But that’s also one of its biggest downsides.That’s because it can be tough to remain updated on just which minions are doing well in the meta right now. Well, luckily for you, I’ve got the perfect list of minions that you should be on the lookout for in 2023.

So, without further ado, let’s get started on the best Hearthstone Battleground minions.

10. Felemental

Don't ask him why he's green.

Now, you may be thinking why would you pick a minion with stats this low? Well, here’s the deal with the Felemental.

Even though his buff may seem small, in the long run, it can mean the difference between a win and a loss. And the best part is, because of how universal his ability is, it can work with pretty much any build. So if you’re on the lookout for a great minion to get in the early to mid-game, that gels with any sorta gameplan, then look no further than Felemental.

Of course, there are some situations in which the minion performs even better:

If you’re running a Demon or an Elemental build, then it has super good synergy.
Demons especially are great for this guy because they rely on consuming minions to gain stats.
You can get a golden copy of the minion to double the effect and lead to even better stat gains!

9. Mecha-Jaraxxus

Now, I’ll be honest, using this card is a lot harder than it seems. You’d think that it’s just a random value generator, but because the pool of Mecha-Demons is so small, you’re almost always gonna get something you’re familiar with.

This can be a 5/5 with Windfury, a 1/10 with Taunt or a 10/1 with Reborn. All these are both from the Mech and Demon tribe, leading to some killer magnetize synergy.

Here’s when to use Mecha-Jaraxxus:

If you’ve got some strong minions already, and want to make them even stronger, then using his Mecha-Demons as buffs can be very useful.
Because of the magnetize synergy, you can cause your existing minions to become seriously powerful.
You want a versatile game plan, that allows you to use your minions in whatever situation you see fit.

8. Felstomper

Watch out for his feet, they're mighty strong.

Another dual-tribe minion on this list, the Felstomper is kind of a weird one. It’s good enough to warrant its addition to this list, but here’s the thing, it doesn’t really fit either of the two tribes it’s a part of.

Generally, you’ll want this guy when you’re in the late-game, and just want bigger and bigger stats. Surprisingly, this makes it a good consideration in decks that have nothing to do with its tribe in the first place.

You may consider Felstomper for the following builds:

Undead oriented builds which benefit a lot from the summoning and Reborn synergies.
Builds that have a lot of minion summoning, as this will basically supercharge the minion’s Attacks.
Builds that go deep into the late-game, where incremental buffs to one’s Attack really start to add up.

7. Cyborg Drake

Now that's one way to get around town.

With this being a Tier 5 minion, you best believe it’s got a strong effect. And Cyborg Drake’s ongoing effect is definitely massive. It gives your Divine Shield minions a whopping +8 Attack. This makes it look like a direct fit in Mech decks, after all, they keep refreshing their Divine Shields so often.

But here’s the catch, high-attack and low-health builds are especially weak against Undeads right now. And because of this, the minion just hasn’t found a strong enough place in the meta, despite being a very aggressive minion.

Mainly because it allows you to make use of its powerful effect very much still. Using this, means that you are basically able to double any buffs and effects that you apply on it. And considering it is both a Beast and an Undead, you’re gonna be doing that a lot.

Consider opting for Blanchy if you want to:

Focus on in-combat buffs a lot, since Blanchy essentially makes use of them twice.
Feel like going towards the Undead side and opting for some form of Reborn synergy.
Are just looking for a generally good piece to add to your build since it performs well in a number of situations.

3. Greta Gold-Gun

Yes, her guns are actually gold. No, she won't let you touch them.

If there’s one thing that Hearthstone Battleground players know the advantage of, it’s a free golden minion. You never really turn down the opportunity to get one, and with Greta, you’re basically getting it for free.

You’ll be able to get an amazing Golden version of any of your key minions with this, and that’s sometimes the difference between just placing in a high position versus outright winning the game. There are a number of great Naga and Pirates that work well with this effect.

Go for Greta in your build in case you:

Have cards like Cap’n Hogger that are able to make use of their effects twice as well.
Want to be able to get better effects off of your other Nagas and Pirates.
Generally are looking for a solid board state with some golden minions during the endgame.

2. Blazing Skyfin

Fins in the sky? Now I've seen everything.

It’s not often in Battlegrounds that you find a stat generator early on. But Blazing Skyfin is exactly that. It is able to really go ham with its stats, especially if you manage to find a ton of Battlercry minions. This makes it a powerhouse, especially when compared to some of the other minions you can get at its Tavern Tier.

But there are other reasons why it’s such a good option too.

For one, it never really stops scaling, so you can keep this as a steady companion for basically your entire run.
Because it is a Dragon, if you manage to reach Tier 6 and get Kalecgos, you will start to get double the Battlecries, which is downright bonkers.
You may also use this in Murloc builds, which rely a lot on Battlecries, allowing your Skyfin to really up its game in value.

1. Magmaloc

What's worse than a Murloc in water? You guessed it.

This is by far the best minion to consider right now. It can basically transform into a stat generating powerhouse within seconds. And once it reaches the triple digits, it is pretty much impossible to stop it. And the best part about this minion is that it synergizes with both Elementals and Murlocs, making it a solid consideration overall. But because of how good it is, the minion has found places even in some of the other builds, like Pirates for example.

Generally, you will want Magmaloc if you:

Want a highly scalable minion, which has the potential to dish out some serious damage, without much work being required.
Want a simple way to really up your game plan, because it is a highly easy way to see a lot of value.
Aren’t sure exactly where your build will end up going, but still want a decent option that can fit into whatever game plan you end up reaching in the end.
