[Top 3] AC Valhalla Best Bear Armour Sets (And How To Get Them)

Assassins Creed Valhalla has an enormous skill tree, with around 400 skill points needed to max it out. Within this skill tree there are 3 distinctions on each path which lend themselves to 3 different play styles. There is way of the raven, The way of the wolf and the way of the bear. Below are the top 3 armours in the ‘bear’ category, how good they are and where to get them. Skal!

3. Berserker Armour Set

The most literal "Bear" armour in the game (pictured above)

The “bear” skill tree in Valhalla focuses on high damage and high armour, in old gamer speak it’s the ‘tanky’ class. This set based on what certain viking berserkers would have worn fits the bill very early into the game. The Viking berserkers were actually outcasts in society, their ferocity and bloodlust and disregard for who they attacked on the battlefield made them a controversial hire for chieftains at the time.

There are armour sets slightly better than this stats wise, but bear with me here there are reasons why it has made the list.

It’s bonus traits are an increase to speed when taking damage (this bonus stacks 5 times) and general increases to your attack and armour points. These bonuses depending on how you play the game are invaluable at the start, and still useful at the end of the game.

Why is it so great?

With any edition of the game that isn’t standard you get the armour first thing into the game,
When gotten so early you can improve and mould your play style to it,
Bonuses are perfect honestly,
You literally wear a bears head as a helmet,

How to get this?

As I mentioned before, if you have the standard edition of the game you will have to buy from the ubisoft store or hope the luck of Reda’s store pulls through. If you have gold/ultimate edition it will already be there.

2. Brigandine Armour Set

Brigandine armour was a staple of the time. (Above)

A Brigandine is armour made from very heavy cloth/leather/canvas lined with steel plates riveted into whatever fabric was used. This is the same principle of modern day bullet proof/flak vests. This technique has been used for so long that no one is 100% certain where/when it started, but one thing we do know is Vikings had them, so A+ for accuracy.

This armour is a great example of how good looking but functional a lot of the armours in this game are. The bonuses on this armour mean you can use it throughout with a couple of upgrades. The bonuses are an increase in melee damage and increased armour when ‘surrounded by more than 2 enemies’. This helps with all of the river raids which at certain points into the game do become challenging as well as being almost like having a companion when attacking camps on your own.

Why is it so great?

Not difficult to obtain, just a little time consuming,
The bonuses are so so useful late game,
Another great looking armour,
Fitting in with the time compared to more outlandish sets,
Great stats,
Heavily helped by the way of the bear skill tree,

Where to get it?

This armour is in 5 locations, 3 parts in Cent (Kent) and 2 parts in Sciropescire (Shropshire).

The trousers are in Dover Fortress in Cent. When you arrived at the area a white staircase icon will appear, these stairs lead to a restricted area full of guards. After you clear the area and take out a wall you get the armour chest.

The gauntlets are in Beamasfield Cent. Beamasfield is West of Canterbury and contains a few hostile guards. To unlock the building where the chest is, clear the area use Odin sight to find the keys and Ivans your uncle.

The armour is in Canterbury Cathedral Cent. Behind a locked door inside the cathedral, you need to find the gap to shoot the lock with an arrow. Follow the path through the door and you will get the armour, simple.

The helmet is located in Wenlocan Outpost Sciropescire. Hidden behind a large rock inside a cave in the outpost you will set your hands on this helmet. Nothing too complicated.

The cape is in Quatford Sciropescire. Found in a little underground area, picture below for guidance. There are a few fences to smash through down here, once your carpentry work is done you will find a large chest with said cape.

1. Rus Armour Set

The pinnacle of Viking fashion. A must have this season. (Above)

Named for a norse state of Kievan Rus/Kyivan Rus, the cultural ancestor of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine (that’s awkward), this area was famed for smithing and quality. Fitting then that this armour is the best in line with the ‘bear’ skill tree and also looks the most authentic.

At it’s base level it gives you a +10 to both melee resistance and +10 to armour in general. As a plus your attack stat increases as you get more outnumbered, +8,+12 and a whopping +20 when surrounded by 3 or more enemies, 4 or more enemies and 5 or more enemies respectively. If you want to be a tank then this is Tiger or the Challenger.

Could beat the game on any difficulty with this

Where to get it?

For this armour you need the Wrath of the Druids DLC. Once you get Dublin to level 3 renown this armour set becomes available for purchase. Using the texts, delicacies and luxuries you find through Ireland you buy this through the trade posts.

Bracers-80 texts and 30 delicacies
Breeches-100 clothing and 40 delicacies
Helmet-60 clothing, 60 texts and 20 delicacies
Cloak-30 delicacies and 40 luxuries
Shield-80 clothing, 45 delicacies, 30 luxuries

Yes that is a lot but for possibly the best armour in the game it Is so worth it.

So there you have the top 3 way of the bear aligned armours in the game, my advice is grab yourself a special edition, most places have them on discounts now. Use the berserker armour till your find the brigandine armour, then use that till you conquer Dublin.

The definition of an assassin is fairly simple. It’s defined as “a person who commits murder especially one who murders a politically important person either for money or from fanatical adherence to a cause” and that’s what we are going to be talking about today.

In gaming there has been a multitude of assassin’s that utilize tools of death like blades, poison, sniper rifles, and even piano wires.

With all of the assassins that have existed in the gaming world, I am going to list down, in my opinion, the most famous assassins to have ever existed in games.

10. Ellie - The Last of Us Part II

“Don’t scream or I’ll shoot”

We have witnessed the transformation of Ellie from The Last of Us series from being a wisecracking 14 year old kid to the army murdering, horde slaying, badass killer that she is today.

We’re talking about The Last of Us II iteration of Ellie in this list because in the first game she doesn’t do much murdering.

Albeit she helps out Joel, the playable character of the first game, but she doesn't do the main murdering in the first installment.

In the second game though, literal hordes of infected and human enemies have been burned, stabbed, dismembered, shot, and blown up by Ellie on a quest for vengeance.

Trust me, you DO NOT want to be on Ellie’s bad side. She will machete your face off and blow your corpse up just for fun.

Fun fact about Ellie, the tattoo on Ellie’s arm was designed by tattoo artist Natalie Hall.Before being put in the game, it was tested on the arm of UI artist and designer Alexandria Neonakis.

9. Mysterion - South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Do you know what it feels like to be stabbed? To be shot? Decapitated? Torn apart? Burned? Run over? It's not pretty cool

Who is Mysterion? Is he an undead assassin? Is he a demon sent out to protect South Park? A government agent?

Well.. no. Mysterion is actually Kenny McCormick in disguise. Kenny might be a silent kid in the morning who lives in a trailer park but at night he transforms into the vigilante known as Mysterion.

Mysterion appears in the 2017 game South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which acts as a sequel to the 2014 game South Park: The Stick of Truth. Mysterion sides with the Freedom Pals along with Dr. Timothy, Toolshed, Tupperware, and Wonder Tweek.

In the game he is seen possessing strange powers such as shadow manipulation and a dark energy that he uses for long range combat with enemies.

His main power, as we all know, is that he cannot die but in game even if Mysterion dies he will come back as a ghost and keep on fighting.

Mysterion is named after a 1960s TV series called Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. Captain Scarlet has the power to reincarnate and regenerate from any injury given by a race of aliens called the Mysterons.

8. The Second Sister - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

“I’m stronger now because of the pain”

The sith from the Star Wars franchise are the antithesis of the Jedi Order where they are devoted to the dark side of the force that use hate, deception, and greed as their conduits of power.

In this evil empire of killers, there exists a subgroup known as “sisters” that are tasked to hunt down any remaining Jedi in the galaxy. In Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, we are introduced to the deadliest of the sisters, Trilla Suduri AKA The Second Sister.

The Second Sister was formerly a force sensitive padawan en route to becoming a Jedi but was captured by the galactic empire and was subjected to torture and pain until her psyche broke.

She turned to the dark side and became its deadliest Jedi assassin.

Trilla was tasked to hunt down the main character of the game, Cal Kestis, and made his life a living hell all throughout the course of the game.

Her strength in the wielding of the force is further amplified by her hatred towards the Jedi and her deadly dual lightsabers.

The Second Sister was actually first seen in a comic book about Darth Vader 2 years prior to the release of the game. She made her on screen debut in 2019 in the game.

7. Nina Williams - Tekken Franchise

“You’ve got a date with death”

Appearing in every installment of the Tekken franchise all the way from the very first game, Nina Williams is one of the most famous faces in the roster.

Nina is an assassin first sent out to murder Kazuya Mishima but subsequently joined in the Tekken Tournament. She is perpetually put into cryosleep that’s why throughout the years she never seems to age.

Her fighting style is composed of grapples, holds, and a variation of different throws. Koppojutsu is the name of her main martial art which is the main martial art used by assassins.

One thing to know about Nina is that during her cryosleep, her ovum was taken out of her without her knowledge. The ovum that was taken from her was used to create the world renowned boxer, Steve Fox who first appeared in Tekken 4

6. Jin Sakai - Ghost of Tsushima

“I am not your son.. I am the Ghost”

Samurais have a strict code that is built on honor and justice. Any deviation from that code leads to dishonor and exile from his family and clan.

But when invaders from a far away land wipe out all of his samurai brethren and threaten Jin Sakai’s home, he has no choice but to adapt new tactics that go against the samurai code to fight the Mongol army all on his own.

Jin Sakai is a former samurai lord turned assassin that protects his island of Tsushima and the neighboring island of Iki.

He appears in the astounding 2020 game, Ghost of Tsushima, as the main playable character where he uses his katana to cut down throngs of Mongols along with bombs, kunai, and arrows.

But he also has to contend with his samurai upbringing and his uncle who is a steadfast samurai warrior who chooses to live and die by the samurai code.

Jin’s name translates to “benevolence, compassion, humanity” which perfectly describes how he rules over his people where he chooses to fight for it till his last breath.

5. Ada Wong - Resident Evil Franchise

“I don’t always play by your rules”

One of the most recognizable characters in the Resident Evil franchise is the enigmatic spy and assassin for hire, Ada Wong.

She has gained notoriety amongst all the other characters in the franchise due to her unknown past and often romantic ties with other series favorite, Leon S. Kennedy.

Ada is normally hired by the highest bidder to handle difficult situations and accomplish normally impossible missions. Whether it be political assassinations, specimen retrieval, or even rescue. Ada Wong has the means to do it and more.

True to her secretive nature, Ada Wong is only an alias. Her true name remains a mystery and so do her motivations for her actions.

She describes her various allegiances and missions as a means to an end to her “true purpose” and is not afraid to betray her employers or even her allies to achieve this.

4. Scorpion - Mortal Kombat Franchise

“GET OVER HERE”

Wielding one of gaming's most iconic weapons and with a badass catch phrase to boot. Hanzo Hasashi is better known by his most famous moniker, Scorpion.

Scorpion has appeared in every single Mortal Kombat game since the very first one back in 1992. He is a resurrected ninja from earthrealm that now resides in the netherrealm as an undead ninja assassin hell bent on revenge for the death of his clan and his family.

He wields his iconic rope dart to make his enemies get over here. He also possesses a katana that he can set on fire and teleportation to give his opponents a fiery surprise attack from behind.

He is known for his rivalry with another series regular, Sub Zero. Their rivalry has spanned the entire franchise but has mellowed down over the years as they even started working with each other.

His iconic “GET OVER HERE” taunt is voiced by the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon himself.

3. Mordecai - Borderlands Franchise

“Ah, another day. Another kill”

Appearing in every Borderlands game in the series, Mordecai first appeared in the original 2009 Borderlands game as “The Hunter”.

He uses his sniper rifle to execute long range assassinations and with the help of his BFF Bloodwing, he uses her for support and reconnaissance for scoping out terrain and intel of enemies.

He first knew of his prowess for long range accuracy at the age of 17 when he joined and won a marksman competition with only the use of a pistol while everyone else used sniper rifles.

Since then he has been racking up kills and contracts and came out alive and on top in every single one.

He first teamed up with the original vault hunters in the 2009 Borderlands game along with Roland, Lilith, and Brick.

He has since split apart from his original team to form a sub team with Brick as they adopted another series regular and fan favorite, Tiny Tina.

Mordecai is proficient with any kind of weapon and is deadly at close range or at a distance. Shotguns, pistols, rifles, rocket launchers, and even knives all become 100 times deadlier at the hands of Pandora’s deadliest marksman.

2. Agent 47 - Hitman Franchise

“Names are for friends, and I don’t need one”

It is a well known fact that being bald means you have immeasurable power in your own respect.

Kratos is the god of war and has the power to murder literal gods, Sagat from Street Fighter can tiger uppercut your head to the sky, and even The Rock who’s appeared in numerous WWE games has the innate ability to be the most detailed character in the roster of every yearly WWE game release.

But few of these big bald bambinos can measure up to the mystique and or skills of Hitman’s Agent 47.

Agent 47 is the top ranked assassin of the world spanning International Contract Agency until he exposed the agency to the public which then ended its existence for good.

Since the dissolution of the ICA, he and his associate Diana Burnwood are now freelance mercenaries on a contract-for-hire basis that goes to the highest bidder.

He is a genetically modified and physically superior human being that allows him to see things at a slower rate while also moving faster than a normal human. He can headshot a room full of 20 enemies before they even have time to raise their weapons.

His genetically enhanced physiology also lets him see tracks and evidence that is not normally seen by even the most hardened detectives and is a master of disguise and his signature Hardballer Longslide Silenced Pistols.

Only two of his targets have survived in his whole career, Mark Faba and his associate Diana.

1. Ezio Auditore da Firenze - Assassin's Creed (The Ezio Trilogy)

‘My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and as my father before me. I am an assassin”

None in gaming history has anyone come close to the legend that Ezio has brought to his franchise and gaming as a whole.

Throughout his dedicated trilogy in the Assassin’s Creed games we have witnessed him develop from a cocky florentine nobleman during the renaissance to a hero and savior of the literal world due to his shadow missions he operated in along with help from various historical figures including Leonardo da Vinci himself.

He wields the iconic hidden blades on both of his wrists and also utilizes pistols and poison darts. Later in his career he has used a hookblade along with his hidden blades to climb buildings faster.

He is widely regarded to be the best assassin in the Assassin’s Creed games, even beating out the original series protagonist, Altair.

Even until Valhalla which is the most recent game in the franchise, his influence is still felt with some even speculating he is still alive in the animus.

Assassin's Creed has been a story spanning generations. From early American assassins to fake pirate assassins, to ancient Greek assassins, the only thing that stayed the same is our favorite eagle vision. even the story has been slowly moving away from templars after Black Flag. Of course with so many games and multiple generations,it only makes sense we have such a variety of assassins to play as both real-world and in-game. I'm sure to be as curious as you if we currently have any assassins today, but I've found 25 images of conclusive proof the fight between assassins and templars still rages today!

A steampunk style assassin that is more advanced then current ones.

Jacob Frye Is one of the paired assassins. Convincing his sister, they left their previous assassin’s clan in order to take London back from the templars, even bringing up a clan known as the Rooks. While not as smooth and stealthy as his sister, Jacob is certainly more of a brawler able to take several larger men in a fight at the same time! Jacob definitely reflects my own playstyle in stealth games: no one can witness you killing if everyone is dead. A sound strategy and one Jacob has expertise in. When he and his sister get their hands on the zipline, he definitely acts the same way I did excited to play with the new toy. The zipline itself makes getting to points far faster than any normal channel, almost necessary with London’s towers, castles, and smokestacks which personally I’m glad I didn't have to climb

Likely the most powerful assassins you hope you wont meet.

Interestingly enough, at the beginning of this game you choose a DNA strand that was muddled in the animus allowing you to choose to play as a male or Female. Alexios, also known as Demos, did not have it easy. Growing up he barely survived a massive fall which led to him being kidnaped by cultists. Being the grandson of king Leonidas and having great potential for the cult, they forced him to endure a torturous childhood where he was turned into a weapon and brainwashed to do as the cult wished. He ultimately met his demise realizing the things he had done and forcing his sister to kill him. Poor guy probably just needs a hug oop, stabbing him works as well.

Duel flintlock guns that can fire with wet gunpowder. They really were ahead of their time werent they?

Edward Kenway didn’t always look this good. Originally his clothes belonged to Duncan Walpole. An arrogant man who became an assassin due to his skills, but ultimately betrayed the assassins due to their stifling rules and lack of prominent figures. He eventually found his blade to another templar's throat who recruited Duncan in promise of fame and fortune. Duncan would help the templars capture a sage who could bring templars to an ancient weapon to subjugate the world. Unfortunately, he would end up meeting a pirate ship on his way back to meet the templars and wound up shipwrecked on an island with one Edward Kenway. These would be the final minutes of his life as Edward would kill him, steal his robes and identity. A blade to the back, and hidden in the brush? A traitor's end indeed.

It's always impresive how assassins can climb with so much weight. Have you ever felt how heavy these swords and guns are?

With his stylish new outfit, Edward Kenway found a golden opportunity. He had a letter noting the promise of riches beyond imagination, and as lady luck had it the writer had never seen Duncan's face but would recognize him by clothing. having a prism worth a massive amount of money, what's a pirate to do but return this property to their rightful owner? He would also shortly happen upon a small ship being accosted by the British that could bring him back to the mainland! With this kind of luck, it’s a wonder he didn't spend more time playing games at taverns. Wielding dual Swords, his weaponry is certainly one of the more unique of stealthy assassins!

Sometimes the constant parkour is unnecissary, but when it looks this good who cares?

Assassins are among the most stealthy individuals. Despite their clear clothing and insignias, very few people in the world actually know of their existence. The main reason for this is their skills at a travel style known as Parkour (not the one from the office). Each movement is skillfully maneuvered and they can instantly make snap decisions in moments. They can scale the tallest of buildings in minutes, always finding the slightly loose brick or slight crack to maneuver themselves without fear of falling. Being incredibly skilled in this method of movement, they are able to stealthily infiltrate even the most secure buildings with ease. It should also be noted they occasionally can misjudge timing slightly and will spend minutes of time trying to jump up walls accidentally while running. *ahem*

We always praise the assassins practical skills, but considering how old the order is they also have incredible beard grooming methods!

Despite its odd appearance, assassins are always armored. They usually keep this armor fastened to themselves during all hours of the day so as to never become surprised attacked. While usually consisting of leather and metal in addition to the white hood, the assassins didn't keep a consistent appearance between them. The only thing that would change consistently is their belt. The belt fastened pouches where assassins would be able to pull most of their tricks including smoke bombs, throwing knives, and any odds or ends that could help them in combat. They also keep the assassin’s insignia fastened to the front as a badge of honor. Not my choice when being inconspicuous but I also haven't been trained in stealth science birth, so I prefer to think of it as them sticking out their tongues to templars saying: “Yeah we’ll out ourselves as assassins in broad daylight in the town square, what're ya gonna do about it?”

We don't see it often, but how cool would a trident be as a weapon?

Assassins have been known to wield a lot of different weapons. From their trademark blades, to swords, to pistols, and yes to both tridents and mega hammers. While not the stealthiest weapon, they are certainly unique. I’m sure if someone ran at you with either you'd be too confused before being 3 point shibob or flatter than a templar's heartbeat. Even hand to hand they are specialists in their own type of fighting style very similar to Krav Maga showing heavy emphasis on attacking the throat and eyes of their opponents. With most assassins training decades in the field against beasts, they don't really have an issue with any opponent they fight against. Effectively whether they cut your throat standing behind you, or they face you head-on, you don’t have a great chance at beating one without luck on your side and a lot of experience.

I wonder if the assassins trained animals to climb the same way they did, or did assassins train them in parkour?

Assassins are fairly good beast tamers. Although they rarely have to find an animal companion that isn't a bird, they have been known to work well with animals in nature. Even when an assassin kills an animal, they do it using the rules of the hunt making sure each part of the animal is used. Oftentimes the pelts are used for carrying cases or to better their armor, the bones are used for darts or as sharp weapons to be used some even turning it into jewelry, and their meat is eaten by them or sold off to the market to hunters who use it. In the aftermath of skinning an animal, only the animal's viscera remains to be quickly eaten by other natural predators. It is also worth noting that some specific animals were hunted only because they caused issues with native people and the animal population as a whole. I’m still waiting for the day we see an assassin riding a wooly mammoth they found frozen in ice and used a piece of Eden to revive. Make it happen!

A picture-perfect Apple of Eden. The main piece connects and shapes the entirety of humanity, in addition to spelling out the assassin's conflict. Originally one of many pieces built by the Isu in order to control humanity's thoughts and actions to force peace, two human Isu hybrids are known as Adam and Eve stole the Apple and began the human Isu war. During the war, a solar flare hit earth massively damaging both parties, but while the Isu slowly became extinct, humanity would only grow. Now Templars wish to act as the Isu, forcing peace among humanity and preventing conflict, while the assassins believe that free will is more important. It’s an interesting discussion that asks would you give up your free will to have global peace? Also, if the assassins want them never to be used, why not throw them into a volcano or something? Even if the apple lives, I don't think the templars are getting to it any time soon.

I wonder if female pirates suffer from the same struggles as female workers in the 2000's?

During the 1700s, assassins weren’t all that different from pirates on a surface level. Of course, most pirates were in it for the money and adventure while assassins wanted to protect humanity, but they shared many of the same skill sets. During Edward keyways journey, we clearly saw that he held much of the expertise assassins did and he was a pirate captain when the story began. Every finger of his was like a fishhook, his stealth abilities were incredible even able to take on several assassins from the brotherhood. Even when he got his hands on a hidden blade, he mastered it fairly quickly. He even became a hero who managed to stop the templar's ultimate plan (although he also set the plan in motion so…?) Without a doubt true rags to riches story.

Ratonhnhaké:ton, or Connor as I’ll call him for simplicity was made an assassin as a teenager. While young he was a native living off the land during the colonial period which did not bode well with Americans… expanding. He lost his mother and entire village due to colonial templars raiding it to find a sacred temple. Soon after, he sought teaching by an older assassin named Achilles Davenport who would end up training him for many years to become an assassin and gave him the pseudonym Connor. I’m sure it was no offense but Ratonhnhaké:ton doesn't really roll off the tongue. Eventually, he would find the apple of Eden in his possession seeing a vision of a tyrannical United States. The vision would eventually cause him to form the colonial assassins in the newly formed U.S and he quickly disposed of the apple by hiding it. His specialties always included stealth as a child as hunting was natural practice for natives in order to get food. It’s nice to see the assassins took in, trained, and allowed Connor to form a whole brotherhood during this era.

James Kidd really does look good doesn’t he? I suppose they thought the name Mary Read was too feminine, but most of the early life, their mother did dress her up as a boy to pass them off as another person's child. Kidd became an assassin only shortly after having a position in the royal navy in their teenage years. Either they were desperate, or Kidd had the skills to match. After joining and marrying a man, she became content, until her husband died of ill-defined causes right after the wedding. After this, she continued to dress as a man and eventually met a man named Ah Tabai immediately trusting him due to wisdom in his eyes. It would be this man who trained her as a full-fledged pirate assassin who kept an eye on the unlawful side, matching or likely even surpassing the skills of Edward Kenway shortly after their meeting.

Being as high as he was in the sky, this assassin was barely photographed before taking the assassin staples leap of faith. In this jump, an assassin would survey a large area at the highest point, and then dramatically leap off into a safe and soft landing to save time climbing down. A true staple of assassins and a direct proof that they hold no fear from heights unlike me. Additionally, they are noted to jump, do ¾ of a flip, and land all with their eyes closed trusting in their body and movements to make the correct decisions. Considering I cant move around my house with eyes closed before slamming into a wall, I’d have to say “Leap Of Faith” is a perfect description.

Assassins have always been known as an organization rather than a few individuals with similar goals. Better known as the brotherhood of assassins, most are trained from birth to become an assassin and they have strict laws and punishments specific to their order. They all fight in order to keep humanity free with a will and mind that makes their own decisions originating back to ancient Egypt. While their main enemy is Templars, it is not exclusive as they are known to take action to free men and women from captivity whenever possible. They also believe in the Assassin's Creed (He said it!) which primarily restricted unnecessary slaughter of innocents, preserved the reputation of oneself and of the Order, and was meant to create peace not only within the world but within the individual. It was hoped that while few, these rules would be unbreakable and form a larger group willing to fight against the Templar's tyranny. I still want to know the secret handshake, but I have it on good authority that it involves losing your ring finger sooo…

What do assassins do in their free time? Do they have jobs? Do they have friends? Do a few have to choose between a promotion and the creed?

As is well known, most assassins did not look even remotely similar. While the traditional assassins are known to wear white garments, it was not required by any means. White did have a tendency to stick out in a crowd after all, so some would prefer darker colors. Of course, this armor is worn year-round so keeping it warm and cold is necessary when battling the elements. Most assassins have pelts or fur lining the interior or armor while keeping the armor made of the leather hide. These elements are easy to remove in a pinch all except the bare armor colored by preference. Most of the time, an assassin would simply use smoke bombs, but in last cases, being able to shed quickly would become necessary.

I think the assassins have some kind of aviary that holds birds trained for assassin duties, and if thats the case, at least one trained assassin is on cleanup.

Eagle Vision is one of the assassin's most valuable powers. Eagle vision for humans is a result of cross-breeding between humans and Isu. The Isu was immediately able to harness this vision with what they called knowledge. Humans on the other hand all have the ability, but many have to train for years to access it. However, some rare humans are able to instantly tap into the ability due to life circumstances forcing them to learn it. The vision allows humans to see a type of aura that gives insight as to its properties according to the user. Red being an enemy, blue an ally, white a useful object, and gold are things of interest. Most notably, it appears it directly relates to how we perceive them as the auras have changed based on how the assassin knows them. This aura can be seen through walls and it can even be used to sense heartbeats or walking paths depending on the user. It’s an invaluable skill when it comes to the art of killing and I think it would make the real world a lot easier if I could just look for the golden light to victory.

The sister of Alexios, and daughter to King Leonidis, Kassandra. She by no means had an easy childhood, but she was better off in comparison to her brother. After preventing the sacrifice of her brother and being condemned by Sparta, she was forced off a cliff to what they thought would be her death. Worst Day Ever. Unfortunately for them, spartans are the toughest people around, and she survived enough to sail a boat away. She was then found by a man named Markos who raised her similar to a daughter, but they grew up more like friends, even having Kassandra bail him out of several situations despite the age gap. Again spartans don’t mess around. She then grew up to become Mistios and protector to those who ask. As a spartan, she is heavily trained in many types of weapons in addition to fighting styles. Eventually, she would become involved with cultists and traitors which she had to prevent from gaining power. As a historical figure, she is seen as a precursor to the assassin's brotherhood, but likely inspiration for its creation.

A lot of assassins lost their ring fingers from the hidden blade, so what does that do to a marriage?

Viking assassin… Man, that's an awesome phrase. While not entirely like the traditional assassin, these Vikings were trained in stealth and combat through standard Viking nature. Hardened by tough lives, they would become more fighters upfront than those who hide behind, and with the build and clothing most had, it was far harder to hide. This made it, so those who could be vicious and likely feared for miles upon miles. Additionally, we are able to see the use of hidden blades dating back to these Norse legends. Although it is not hidden in a natural sense as early versions of the blade would be from a pulse in the wrist cutting off the wearer's ring finger. Instead, some chose to wear it on the outside as a type of intimidation tactic before battles.

I wonder how the assassin order spread around the globe? did they just set sail in search of people? How did they stay in contact?

Eivor is one of few Viking assassins not belonging to the brotherhood. At an early age, her parents were murdered in front of her causing her to swear vengeance upon them and kill the man known as Kjotve. Only minutes after her parent's death, she was attacked by wolves and injured but survived with the name: Wolf kissed. I’m seeing a trend between rough childhoods and assassins. While stealthy in plans, she was also ruthlessly competent in combat, most notably being proficient in Viking weapons including dual axes. She would eventually avenge her family and live a life of honor at one point ending a cult seeking to replace Christianity and Norse faith with their own and participating in the second Viking siege of Paris. While she did lead an interesting life, I don’t think the Norse gods really helped as much as she believed they did. But each to their own, and I'm not arguing with a Viking anytime soon.

Besides the normal hidden blade, why didn't more assassins use other kinds of hidden weapons like Evie?

Evie Fryethe sister of the Frye twins and certainly more stealthy than her younger brother. While sharing a backstory many of their personal aspects differ. While Jacob preferred battered submission, Evie preferred blades, the most notable of which being her cane blade. Being the slightly more sensible twin, she handles most of the day-to-day affairs and talking side of things. The twins would become ensnared by a multitude of events, one of the most interesting being their meeting with Jack the Ripper. Realizing Jack the Ripper kidnapped Jacob, Evie manages to track the murderer down and kill him, fortunately finding Jacob alive if not slightly uncomfortable. We realize during the story that Jack had once been an assassin but disliked the way the brotherhood had been handling things. It’s a pretty good dark mirror of what could happen if Jacob or Evie continue to ignore their creed simply because it is simple. Ultimately, Jack, the ripper was incredible, if not disturbed, an assassin who was a good amount of fun!

I wonder if there are earlier fights by assassins ageinst the templars we don't know about? Can we see a prehistoric assassin ride a mammoth in battle?

The name is not just for fanfare. Bayek could be seen as one of the original assassins that formed the brotherhood. Originally a Medjay, he lived a mostly peaceful life until an organization known as the order of the ancients killed his son because he refused to give them entry to the Siwa-Vault. The Order of the Ancients was seen as a prototype of the Templars, much like Bayek was a prototype for the assassins. Bayek would systematically kill every member aligned with this organization out of vengeance only to realize the 6 degrees of separation. Considering the massive amount of people involved, Bayek would not be able to complete his mission himself and found a greater evil within this organization that required its end. It was then that Bayek founded the Egyptian Brotherhood of Assassins recruiting people from anywhere he found talent. He also became the seed for the creed and its rules on never harming an innocent life.

Why wear 1 giant belt when you can wear 3 regular belts?

The hidden blades are a staple among assassins. No matter which assassin you meet, their background, walk of life, clothing, or values, not a single one will be without hidden blades. With the original design predating known recorded history at minimum having been used to kill Xerxes 1, the earliest designs triggered on a type of muscle pulse when you flex your arm and thus assassins would have to remove their ring fingers lest they become accidentally cut when activated. Newer designs however allowed the user to use the blade without issue originally designed through Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. I’m certain it really helped people with wedding rings and kept people less conspicuous. There have also been modifications to the blade by many others, one designed for afoot, or another for a trident, and the most recent adjustment being a shock blade. Without a doubt one of the most iconic and oldest weapons ever seen. Really glad they fixed the issue with flexing releasing the blade. Can you imagine shaking someone's hand, flexing a bit too hard, and whoops now you've disarmed them (Dishanded?)

I kind of want to know the assassins training program? If Edward Kenway can be an assassin, I have to have some kind of chance right?

While many believe that the assassins no longer exist, it’s simply not the case! While not clad as impressive armor like this, assassins are still fighting the templars using a new machine known as the animus. Originally designed by the templars, it allows someone to tap into their, or later versions grow others, DNA allowing them to live like their ancestors. This was of course used by templars in order to find the missing pieces of Eden using Desmond Miles to achieve this goal. It wasn’t too long after Desmond would be contacted by the brotherhood and eventually fight the templars somehow getting their hands on a more portable animus. Desmond then began to look for the pieces of Eden in hopes of sabotaging the current templars who grew to massive wealth and power due to connections through thousands of years.

Assassins must have compatitions with one another. I would far rather watch the assassins games over the olympics any day of the week. (No offence)

Despite its massive age, or perhaps because of its age, the brotherhood doesn't have gender issues. One sex is never seen as lesser due to gender but only as experience. In fact, some of the oldest and most powerful, and influential assassins were women. Evie Frye, Kassandra, and Eivor all immediately jump to mind in this aspect. The assassins never played them up as special, or put them down in this case they weren't special as that would say they were an exception to the rule rather than the norm. All the assassins were simply assassins and nothing more. While there were a few who dressed as a male, James Kidd immediately comes to mind, it was a personal choice rather than a brotherhood choice. This marks the assassins as a highly unified group regardless of religion, age, race, or gender; they are all part of the Creed. I’m no skilled feminist writer, but I don’t suppose we can get some of that over here?

If normal people can become assassins, why don't they have assassins stationed in promising lines of work? Like on pirate ships or high guards?

My shot for the best is that of Edward Kenway. For some backstory, Edward was originally a pirate captain until a fateful crash with sir Duncan Walpole. Edward would end up impersonating Duncan in search of greed damn the consequences. Eventually, he rescues who would become his right-hand man as well as many others who he hired on as his crew aboard the nation of Jackdaw. While originally only seeking coins, after realizing the templar final plan, he personally chose to prevent them from doing so albeit to find it first and sell it for a mountain of treasure. Eventually, however, he ends up destroying the machine keeping it from the templars reaching all to protect humanity. He could have chosen countless riches and a spot among the most powerful in the world, but he sabotaged himself for the greater good. He became a full-fledged assassin and even married a woman and fathered a child. His story is unique because he was trained his whole life, hell he was an anti-law pirate the entire time, but when push came to shove he was a good man and eventually even became a master assassin, and then even Leader. Upon seeing others much like he used to be, he helps them simply out of instinct even when it would almost blow his cover. Edward Kenway was a pirate turned one of the most enjoyable and sideways friendly assassins you will ever meet. Just don't have too many valuables when talking to him, yeah?

Assassin's Creed Syndicate offers, both Evie and Jacob 10 additional outfits, aside from their default outfits. These outfits are unlocked by different means and grant you stat boosts and other bonuses as you progress through the game.

Outfits are unlocked as you progress throughout the game, while others are unlockable rewards (like the Suave Outfit) which you get in exchange for the Ubisoft Club credits you earn by doing tasks on the website and completing quests in-game.

The game offers a variety of outfits, unique to each character, since Jacob and Evie are interchangeable, customizable characters- each of your two assassins have unique outfits that each of them can wear along with one accessory; with Jacob’s accessory being; belts and, Evie’s accessory being; capes.

The Belts and Capes that Jacob and Evie can wear as an additional item to their overall outfit offers an increase in Stealth and Defense, while outfits offer a variety of perks depending on which is equipped.

Here, I will run you down on the best five outfits for both characters and how to get them.

Blackguard’s Suit

The outfit of the Blackguard is a melancholy mix of blacks and blues that captures the depth and darkness of a London night. This is one of those outfit styles that will get you through the day without putting you in trouble; it has its advantages and provides a dark look to complement Jacob's terrifying side, which we don't see very often. This costume is ideal for fending off full-fledged enemy attacks, especially during gang battles.

Having Aveline's outfit helps with extra carrying capacity of things and devices. This clothing doesn't seem to fit Evie's aesthetic, but it does have some extremely cool features.

Wearing in the footsteps of legendary Assassin, Edward Kenway, this outfit brings out a very rogue look and feel to it which stands out from the crowd- in having an increase in damage as a bonus with the kukri knife being the most lethal weapon in the game, this outfit is fit for surviving a bloodbath of aggressive combat.

Worn by the Ancients. The Aegis was an ancient armor outfit which allegedly belonged to the Isu scientist -Minerva. Millennia later sometime before the Industrial Revolution in the 1860s, the Assassin Michel Reuge somehow found The Aegis near Bath- Somerset in England and later stored it in an underground vault in London. In 1868, Evie and Jacob Frye gained access to Reuge's vault and Evie claimed the Aegis to her own usage. The best outfit to equip on Evie is The Aegis outfit, it is a beautiful design and offers the most of an all rounding set of skill and defense, apart from the other outfits available, this outfit compliments Evie’s stealth ability the best by adding in an extra boost. When Evie wears the Aegis, the outfit flickers with visible pixel lines like a screen.

The Assassins Creed franchise has certainly earned its name amongst renowned gaming platforms, with Valhalla being the latest in its release. However, looking back at more previous games, like Assassin's Creed Syndicate, is it worth the play?

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is an action-adventure stealth video game. It is the first in the series to allow players to switch between Jacob and Evie Frye, the twin protagonists. It's also the first game in the series to include Evie Frye, who is the first female playable Assassin. Ubisoft developed and launched the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 23, 2015, and for Microsoft Windows on November 19, 2015. It is the Assassin's Creed Series' ninth major game and the sequel to Assassin's Creed Unity, which was released in 2014.When released, Syndicate saw a drop in sales in its first week of release than compared to its second week performance, Ubisoft explained that it could be by what had happened with Assassin's Creed Unity -which was riddled with bugs and other technical issues at its launch, but as this was not the case with Syndicate, which proved to run significantly smoother- sales rebounded by its second week of release. Assassin's Creed Syndicate Story

A gripping tale of heroes in capes set in London during the Industrial Revolution.

Assassin's Creed has always revolved around the battle between the Assassins and the Templars, while the Assassins believe in humanity having free will in living their lives within reason, the Templars believe otherwise, where in- people should be controlled to maintain order. Syndicate sets out during the Victorian Era in London 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. The game follows Twin Assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye as they navigate the alleyways of London's most daunting corridors in order to take back the city from Templar control, Upon learning about the antagonist's - Crawford Starrick's - master plot to take over the world by assigning the Shroud of Eden (an ancient Isu gadget with immortal and regenerative qualities, capable of healing any wound) Before it's too late, Jacob and Evie must halt Starrick and his templar dominance over London.This in with the wider Assassins Creed story of Isu history, that is seen in each game where Assassins and Templars battle it out to attain or keep these precious ancient artifacts from each other, each to serve their own ideas and cause. This makes things interesting especially if you’ve been invested in the story from the first game.

Assassins Creed Syndicate Gameplay

Perform muti-combo attacks on enemeies though main quests and side activities.

Combat your way through the streets roof-tops while performing high stealth missions.

The game is played from a third-person perspective and its open world is navigated on foot or by carriage. It has introduced new traveling systems and refined combat and stealth mechanics. In alignment with historical accuracy, you will meet and come across Charles Darwin, Dickens and Queen Victoria. Players control the two lead protagonists throughout the game's story, switching between them both, during and outside of missions. Syndicate has a classic Assassin’s Creed feeling to it, with an upgrade in parkour in using the Grapple-gun to ascend to roof-tops and glide easily past crowds as a zip-line. With featuring the classic hidden blade, the game is not primarily a shooter though it’s the first to have guns as a major weapon choice in combat, fitting to the theme of early British weaponry in having hand revolvers which serves your primary gun choice. Outside the main objective storyline, players are free to roam the city which is made up of seven districts where they can perform a variety of side missions like; infiltrating through templar controlled factories and participating in fight clubs which are displayed on the map, in aim to fight in breaking Templar influence and power in London. Finishing enough side missions will eventually lead you to a final gang fight between an enemy templar controlled gang, known as ‘The Blighters’, fortunately you won't be in these fights alone as you will recruit and manage your own gang members, known as ‘The Rooks’ and participate in overthrowing their control in the city.

The game follows through a leveling up system which progresses with the main storyline and depending on how much of London you have ‘liberated’ against templar influence you can expect to rank up your abilities and gang.

This was the last installment in the franchise that featured the classic Assassins Creed style and mechanics in combat and leveling up, after Origins and Odyssey followed after. Action is fast-paced and brutal, along with repetition as a downside to it’s combat that combines powerful multi-kills and countermoves.. The game comes with an additional DLC, continuing Jacob’s story in ‘Jack The Ripper’.

Although, after playing the game for a while, I felt that the ordinary presentation of individuals was a little repetitive, and that the game had a long load time in between, it was still a significant improvement over Unity. Apart from that, the game appears to run more smoothly on console devices; however, on PC, crashes (ACS.exe had stopped working) and performance issues such as low FPS or FPS drops, as well as stuttering issues, have been reported; however, these errors can be fixed by fixing the GPU and lag issues by downloading relevant patches applicable to your issue. If you're a recent fan of the Assassin's Creed series or just exploring in 2022, I’d recommend that it is a good game to play if you’re looking for something that has a casual gameplay style.

Pros:

The game pays attention to detail, it's vibrant and compelling to its times with an immersive grounded setting.
Character personalities are unique and draw in the player.
Grapple hook serves as a unique addition to stealth and helps the player navigate and perform assassins easily.
The game brings on a range of weapons which are completely unique to the game.
Shawn and Rebecca return in the modern main story, making things interesting.
Mission rewards are beneficial and serve as items that you can actually use as you progress in the story.

Cons:

There is a lot of repetitiveness in terms of combat and the process of liberating different districts.
The Leveling system constrained gameplay and sometimes made it seem like an RPG game.
This was a missed opportunity to have the London setting as a sequel to Black Flag for playing as Edward Kenway, as he was mentioned in the story.
Compared to other Assassin’s Creed storylines, Syndicate's story was a bit mundane with no major twists.
Minor bug issues may arise.
There was not a lot of character growth for the characters themselves.

Ubisoft Is Taking A Break From Annual Releases For Assassin’s Creed

In February 2016, the video game developing company Ubisoft announced that they would be delaying a new Assassin's’ Creed game this year. Every fall it had been protocol to release a new title to the series but this year they’re shaking things up.

This is the year that broke the six-year streak for Ubisoft’s release of Assassin’s Creed. Ever since 2009, players anticipated a new storyline to follow with every year that went by. The developers believe that an alpha version should be completed one year before release.

For the First Year in Six Years, There Will Be Not Be a New Game To Avoid Disappointment Like Unity

According to Ubisoft’s message released to fans worldwide, it is said that they are basing their suspension on the disappointing release of AC Unity in 2014. Along with a less than desirable outcome with Unity, a buggy release of Syndicate in 2015 also proved it was time for change of procedure.

Feedback from gamers and fans poured in. So although Ubisoft was nine games into the game starting from 2007, they listened to the voices of their supporters and took action to be proactive. Instead of consistently spitting out new content as before, they will be going a different route to ensure a release of a first-grade, superior game that doesn’t compare to previous titles.

The way they figured this could be accomplished was to take a break. They want to improve all aspects of an alpha game in the works so that it will be a massively anticipated game. In order to wow and impress many long-time gamers and new audiences, one must invest more time and energy into said game.

This new route may become a new trend for the team at Ubisoft, if taking the time to fine-tune each aspect turns out to yield exceptional results.

Will We See A New Assassin’s Creed Game In 2017?

Sources still have not confirmed whether or not we will actually see a new game in 2017. With mixed information and leaked news, it is still in the air whether we will have a new Assassin’s Creed game to play in the upcoming year.

What we do know from said leaks and various informants is that the game is supposedly set in Egypt. The code name for the next game is called Empire.

Despite the possibility of not seeing a new game release, there are other options to hold Assassin Creed aficionados over. Sidescroller games and even a movie will be available for those who need their fix while they wait for a new game to come out.

It has been speculated that the producers of the movie are happy because that’s one less distraction in their way. It works out greatly for views and marketing of the movie release. Many would rush to see the movie because they didn’t get a game.

Although there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016 and possibly not even in 2017, there will be other releases available. An Assassin’s Creed movie, some sidescroller games, and the Ezio collection are just some examples. The game developers decided that this is the best course of action to create the utmost anticipated game.

In around four months, we will see Assassin’s Creed Syndicate hitting the shelves of your favorite game store. The game developers roll out information regularly, making people excited about the features that will accompany the new era Syndicate will be situated in.

With the Syndicate hype still going, here are 5 major things that you’ll enjoy about the new title’s gameplay:

1. Smoother Stealth

Syndicate’s predecessors require constant hiding in the shadows when following an enemy’s tracks. While this was fun because that’s what assassins usually do, it got old sometimes due to the repetitive use of the said mechanic.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s gameplay mechanics changed so players can enjoy the quick switch from navigation to stealth mode on-the-fly, making the assassin’s movement more natural; this comes in tandem with the updated setting of the game – 1868 London is packed with people in every location so constantly hiding behind walls would make you look suspicious to the public eye.

Reducing the number of threaths increases the chances of a successful rescue.

Jacob Frye, one of the game’s main assassins, is charismatic and a little sociable rather than cutthroat scary; hiding his identity is not needed in the upcoming installment. From here on out, sneaking around might be more effective in most cases. This provides a more realistic gameplay for Jacob is not limited to just hiding from targets before he strikes.

In addition to the easier transition from free-roam to stealth, you can now play with your enemies using a whistle, a new tool in your assassination career. You can lure them to your location immediately, effectively reducing your time waiting, hidden behind walls. This will give you a chance to sneak around and kill them or escape quickly while they’re checking your previous location.

2. Transportation

The game’s London covers seven locations, making the open world too big to explore on foot. Vehicles make travelling easier while providing utility to the assassin-on-duty. Horse carriages are present in almost any location for faster travel from one borough to another – if you successfully steal one, that is.

While this is the most obvious use of the said vehicle, there are other ways to exploit the horse cart to your advantage.

These can be used as hiding places to prepare a surprise attack or evade your enemies. Crashing these vehicles can cause chaos in the vicinity for the police to check, the diversion helpful when you need the public to stay focused on one thing as you complete your objectives.

If you're running late, snatch a cart.

A head-on collision with another carriage or a streetlamp can send you flying forward, leaving a mess that law enforcers will investigate soon after and giving you enough time to escape. You can even hit-and-run people who are blocking your way as you speed through the streets.

There will be steamboats and trains to be available in the official release but the developer has not revealed any mechanics for these vehicles yet.

3. Two Main Characters

Assassin’s Creed titles usually feature a single main character. For the first time, the game franchise will showcase two main characters, letting the players tackle the storyline and gameplay in two different perspectives.

Meet Jacob and Evie Frye, assassin twins who will lead the London underground into a revolution to free the masses from the cruel rule of the elite and Templars. The two characters will have unique skill trees and story routes, thus choosing one over the other will give a different gaming experience.

Jacob is the leader-type, heading straight into the fight rather than waiting for the most appropriate time to strike. Equipped with his signature brass knuckles, he charges forward, engaging in melee combat more often than not. Despite his tendency to get tangled into crowd fights, his skills still prove lethal if players opt to make use of his assassin moves.

On the other hand, Evie is more of a tactician, focusing on her stealth moves and wits instead of blindly walking into a fight which she probably can’t win with plain strength alone. It may seem that she might be more like traditional assassin, calculating the odds while stalking the target before smoothly executing her plans. While there are no details yet about her skills or abilities, we will see more of the female Frye in the future updates.

4. Gang Wars

Let's rock.

Assassination mainly deals with shutting down targets one by one without getting noticed. However, due to the nature of 1868 London, head-on confrontations are to be expected. The twins are members of an underground gang that aims to unite the working class and ultimately fight the governing elitists which may be under the Templar’s control.

This means Jacob and Evie will be seen in a lot of mob fights, whether to defend their turf or establish control over a certain region, and engaging other gangs and groups who enforce the rule that ties the lower classes down.

Similar to single-target assassinations, gang wars are pretty straightforward; eliminate everyone in the way, just more chaotic.

And it’s easier said than done.

This fight doesn't need a referee.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate rolls out a faster combat pace and a smarter enemy AI to make things interesting or frustrating; the mob seems to ‘think’ as you engage them, some would call reinforcements once they see you dishing out punches, others could team up on you if they feel that they can’t take you down single-handedly.

Enemies during gang wars will be scattered throughout the location, with your loyal followers picking their own targets as you seek out the mob’s leader. However, that does not mean that your enemies will ignore you; the group may focus on you instead if you go straight to your main target without defeating the underlings first.

With these things in mind, players are bound to think how to take control of the situation so as not to leave the main characters vulnerable as they hack through the crowd.

As players get deeper into the game, the gang fights will become tougher without enough people backing Jacob up. To counter this, Jacob’s charismatic persona can be used to recruit people to join his gang’s cause, widen his circle of influence in the city, increase manpower and provide better chances of winning a gang war.

With this new mode of combat, players see how they fare once they crawl out of the shadows and dive into the fray.

5. New Weapons

The Assassin's Gauntlet just got better with a hallucinogenic dart holder and an intriguing rope launcher.

The trademark gauntlet with its hidden blade has made its way to all of the main titles of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. With the transition of the game from medieval era to the modern age, an update to the assassin’s equipment is much appreciated; weapons that can be easily hidden under one’s coat is crucial since carrying an obvious weapon in broad daylight could turn into an immediate police arrest.

Melee weapons provide better odds of silencing the enemy at a close range, and these can be drawn easily when needed despite being hidden perfectly.

The curved kukri, with its rather intriguing shape, makes it easy to cut through flesh and bone should an enemy get too close. A sword disguised as a fashionable cane is a good way to carry an edged weapon anywhere; Jacob can just draw the blade for the kill and quickly sheathe it as he walks away from a scene as if nothing happened. When fights get a little rowdy, players can throw jaw-breaking punches with a pair of brass knuckles.

Ranged weapons give the opportunity to assassinate a target from afar while preventing as much enemy contact as possible, although some provide more utility rather than killing potential.

Russian roulette, anyone?

These include revolvers which can devastate enemies whether from a distance or up close – especially when Jacob fires the gun to a person’s head after dealing a flurry of punches.

Can you dodge this?

Throwing knives are mainly used to silently eliminate targets from a distance. These can also cut ropes that hold cargo or barrels to squash enemies underneath or inflict burns when flicked to a fire.

The cloud bestows a nightmare to your enemies in a quick flick.

Hallucinogenic darts deter enemy attacks by turning the targets against their own mates, and it can be used for crowd control by sending a dart to a fire to release smoke that induces the same hallucinating effect over a wide area.

Don't try this at home.

While not considered as a weapon, a rope launcher makes itself useful in an assassin’s arsenal by presenting safer means to handle walls and high falls. It also creates a neat zipline for traveling London’s rooftops or setting up an aerial assassination tactic – Jacob zips along the rope, spots an enemy below him, and finally drops off the line for the kill.

The roster of weaponry seems a little unfit for an assassin, but this only leaves the players with more options to execute their targets, with or without stealth.

There are a lot of things to enjoy about Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s gameplay mechanics, some of which we had already seen in the recent updates. We expect to hear more about the game in the coming months.

The beauty of London was just a mask, covering its gruesome insides.

The Industrial Revolution brought a golden age when technology improved the standard of living. Ironically, only those who didn’t work for it reaped most of its benefits.

Nobility earned a living from the working class; the latter exposed to harsh labor, leaving the ones in the higher ranks profiting from it. With daily work almost synonymous to legalized slavery, people became painfully aware of the situation, yet they were unable to successfully speak their minds.

Is there a way to wake up from this nightmare?

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate offers the signature assassination techniques common in the previous titles with new characters and features that blend well with modern atmosphere of Victorian London. Here are 7 new things to know about the upcoming game:

The Modern Era

New world, new life.

The Assassin’s Creed games were commonly set in the medieval times. In Syndicate, the game world is closer to the modern day era. Situated in 1868 London, the rise of industrialization drives the storyline.

Major conflicts had already been concluded; it was a relatively peaceful time in history when people started to rebuild and improve their way of life several years past the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars.

This time, the game shifts from the old-fashioned cityscape to a modern, industrialized setting: tall buildings and brick roads replacing castle forts and cobblestone walkways, modes of transport being readily available, and switching from almost barren villages to livelier, busier streets full of people. Victorian London presents a more dynamic, fast-paced background that has not been used in the former titles.

New Characters

For the first time in the main series, a female main character will become playable.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate features Jacob and Evie Frye, twins coming from the lower class of London’s society. They mastered assassination techniques that could help them lead the change in the underground world of 1868 London. The two characters have unique skill trees, and they will explore the story in different perspectives.

Jacob Frye is the brash, hot-headed one who prefers taking the initiative. His melee combos prove effective in scenarios requiring players to get up close and personal. Despite his efficiency in direct combat; his assassin training assures that he can execute an enemy with ease and without detection.

Evie Frye takes a more subtle approach using her mastery in stealth and tactical decision-making. She could be the cunning one, using her wits and map awareness to shut down her targets instead of joining the bloody fight. While there’s no information yet about Evie’s combat techniques and abilities, we expect to hear more during the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate European Tour on June 16-18 this year.

Transportation

When will the next train arrive?

Traveling the seven boroughs of Syndicate’s London can be troublesome; it will take too much time. As this new reality sinks in, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s gameplay introduces the use of transportation.

Think you can outrun me?

Horse carriages allow you to travel farther and faster – as long as you successfully steal the said ride from its driver.

Carriages use real-world physics; they shake a lot on bumpy roads, and you might end up toppling over if you make a sharp turn while moving too fast. Due to these mechanics, you can use the horse carts for different purposes like intentionally crashing it against another object to send Jacob flying – consider it as an offensive move when you dive-bomb into a fight, or an escape tactic when you grab a ledge and jump over, getting away from the scene.

These vehicles can sustain damage and get ultimately destroyed; you could probably get yourself killed if you’re not very careful. In addition, the carriage can be used as a hiding spot for stealth kills or evading your enemies.

You won't get a violation ticket for this...maybe.

When there’s transportation, there must be traffic rules.

Stealing a carriage already warrants you a bad record if you get caught. You are expected to use the left side of the street when ‘driving’; see the police question you should you choose to use the other lane. Making a carriage crash incident can keep the law enforcers busy as they investigate the ‘accident’ site – such diversion offers Jacob an opportunity to escape or do other things for a short time without the police following his tail.

Other modes of transport such as steamboats and trains will make its way to the game, although there is no official information about the mechanics yet.

Stealth Reinvented

A quick, painless death awaits.

Stealth contributes to the majority of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s gameplay mechanics; creeping behind the enemy before slitting their throats or plunging a dagger through their necks, or moving from one location to another without being noticed.

In this game’s version of London, it might not be applicable at all times. There will be lots of people on the streets and in other locations, making stealth techniques of the previous titles a little awkward to use. Hiding Jacob’s identity won’t be needed this time around.

The previous titles use the ‘hard snap’ stealth mechanic. You are forced to find and camp behind rocks, walls and bushes for extended periods, waiting for the right chance to strike. If you’re familiar with the old game Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, you’ll probably get what I mean.

Syndicate will now use ‘soft snap’ stealth typical of modern games, giving players the freedom to switch from navigation to stealth mode with a quick keystroke, thus allowing smoother and more natural movement.

Imagine sneaking with several people near you.

The easy transition allows you to make use of the environment in any way possible to approach the enemy without waiting too much in the shadows. Sneaking and outsmarting the enemy seems to be the way to go.

You can bait your enemies by getting yourself seen for a bit, running for a while, take a sharp turn, then silently jumping over a wall to go around them as they try to follow your tracks, then stabbing them from behind while they’re busy discussing where you probably went. There are other ways to do it, and a simple yet effective item makes it easier to do so.

You have the right to remain silent - forever.

Along with the changes in stealth, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate gives the main character a whistle, its sound luring any opponents from nearby areas. This gives you the option to deal with them immediately, or quickly flee from your current place, fooling them to check out your previous location as you run away.

New Weapons

It's the Swiss knife of a modern-day Assassin.

It would be a hard task blending in the public if you have a naked blade in your hand as you walk on the streets. The police of 1868 London would arrest you on the spot once they notice that you carry a sharp weapon in broad daylight.

Hidden weapons provide the benefit of staying alert to kill or defend yourself at all times without getting the attention of law enforcers on the city streets.

The Assassin’s trademark gauntlet returns, housing a hidden blade for general assassination procedures like silently slitting necks or stabbing backs. While this would be enough for the routine assassin work, the shift to the modern era presents a collection of up-to-date weapons to help you do your tasks efficiently and provide you a fighting chance should you face an opponent head-on.

Slice n' dice. Fling to the enemy's head for added effect.

Melee weapons shine in close-quarters combat. The Nepalese kukri (although some English-speakers refer to it as a Gurkha knife) is a small blade with a unique curved shape. This gives a nice balance in blade-handling, making Jacob swing the kukri with ease, hacking through the enemies’ bone and flesh.

Deadly meets fashionable in one neat package.

A cane sword makes its way to the collection; not only that walking canes are considered a trend during that time, it’s a good way to avert unnecessary attention by disguising a deadly blade as a fashion item. When unsheathed, the sword can be used for slashing and thrusting.

Jawbreaker - in a literal sense.

Jacob is one hot-headed brawler; a pair of brass knuckles makes sure that his punches can crack someone’s jaw, crucial in situations where drawing a blade or a gun would rouse too much attention.

Eat lead.

Ranged weapons offer good utility. Revolvers can be easily hidden under one’s coat, making a quick draw deadly from afar, even deadlier when shot at point blank range as a combo finisher.

Ninjas are not the only ones licensed to wield these.

Throwing knives prove useful in carefully-planned one hit, long-range assassinations. These can cut ropes that hold cargo or barrels, effectively taking down the targets below or drawing a commotion thanks to the noise and mess it would make. The knives can be used to inflict burns too by flinging them at fire source.

This will keep them high for a while.

While drug-tipped darts cannot poison someone to death, these induce hallucinations to its victims, making the enemies attack their own team mates. Want more chaos? Flick a dart to a fire and unleash a cloud of mind-bending smoke for a widespread hallucination effect.

Jacob doesn't need a bat suit.

A rope launcher is something new to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The rooftops of London are higher compared to the previous titles, so a parkour slip could mean instant death. Here’s where the launcher becomes useful. Please keep in mind that Jacob is not Batman, however.

It is mainly used for climbing and securing a safer trip down a wall or building when simply jumping can lead to fatal results. The tool also allows you to move quickly from building to building by creating a makeshift zipline. Not only does it provide faster movement from roof to roof, it can also be a perfect setup for aerial assassinations when enemies are just below the zipline.

Interestingly, the hook attaches to any surface and the any rope setup will hold your weight each and every time. The launcher is always ready too; you can use it in rapid succession without bothering to retrieve the hooked end. That’s probably the most high-tech piece of gadget in the era, don’t you think?

Combat

It's gonna hurt.

Former titles tell players to avoid enemy detection as much as possible since being noticed might cause your mission to fail and fighting a number of reinforcements can overwhelm you since assassins usually work alone.

However, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s gameplay brings the inevitability of engaging into face-to-face combat. In cases that your stealth maneuver didn’t work or you’re confronting an enemy leader, you definitely need to abandon stealth and fight it out.

Jacob excels in melee combat, equipping his brass knuckles for good measure. He can deliver punishing blows and combos to his opponent before ending it with a straight hook or a gunshot, perform evasive moves especially when he faces someone armed with an edged weapon, and intelligently relocate within the fight so his reinforcements can aid him if possible.

Fights become more realistic too; when Jacob alone is facing a group, all of the enemies may attack at the same time, unlike the former games where the AI can be a little dumb and take turns in the assault.

One down, more to go.

Gang fights is a new feature included in the upcoming title. Jacob is a leader of a gang himself, and you will be able to recruit followers who will join you in such mob fights later in the game. In this situation, crowd control tactics fare better since taking out enemies one by one could leave you open to consecutive attacks.

Gaining control of the crowd would be the best option to take: using diversions such as explosions, using hallucinogenic smoke to stir confusion, or stunning them to buy time for a counterattack.

There would be more to see when the playable demo would be accessible at the European tour this June.

Questing Revamp

Side quests in most games are usually used to give a little more understanding about its characters, show scenarios that are related but not really essential to the main story, or provide the player some EXP for levelling up or some game currency for shopping.

Stronghold secured.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate begs to differ. The developers stated that the main story quests and the side quests will merge as one as you play Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, making the two categories join together smoothly without leaving the players thinking that a side quest has nothing to do with the main game. Quest outcomes and actions taken will affect future game scenarios; every choice a player picks will make an impact on how the story unfolds.

It seems that there could be several ending scenarios in the game, and going through a main-quest only route might have a different result compared to getting a 100% completion rating.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate preserves most of the features that came from its former titles like stealth kills and general parkour movements. With the addition of a bigger game world, remade stealth mechanics, mob assaults, transportation, and two main characters, this upcoming title might be worthy of a pre-order.
