Calling all heroes and villains! One of the most difficult questions you will ever be asked in your life is this: Which Marvel Movies take the Superhero Award for best film? The marvelous world of Marvel continues to enchant and impress die hard superhero fans. With a galore of sequels and remakes, it’s challenging to narrow it down to the top 10 best.

10. Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Toby Maguire stands firm in his original title of Spider-Man. In this third film of Maguires spidey- spotlight, a dark entity latches itself onto Peter Parker and transforms his heroic persona to evil. He must navigate now between good and evil and battle the biggest villain of all: himself.

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 stole Marvel fans' hearts. Maguire did a wonderful job in the first two films taking on the role of Spider-Man. His awkward and offbeat human personality contrasted nicely with Spider-Man’s confidence and heroism.

The third film takes a massive turn as the dark alien, Venom, binds itself to Peter. Parker has always been known for being the “nice guy.” It’s quite refreshing and shocking to watch his character take a 360 turn. Parker proves to be a major jerk as he fashions his wardrobe into a more suitable fashion to meet Venom's needs.

Incredible new and powerful super powers are granted to Spider-Man with help of his dark alibi. Our well known red- suited web slinger now sports a black costume.

What makes the film one of the best is the erie wave of doom and chaos Venom creates. His whispers and grunts can be heard speaking to Peter convincing him to select the hurtful options. New and old characters step into the scene creating familiarity and excitement for returning fans.

Parker’s old friend, Harry Osborn seeks revenge upon Spider-Man and teams up with the Sandman. Osborns turn creates immense turmoil between the two leaving movie watchers holding onto their seats for the next scene.

Venom's appearances are remarkably terrifying. Bringing this slimy, black creature to life tied the whole film together with its awesome graphics and disturbing visuals. The storyline is simple to follow and the truth behind it unfolds quickly.

Parker realizes Venom is a corruption to his life and wishes to rid it despite the powers and promises it holds. Directors did a superior job in separating Venom from Spider-Man. Clanging of bells is torturous to the black monster, so Parker swings up to the church bells in hope the clangs will kill it.

Watching this scene unfold is so haunting and undoubtedly one of the best clips of the cinema. Moans and screams of pain and agony echo from the tower as Venom unravels itself from our legend, Spider-Man.

The film captures the symbolic meaning of Parker’s human conflicts. Venom is beautifully displayed as his inner demon. As human Peter is battling relationships and past struggles, Venom entices him with promises of strength and wealth.

9. Iron Man (2008)

Robert Downey Jr, need I say more? Opening night of Iron Man had Marvel lovers surging with anticipation. Tony Stark is assigned to present weapons to an Iraqi leader. Of course, all goes to the pits as chaos breaks loose and Tony is wounded thus initiating his invention of an iron suit.

Iron man became wildly successful amongst fans and received high ratings. The film's ongoing comical component and quick- wits began a whole new world for upcoming Marvel films.

The storyline is a bit more humdrum than other Marvel films, but the fire explosions and endless dark humor definitely keep the movie afloat. Downey does a remarkable job by adding crude remarks and hilarious, straight- faced, one liners.

Even the most serious of scenes are followed by laughter thanks to Tony Stark's optimism. No super hero is complete without a heroine, as Pepper Potts compliments Iron Man perfectly. Pepper is not the average damsel in distress. Rather, the movie illustrates her character as a tough, independent woman.

Explosive weapons and roaring eruptions linger throughout the program. It’s non- stop action and surprises glue the audience to the screen. If an award for most comedic superhero were to exist, Iron Man easily wins.

8. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Andrew Garfield proves to be a perfect fit in the remake of The Amazing Spider-Man. The remake follows a teenage Peter Parker in a new adventure to save the world from a mad scientist. Parker’s spider bite at Oscorp lab begins his duties as Spider-Man as he must face Dr Curt Connors after his experiment to regrow limbs goes south.

Many were upset and unsure about this new Spider-Man after Toby Maguire took the crown in the original movies. Andrew Garfield captivated the audience quickly with his awkward yet charming character. Emma Stone's appearance as Gwen Stacy adds a major appeal to young viewers.

Following in the light of its father movies, The Amazing Spider-Man does not lack surprises and action. Garfield puts his heart and soul into balancing Peter's cringy oddball nature with Spider-Man’s cleverness and grace.

Rapidly, Garfield built up a great name for himself and Spider-Man. The film is evenly coated with quirks, twists, and turns. Dr Connors character mutates into a genetically enhanced lizard terrorizing the town and residents.

Our lizard villain is both funny and unsettling to look at. His transformation from man to reptile is rather alarming, but it would not be a Marvel production if it lacked emotional discomfort. It portrays a clear and easy to follow storyline while also adding pop ups and reveals here and there.

Garfield's performance continues Marvel's pull to a more light- hearted and humorous take on their films. Luckily the producers remained true to Spider-Man’s original super power abilities and storyline regarding Parker’s relatives. Fans were restless for a sequel with the new and improved webbed hero.

7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014)

Marvel really went “out of this world” in the making of Guardians of the Galaxy. Peter Quill is captured by aliens thieves who take him away to a foreign planet. Quill steals a valuable orb that is desired by numerous empires. Peter befriends a group of raunchy space goers as they race to obtain the orb, preventing it from landing on the wrong hands.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a commercial success, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 2014. Animation artists went above and beyond in constructing the wild and whimsical creatures of the movie. Disgusting and dreamy beasts leave viewers enthralled.

The tale is overflowing with detailed background history and supporting characters and storyline. Human, Peter Quill, and alien woman, Gamora's tension whisks in interesting and romantic sparks.

Let us not forget the characters that keep a constant smile on our face; Groot, Rocket, and Drax. Talking raccoon, Rocket is a sight to behold. He and Quill's relationship is rocky to start, but they grow fond as the movie progresses.

You can’t help but adore Groot and Drax as they add comical relief and stupidity to the graveness of the Marvel cinema. The unlikely team of humans, aliens, animals, and flora are unlike any other superhero movie.

Unusual planets and weaponry are wonderful on the eyes and keep the audience in awe during the whole movie. Visually stunning and well scripted scenes have given Guardian of the Galaxies a fantastic rapport in the world of Marvel.

6. The Avengers (2012)

Calling all Marvel superheroes! Suit up and let’s begin our biggest and most epic journey yet! This was massive as trailers and news about our favorite superheroes teaming up hit headlines. The gang is recruited to stop Thor’s brother, Loki, in his deadly device to take over planet Earth.

The Avengers rapidly grossed more than 1.5 billion dollars worldwide. It became the first Marvel flick to rack up one billion dollars in ticket sales. Sweeping away box office records, it became the third highest-grossing film of all time.

The cinema displays some of the most gorgeous visual effects, screenplays, and musical scores. Its nomination for Best Visual Effects was one of many nominations along with countless other awards. It set a major record for Marvel setting standards high for any upcoming movies.

Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Hawk-eye, and Black Widow are a handsome combination of characters. Each hero has their own hard headed and unique personality, setting the film up for some extreme diversity and arguments.

The acting and action sequences seem to have no end. I became tired myself watching The Avengers battle nonstop, wondering if they ever grow weary. Each Avengers back- story is accurately accounted for and properly taken into consideration.

As always, Marvel stays on their role of piecing comedy and seriousness together appropriately. Clear and concise, the storyline remains simple yet detailed to keep the viewer engaged. Monumental strides were taken upon producing the motion picture.

Watching all our beloved warriors join forces is historical in Marvel productions.

5. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Ah, yes. Yet, another young Spider-Man webs his way onto the big screen. Tom Holland returns in his third Spider-Man film. After Peter Parker is revealed as Spider-Man, he begs Doctor Strange to cast a spell to make everyone forget this identity. Unfortunately, it goes horribly wrong.

This third Spider-Man film takes fans on an absolute spiral of a ride. The film surpassed its brother movies as the highest-grossing film released by Sony Pictures. Also, it reeled in 1.9 billion dollars worldwide putting it above all other Spider-Man films.

The movie is a constant stream of incredible action and non stop surprises. What creates such a delicious appeal is the return of Parker’s old nemesis’ as well as the Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. A ton of hard work was put into the film to pull characters from all three Spider-Man films and tie them all together.

Ocatvius, Green Goblin, Curt Connors, and Osborn make menacing appearances. The movie's storyline could have easily become jumbled with the clashing of all three films. Producers and directors nailed it on the head by maintaining a complex plot while creating a smooth and easy-to-follow script.

Marvel fans overflowed with nostalgia as they watched beloved heroes and villains step back into the spotlight. There are no dull moments or unnecessary gaps. It’s jammed packed with back flashes, betrayal, and emotions.

The concept of the “multiverse” is delightfully magical. Tom Holland’s character abducts Dr. Strange's sling ring thus opening portals to the other two Spider-Man universes.

It’s quite exciting to see all three Spider-Mans on the screen at the same time. Watching villains from all three movies come together was an absolute brilliant idea in the world of Marvel. Fans couldn’t possibly have fathomed the theory of a multiverse.

Incredible special effects and precise facts had to be accounted for to accurately present the movie. Spider-Man: No Way Home received a nomination for Best Visual Effects. Old villains underwent awesome new upgrades to their costumes and power.

Arrays of spectacular visual graphics and cinematic music orchestrates the flick perfectly. It’s awesome to watch the characters being sucked in and out between universes. The film surely sets Marvels to sky rocketing records.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker undergoes immense emotional distress. Life and death choices are put in his hand as he decides the fate of the characters in the multiverse. Human struggles and emotional distress tug at the heart strings of fans as they relate to the hurt young Peter must go through.

4. Avengers Infinity War (2018)

Infinity War is the third of The Avengers series. Thanos is in desperate search of the Infinity Stones. The Avengers team up with The Guardians of the Galaxy to stop him from acquiring all six stones.

The allied forces of The Avengers and The Guardians proved successful in constructing a unique storyline. The characters are more stern and serious compared to their past films.

Thanos takes on a more relaxed and level headed presence. As much as you want to despise him, there is an almost kind nature about him. Of course, he proves that theory incorrect as he unapologetically murders anyone associated with the Stones.

We get to travel to epic new planets and universes as the film switches constantly from place to place. It can become a little confusing as there is a plethora of villains and heroes. Luckily Marvel is over qualified in its storytelling abilities and demonstrates the plot carefully.

The flick offers a darker mood in contrast to the other Avengers movies. Lots of death and turmoil present themselves at every corner of the film. Thanos utilizing the stones and erasing half of the universe's population was a shock.

Sly- tongued Tony Stark is not his usual witty, comical self. Our Galaxy Guardians must encounter tremendous emotional discomfort, stealing away their waggish demeanors. The film sends fans on a roller coaster of emotions.

Infinity War sets the tone for the end of the Avenger era. Marvel enthusiasts are left shattered as they await on a cliff to be delivered the conclusion to the chaos. Tears flooded the theaters when half the members disappeared into thin air, possibly being one of the best endings to a Marvel film.

3. Venom (2018)

Everyone loves a good ol’ fashioned super villain. Venom slithers his way onto the big screen in this awesome Sci-Fi/ Action motion picture. Eddie Brock has unwillingly become the host of an alien life form brought to earth for experiment.

One of Marvel's most clever films, Venom is not the textbook description of a villain. In fact, he and his host become quite the odd couple. Our slimy beast attaches himself onto Brock with plans of taking over the planet and feasting on the earthlings.

Banter between Eddie and Venom are entertaining and hilarious. Although you can not see Venom, his deep voice echoes inside Brock's head. Throughout the whole film, the two are constantly jabbing comical remarks and witty jokes.

Venom appearance is wicked to behold. We got a glance of him in the third Spider-Man, starring Toby Maguire. Now we see him full power and might in all its raw glory. Animation and visual designers did a superb job in creating the disgusting alien nemesis.

The scenes where Brock transforms into Venom are disturbingly wonderful. Tom Hardy delivers a great performance in portraying the evil Venom and helpless Eddie simultaneously.

As the film progresses, Venom forms a liking to his host creating an unlikely friendship between the two. The change of heart in the villain takes viewers by surprise. It quenches the thirst of Marvel fans by adding a refreshing new take on a so-called fiend.

Intensity of the movie is stabilized by a rude and offbeat sense of humor. The film creates a laid back feel while also depicting the underlying struggles of human beings.

Is Venom really a bad guy? Yes and no. His hunger for human flesh and destruction remain strong, but his intentions are no longer malicious. It’s an awesome twist the film takes. Along with highly fascinating characters, the story and visual design are riveting.

2. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

As they say, three is a charm! Tom Holland stars in this third Spider-Man film alongside the glamorous Zendaya. Young Parker begins his life after being crowned Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. With Tony Stark's assistance, Parker clumsily slings his way through life while encountering his first bad guy, The Vulture.

It was a bit exhausting to hear there was another Spider-Man movie coming into light. Tom Holland shut down almost all the negativity and won over the hearts of Marvel films.

The movie caters heavily to younger audiences with its addition of Zendaya as MJ and quirky teenage buddy, Ned. Holland is awkward yet captivating and charming. He received praise in regards to his outstanding performance and light tone.

Downy brings his narcissistic humor to the spotlight once again adding familiarity for old fans. The clash between Stark and Parker gives off a father and son vibe. Spider-Man continues to disobey pretty much all of Iron Man's commands, usually resulting in a mess.

Although it does have different elements from the original story, it still possesses the original story behind Peter Parker. What makes the movie so highly rated is the characters acting and action sequences. All actors deliver an excellent and realistic presentation.

Marvel adds in new features and secrets based strongly on its father films. It’s highly appealing to new and old fans. Like always, comical elements and spectacular explosive scenes are sprinkled everywhere throughout the flick.

1. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Truly it is the end of the end. Tension is at an all time high in the fourth and final Avengers film. The gang attempts to reverse the damage Thanos has caused in its previous film, Infinity War.

After obtaining the stones and disintegrating half of all life in the universe, remaining Avengers go on a wild goose chase to obtain the stones, reverse time, and restore the vanished life forms. It’s an absolute hectic ride Marvel takes us on.

The team must be careful in their time travels not to mess anything up as it can create alternate realities. The most serious and intricate of the Avengers series, humor is sucked dry from our team members.

Its astounding storyline is both compelling and complex. Scenes flip back and forth as the Avengers split up to find the stones faster. Fantastic worlds of ruins and fire set the stage for nasty fighting clips.

We follow our heroes as they win, lose, and then win again. Failure can not be an option thanks to their unbreakable bonds and determination. The movie grossed 2.799 billion dollars worldwide placing it on the top of charts for a consistent two years.

Fans are overwhelmed with intense despair and empathy for our broken heroes. Nonetheless, good will always vanquish bad. We already know full well the Avengers will successfully restore humanity, but sacrifices must be made.

The true colors of our hard- headed Iron Man come to light when he gives his own life for the sake of the world. Endgame is all about character development, friendship, and sacrifice which makes it so touching and popular.

Marvel does a splendid job at capturing the characters raw and natural emotions. It leaves superhero junkies at a loss for words as ties are cut and the whimsical Avenger/ Guardian of the Galaxy duo is put to rest, for now.

What's one thing Tony Stark loves more than himself? His Iron Man suits.

Tony Stark love Iron Man more than himself, it's no surprise. The guy builds like a million suits for himself. But one thing players of Marvel's Avengers and Tony Stark have in common is that they love building Iron Man. More specifically for players, Iron Man builds. So here are some pretty cool builds that will make Tony Stark himself jealous.

5. Endless Barrage Build

Iron Man has a lot of weapons in his suit, making him a walking arsenal. In Marvel’s Avengers, he is every bit as dangerous like his fellow Avengers. Until he runs out of Intrinsic. The Intrinsic Meter is every Iron Man main’s worst enemy, as running out of that prevents Iron Man from firing his repulsors, lasers, and missiles. Thankfully, the game does offer ways to help keep the Intrinsic meter going, and players in turn have created builds with to help solve the Intrinsic issue for Iron Man.

Bear in mind that this build is heavy on perks, and the percentage of how effective the perks work can vary. Gear can have whatever stats and rarity you want as long as you have the correct perks. Also, don’t worry, no exotics for this build, so you don’t have to worry about grinding for it. Just focus on the perks. In the Melee slot of the build, the perk required for this gear is Armory Boon, which grants the player an increased critical attack chance from all weapons. The Range slot of the build is the important part, as the perk Targeted Empowerment grants a percent chance of triggering an Intrinsic Burst should you hit an enemy with a Ranged Critical Attack. Intrinsic Burst is essentially your whole Intrinsic Meter getting a refill after a successful Ranged Critical Attack, so it’s a key perk for the build. On your Defensive slot, there are two perks that you can switch from one another if you want. One perk would be the Reactive Buff, which triggers a Damage Buff on the percent chance you take damage from enemy attacks. The other perk would be the same thing, except it would grant an Intrinsic Burst. It’s called Reactive Empowerment. Both options are really good, as the Damage Buff perk grants more damage, while the Intrinsic Burst basically gives you an unlimited Intrinsic Burst. It all depends on you if you want more damage or more Intrinsic. On your Heroic slot, you’re looking to get a perk called Lethal Empowerment, which grants an Intrinsic Burst on the percent chance you defeat an enemy. Now for your Minor Artifacts, you can go for three different sets and you can pick and choose your options. Two Blue ISO-8 for Precision, which is your range damage, two Yellow ISO-8 for Valor, which is your Heroic damage, and either a Blue or Yellow ISO-8 mixed with an ISO-8 of Cosmic Affinity. The Cosmic Affinity ISO is good for staying alive, as the Reactive Cosmic Surge perk grants a Cosmic Surge buff, which in turn restores health and Heroic energy each time you deal damage. Lastly, the Major Artifact should be the Norn Stone of Lethal Will, as it grants a Damage Buff once activated. We’ve covered the gear, or the perks to be more specific, and the Artifacts needed.

So now let’s focus on the skills, which are a lot easier to do compared to the gear. Your Support Heroic should have the Arc Supercharge specialization, so your Overcharge state can last longer by three seconds when activating Arc Overload, and Arc Jolt for reviving downed teammates. For your Assault Heroic, choose the Precision Refractor specialization as it increases the Unibeam duration by three seconds, and the Energy Condenser so each enemy defeated drops Heroic Orbs. The Ultimate Heroic requires the Magno-Missile Barrage that targets up to eight enemies and Energy Star to reduce Intrinsic energy cost by 25%, allowing you to use the Hulkbuster longer while spamming Missile Barrage like a maniac.

The Mastery tree focuses on dealing damage while also saving Intrinsic energy, but not all of the skills wills be used. With that said, these are the Mastery skills featured on the build video should you wish to go by the book. Stun Mastery for a 15% increase of Stun damage, Heroic Takedown Mastery for Heroic Orbs dropping with each takedown, Weapon Efficiency Mastery to reduce Intrinsic energy cost by 15% for all weapons and attacks, Arc Reactor Generator increases the regeneration speed of your Intrinsic by 10%, Overcharge Duration Boost increases the duration of the Overcharged state by two seconds, Overcharge Damage Boost increases damage for all attacks while in Overcharge state by 12.5%, Energy Shield Efficiency reduces activation cost by 15%, Empowering Barrier regenerates Intrinsic energy by 5% if behind the shield, and Air Superiority increases the damage of range attacks by 15% when flying through the air. Now you may notice that we skipped past the Range part of the Mastery tree. That’s because that part of the build is entirely up to you and what weapon you will be choosing. If you’re going for a repulsor heavy build, then you choose all repulsor options. Same goes for laser and missiles.

4. Iron Man Prime Build

In the comics, Iron Man has a suit called the Model-Prime Armor, which is Tony Stark’s greatest suit as it serves as an all-in-one toolkit. Battling the Hulk? The suit can change into a Hulkbuster no problem. Need to sneak around for a mission? Boom, stealth mode. Want to fight a samurai? The suit transforms into a samurai armor too, which is weird but I would totally do the same thing if I’m capable enough to build an Iron Man suit. Bottomline is, the Model-Prime Armor is considered one of Tony Stark’s most powerful armors, and while Marvel’s Avengers Iron Man doesn’t have a suit like that, players decided to do the next best thing and created a build that matches the power of the Model-Prime Armor.

Like with most Iron Man builds, the primary focus is range damage, so Precision is a key stat for the build, as well as Proficiency for more critical chances. For gear, it’ll be tough to get considering the build requires two exotic gears, one from the raid and one from normal grinding. Better hope your teammates are capable enough to beat the raid, because you’ll be doing this a lot of times depending on your luck to get the exact gear needed. The Melee slot of the build only requires good stats for Valor, Resilience and Precision. The perk on the other hand, doesn’t have to be complicated, as you just need the Armory Boon perk and the Electric Accelerators perk, which deals Shock damage when using Signature attacks. The Range slot is the difficult one, as it needs the Discordant Muon Ray, which is a raid gear. The perks on the gear are Shock Double Leak, which is a great perk to combine with Electric Accelerators, as any enemy affected with the Sonic status effect spreads Shock damage to nearby enemies. The second perk is Focused Scream, which makes all ranged attacks deal Sonic damage while aiming down or flying in the air. The third perk is Pinpoint Vibranium Payload, it triggers on a percent chance when attacking enemies with ranged critical attacks. The Defensive slot on Iron Man is more on stats and perk, so you can either have it as either an Epic gear or Legendary gear as long as you have good stats. The only perk you need on this gear is the Reactive Buff. The last slot, the Heroic gear, requires the Centurion’s Mark XV Quantum Reactor exotic. Stats for the gear need to boost Resolve, Valor, and Precision for the build. The perks however, are the real stars of the show. Breaker Buster grants a percent chance increase damage when using the Hulkbuster, Ultimate Heroic Charge increases the charging rate of your Ultimate Heroic by a percent chance, and the crème de la crème of the gear, Overcharge Support, which increases the Heroic charge rate of all your Heroics by percent chance when Overcharged. The Minor Artifacts needed for the build are the Blue ISO-8 for range damage and the ISO-8 of Cosmic Affinity for the Reactive Cosmic Surge. The Major Artifact all boils down to what you prefer. The Norn Stone of Lethal Will provides a damage buff or the Tactigon to increase any status damage you have.

So, with gear being pretty much done, we’ll focus on the skills you need to achieve the build. Starting with the Heroic skills, you’ll need the Arc Supercharge and Arc Jolt for your Support. Your Assault should have Precision Refractor and Energy Condenser. Lastly, your Ultimate should have Disruption Pulse, which sends out a pulse that stuns all enemies near you, and the Hyper Coils to keep the Hulkbuster active for an additional ten seconds.

For the Mastery tree, specifically the Combat section, you’ll need the Combo Finish Mastery, which grants an increased damage boost for Combo Finishers, Heroic Takedown Mastery, Ranged Combat Mastery, which increases all ranged damage by 15%. The Range section of the Mastery tree requires the Rocket Mastery, which increases all rocket damage by 12%, Rocket Specialization, which adds a target guidance system to your basic aimed rocket attacks, and Rocket Efficiency, which decreases the Intrinsic cost of the rocket attack by 10%. For the Intrinsic Ability section, the perks Arc Reactor Generator, Overcharge Boost Duration, and Overcharge Boost Damage are selected for the build. Lastly for the Utility section, Energy Shield Efficiency, Empowering Barrier, and Air Superiority are needed. Does the name sound familiar? It should, as it is the name of the missiles Tony Stark created in the MCU. The same missile that terrorists wanted so bad, they kidnapped Tony Stark, starting his rise to Iron Man, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the movie, the Jericho missile was only featured in one scene, but that one scene was enough to show the audience at how much of a technological genius Tony is in the MCU. A single missile can level an entire battlefield and all of its enemies. In Marvel’s Avengers, players can create a build that replicates the power of the Jericho missile. Dubbed Project Jericho, players can acquire that same level of power with this handy guide.

As most Iron Man range builds, the focus of stats will primarily be with Precision and Proficiency. If you want to hit your enemies hard, you’re going to need a lot of those two. But you should always balance it out with Resolve and Resilience. Nothings more embarrassing than having your health instantly be emptied without getting a single shot in. Best part about this build? No exotics, so this build can be easily replicated without them. However, you do need specific perks, which are all randomized on random gear with random percent chances to work and with random stats. Now that I said it, I think exotics are a lot easier to get. At least most of them have set perks. Starting with gear, specifically the Melee slot, you’ll once again need Armory Boon. Now, remember to get gear with high stats for Precision or Proficiency to maximize the potential of this build. Next up, the Range slot, we’re going to need a gear with the Targeted Buff perk, which grants the player a damage buff when hitting an enemy with a ranged critical attack. Next perk would be the Plasma Bomb, which gives the player’s weapons a Plasma status effect, more importantly your missiles. For your Defensive slot, we’ll need the Reactive Empowerment perk, as this will serve as a way for your Intrinsic meter to never be fully depleted. You’ll be using a lot of missiles with this build, so it’s best to have an Intrinsic Burst perk on your gear. An alternative perk for players who want to focus a little bit on defense, is Aerial Guard. This perk gives a percent chance of damage reduction while airborne. Lastly in the gear section, your Heroic slot should have the Lethal Empowerment perk. Let’s move on to the Artifacts you’ll be using, starting with the Major Artifact. The Tactigon is ideal for the build, as it grants a 13% increased damage for all status damage, which you’ll be doing a lot with the build you’re using. For Minor Artifacts, you’re going to want to secure a Blue ISO-8 for more Precision and an ISO-8 of Cosmic Affinity for the Reactive Cosmic Surge perk.

Now that the gear is done, we’ll be moving on to the skills section of the build. The build doesn’t need a lot of specific skills and specializations active, which is a big surprise. This build is very versatile to each player as long as these specializations are on, so you can make your own variation of the build. You’ll need Ranged Combat Mastery, Arc Reactor Generator, Overcharge Duration Boost, Overcharge Damage Boost, Energy Shield Efficiency, Tactical Barrier, which grants nearby players a 15% Critical Attack Chance increase, and Air Superiority. All other skills and specializations are whatever to your liking as long as these specializations are active.

2. Mark III Iron Man Build

The one thing all Iron Man players can agree on is that playing Iron Man can be a hassle. Iron Man is a range character whose biggest weakness is the Intrinsic meter, which he uses in order to use his weapons. Now, we already have a solution for that predicament, which is the Intrinsic Burst effect. But what about the Heroics? Unibeaming enemies for five seconds and then having to wait for a minute or two is just boring. Thankfully, the Mark III Iron Man build allows players to have both unlimited Intrinsic and Heroics.

The build will draw a heavy focus to Precision, as usual, and Valor. Both your range and Heroics are the stars of the build, so skills and specializations will also be specified to bring out the maximum advantage of the build. Your gear will focus heavily on perks and stats, no exotics. Better pray to RNGesus that you’ll get the best of both worlds. Starting with Melee slot, the perk you’re looking for is Cosmic Amplifiers, which grants all Light Signature attacks Cosmic damage. Roll it with high Valor and Precision and you’re already one step closer to completing the build. Next up is the Range slot, which requires the Targeted Buff perk and the Laser Scream perk, which envelops all laser attacks with the Sonic status effect, which is important for the build and will be later explained why. The Defensive slot should have a gear with high Valor, Precision, and Resolve. The ideal perk for this slot should be either the Reactive Buff or Reactive Empowerment. It’s up to you if you want more damage or to ensure you have unlimited Intrinsic. Last gear slot should have the same high stats as your Defensive gear, as well as the Lethal Jarvis Barrier, which will be your primary defense perk as the Jarvis Barrier protects you from majority of attacks. For your Major Artifact, you have the choice between the Norn Stone of Lethal Will or Tactigon. Minor Artifacts should be a Yellow ISO-8 for Valor stats and ISO-8 of Cosmic Affinity for the Reactive Cosmic Surge buff.

Now you may be wondering why you need the Laser Scream perk. The launch of War of Wakanda brought additions to the game. One of those additions is the Sonic status effect. The effect, when used against enemies, turns them into a Battery. The Battery effect is a godsend for Iron Man players, as the effect recharges both Heroic and Intrinsic energy when near the affected enemy. Using the Laser Scream perk, combined with all laser attacks, makes any enemy become a Battery for you and your teammates.

Moving on to the Heroic skills first, your Support Heroic should have the Arc Field, which generates a force field that allows you and your teammates to shoot from inside the field. Defensive Field deflects enemy projectiles back at them, giving them a taste of their own medicine. For your Assault, you’ll need Precision Refractor and Energy Condenser. The Ultimate Heroic should have the Magno-Missile Barrage and Energy Star.

In your Mastery tree, you’ll need Combo Finisher Mastery, Heroic Takedown Mastery, Critical Expertise, which increases Critical Attack damage by 15% for all range attacks, or you can use the Ranged Combat Mastery. It’s entirely up to you and how you want to play the build. For the Ranged section of the tree, you’ll want to select all of the laser options. Laser Mastery increases your stun damage by 15%, Laser Specialization reduces the Intrinsic cost of using the laser range attack by 10%, and Laser Efficiency, which decreases Intrinsic energy cost by 10%. The Intrinsic Ability section should have the Arc Reactor Capacity, which increases the amount of intrinsic Supercharge energy by 10%, Overcharge Duration Boost, and Overcharge Damage Boost. Lastly in the Utility section, Energy Shield Efficiency, Tactical Barrier, and Air Superiority need to be active.

1. Omega Level Iron Man Build

The term “Omega Level” refers to beings whose abilities are unable to be measured. There are lots of beings in the Marvel Universe that are Omega Level. Unfortunately, Iron Man is not classified as such. Tony Stark is simply a human with a high IQ that can develop weapons out of anything (see Avengers Assemble Episode 17, Season 1. Tony Stark literally creates a suit out of stone). Marvel’s Avengers however, has a difficult mission called Omega Level Threat: Family Reunion, in which players play through the Family Reunion mission in the hardest difficulty the game allows, besides the raid. The mission is extremely difficult if you don’t have the right build, as enemies can take more damage than usual, essentially making them damage sponges. With the Omega Level Iron Man build, players will be able to blast through the OLT, and even use the build for other missions.

Now bear in mind, the build focuses primarily on Precision, which you’ll need a lot of. You can put a little bit of focus in other stats like Valor, Proficiency, Resolve, or Resilience, but always make sure your Precision stat is high. The build also requires some exotics, so it might take a while to grind for those gear, especially with the right stats. For your first slot, the Melee gear, you’ll need gear with high Precision as well as other stats mentioned above, and either the Armory boon perk or the Armory Breaker perk. This perk grants an increased damage by a random percentage for all weapons. Your Range slot will have the Repulsors of the Storm exotic. The perks include the Adept Buff, but ideally the perk here should be Targeted Buff, as it is easier to hit enemies with ranged critical attacks, but the Adept Buff is just as good, since all you have to do is hit enemies in their weak points to get a Damage Buff. The second perk is Cosmic Munition, which gives your missile attacks the Cosmic status damage. The last perk is the key perk, which is the Targeted Tachyon Surge. The Tachyon Surge increases all status damage by 50% when active, but you need to hit an enemy with a Ranged Critical Attack with a percent chance to do so. For your Defensive slot, the primary focus is stats. So you’ll need high Valor, Precision, and Resolve. The Heroic slot will be the Hivemind Reactor exotic, which is a great piece for your Assault and Support Heroics. Heroic Assault increases the charge rate of your Assault, while the Heroic Assistance does the same for your Support. The third perk will be the Lethal Jarvis Barrier, primarily for defense. Your Major Artifact should be the Tactigon, but you can change it for the Norn Stone of Lethal Will if you prefer to have the regular damage boost. For your Minor Artifacts, two Blue ISO-8’s is required solely for the Precision stats.

With your gear done, all that’s left is to choose which skills and specializations you’ll be using. For the Support Heroics, you’ll need Arch Supercharge and Arc Jolt. You can swap out the Arch Supercharge for the Arc Field for more defense, but that’s up to your preferences. For your Assault, we’ll be going with the classic Precision Refractor and Energy Condenser combo. Lastly for your Ultimate, the Magno-Missile Barrage combined with Energy Star allows players to spam the Missile Barrage attack longer for more damage.

In the Mastery skill tree, specifically the Combat section, you’ll need the Combo Finisher Mastery, Heroic Takedown Mastery, and Ranged Combat Mastery. The first two specializations can be whatever you choose as long as you always have the Ranged Combat Mastery active. Your Ranged build should have a focus on all missile attacks, so you’ll need Rocket Mastery, Rocket Specialization, and Rocket Efficiency. In the Intrinsic Ability section, the Arc Reactor Capacity, Overcharge Duration Boost, and Overcharge Damage Boost needs to be active. Lastly in the Utility section, the Energy Pulse specialization needs to be selected, as it adds Shock damage whenever the Energy Pulse skill is used, Empowering Barrier, and Air Superiority.

In Marvel's Avengers, players can build their characters however they want. Thor is a god with limitless power, so players have created amazing builds that take advantage of Thor's power and abilites. Here are some of the best build.

5. Bring Me Thanos Build

Anyone familiar with the MCU would know the iconic “Bring me Thanos!” line, which featured the Stormbreaker wielding Thor decimating the battlefield after arriving on the Bifrost. This changed the tide of the battle in favor of the heroes, which sadly did not win them the war. But hey, it did bring us an iconic line that makes Thor feel like a god. In Marvel’s Avengers, Thor is on the same power level of MCU Thor. Both can channel thunder and lightning with or without Mjolnir and has pretty cool lightning emanating from their body. Unfortunately, Marvel’s Avenger’s Thor does not wield Stormbreaker. However, that doesn’t mean Thor isn’t strong, for this build allows players to feel like Thor in Infinity War when he arrives in Wakanda.

The Bring Me Thanos build requires three exotic gear pieces and one gear that has the Damage Buff perk. Bear in mind that stats and perk percentages are completely random and relies solely on luck, so if you have really bad luck, then you might be grinding for a while. For your Melee slot, the Hivemind Gauntlets contains the Cosmic Amplifier perk, deals Cosmic damage whenever you attack enemies with Light Signature attacks. Cosmic Inscription Perk makes all of Thor’s heavy attack deal Cosmic damage, and the Brazen Jarvis Barrier perk, which grants the player a Jarvis Barrier, the best defense status in game, by a percent chance when hitting enemies with a Melee Critical Attack. Your Range slot should have the Hivemind Grips which focuses on boosting Thor’s thunder and lightning with its perks, Electrified Casing, which deals Shock damage to enemies that are pinned with Mjolnir, Electric Wraps which grants Shock damage to Range Power attacks, and Lightning Potentiator, the best Thor perk ever, to increase Shock damage from any attack. For your Defensive slot, you can have any gear here as long as you have good stats and a damage buff perk. Ideally, you should try getting the Reactive Buff, which is a perk that grants a damage buff when taking damage by a percent chance. That perk is a godsend. Lastly, Heroic slot should have the Cincture of the Asgard’s Scion contains the Lethal Jarvis Barrier perk, which grants a Jarvis Barrier by a percent chance when defeating an enemy, the Ultimate Heroic Charge perk to boost your Ultimate Heroic charge rate by percent chance, and the almighty Odin’s Augur, another perk that should be used by all Thor mains as it increases the maximum capacity of your Overcharge meter by 10%. For the Major Artifact, the Tactigon artifact is a must, as it increases the damage of both the Cosmic and Shock damages from Thor. For the Minor Artifacts, players should try and acquire Yellow ISO-8 artifacts with high Valor stats. You have the option to have one or two, but I recommend using one high Valor artifact and a high Resilience artifact for defense or Resolve artifact for health, just so you avoid getting downed every two minutes in a game.

Thor’s skills are also an important part of the build, as his Support and Ultimate Heroics play a huge part. The Support Heroic requires the Ymir’s Wrath specialization, which grants nearby teammates a 25% damage boost. For the second specialization, Hel’s Anger is a must as it boosts the Critical Attack Damage by 25% and Critical Attack Chance by 10% for nearby teammates. As far as the Assault Heroic is concerned, you need to focus on dealing as much damage as possible with it. The build recommends the Son of the Elder Gods, which deals Cryo damage to enemies and Overcharge Blast, which increases the God Blast damage by 20% while in Overcharged. For the Ultimate Heroic specializations, you’ll want to take advantage of your high Valor with Muspelheim’s Torment, which sends out a wave of flame once Thor lands from the Bifrost, leaving an area of effect that causes Burn damage. But the Bifrost Heroic is also a great way to give yourself time to breathe should you ever find yourself with low health. Asgard’s Light gives the player 50% of Willpower back to the player once the player lands from the Bifrost.

Now that we’re done with the main skills you’ll be using, we’ll move on to the passive ones in the Mastery skill tree starting with melee combat. It’s important to remember that Thor will be using his Heroics a lot, so we will need to activate the Heroic Charge melee specialization, which will charge the Heroic abilities by 1.5% if using light attacks, or 2% if using heavy attacks. The Unarmed Damage specialization is essential as Thor will be throwing Mjolnir around, leaving him unarmed. Best to up the damage of his unarmed combat. Heroic Takedown Mastery is a must for any player that likes to keep their Heroic meters nice and full, since performing takedowns with this specialization on will result in enemies dropping Heroic Orbs once defeated. For the Ranged specializations, Thor’s Impact Explosion specialization makes Mjolnir burst with electricity once Thor throws it on a surface, damaging enemies within its radius. When calling back the hammer, Mjolnir will be able to hit enemies along the way back to its owner, so having Critical Return on is substantial as Critical Attacks can happen more likely by 35% when recalling Mjolnir. Charged Flight is the only third range specialization that you should use as the other two, Speed Burst and Flying Shots, aren’t really helpful in any situation. In the Intrinsic tree, Ionic Bolts are a must have, as defeating enemies while using the Odinforce strikes all nearby enemies to Thor. You will need to have your Intrinsic meter up all the time, so having Maximum Force is a good way to keep your Odinforce lasting longer. The third Intrinsic specialization, Honed Force, is the perfect partner for Maximum Force, as Honed Force reduces the cost of the Odinforce intrinsic by 10%. Lastly will be the Intrinsic Overcharge tree, which is exclusive to Thor’s character. The specializations needed for this tree are Lightning Field, which strikes enemies with thunder when Overcharged. Charged Heroic, which increases Heroic regeneration when Overcharged by 10%. Lastly, Damage Force, which increases all damage by 15% when Overcharged.

4. Stormbreaker Build

In Marvel’s Avengers, Thor’s suit in Endgame is purchasable in the games marketplace. Although the outfit does not have Stormbreaker, and instead features the MCU’s version of Mjolnir, it did not stop players from creating a build that makes Thor feel similar to his MCU version.

Let’s talk gear, which might take a little bit of grinding to obtain. Now it’s not because you need to have 4 exotic gear pieces to achieve this build. Actually, you only need just one exotic gear. The rest can either legendary or epic, as long as it has the right stats and perks. For your Melee slot, try to obtain gear pieces with high Valor, high Precision, and the Odinforce Flare perk, as the perk increases Critical Attack damage from Odinforce Attacks. Mind you that non-exotic gears’ perks tend to be randomized, so the percentage of how effective the gear is can vary. Range slot is as same as the melee gear, needs high Valor and high Precision with a specific perk. This time, that perk is Targeted Buff, which is a damage buff that only triggers when hitting enemies with critical range attacks. You can replace your range gear with something more effective like the Grips of the Storm exotic as long as you have the Targeted Buff perk. For the defensive gear, a focus of either high Resolve or Resistance is needed for defensive purposes, and a high Valor stat as well. If not, you can go for high Precision. Most importantly, you will need a Jarvis Barrier perk, specifically the Reactive Jarvis Barrier, as the perk activates when taking damage. The Heroic gear is the only exotic needed for the build, which is the Girdle of the Thunderer. This gear has amazing perks, such as Asgard’s Dominion, which grants Thor increased damage by 20% when Overcharged, the Lightning Potentiator perk, and Asgard’s Fury, which increases the Overcharge energy gained when attacking enemies by 15%. Your Major Artifact can either be the Tactigon or the Sacred Norn Stone of Lethal Will, which grants a damage buff. I personally prefer the Norn Stone for the damage buff. For Minor Artifacts, as usual you should get a Yellow ISO-8 with high Valor. The second Minor Artifact can be whatever you want, whether it’s for health, defense, or more Valor. But preferably another Yellow ISO-8. There’s no such thing as too much Valor.

Now most Thor builds do use the same skills when building their Thor, so you will see some familiar skills from the last build. I won’t be going in depth as to what skills do, except for the ones that haven’t been mentioned yet. Now to start, we’ll focus on the skills first. For Thor’s Support Heroic, you will need Ymir’s Wrath and Hel’s Anger. For the Assault Heroic specializations, Son of the Elder Gods and Rolling Thunder is crucial for the build. Now the Rolling Thunder specialization focuses on getting Assault Heroic charged up as much as possible, as it gives you a 5% refund of Heroic energy with each enemy defeated by the God Blast. The Ultimate Heroic specialization will once again be using Mulspelheim’s Torment, but partnered with Odin’s Blessing of the Realm, which automatically puts you in Overcharged state upon exiting the Bifrost.

For the Mastery skill tree, you’ll need Ranged Damage, Heroic Takedown Mastery, Critical Return, Charged Flight, Maximum Force, Lightning Field, Charged Heroic, and Damage Force. Now these are all the specializations you should be familiar of from the Bring Me Thanos build. Now, let’s move on the ones that are new for the Stormbreaker build. Critical Juggler is a specialization that increases Critical Attack damage when enemies are being juggled mid-air. This is insanely helpful, as enemies tend to get blown up into the air when Thor performs his attacks, followed by activating his Odinforce ability which strikes all enemies in the air. Critical Throw is pretty straightforward, as it increases the Critical Attack Damage by 20% after throwing Mjolnir just as the hammer flashes. To this, you just need to aim and hold the throw button and wait till the hammer flashes. Force of Will is an intrinsic ability that heals Thor by 1.2% when dealing damage with Odinforce active, helping you not die while fighting enemies. Surging Force helps keep your Odinforce alive, as the specialization increases the regeneration speed of your Intrinsic meter by 12%.

3. Omega Level Thor Build

In the Marvel universe, the term “Omega Level” is usually associated with beings with unimaginable power. Though the term is mostly used for Mutants, it can also be used for other characters outside of Mutants as well. Thor is an Omega Level being. Some might even say that he is beyond that level. But in Marvel’s Avengers, we can help build Thor to be an Omega Level Threat to his enemies.

Now just like every Thor build, Valor needs to be built up high. Thor’s Valor is higher than the other heroes, so it’s only natural to build that as high as possible for higher DPS. For his gear, we won’t need any exotic pieces for this. It all comes down to perks and stats, so you better hope that your luck won’t run out when collecting gear. His Melee slot should have high Might and Valor, as well as the Lightweight Buff, a damage buff perk that activates when performing Light Combo Finishers by a percent chance, and the Odinforce Breaker perk, a perk that increases the damage while Odinforce is active. Thor’s Range slot should once again have a high Valor stat, but other stats like Resilience, Resolve, or Precision are always a welcome addition. The perks needed are Targeted Buff and Expert Protection. The Expert Protection perk is an excellent defense perk for Thor, as it grants a defense buff every time Thor defeats an enemy with a critical attack. For your Defensive slot, stats are important. If you can find a defensive gear with high Valor, Resilience, and Resolve, then you’re good to go. Of course, if you can find damage buffs and defensive buffs for your defensive gear, they are always welcome as the build does focus on high defense and high DPS. For the Heroic slot, stats should have high Valor, Intensity, and Precision. For the perks, you’ll need Lightning Potentiator, Ultimate Heroic Charge, and Lethal Tachyon Surge, which activates the Tachyon Surge effect after defeating enemies. For your Major Artifact, the Tactigon is chosen for this build as it will focus on increasing the status damage of your attacks. For Minor Artifacts, two Yellow ISO-8’s to boost Thor’s Valor levels to godly heights.

We’ll be moving on Thor’s Heroic skills, which some are present in previous builds. Thor’s Support Heroic will be using Ygdrasill's Blessing is a specialization that helps any nearby teammate recover 10% of their health when activated, and Hel’s Anger. For the Assault Heroic, Son of the Elder Gods and Rolling Thunder are required for this build, similar to the Stormbreaker build. The Ultimate Heroic, Bifrost, reuses the same skills as the Stormbreaker build, which is the Muspelheim’s Torment and Odin’s Blessing of the Realm. The Mastery skill will be a mix of both the Bring Me Thanos and Stormbreaker build except for two changes. Combo Damage, which is one of the two changes for this build, lets Thor deal out increased damage with Combo Finishers by 25%, and Heroic Takedown Mastery. High Velocity, which is a skill I personally use all the time, allows Thor to quickly throw and call the hammer back faster by 15%. Everything else will be listed down below on what specialization should be used.

2. Ultimate Thor Build

The Ultimate Thor build was specifically made for the Discordant Sound raid in mind. The Ultimate Thor build focuses on getting the best of Thor’s range and heroic abilities, which is a lot, considering that Thor’s Valor is already way higher than everyone else’s.

Thor’s gear in this build will be perk and stat based, but there is an exotic required for this build. Majority of this build will be heavy heroic and range based, so all gear needs to have high Valor and Precision stats. For Thor’s Melee slot, you’ll need the Heavyweight Buff, which is a damage buff that activates once you do a Heavy Combo Finisher, and the Odinforce Flare perk. The Range slot requires a high Precision stat, but also the Targeted Buff perk and the Targeted Tachyon Surge perk. The Targeted Tachyon Surge perk grants Thor the Tachyon Surge status effect once you hit an enemy with a Range Critical Attack. For Thor’s Defensive slot, a defense buff will be essential to keep you alive. The perfect perk for that would be the Reactive Protection perk, which gives Thor a Defense Buff when he gets hit, which is pretty useful since you get hit 80% of the game. Now the exotic gear piece that is needed for this build is the Cincture of the Asgard’s Scion gear, which has the Lethal Jarvis Barrier perk, Ultimate Heroic Charge, and Odin’s Augur. Thor’s Major Artifact that he’ll be using will be the Tactigon, and then his Minor Artifacts will be two Yellow ISO-8’s for more Valor. Bear in mind that the Discordant Sound raid will be a lot easier if you have Vibranium or Sonic based gear. If you don’t have Vibranium or Sonic gear that has the stats or perks listed above, that’s fine.

Now that we’re done with the gear that you’ll be needing, we’ll move on to the skills. As usual with most Thor builds, you’ll need Ymir’s Wrath, Hel’s Anger, Son of the Elder Gods, Rolling Thunder, Muspelheim's Torment, and Odin's Blessing of The Realm. For Mastery skills, you’ll need Range Damage, Critical Juggler, Heroic Takedown Mastery, Critical Throw, High Velocity, Speed Burst, which lets Thor fly faster at the cost of intrinsic, but it’s worth it as flying characters are essential in the raid. The other skills you need will be Force of Will, Maximum Force, Honed Force, Power Hazard, which generates small electrical hazards in the area where you perform a Power Attack, which helps against big groups of enemies, Charged Heroic, and Damage Force.

1. Ride the Lightning Build

The Ride the Lightning build, probably my favorite name for a Thor build, is a focus of both Precision and, you guessed it, Valor. Named after the hit Metallica song, this build will be used to keep your Intrinsic meter as full as possible in order to have lightning strike your enemies.

Now the build is pretty straightforward, get gear that focuses on dealing as much damage as possible with both high Valor and Precision stats, since those are the main focus. Each gear will have specific perks to it that makes the build work. The only exotic gear you’ll be needing for this build is just one, so don’t worry about grinding too hard for exotics. Starting with the Range slot, you’ll need the Targeted Buff perk and the Expert Empowerment perk. Now, the Expert Empowerment perk is essential since you’ll be using your Intrinsic a lot. The perk basically gives you an Intrinsic Buff when defeating an enemy, refueling your Intrinsic meter to keep your Odinforce up longer. For your Melee slot, the only thing important for this gear is the high Valor and Precision stats, and the Odinforce Flare perk. The Defensive slot should focus on getting a perk that grants a damage buff, so you should try to get a gear with the Reactive Buff perk. For the Heroic slot, the Girdle of the Thunderer exotic is a perfect fit for the build, as it’s perks amplify Thor’s damage. Your Major Artifact this time will be the Norn Stone of Lethal Will, and your Minor Artifacts will have a Yellow ISO-8 and an ISO-8 of Cosmic Afiinity. Now, the ISO-8 of Cosmic Affinity is great for any character in general, as the Reactive Cosmic Surge perk grants the player a Willpower burst and Heroic burst when taking damage.

The build requires only a select few skills, so any Heroic and Mastery skills you need can be of your choosing. The skills you need are all under Mastery, which are the Range Damage, Unarmed Damage, Critical Throw, Ionic Bolts, Maximum Force, Honed Force, Lightning Field, Charged Resistance, and Charging Force. Now for those unfamiliar with the Charged Resistance, this lets players increase damage resistance by 50% when Overcharged, making it a great defense specialization.

The Suppression status effect hinders players from sprinting, jumping, vault over objects. While it is annoying, the Red Room Uniform is the perfect counter for Black Widow players. The Extended Evade perk allows Black Widow to escape attacks farther, allowing you to escape some nasty attacks and regroup with your teammates.

The Wrecking Ball Rampage perk extends the duration of the Wrecking Ball status effect, which is a damage boosting status effect that is activated once players activate the Wrecking Ball Heroic. The Spinneret Destruction perk doubles the damage of his Web-Shooter attacks by increasing any status effect, critical chance and the normal damage.

When using gear for Thor, you’ll want to focus on Heroic attacks. The Girdle of the Thunderer gear increases Thor’s Heroic capabilities with these awesome perks. Asgard’s Dominion increases the overall damage Thor can deal when the Overcharged status effect is active, which is already big because the Overcharge status effect is supposed to double your normal damage. The Lightning Potentiator perk is the perfect perk for any Thor main, as it increases the shock damage. And what does Thor attack people with besides his hammer? You guessed it, lightning, which deals shock damage to anyone hit by it. Asgard’s Fury helps players achieve the Overcharge status effect easily as any attack you deal to enemies increases the energy gained by 15%, so combining this with Thor’s Hammer Spin attack, you’ll get juiced up in no time.

7. Operative’s Kit

Players naturally gravitate to any gear with perks that increases the Split Shot damage or effectiveness. The Operative’s Armor for Hawkeye not only does that, but it also reduces damage. Locked On Resistance allows the Locked On status effect for Hawkeye to reduce any incoming damage by 10%. The Auto Shield, similar to the Jarvis Barrier, negates enemy attacks by activating once taking damage to help you avoid getting downed. Finally, the Split Multiplier improves Hawkeye’s Split Shot skill, as well as Splintering Fire, by adding two additional arrows, so you’re essentially raining down arrows without having to aim.

Cap mains should get the Helm of the Super Soldier gear, which increases the effectiveness of the Rally Cry Heroic with its perks. Rally Cry Breaker increases the damage of Rally Cry by 15%. Take note that this is from the attack itself when you activate Rally Cry. Attacking enemies affected by Rally Cry does not grant the 15% increase damage. Heroic Assistance lets the Support Heroic charge faster by 18%, which you need in order to activate Rally Cry a lot. Eagle’s Cry makes the Heroic last for an additional three seconds.

The Proficient Spirit perk doubles that damage by granting a 35% increase in Critical Attack chance. In order to keep the train going, the Heroic Assistance perk will help Ms. Marvel mains charge up the Heroic by increasing the charge rate by 18%, allowing you to continue spamming the Heroic for more health and damage.

The Targeted Tachyon Surge lets players activate Tachyon Surge, which increases all status damage by 50%, but only with a percent chance if you hit an enemy with a Range Critical Attack.

Surge Enhancer grants a 20% increased damage when Quantum Surge is active, which is already a status effect that doubles Kate’s damage. The Decoy Effector essentially makes Kate’s Decoy Support Heroic much more effect, as it increases the duration by 10% and more damage. Kate’s Quantum Precision perk provides a 20% increase in Ranged Damage during Quantum Override. Combine The Surge Enhancer and Quantum Precision, Kate Bishop’s damage can melt enemies easily.

Doctor Stephen Strange was once the most well-accomplished surgeon of his era in the “normal” human realm. After an accident ruined his hands and his career, he went in search of anything to gain back his former glory.

What he found was Kamar-Taj (literally meaning “Moon Crown” in Arabic), located somewhere in the Himalayan Mountains. Along his journey to gain back the use of his hands, he instead became one of the most powerful magicians in the world, and indeed one of the more powerful mortal beings in the universe. Read on to find out what makes him so super.

10. Martial Arts

This may not be the first thing someone thinks about when they hear the word “superpower,” but that doesn’t make it any less spectacular. With the help of his sparring partner, Wong, Dr. Strange can keep up his strength and reflexes. His fighting prowess also makes him powerful even if his real “powers” should ever fail him. In the Strange Tales comic from 1951, issue #140, the good Doctor defeats the evil Dormammu purely by use of martial arts.

To give you a basis for comparison on exactly how well endowed Doctor Strange’s martial artistry really is, he is fast enough to duck the super-fast Mantis, something not even Thor (despite his literal centuries of training and inherently superior strength and speed) can manage.

9. Energy Blasts

Most of Doctor Stephen Strange’s powers are granted to him (mainly) by mystic beings called the Vishanti. This godly trio lets him call forth “bolts” of energy, such as the Bolts of Bedevilment, or the Flames of Faltine.

In one comic, Doctor Strange wanders listlessly, having lost his infamous cloak of levitation, as well as the New York-based sanctum which he calls home. He is unshaved, hopeless, and powerless to destroy one of Mordo’s creations that is ravaging the city.

Looking around, he realizes that magic is everywhere, as long as you look hard enough, and he summons the Flames of Faltine to destroy the beast Mordo has employed. Although incredibly powerful, the flames do little damage to the beast. What they do end up doing is reminding Doctor Strange that all is not lost, which leads the man to summon his strength and fight again.

8. Telepathy

Even without his mystical devices, Doctor Strange is a master at reading minds. He is rarely without his mystical devices, however, and the Eye of Agamotto specifically can amplify his telepathic abilities beyond most things in the universe.

Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, and one of the most fearsome baddies in the Marvel Multiverse was taken down by the telepathic abilities that Doctor Strange possesses. The Doctor mimics a tactic used by satan-inspired Ghost Rider and forces Galactus to relive every death he has ever caused. This onslaught of terror gives the Fantastic Four time to deliver a swift kick, taking down the colossus.

7. Teleportation

Usually accompanied by his Cloak of Levitation, Doctor Strange does not have to exert too much effort to be able to fly. However, he can fly without the cloak if needed. While it is one of the first tricks any magician learns, the ability to move things with his mind with ease definitely sets him apart.

Even more amazing, however, is the fact that he can quite literally appear from thin air. He is first able to teleport using his mystical devices (or infinity stones) to help him in the Strange Tales comics from the 50s and 60s.

Even the movies show him using a device to travel, called the Sling Ring.

Over time, however, his practice pays off in a big way. As long as his endpoint is in the same dimension as the start, he is often able to teleport with relative ease. In fact, after the Civil War story arc in the comics, he is the metaphorical cabby for the New Avengers. They don’t have access to a cool quinjet like the traditional Avengers, so Doctor Strange uses his teleport abilities to take them all wherever they need to go.

6. Demon Possession

I’ve mentioned before that most of Doctor Strange’s powers come from divine beings, called the Vishanti. These three beings, Agamotto, Hoggoth, and Oshtur, are not the only ones he gets his magic from, they just happen to be the most prevalent.

What this means, in laymen’s terms, is that he is a conduit for their magic, much like a wand is for a human witch or wizard. The difference is that a wand can’t make any decisions on what magic is channeled through it, and Doctor Strange is usually the one in charge of what magic comes out of him.

The keyword there is “usually.” Often he needs more help than he can channel himself, and so he will ask the powers-that-be to inhabit his body. This increases the power he can channel exponentially.

Because of his intense training, and attention to detail, he has even been known to inhabit their bodies instead. Or he can possess the body of someone near to him. In the comic, he literally borrows someone else’s body to perform surgery on his own body.

Transmutation, transfiguration, or even alchemy are all essentially the same thing for our purposes: they are all names of the magical ability to turn one thing into something else entirely. A mere party trick for a magician of Doctor Strange’s ability, he uses this trick to change thin air into gold to pay his bills.

As the Ancient one states here, “Matter is energy; sorcery is simply the art of wielding that energy.” While this is a very simple test of transmutation, changing the stone from heavy to lightweight is the first step to changing the stone into a swimming pool. While Doctor Strange isn’t known for using this specific ability too often (except maybe turning thin air into gold to pay the bills on occasion) and it is unknown just how cosmically he can wield this power, it is assuredly a more useful power than one might think at first glance.

4. Astral Projection

Astral projection is the ability to have an out-of-body experience on purpose. Letting his soul roam free from his body in the “astral realm” lets him live for up to 24 hours without the need for food, sleep, or even oxygen.

This power does have its downsides. For instance, if his body is moved without him knowing it, he is completely unaware. This can make that last hour before the 24-hour limit frantic as he attempts to find himself. He also cannot manipulate the physical realm. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this rule is bent slightly, as he can move things with intense concentration or explosive emotion as seen when he and Kaecilius’s lackey Lucian have a “spirited” battle (see what I did there?).

The reason I have this ranked so highly as a power, despite its obvious weaknesses, is how it can be used. Afterall, knowledge is the most powerful weapon anyone has. It would be easy for Doctor Strange, uninhibited by gravity and able to travel in space and time on a whim, to gather intel to truly tip the scales in his direction.

3. Time Manipulation

Time travel is something I’m willing to bet every one of us wished we could perform. Whether it is because we want to change the past or see the future, or just slow down the aging process, every one of us has dreamed of it at one time or another.

Doctor Strange, because he’s just that awesome, can actually do this. With the help of the Eye of Agamotto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is actually an Infinity Stone, he is able to create a loop in time more than once. Using the stone/ artifact, he outwits the demon Dormammu, taking beating after blow after death after every painful end to his life that anyone could imagine. Because of the time loop he never actually perishes, and eventually, his patience proves to outlast the demon’s so that he can bargain for the safety of Earth.

He also uses his ability to un-destroy most of New York. I’m sure the city planning committee would be incredibly grateful if they were actually aware.

2. Dreamer

With the use of his aforementioned telepathic abilities and his ability to astrally project his soul into another realm, Doctor Strange can actually enter someone’s dreams. This brings on some mind-shattering thoughts about dreams being their own realities, but let’s move away from the nightmares. Let’s instead talk about… Nightmare.

We first meet Doctor Stephen Strange in the Strange Tales comics, issue #110 from 1963. In that story, one of his first tricks is to enter someone’s dream to battle Nightmare. The evil demon-entity almost succeeded in trapping and destroying Doctor Strange before we could really grow to love him. Instead, with the help of the Ancient One, he escapes back into the physical realm.

Later, in issue #116, Nightmare begins to trap people in the dream world. This leaves their bodies defenseless, similar to being in a coma. As I said before, Nightmare is one evil bastard, and so he creates booby traps in the dream world, both for Doctor Strange as well as the innocents that he has captured. Eventually the Doctor is able to traverse around the traps, and rescue the people from their eternal sleep. Doctor Strange is known as one of very few people to ever have the power to stop Nightmare, although as of yet he is never destroyed.

Nightmare is one truly evil bastard. It takes a lot of effort to finally put a stop to the demon, which shows exactly how powerful the ability to dreamwalk truly is. If the good Doctor decided to go to the dark side… well, I’ll let you sleep on the thought.

1. Uber-HyperAwareness

Knowledge is the best weapon in any fight. I have always and will always believe that. It’s what makes the Astral realm such a cool place to hide. Doctor Strange takes that quote a few steps further. Using all of his talents together, he actually has the really cool ability to see… well, everything. Just shy of godlike omnipotence, he can tap into way more than the regular five senses us regular-folk are used to using.

Although this is more of an underlying power than one that is used during specific times, combining these senses and the knowledge of so many under-realms running alongside ours, as well as with the help of the Eye of Agamotto/Time stone, he can keep us safe from special anomalies, from astral demons, or from invaders from every walk of life. Or death.

Top 10 Captain America Powers Explained

Ah, Captain America. The First Avenger. The one who really started this whole mess of better-than-the-best superheroes fighting off the worst-of-the-worst supervillains. There is a little bit of controversy surrounding Steve Rogers and his “superpowers,” namely whether they are superpowers at all.

If you cut into him, he is fully human. His skin is just as soft as yours or mine, his blood is just as red, and even his DNA is plainly… human. Other heroes that started out as humans, such as Bruce Banner and the Hulk, if you were to look at their DNA, it is completely different to the rest of ours.

Despite the debate, today we are going to treat Cap as if he is indeed a superhero. To do that, we are going to look at his powers, such as they are. Before we do, let's rehash how he became so super.

Way back in 1941, he was just a regular guy. In fact, probably *too* regular. He was too scrawny to join the army, but he had the heart of a hero. German-American scientists saw his bravado and decided he was the perfect specimen to inject with the Super Soldier Serum. Thus began his journey.

10. Replenishing Serum

The Super Soldier Serum not only brought out the best parts of humanity within Steve Rogers, but it created a bit of a fail-safe. Normally any drug or serum that enters the human body is fairly quickly expelled from the body.

The Serum, on the other hand, continually replenishes itself within his body. There is no specific time this comes in handy. It’s an underlying power that courses through everything he ever does, making Captain America able to continue being the super soldier indefinitely.

9. The Armor

The Captain America uniform has come a long way from his “stage uniform.” Back when he was more of a mascot than a fighter, and his uniform was a brightly colored flag meant to empower the rest of the soldiers. More recently, Tony Stark is in charge of the avenger’s uniforms. The newer versions are full-on body armor, able to withstand a blast from a Chitauri weapon in the first Avengers movie without so much as a dent.

As Tony’s engineering know-how increases and Steve’s patriotism changes, the suit only gets stronger and slightly more subdued in color as time wears on.

8. The Shield

When he started being allowed on the front lines, Tony’s dad, Howard Stark, managed to collect some precious vibranium, a rare mineral that isn’t technically from earth. He fashioned this metal into a circular shield, which Cap has continued to use for the rest of his avenging career.

This is for a good reason: the shield is almost indestructible, perfectly aerodynamic for his throwing needs, and the red, white, and blue theme makes it a perfectly fashionable accessory.

Through a marvelous accident, Captain America and Thor discover that the shield and Thor’s Hammer Mjolnir, when struck together, make a powerful shockwave that can disable most humans. Later in Sokovia (Age of Ultron), they use this phenomenon to their advantage when the team is trying to infiltrate the Russian base.

7. Ageless

We all know Captain America is a “man out of time,” since his stint as an ice cube that brought him from World War II into the modern era. What is slightly less well known is that the Serum gave him an extra long life without the need for cold weather.

While he isn’t immortal, and he does age, he does so at such a slow rate that he could watch some be born, grow up, and die of old age. All that time could pass, and he might look five years older than he did at the start of his friend’s life.

For most humans, the average age that our cells start to not replace themselves with perfectly healthy cells is around 25 years old. What this basically means is that until 25 years, we are growing, and after 25 years, we start dying. Steve Roger’s cells continue to be healthy, without the deterioration the rest of us face.

Similar to the Serum-replenishment, this power isn’t used at any one specific time, it is an underrated and unseen power. It is, however, how he was able to survive the 70 years as a popsicle without the special science of cryogenics. Don’t try that at home, kids.

6. Super Metabolism

Using a similar mechanism to his anti-aging powers, Captain America’s metabolism is super fast. This helps him not only stay fit with little work (not that he ever gets lazy) but also helps with his body’s healing.

In the comic, the Ultimates, Volume 1 issue #6, he can heal torn muscles and broken bones in just a few days. Based on the above image leaked from the upcoming Infinity Wars movie, this healing power will come in handy soon as well.

Along with his ability to heal wounds, he is also impervious to any known illness or poison, from HIV to anthrax. On the other hand, his metabolism makes it impossible for him to get drunk. I guess you can’t win them all, eh?

5. Tireless

Without getting to bogged down in the science, humans get physically tired because of a build-up of certain chemicals in our bodies. (We get mentally tired from all of the cat videos we watch back to back to back, but that’s a little different.)

The Serum grants Cap the ability to continue for much longer, up to at least a few hours, before the toxins even begin to build up. Because of this, he can win a fight against a foe with similar strength and fighting capability simply by wearing his opponent out.

Carol Danvers, otherwise knows as Captain Marvel, has even quipped that “Cap only needs an hour or two’s sleep every week.”

4. Enhanced Speed, Strength, and Agility

Now we get to the bread and butter of the Super Soldier. He can bench somewhere between 2 and 5 tons, more if he really concentrates. His strength has come in handy more than once, such as when he stops a ginormous pine tree from falling and crushing a bunch of soldiers as pictured above.

Captain America has also been known to run faster than a horse, possibly more than 80 miles per hour. His body is uber-flexible and combined with his speed and strength he would put the Cirque du Soleil out of business if he decided to turn to performing arts instead of martial arts.

3. Martial Arts

Speaking of martial arts… Cap can definitely put his enhanced strength and agility to good use. When paired with the fact that he only needs to sleep a few hours a week (yes, week), he has more than enough time to master the art of fighting.

Not only that, but he is considered one of the best tactical geniuses in the Marvelverse. This all adds up to him being one of the most talented martial artists (and I do mean it when I say he is an artist at his craft) of his time. He is able to combine army training, boxing, jiujitsu, karate, and just about any other fighting style he can think of into a seamless blend of movement. Which, of course, comes in handy pretty much everywhere. I wonder if he can waltz.

2. That Beautiful Brain

Now it’s time to talk about the least-remembered superpower that Captain America possesses. As we have discussed already, the Super Soldier Serum enhances every good trait that humans have to make the best human being possible.

Yes, that means he’s super strong, super fast, super buff, super handsome. Still, it does us no good to focus on those things and overlook the other thing it enhances – his mind. I mentioned previously that he is a tactical mastermind, but there is a reason for that. The Serum also enhanced his decision-making abilities, so that he can make life-saving calculations before we even have time to realize he made a decision.

Even more impressive, he has an eidetic (or photographic) memory, and his short and long-term memory is almost perfect. As such, he is fluent in many languages, has enhanced reasoning abilities, and is basically a super spy as well as a super soldier.

So while we in the audience laugh right along with Tony when Captain America doesn’t recognize a computer game, we would do well to remember that his brain still works faster than a computer.

1. That Wonderful Willpower

The one thing, through all of his years since he first met the scientist that administered the Super Soldier Serum, that he has always had is his strength of character. His good looks, his strength, his agility, even his intelligence… none of that comes close to the power of his heart.

This true superpower is what got him his gig, from burly mascot to leader of the Avengers, and it is what continues to make us love him, and the Marvelverse trust him. Even Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor, whose magic nature is very judgmental, sees Steve Rogers as worthy of affection, if a hammer’s idea of “affection” is allowing him the ability to wield it and therefore the ability to pound skulls.

Top 10 Thor Superpowers Explained in Detail

Simply put, Thor is a god. He is not mortal. He comes prepackaged with some awesome powers. What we’re going to do today is look into just a fraction of those powers. Here come the top 10 superpowers wielded by Marvel’s Thor Odinson.

10. Strongman

The strongest non-enhanced human can lift, at most, 700 pounds or so in the Marvelverse. Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, can bench press somewhere closer to 1,200 pounds. Carol Danvers, or Captain Marvel, has a limit around 70 tons (with a ton equaling 2,000 pounds).

Thor, on the other hand, is not human. It’s sometimes difficult to remember when staring at his near-perfect form and enviously long blonde hair that he is much more than any of us could hope to be.

How much more? Well, Thor’s muscles can shoulder a potentially incalculable amount of weight, but at *least* 100 tons. That means no one actually knows exactly how strong he is; it’s doubtful even he knows. He is definitely stronger than the Hulk, with creator Stan Lee even saying once “Who could we make that’s even bigger and stronger than the Hulk? Then it occurred to me: Don’t make him a human… Make him a god.”

He showcases his pure strength in the Journey into Mystery comic, #112, when he meets the mighty Hulk for the first time. It is also important to note his stamina because as an Asgardian, his metabolism is vastly superior to ours as well. What that means is that he is not only stronger than any of us, but he can outlast even the best of us while using all of that godly strength.

9. How Long?

Asgardians are not fully immortal, meaning they can actually die. No one knows exactly how long they live, but if we listen to Thor’s brother Loki (which is a flawed idea at best, as he is the god of tricksters), they live somewhere around 5000 years. Odin is thought to age at a speed of roughly ten human years in 1,000 years, heightening that number to closer to 10,000 years.

That is the Asgardian’s nature, anyway. There are ways to live even longer for one of the Norse gods: The Golden Apples watched over by Idunn or Freya, are said to slow the process of aging even more. Thor is also able to ward off most disease, making him definitely harder to kill.

8. Speeding Through the Air

Mjolnir, Thor’s battle hammer, is arguably the coolest artifact in the Marvelverse. Simply put, it is where many of Thor’s awesomeness comes from. Such as his ability to fly.

In most instances, he spins his mighty hammer around faster than we can probably imagine, and lets the momentum take him from the ground to the air. In the first Thor movie, he uses this trick to mow over quite a few frost giants.

Linked to his ability to fly is Thor’s superb speed. He can fly at speeds up to Mach 32 with his trusty hammer and can run at least as fast. In the Journey into Mystery comic, #110, he runs fast enough that no one can actually see him. In issue #112 of the same comic, he crosses New York in “a heartbeat.”

7. Fighting Deity

While no one is quite sure how old Thor is, he is definitely known as the best warrior in Asgard. Asgardians, by the way, are a race of warrior-gods. Even if he were the worst warrior from his land, he would still likely be better than most humans. Add in his centuries of experience and training, and it’s likely no one from Earth can touch him. At least not without some help or other superpowers to match him.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to kind of downplay his fighting ability- he is still an Avenger, but he can’t be better than any of the other Avengers. In fact, in the comic Thor, Volume 1 issue #397, Thor loses his powers, his super strength, and his immortality, and still manages to defeat Grog the God Crusher in hand to hand combat.

6. Doctor Donald Blake

Once upon a time, Thor had a human alter-ego named Doctor Donald Blake. This human was a doctor and had no idea the god was within him. Odin had banished his son to Earth without his Asgardian memories to regain his position as future king of the Asgardians.

While in his human form, he is a highly skilled surgeon, and generally a genius. He uses his mental prowess to construct an Android that can take a hit from the mighty Mjolnir in Journey into Mystery, #95.

Dr. Blake carries a nondescript walking stick. If he is ever parted from his walking stick for more than a minute, he is instantly transformed back into the beautiful god we all know and love, and the cane is transformed back into Mjolnir. Although Odin took away Thor’s alter ego later on, Thor still remembers his medical knowledge and skills.

5. Augments

Other than Mjolnir, Thor also wears a few other magical artifacts. We know that Thor is already so strong that we can’t actually tell exactly how strong he is. He also has a “belt of strength,” named Megingjord, that doubles his physical prowess.

He also routinely wears his gauntlets, named Jarngreipr. Although the comics don’t delve too much into their powers, the comics are fairly true to the original Norse Mythology. As such, we can figure out that the gauntlets help him to control the powerful hammer, which is shorter than it was meant to be.

In the comic Thor, Volume 1 issue #361, he uses his three items (the hammer, gauntlets, and belt) to strengthen his Asgardian powers and defeat Thanos.

4. Mjolnir

Technically one of his augments as mentioned above, Mjolnir is powerful enough to warrant its own entry. Made of a dwarven metal called uru, and crafted with enchantments by those same dwarves. Because of this, it is practically indestructible. The metal itself, without the magic, is stronger than the adamantium alloy that makes up Wolverine’s skeleton.

In tune with Thor’s mind, the god can throw the hammer with all of his immeasurable strength and have it come right back into his hand. It’s almost like a boomerang mixed with a loyal puppy; only it hurts more.

Mjolnir also has the ability to absorb energy thrown at it and return it in an explosive blast. I’ve already mentioned that Mjolnir helps Thor fly, but that is only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.

Not only can almost no one other than Thor wield it, because of a spell cast by Odin that lets the hammer choose only those who are “worthy,” but with it, Thor can summon the Odinforce and control the weather.

3. Elemental Control

As the God of Thunder, Thor is able to use Mjolnir to control lightning and anything a storm would hold. In Journey into Mystery, #86, he shows off his ability to create hurricane-like winds with his own lungs. After Ragnarok, he is imbued with control over earth, coming into his true Elder-God powers.

Without Mjolnir to channel his powers, he can still use a lightning-bolt blast from his hands or create canyons and earthquakes. With Mjolnir, on the other hand, he is at least as strong as the Olympian god of thunder, Zeus.

2. All speak

If you’ve read any of my other articles about the Avengers, you’ll know I have a habit of believing knowledge is incredibly powerful. This is why Doctor Donald Blake is so important to me, despite having no powers himself.

Today will be no different. While most people tend to think of Thor as a bit of a pretty-boy, or all brawn and no brains, most people are wrong. He is, after all, in line to be king of Asgard, and Odin is no dummy – he wouldn’t choose an idiot to rule.

Not only is he a great tactician and strategist, brought on by centuries of studying fighting and war, but he is also imbued with something called Allspeak. To be a diplomat (even warrior races have to keep the peace with other people), it helps if you can speak someone else’s language. All speak does more than that. As the title suggests, it lets Thor speak the language of any creature from the nine realms.

He doesn’t actually speak a different language, however. He speaks his native Norse language, and anyone who hears him magically hears their first language. I don’t know about you, but of all of Thor’s many powers, I think this is the one that I am most envious of.

1. God Force

When Thor’s mighty hammer breaks, the god asks Doctor Stephen Strange to help him. The good doctor binds Thor’s lifeforce with the hammer, which grew his power exponentially. As such, when he and the hammer are united, he can unleash one hell of a blast, called the God Force or God Blast.

With this forceful blast, Thor can destroy basically anything. Immortals have even fallen to this blast: in Thor #161, he used the god force to destroy Galactus.

The Real Reason Chris Evans Is Giving Up Captain America

It's been known for a long time that Chris Evans' contract with the Marvel Cinematic Universe would end after six movies, which would make his appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War his last one. This isn't surprising since all of the main stars have limited contracts, or at least their contracts don’t last as long as we the fans would prefer. Forever, that is what we prefer!

Robert Downey Jr. for instance, was only slated to appear as Iron Man through Avengers: Age of Ultron. Lucky for us, he extended his contract at least through the unnamed Infinity War movie. Chris Hemsworth's contract as Thor is also coming to an end after the second Infinity War movie. In fact, most of the main lineup is close to an end, at least officially.

So where does that leave Cap? As stated above, Chris Evans had been contracted for six movies. He says his reasoning for not signing up for more (like Samuel L Jackson, who originally signed up for 9) is a general fear that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn't be well received. This fear was based on his previous experience in Marvel movies, having portrayed Johnny “Human Torch” Storm in the Fantastic Four movies. The 20th Century Fox produced movies from 2005 and 2007, respectively, were not well-liked by critics or fans.

As of now, Chris isn't dead set one way or another, instead being quoted saying "It's really not up to me. My contract is up. I'm not going to sit here and say, ‘no more." It is important to note going forward, however, just how much he and Captain America are worth. In Captain America: The First Avenger, he earned $300,000 upfront. In the first Avengers film, he earned $2 million. It is rumored he walked away with nearly $7 million for Avengers: Infinity War. Keeping him might merely be out of Marvel (and Disney's) budget, despite what the fans wish to see.

It's not quite time for us to get worried, however. There are teasers all over the internet, from Chris and co-star Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) at the very least that, while Chris Evans may never play Captain America again… Maybe something else is in store!

In the comic books, Captain America turns his back on the government, goes rogue, and goes a bit darker. Taking on a new moniker of Nomad, he continues to be a good-hearted superhero, but one that follows his own orders. Chris and Sebastian hinted that this might be the future of the character (and the actor) when they signed a fans Cap shield with "Nomad," and "I'm with Nomad," respectively.

If this holds true, that means that it isn't Chris that's going away, only Chris as Captain America. I know I, for one, am going to cling to this theory until I'm proven wrong.

10 Superhero Movies You Must Watch

Remember when ‘superhero’ wasn’t an entire genre?

I’m struggling to.

Superheroes have been on-screen since the early days of cinema. Batman, Superman, Captain America and Captain Marvel (the Shazam version, not Marvel’s female one) all featured in serials in the 40s.

1966 gave us the campy Batman: The Movie, and Superman and its sequels dominated the 80s. It wasn’t until X-Men in 2000 and Spider-Man in 2002 that comic book adaptations really started gathering pace though. Since then, we’ve seen Marvel Comics open their own film studios, purely to produce their own comic conversions. DC of course, are hot on their tail, launching the DC movie universe, beginning with Man of Steel (2013).

An enormous amount of heroes and villains, down to the relatively obscure, have been covered in an extremely short amount of time, and we’ve still only scratched the surface. Out of all these adventures I’ve narrowed down the 10 that are an absolute must-see.

10) Spider-Man (2002)

Wolverine was scripted to make a cameo but the Spider-Man crew couldn’t get hold of his outfit from X-Men (2000).

A modern classic, and arguably the best live-action representation of Spider-Man ever.

Depicting the origin of Spider-Man and his nemesis the Green Goblin, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man was a box office smash. The concept sat in development hell for decades, but when eventually released, it was the first film to land $100m in its opening weekend.

Spawning sequels that featured villains Dr. Octopus, Venom, the Sandman, and the second Green Goblin, Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Peter Parker remains the definitive on-screen Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield took over the role for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), but both were poorly received. Tom Holland has since been re-introduced as a young Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, but much is left to prove.

9) Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

The words “I am Groot” were recorded over a thousand times by voice actor Vin Diesel.

Its funny, quirky, and it came out of nowhere - Guardians was an unexpected instant classic.

I’ll happily admit to knowing next-to-nothing about the comic version of the Guardians before the film came out. I don’t think many who saw it did. However, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy was an underdog hit, with a witty cast and an awesome soundtrack. Properties like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk bring a whole load of baggage with them. Certain accepted canon is expected to be retained, and you’re likely to be criticized for going too dark with the tone, or conversely, too family-friendly.

For Guardians, relative obscurity was an advantage. The grand majority of viewers entered the cinema with no idea what to expect. What they received, was a superhero movie deeply entangled with Marvel lore, yet with no requirement to take itself as seriously as The Avengers. This movie doesn’t need to justify why aliens, or magic, or super-powered humans, are roaming the streets of real cities. It simply focuses on being amusing, touching and relatable. The colourful and extra-terrestrial subject matter is all window dressing, for a great story about a team of misfits.

8) Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)

The Red Hood is a disguise utilized several times throughout Gotham City’s history by various criminals. Most famously it was used by The Joker, which is why the murdered and reborn Robin decides to adopt it.

Our only animated entrant, Under the Red Hood managed to knock the long-acclaimed Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero off the Rotten Tomatoes top-spot.

Sub-Zero had been the most beloved and respected Batman animated feature since it was released in 1998. That may sound like quite a niche accolade, but Mystery of the Batwoman, Return of the Joker, The Dark Knight Returns, Gotham Knight, Batman vs. Robin and Year One (all animated) beat out every single live-action adaptation of Batman on Rotten Tomatoes. The exception being The Dark Knight, but several even beat that.

The grand prize goes to Under the Red Hood with one-hundred-freakin’-percent though. That beats every Star Wars too.

The plot is centred on the resurrection of Jason Todd, the second Robin who was murdered by The Joker. Returning to Gotham as the ‘Red Hood’ he slaughters criminals before Batman can arrest them, and takes the fight to his former mentor. A heart-breaking tale of a father figure, the proxy son he failed, and a complete madman, that pushes Batman to the absolute limits of his moral code.

7) The Avengers (2012)

Mark Ruffalo was considered for Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk (2008) before Edward Norton took the role, only to pull out of a follow-up. Ruffalo would eventually become the jolly green giant after all in The Avengers (2012).

The long-awaited alliance of Marvel’s finest was a box office juggernaut.

You can’t fault Marvel for playing the long game with Avengers. It was way back in 2008’s Iron Man that Samuel L. Jackson first appeared in the end-credits and spoke of the ‘Avengers initiative’.

Back in the days of Blade, X-Men and Hulk, a project like The Avengers seemed a distant dream, and, I suppose, it did take another decade. This film was the pay-off from four years of end-credit vignettes featuring Sam Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, gathering the best and brightest in Marvel-land for the defence of the planet. Avengers marked a new dawn for superheroes on screen. Credit for the modern surge in comic-converted movies also lies in the lap of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, and Sony and FOX’s Marvel-based efforts. The Avengers, though, was built for Marvel, by Marvel, and truly made “superhero” a genre in and of itself.

6) Justice League (2017)

The elephant in the room continues to be “who – and where – is the Green Lantern?”

I know it’s not out yet, but I’m convinced it’s gonna be great.

So, the DCEU has been a bit of a slow-starter. Man of Steel was okay, Dawn of Justice was good but probably didn’t meet the hype, and Suicide Squad was a lot of fun, but struggled in it’s organisation. My glass, however, remains very much half-full. Despite not being out-of-the-park home runs, everything DC has presented so far has been at least good. Faith in Batfleck is growing, the Wonder Woman trailers look great, GOT’s Jason Momoa is hauling Aquaman out of Family Guy cut-scene hell, and on-set insiders suggest The Flash and Cyborg have a good chemistry.

The DCEU takes a lot of flak from critics, but count the Marvel mediocrities when they were at this stage of the game. We still don’t know who the Green Lantern is, or even what version of Lantern it will be, but if he isn’t at least hinted at in Justice League, I’ll be shocked.

5) X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Evan Peters (American Horror Story) played Magneto’s son Quicksilver in Days of Future Past, but the character would be used again, with a different actor, and alongside his sister Scarlet Witch, in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Magneto’s children are within a small handful of characters that both 20th Century FOX, and Marvel Studios, have the right to use.

The best of a good bunch.

The most lucrative X-Men movie until Deadpool swaggered onto the scene, Days of Future Past was far superior to the more recent X-Men: Apocalypse. Hopping through time, DOFP brought together the original Xavier and Magneto (Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen) and the newer, younger (yet chronologically older) versions (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender). X-Men and X2 were great for their time, but dated quickly, and Last Stand threw in too many new characters at the last minute.

Of all 9 X-attached movies (Logan will make 10), the only real competitors for Days of Future Past’s claim of ‘best’ are First Class and Deadpool, and DOFP encompasses a huge mutant cast. If you’re new to X-Men, think of Days of Future Past as the mutant Empire Strikes Back.

4) Suicide Squad (2016)

Tom Hardy (Bane in The Dark Knight Rises), was originally set to play Rick Flagg, but opted to act opposite Leo DiCaprio in The Revenant instead.

Suicide Squad transcends anti-heroism. It addresses the fact that many of us unashamedly support the villains.

Task Force X is one of the most original and enduring concepts in DC history. Supervillain lifers, most of which are awaiting death row, are let loose to complete government black ops missions, on the sole basis that they are expendable. The reward? Time off their sentences. However, if they veer even slightly from the plan, the explosives implanted in their necks are detonated. The great thing about Suicide Squad comics, is that the line-up is ever rotating, and mostly C-List at best. You truly don’t know who will be killed off. Even to the real-life DC executives, these guys are cannon fodder.

The movie had a lot of great scenes, and brought limelight upon long over-looked characters. Plot, and corporate editing, were clearly an issue though. A few characters seemed under-explored and fleeting, in favour of a nameless CGI baddy. A sequel looks likely, however, and if nothing else, upcoming Batman and Harley Quinn-centric features are confirmed. There’s still plenty of time to improve upon the mistakes of Suicide Squad’s first installation.

3) Watchmen (2009)

Watchmen is the crown jewel of Alan Moore’s unprecedented graphic novel work. Moore is the man behind V for Vendetta, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Batman: The Killing Joke, John Constantine, and From Hell.

Watchmen is less a superhero movie, and more a critical commentary on vigilantism, geo-politics, and the world’s perception of justice.

Watchmen is a superhero tale for people sceptical of superheroes. It’s over-arching narrative explores the negatives of street justice from all perspectives. It shows the flaws in those who look messianic on the surface, and casts light upon their mundane lives behind the scenes.

Adapted from a 1985 graphic novel that is widely considered the best in its genre, Zack Snyder’s (Man of Steel, BvS: Dawn of Justice) Ultimate Cut of Watchmen even includes the Black Freighter side-story - A sub-plot of loss and vengeance in the time of piracy, that reflects and highlights the main story.

2) Deadpool 2

Marvel’s Wade ‘Deadpool’ Wilson is a brazen and direct parody of DC’s Slade ‘Deathstroke’ Wilson.

He’s not the hero we deserve, or the one we need right now. In fact, he’s barely a hero.

Deadpool was a roll of the dice that came up double-sixes. Not only is the property lacking the name-value of most super-flicks, but Deadpool’s entire existence is a sly nod to the competition.

Sometimes the direction, casting, script and soundtrack of a movie create an inexplicable smoothie of epic-ness though. Deadpool was one of those smoothies. After failed efforts in Blade: Trinity, Green Lantern and, in fact, as Deadpool, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds defied all odds and made Deadpool the comic-conversion of the day.

Funny enough to hold its own in the comedy genre beyond the world of super-humans, Deadpool is a triumph in the same vein as Guardians of the Galaxy, but with more blood and sex toys.

1) The Dark Knight (2008)

The scene where Joker must repeatedly hit the faulty detonator button to blow up the hospital, was all ad-libbed. They only had one shot at the scene, and it didn’t go to plan. Luckily Heath Ledger’s improvisation made it a cinematic stand-out.

“When the chips are down, these civilized people…they’ll eat each other.”

Call it a far-cry from the comics if you’d like, but Heath Ledger’s Joker is a cultural icon. Like Malcolm McDowell’s Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange, Ledger’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime was unique, and aggressively of its time.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises deserve to make this list as well, but I thought dedicating nearly a third of the list to them would be somewhat redundant. The Joker’s schemes in Dark Knight are inspired and sadistic social experiments, putting everything concocted in the Saw films to shame. You don’t need to care about Batman, or the wider metahuman-populated world to enjoy Dark Knight. If there was ever an entry point for casual fans who just don’t get what all this Joker hype is about, Christopher Nolan’s second Bat-flick is it.
