So, you’ve finally decided to get Spider-Man Miles Morales after days of saving. You’re excited to boot up the game, no matter which PlayStation you’re playing on, and can’t wait to step into Miles’s shoes.

The first thing that came to my mind after booting up the game was that how should I enjoy this first playthrough of mine to the best of my abilities. And how will the enemies of the game be? Well, I loved playing this game but I made a few points within my head so that I can enjoy the best of this.

So, join me, as I’m about to tell you some of the best tips and strategies to play through the game. If they helped me, they’ll definitely help you.

25. Learn the tutorial. No matter what.

Explanation:

I can’t stress this enough but you will need to learn the tutorial after booting up your system. I played this game two years after its release and I completely forgot how to get my groove back on the game.

For this, tutorials are your best friend here. Learn them by heart in the beginning and you’ll be back in the mojo in no time.

How it works:

Instruction prompts will be given to you on-screen as you play.
Basic mechanics to remember:-
R2 for sprint when on the ground, swinging when on air
Square for punch, Cross for Jump, and Circle for Dodge.

24. Master the art of swinging.

Explanation:

Well, this one should be a no-brainer. Learning swinging is pretty basic and easy but mastering the tricks that come with it may take some time.

Hell, even I can’t practice those tricks mid-air! But I sure hope you do catch the drift of it. It’s a crucial part of the game and it will make your traversal all the easier!

How it works:

Press and release R2 with the correct timing.
Press the Square button while mid-air and move the left joystick in either direction to perform the tricks.

23. Use your environment. Anywhere, anytime.

Explanation:

It’s simple. Use. Your. Environment. They can be used when moving through the city via wall-running and jumping off for an extra boost in jump!

They can also be used during combat as well which can make or break your combat experience overall.

How it works:

Scan the environment using your Spider-Sense by pressing R3.
When traversing, use L2 + R2 triggers on a pole to launch jump, hence making use of the environment.
Press Triangle during combat near an object to use them on enemies.

22. Upgrade your abilities regularly.

Explanation:

What I mean by “regularly” is that every time you level up, you get 1 ability point or “Skill Point” and you get the chance to pick the ability or skill of your own choice ranging from combat to stealth, to mobility.

If you level them up and not stack them, this would provide a smooth gameplay session for you as well.

How it works:

Go to the menu.
Go to Skill Tree.
Select any ability and keep on holding the Cross button until ability is attained and repeat until Points are 0.

21. Try out different suits

Explanation:

If you remember my last article regarding suits and mods, you’ll know that each of them have a different and unique ability that can alter your play style completely!

Try out these suits for making a fashion statement or add some flair to your photos, which will bring me to the next point later below.

How it works:

Go to menu.
Go to Suits.
Select any suit that you want.

20. Use Spider-Sense all the time.

Explanation:

Can’t stress this enough but whenever you’re traversing throughout the city, you’re sure to find some hidden objects such as the Underground Crates or Time Capsules throughout New York City.

Your Spider-Sense will be your best friend here and it can help you detect crime missions as well.

How it works:

When traversing the city or going near an object/collectible, Press R3 / Right Thumbstick to utilize the Spider-Sense.

19. Use Photo Mode to capture beautiful moments.

Explanation:

The Photo Mode in the Spider-Man games is often noted to be amongst the hallmark features to be present in-game, next to the Spider-Suits, of course.

Great thing is that you can even take selfies mid-combat or mid-traversal as well! You can use the lighting and stickers to your adjustment and you can get the J. Jonah Jameson-related trophy as well.

How it works:

Go to Main Menu
Select Photo Mode.

18. Do Side-Missions concurrent with the main story.

Explanation:

Side missions are fun to play in this game since they have an interesting premise to cover as well as the fact that they feature cameos from the previous game as well!

But you should do them as soon as they appear because they will grant you Experience Points as well as Activity Tokens along with Tech Tokens which can help you Level Up and unlock more Spider suits.

How it works:

See the mini-map in-game or go to map and detect side-missions. Use Spider-Sense as mentioned above to find objects for the completion of these missions.

17. Use the fast travel system often.

Explanation:

Alright, next is that you should use the Fast Travel system frequently whenever you’re not in the mood of swinging throughout the city. (I know that’s not true but save this option as a backup.)

In the PS4 version, you can see Miles interacting with the NYC citizens same as Peter did in the previous game!

How it works:

Select a waypoint in the map and press Triangle to travel.

16. Practice dodging and Parrying.

Explanation:

Can’t stress this enough but you HAVE to know how to dodge perfectly in the game since it will build your combo meter as well as your Venom Bar and Camouflage Bar (unlocked later in the game).

If you have enough practice and finesse with this, you can rake up the combo meter to 100 where you can get a trophy as well for it!

How it works:

Press Circle to dodge and keep pressing it until you see fit.

15. Take out Snipers first

Explanation:

Snipers can be a pain. I am not kidding. One moment you are having a great combo and you’re whooping a person’s ass, next thing you know, a bullet hits you and drains your health on the spot.

The best strategy to apply is to take them out first. After that, go for broke on the remaining enemies. Trust me, this will save you a lot of time.

How it works:

Take out snipers first. Located in higher positions.

14. Mix attacks and gadgets mid-combat.

Explanation:

As Peter in the previous game did, Miles can mix up gadgets while fighting enemies that can outsmart or outweigh him.

Use these to the best of your opportunities and let your combos shine!

How it works:

Press and hold the R1 button mid-combat or anywhere to get access to the gadget menu and release when done.

13. Use Stealth whenever you get the chance.

Explanation:

The great thing about Spider-Man is that he can be both flashy as well as stealthy in a given situation.

You can sneak up behind enemies for a masterful takedown via ceiling, or wall or sneak up behind an enemy to clear the area.

How it works:

Use the command prompt to perform the takedown. Usually, by pressing the Triangle button or Square button.

12. Make use of Venom Abilites.

Explanation:

When you move forward later in the story, Miles will have the ability where he can produce bio-electricity to harm the enemies surrounding him.

The Venom Bar helps you determine how much to use or not, so make sure to use them wisely.

How it works:

Press L2 Trigger and Square button for Venom Smash
Press L2 Trigger and Cross button for Venom Jump
Press L2 Trigger and Triangle for Venom Smash.

11. Use the Camouflage ability.

Explanation:

If you want better stealth, look no more than the Camouflage ability which can make Miles completely disappear!

How it works:

Press the up button is the D-Pad to activate until the meter runs out.

10. Complete Spider-Training ASAP

Explanation:

Spider-Training are sets of missions provided by Peter in his hologram form which are related to three areas, Combat, Stealth, and Traversal.

Complete those on the way and you’ll get some sweet abilities without spending any Skill Points.

How it works:

Use Mini-Map or in-game Map to find them.

9. Keep enemies up

Explanation:

One great thing about Miles (and Peter) is that you can launch enemies in mid-air and you can KEEP THEM UP while punching and kicking them.

Once they’re up, they are literally too powerless to fight back against you, so use this to the best of your ability!

How it works:

Press and hold the Square button to launch enemies mid-air and Jump to beat them up mid-air.

8. Keep an eye out on health bar

Explanation:

When you go later into the game, you must keep an eye on the health bar as there will be more tougher enemies and they are sure to pack some heavy damage.

How it works:

Keep an eye on the top-left side of the bar indicating Miles’s health.

7. Don’t be in a rush

Explanation:

Don’t try to rush things when playing the game. Make sure you complete EACH and EVERY district side mission before you go on to the next story mission.

This will definitely make you more ready than ever for the next mission.

How it works:

Take a seat back and relax.

6. Use Dodge Under whenever possible.

Explanation:

Like Peter, Miles has his own swagger of settling combat with style. The Dodge Under mechanic is probably one of the smoothest mechanics I have ever seen.

You can even use them against heavier enemies as well.

How it works:

Press Square button and then press Circle button mid-combat.
Repeat until enemy health is down.

5. Read enemy patterns.

Explanation:

With the Underground and Roxxon forces having an arsenal of weapons and techniques, Miles can only do so much to dodge them.

Use Venom Powers or gadgets in between when fighting against the two rival groups to get an edge.

How it works:

Venom Smash on Underground Gauntlet enemies.
Venom Dash on Underground Whip enemies and most Roxxon forces.
Venom Jump on any of them.

4. Use Mega Venom Blast as a last resort.

Explanation:

When Miles is surrounded by so many enemies that he cannot fight off, he lets out a huge Venom Powered blast that obliterates all enemies surrounding him.

Use this as a last resort though, as this can drain all of your Venom Bar.

How it works:

Press the L1 button in combination with Circle and Triangle.

3. Complete optional quests

Explanation:

Thing is, the game is packed with Multitude of side-missions to choose from and it rewards you for completing them as well!

You can get Suits and other mods to complete your collection as well!

How it works:

Use Mini-Map or Map in-game to go towards mission areas.

2. Use Map frequently.

Explanation:

Sometimes, your desired mission can be oh so long that you need to travel a long distance to get there. Even Fast Travel might take some time too.

Use your in-game Map to strategize how to complete side-quests in a given area without covering too much distance.

How it works:

Use Mini-Map or Map.

1. Start the game on New Game+

Explanation:

Start the game on New Game Plus and the game will automatically reward you for this endeavor.

You’ll get the opportunity to unlock two new abilities, new Suit with mods and a chance to get the Platinum trophy if you’ve completed the side-quests and optional Trophy missions as well!

How it works:

Complete the game on any difficulty to unlock New Game +.

Valorant is a very popular game now! But if you feel like you missed on the hype then worry no more! In this article, I will be showing you which guns you should use as a beginner in order to be able to win, enjoy, and improve at the same time!

Here are the top ten Guns for beginners that can help you win and improve:

10. Marshal:

What 1000 hours of Marshal Experience Looks like (Valorant Montage)

Some might roast me for this pick, why? Because it’s the Marshal! It can’t be placed last! But this is a guide for people who are just starting out. If you’ve always wanted to be a sniper but don’t know where to begin then I recommend you the Marshal as it’s more forgiving than the Operator and can easily get used to it if you practice enough.

Marshal details:

Costs 950 Credits which isn’t much and that’s why it’s better for beginners than spending 4,500 on an Operator.
1.5 Fire Rate which is much higher than the Operator making it much more forgiving for mistakes.
More than 100 of damage for body shots and that’s quite good if you’re a beginner so you can at least do some good damage even if you miss the headshot!

What's great about this Weapon:

Low cost for a sniper that deals a fair amount of damage!
High firing rate putting in mind it’s a sniper which can be much better if you’re entering the sniper hall of fame!

9. Sheriff:

Sheriff, But it's 80% Average Headshots..

If you like the western style and always wanted to be an American hero then you would love this gun! The Sheriff is great for some short-range battles and can surely win you some games especially if you’re on the offensive side! The only downside is that you have to be a little accurate so you can one-shot your enemies before you need to reload again.

Sherif details:

Costs 800 Credits. It’s not much at all for such damage and you can buy it if you’d like to save while dealing some unmatched damage.
Short-range is the secret word here.
4 Fire rate which is a bit low for a sidearm but it’s good enough if you aim right.
A fair amount of Recoil.

What's great about this Weapon:

It’s a good choice if you don’t have many Credits and want to save a little for the next round.
Around 150 damage (which is the highest damage for a sidearm on Valorant).
It can help you improve your aim while being forgiving as you can deal tons of damage to your enemies by just shooting no matter what accuracy you have!

8. Judge:

Glitchpop judge ace!!!

The Judge, cool name right? It will make your enemies feel it’s judgment day already for them! That’s because of the damage it can deal with a good firing rate. It’s also a good cheap choice for a beginner if you want a forgiving weapon as you can still deal good damage no matter where you shoot!

Judge details:

Costs 1,850 which isn’t a lot but at this price you can think of a Spectre which is probably a better option if you’re a beginner.
Not a big range as it’s considered a shotgun.
Definitely some strong Recoil as any other shotgun.

What's great about this Weapon:

Great choice if you’re a shotgun lover!
Fast enough to make those who approach you regret it.
A good fit if you’re on the attackers side as it’s suitable for a rush-in!

7. Ghost:

Valorant: THE FLICKING MACHINE *new skin*

This is probably my favorite sidearm! It’s silent, accurate, and feels like you’re a 007 agent! This gun will help you sneak on the enemy, win games, and improve your aim as the recoil isn’t that bad! All while being so affordable.

Ghost details:

Costs 500 Credits which is considered the best option if you’re on an Eco-round!
A good range (30 m) for a sidearm which makes it suitable for any type of fight.
Damage around 105 which is fair enough to the head!

What’s great about this weapon:

The lowest cost for a gun that can deal damage, be silent, and with fair accuracy.
Typically works in all different situations.
The firing rate is good enough at 6.75 which is great, especially with a 15 bullets magazine!

6. Stinger:

Sova Ace Clutch with Stinger

This gun stings! That’s why they call it the Stinger! It’s a really cheap SMG with a good firing rate and decent damage! It’s not really good on the Recoil part but let’s focus on how cheap it is and the firing rate which can be forgiving if you make mistakes, that’s why it would be a good start!

Stinger details:

Costs 950 Credits which is pretty cheap for an SMG.
A range of around 20 m which is fair enough for most types of fights but it’s not fit for a long-range fight.
Fire rate of around 16 which is pretty insane for this price!

What’s great about this weapon:

Cheaper than most guns and can give you a good start as an SMG especially if you’re a beginner as you won’t have a lot of Credits in the first rounds.
A very good option in economy rounds.
Great performance in short-range fights which will make you dominate it if you practice enough and get used to the Recoil patterns.

5. Spectre:

Valorant | Huge 1 vs 5 Ace Spectre

The Spectre might just be the best option for a beginner if you can handle the spray method well! A good tip to improve with spraying is using strafing where you move in the opposite direction for a moment in order to steady your aim and improve your accuracy especially if you’re going to spray.

Spectre details:

Costs 1,600 Credits which is fair for almost all rounds.
Firing rate of around 13.13 which is pretty good!
A magazine of 30 bullets which is quite a lot and can be helpful if you don’t want to reload in the middle of a fight!

What’s great about this weapon:

Doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg so you can probably afford it for most rounds.
A good choice for dealing damage whether you like spraying or want to improve your aim generally.
Low Recoil so it can be really good to run and gun!

4. Ares:

When ARES wins your GAME!

The Ares is the best affordable Heavy gun in Valorant! The Odin is great but it’s hard to control like the Ares. It was recently nerfed because players found it too powerful and abused it, that’s why Riot made it a little more expensive but luckily for you, they brought it down again. It’s a great gun because you can scare your enemies with it and hold an angle but don’t get used to it if you want to improve your aim.

Ares details:

Costs around 1,600 Credits after it was for 1,700 for a short period.
Firing rate is around 13 which is great!
Reload speed is 3.25 which is super fast compared to the Odin’s 5!

What’s great about this weapon:

A cheaper option for going expendables mode!
Great reload speed as it helps to be fast sometimes.
Every wanted to have more bullets? Then the Ares is the one for you with a 50 bullets magazine!

3. Guardian:

Valorant Guardian Headshot Ace

This one is my absolute favorite! People wouldn’t understand how broken it is! You get to deal a lot of damage with only one shot! This weapon isn’t the best choice for beginners who want to have fun and kick back, it’s for beginners who want to improve their aim and get rewarded with wins immediately!

Guardian details:

Costs 2,250 which might sound a lot compared to the Spectre but it’s not much for the damage!
Low firing rate of 5.25 but you don’t need a lot of bullets if you can only kill the enemy with one!
Insane damage for headshots which is around 195 and around 65 for the body.

What’s great about this weapon:

The best weapon to improve your aim as you can feel the rewards instantly with your headshots.
Cheaper than Phantom and Vandal so it’s suitable if you want to save a little for the next round.
Insane damage, even better than the Vandal so it can be helpful even if you’re still a beginner.
Heavy penetration of armor which is also beneficial if you at least hit the enemy!

2. Vandal:

Valorant TenZ Deathmatch with VANDAL | Pretty Easy

The Vandal is a great choice for many players because it can deal high damage even in long-distance engages which is something the Phantom isn’t capable of! The learning curve for the Vandal is a bit steep but its overall performance can make it up for you! It’s not the best rifle for beginners as it needs some control while spraying but if you’re confident in your skills and ability to learn then go ahead and pick it up!

Vandal details:

Costs 2,900 credits which require some saving but it can be worth it!
Firing rate of 9.75 which is good for a rifle and even better than the Bulldog!
Fairly good damage (160 for headshots and 40 for body shots).
A 25 bullets magazine which can be enough in most cases.

What’s great about this weapon:

Best overall performance especially if you get used to the recoil patterns.
Great for long-distance engages as it can still deal a ton of damage.
Best rewarding weapon for patience as you can get a lot better with practice and climb up the ranks.

1. Phantom:

[ACE] Awesome CLUTCH in Valorant with Phantom Singularity

Phantom is mostly the go-to weapon for most players! It has the biggest magazine in rifles, can deal great damage, has a silencer which is great, and it’s the most beginner-friendly weapon as it’s easy to control during spraying.

Phantom details:

Cost 2,900 credits.
Firing rate of 11!
Headshots damage of 156 approximately.
A 30 bullets magazine.

What’s great about this weapon:

Cost the same as the Vandal which is why it’s the better choice for beginners.
The highest firing rate of a rifle in Valorant!
Biggest magazine size which can be so beneficial to save precious seconds during reloading.
Almost the same damage as the Vandal, yet another reason why it’s a very good choice over it.
Best weapon for beginners as the spray pattern is easy to control and memorize.

15: Pac-man

Pac-man is as might a foe as he is (somewhat) simple

Pac-man, hailing from the Pac-man series crazily enough, was one of many third party characters added to Smash 4. As a fighter from an older generation of games, Pac-man has a very different but simple gameplay style at the beginner level. His projectiles are easy to understand, with other mechanics that might take some getting used to but are far simpler than some characters.

While Snake may be powerful and a great zoner, Simon and Richter are simply easier to use than those before them. Because of their massive, disjointed hitboxes as well as their multiple, impossible to avoid projectiles. For beginners, these fighters will be one of the first options they come to.

Average recovery for beginners, good learning curve

King K. Rool truly delivers to both long awaitng fans and newcomers to the Smash Series alike

You might be noticing a trend here, and that would be that often the best characters are zoners. King K. Rool is an amazing beginner zoner, with incredibly powerful projectiles and an incredible passive ability with his belly armor on half his kit. If you’re first approaching this character, you’re guaranteed to beat your friends game after game.

Joker makes his way in being an incredibly broken yet easy to understand character that will guide new players to greater heights

Shifting from a bunch of projectile heavy, powerhouse characters to a character with the dreaded comeback mechanic. Joker, the second of the twelve DLC characters, is a top three character in the pro scene and barely outside of the top ten beginner characters. Thanks to his amazing recovery, comeback mechanic and simple combos

10: Terry

Command inputs aren't necessary when utilizing the simply fury of Terry Bogard

Many people would think that a traditional fighting game character would be a terrible option for beginners due to their command inputs and difficult combos, however Terry solves all of these issues. Terry is incredibly viable even without command inputs and combos, and because of this is perfect as a character a player can learn the game with.

What makes Terry good for beginners:

Amazing recovery options
Powerful, quick moves that have command inputs one can master eventually
GO!!! Meter is a perfect comeback mechanic to have on your side

9: Sonic

Sheer speed allows for some incredibly thoughtless gameplay

Sonic is one of the most recognizable faces in gaming (however there are dozens of those now), and as such is beginner friendly like other such family faces. With his kit consisting of very simplistic spin moves, a wonderful recovery, and of course the fastest moves around, Sonic opens up hundreds of possibilities for beginner players to explore with.

What makes Sonic good for beginners:

Quick movement allows for a lot of dodging and avoidance
Fast short combos that work off of his movement options
One of the best recoveries in the game that can also be used as a weapon

8: R.O.B.

Sometimes I wonder if playing R.O.B. doesn't just replace me with an A.I.

Possibly the most polarizing position on this list for experienced players, R.O.B. is a fighter that an animal could probably win with. However, it isn’t as beginner friendly as the fighters above him on this list. R.O.B. 's robotic prowess with flight, some of the fastest tilts in the game, projectiles, invulnerability and combos will make him seem like one of the best fighters to new players.

What makes R.O.B. good for beginners:

Amazing projectile gameplay
Good close-combat moves
Perfect recovery

7: Mario

Of course Mario is near the middle of the list, being a mascot character requires you to be simple

Of course, no list is complete without Mr. Nintendo himself, Mario. Mario is a wonderful character for beginners, being an incredibly recognizable face who’s overall power and ability is almost as recognizable. Thanks to Mario’s above average recovery, quick and safe moves plus his “Jack of all trades” character design, he’s perfect for any beginner to just pick up and play.

Good at just about everything, from zoning to close combat to recovery
Quick moves that are all safe on shield

Normally being huge wouldn't be a good thing in Smash, but for beginners it's wonderful

Right after Mr. Nintendo himself comes his main villain one-upping him once again in more than just design. Bowser is a beginner’s best friend, with the hardest hitting moves, invulnerability and flames that pour onto your opponents dreadful face, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Large, disjointed hitboxes + windboxes

4: Ike

Ike may be simple in character structure, but it won't be simple trying to explain how he holds that sword with one hand

Ike, a close combat swordsman and one of the most original fire emblem characters excluding present and past DLC, is by far the easiest sword-based character to understand. With no conflicting hitboxes, a massive weapon and a great recovery with powerful moves, Ike is a simple to understand and easy to use character.

What makes Ike good for beginners:

3: Ness

I hate this kid with a burning passion because of his mindnumbing simplicity

Ness, hailing from a series gone but not forgotten is by and large one of the most annoying and yet easy to grasp fighters in the game. Due in large part to his exceptional, yet sometimes difficult recovery, as well as his “Button-mashing” type game style allows for anyone to pick up the character and do well. However, a word of caution: Do not do this if you care about your friendships.

What makes Ness good for beginners:

Button-mashing just works for his aerials
Good learning-type recovery
Fast, easy to use, directional, disjointed moves
Killing grabs

2: Samus

The galaxy's most dangerous bounty hunter is also the second most easy to understand character, surprising huh?

Moving on, we have Samus, the galaxy’s deadliest bounty hunter, and also the second easiest character to understand. While her Zero Suit counterpart is one of the more difficult characters to use, Samus is the most simplistic zoning character in the game, which makes no sense because her games require complex and precise and often infuriating movements. Her kit follows a simple blueprint: special moves are projectiles or a bomb of some sort, and normals are used for close combat.

What makes Samus good for beginners:

Incredibly long grab range
Fast and directional moves
Projectiles allow for less direct interactions
Good recovery for learning

1: Kirby

The pink ball bringing doom and despair to all those in its adorable wake, Kirby rounds off this list

And of course, making number one on our list is none other than the small, round devourer of worlds, Kirby. Quite literally the single most well-designed fighter for beginners, Kirby has always been the starter character. Both in the Kirby franchise and Smash Ultimate’s own story mode, Kirby is the first and most simplistic character given to the player.

5. Druid

Love nature and aren’t afraid to start learning the spell casting mechanics of D&D? Druid is definitely a well thought out choice. Druids aren’t totally dependent on magic for combat, but their most effective hits will usually be magical--plus shape-shifting into an animal is pretty rad.

What Makes a Druid Fun to Play?:

You get Wild Shape at level 2! You can use an action to magically assume the shape of an animal that your character has seen before. It’s pretty sick to be able to change into a wolf twice per long rest.
You get to choose a druidic circle to follow at level 2, which can give you different kinds of spells and abilities. For example, at level two Circle of the Land Druid gains a bonus cantrip and the ability called Natural Recovery that allows them to recover some used spell slots during a short rest. This means your Druid can be a part of a niche group, and it’ll show through combat and aid in your role-play!
As a class, Druids are known to get powerful as they rise through the levels. They can be difficult to take down once they can use Wild Shape more often. If you want to play a character that can be intimidating in a fun and different way, Druid is a great choice.

Pick Druid if…

You want to play a nature-loving character and/or a character who is The Mom Friend.
You like being able to act as a support to your fellow players, and want to be able to heal and cast buffs.
You always wanted superpowers like Poison Ivy.

4. Ranger

I don't think this ranger has a "nice kitty". Well, it's probably nice to her. But nobody else.

Rangers get a bad rap in the D&D community for not being the strongest of classes. However, I argue that since D&D is not solely about combat that that doesn’t matter for all players or campaigns. Sometimes, you just want to role-play a mysterious hunter with a hawk buddy and a proficiency for mountain climbing, and that’s valid.

What Makes a Ranger Fun to Play?:

As I just said, rangers can be fun to create a character around. They have the mysteriousness of a rogue combined with the battle mastery of a fighter, and that can be such an intriguing combination to play.
Rangers have mild spell-casting abilities, but not enough slots or types of spells to be too confusing. So, you can have fun casting spells such as Pass Without a Trace or Hunter’s Mark without any need to rely on magic to do damage in combat.
At level 3, you get to choose a Ranger Archetype: Hunter or Beast Master. Hunter allows you to become a master of fighting wild things, and you can choose which of three techniques your character learns. Beast Master means that your character gains an animal companion that can fight in battles with you. Both allow not only engaging combat but fun role-play.

Pick Ranger if…

You like the idea of playing a druidic/nature-based class, but want to be able to do more effective non-magical damage in battle.
You want an animal companion but don’t want to deal with the complexities of being a warlock.
You want to role-play an “edgy” character and want to break the mold of rogue = edgy.

3. Rogue

That sneak attack damage is about to kick your ass.

Oh, the rogue. If you’ve heard anything about D&D, you’ve probably heard about how the rogue is usually an edgy “emo kid” who tries to steal everything that isn’t nailed down. While this is definitely a fun way to play a rogue, there are so many other cool ways you can play this class.

What Makes a Rogue Fun to Play?:

Rogues are naturally stealthy and dextrous, meaning you could totally climb a wall into a nobleman’s bedroom and stab him in his sleep. You know. If you’re interested in that.
Rogues can be spell casters if you’re interested in magic through the Rogue Archetype, Arcane Trickster. But if you’re too stressed out by the magic system, you can totally be a rogue that deals competitive damage using a combo of Sneak Attack, daggers, and pure instinctual chaos.
Rogues have specific combat actions that include Dash, Disengage, and Hide that help you to sneak around the battlefield, popping up in unexpected places to stab a guy a few times, and then disappear into the wind once more.

Pick Rogue if…

You want to play a character that has a sneaky sort of past, such as Criminal, Urchin, or Outlander.
You always wanted to be a ninja as a kid.
You want to carry your Assassins Creed obsession over to another medium.

2. Fighter

Fighters have seen some things, and this guy's no different.

Playing a Fighter may not sound very interesting, but hear me out. For beginners, the D&D magic system can be scary and confusing, so why not avoid it? Playing a fighter lets you be one of the stars of combat— you deal more damage at lower levels and get to be an expert in one of six bad-ass fighting styles.

What Makes a Fighter Fun to Play?:

Your fighter character doesn’t have to be a sword-wielding duel-seeker. You can be an expert archer, a dual weapon wielding master, a shield bashing protector, or an armor aficionado! Plenty of role-playing options available.
When your character gets to level 3, you attain Martial Archetype, which allows you to pick up another fighting style that gains you crazy abilities as you level up. More abilities equal more insanely cool battle sequences!
If you want to eventually pick up spell-casting, there are so many options for unique and easy to play builds! In fact, the Eldritch Knight Martial Archetype includes spell-casting, so it’s all there for you in the Player’s Handbook.

Pick Fighter if…

You want to be able to get right up in the faces of combat enemies and start whaling on them.
You wanted to be a knight as a kid.
You want to role-play a character that is immensely strong with above-average intelligence. This class fits well with a lot of cool backgrounds that include Soldier, Sailor, Criminal, or Noble.

1. Barbarian

Any enemy who sees this is about to pee themselves.

Have you ever just wanted to be able to kick the crap out of stuff? Role-playing a barbarian will fulfill that dream for you. And not only that--combat as a Barbarian is simple and satisfying.

What Makes a Barbarian Fun to Play?:

Hitting stuff. A lot. For a LOT of damage.
Raging! You get an advantage on Strength checks and saving throws, gain a bonus to any attack using Strength, and take half damage from bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. Basically, you can mow down anything in your path, which is a relief after a long week.
You can role-play your inner himbo OR flip the script and make a surprisingly intelligent rampager. Either way, this is a class to play if you like to do comedy role-play.

Pick Barbarian if…

You want combat to be simple, fun, and effective AF.
You want D&D to be a source of stress relief.
You like the idea of being your own action hero.

The 10 Best LoL Champions for Beginners in Season 8

If you’re new to the most popular eSport and Moba in the world, now is a great time to get into League of Legends. The game is still going strong after 8 seasons, and Riot Games is working harder than ever to add community events and tournaments to the game. With the recent release of the new C.L.A.S.H. game mode, now it a great time to get started with League.

So, whether you are a starting or returning player, you’ll have to learn a couple champions to really get started and find your role. Although Riot has a list of champion difficulties, here is a real list of the Top Ten champions for beginners in Season 8.

In the top lane:

Nasus

Nasus is a strong pick for top lane as a new player (when teamwork is less important than individual skill). Nasus’s Siphoning Strike ability is one of the few abilities in the game that has no damage cap, growing for each successful last hit you make. This makes Nasus a late game damage threat no matter how you build him. The powerful slow on Wither lets you hunt down the fastest of targets, while his Spirit Fire ability gives him good harass in lane. Nasus’s ultimate, Fury of the Sands gives him a health and tankyness buff that lets you charge into the enemies backline. You can build Nasus as either a damage threat or tank, using his Siphoning Strike to make up any lost damage, or his Fury of the Sands to make up any lost tankyness.

Maoki

An easy, yet incredibly powerful pick, this trees tankyness is unmatched. Maokai’s Sap Magic passive causes him to burst heal when attacking enemies. The more enemies attacking Maokai, the more often he gets to heal. His most important ability however is Twisted Advance, which makes him untargetable as he dashes to and locks down a point and click target. Us Twisted Advance to dodge spells and hunt down enemies, before unleashing your Bramble Smash to knock them back towards your teammates and slow their escape. Before you start a battle with Maokai, throw out your Nature’s Grasp ultimate to send giant roots forward, blocking off your enemies retreat or chasing them down.

In the jungle:

Master Yi

This wuju master is a great jungler to learn. If you can get fed early with Master Yi, you’ll be unstoppable. Although Yi is squishy, his ability to carry games at low rank make him a great champion for starters. To be the best Master Yi you can be is all about timing. Master Yi’s Alpha Strike makes you temporarily untargetable as you dash forward to a targeted enemy. Use this ability to dodge spells or gap close. If they are too far away to hit, start a fight with highlander, letting you rush into battle before dashing between your enemies, doing massive damage. And, whether in or out of combat, Master Yi’s self-healing Meditate ability gives massive damage reduction while healing you, allowing you to turn around fights, or heal between them.

Rammus

This speedy “armordillo” is a fantastic tank jungler. His tankyness lets you charge enemies without fear, and he can bring a surprising amount of damage to the table. Learning to use his Powerball effectively is very important. Since you stop your roll with the first champion you hit, don’t be afraid to flash past tanks and Powerball into the back line. Then, activate your Defensive Ball Curl and Frenzying Taunt to gain massive resistances and deal damage when hit. Finally, your ultimate Tremors will slow enemies and deal damage in ring around you, helping you lock down and destroy squishy targets.

In the mid lane:

Malzahar

Malzahar is an incredibly easy and strong midlaner, popular even in pro-play. Malzahar’s Void Shift Passive gives a temporary immunity to crowd control and blocks most spell damage, making him a safe lane pick. In lane, harass your opponents with your Void Swarm voidlings, and your Malefic Visions, which after killing a target will move onto the next, killing minions and harassing your opponent. Most importantly, your Nether Grasp Ultimate locks down a single champion for 2.5 seconds, dealing major damage and stopping your opponent in their tracks. This ultimate is incredibly strong for getting picks, so work with your jungler to get an easy lead.

Vladimir

Vlad can be played in top or mid, and his tankyness alongside his powerful escape tool makes him great for beginners. Vlad’s passive ability Crimson Pact causes him to gain AP whenever he buys health items, and vice versa making him a great choice for a tanky mage. Additionally, his Transfusion ability steals health from his enemies, allowing him to survive even longer. His Sanguine Pool lets Vlad become untargetable for two seconds and giving him a short speed boost, letting him dodge out of combat. On the other hand, the powerful damage on his Tides of Blood ability, combined with the massive 10% damage buff against all opponents hit by his ultimate Hemoplague allow Vlad to be a powerful engager. When Hemoplague wears off, Vladimir is healed for each target hit, so try to catch your enemy grouped for a game swinging ultimate.

In the bot lane:

ADC:

Ashe

The ultimate starting ADC, her Hawkshot ability gives players an introduction to vision control, and her ultimate can be used offensively and defensively to great effect. One of the game’s first champions, Ashe will always have a place for beginners. Use your Enchanted Crystal Arrow ultimate for long range picks, or close range engage/disengage. With slows on your Frost Shot passive, and Volley ability, Ashe has great kiting and pursuit potential, as she has one of the most reliable slows in the game.

Ezreal

Ezreal is a powerful pro-pick that beginners should start to learn. He’s skill shot reliant, but that allows for a lot of growth with the champion, and his escape ability makes him very forgiving. Learning to master skill shots with Ezreal will help set new players apart from the competition. Although Mystic Shot is the most important ability to hit on AD Ezreal, it’s important to remember Essence Flux as well, and the fact that you can “hit” you allies with it to boost their attack speed. Arcane Shift is probably your most important ability on Ezreal, granting you a second Flash with its blink ability. Like Ashe, your long range Trueshot Barrage ultimate is great for picking off injured enemies, or cleaning up waves.

Support:

Braum

This tanky support has great engage and good escape. He has the most powerful level one in the game, and his shield helps you learn about defending against enemy engages. His kit will help new players learn when to go forward, and when to retreat. One of Braum’s most important abilities is his Concussive Blows passive, and Winter’s Bite which extends its range. Winter’s Bite slows targets and applies the passive, which triggers after 4 hits from you or an ally, stunning your opponent. Your Unbreakable shield is direction based, so make sure you are facing your enemies when you use it to defend your teammates. Use your Stand Behind Me ability to follow engages, or jump back to an ally if you get to far ahead. And of course, your ultimate Glacial Fissure is great for knocking up opponents and creating a zone in teamfights.

Morgana

A powerful support with an incredibly Dark Binding, Morgana is a great choice for new players. Learning to use her Black Shield to prevent stuns will help a lot down the road in your league career as well. Her Dark Binding ability has one of the lognest roots in the game, so hit them as often as possible to harass your enemies, following up with Tormented Soil for a little bit of extra damage. Finally, use Soul Shackles to try to prevent engages or to engage yourself, latching onto and rooting enemies that can’t escape its range. Try pairing this with Zhonya’s Hourglass or your Black Shield so that you don’t get blown up when engaging.
