Why is levelling up in Apex Legends important?

Despite the game itself not revolving around levelling up, it's actually quite important to most players for a myriad of reasons. Apex Legends is a game that has various rewards for levelling up, from legend tokens to apex packs.

Most people want to level up to get Apex packs for their free chance at an heirloom or for other skins and items in the game.

Leveling up is a pretty simple process but many players don't know the myriad of different ways to gain XP. Most players tend to just play the game, but there are actually so many other ways to get your level up.

10. Winning Games

Though you might be playing a lot of Apex, you won't be getting much account XP if you don't win your games. Now I'm not saying you should be winning every single game, but trying to get some wins during your play session is going to massively increase the amount of XP you can gain.

It's something you need to get better at, but when those wins come in you're gonna see your XP skyrocket.

Boot into a game
Play safely
Get into the final few teams
Win the game

9. Champion Squad

Another great way to earn some XP is being the Champion Squad whilst doing things in a game. You get the Champion Squad by winning your previous game usually, but sometimes it comes from just playing well in your previous match compared to others in your new lobby.

With Champion Squad on your side, you will get more XP for kills, wins and doing everything else in this list. It's a great little multiplier for more XP.

How it Works:

Do well or win in your previous game.
Play well in your next game for more XP.

8. Kill Leader Placement

One multiplier for getting the most XP possible is being the kill leader and placing well in a match. Being Kill Leader is already a great XP boost, but placing well overall in the match whilst being Kill Leader will lead to even more XP gains per match. It's not an easy thing to do, but when you pop off in a match, you will be rewarded.

How it Works:

Get the most kills in the lobby
Then get even more kills or place well in the match
Finish in the top 5 for even more XP.

7. Survival Time

Staying around in a match will net you, even more, XP than kills sometimes, so bear that in mind the next time you play the game. Placing higher in the match is a great idea, even if it gets boring sometimes.

Players want to be aggressive, and that's fine, but sometimes it's also great to play the long game for XP and positioning. This is also a great idea if you have the previous multipliers as you will get even more XP for staying alive in the match for longer.

Be alive as long as possible in a match for more XP
Stay in buildings
Play safely
Play around with your team.

6. Reviving Teammates

Working with your team is key when it comes to doing anything in Apex Legends. Whether it's keeping them healed up, protecting them or using your abilities to save them. One thing you should be doing anyway is reviving them, but did you know it provides some more bonus XP?

Yeah, it's a great way of getting some more XP whilst also helping out your team in the long run.

5. First Kill of the Day

This one is extremely simple, but one thing people often forget about. In Battle Royale game modes you can get extra XP for the first kill you get each day. This one can be multiplied by the previous multipliers I've spoken about or can just be taken on its own.

For people who often play the other game modes, it's a great idea to at least get one Battle Royale kill each day to not miss out on a little bit more XP.

Head into Duos or Trios and get a kill

4. Play With a Friend

Another one of the best ways to get more XP is by playing with friends. The more people you play with, the more XP all of you will get, it's as simple as that. This is a great way to farm XP for yourself and your buddies as you can all level up quickly together.

This feeds into the next three ways of getting more XP as well, but on its own, it's a great idea for more XP and a smoother experience overall.

How it Work:

Having one friend with you will give you a small XP boost.
Add another for even more XP
Also, use that Battle Pass bonus for more XP

3. Have a Strong Team Composition

To do well in matches and get these XP bonus methods to work, you need to be performing well. The best way to do this is to not only play with friends but to also have a great team composition.

If you want to play defensive for those placement XP extras or points, then you want to have some defensive legends like Caustic or Wattson on your team. Another great idea would be to have some synergy with one another. Legends like Bloodhound and Bangalore go well together as Bloodhound lets the team see through Bangalore’s smoke.

The better you are at Apex, the more aggressive you can be without being instantly killed. Kills are massive when it comes to getting XP, so if you want to take this seriously you need to get better at the game.

10. Mirage

Mirage is the clown of the Apex squad, but don't take him as just a joke. He might have a crazy personality, sad backstory and weird antics, but Mirage is an insanely fun legend to play in ranked and casual play. Though he might be a pretty mid-tier legend when compared to others, Mirage still has a lot to offer if your main goal of playing Apex is to have some fun!

His tactical and ultimate are the main things that make him enjoyable, as you can mess with your enemies by bamboozling them in different ways. Sending out your decoy to mess with people, using it to dance around or even messing with a new player. He has so much to offer in terms of fun!

What Makes Mirage Fun:

Using his decoys to mess with enemies should always bring a smile to your face as you see their confusion.
You can also emote with your decoys, in both your tactical and your ultimate. This is super funny as you can confuse your enemies with dance moves.

Another extremely simple yet fun legend is the ever-loved Bangalore. Bang is the most simple character in Apex by far, but that doesn't remove the fun factor that many players get out of her. Bangalore is based around her smoke, allowing her to hide and distract enemies as well as her passive which allows her to move super fast after being shot at. Bang has reactionary abilities, meaning she is very simple to play until someone attacks her. You can just chill out and shoot some enemies!
Finally, Bang pairs well with other legends, so you always feel like you are doing something for your team even if you smoke in the wrong areas lol.

7. Valkyrie

Valkyrie has been one of the most played legends in the game ever since her launch a few years back. Players immediately connected with her kit as it was something we hadn't seen in Apex at all when she was released. We already had movement abilities, but a jet pack, nah now that was insane to see.

Valk is extremely fun because of her passive movement, but also because of her ability to move her and her team around the map with ease. This legend is never a bad choice so it's no wonder players love playing her so much in both ranked and casual play. She is just an amazing legend, with an extremely fun kit to boot.

Her passive jet pack allows her to move in ways other legends can't, which is super fun on all maps. Who doesn't love flying around?
Her team utility is always appreciated so you never feel like a burden to your team.
Finally, her tactical is super fun to use as it feels rewarding to land it correctly and slow/stun your enemies with it.

6. Horizon

Oh Horizon, what hasn't been said about you already in the community? Horizon used to easily be the most fun legend in the game, but she has received a lot of changes that make her much harder to enjoy in certain situations.

Either way though, the main enjoyment with Horizon comes from her tactical and passive. The gravity lift tactical allows Horizon to float into the sky, avoid shots and shoot down at others with ease. In earlier patches, it was way easier to kill enemies from this perch, but nowadays it's much harder to pull off.

Her passive is unchanged though, allowing her to soft land wherever she wants, and keep her momentum as well.

What Makes Horizon Fun:

Horizon is an aggressive movement player’s dream, even after all of the huge changes she’s received over the years. You are just free to move in any way you want.
Making plays with her ultimate is still fun after some changes, especially if you and your team throw in some grenades for a bigger boom.
Finally, Horizon’s flow in a match is just a nice experience. You never feel pinned down by your movement or your abilities. She is just a very freeing character to play.

5. Wraith

Wraith is one of the most played legends for a reason, so it's no surprise she can be extremely fun to play. She has a pretty great kit and has one of the best tactical’s in the game. This is the main reason people play her so much. it's not because her kit is exactly fun, it's because it's so good.

People have fun playing an extremely powerful legend, and that's alright. It's why you will see so many Wraiths in every lobby no matter what. Players love being powerful, and that in combination with their skill makes for a very fun combination

What Makes Wraith Fun:

Her abilities are super powerful, so people enjoy being strong.
You can be extremely aggressive with her and have a great fallback thanks to her tactical. So she is fun for aggressive players who want kills.
Finally, you can do some funny stuff with her ultimate such as kidnapping enemies with it and trapping them in a gas-filled room. She has so much going on, it's great.

4. Wattson

Wattson is an extremely niche legend, but provides a playstyle you can get anywhere else so it's no surprise a select group finds her fun. Compared to other legends though, I think Wattson is more fun because no one else is like her.

Wattson is based around using her fences to create traps for enemies, deter them from pushing and of course holding down late-game buildings. She is extremely strong in the right hands, and can even be played aggressively by really great players.

What Makes Wattson Fun:

Her very unique playstyle is super fun if you enjoy messing with your opponents and trapping them
Her door trick technique is one of the most rewarding playstyles in the game as if you catch enemies off guard with it, you almost always get a free kill.
Finally, her character is just so lovable so it's nice to play someone lighthearted for once.

3. Rampart

Oh Rampart, yeah there is a little bit of bias here as she is my main, but stay with me for a second. Rampart has a super specific playstyle that is a niche to her. She can create amped cover wherever she wants and also use the destructive power of Sheila.

Learning Rampart takes a lot of skill, but anyone can have some fun with Sheila, she is just that powerful. Running into an entire team and instantly killing them all with the minigun will never get old. She is super powerful, a very fun legend to get better at and an overall blast for anyone who picks her up.

What Makes Rampart Fun:

Sheila is always a blast to use as you can just destroy doors and people so easily.
If you play Rampart correctly and get good at her, no one expects her power. People sit behind doors thinking they have the advantage, but you do with Sheila.
Finally, her wall playstyle might be seen as boring for some, but when you put time into this unique legend, she can be extremely useful. Rampart can win fights that no other legend can ever dream of.

2. Loba

Loba, one of the most loved legends in the game sits at the number 2 spot for one main reason. Yeah, she has a great tactical and passive, but her ultimate is definitely why people have so much fun playing her.

No matter how much people love fighting, they love looting even more. This is where Loba’s ultimate comes into play as her Black Market Boutique allows her and her team to get the best loot in the area, as much Ammo as they can hold and even see where other good loot is. Loba is just super fun because of this, and will never get old.

Of course, her ultimate is the main reason why people play her as it's just so good for getting loot.
Another reason is her tactical. She has a surprising amount of movement capabilities thanks to it so it's nice to get around the map with.
Finally, Loba’s position on the team is support, so it's always fun helping out your team.

And the top spot, with no surprise to anyone, is of course Octane. Octane is the current most played legend in the game as of writing this and for good reason. Though Octane has a great ultimate and passive, his tactical is why people love playing him so much.

Players get the most fun by moving as fast as possible in Apex. Whether thats through movement techniques like super gliding and tap strafing or movement abilities like Bangalore’s passive and Octane’s Tactical ability. It really makes him who he is, so it's no surprise people love playing this speed demon as much as they do.

What Makes Octane Fun:

Octane’s ultimate is so great for moving around the map even faster or getting into/ out of fights as quick as possible.
If you want to be aggressive in Apex, Octane really helps you out with that. People get the most fun from the game by farming kills, which is exactly what Octane was made for.

10. Seer

Seer was once used in basically every team in ranked play, mainly due to his insane combination with Catalyst. However, after a decent amount of nerfs and basically a complete rework, Seer’s pick rate has dropped dramatically.

The thing is though. Seer is still in the top ten of legends and it makes a lot of sense. He might have changed a lot since his inception, but Seer has some great utility to this day. Not only can he now stun/slow enemies with this tactical, but his passive is still insanely strong.

His ultimate has seen some pretty big changes, but it's still quite useful with a coordinated team by his side. Overall, Seer is still pretty great but is no surprise why he sits at the bottom of the top ten.

What Makes Seer Popular:

His tactical is very impactful in a match due to it's stun, slow and insane radius
Seer on a team provides so much information it basically allows his team to hack and see where enemies are at all times.

9. Valkyrie

Another character who has dropped from fame is of course Valkyrie, however, she still has some significance in the meta. Not only is Valk still extremely powerful in any match of casual or ranked play, but she also has a dedicated fan base that is never going to stop playing her.

Similarly to Seer, there was once a time where every team in ranked games revolved around a Valkyrie and her abilities, and sadly that isn't true right now. Despite that though, she is still used quite often for her insane movement tools, fantastic stuns and rotational value. Valkyrie is an excellent legend so it's no wonder she still sit's inside the top ten of legends.

Her rotational value is one of the best in the game, allowing her and her team to redeploy almost anywhere on the map.

One of the most consistently used legends in the game is Lifeline, as she has been pretty popular since the beginning of the game. Throughout her time in the spotlight though, her kit and usability have changed quite a bit.

Gone are the days of her shielded revive, better healing and terrible ultimate, as nowadays she is a much more well-rounded healer and revive character that brings great utility to her team. Lifeline is used quite a lot in all levels of play mainly because of her medic abilities and general ease of use. 10. Each Legend Provides Variety

Apex Legends is completely built around the characters that you can choose from as you enter a match. With each legend, comes different abilities, ultimates, passives and playstyles that tend to be vastly different from one another.

Because of this, each game isn't the same if you play different legends as you can approach situations, fights and loot differently. Playing Rampart? Then you probably want to pick up an LMG and get shooting. Playing Wraith? Then you most likely want to avoid that LMG and grab the R-99 in the bin around the corner.

This sort of thing also applies to how you enter a fight, approach enemies or think about the circle coming in around you.

Being a competitive Battle Royale game means that Apex Legends has a lot of strategy to it. Each match plays out differently thanks to the maps, legends and players, but one of the biggest factors to unify these is your own strategy.

Some players enjoy certain maps and hate others, it's just how the community is right now. The thing is though, despite their hatred and love for certain maps, it's hard to deny that these maps bring a lot of variety to the game. With an hourly rotation most of the day, your play session won't get boring.

Speaking of maps, each one is pretty fluid to play on. Now don't get me wrong, some maps feel more fluid than others, but overall the map design in Apex is fantastic. Even the most controversial map in the game right now, Broken Moon, has a lot of fluidity thanks to its rails all over the map that allows players to move swiftly from one area to the next.

Apex is all about fights, repositioning and getting into that final circle. This means that the maps need to be fluid and naturally move you from one area to another. This is exactly what makes the maps in Apex great as they are designed around how the players interact with each other.

Players want fights, so some areas of the map act like funnels whilst others allow players to gank and get higher ground. Each map has its flaws and its perfect points, but overall it's one of the best aspects of the game hands down.

6. Team Aspects

Unlike most Battle Royale games, Apex doesn't have a solo mode. The devs have dabbled with it in the past through events, but overall the game is balanced around its team aspects. You can either play Apex in Duos or Trios, meaning you will have teammates in basically every match.

This brings something unique with Apex as there are so many ways a team can interact, coordinate and pair up their legends and their abilities. The game feels endless in this aspect and it's one of the reasons people love it so much.

Whether it's coordinating with randoms or grouping up with some friends to destroy in ranked, the team aspect of this game is fantastic. It allows for some creativity in team building and provides some fun for anyone who wants to hop on with some friends for a few games.

5. A Tough Experience

Some Battle Royale tend to get quite easy over time as you get better and better. Look at Fortnite for example. Yeah, you might have bad games, but it's a pretty easy Battle Royale when compared to something like Apex. Because of how volatile an Apex lobby can be due to the various legends people can choose, how loot works and the ring, it can be a tough experience even for veteran players.

This is why people keep coming back to the game and love it so much because it provides a nice challenge. The game has had some issues in the past with matchmaking, and could still be improved nowadays, but overall the challenge is there in every lobby. In ranked play, this is especially true as it's a tough experience for everyone in your rank range.

4. The “Main” Mentality

One of the best parts about hero and character-based shooters is the idea of “mains”. People will gravitate towards certain legends, whether it's because of their playstyle, skins or their character in general. Every Apex player has their main character who they will play time and time again no matter what happens.

The game itself also adheres to this idea with Heirlooms, a rare item that you can select for the character you play the most. It's a great rare and little incentive for your main character and shows to others that this specific legend is your own.

3. Weapon Variety

The weapons in Apex also all feel different and have their own use. In other games like PUBG and Fortnite, most guns kind of feel the same. Yeah, they have differences, but it's not like the gun feels too much different from another in the same class.

With Apex though, each pistol, rifle, shotgun and sniper has its distinct way of playing and its attachments. This also plays into the ammo system as the game classifies certain guns into each Ammo type to try and unify them, but each still has its own style and use. No matter what gun you pick up in Apex, it's going to do some good damage and be a different feeling from the next.

Whether it's the Flatline, R-99, Peacekeeper or Mozambique, they all feel unique from one another.

2. Ping System

The ping system is something that every other Battle Royale implemented into their game after the initial success of Apex Legends. This simple system of being able to ping items, loot, players, enemies, areas, buildings etc., is one of the main reasons why Apex succeeded early on.

This simple system allows players to communicate no matter their situation. The button for this isn't in an awkward spot and is easy to do even whilst shooting. The variants of pings the game has implemented allow players without a microphone or anxiety to give out information to their team in a simple yet effective way. It's just so good, and is one of the reasons that makes Apex so great

And finally, the main reason people love this game so much is of course the movement systems. Being based on the Titanfall engine meant that Apex carried over some of the most important movement techniques into its modern Battle Royale setting, without the wall running of course.

Because of this, systems such as super gliding, tap staffing and wall bouncing were a part of Apex, allowing players to move in some pretty creative ways. Though it wasn't exactly intended by the developers, they have accepted it as part of the game and even showed it off to the wider community recently.

The movement system goes from being super simple to being quite complex depending on what you want to learn, so it's great for all types of players. The movement just makes Apex what it is, and it's easily the main reason why people love it so much.

10. Octane, Mad Maggie, Ballistic

Octane, Maggie and Ballistic are all about speed, getting into your opponent's face and getting some kills. As singular legends, they are formidable opponents, but when paired together they are a different breed.

These three legends embody speed and pressure as Octane and Maggie provide the team with a speed bonus and a launch pad, whilst Ballistic not only increases reload speed for the entire team, but also boosts their armed movement speed. This isn't all they do either, as their other abilities pair well together.

Ballistic can stop enemies from shooting, Maggie and blind teams and move them around with her ball and Octane can get the team some new ground.

What’s Great About This Team:

Their movement abilities are fantastic, allowing the three of them to move around the map quickly and get into fights.

Each legend can hold out on their own and provide something to the team, but when together their abilities mesh super well.

Though speed is the name of the game here, their in-fight control is amazing as well thanks to Maggie and Ballistic’s abilities.

9. Wattson, Rampart, Caustic

A defensive setup might not be the playstyle for everyone, but this team is perfect if you are ever in the mood. Wattson, Rampart and Caustic are all devious defensive legends when played on their own, but when they come together, you get to see how powerful playing defence can be.

Wattson and Caustic are known for being able to lock down areas with ease. Using Caustic’s gas to block off areas, damage enemies and deny line of sight is a great idea for any team. If you then pair this up with Wattson’s ability to fence off doors and open areas whilst also stopping grenades from hitting the team, then it's a crazy combination.

Rampart just amplifies this team even further. Allowing them to do more damage through her walls and even having Sheila in her back pocket for those tough engagements.

What’s Great About This Team:

This team can easily hold down a building, a choke point or any part of the final circle. Caustic’s Gas, Wattson’s Fences and Rampart’s Walls are all great for stopping enemies in their tracks.
This team can also go on the offensive quite easily, turning their defence into an offence. Whether it's through Sheila, Wattson’s fences or Caustic’s ultimate, it's a great way to play.
Finally, their damage as a team is also underrated even if you are sticking on the defensive. Enemies won't realise how quickly Sheila can kill an entire team or how much damage Caustic’s gas is doing to them.

8. Wraith, Octane, Mirage

Messing with your opponents is a fantastic way to play the game as it disorientates them. There are a few legends in the game that can do this, but what about a whole team? Well, that's where this combination of Wraith, Octane and Mirage comes in. Each legend has its own way of distracting and annoying enemies, allowing the others to rack up the kills.

Octane has insane speed, moving around the battlefield like a missile, Mirage can create numerous clones to make enemies wonder which one is real and Wraith can go invulnerable and force enemies to chase after her through her portal. These three legends are all menaces on their own, but when they are pulled together they are on another level.

What’s Great About This Team:

The team is fantastic at distracting enemies, allowing the rest of the team to get kills or damage their foes.
Because of this technique, they are great at racking up kills even in ranked environments.
This team is also super fun as each legend has their own unique role to play, whilst also fragging out with ease.

7. Caustic, Wattson, Lifeline

Another defensive setup is up next, but this time with Lifeline instead of Rampart. This one plays pretty similarly to the previous setup with both Wattson and Caustic. You can hold down buildings, create space and stop enemies pretty easily, but this time you have Lifeline at your side.

Lifeline brings some much-needed self-sustain to the team, as she can heal her teammates passively thanks to her drone, get them more loot from her ultimate and even revive them whilst covering them for free. She is a great addition to this defensive framework, making an even more versatile setup by only changing one legend out.

You can hold down buildings very easily thanks to Caustic’s gas and Wattson’s fences
The self-sustainability is fantastic here as Wattson can heal your shields with her ultimate, and Lifeline can heal your health with her tactical.
Finally, Lifeline can provide some makeshift cover with her ultimate that you can always play around in a tight final circle.

6. Bangalore, Caustic, Bloodhound

Smoke and Gas are a great way to create some makeshift cover from your enemies, disorientate them or even allow you to get the upper hand. This is why both Bangalore and Caustic are great, but what would make them better is being able to see through their abilities. This is where Bloodhound comes into play, as they can scan through the smoke/gas and allow the entire team to get some free kills.

Caustic can see enemies who are in his gas, but not through it. This makes Bloodhound the perfect addition to this setup, as they provide a much-needed piece of aggression to these two legends!

What’s Great About This Team:

This team can be extremely aggressive and become defensive on a dime, mainly because of their smoke and gas capabilities. Remember, you can use your smoke and gas to fall back if you need to.
Thanks to Bloodhound, you can see straight through the gas and smoke this team provides, so make sure to shoot enemies who can’t see you.
This team can back up and play super defensive with their gas, smoke and even the scan as they can block enemies from seeing them, but the team can still see the enemies.

5. Ash, Pathfinder, Octane

Another super speedy squad is the insane combination of Ash, Pathfinder and Octane. We already know how amazing Octane is, but Pathfinder and Ash are also great options for a super speedy and aggressive squad. This team mainly excels at pushing directly into fights and third partying, thanks to each of their ultimate abilities.

Octane of course has his iconic launch pad, sending his team into battle. Pathfinder can place an infinite-use zip line down, allowing his team to not only enter a fight but also escape if they need to. Then we have Ash, who can keep enemies in place with her tactical, and push towards high ground in an instant thanks to her ultimate.

What’s Great About This Team:

Being aggressive is key here as each legend provides their own offence but little to no defence. Use their abilities wisely.
Each legend has its own way of getting into a fight, meaning enemies won't know what hit them.
The speed of this team will catch your enemies off guard as they can all get into a fight near instantly and take out enemies with ease.

4. Caustic, Wattson, Wraith

This one is another combination of Wattson and Caustic, but this time with some flavour to it. We know by now that Wattson and Caustic are a devious defensive unit together, and applying certain legends as their third will change the playstyle up dramatically. The next legend to add to this squad is Wraith and for one reason only.

Wraith brings along her portal to the team, but here we use it for baiting enemies rather than its safety. Wraith portals seem to attract enemies like a moth to a flame, so set up a kill room with Wattson and Caustic, then get your Wraith to abduct some enemies for a free kill. It's super fun, if not a little sinister.

What’s Great About This Team:

This team can be insanely defensive thanks to Wattson and Caustic as their abilities allow them to hold down buildings and create space with ease.
If you do need to leave a breached building or a sticky situation, Wraith has you covered as she can get you out with her ultimate.
Caustic and Wattson might not be the most aggressive legends, but Wraith allows them to move around the map easier, and get into fights for a higher kill game.

3. Revenant, Octane, Bloodhound

This squad has a lot of aggression to it thanks to Octane and Bloodhound’s abilities, but Revenant adds some much-needed control. We have already covered Octane and Bloodhound in depth here, so it's clear why they are a great choice, but Revenant is the main feature here.

Despite being one of the so-called worst legends in the game, and his rework coming around the corner, the current state of Revenant has some use on a team like this. His tactical ability is the best part about him and allows Bloodhound and Octane to perform even better than before. His tactical is a silence in a small area. Once it hits someone, they cannot use any abilities, basically making them a free kill for anyone who runs into this team.

What’s Great About This Team:

Revenant’s control allows Octane and Bloodhound to have free reign over any fight as long as they are coordinated.
Octane and Bloodhound give everyone on the team insane movement and wallhacks, making them an insane squad in a team fight.
Don't underestimate the power of Revenants Ultimate in certain situations as when combined with Octane’s pad and Bloodhound’s scan, it can be used to rush a team with ease.

2. Horizon, Pathfinder, Wraith

Pathfinder and Wraith are a great basis for any team. Wraith gives some much-needed safety to her team and Pathfinder is great for getting around the map, but Horizon is here as well. Horizon is one of the best legends in the game for a reason, and makes this team a beast to deal with. Horizon is all about her gravity lift, allowing her to not only get high ground with ease but also shoot her enemies at the same time.

This combined with Pathfinder and Wraith’s power makes this team one of the best for contesting other teams in ranked or casual environments. Use their abilities together for a whirlwind of pain for anyone who comes close.

Now this one is a little weird, but one of the best setups in ranked play. Though their abilities don't exactly mesh well together, it doesn't matter as on their own Valkyrie, Catalyst and Bangalore are insane legends. We already know what Bangalore can do, but Valkyrie and Catalyst are fantastic legends as well.

Catalyst is a defensive legend all about creating space, blocking off areas and forcing a fight in her favour. On the other hand, Valkyrie is all about repositioning and movement. When combined, you get an extremely well-rounded team who can take on any situation they come across.

What’s Great About This Team:

This team is insanely versatile in any situation thanks to all of their separate abilities.
Need to reposition? Use Bangalore’s ultimate as cover, Catalysts as a defence and Valk’s as a movement tool.
Want to push a fight? Use Bang’s smoke as cover, Catalyst’s wall and tactical as a way to create or deny space and Valkyrie’s tactical for some free damage and a possible stun.

What is Sensitivity and Why is it Important?

When it comes down to getting better at gaming, many players look to different peripherals, aim training programs and even supplements, but one thing that can quickly improve your gameplay is the sensitivity you play at.

Most gamers tend to have a pretty high sensitivity as it makes the game flow better in their eyes, or they are used to twitchy shooters. The thing is, having a lower sensitivity is actually to your benefit within a game life Apex Legends, despite its high-paced action.

Sensitivity is what governs the accuracy of your aim. A higher sensitivity makes your cursor or character turn quicker, whilst a slower one makes it slower. High sensitivity tends to allow jitters within your aim to actually affect your performance as any slight movement is going to translate into a movement within the game.

DPI also plays a big role in your aim, as Dots Per Inch also affects how fast your mouse moves across your screen. This is all due to how fast your mouse recognises movements, so a lower DPI is better in the long run. We will get into this more later.

Some of the best players in the game also use controllers, rather than a mouse and keyboard. It's become a pretty huge trend within the community to swap over to a controller, so it's also important to factor that into your play style.

Why is FOV Important?

For players out there who are wondering what exactly FOV is, let's get into it. Some players seem to have a better read of their surroundings when they play Apex and other games, and that's because of FOV.

At its basics, FOV is a setting in most modern games that controls how much of the screen the game will use to give players a clear view of their overall surroundings. Depending on how high or low the setting is, you will see more or less of your overall surroundings in the game. It's basically your peripheral vision in real life, think of it like that.

Players can therefore see more of their surroundings, allowing them to see players in corners, enemies running past them or even items out of view. It's a great setting to mess around with, but you need to figure out which setting is best for you. This all depends on your platform and how good your PC is.

5. High FOV

First of all, is High FOV, the setting that lets you see most of your surroundings through your monitor. This is great for gamers who want to see everything that's possibly going on around them and see the landscape. A higher FOV does some good for your gameplay but can hinder your framerate if your PC isn't the greatest.

Pros and Cons:

A higher FOV allows its users to see a larger amount of their surroundings, letting them see enemies, loot and gunfire where others can't.

If you are playing on Nintendo Switch, sticking at a FOV of around 75 to 85 is a great idea. This means you can focus much more closely on what's directly in front of you rather than off to the side. It also allows you to shoot enemies from range a little better.

6. Target Compensation

Target Compensation is a pretty rough topic amongst Apex Legends and the gaming community as a whole. Basically, this is Aim Assist, a setting on controller that gives the player some sort of compensation as you cannot be extremely accurate with a thumb stick when compared to a mouse.

This is there to ensure that console players can keep up with pc players, and give them an easier time because of how difficult a controller can be. Some players hate this and think it's overtuned, but in this setting, you can configure it to your liking.

5. Melee Target Compensation

The final setting is the Streaming Budget option within the Video tab. This is a very important setting as it allows you to keep the game clear and looking good even on low settings. If you want the most FPS you want to lower the graphics settings as low as you can. This will increase FPS but make the game look pretty bad.

This is where streaming budget kicks in as it alters how good the textures are in the game. Increasing this makes the game look better with minimal cost to the FPS
