Legosi is so confused and innocent. It’s really funny!
She’s being very sexual and he interprets it differently. So cute!
He is totally freaked out! Seeing the main character sweat like that is hilarious.

9. “Wow, so you do smile.”

Legosi and Els walk back to the dorm rooms after drama club practice. Els tells him to support Bill in the show and he smiles.

What Makes This Quote Great:

Legosi walks around looking like an emo kid most of the time so it’s precious when he smiles.
Els’s reaction is a lot like the audience would be. Happy surprised!

It’s super cryptic! We all wonder what he means!?

Louis saves a Herbivore stripper from being devoured. She says he should go home afterward. The stripper then sees him with his new gang the Shishigumi and realizes he’s the boss. He then says this to her.

Louis is such a GOAT even though he’s a Deer.
We finally get to see him in action as the crime gang’s new boss. And I must say he’s doing well!
His cool temperament is awesome! He’s really a crime boss and maybe one of the best ones!

Legosi and Haru try to take the train together and get into a fight. They then have to run from the authorities together so Legosi doesn't get arrested. While running Haru shouts this at Legosi.

It’s so true! Many of the characters have agreed before that it’s hard to understand Legosi. And even harder to know what he’s thinking.
It’s cool from the audience's view because most of the time we actually do know what he’s thinking! And he’s quite an overthinker!
Everyone loves a little mystery and this quote shows how Legosi has it in spades!
It’s funny because Legosi is trying to figure himself out too.

Legosi goes to take on a criminal organization of Lions to save Haru. Goey (Gohin) the buff Panda comes to help. He gives this advice to Legosi as he helps him up off the ground after saving his life.

It's so cool how Gohin says it in the rain after shooting a Lion. He’s such a badass!
I love how he’s teaching Legosi in the middle of a mission. Lesson learned!

He has a point. Carnivores think it’s only Herbivores that are helpless but this proves that wrong. So wrong!

Louis and Juno walk in the rain together. Discussing Louis’s newfound Crime Boss status. He says this.

What Makes This Quote Great:

This quote shows just how important these main themes of the story are. In this animal world, instinct and strength are crucial.
It also makes the viewer think a lot about these themes. And whether they agree or not.
It’s just amazing to hear Louis get so deep and philosophical. He’s quite a smart buck!

1. “I knew it! This young wolf is one of a kind!”

Legosi encounters the school’s only security guard: a Rattlesnake! He then shows interest and empathy to her. She runs away thinking this about him. While he chases her.

What Makes This Quote Great:

It’s so true! Legosi is uniquely amazing! He’s kind and empathetic while being a strong fighter. Not many Carnivores are like this.
Legosi is the best main character so it’s great to see another character showing him some love!

10. Attention to Detail.

This isn’t part of the story. It’s a note from the author on how the complicated world of Beastars was made.

What Makes Attention to Detail Great:

As the title says it’s quite stunning how so many details in this world were worked out and thought of.
It’s so cool to see that even the tiniest of animals have been considered by the school. Shorties in the real world would be envious. No climbing cupboards here!
The manners of the Beastars world are complex. You can see deep thought and love was put into this creation!

9. Damn Carnivores!

At the beginning of the Manga, a male Alpaca named Tem is murdered. Everyone thinks a carnivore from school does it. This sets the stage for many related themes to be explored throughout the story. This panel shows the moments before Tem’s death.

What Makes Damn Carnivores Great:

The visuals are so dramatic and scary! Perfectly portraying Tems perspective before he’s devoured.
It Brings up a central theme of the story: Are Carnivores just hungry monsters? And are herbivores just helpless prey? This is something that’s brought into question throughout the story.

8. Legosi The Gray Wolf.

At the beginning what type of carnivore Legosi is is given to the reader.

What Makes Legosi The Gray Wolf Great:

The panels give his species and name. Showing again how detailed and informative this story is!
Legosi steps over the flower instead of crushing it. This shows how sweet he is while telling you he’s a wolf. The duality is subtle and breathtaking.
This shows how Legosi is actually quite young and so is at the age to grapple with his instincts as he does a few times in the story.

7. Show Me Your fangs!

Legosi goes to see Louis for tips on the performance lighting. Then Louis gets frustrated with Legosi’s natural intimidating body language. He dares Legosi to bite him.

What Makes Show Me Your Fangs Great:

I love how the power roles are reversed. Louis the Herbivore is obviously quite dominant in this situation.
Louis is pushing Legosi to bite him but he doesn’t. This shows how in control Legosi is. And how sweet this damn puppy is!.
Legosi’s fangs are drawn so well! And they are clean enough for a sparkly reflection of Louis!

6. Cover-Up.

Haru mistakes Legosi’s presence for a male animal wanting something more than flowers. She undresses and tries to undress Legosi as well. When Legosi finally realizes what’s going on he stops her and covers her with a blanket.

What Makes Cover-Up Great:

Legoshi does it in such a respectful way. He really is a sweetheart.
This panel shows just how tiny Haru is compared to Legosi. It’s so cute!
His claws are shown as sharp and predatory but his actions are soft and loving. Showing the duality of the animals in this show yet again.

5. “I am Happy.”

Legosi has a revelation about Haru during “Territory time”. And then another straight after in the actual moonlight. He was happy.

What Makes “I am Happy” Great:

It’s so cute how his tail wags almost like a dog’s on steroids!
It’s even cuter that he has to check his tail to understand the feeling. Just before he was thinking about how she was the first animal to treat him like a male.
The angle of the panel giving us a view from about Haru’s height is perfect to see his tail and the beautiful moonlight above.

4. Two Parts of One Whole.

The night Legosi is supposed to be acting as a lookout his feral instincts are activated by the smell of a small herbivore across the quad. He forgets everything but the struggle inside him at this moment and attacks. He then struggles to stop himself from eating Haru while listening to her heartbeat and feeling her soft fur.

What Makes Two Parts of One Whole Great:

In the panel, it looks like a protective hug. Legosi is actually struggling with his killer instincts.
If he were to eat her she would become a part of him so it’s quite poetic that he thinks this at this moment.
The inner fight of instincts and morals shown is another huge theme of the entire story. Which wins in the end?
Legosi is luckily interrupted and only scratches her. Whew!

3. The Secret Garden.

The drama club needs flowers for a template. They send Legosi and an anteater to get it. This is the first time Legosi sees Haru after attacking her in the dead of night.

What Makes The Secret Garden Great:

The tension Legosi is feeling is clearly displayed even without words. Does she know it was him???
The garden is so beautifully drawn. I want one!
This is the beginning of Legosi and Haru’s friendship. The first time they meet properly. And this is a friendship that makes the story amazing and intricate!

2. Louis Survives!

While rehearsing for the drama club’s play Louis injures his leg. Although, he gets up and plays it off as not a big deal.

What Makes Louis Survives Great:

Even as he’s falling he’s drawn to look epic.

He actually is as strong as he looks as he broke his leg and still carries on acting the next day!
Louis is just one of the coolest characters! Any panel with him is awesome!
Louis is one of the few Herbivores who acts as strong and self-assured as the carnivores do.

1. Louis The Greatest Actor.

Even with a broken leg, Louis plays the main role in the play. He plays Adler with skill and beauty that captivates all who see.

What Makes Louis the Greatest Actor Great:

Louis in his Adler costume looks amazing! He’s truly a sight to see!
As it says his performance is truly enthralling. No one can take their eyes off of him and this panel clearly shows why.
The swoop of his cape is so cool. I want a cape like that!
Louis is such a beautiful Character in and out of costume.

10. Tem's Death, Tem's Perspective.

The first scene of the show. This is the foundation the show follows on from. Leaving the mystery for the rest of the show to build off of.

What Makes Tem's Death from Tem's Perspective Great:

It highlights the fear herbivores live with from the very beginning. Letting the audience know more about the world and cast.
It sets up the mystery that keeps you wondering throughout the show. Who killed Tem???

9. Legosi Stalks Els.

After the murder Legosi keeps a close eye on Els the female alpaca. He even follows her to her dorm room.

What Makes Legosi Stalks Els Great:

It makes you think for a moment that Legosi might be the killer.
It turns out it was just to give her a love letter from Tem. Whew!
This moment displays the fear caused by carnivores with the duality of how some carnivores are just good-hearted.
Legosi doesn't ask for her to change people's opinions with the truth!

8. Haru Strips for Legosi.

Warning this scene is definitely NSFW! Legosi goes to get flowers for the drama club. Haru and he end up in a room alone. She expects him to be there for something else…

What Makes Haru Strips For Legoshi Great:

Legosi is terrified and it's so cute. He really doesn't know what's going on!
It shows how sexy Haru can be when she wants to! She's not just an innocent dwarf rabbit.
It starts the sweet relationship between them that leaves us in anticipation for the rest of the show!

7. Legosi Looks into Juno's mouth.

Legosi is looking for the killer of Tem. All he knows is the bite of the killer and so he wants to check if Juno fits the template. Juno thinks he's doing it for something else and swoons! Only to be left by Legosi straight after he discovers it's not her.

It's so funny how Juno gets so hot and bothered by Legosi.

The egg sandwiches all the carnivores munch on are revealed to be made by the eggs of one of the students. The Hen who sits right next to them all day.

Nobody knows that their eggs come straight from a classmate. Good one!
The Hen is so proud of her eggs. As she should be - apparently they're delicious!

5. Tem's Death, Riz's Perspective.

Riz tries to justify how he murders Tem. We get to see the whole ordeal from Riz's perspective.

What Makes Tem's Death from Riz's Perspective Great:

It shows how skewed his morals and judgment were when he killed Tem.
It highlights another central theme of the show: carnivore's lust for blood.
It makes you want Legosi to beat him even more!

4. Legosi Attacks Haru.

Legosi smells Haru and loses control. He launches across the quad and grabs Haru. He scratches her but luckily is distracted before he eats her.

What Makes Legosi Attacks Haru Great:

It shows that even though Legosi is a quiet and awkward sweetheart he still has a dangerous side.
It also shows that even though Haru is going through a lot she still fights to survive. She doesn't just give up!
It highlights how strong instincts are in both herbivores and carnivores which is a central theme of the show.
Legosi struggles with his dark side which is epic and inspiring because most carnivores don't fight it as hard as he does.

3. Lovebirds.

Or should I say Lovebeasts? This is a special mention of all the cute moments between Haru and Legosi.

Even though Haru is initially with a lot of other guys, she and Legosi together are just too sweet!
Even though he is huge and she is tiny they go together so well.
She's a herbivore and he's a carnivore so they are definitely a special type of couple in this world.

After eating it Legosi speaks to a moth about the importance of the life you feed yourself with.

It adds to the moral theme of the show that the animals and insects that are eaten have lives and souls themselves.
It's cool how the moth gets huge. And how intelligent it is.
It highlights how important respect for all life is. Even if you're going to eat something it deserves respect and consideration.

1. Legosi fights Riz!

At the end of the second series, Legosi and Riz finally fight! Over the fact that Riz murdered Tem.

What Makes Legosi fights Riz so Great:

All Legosi's training finally pays off and he has an epic fight with Riz.
It's so cool to see two carnivores going at it for real.
It ends in an unexpected way that is characteristic of this unique show.
It's always great to have a boss fight at the end of anything!

This awesome anime about the struggles of carnivore and herbivore life at boarding school is full of interesting characters. Here are the top 10 from good to best:

10. Riz

The large brown bear who is part of the drama club.

What Makes Riz Great:

(Spoiler Alert) - He's the murderer and he hides it the whole time. Talk about secretive skills!
He's incredibly strong and big. Scary cool!
He's a bear! And not the cuddly kind.

9. The newspaper club president.

He is the small herbivore who shouts at the club's members to get a better picture of Louis.

What Makes The President Great:

He's so tiny but so in charge!
He's honest about what the people want to see: only Louis!
His shouting voice is so cute and funny! Yet it's intimidating at the same time.

8. Juno

The she-wolf who is an actress in the drama club.

What Makes Juno Great:

She's determined and strong. She makes that known when she pins Louis to the floor! And tells him she wants to be the Beastar.
She's a carnivore but kind too.
She has the cutest crush on Legoshi. Unfortunately, he only has eyes for Haru.

7. Tem

The alpaca who dies at the beginning of the show.

What Makes Tem Great:

Before he died he made friends with a carnivore. Not many herbivores do that. It's a shame it was the wrong carnivore.

He's a dog! I just want to scratch his cute ears!
He's observant. He often knows something is up with Legosi without being told.
He's an extremely supportive and nice best friend. He's always there for Legoshi and never judges him.

This dwarf rabbit girl is one of the herbivore students at the school.

What makes Haru Great:

She is the only person in the gardening club and she loves her flowers so much. Go eco-warrior!
She is bullied by a lot of the other animals and yet she stays strong and mostly kind.
She's tiny and so cute! Everyone wants to protect her. Including me!
She's quite sexy too when she wants to be. Niiice!

2. Louis

He is the leader of the drama club.

What makes Louis great:

He's strong and determined even though he's a herbivore!
He's a great and passionate actor. He even performs with a broken leg. That's dedication!
He becomes the head of a carnivorous criminal gang and leaves school. Not that we should do the same but, damn, that's cool.
He helps Legosi against the murderer in the end by giving up his leg! Ouch!

The main character of the show. He is a carnivore but one of the less aggressive ones.

What makes Legosi great:

He's quiet and shy which is surprising for a carnivore!
He fights his killer instincts to stay vegetarian for most of the show! Not many other carnivores do that.
He's a wolf! That's awesome. Wolves are super cool!
He cares about herbivores. And he even learns to value the lives of insects. Now that's some sensitive, beautiful stuff!
He has a scent reservoir in his brain of all the herbivores he wants to protect. So sweet!
