10. The Stranger

In this scene we are introduced to the first and main villain in God of War 4. Baldur “The Stranger” pays a visit to Kratos and his son Atreus in hopes of confronting the Jotunn Guardian, Laufey(Atreus’ mother) who had just passed away. Baldur knocks on the door demanding the Guardian to come out. The alerted Kratos tells Atreus to hide under the floor to keep him hidden from the stranger at the door. Kratos steps out to confront Baldur and Baldur starts to speak to Kratos assuming he was the Guardian. “ I thought you’d be bigger, but you’re definitely the one. Long way from home, aren't you?” Tension rises between the two gods as they both assume wrongly of each other, Baldur thinks Kratos is the Jotunn Guardian, and Kratos thinks Baldur knows of his past but he doesn’t.

Kratos urges Baldur to leave his home but Baldur does not comply and punches Kratos. Kratos tells him to leave again but Baldur refuses again. Baldur tries to combo Kratos but Kratos catches his punch and punches him like a ragdoll. Baldur gets up and returns the favor, punching Kratos through the roof. The fight then begins behind the home.

9. Jotunheim Mural

As Kratos and Atreus, now in Jotunheim, venture to the highest peak in all the realms, they come across a wall that Atreus touches by coincidence. A magic spell is lifted and an avalanche of dust falls from the wall revealing a mural of Faye(Atreus’ mom) and giants revealing her true race to her husband and son. Further down the wall, they see their first encounter with the World Serpent, their fight with the mountain dragon, the stone mason, and their fight with Baldur which had just occurred recently. They realize that it's Atreus’ story. The best part is when “Kratos’ prophecy” is revealed when Kratos spots a drawing of a marked warrior laying on the floor “dead”.

8. Modi

“There are consequences to killing a god. Why? How do you know? How do you know!?” This infamous TikTok sound is from this scene. The scene starts with Kratos and Boy finding Modi brutally battered. Modi tells the duo how Thor treated him for the death of his brother Magni. Atreus recently finding out that he’s a god, has a head bigger than the sun. He orders Modi to move which made Modi threaten him. Kratos tells Atreus that Modi isn't worth killing but Atreus still wants him to pay.

Atreus declares that they're gods and they can do whatever they want. Modi responds with an S-tier momma joke and the arrogant Atreus kills him and pushes him off the ledge. This angers Kratos greatly and the two begin to argue. The scene ends with Atreus walking away from his father.

7. Spreading Ashes

In this scene you almost drop a tear because of what it represents. Making you feel as if you truly finished the game which a lot of other games fail to do. Kratos and Atreus complete their day 1 mission of reaching the highest peak in all 9 realms to finally spread the ashes of Faye, beloved wife and mother.

The real greatness in the scene comes from what the ashes represent. In the previous games, the ashes of Kratos’ family represented his sins and mistakes but the ashes of Faye represent his developing love and devotion which led him to his redemption journey. The ashes used to mark him as a monster, but now these ashes make him into a better man.

6. Kratos’s Flashback

While Kratos and Atreus traverse through Helheim, finding their way out, they're met by an illusion. In the illusion Kratos watches the time he viciously beats down his father back in his time in Greek. It was revealed that it was not just an illusion when Atreus seemingly watches the fight go on. This is the beginning of Atreus finding out Kratos’ past and that he is a God.

5. Baldur’s Ambush

In this scene Kratos and Atreus finally open the gate to Jotunheim. As they gaze at the beauty, they're ambushed by Baldur who manages to impale the father. He regards Kratos as “just meat” and continues to provoke the God of Brats, Atreus. Atreus, still in his high state from finding out he’s a god, attempts to charge at Baldur but his father holds him back. Atreus then shoots his father, zapping him in place with a lightning spell. He takes his chance and finally leaps at Baldur but is caught and kidnapped by Baldur like nothing. The scene ends in a chase and Baldur escaping on a dragon.

4. World Serpent

As Kratos and Atreus traverse through the Lake of Nine, they find a sunken statue with scriptures on it. It read “Sacrifice your arms to the center of the water, awaken again the cradle of the world”. Kratos then throws his axe into the water but when he called it back it did not return.

Suddenly the tides of the lake begin to shift and swing their boat back and forth, almost capsizing them. When the water settles they see a giant eye which Atreus believes to be of the World Serpent. The serpent spoke

to the duo but they couldn't understand the language he spoke. The sea had now dropped revealing all the hidden land and statues.

3. Baldur Death

After their long battle, Kratos defeats Baldur but decides to spare him on the condition that he never comes near him and his son and he never lays a hand on his mother, Freya, again. Baldur ignores the conditions and soon as he gets up again he attempts to choke out his mother who allows him to, as a way to atone for the curse she laid on him.

Kratos tells Baldur that the cycle of child killing parent has to end and snaps his neck like a glow stick. The true beauty of the scene comes as a snowflake lands on Baldur’s face. Baldur says “snow…” realizing that Fimbulwinter has started due to his death and that he is now feeling snow for the first time in forever making his death a bit more sweet.

2. Blades of Chaos

This scene starts with Kratos delivering an ill Atreus to Freya begging for her help, displaying emotions viewers had never yet seen from the fearsome God of War. Freya tells him in order to cure Atreus they need the heart of the keeper of the Bridge of The Damned from Helheim. But the problem is that no fire can be lit in that realm and the Bifrost axe is useless against the dead. Knowing this Kratos is forced to dig up the notorious Blades of Chaos and the past he swore would stay buried.

On the journey back to his home you can see the atmosphere turn red and dark reminiscent of Kratos and his past in previous games. Sitting in the boat with nothing but his thoughts Kratos gets a visit from Athena but tells her to get out of his head and her illusion disappears right after.

The gloomy Kratos finally uncovers his Blades of Chaos but is once again paid a visit by Athena who bashes him and everything he is trying to be. She tells him he cannot change and is nothing but a monster, “I know, but I am your monster no longer”. Kratos said as he walked through the image of Athena dispersing it into air, ready to let out his true Spartan’s Rage.

1. Thor

At the end of the adventure, Kratos and Atreus decide to hit the hay and get some well-deserved rest. Suddenly there's a one-year time skip and the father and son are woken up to lightning striking and destroying their home. When they leave to see what's going on outside, they see none other than Thor the Aesir God of Thunder/Obesity.

[Explained] Why Did Kratos Kill Baldur?

Initial Encounter

Kratos and Baldur's first fight

In the beginning of the 2018 God of War game, Kratos is found in a cabin in the snowy woods of Midgard, in the realm of Norse mythology. He is approached by a traveler who is searching for the Jottun Guardian, who happened to be Kratos’ wife and had just passed away. The traveler, Baldur, the Aesir God of Light, confronts Kratos, thinking that he is the Jottun Guardian. Kratos, in turn, thought Baldur knew him from his title as the Greek God of War. Baldur taunts Kratos, wanting him to fight, but Kratos refrains from fighting and tells the Aesir god to leave.

Kratos finally gets pushed past his limit, punches Baldur to the ground, and warns him to leave his home. Baldur then punches Kratos through his roof, finds out Kratos is living with another person, and demands to know who it is. The two gods start their brutal battle, where Kratos finds out Baldur cannot take damage or feel pain. In the end, Kratos snaps the Aesir god’s neck and drops him right off a cliff.

Kratos and Atreus encounter Baldur once again

Baldur, who did not die due to a spell cast upon him by his mother, the Witch Freya, gathered his two nephews, Modi and Magni, to head out and find the Ghost of Sparta and his son, Atreus/Loki. They journeyed to Midgard’s highest peak to find the whereabouts of the two from the all-knowing Mimir, the Ambassador of the Aesir. They demand answers from the imprisoned Mimir, but he refuses them because he knows Odin wouldn’t allow any harm to befall his prisoner, and he also just doesn’t know of Kratos and Atreus’ existence. Without any answers, the trio leaves Mimir to his eternal imprisonment.

Later, as Kratos and Atreus are headed to Jotunheim, they’re ambushed by Baldur, who makes quick work of Kratos and discards him, calling him "just meat." He then provokes Atreus into battle, but Kratos holds him back. In his rage, Atreus shoots Kratos with an arrow and charges at Baldur, only to get captured. Kratos chases Baldur and Atreus down until they reach the realm travel room, where they resume their tussle. Baldur then directed the portal to Asgard in order to exact the full wrath of the Aesir on Kratos. After trading some blows, Kratos changes the destination to Helheim, where the trio are pulled into the realm of the dead. There they finally witnessed Baldur’s resentment towards his mother, Freya, as they watched as he spoke of a past illusion of him and his mother.

Baldur then continues his hunt and finds out that Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir are in the World Serpent. Baldur engages in battle with the snake, attempting to get him to spit out Kratos and company. He finally succeeds and reunites with the trio, in addition to his mother. Baldur attempts to attack his mother but is intercepted by Kratos. The two battle as Freya tries to stop them by entangling them, but her spells don't work. Freya finally finds her chance and catches Kratos in her vines. Seeing how Kratos was caught, Baldur manages to avoid the vines and approaches Kratos, but is cut off by Atreus. The Aesir god punches Atreus straight in the chest, winding him. Kratos sees blood, which he believes to be Atreus’ but is actually from Baldur’s fist, which was stabbed by a mistletoe arrow tied to Atreus’ quiver. The mistletoe arrow finally strips Baldur of the cursed protection spell laid upon him by his mother.

In his newfound vulnerability, Baldur and Kratos continue their face-off, but he’s quickly overpowered by Kratos and Atreus. Freya tries to save her son by reanimating the giant Thamur, but he is shut down when Atreus calls the World Serpent to deal with him.

In the end, Baldur is defeated, and he taunts Kratos to finish him off, but Freya and Atreus advise him otherwise. Kratos lets Baldur live on the condition he doesn’t come after him and his son, and he doesn’t lay a hand on Freya ever again. Baldur doesn't pay Kratos any mind, confronts Freya, and chokes her out anyway. Kratos intervenes once again and declares that the cycle of parricide must end as he snaps the neck of the Aesir God of Light for the final time, unleashing Fimbulwinter onto the realm of Asgard.

15. Kratos Vs. Poseidon, God of the Sea (G.O.W III)

Kratos and his uncle go a long way back, as their final fight wasn't their first interaction. During the wager of the gods, Kratos defeated Poseidon's warrior, which infuriated him, so he attempted to sink Kratos and his Spartan companions at sea. Kratos and company survived, so a sea snake was sent to do the job but was slayed by Kratos. Poseidon’s anger grew as the Spartans docked safely at their destination.

After Kratos thrashes Atlantis, the underwater city, in search of his mother, he tries to make his way back to the now-sunken city, but Poseidon won’t let him go peacefully. He attacks Kratos with massive whirlpools and other attacks of the sea, but they don't stop the Spartan, so Poseidon manifests himself through a statue but still isn't able to take Kratos down.

As the all-out war between Kratos, the titans, and the gods continues, Poseidon plans to finally get his revenge on Kratos when they finally meet again. Kratos comes from a previous fight, crashing into Poseidon and dragging him out of the water so they can fight. Poseidon warns Kratos that the destruction of Olympus would destroy the world, but Kratos does not care. Kratos gives him a wild beating, and while Poseidon tries to escape, Kratos crushes his eyes and finally snaps his neck, killing the god.

14. Kratos Vs. Ares, original God of War (G.O.W)

Ares and Kratos held a deal where Kratos would serve the god in exchange for power. This would all go down the drain when Ares tricks Kratos into slaughtering his own family, leading to Kratos' journey for revenge.

As Ares destroyed Athens, Athena could not get involved, so she ordered Kratos to stop Ares. He travels to get the power to defeat Ares from Pandora’s box but as soon as he retrieves it Ares senses him and impales Kratos with a giant pillar. This killed Kratos, but of course he escaped the underworld. As Ares continued his battle against the gods, Kratos came in to save Zeus. Zeus gives him a boost in power, and he attains it from Pandora’s box, so he’s finally able to match Ares’ power.

After Ares attempts to defeat Kratos with mind games and images of his dead family, Kratos lays his eyes on the Blade of the Gods, which was sent to him by Athena. Kratos uses the sword to impale Ares, finally defeating him. He pleads with Kratos reminding him of the time he saved him but his story falls on deaf ears. After Ares’ death, Athena grants Kratos the role of the new God of War.

13. Kratos Vs. Athena, Goddess of War/Wisdom (G.O.W II)

Athena, who was Kratos’ main supporter and ally, wasn't safe from the wrath of the Spartans' rampage as he destroyed Olympus. As Kratos is about to finish off his dad with the Blade of Olympus, Athena jumps in the way of Kratos’ sword to save her father Zeus and stop the onslaught on Olympus. Kratos, with no care in the world, leaves her to die and continues on to kill Zeus, ignoring Athena’s message.

12. Kratos Vs. Thanatos, God of Death (G.O.W: Ghost of Sparta)

The "God of Death" should, logically, be beyond the realms of life and death, right?The God of Death, who predates even the cycle of life and death.If you enrage Kratos enough, you will undoubtedly taste bitter death.

Kratos hears news that his brother, Deimos, is alive, so he goes to rescue him. When Kratos reaches his brother, he feels betrayed that Kratos couldn't save him when they were kids. Deimos then attacks Kratos, but their bitter reunion is interrupted by Thanatos, the god of death, who almost drops Deimos off a cliff.

The two brothers make up when Kratos saves Deimos from the fall. They fight together, then Thanatos severely injures Deimos, which induces Kratos’ infamous Spartan Rage. He rips Thanatos’ chest open and then impales him further to kill him.

11. Kratos Vs.Hades, God of the Underworld (G.O.W III)

If a man kills your brother, wife, and niece, do you really need any justification to take their soul? After Kratos killed Poseidon, Athena, and Persophone, the wife and niece of Hades, Hades sought vengeance. When Kratos threatened the gods of Olympus, Hades took his chance to settle his score.

As soon as their battle starts, Hades attempts to rip out Kratos’ soul but fails. They fight with their chained blades, which eventually get tangled and give Kratos the upper hand. Kratos uses the entangled chain as a noose around Hades’ neck, slamming his head against the ceiling and dropping him into the River Styx, "killing" him. Kratos takes Hades’ claws, which allow him to take souls.

Hades burst out of the river, revealing a bigger body and a cracked, deformed skull. After a vicious battle, Kratos uses the claws to pull out Hades’ soul once and for all. Hades’ death freed all the souls of the underworld.

10. Kratos Vs. Persephone, Goddess of Spring (G.O.W: Chains of Olympus)

After being kidnapped and forced to marry her uncle Hades, Persephone becomes the queen of the Underworld. She develops a hatred for the gods and makes a plan to destroy the world and every lifeform in it. As she offered Kratos eternity with his daughter to stay out of the way, he finds out about her plan and he couldn't stand the idea of watching his daughter die again. This leads to their final fight.

In their final fight, Persephone sports a design similar to Marvel's version of the Asgardian god of death, Hela. In their battle, she has wings, which enable her to fly and hurl her conjured rocks at Kratos. Kratos ends the battle by pounding her with the Gauntlet of Zeus.

9. Kratos Vs. Helios, God of the Sun (G.O.W III)

Helios dies in one of the most brutal and gruesome deaths in the series' and all of gaming history.He was a major villain throughout the story and was one of the most powerful as he was the Titan god of the sun.

After smashing R1 and L1, Kratos pulls Helios’ head off as if he were a Barbie doll. The god screams, his headless body flaunting his newfound ability, a holy flashlight. Kratos then carries the god’s head around and uses it as a torch.

8. Kratos Vs. Hercules, Demigod son of Zeus (G.O.W III)

Jealousy and hatred make a real ugly combination. After Kratos encounters Hera, she makes Hercules fight Kratos as her champion. Kratos was hesitant and didn't want to fight his older brother, but Hercules’ jealousy gave Kratos no choice. Hercules declared slaying Kratos the final 13th task and the way to "his rightful throne" as the God of War.

After Kratos’ attempt to reason with his brother, he is made to fight Hercules’ undead soldiers. When he finishes them off, Hercules finally joins the fight with his Nemean Cestus (large metal lion-shaped gauntlets). After a long, brutal fight, Kratos manages to disarm Hercules of his gauntlets, helmet, and armor. Hercules then tears the floor, causing Kratos to almost drop, but he saves himself with the Nemean Cestus. Kratos smashes the floor, causing it to fall on Hercules, and while he's trapped, Kratos finishes the job by pulverizing his face with his own gauntlets.

7. Kratos Vs. Hera, Goddess of Marriage (G.O.W III)

Hera was always Kratos’s biggest hater, even at his birth. When Zeus had another child outside of his marriage with Hera, the literal goddess of marriage, she ordered the death of the child, who was Kratos, but he was spared by his father.

While in her sluggish drunk state, she attempts to attack Kratos, but he pushes her to the side and advances. She then insults Pandora, which then invokes Kratos’ uncontrollable rage, in which he snaps her neck like a glowstick, depriving her of speech.

6. Kratos Vs. Zeus, God of the Sky (G.O.W III)

Son kills father, quite possibly the longest running theme in the history of the gods. Zeus gets a prophecy that he will be killed by a marked warrior among his children, so he sends Athena and Ares to detain said child, Deimos. Deimos was Kratos’ brother and Zeus’ most recent child, and he was born with the markings, so he was taken away. To keep the memory of his brother alive, Kratos painted the same markings over his body.

Zeus kills Kratos, sending him once again to the underworld. Before confronting his father, Kratos seeks the power to defeat him and discovers it in the Blade of Olympus. The two face off in a battle between father and son, just as Zeus did with his father Cronus. Kratos uses the sword on Zeus, but he returns the favor with the same sword. Kratos ends the fight with his bare hands, smashing his father's face in. As the root of most of Kratos' hatred towards the gods, Zeus finally met his demise.

5. Kratos Vs. Hephaestus, Blacksmith God (G.O.W III)

Kratos approaches Hephaestus looking for help with a quest. The god who used to be married to Aphrodite is now imprisoned by Zeus after a beating that left him looking deformed. Hephaestus backstabs Kratos for his "daughter," Pandora. Hephastus tries to kill Kratos, so he returns the favor by dropping a giant anvil into the heart of the Blacksmith God.

4. Kratos Vs Modi, Son of Thor (G.O.W 2018)

Modi’s death

After Kratos' relocation to the Norse Mythology verse, he is hunted down on the orders of Odin Allfather. Modi is among the group sent to hunt down the Spartan god. Modi, who was called the idiot son of Thor, was not well respected in his family, and neither was he in his death.

Being of no use to his brother, Thor blames Modi's death on him and beats him badly. Modi then attempts to take revenge against Kratos but isn't even able to move. His death didn't even come at the hands of Kratos, but his son, Atreus. Kratos wants to grant the beaten demigod mercy, but Atreus kills Modi against his father’s orders.

3. Kratos Vs. Magni, Eldest Son of Thor (G.O.W 2018)

Magni, who was more respected in the eyes of their father, was also on the journey to hunt down Kratos. He died from the battle with Kratos as his brother, Modi, ran away. After the two brothers started the fight with Kratos and his son, it wasn't long before Kratos would sink his axe into the head of the elder brother. This infuriated Thor, the new antagonist of the most recent G.O.W. game.

2. Kratos Vs Baldur, God of Light (G.O.W 2018)

The god with the slim build, Baldur, was the main villain in the 2018 G.O.W. game. The witch mother of Baldur, Freya, placed a curse on him so that he may not die or feel any pain, which turned Baldur into a madman. Baldur first encounters Kratos on his mission to kill the Jotunn Guardian and mistakes them for Kratos. During the battle, Kratos kills Baldur, who is then revived by his spell.

Baldur then sets out on his new quest with Modi and Magni to hunt and kill Kratos. As the only survivor and the most annoying member of the group, Kratos and Atreus discover Baldur's weakness, a mistletoe-laden arrow, which they pierced him with to break the protection spell. Kratos spares him on the condition that he leaves him, his son, and Freya alone, but he then chokes Freya, so Kratos snaps yet another neck.

Mimir, known as the smartest man alive, was not excused from Kratos’ kill list, but this time he requested to be killed. He was once the former advisor of Odin, but his selfishness caused Odin to remove his eyes and then bind him to a tree. Kratos accepts Mimir's request and beheads him, obtaining holy flashlight 2.0 except that this one knew everything that happened in all realms at any time and could talk.

5. Kensai / Thief

This is a great combination for dealing massive amounts of physical damage, while also benefiting from Stealth and Backstab. Plus, you get access to all of the thieving skills, which means that you don’t need to recruit a Rogue into your party.

What a Kensai / Thief Excels In:

Kai backstabs.
Sustained tanking.
Maximum weapon damage rolls.
Trapper skills.
Can cast spells from scrolls.

Build Details:

Character must be Human.
Character cannot be of Chaotic Good or Lawful Good alignment.
You need a minimum of 15 Strength and 17 Dexterity.
Dual class at Kensai level 13 for maximum benefits.
For weapons, use Katanas or Quarterstaffs.
Cast arcane spells from scrolls.

4. Berserker / Druid

Thanks to Armor of Faith, Regeneration and Iron Skins, this is a strong tank who deals considerable physical damage and ultimately gets full access to Druid spells. This build is fun and easy to play.

What a Berserker / Druid Excels In:

Can use the Enrage class ability, which grants a status close to invincibility.
THAC0 +14 by level 13.
Access to high-level Druid spells, including game-changers like Armor of Faith, Iron Skins, Regeneration, Insect Plague, Creeping Doom and Globe of Blades.

Build Details:

Character must be Human.
Character must be of True Neutral alignment.
Must have at least 15 Strength, 17 Wisdom and 17 Charisma.
Dual class at Berserker level 13 for maximum benefits.
For weapons, use Clubs, Scimitars or Spears.

3. Kensai / Mage

Although it takes a while for this build to pay off, it is totally worth it. This is a classic power gaming combination, with lots of melee damage, magic protection and Time Stop. The DPS of this build is practically unbeatable.

What a Kensai / Mage Excels In:

Massive damage per second, especially with Improved Haste.
Protective spells like Mirror Image and Stoneskin make the character nearly invincible.
Dual-wielding katanas grants impressive speed. If one of them is Celestial Fury +3, then you have an on-hit stun as well.

Build Details:

Character must be Human.
You need a minimum of 17 Intelligence to dual class to Mage.
Dual class at Kensai level 9 or 13 for maximum benefits.
For weapons, use Katanas or Scimitars.
Aside from your Mage Book, make sure that you use a lot of scrolls. Scroll casting is uninterruptible.

This is the best dual class build in Baldur’s Gate, period. This build benefits from the martial arts prowess of the Fighter, while at the same time being able to cast spells as a full-fledged Mage.

What a Gnome Fighter / Illusionist Excels In:

Can fight melee AND cast spells at the same time.
Can use some of the best weapons in the game, including the Flail of Ages, Celestial Fury, Belm and the Staff of the Magi.
Bonus to saves vs. Wands and Spells (up to +5, at 18 Constitution).
Awesome abilities, including Greater Whirlwind, Critical Strike, Hardiness and Smite.

Build Details:

Race must be Gnome, for the bonuses in saves and the extra spell slot.
Preferably 19 Intelligence.
Key spells: Web, Mirror Image, Blindness, Melf's Minute Meteors, Stoneskin and Chromatic Orb
For weapons, use Flails, Katanas, Scimitars or Staffs.

The Sorcerer is the best single class build and also the best build for a solo walkthrough. The main advantage of this class is that it gets spells automatically, with no need to scribe them, plus a Sorcerer can cast more spells per day than any other Wizard.

What a Sorcerer Excels In:

The Sorcerer is a spell casting machine.
Spell casting does not really depend on stats.
If you pick the right spells at level up, the Sorcerer build makes for some of the easiest playthroughs.

Build Details:

Can be Human or Elf.
Recommended stats: 14 Strength, 18 Dexterity, 16 Constitution, 9 Intelligence, 18 Wisdom, 18 Charisma.

15. Chromatic Orb (Wizard Spell)

This spell creates a magical sphere in the caster’s hand, which can then be thrown at the opponent. It is a great First Circle spell, much better than magic missile. Its damage increases as you level up, plus it gets various effects (Blind / Pain / Stun / Burn / Weakness / Paralysis / Petrification / Instant Kill).

Why Chromatic Orb is Great:

Damage increases as you level up.
Great additional effects.
Level 10 and 12 effects completely ignore the target’s Magic Resistance.

14. Entangle (Priest Spell)

Although only a first level spell, Entangle is extremely efficient. It immobilizes all hostile creatures within its Area of Effect.

Why Entangle is Great:

Hostile creatures within AoE cannot move.
Party members are not affected.

13. Melf’s Acid Arrow (Wizard Spell)

As the name suggests, this Second Circle spell creates an arrow made of acid and shoots it at the target. Depending on the level, the acid effect lasts between 2 and 8 rounds.

Can be used efficiently to disrupt enemy spellcasters.

12. Mirror Image (Wizard Spell)

Mirror Image basically creates hologram copies (illusions) of the Wizard, thus protecting the spellcaster from any hit – melee, ranged or magical. This is the best protective spell in the whole game PERIOD.

Why Mirror Image is Great:

Caster cannot be harmed, until all illusions have been hit or dispelled.
Illusions can absorb any amount of damage.
Protects caster against physical damage, as well as elemental Area of Effect damage.
A high-level Wizard can cast the spell as much as four times per battle.

11. Melf’s Minor Meteors (Wizard Spell)

Heeey, it’s Melf again, with another awesome spell! When casting this spell, the Wizard creates up to 20 globes of fire and hurls them (quite merrily) at the enemy targets. The globes burst upon impact and engulf the victim in fire.

Why Melf’s Minor Meteors are Great:

The Meteors strike as +6 weapons.
They bypass Magic Resistance.
No save.
Magic damage + Fire damage.

10. Protection from Evil / Protection from Evil 10’ Radius (Priest Spells)

Protection from Evil is extremely helpful, in that its bonuses stack on top of all other armour buffs. The fourth level, 10’ Radius version extends to all party members.

Summoned creatures are immune to most effects.
Summoned creatures have 90% Magic Resistance, 60% Missile Resistance, 50% Piercing Resistance and 40% Slashing Resistance.
There is a 5% chance to summon two undead instead of one.

This Sixth Circle spell doubles movement and attack rates for any creature, with no fatigue penalty. Need I say more?

06. Cure Wounds / Heal (Priest Spells)

I cannot overstate the importance of healing spells, especially during the early parts of the game. After all, healing is one of the main purposes of a Priest. On a side note, the Cure Serious Wounds spell can be skipped in favour of a more useful Level 4 spell, as it does not make much of a difference from Cure Medium Wounds (see below).

Why Cure / Heal Spells are Great:

Cure Light Wounds (Level 1): heals 8 hit points and cures intoxication.
Cure Medium Wounds (Level 3): heals 14 hit points and cures intoxication.
Cure Serious Wounds (Level 4): heals 17 hit points and cures intoxication.
Cure Critical Wounds (Level 5): heals 27 hit points and cures intoxication.

05. Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting (Wizard Spell)

This awesome Eighth Circle spell dehydrates all hostile creatures within its Area of Effect. A high-level Wizard can deal absolutely massive damage with Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting.

Does not affect party members.
1d8 damage per level of the caster (saving throw vs. spell for half).

Not only does this spell remove magic buffs and wards from enemies, but it also removes all negative magic effects from party members.

Why Dispel Magic is Great:

10. Yoshimo

Yoshimo is a great Rogue. In fact, he is the only pure class Thief in the original Baldur’s Gate II Shadows of Amn game. Plus, he starts out with a decent exclusive weapon – Yoshimo’s Katana.

On the downside, halfway through the game Yoshimo will betray you, and you will lose him forever. This is why I put him last on this list. However, this is avoidable (if not necessarily canon), by dismissing him right before the betrayal.

First and foremost, Keldorn is the only Paladin companion in the game, which means that he is the only NPC who can wield Carsomyr, The Holy Avenger. Second, he has some pretty cool equipment. And last, but not least, his Inquisitor class kit grants him some cool special abilities and immunities. Unfortunately, Keldorn’s Lawful Good alignment means that he is not compatible with some of the greatest companions on this list.

Baldur's Gate 2 Best Class - What To Pick

1. Warrior - Fighter

“Me axe be bloody ready!” Korgan Bloodaxe

To quote the game itself, the Fighter is a champion who “lives or dies by his knowledge of weapons and tactics.” A Fighter can be an extremely versatile character, easy and fun to play, with some very interesting kits as well.

Why Fighters are Great:

They can use any weapon and wear any armor, except mage robes.
Can spend over two points on weapon proficiencies.
Can achieve Grand Mastery with any weapon, by spending five proficiency points.
Fighters have percentile Strength.
Fighters have some excellent Class Kits, most notably the Berserker and the Kensai.

Pick the Fighter if:

You want a relatively simple playthrough.
You like to be the tank of your party and ram through your enemies
You want to be able to easily dual-class, somewhere down the road.

2. Warrior – Ranger

Rangers are warriors and woodsmen skilled with weapons and knowledgeable in the ways of the forest. While being almost as versatile as Fighters, Rangers come with several cool perks which make for a fun playthrough. Plus, Drizzt do’Urden is a Ranger – need I say more?

Why Rangers are Great:

They can use nearly any weapon and armor.
It is easier to roll ability scores of 90 or more with a Ranger.
Can choose a racial enemy and get a -4 THAC0 bonus to and +4 damage rolls bonus against it.
Have Stealth as a special ability.
Can charm animals/mammals.
Rangers unlock Druid spells at level 8 and can go as high as spell level 3.

Pick the Ranger if:

You enjoy roleplaying as a good, nature-protecting character.
You like Archery (look up the Archer Class Kit).
For some (weird) reason, you do not want Minsc in your party, or want to free up a slot for another companion.

3. Warrior – Paladin

Paladins are (exclusively) Lawful Good warriors, devoted to their code of chivalry and to the fight against evil. Paladins are essentially warriors buffed against evil, which is obviously helpful for most of the game. On the downside, your character race is limited to Human, and Paladins cannot dual-class.

Why Paladins are Great:

Can Turn Undead once they reach level 3.
They have the Detect Evil and Protection from Evil special abilities.
Can cast Cleric spells upon reaching level 9.
Paladins have a passive -2 bonus to all saving throws.
The Lay on Hands healing ability.

Pick the Paladin if:

You want a great fighter with extremely helpful special abilities.
You like fighting evil, for great justice!
You want to wield the awesome Purifier +4 bastard sword.

4. Priest – Cleric

Clerics are the ultimate support class. They are renowned healers, with their own spell book to boot (the Priest Scroll). Unlike Mages, Clerics do not need to learn new spells from scrolls. Instead, they learn them as they level up. Furthermore, Clerics can wear any armor and use a variety of weapons. The Cleric class is also extremely popular for dual-classing or multi-classing (as the second class).

Why Clerics are Great:

They are the best healers out there.
They have their own set of spells that they learn automatically.
Clerics can wear any armor and use practically any blunt weapon.
Have the ability to Turn Undead.

Pick the Cleric if:

You enjoy playing a supporting role in your party.
You like a character who is essentially a battlemage – a decent fighter that casts powerful spells as well.
You want to use it as a great dual-class or multi-class option.

5. Priest – Druid

“Yes, oh omnipresent authority figure?” Jaheira (technically a Fighter/Druid, I know, but I just had to have her on this list)

Basically, Druids are to the Priest class what Rangers are to the Warrior class. They are very much in tune with nature, sworn to protect its perfect balance. This is why Druids have a True Neutral alignment. Only humans and half-elves can become Druids. Like Clerics, Druids can use priest spells, albeit their set of spells is quite different (all nature-related) and somewhat limited.

Why Druids are Great:

Cool spells (Earthquake! Firestorm!)
Shapeshifting! A Druid can shapeshift into a wolf or bear, once per day.
Immunity to poison, starting at level 15.
Elemental resistance, starting at level 18.

Pick the Druid if:

You enjoy playing as a fighter, but with some very cool spells under your belt.
You like to switch between attack and support roles all the time.

6. Priest – Monk

Monks are priests who fight with their bare hands. Yup, you read that right. This is probably the most limiting class in the game: can only be human, cannot dual-class, cannot wear armor or use shields, can use only a few single-handed weapons. So why bother picking the Monk? Well, all those limitations come with an awesome set of perks!

Why Monks are Great:

Bonuses to saving throws vs. spells.
Unarmed attacks have the range of two-handed weapons and get THAC0 and damage rolls bonuses.
Extra unarmed attacks per round (as you level up).
Bonuses to AC vs. missile attacks (as you level up).
Immunity to Disease, Slow, Haste, Poison, Charm and to non-magical weapons (as you level up).
Monks get the Lay on Hands healing ability.

Pick the Monk if:

You want to become a true Lawful killing machine, without worrying too much about equipment.

7. Rogue – Thief

The Thief is your basic cloak-and-dagger class. They can open locks, find and disarm traps, detect illusions, hide in shadows, move silently and steal items from NPC’s. But with access to some awesome weapons like Katanas, Wakizashis and Scimitars and the ability to backstab, Thieves can be extremely dangerous on the battlefield as well. Any Race can choose the Thief class.

Why Thieves are Great:

Can set and disarm traps.
Can hide in shadows and move silently, essentially becoming invisible.
Can unlock doors and chests, can steal from NPC’s
Thieves are great for dual classing.
Thieves have some awesome Class Kits, like the Assassin and the Swashbuckler.
Backstabs!

Pick the Thief if:

You enjoy a more covert playthrough.
Any party needs a Thief – by taking on that role yourself, you free space for other companions.
You want to join the Thieves Guild (obviously).

8. Rogue – Bard

Bards are the Joker cards in the Rogue deck, being able to do a little bit of everything. They have a high Lore rating, can pick pockets as well as cast spells, and enjoy a wider choice of weapons and armor than Thieves.

Why Bards are Great:

Bards have the highest Lore rating of any Class.
They have the Bard Song special ability, which protects the party against fear.
Bards level up faster than other Classes.
The Blade is one of the most interesting Class Kits out there.

Pick the Bard if:

You are looking for a non-standard, improvise-as-you-go playthrough.
You enjoy experimenting all the time.
You do not like to take things too seriously.

9. Wizard – Mage

The Mage is a classic class (sic!) that needs no introduction. Obviously, mages cannot wear armor (only robes) and are limited to only a few weapons (staffs, daggers, slings and darts). Only humans, elves and half-elves can become Mages. They can learn almost any spell, with the notable exception of healing spells, which are reserved for Priests. However, you should consider specializing your Mage in one of the eight schools of magic, turning him/her into a true powerhouse!

Why Mages are Great:

Specialist Mages are a force to be reckoned with on the field of battle.
Casting powerful spells is one of the best parts of gameplay!

Pick the Mage if:

You like to strategize a lot.
You enjoy turning the battlefield into an apocalyptic scene.
You are good at making quick decisions and playing chess with your opponents.

10. Wizard – Wild Mage

Wild Mages are a (relatively) new class in the BG world, first introduced with the Enhanced Editions. They mostly resemble Mages, with one very important difference – Wild Mages are unpredictable AF!

Whenever a Wild Mage casts a spell, there is a 5% chance of a Wild Surge, which can have a positive or negative outcome. Furthermore, they always have -5 to +5 adjusted range to their levels, every time they cast a spell.

Why Wild Mages are Great:

You can turn their unpredictability into an advantage, becoming more powerful than any other mage out there.
They have several very cool class-exclusive spells – Nahal’s Reckless Dweomer, Chaos Shield and Improved Chaos Shield.

Pick the Mage if:

You want to bring total mayhem with you, wherever you go.
You enjoy gameplay that is unpredictable and fun.

11. Wizard – Sorcerer

Sorcerers are probably the most powerful Wizard class. They sure don’t look the part at first: they cannot even scribe spells into their spellbooks as other Wizards do. While seemingly weak on lower levels, the Sorcerer class starts to truly shine as the game progresses, with devastating effects for your enemies.

Why Sorcerers are Great:

Instead of scribing spells, they learn them as they level up
A level 10 Sorcerer can cast a total of 26 spells, with no need to select and prepare them ahead of time. This number goes as high as 40 spells, by level 15.

10. Taralash

“Taralash was a hunter renowned for his ability to track down even the fleetest of quarries by foot. Few animals ever escaped once he had them in the sights of his mighty longbow.”

Taralash is one of the best bows in the game. Besides having great stats, it increases the wielder’s movement rate, and can be upgraded from a +4 to a +5 weapon in Throne of Bhaal.

Where to get Taralash:

Looted from the Huntress in the Watcher’s Keep Final Seal, after using the Heart Key.

Why Taralash is Great:

Increases movement rate by 2 points.
Cespenar in Throne of Bhaal can upgrade it to +5. You will need the Bowstring of Gond to upgrade.

9. Mace of Disruption

“This heavy mace was created for a very specific purpose: to slay undead. Any such creature hit by it not only feels the sting of the weapon, but also has a chance of being simply blasted from existence. There are legends that speak of a priest so holy a single glancing touch could send a vampire to oblivion, but whether the weapon empowered her, or she empowered it is a topic for theologians.”

The Mace of Disruption is THE ultimate weapon against undead enemies, since each hit has a chance of obliterating them. While it is described as a +1 weapon, it actually strikes as a +3 weapon regarding damage immunity. Furthermore, it can be upgraded to a +5 weapon.

Where to get the Mace of Disruption:

It can be found in a blood pool in Bodhi’s Hideout during Chapter 3.

Why the Mace of Disruption is Great:

Strikes as a +3 weapon.
2d6+4 damage vs. undead.
Undead must save vs. death, at a penalty -4, or be destroyed.
Each successful hit casts Larloch’s Minor Drain on the target (no save).
The smith Cromwell in Athkatla can upgrade the weapon to +2, which will actually strike as a +5 weapon and give the wielder immunity against Level drain. You will need illithium ore to upgrade.

8. Axe of the Unyielding

“This axe was last seen in the gnarled fists of Glimred Heavyhand, an aging dwarven hero who disappeared in the deepest caverns beneath the Marching Mountains.”

The Axe of the Unyielding is a +3 weapon which gives you a bonus to AC, as well as HP regeneration. When upgraded to a +5 weapon, it has a powerful vorpal on-hit effect.

Where to get the Axe of the Unyielding:

Looted from Rock, one of the minotaurs on the fourth floor of Watcher’s Keep.

Why the Axe of the Unyielding is Great:

-1 bonus to AC.
Wielder regenerates 1 HP per round.
Cespenar in Throne of Bhaal can upgrade it to +5. Once upgraded, it gets a +1 bonus to Constitution and a 10% chance of decapitating opponents with each successful hit. You will need Baalor’s Claw to upgrade.

7. Crom Faeyr

“This is the true name that the dwarven weaponsmith, Silverblade, gave to the weapon he intended to create for his son. Alas, his son died before the weapon was ever completed, but here it stands complete... forged from the combined magic of the original hammer with the gauntlets of ogre power and a girdle of frost giant strength. Crom Faeyr gifts its users with all the powers of the original Hammer of Thunderbolts, in addition to enormous strength and the ability to kill golems, ettins, and trolls in one blow.

Crom Faeyr is an awesome +5 warhammer that maximizes the wielder’s strength. It instantly kills Trolls, Ettins, Stone and Clay Golems on hit. On the downside, you will need to sacrifice three powerful items in order to create it.

Where to get Crom Faeyr:

Obtained by combining the Crom Faeyr Scroll, Hammer of Thunderbolts, Gauntlets of Ogre Power and the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength. The smith Cromwell in Athkatla can forge it, for 10,000 gp.

Why Crom Faeyr is Great:

Wielder strength is set to 25.
The strength bonus stacks with the +5 in THAC0.
+5 non-magical electricity damage (no save).
Slays Stone Golems, Clay Golems, Ettins and Trolls on hit.

6. Celestial Fury

“When Chin Yi's beloved was cut down by a yuan-ti warlord, her grief was terrible and her wrath immediate: Ignoring Kwan Ying's warnings, she flew onto the battlefield and took up her beloved's katana, using the blade to cut down the warlord and all those who served him.”

A +3 Katana, Celestial Fury is probably the best weapon for the Rogue class in Baldur’s Gate II. Aside from inflicting serious damage, it also has two active abilities, plus it stuns opponents who fail to make a save vs. spells and has a chance of inflicting electrical damage.

Where to get Celestial Fury:

Looted from Koshi the Guarded Compound in the Temple District of Athkatla.

Why Celestial Fury is Great:

Stuns targets on hit, if they fail to save vs. spells.
5% chance to inflict 20 points of electrical damage.
Wielder can cast Blindness (once per day).
Wielder can cast Lightning Strike (once per day).

5. Foebane

“The archmage Demron created this powerful blade for Captain Fflar of Myth Drannor. When the elven city fell, the sword was lost beneath the rubble of the once-great metropolis.”

Foebane is a +3 Bastard Sword, which can be upgraded to +5 in Throne of Bhaal. It deals bonus damage against demons and devils. It also has a drain HP on-hit ability that proves very useful.

Where to get Foebane:

Foebane can be found on the first floor of Watcher’s Keep.

Why Foebane is Great:

+6 slashing damage vs. undead, shapeshifters, demons and devils.
-1 bonus to all saving throws.
Each successful hit casts Larloch’s Minor Drain on the target (no save).
Cespenar in Throne of Bhaal can upgrade it to +5. You will need Fflar’s Scabbard to upgrade.

4. Shortbow of Gesen

“The finest bow crafted by Gesen Khan, this weapon draws energy from another plane, firing spears of lightning instead of arrows... and therefore never requiring ammunition of any kind. A side effect of the bow bestows protection from electricity upon the user.”

Arguably the best bow in the game, the Gesen Bow is a +4 shortbow that requires no ammunition. It also deals electrical damage.

Where to get the Shortbow of Gesen:

Crafted by the smith Cromwell from the Gesen Bow Shaft and the Gesen Bow String.

Why the Shortbow of Gesen is Great:

When no ammunition is equipped, it will fire an infinite supply of +4 arrows.
Deals +1d8 Electricity damage.
Wielder gets +20% Electrical Resistance.

3. Flail of Ages

“This flail has been in the care of Lord de'Arnise for some time, a relic of his adventuring youth. The flail was the creation of the warlike rakshasa, a race of vengeful spirits that crave human meat, and used as an adaptable weapon that could suit any battle.”

The Flail of Ages is a +3 flail that deals elemental damage – Acid, Cold and Fire. It is an excellent weapon for killing trolls and also for interrupting enemy spellcasters. It is by far the most powerful flail in the game. Like Foebane, it can be upgraded to a +5 weapon in Throne of Bhaal.

Where to get the Flail of Ages:

It is obtained by forging the three different flail heads found on the first floor of the de’Arnise Keep.

Why the Flail of Ages is Great:

Elemental damage: +1 Acid, +1 Cold, +1 Fire.
The elemental damage bypasses melee resistance, saves do not apply.
It is great for testing out the various immunities of opponents.
Cespenar in Throne of Bhaal can upgrade it to +5. You will need the Flail Head (Poison) and Flail Head (Electric) to upgrade.

2. Carsomyr

“Carsomyr is a weapon of legend, perhaps one of the most powerful blades ever forged on Faerûn, though its origin and history is thought purposefully forgotten so that the sword itself shall never overshadow the importance of the struggles that must be fought today. The evils of the realms must truly stand aside when this weapon is brought to bear, their magic dispelled with a word, steadfastly resisted with ease.”

Also known as the Holy Avenger, Carsomyr is one of the most legendary weapons in Baldur’s Gate II. It is a +5 Two-handed sword with bonus damage against evil opponents and the ability to dispel magic. It can be further upgraded to +6 in Throne of Bhaal. On the downside, it can only be wielded by non-evil aligned Paladins.

Where to get Carsomyr:

You can loot it after slaying the red dragon Firkraag in Firkraag’s Maze.

Why Carsomyr is Great:

+5 extra damage vs. chaotic evil.
Dispel Magic three times per day (at level 15).
Dispel Magic on each hit (at level 30).
Cespenar in Throne of Bhaal can upgrade it to +6. You will need the Eye of Tyr to upgrade.

1. Staff of the Magi

“This type of staff is thoroughly linked to the image of the spellcasting profession, rare though it is. It is among the most powerful tools that a wizard can possess, the culmination of complex enchantments and endless study. The quintessential Mage item.”

The awesome Staff of the Magi is by far the best weapon for a Wizard class character in Baldur’s Gate II, period! It is a +5 quarterstaff with amazing special abilities (equipped and combat) and some serious melee damage as well. This weapon is a true powerhouse.

Where to get the Staff of the Magi:

The staff is dropped by Layene in the Twisted Rune Hideout. But take heed – it is only available during Chapters 2, 3 and 6!

Why the Staff of the Magi is Great:

Armor Class +2.
Saving Throws +2.
Invisibility.
Immunity to Charm.
Protection from Evil.
Fireball (three times per day).
Lightning Bolt (three times per day).
Spell Trap (once per day).
Dispel Magic on each hit (at level 30).

God of War Bosses, Ranked Weakest to Strongest

Not All Bosses Are Made Equal.

PS4's God of War is known for its masterpiece of a story and its top-notch combat. Its narrative often crescendos with its most magnificent combat moments: the boss fights. But like every other game, some boss fights are harder than others (and some are just annoying). Here's a look at every boss fight in the game, ranked from weakest to strongest.

11. The Stranger (First Baldur Fight)

Battle of the Beards.

After a pleasant walk with your son Atreus, The Stranger comes a-knockin’ to stir shit up. What follows is a glorious – if easy – battle that sets the stage for the sheer scale of God of War.

Okay, in-lore, the guy is unharmable and unbeatable during this first boss fight. However, he does have a health bar, and once you deplete it the fight is “won”. This fight is epic and gives the player a visceral feeling of massive power. Still, the battle is clearly made to be won as a way to achieve that powerful feeling. The Stranger’s moves are completely telegraphed and easy to deal with, so the fight itself is no real struggle.

10. Baldur and Freya (Final Fight)

Chokes on Chokes.

After a longer, less pleasant walk with your son Atreus, Baldur comes a-knockin’ again for the final showdown of the game. But this time, his mom helps him.

This is another tremendously satisfying fight that lacks in the difficulty department. The mechanics involved in this final fight are far more varied and interesting than those of the initial stranger fight, but none of them present a real threat. The problem is that most players have top-level gear by the time they get to the fight, so any damage Baldur does is easily shrugged off. Still, it’s an exhilarating battle.

9. The Trolls (Standard)

Does he carry that around all the time?

The standard Trolls are thrown into various pockets of the game’s world, and their movesets are virtually identical. Good thing they’re fun to fight...oh wait.

Trolls have very little moveset variation, and the moves they do use are incredibly slow. All you have to do is dodge, whack their knees, and occasionally throw an axe at their heads. The only trouble with trolls is that if you do get hit, you’ll take heavy damage. But you probably won’t get hit.

8. Grendel of the Ashes and Frost

This makes me want to watch Trolls 2.

You know who I’d fight if I had a million dollars? Two trolls at the same time.

Grendel of the Ashes and Frost provide a challenge that’s a step up from the standard trolls. Fighting two trolls at once is certainly harder than fighting one troll. It’s just math. Still – they’re just trolls.

7. Magni and Modi

Modi is there too, I promise.

Thor’s sons underestimate Kratos and taunt Atreus. So the bar for “great strategies” is set pretty low on this fight.

Is this one really a surprise? These two are clearly compensating for something. This fight is basically two against one, and it will still take most players two tries at most. The brothers’ moves are easy to outmaneuver, and half of the fight is essentially a quick time event.

6. Hraezlyr

I don't think that thing plays fetch.

Hraezlyr is a huge dragon. That’s his whole thing.

The Hraezlyr boss fight harkens back to God of War 3. You find yourself in a somewhat cramped space dodging huge AOE attacks and sneaking combos in. There’s a rhythm to it that isn’t overly hard to find, but mistakes can be costly. The necessity to run and grab projectiles without getting hit adds a distraction that makes this fight more difficult. Plus it’s a big scary dragon, so intimidation factors in.

5. Mattugr Helson

And now I'm sad there's no Trolls 3.

After a grueling trek through Hel, Kratos is faced with an enormous and powerful bird creature looming over him. But he fights a troll instead.

Mattugr may be a troll, but fighting him is a completely different experience than fighting standard trolls. The lack of Atreus’ assistance coupled with the fact that Kratos is equipped with relatively new weapons means any player can easily be thrown off. Beyond that, Mattugr’s moveset is fast-paced for a troll. He teleports around the arena, making him difficult to pummel. This might take a player 2 – 3 tries.

4. Ancients

Nature Walks.

Ancients are a category of boss that function virtually identically to each other. And man are they frustrating to fight.

Ancients should, theoretically, be easy to take down. They’re slow and they have a great big target in the middle of their torsos. However, the only way to hurt them is to throw your axe at that target, which only opens while an Ancient is lobbing ranged attacks at you. This makes dodging extremely tricky. And that beam move of theirs is straight up cheap.

3. Svartaljqfurr

He either has no nipples or A LOT of nipples.

Muster up your feelings about dark elves in this game. Now multiply those by 100.

Svartaljqfurr may be more difficult to pronounce than he is to defeat, but that’s not saying much. This guy is a super-charged dark elf, meaning he brings the full annoyance of their move set with an extra heaping of bullshit. If he blinds you, good luck.

2. The Valkyries

Stomped.

The eight Valkyries are optional bosses, and provide some of the greatest challenge in the game. I’m lumping them together, but make no mistake – each one provides its own grind of a fight.

Valkyries push players to their limit when it comes to combat skill, and demand near-perfection. Each one has a variety of moves, and while there is significant overlap, each has its own gimmick meant to make you cry. From Rota’s maniacal curb stomps to Hildr’s added time-test component, these bosses throw cruel curveballs with glee. They’re difficult to dodge, deal massive damage, and have absurd amounts of health.

1. Sigrun

I can show you the world...

Sigrun is the Valkyrie Queen. Sigrun is the VALKYRIE. QUEEN.

Sigrun has damn near every move of every previous Valkyrie. She is relentless, she can and will one-hit K.O. you, and there are legends that her health bar is so big that it stretches all the way around the earth. You need to be perfect to fight her, and you need to make sure you have a few hours free. It’s also a good idea to keep in mind that your controller costs 60 dollars. Okay, it still might be worth throwing it.
