidden Fury and Power Transfer Suit Mods are recommended.
Dependent on the usage of Residual Venom.
Increased perfect Dodge Window.
Attacks fill the Camo bar faster.
Which in turn converts the Camo Bar into Venom Power.
Attacks and Webs fill Camo quickly.
Trigger Camo then Blinding Light immediately to get a half-bar of Venom.
After Venom attacks, collect the orbs to get the Venom back.

3. Anti-Underground Build

Programmable Matter Suit.

Now, third on the list is the Anti-Underground Build and this will come in handy if you’re looking to whoop some Underground forces ass quickly and in an efficient manner as possible.

Since the Underground has got some highly advanced tech, thanks to The Tinkerer, this can prove all the more deadly to Miles, so this build would act as the perfect counter for all that!

Use This Build If…:

You’re overwhelmed by the fast attacks of the Underground forces and you want to counter them.
You’re just generally done seeing Underground enemies on the map.
You want to dodge their attacks with perfect timing

Build Details:

Programmable Matter Suit is advised.
Perfect Sight and Threat Sensors Visor Mods are recommended.
Venom Momentum and Power Transfer Suit Mods are advised.
Increased Perfect Dodge Window.
More Perfect Dodge Slowdown.
Venom Stun on 6th hit.
Convert Camo Bar into Venom.
This build would give dodge help against their lightning-fast attacks, more Venom Stun to shatter weapons, and more Venom Bar for Underground Sword/Whip and Brute enemies.

These choices are not to be made without haste, as each ability you choose can affect what enemies and path you will be able to follow the changes of with the best ease. Which builds will lead you to the greatest trophy victories, protect you from the evils of the Globe? We list the top 5 OP Builds for your witch in shining armor, Geralt.

After you’ve fought your first griffin, you’ll come to realize just how important hand to hand combat can be in this game….or how exceptionally cool it can look when mastered. With this build any foe, even The Toad Prince himself, will be afraid.

PSA: Some of this build does require the Blood and Wine DLC to complete, but you can mix and match in the missing pieces if you just have the original game. The main issue with this build is that it requires a real expert to fully utilize: it deals tremendous damage potential, but causes you to be easily killed. So you need to be very good at avoiding damage. This is definitely a build that requires liberal use of Quen to succeed.

What Full Combat Build excels in:

Takes advantage of new skills and techniques unlocked by the Blood and Wine DLC
This build takes skills almost exclusively from the combat tree, giving you the most dealable damage possible
Unlocks alchemy through the fantastic Synergy skill, which increases the attack power that this build provides (from 140% to 210%!)
The powerful Bloodbath mutation, which - like the build itself - rewards evading damage with mountains of attack power
Takes advantage of serious players abilities to handle combat situations

Choose the Full Combat build if:

You are an experienced player who can handle avoiding damage
You willing to fulfill one or a few of the treasure quests for the Bear/Ursine armor set, an armor set that is unmatched in its ability to soak up damage and provide excellent armor stats and resistance bonuses across the board
The Ursine armor set will also give you an extremely strong bonus to your Quen sign usage if you upgrade it all the way
Add to that some strong Adrenaline Point gain bonuses with each piece you equip, and this gear set will also enable you to hit like a truck (or, indeed, a bear) once you get stuck into the fight
Have access to the Blood and Wine DLC
Tend to shy away from more alchemy and sign related strengths in your playstyle

What Signs & Magic Build Excels In:

Large Igni bonuses make fire hurt more and can cause continuous burning effects on critical hits
Firestream ability is very good for dealing with shield users, as Firestream makes them permanently drop their shields after a few seconds of burning them
Quen Intensity Improved massively in your Quen sign, tank more damage, heal more from active shield, bigger damage from explosive shield etc
Quen Discharged maxed, which in New Game+ may not work on all enemies but similarly to Yrden trap, some enemies are still vulnerable to it, and when the skill works, it basically doubles the regular damage of Quen explosion
Trade for some signs in the form of survivability helps with some more difficult battles

You are willing to undergo side quests to get the Griffin armor set, an armor set that adds decent buff to sign intensity with each equipped piece

10. The Mighty Archer Build

The archer has been the worse subclass in DAO. They are useless and pretty much everything can beat them. This build will not only allow you to survive during the worst fights but will also make you much more powerful. You won't ever complain about the archer's weakness.

The living proof that the archer can be op and fun is this build. Don't give up on it yet.

Why the Mighty Archer Build is Great:

It will bring back the power of our long-forgotten archer. If you think the archer will never be a good subclass, this is how I prove you wrong.
Rediscover the true lethal power of the archer by just knowing how to build it correctly. With this build, you won't lose a single fight and I bet it will be much more challenging than playing with any of the other subclasses.
This build will allow you to pass the game in Nightmare difficulty with no big issues. Just be careful with the placement of your character in the fight.

Choose This Build if:

You're looking for a challenge worth your time.
You want to play with an archer but you keep feeling as if it was weak and worthless.

Build details:

Far Song Bow (Prefer Fire Arrow/Arrow of Filth). If not available choose Sorrows of Arlathan.
Ancient Elven Helm, Gloves, Armor, and Boots.

9. Berserk/Champion Warrior Build

A magnificent build for pure damage. This build will put your warrior on another level. It’s designed for a Berserk/Champion combination. You can still choose a different secondary subclass, like Templar. If you're going into a Nightmare playthrough, this is for you.

You should have into consideration that the attributes you choose for your champ will make a huge difference. Prefer Strength over the rest. A little bit of Willpower will make it even better.

This build is great because:

It will allow you to play aggressively. You will take huge amounts of damage with a high percentage of survival.
I assure you will not die if you play this right. Great combination of power. The armor will give even more stats like Willpower and will reduce fatigue.
You get to play with one of the most entertaining classes without failing the attempt.

Build details:

Starfang is your first option. If not available, use the Chasind Great Maul.
Diligence armor, Gloves, and Boots.
Griffon's Helm.
Andrulis' Blessing Belt. (For the accessories, you are free to choose whatever you think combines better. Still, the Belt will be a great boost if you have it).
Spellward Amulet.

8. Shield Warrior Build

As a Shield Warrior, your main objective is to resist damage and keep yourself alive. For this purpose, you will use a Champion/Templar subclass. Remember those are the best classes for tank characters. If you're going damage prefer the Berserk-Reaver down below.

Again, for Nightmare difficulty, this will be a total boost. You will have it pretty easy and I'm sure you'll be amazed. I truly love this build, it made me appreciate my warrior so much. I was having a bad time with the tank Warrior until I found this build.

Why the Shield Warrior Build is great:

It's consistent and will grant you the best stats for this champion.
I believe it is quite broken and not expensive at all. Most items you’ll get during quests.
If you’re not used to playing as a Shield Warrior this build is a great way to go. I guarantee you’re going to have an amazing time while learning how to use it.

Choose this build if:

You're willing to take huge amounts of damage and lead your team to victory with no big issues.
You’re playing as a Champion/Templar. Otherwise, it won’t work at its best.

Build details:

Dumat's Spine. My absolute favorite. A different choice could be Frenzy.
Large Grey Warden Shield. You can change this option according to your preferences.
Grey Warden Armor Set.
Use the Mark of the Divine Ring and the Ring of the Warrior.
The rest of the accessories are free of choice.

7. Arcane Warrior Build

Probably the deadliest thing in the whole game. This champ is just crazy. I believe nothing can beat the Arcane Warrior. Especially with this build. It will grant you extreme power ability and your basic attack will no longer do any damage. As a mage, we’re used to playing only with our spells since basic attacks don’t do damage.

This build is great because:

It will make you unbeatable. You will not die if you know how to play your warrior with the right spells.
You will do so much damage due to your basic attacks being very powerful.
With this build and class, you can forget about being a vulnerable mage and experience a different type of playthrough for a mage.
It makes powerful the already super-powerful arcane warrior.

Choose this build if:

You like to play mages but you want them NOT to die just for once. Even in melee combat.
You want to be invincible no matter your position in the battle.
You’re willing to replace the usual version of the defensive mage with a tank mage.

Build Details:

Prefer the Spellweaver which was designed for the Arcane Warrior specially and give it a Shield if possible.
Helm of the Honneleath or The Libertarian's Cowl.
The Felon's Coat or the Reaper's Vestments for Armor.
Gloves of the Legion or Ashen Gloves.
Magus War Boots or Cailan's Greaves.

6. Dual-Wield Assassin Rogue

The Assassin is probably one of the most fun subclasses to play in DAO. I always have so much fun with this kind of character. Keep in mind you have to be paying attention to your rogue in order not to lose control of it. Leaving the rogue to the AI will always be a huge mistake. Unless you prepared your tactics in the exact order.

Why the Dual-Wield Assassin Rogue is great:

An amazing build that will provide you with great critical damage and DPS. The Rogues always deal with the highest amount of DPS due to the fast basic attacks and their lethality skills.
This is perfectly designed for a Nightmare campaign. It is strong but not invincible. You still have to make tons of pauses to reposition your character and use your talents in the right way.
It’s perfectly balanced for a challenging playthrough. To me the most entertaining thing to play.

Choose this build if:

You’re willing to backstab your enemies and solo them with a perfect combination of skills and items.
Don’t think this will be easy, it will be hard. The Rogue is the most complex character to play, remember that. You have to be willing to learn how to play this with the right tactics.
You like to focus on your own character. You can’t lose sight of the rogue, doesn’t matter if it’s your character or part of your party members. Always keep an eye on the rogue.

Build Details:

The Edge (DLC addition) - The Rose’s Thorn, the best dagger in the game.
Thorn of the Dead God or Fang.
Battledress of the Provocateur or The Felon’s Coat for chest.
Helm of the Honnleath.
Red Jenny Seekers.
Cadash Stompers.
Optional: if you think it's best you might want to use the Ancient Elven set.

5. Mage Build

I’m about to expose the best items you can find for any mage. This build will also work for the Arcane Warrior but prefer to use it with a non-Arcane Warrior since it already has the Spellweaver and a bunch of better options that will make it stronger than other mages. I recommend you use this build for the mage that will not be melee and will not be facing the enemy in battle. As you already know, Arcane Warrior can tank some damage meanwhile the other mages can’t. This is why I insist on not giving this build to the arcane warrior.

Why the Mage Build is great:

It’s pretty much the best you will find for a regular Mage, in Nightmare difficulty is a must. You’ll probably not make it without the following items.
Mages can be overpowered but
There are no better items than these.

Choose this build if:

You’re not playing as a Blood Mage and Arcane Warrior. It works for them too but there are better items for the mentioned subclasses.
You want to get all the juice out of a classic mage. You might want to take this build to face the Archdemon.

Build Details:

Staff of the Lord Magister or Magister’s Staff.
The Libertarian’s Cowl.
Silk Weave Gloves.
Vestment of the Seer.
Fade Striders.

4. Templar Warrior Build

This is a build designed to do high amounts of damage and resist some more. I usually prefer to use it with a Berserk/Templar combination, it can also work as Reaver but not so well. Reaver is just more damage to the damage. Instead, Templar will give you resistance, which combines very well with Berserk's abilities.

This build is just fascinating because:

It works very well with every two-handed warrior. No matter the subclass you choose. You can try different combinations and see their power with the strongest equipment in the game.
It’s the best gear. You must try it. I assure you will have a great time while doing it.
Is super fun to play. Berserk will be my forever favorite and this build makes it perfect. It will also look stunning in its great armor.

Choose this build if:

You’re playing a deadly two-handed warrior and if you have the coin for it. It is a bit expensive.

Build Details:

Chasind Great Maul or Nug Crusher. If you’re playing Witch Hunt (DLC) you will have the Dragonbone Cleaver.
Warden-Commander Set or Blood Dragon Set.
Andruil’s Blessing Belt.
You might want to replace the gloves for Katriel’s Gasp.

3. Dual Wield Warrior Build

For this build, I would recommend playing it as berserk but that is up to you. This is my favorite combination of items and subclasses and I believe it's one of the most broken. Berserk-Reaver is how I like to play it. Give it a try if you're feeling the adrenaline flowing in your veins.

It's a great build because:

It brings to life the two underrated subclass Berserk-Reaver. As I said you can still choose a different subclass option but I believe it was meant to be for Berserk.
You will survive the most difficult encounters and enjoy deeply your powerful warrior.
It’s perfect for any battles you might face.

Choose this build if:

You're willing to play Nightmare difficulty without suffering and dying several times in combat.

Build Details:

Blightblood Sword and Keening Blade. If not available go for The Veshialle/Starfang and The Edge/The Rose's Thorn
Cailan's set.
A second choice will be the Diligence set with Griffon's Helm.

2. Blood-Arcane Warrior Mage Combo Build

I love this combination but it gets boring because you’re too much for the enemy's power level. You will not die and you will destroy them. The only problem with it is that you will have to play a campaign where your decisions are going to be morally wrong. That will lead you to the disapproval of some of your party companions such as Wynne and Leliana. Be careful cause they might even decide to leave you.

Why the Blood-Arcane Warrior Build is great:

There’s no chance of losing a single fight with this gear and subclass combination. This explains pretty much everything, you have it all in just one character.
You can even solo the whole game with it. Yes, that’s how powerful it is.
It’s beyond broken. The most powerful combination in the game.

Choose this build if:

You’re willing to risk your companions leaving. If you want to play as a rebel-crazy mage which might be the funniest campaign in the game, this is for you.

Build Details:

Final Reason in early game. Spellweaver once you get it. Provide a Shield for it once you get the Spellweaver.
Dragon Bone Plate armor set or Dragon Blood Armor Set.
Helm of the Honnleath.
Robes of Avernus.
Elementalist’s Grasp.
Magus War Boots.

1. Pure Blood Mage Build

This is the definitive build for a Blood Mage, my personal favorite. It works with any other secondary subclass but not for the Arcane Warrior. Of course, is not as strong as the Arcane Warrior as we’ve already pointed out before. The Arcane Warrior will forever be the most broken subclass in the whole game. But is not as fun to play as the usual mages. Especially not as fun as the blood mage.

Why the Blood Mage Build is great:

You will understand why everybody in the game is afraid of Blood Mages. I believe this is the best experience you might have since these mages aren’t usual and they’re pretty hard to use.
You have to create an equilibrium between power and health. Unlike the Arcane Warrior who will have plenty of life to use, the rest of the mages are quite vulnerable.
This is really fun to play and it will give a good look to your mage.

Choose this build if:

You want a Blood Mage real challenge.
You’re taking a nightmare campaign as a mage. In the beginning, it can be weak but in the late game is really strong.
You’re willing to lose some of your companion's sympathy.
You have the coin to buy the gear. Remember is expensive.

Build Details:

Corrupted Magister Staff/Malign Staff. Keep in mind that the Staff of the Magister Lord will continue to be the best but it’s very expensive.
Vestments of the Seer as your first choice. The secondary are Avernus Robes or Reaper’s Vestments.
Lifedrinker Amulet.
Lifegiver Ring.
Sash of Forbidden Secrets Belt.
Blood Ring.
Ashen Gloves.
Fade Striders.
Collective Arming Cowl.

Whether you’re completing a regular playthrough, or taking the leap and playing on Critical Mode, you may have wondered what the best loadout to have would be. This article will go into detail about the best builds, what situations they can be used in, and how to obtain the weapons, accessories, and/or abilities that make them up.

5. Beginner's Build

This build is perfect for those who are just starting out in the game and want to maximize their damage and abilities as early-on as possible. Chances are, if you’ve already started the game, you’ve made it to (or past) the point where you choose your Desire and Power. Below is what we recommend for the best beginner’s build.

Beginner Build Details:

For your starting Desire, you’re going to want to choose Vitality. This ensures that you have lots of health from the start—allowing you to take some of the heavier hits without suffering much of the repercussions.
For your Power, you’ll want to go with Guardian. Like Vitality, this will negate some of the heavy hits from mobs and bosses.
In terms of skills, the best to have under your belt is Once More (earned at Lv. 4) and Second Chance (lv. 30).
The rest, like weapons and accessories, is going to be very fluid depending on which area you’re in. Pay extra attention to the buffs that different accessories give you, and use them accordingly!

What's great about the Beginner's Build:

Easier progression using aforementioned Desire and Power
Perfect for those who are just starting out—or who want to re-do their first try with more efficient choices
If you prefer enjoying the story rather than struggling through mob and boss fights, this is the build to use!

4. Progression Build

Whether you’ve followed the build above and now want to speed things up even further, or if you’re a completionist, look no further! The Progression Build is one that will help you slice through Heartless and Nobodies like, well, nobody’s business. This is basically an upgraded form of the Beginner’s Build, once you’ve gotten the hang of the ropes!

Progression Build details:

The three most important keyblades for this build are:
- Hero's Origin
  - The counters on this weapon are totally OP.
- Ever After
  - Leaf Bracer and Aerosa? Count me in.
- Favorite Deputy
  - Equipped ability Lucky Strike will speed up material gathering, allowing you to synthesize and craft like crazy!
Accessory-wise, you’re going to want ones that prioritize giving you AP. The more AP you have, the more abilities you’ll have under your belt!
Otherwise, you can go with the following for their default abilities:
- Wisdom Ring (Wizard’s Ruse, which recovers HP from casting skills)
- Rune Ring
- Laughter Pin

What's great about the Progression Build:

Good for quickly discovering and gathering materials for crafting/synthesizing
Perfect for those who want to speed up their gameplay
Completionists will love this build!

3. End-Game Build

Congratulations, you’ve made it to (or near) KH3’s endgame! Whether you want to re-experience boss fights, or take on some Data bosses, this build will be the most OP for you.

End-Game Build details:

The top 3 Keyblades to use for endgame are the following:
- Ultima Weapon
- Oathkeeper
- Oblivion
These aren’t really ordered in any sort of way–as in, they’d all be fantastic to use! We all know the Ultima Weapon is the best Keyblade in general, but they’re absolutely interchangeable depending on your needs. All of the above have great shotlocks, passive abilities, and formchanges.
Gear-wise, you might already have an idea of what your loadout is:
- Royal Ribbon
- Ribbon
- Petite Ribbon
  - Having these equipped will provide you with more than enough negation effects, as well as 66% resistance to every element in the game. And you get +9 Defense on top of it all! It’s irresistible!
For accessories, you’ll want to have the following:
- Crystal Regalia+
- Flanniversary Badge
- Mickey Clasp
  - You’ll have Endless Magic, 80% MP Recovery, and Magic Combo Thrift with these accessories. Say goodbye to MP worries, and hello to essentially-endless Damage Spell casting!

Why the End-Game Build is great:

66% Resistance to all Elements in the game
Extremely high defense
Endless Magic + Magic Combo Thrift makes for insane spellcasting
Lots of damage mitigation
An absolutely OP build!

2. The Supermage Build

Ever wanted to be akin to Sorcerer Mickey? Here’s your chance! These other builds—while they have had a little bit of focus on magic skills—have otherwise prioritized combos and melee-type attacks. With the Supermage build, you’ll be blasting enemies with all the spells under the moon—you’ll be absolutely unstoppable!

Supermage Build Details:

Depending on your knowledge of the game, you might have an idea of what might be here. Here’s your weapon loadout:
- Fully-leveled Classic Tone (you’ll get 3 MP Hastes!)
- Ultima Weapon (of course)
- Ever After (a magic-focused keyblade, of course!)
  - These Keyblades maximize MP outputs, giving you the optimal magic loadout!
Armor-wise, here’s the best way to go about it:
- Ribbon
- Royal Ribbon
- Cosmic Chain
  - Here, you’re getting 66% resistance to all elements (except dark, which rests at a solid 58%)
  - On top of that, you get +12 defense, so you’re still getting that tankiness!
And last but not least, we’ve got accessories!
- Flanniversary Badge
- Crystal Regalia
- Mickey Clasp
  - Truthfully, this may look very similar to other builds in this list—but that’s because the other builds are trying to maximize MP and MP recovery while maintaining a tanky/warrior-like build.
  - With these accessories, you’re getting that same maximization, except you already have all the MP abilities! You’ll have +12 strength, and +14 magic with these equipped
  - Talk about OP!

1. Critical Mode Build

Beating Critical Mode is a huge feat, and while many people have different concepts for what the best Critical Mode Build is, here’s what we’ve found to be the best and most efficient!

Critical Mode Build details:

For your starting Desire and Power, Wisdom and Guardian are great choices.
- Wisdom provides you with ample MP
- Guardian unlocks extremely useful abilities for keeping Sora alive (Once More and Second Chance, as was mentioned in the Beginner Build as well).
Keyblade-wise, it’s a bit of a hot debate between Ultima Weapon and Ever After.
- Ultima Weapon has a base magic stat of 3, while Ever After has +6. Ultima Weapon has some crazy combos and finishers, while Ever After prioritizes spells (Leaf Bracer could definitely come in handy!).
- In the end, the decision between the two comes down to how comfortable you are with the mobs/bosses you’re fighting.
Armor-wise, here’s what you’ll want to have on you:
- Power Weight x2
  - These will give you a much-needed boost in Strength, so that you can quickly take down bosses and smaller enemies.
- Cosmic Belt+
  - Compared to the Master Belt, Cosmic Belt+ provides nearly the same buff in Defense, but also gives you a solid boost in elemental resistances (10% resistance to all elements). For Critical Mode, this one is definitely the best.
This is everything you’ll need when running the hardest mode in the game
Provides enough stats to boost Sora’s limited abilities over the top
Solid boost in strength and elemental resistances, while also giving Sora enough defensive stats and skills to survive heavy-hitters with what little HP you’re given

[Top 3] Deep Rock Galactic Best Gunner Builds That Wreck Hard!

"So what if I like really big guns?"

There's a reason that most video games limit miniguns to brief moments and levels contained to story modes and campaigns. That reason is that they’re just too OP. Miniguns turn otherwise difficult enemies into nothing more than flies that you swat with hundreds and hundreds of bullets. Some people will say “being too OP ruins the game” but that's B.S. and we all know it. Being OP is fun as hell, and in a cooperative game like Deep Rock Galactic, there's literally no reason not to be OP. So, here are the top three builds for the minigun-wielding maniac of Deep Rock himself: The Gunner.

3. The Begunner

It can be majorly annoying to jump into a new video game and not be able to keep up with your fellow players because you haven't unlocked everything yet. Sure, you'll unlock these upgrades eventually, but what about right now? This build is designed to use the starting equipment for the Gunner. This way, you can jump right into the game and start kicking butt with no delay.

The first primary weapon for the Gunner is the "Lead Storm" Powered Minigun. This is, potentially, the most powerful first weapon in the entire game. So you're going to want a build that brings out its full potential. Some quirks of the “Lead Storm” include: the longer you fire the minigun the more accurate your aim becomes and you can keep firing until your gun overheats. This will trigger a cool-down time, rendering your weapon useless until the time is up. These mechanics work as a trade-off to the fact that you’ll never have to reload the “Lead Storm”.

The first modification you want to choose is “Improved Platform Stability”, which will decrease your spread by 75%. Next, “Oversized Drum” will give you 600 more bullets. You may think 2400 is already more than enough, but you'll be thankful to have this extra 600. Trust us. “Blow Through Rounds” will allow your bullets to penetrate enemies and hit targets behind them, making this mini cannon a hoard melting machine. The final modifications you should choose are “Lighter Barrel Assembly” and “Cold As The Grave”. These two mods minimize the minigun’s inherent downsides by reducing the spin-up time needed before you actually start firing and providing you with the ability to slightly cool down your minigun with every bug you kill. With the number of Glyphids you’ll be decimating, you can bet the “Lead Storm” will stay just as cool as you’ll feel using it.

If you thought the minigun was a super-powered starter weapon, wait till you get a load of the "Bulldog" Heavy Revolver, the Gunner’s starting secondary weapon. It's essentially a pocket-sized sniper rifle. This hand cannon only holds four bullets at a time, so your first modification should be “Quick Fire Ejector” to reduce reload times. At the second and fourth tiers, take the “Expanded Ammo Bags”, you're going to want to be able to one-shot as many bugs as you can, and for that, you'll need extra ammo. Having careful aim is key to using the "Bulldog", so you’ll want to pick up “Hollow Point Bullets” to increase your damage when hitting an enemy's weak spot. And for the few times when you miss that weak spot, “Neurotoxin Coating” will poison your enemy. It might take a little while longer for them to die, but you’ll still only need one shot.

The Shield Generator is perhaps the most important support tool in Deep Rock. Throwing down your shield can buy you precious seconds of safety. Seconds you can use to revive downed teammates, resupply, or hold your ground to fend-off groups of enemies. There are many different approaches to choosing a loadout for the Shield Generator. The method used in this build aims to give you as much time as possible inside of your shield. Choose the modifications “Improved Projector”, “Larger Capacitors”, and “Improved Efficiency”. These will give your shield an extra three seconds of run time and increase your shield radius by half a meter.

The Gunner’s traversal tool, the Zipline Launcher, can be a bit limiting. But if used correctly, it can provide you an aerial view of the whole battlefield and a safe space to rain down pain upon your foes. As far as modifications go, “Reinforced Cables” and “Reinforced Anchors” increase your zipline’s length to 50 meters. This is very helpful when exploring large, complex caves in search of precious minerals. When traveling down a zipline, you can slide down at breakneck speeds to escape danger. Increase that speed with the “Increased Motor Traction” modification.

The first grenade available to the Gunner is the Sticky Grenade. It's exactly what it sounds like, a typical frag grenade that sticks to anything you throw it at. The “BARRACUDA” Armor uses a build that you'll see more than once on this list and others. That build will from here on out be referred to as the 3,2,1,3. More on that later.

To finish it all off, the three passive perks for “The Begunner” are “Thorns”, “Resupplier”, and “Strong Arm”. “Thorns” to protect you from swarmers, “Resupplier” to give yourself some extra time when resupplying inside of your shield, and “Strong Arm” to be able to throw heavy minerals farther while you’re sliding down your ziplines. The active perks here are two of the best perks for beginners, “Dash” and “Heightened Senses”. These two can get you out of a lot of sticky situations when used correctly.

2. The Carpet Bomber

One thing is certain in Deep Rock Galactic, you will be fighting hundreds of bugs, wave after wave after wave. A swarm is a sure thing in the caves of Hoxxes IV. As the Gunner, it's your job to tear through those waves. This builds specializes in just that, taking out as many weaker enemies as you possibly can. Trading direct damage for splash damage, “The Carpet Bomber” is a build to be reckoned with.

The primary weapon for this build is the "Thunderhead" Heavy Autocannon. Unlike the minigun, the “Thunderhead” does require you to reload, but with no overheating mechanic, you're free to blast away to your murderous little heart's content. The idea behind this “Thunderhead” build is to pump the area of effect and area damage of the autocannon to its absolute limit. To achieve this, the modifications “Loaded Rounds” and “Shrapnel Rounds” are paired with the “Carpet Bomber” overclock. With this combo, aim at the center of the swarm and take out as many bugs as possible, with no accuracy necessary. Pick up the “Improved Gas System” mod in the second tier to boost your rate of fire and don't forget the “Expanded Ammo Bags” in Tier one. This build is great for taking out huge numbers of weaker enemies but is absolutely terrible when focusing fire on larger enemies. Do not bring this build on Dreadnaught missions.

To make up for the autocannon's lack of direct damage, the BRT7 Burst Fire Gun is built to deal as much damage to stronger targets as possible. This way, if you come face-to-face with a Praetorian or an Oppressor, you're not S.O.L for going with A.O.E. on your primary. “High Velocity Rounds” and “Increase Caliber Rounds” will raise the BRT’s direct damage per bullet by six. “Longer Burst” adds three more bullets per burst to multiply that damage even more. The “Lead Spray” overclock multiplies your damage by 1.5, bringing the total damage per shot up from 21 to 40! In the fourth tier, “Hardened Rounds” will add armor breaking to your weapon. While “Recoil Dampening” increases your accuracy a bit, don't try to hit far-off targets, this build has turned the BRT7 into a close-range weapon.

This Shield Generator has been outfitted for an all-purpose, well-rounded experience. By taking one of each of the main shield properties (faster recharge, longer shield duration, and larger shield radius), you get a shield that’s a “jack of all trades”, so to speak.. Instead of doubling down on the zipline length like in “The Begunner”, this build takes a well-rounded approach here as well. One mod for increasing the distance, one for increasing the operational angle, and, finally, the “Disconnection Protection” modification. “Disconnection Protection” lets you take less damage when you fall off a zipline, which can happen a lot as a Gunner. While firing from a zipline protects you from ground enemies, being hit with a projectile will cause you to disconnect from your zipline and fall, no matter how high up you are. Making this mod a literal lifesaver.

The grenade chosen for this build is the Cluster Grenade, just to lean even harder into the whole “swarm-busting” theme. For the “BARRACUDA” Armor, it’s yet again time to go with the trusty “3,2,1,3” build. 3,2,1,3 refers to the slots that the modifications for this loadout are in on each tier. This is often considered the optimal build for any of the dwarves' armor. “Bigger Mineral Bags” increases your carrying capacity, “Healthy” increases your max health, “Reactive Armor” doubles your resistance to explosive damage, and “Breathing Room” gives you six seconds of invulnerability after being revived.

The two most important perks for this build are “Born Ready”, to keep you from having to sit through the Thunderhead’s lengthy reload animation, and “Friendly”, which reduces friendly fire damage. With the amount of splash damage you’ll be causing, you’re bound to hit your teammates eventually. Other perks for this build are Resupplier, Dash, and Shield Link.

1. The Spicy Combo

In real life, when you come face-to-face with a nasty, disgusting, demonic-looking insect that’s the size of your hand, there's only one solution. Kill it with fire. That’s the rationale behind “The Spicy Combo”. Using the "Hurricane" Guided Rocket System (a *ahem* “portable” rocket launcher that allows you to guide your missiles through the air) to ignite your enemies and then finishing them off with the"Bulldog" Heavy Revolver overclock “Volatile Bullets”, which does four times it’s damage to enemies that are on fire. This combo is just too powerful.

The loadout for the "Hurricane" Guided Rocket System starts by increasing the blast radius, then adding armor breaking to strip stronger enemies of their shells and expose their weak points. This is crucial for later. Then, improve your rate of fire with the “Improved Feed Mechanism” mod and increase your area damage with the “Zip Fuel” mod. All of these improvements are helpful, but this build hinges on one mod in particular, “Napalm Infused Rounds”. This fiery mod converts 30% of your direct and area damage into heat damage. After a couple of hits with your rockets, enemies will be lit ablaze, dealing fire damage over time. The overclock “Overtuned Feed Mechanism” will increase both your rate of fire and the speed at which your rockets fly. This, however, is all just set up for your secondary weapon.

Here is where “The Spicy Combo” actually gets spicy. The “Bulldog” overclock “Volatile Bullets” does 300% more damage to enemies that are on fire! With the "Hurricane" lighting your enemies on fire and removing their armor, the “Bulldog” is free to hit their weak points and do a clinically insane amount of damage with just one bullet. For smaller enemies, the "Hurricane" will take care of them just fine, but when it comes to Praetorian, Oppressors, Dreadnoughts, and Detonators, this strategy can make killing the strongest enemies in Deep Rock Galactic feel childishly easy. Mods for the “Bulldog” include “Perfectly Balanced” and “Expanded Ammo Bags” to help improve your aim and increase your ammo capacity. “High Velocity Rounds” adds back the ten direct damage that “Volatile Bullets” takes away. Explosive Rounds add 30 area damage to each shot. The last ingenious little trick built into “The Spicy Combo’s” “Bulldog” is also included in “The Begunner”: “Neurotoxin Coating”. If, for whatever reason, you don't absolutely decimate an enemy with this combo, just give it a second and the poison will do its job.

The Incendiary grenades are the obvious choice for “The Spicy Combo”, adding a whole new way to light your enemies on fire. Go with the same Shield Generator loadout as “The Begunner” and with the same Zipline Launcher loadout as “The Carpet Bomber”. The perks for this build are general-purpose perks. They don't necessarily synergize with the rest of this build, but they're all excellent choices in their own right. “Deep Pockets” expands you're carrying capacity, “Beast Master” lets you tame a Glyphid Grunt and turn it into a “Steeve” who will fight for you. “It's A Bug Thing” causes Lootbugs to explode when you walk past them. This is sort of just a quality-of-life improvement, but a nice one to keep your expanded pockets full of Nitra and Gold. The other two perks are “Born Ready” and “Dash”, two of the most helpful perks in the game.

Instead of our trustee 3,2,1,3 loadout for the “BARRACUDA” Armor, this build focuses on maximizing the power of your personal shield. Your shield (not the shield from the Sheild Generator, but the blue health bar above your main, red health bar) can take several hits before you start to lose any health. So, by making it as strong as possible, you can take quite a few hits before you even start to get hurt. The “Improve Generator” lets your shield regenerate sooner after it's been broken. “Overcharger” gives your shield more durability before it breaks. In tier three, “Reactive Armor” is the only choice you have. And last but not least, “Shockwave” damages all enemies around you when your shield breaks, giving you a chance to escape or kill any enemies that are giving you a hard time.

There Are Just Too Many Possibilities!

You know what they say, turrets are a man’s - er... I mean- dwarves' best friend. No one can have your back the way an automated machine gun can. This is a fact only the Engineer truly understands. If you've just picked up the co-op shooter Deep Rock Galactic, it can be intimidating to put together a build that feels both powerful and effective. Each item has so many options that there are technically over 100 Septillion combinations of modification, overclocks, and perks for the Engineer alone. Don't worry, this guide will walk you through three of the best engineer builds so you can skip the hassle and go straight to building platforms and blowing up bugs.

3. The Begineer

The first build is for the greenbeards reading this list. After all, Gamersdecide.com named the Engineer as the best class for beginners. This build has been purposely designed to use the first weapons available for the Engineer. On top of that, it doesn't use any overclocks, which need to be unlocked later through events and missions. Let's deep dive into the details.

The primary weapon of this build is the "Warthog" Auto 210 shotgun. This is the very first weapon in the game for the Engineer. The Warthog, like many other weapons in the Engineer's arsenal, has an ammo problem. You'll notice that this is a consistent theme as the list continues. This configuration is put together to maximize how much ammo you carry and how effective your shots are. It expands both your magazine size and your maximum carry while doubling down on buffing the shotgun's rate of fire. When combined with the +400% armor breaking of the “Tungsten Coated Buckshot”, the Warthog becomes a superpowered, fully-automatic shotgun.

For the secondary weapon, the Deepcore 40MM PGL is a grenade launcher that excels in taking out large crowds, and that’s exactly what it’s built for here. Yet again, we take extra ammo, twice in fact, which raises our total number of grenades by four. Then the modifications “Incendiary Compound” and “Nails+Tape” are chosen to maximize the spread and damage dealt over time by the grenades. This will let you kill more enemies per shot. Finally, “Proximity Trigger” is chosen in tier 5. “Proximity Trigger” makes your projectiles wait to explode until they're near an enemy. This way, even if your aim is a little off, you’ll still hit your target. The Deepcore really shines when used in combination with the L.U.R.E. grenade, which draws nearby enemies together into one spot, making for an easy target.

As for equipment, you will see a fairly consistent build for both the Platform Gun and the “OWL” Armor throughout this list. That's because these two have fewer options than other items when it comes to modifications, so the best combination is pretty clear (with some minor tweaks here and there). The LMG Gun Platform turrets, on the other hand, will vary due to personal preferences. Since this build is for beginners, the turrets are customized to be the easiest and most effective they can be. First, “The Gemini System” allows you to set up two turrets at once, like having two automated teammates watch your back. “Quick Deploy” allows you to set up your guns as quickly as possible and the “Defender System” will let the turrets target and kill more enemies on their own, so you don't have to worry about them.

The perks for this build have been chosen to keep things easy. “Thorns” will take care of any annoying Swarmers that often give newbies so much trouble. “Born Ready” makes reloading simple by doing it for you. “Resupplier” acts as a second “Born Ready”, fully reloading your weapons when you resupply. “Dash” lets you sprint your way out of sticky situations as fast as you can. And finally, “Beast Master” allows you to tame an enemy and make a Steeve, bringing the total number of companions available to you on a solo mission up to four (Steeve, the two turrets, and Bosco). This build is perfect for beginners who do not want to grind and slog for overclocks before they can kick ass. With “The Begineer” you don’t have to.

2. The Burst Bomber

This builds is about one thing and one thing only: Explosions. There's nothing quite as satisfying as watching bug guts explode everywhere. Using the Deepcore grenade launcher (explosions), the Plasma Burster grenades (explosions), and the LOK-1 Smart Rifle overclock “Explosive Chemical Rounds”, (lots and lots of explosions) the Lonely Island couldn't be more wrong. Cool guys do look at explosions.

The primary weapon for this build is the LOK-1 Smart Rifle. Using AI, the LOK-1 targets, tracks, and shoots enemies for you. All you have to do is hold the trigger, lock onto your enemies, and let it loose. For modifications, start by taking the extra ammo, then choose “Macro Lens” and “Shutter Speed Sensor” to power up your weapon’s lock-on ability. “Electrochemical Rounds” will add status effects and damage to your weapon while “Fear Frequency” will scare away foes you've already hit once, allowing you more time to lock onto them again as well as providing you with some breathing room if they’ve gotten too close. The overclock, “Explosive Chemical Rounds” will cause your targets to explode when they've been hit with three or more lock-ons. Small bursts of fire from your rifle will turn the battlefield into a pyrotechnic show akin to a hair metal concert, except instead of fireworks, it’s bug guts.

The Deepcore build for “The Burst Bomber” is very similar to that of “The Begineer”, except we sacrifice a little bit of ammo for a wider area of effect. Instead of two turrets, for this build, we'll take the single turret, which packs twice as much punch. We will also take the “Hawkeye System”, which allows you to point out which targets your turret should focus on with your laser pointer. While the rest of this build excels in dealing with swarms, the “Hawkeye System” will help focus fire on bigger targets. As for grenades, the Plasma Bursters seem to be fitting with the theme of “things that go boom.”

As stated previously, most of these builds have very similar Platform Gun and Armor load-outs. The Platform Gun is the Engineer's traversal tool, which shoots yellow platforms to help you climb cave walls, cover up holes, and provide Scouts with a place to mine minerals. The mods for the Platform Gun are pretty straightforward. In the first tier, extra ammo is always a good choice. There's only one option for the second-tier modification, “Plastcrete MKII”, which reduces fall damage when you land on a platform. The best choice in the final tier for the Platform Gun is “Repellent Additive”, which will cause bugs to avoid your platforms.

For the “OWL” Armor, “Bigger Mineral Bags” will allow you to carry five more of any resource, an essential upgrade for any miner. As with any video game armor, extra health is the correct choice in the second tier, and in the third tier there is only one option, so take it. In the final tier, choose “Breathing Room”. This gives you 6 seconds of invulnerability after being revived. Nobody likes to get killed right after they've been brought back, this will keep that from happening. The perks for this build will also not change much from “The Begineer.” The only difference is instead of “Beast Master”, take “Field Medic”. With all these explosions, you're bound to down a teammate on accident. You might as well be able to revive them quickly as, an apology.

What The Burst Bomber Excels In:

Clearing crowds
Quick execution of larger enemies.

1.The Electrical Engineer

This build is all about maximizing the Engineer's main elemental power, electricity. In Deep Rock Galactic, electricity provides damage over time while slowing down enemies affected by it. It’s no surprise to anybody that a slower enemy makes for an easier target. The idea here is to slow down opponents with the "Stubby" Voltaic SMG and then deliver a powerhouse blow with the Breach Cutter. This one-two punch is deadly both to groups of small enemies and to larger enemies like Dreadnaughts and Bulk Detonators. Just don't get too close to the Detonators. When they die, they do exactly as their name suggests.

The "Stubby" Voltaic SMG is the primary source of electricity in this build. The tier-1 modification “Upgraded Capacitors” adds a 30% chance to electrocute targets. Then, “Conductive Bullets” adds 30% direct damage to your already electrocuted foes. Finally, “Electric Arc” adds a 25% chance to electrocute nearby enemies when you are reapplying electricity to any given enemy. With these three modifications, the strategy is to use small bursts from the Stubby to apply electrical damage, then reapply the electrical damage, electrocuting anyone around them, repeating this pattern to do extra damage to any already electrocuted foes. Then, you add on the “EM Refire Booster” overclock, which adds two more electric damage per bullet and increases the rate of fire, thus increasing the speed at which you electrocute targets. The synergy of this build is off the charts.

Again, the combination of modifications and overclocks work together in perfect harmony, but this time with the Breach Cutter. The “High Voltage Crossover” overclock has a 100% chance of electrocuting enemies. The “Plasma Trail” modification leaves behind a plasma residue trail that causes fire damage to any enemy that walks through it. The “Disruptive Frequency Tuning” modification has a 100% chance of stunning enemies for three seconds. When you put all of these together, the plasma beam stuns the enemy keeping them in place, that place is within the plasma trail that burns them, and then electricity slows them down, keeping them in the plasma trail even longer. Essentially, this Breach Cutter build just melts health off of anything it touches.

For the turrets, we have the same build as in “The Begineer”, but this time take the “Stun” modification to complement the rest of this build. We're also taking the classic Platform Gun and “OWL” Armor configuration except for one small change. In the third tier of the “OWL” Armor mods, take “Static Charge”, which stuns enemies with, you guessed it, electricity every time your shield breaks. The Proximity Mine grenade complements this build best. Whenever an enemy gets within the mine’s range, it explodes. The Proximity Mines will stick to any surface. To get the most out of your mine placement, fire a platform in the center the wall of you want to booby trap and stick the mine to the side edge of the platform. This will utilize the mine's full radius to catch enemies and blow them to smithereens.

The perks for “The Electrical Engineer” are also chosen for synergistic reasons. “Elemental Insulation” will ensure you do not take damage from any electricity that you may put out onto the battlefield. “Unstoppable” will keep the electrical slow-down effect from applying to you. “Born Ready” is mainly to keep you from having to reload the Breach Cutter, which has a lengthy reload animation. As for active perks, “Heightened Senses” and “See You In Hell” both allow you to release an electrical discharge, killing nearby enemies, in two specific situations. “Heightened Senses” for when you’re grabbed by a Cave Leech, Grabber, or Nemesis, and “See You In Hell” for when you’ve been downed, clearing bugs away from your body. These two are unbelievably helpful in the right circumstance and really add to the whole Thor: God of Thunder thing this build has going on.

Childe knows how to use a wide variety of weapons, yet he's not so great when using a bow

Childe, also known as Tartaglia, is the eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers. The fact that he’s one of the “bad guys” and he’s still a playable character, gives a sense of depth and complexity to the game because you get to know the story from all the character’s points of view.

Childe is a bow user, but he can swap to melee attacks with his Elemental skill, replacing the bow for daggers which cooldown will depend on how long you stay on melee stance. He’s the fastest Hydro applier in the game so far, great for teams where you can do a lot of elemental reactions. Playable as a DPS or Sub-DPS, here I’ll be sharing with you his best builds.

5. Shimenawa's Harbinger

(Check from minute 2:30 to see what it looks like)

The first build we’re going to see in this top consists of four pieces of the Shimenawa Reminiscence set, that can be found in Inazuma. The four pieces will allow you to have a 50% attack DMG increase for 10 seconds when you use your Elemental Skill, in exchange for 15 points of your Elemental Burst.

What “Shimenawa’s Harbinger excels” in:

This build is amazing on a Sub-DPS Tartaglia, giving time to his Elemental Skill to cool down while using other characters so you can activate again the four-piece effect
Because he doesn’t depend on his Burst to do a lot of damage, 15 points of energy won’t be an issue.

Build Details:
