Arma 3 is a realism-based and open-world military tactical shooter published by Bohemia Interactive. Although the game is quite realistic, there are mods out there that will improve the immersion or the playtime quality; or will simply change the game into a whole different universe. You wouldn’t believe how much the community works to improve this game, and you should try the content they bring out.

That being said, this is the list of mods that I believe will give the best playing experience:

25. CBA_A3

CBA_A3 (Community Based Addons) is a mod created for mission designers and addon-makers. It compiles a large number of features to improve the game's performance, scalability and localization.

Many mods or fixes are being created via CBA as it allows the users to easily modify the UI, create events and keybinds for new animations the content creators bring into the game.

So if you are a mission designer, an addon-maker or a mod user you should have this on your list.

24. BettIR

Difference between Default and BettIR

Do you like night ops? Do you feel excited when you are in a special forces operation at night, using night vision goggles? Well, I do, and I love the visuals of night goggles and how thrilling it can be at close combat in the dark. But the Arma 3 default goggles don’t feel realistic or enough.

With BettIR you will see much better visuals and in more detail. You will easily see the difference in the image how much it changes the game.

23. Advanced Rappelling

Introduction to Advanced Rappeling

Advanced rappelling is another very basic mod, but very useful for immersion. Arma 3 does not have a rappelling from a heli feature and this mod fills that gap. If you would like to quickly deploy with a heli, but cannot land due to obstacles, you can now rappel down as the soldiers would do.

A very small mod, but useful tool, another tool that you should keep on your toolbelt.

22. Enhanced Movement

A soldier who goes through training every day should be able to climb walls or jump over obstacles, right? Or we would call them lazy.

This is exactly what this mod is for. Arma 3 doesn’t have a feature allowing you to climb walls, jump over obstacles or jump out of windows. Enhanced movement allows you to do all of these, allowing you to choose a better route and flank that enemy machine gun aiming at the gate.

And since this mod adds immersion to your gameplay and changes the accessibility, all Arma 3 players should have this in my opinion.

21. ACE3 (Advanced Combat Environment)

This mod brings in a new interaction system and new mechanics to the game to improve your realistic experience. As well as it improves the game performance on your PC, it also gives you advanced and improved medical, explosives, captivity and weather systems.

You have no idea how much detail there is in this mod. All rocket launchers now have a backblast, causing damage to anybody who stays behind it. You will slowly go deaf from shooting an LMG for a while without earplugs. Once shot, you will have to find your bleeding body part and bandage that specific area with the correct type of bandage.

It also has a lot more additional features that you will love and is definitely a game-changer mod, therefore it is a must have for those who are seeking improved quality playtime.

20. Enhanced Map

Difference between Vanilla and Enhanced

Created by the user named Hoplite, Enhanced Map is more of a visual improvement than a realistic improvement. It modifies the maps to be more readable with its clearer topographical features and enhanced colours.

You will notice the difference from the picture above, and it is much easier to see the highways and terrain in the enhanced version. Especially if you're a pilot, get this mod to make your gameplay much easier.

19. There is Only War

There is Only War Trailer

Are you a fan of the Warhammer 40K series? Well then, this is a perfect mod for you.

There is Only War is the Warhammer 40K asset mod, and contains 3 maps; units and vehicles from Tau Empire, Chaos, Goblins, Space Marines and Imperial Forces.

Although the assets are not too detailed, you can still feel like an Imperial trooper fighting for the Emperor with this mod and any Warhammer 40K fan should try this mod out to see what it would be like realistically.

18. JSRS

JSRS Trailer

JSRS is a sound mod that will change the game soundscape and make the game sounds more immersive. The default explosions or weapon firing might make it sound boring, or repetitive and JSRS tweaks the sounds to be a more movie-like soundscape, giving you the feeling of being on a real battlefield.

I would definitely give it a try as realism and immersion make this game better.

17. Advanced Towing

Introduction to Advanced Towing

Although it is a basic mod, advanced towing is a very useful mod. As you will understand from the name, it allows you to tow multiple vehicles and take them away. It’s very good in survival and “Invade and Annex” servers, and is supported in both MP and SP.

While going in a convoy, your vehicle takes a hit, and now the engine is incapacitated. Why abandon the vehicle while you can take it back to base and repair it. Or you get stuck on a hill and can’t move, just call for another call to tow you to rescue you.

Although you might think you will never use it, it’s always handy to carry a tow cable.

16. RHS

RHS: United States Armed Forces Trailer

RHS is another large mod that brings new and realistic modern-era military assets to your games. RHS has published four different mods for four different factions. These are as below:

RHSUSAF is the United States Armed Forces mod pack and it focuses on the USA military equipment from 2010 to the present date. It contains dozens of vehicles, units and weapons, modeled and textured with the finest details and features.
RHSAFRF is the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation mod pack and it focuses on the Russian military equipment from the mid 2000’s to the present date. As the USA mod pack, it contains dozens of vehicles, units and weapons with the finest details and features.
RHSGREF is the Green Forces mod pack and focuses on various independent fictional and real factions that fall outside the scope of USAF and AFRF. It contains accurate uniforms for units, new custom vehicles and tons of new weapons for the green faction. This mod requires both USAF and AFRF mods.
RHSSAF is the Serbian Armed Forces mod pack and focuses on the realistic modern Serbian Army Equipment and uniforms. It contains uniforms, vehicles and weapons that represent the Serbian Armed Forces.

If you want to have a war in the modern era, these mods are the ones to have to get the best visual and realism in Arma 3.

15. EPOCH

Epoch Mod Trailer

The Epoch mod is a game mode where you have to survive by scavenging, building bases and exploring the empty world that went through extinction.

The Epoch mod explanation is as follows:

Epoch is set just two years after a massive worldwide extinction. The exact cause is unknown and the only people left are clones with no memory of the past. Documents found in the world tell us that before the mass extinction event, The largest technology corporation had made great breakthroughs. This technology changed the world in many ways and is thought to be the cause of the extinction. Those that remain are left with remnants of a once technological society. Try to survive, build, or explore your way through the harsh dynamic environment.

What does this mean?

You will spawn in an empty world with a few other players and AI missions and you have to wander around the map to find food, water, building supplies, weapons, ammunition and clothes or do AI missions around the map. But beware; other players might not be friendly and might want to steal your resources. And let’s not forget the hostile AI antagonists wandering around.

Will you be able to survive this chaos and become a strong man in this world? Why not go ahead and try it for yourself?

14. TFAR

Task Force Arrowhead Radio "Official Manual"

Task Force Arrowhead Radio is a mod that will bring ingame realism to the next step. TFAR is an integration with TeamSpeak and allows the players in a server to radio in other players around the map like a real radio would.

Once you load into a server, you pick a radio and set up the frequency. Once on the right frequency with your team, you can start chatting and team playing. TFAR makes it even more realistic by creating a range for the radios, so the further you are, the less clear the message will be. Radios can also be jammed, and that can change the fate of the battle.

13. UNSUNG

Unsung Vietnam - Arma 3 - Bravo Release Trailer

Unsung is another huge mod that brings the Vietnam War to your doorstep. This is a full conversion mod for Arma 3, that is featuring 12 maps, 12 factions, 130 weapons, 1000 uniforms, 11 tanks, 20 trucks, 16 jets, 15 helicopters, 20 traps, 20 static weapons, Vietnam era music and radio, a fantastic Vietnam War atmosphere and intense jungle combat.

With these detailed and unique assets, you can relive the time era between 1955 to 1975 and see what it is like to fight in dense jungles.

The mod is 14GB, which is a lot of space for a mod, but it is worth trying it. I personally love flying the “Huey” helicopters; and if you are a Vietnam War fan, you will love this mod.

12. Star Wars Opposition

Join the battalions of clone troopers in the Galactic Republic, or fight for the Galactic Empire as a stormtrooper, or maybe fight for freedom under the Rebellion as a rebel. Maybe you will just be a bounty hunter and hunt bounties around the open world.

Star Wars Opposition is a huge mod that allows you to convert your Arma 3 experience into a Star Wars realism simulator. It contains a large variety of models, weapons, ships and vehicles and maps from all Star Wars episodes.

So if you would like to be in the Star Wars universe, this is a mod that I would greatly advise you to download.

11. Dynamic Universal War System

Introduction to DUWS

DUWS is a mod that procedurally generates a mini campaign. DUWS is supported both on SP and MP, allowing you to directly jump into a random campaign without having to create a campaign from scratch, or modify a map through the editor.

DUWS has many features, and here is a short list of them:

You can play as a lone wolf, or a squad or manage several squads to take back the map.
Unlock new abilities as you progress.
Every location on the map is randomly generated.
Random side missions are generated.
Several support options can be unlocked. (UAV, Arty, VAS and more)
Dynamic Weather
And several other features…

So if you directly want to jump into action; solo or with friends, this is a perfect mod to generate your map.

10. Zombies and Demons

This mod is a basic mod that allows you to place and play zombies and demons with custom animations. They can be placed via the mission editor and they will attack anybody except their own faction. So if they are placed under Bluefor, they will attack Opfor and Independent)

It is a great mod for survival campaigns and content creators, allowing the mission editor to send waves of zombies for players or AI to defend. All zombie and demon attributes can be customized; such as damage, health and more.

9. TITUS

Showcase of Titus

TITUS is a military troop transport that is served in 3 different versions. Unarmed, armed and police versions can be found in the mod.

Each version has multiple colourings, a working GPS; and a beautiful, detailed interior. There are working mirrors and cameras on board, and the doors or hatches are animated. And lastly, there is a UAV terminal for the commander seat on the vehicle.

This is a very cool mod; and honestly, I love to have this vehicle in my collection. Although there are APCs that allow you to carry troops, this vehicle gives a different feeling for transportation.

8. PlayerUnknown’s Battle Royale

Similar to the game PUBG, PlayerUnknown’s Battle Royale is a mod that forces the player to fight to the death with the equipment found on the map. There can only be one winner, so gear up fast and start killing everyone!

Although I haven’t had the chance to test this mod, many Arma 3 players love this mod, and if you like Battle Royale games, you should try this out.

7. Breaking Point

Breaking Point is a Zombie Survival Mod, focusing on PVP with some PVE elements, using the Arma 3 engine. Similar to the Epoch mod; you wander around the world full of zombies, searching for resources such as food, ammo, building supplies and trying to stay alive by fighting against zombies and other players.

This mod contains modern and historic weapons, vehicles and events such as heli crashes and supply drops that will give you new weapons or a large number of resources for your survival.

Iron Front is a mod that brings the World War II Eastern Front into life in Arma 3. This mod contains five maps; a large variety of very high quality and historically accurate units, weapons and vehicles; a german and russian singleplayer campaign and advanced gameplay features.

If you want to spend your time in a realistic 2nd World War era, you should download this mod and play the singleplayer campaign. There are also online servers that allow you to play in a team.

Honestly, this is an impressive mod, allowing you to drive historic tanks and fly planes with visuals of old towns and detailed terrains which is a 5-star rating.

3. OPERATION: TREBUCHET

Would you like to join the UNSC and fly a pelican? Or are you here to drive the Scorpion tank? Either way, you are in the right place!

OPTRE is a mod that allows you to become an UNSC trooper with the armor and weapons provided and use Halo assets such as the Pelican gunship or the Warthog vehicle around maps in Arma 3. I can guarantee you, if you are a Halo fan, you will love this mod. In case you want to be the main hero of the Halo universe in the game, you can use the Master Chief model to become one.

With all of this being said, there is one missing thing. Unfortunately, there are no Covenant units in this mod, and you will have to improvise to create an OPFOR team. But do not worry, they have brought out a mod named Operation: Trebuchet First Contact for this reason which brings in Covenant assets.

With the amazing visuals and the environment change, I personally love to have this mod. Just being able to fly the pelican gives me joy.

2. Hebontes Military Training Ground

Our next entry is a map. But not an ordinary map. This is a realistic map where you have many areas for training; a runway for aircraft take-off and landing, a harbor for ships and firing ranges for snipers, grenades, automatic rifles, tanks, and artillery.

This is an amazing map with the scenery, hills, harbor, towns and signs. This map even has its own history.

STORY OF HEBONTES

In 1957, the Republic of Altis and Stratis was in need of a dedicated training ground for their recently deployed forces, the AAF. Since the island of Hebontes was nearby and only populated by a handful of fishermen, the decision finally has been made to resettle the population of Hebontes to Altis and Stratis. After 60% of Hebontes population had been resettled, the transformation began. Shooting ranges were built, a training camp was established and the "Hebontes Command and Control" began their service in 1970.

In 1981, the first NATO Forces, especially the USA, Germany and France deployed battalions for training aside from the AAF.

During the Civil War, Hebontes was used as a headquarter as well as a hub for resupply and reorganization.

So if you need a map for training, and you want a large open area with good visuals, download this map and test it.

13. BAPHOMET

Playthrough of Baphomet

Baphomet is a different co-op mission. With a maximum of 4 players, this mission is a little more thrilling, so gather your team to dive into some strange events.

A portal to hell has opened on Earth. Sun’s light has been absent since that day and the human race is dying. The only hope left is you, the Knights Templar which is a tactical group of holy warriors fighting for the cross.

It is time to destroy those zombies and demons. If you love the concept, you will love the mission as well.

12. A LONG WAY

A Long Way is a more basic mission with multiple objectives around the map. This mission can be played as singleplayer or 2-4 player co-op. The weather and time can be set up with parameters.

The objectives are:

Eliminate Karim Yamala
Destroy enemy AA for local army
Find and secure intel

Target positions, enemy loadout and spawns are random each time, so you cannot experience the same gameplay. If you just want to jump in action without much of a storyline, try this mission.

11. TILL THE END

You and your team are on the way back home from a data securing mission. Then something terrible happens.

Now you have new objectives with lots of enemies around you. Objectives are:

10. Into the Fog

Into the Fog is an early morning operation played by up to 4 players, so wear your night vision goggles.

Rebels have ambushed a Nato convoy, killing 4 personnel and stealing weapons onboard. You are tasked to eliminate the weapons and the person responsible for the ambush. Once the task is complete you will be extracted.

This is a short mission with low light conditions, but it is a pretty good one.

9. Strike Back

Strike back is a large co-op mission with up to 10+2 players.

There is a hostage situation and it is your job to find and rescue the hostages. You have access to a transport helicopter, munitions and artillery. You get to plan how to go in and what to do.

This is an amazing mission for a group of friends, allowing you to plan and gear up accordingly.

8. LIGHTS OUT

Playthrough of Lights Out

Lights out is a night operation, preferred to be played with 3 or 4 players.

Human intelligence has confirmed Abdul-Khaliq Zahir Abdallahs location at Galati. The compound is heavily guarded, and the village has hostiles occupied, therefore an enemy QRF is to be expected. Go in there and eliminate the target.

I love the mission as you can play in pitch blackness, just don’t forget to destroy the transformer.

7. Operation Vulture

A joint SAS/SBS strike team is infiltrating rebel-held Thirsk to reach a crashed NATO plane. The rebels are searching the crash site and surrounding forest for survivors. You have to get there before the rebels do.

The operation is created to be played with 2 teams, which means 10 players. The lower the number of players, the harder the mission will be.

I like snowy maps and infiltration missions, and I am pretty sure you will like this mission as well.

6. Operation Black Dagger

Operation Black Dagger is another infiltration mission. You are tasked to destroy the enemy AA tank and radar station so the NATO forces can attack in a large force

This is a 4 player mission. The only issue is it is in German. Otherwise, this is another amazing mission.

5. LIKE a GHOST

Like a Ghost is a 2 player mission with an approximate playtime of 1 hour.

You are an undercover agent with multiple tasks:

This is another interesting mission type. There is no story or objective list here. 3 words: “Build - Defend - Survive”.

You start in a random town with no equipment. You will have to quickly find a weapon and other loot to defend yourself against ever increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Killing enemies will earn you points. Spend your points on structures to build your bulwark or purchase Supports such as Airstrikes to defend your Bulwark and survive the unending hordes of hostiles.

This is a perfect mission to spend time with your friends, to progress and achieve higher horde levels. It reminds me of COD zombie waves.

1. Dynamic Recon Ops

Dynamic Recon Ops is a randomized, replayable scenario that generates an enemy occupied AO with a selection of tasks to complete within. Select your AO location, the factions you want to use and any supports available or leave them all randomized and see what mission you are sent on.

DRO supports many players on one mission and can be played on many different maps. You can see the map list in the download link.

DRO is one of the best mission creators and is loved by the community. You should have it on your list.

Welcome back, dear readers. I hope you liked our last Arma 3 mods, but hold on, now we are back with a new list; the top 15 Arma 3 scenarios. This is for you lot who loves to play for objectives and play along with a storyline in singleplayer or co-op.

The scenarios in this list do vary from civilian to military, from flying to swimming, and from running away to attacking. As we try to show the best mods for you, we also try to make each scenario as different as possible. Don’t forget these mods might have other mod dependencies.

15. On the other side [SP]

CSAT has been attacking the AAF/NATO airbase. This is an infiltration mission to eliminate the enemy artillery for the upcoming NATO counterattack.

This is a basic and short scenario, but it is satisfying to fly in, destroy that artillery and finish the storyline. It’s a good scenario to start. Requires no addons.

14. Ground Attack

This is a very basic helicopter scenario. The mission is to take out the enemy convoy moving on the map with your armed littlebird.

Though this does not seem like a full mission, it is a great start for attack chopper training and for a short scenario in case you do not want to spend a long time ingame.

13. LIBERTY [SP]

Playthrough of the scenario Liberty

Liberty is a singleplayer only mission that occurs on the ship USS Liberty. CSAT has attacked the coalition forces and has managed to damage two ships, sinking one of them. As a soldier you are tasked to clear the ship you are on, and then dive in the water to retrieve confidential documents from the sunken ship.

As stated above, you are on a ship, and therefore the mission is CQC based. It feels amazing to navigate through a US ship, checking corners and eliminating enemies. At the very end, you gear up to dive, which is a completely different experience, especially if you have never dived before.

French, English and Spanish are supported.

12. ACT OF VALOR [SP]

Playthrough of Act of Valor

Act Of Valor mission has been created with inspiration from the Act Of Valor (2012) movie. As a Seal Team 7 member, you are deployed into the jungle swamp of Costa Rica to rescue a CIA agent captured by smugglers.

Although it seems like a casual operation, the halo jump and crawling through the night changes the experience a lot, giving you an impressive sight.

11. Hunter Six - Special Operations Unit

Hunter six is a mission creator, creating random intel locations and enemies around Altis. The objective is to find the intel on hostages around the map and rescue them. Since the missions spawn randomly, every time you repeat this mission you will gain a new experience.

There is not a specific storyline; but there is a concept and every time you play this mission you will have new routes, new approaches and new locations. This is a ready to go mission that you should keep on the corner.

10. Operation Scar [SP]

In Operation Scar you are a special forces unit parachuting in from the skies of Stratis in the night to eliminate and destroy the enemy radio tower. It is an immersive mission that can have multiple endings.

Sounds like an easy mission? To be honest it can be easy if you know what you are doing. I suggest you to play this mission and see how you do.

9. Sniper Valley

Sniper Valley is one of the best and easy mods here on the list. Your job is to spot and eliminate enemy snipers lurking in the shadows and getting to your objectives. Once the mission is over you will call in for an extraction.

This mission is quite basic and easy, spot enemy snipers and shoot them. There are no mod requirements, just download and play. I love playing as a sniper; spotting, getting the range and taking down enemies is just for me. Hope you’ll love it as well.

8. The BUNKER

7. Warpath [SP]

Warpath is an interesting scenario. As the conflict between NATO and CSAT becomes more intense, the possibility of using nuclear weapons arises. And NATO wouldn’t want such an event occurring and therefore sends a team in to negotiate.

But the interesting part is; though you are going there to negotiate, don’t forget you don’t negotiate with the enemy.

The story of the scenario is great and there is a lot of action in this mission. This is for you guys who love stories.

6. Arma 3 S.W.A.T

Arma 3 S.W.A.T is a very different mission from the most on this list and steam. Since Arma 3 is a military simulator, most missions are shoot to kill. In S.W.A.T the objective is to incapacitate hostels and rescue hostages in a CQW environment.

It reminds me of the old S.W.A.T game, where you breached doors with a flashbang or used tasers to stun hostiles. If you are a S.W.A.T fan, this mod is for you.

3. Mouth For War

Mouth for War is a scenario where you act as a jet pilot, tasked to destroy enemy CSAT targets. But beware, the CSAT has many AA weapons in the area and will take you down if you don’t be careful.

As we have gone through lots of infantry scenarios, we wanted to put in a few vehicle missions as well. Flying a jet is a completely different experience and is not for everyone. But if you are interested in flying jets, this is a good feeling of what flying fast and hitting hard is.

2. Insurgency Vietnam

A wave of choppers in Vietnam

Insurgency Vietnam is a Vietnam War-era scenario. You are a US trooper fighting against the local insurgents. The main objective is to locate and destroy all supply points in the AO.

This scenario needs Vietnam-era mods to work. There is a revive/respawn mechanic in this scenario and every time you replay it, enemies and objectives will spawn randomly. If you like to be in the Vietnam war, start downloading the mods and the scenario.

DCO is a scenario generator. You choose your base location and the faction you want on the map; and there you go, you have a scenario. It is quite good to get a full scale, ready operation just in a few minutes and will feel different as each time it will be random.

Welcome another top list for Arma 3. Today we will be listing the best mods to improve the AI you are fighting with or against in multiplayer or your scenarios. These mods change the way AI behaves, aims and uses vehicles. Don’t forget, each AI mod changes the behavior; and therefore make sure the mods don’t conflict with each other.

Further ado, here are the top 10 AI mods.

10. AI accuracy fix

Although Arma 3 is a military simulator, the AI can sometimes be annoying with their nearly perfect shooting and not missing any bullet. There is no way an LMG can accurately shoot from 500+ meters; but as you would guess, Arma 3 AI can snipe you with an LMG.

AI accuracy fix lowers down the AI accuracy, causing the AI to act a little more like a human and realistic. This is a small mod, only to change the accuracy. Down the list are more complex mods that can include this feature.

9. Universal Difficulty Overhaul

Universal Difficulty Overhaul is a mod that allows you to control the AI difficulty. For some players, AI can be overpowered and punishing; and for some, it can be a piece of cake.

UDO also brings in higher difficulties than the vanilla version, allowing you to create a super hard and realistic AI that will not give you any slack.

8. Ultimate Mobility Overhaul

Created by the same creator of UDO, UMO is a mobility mod that changes both the player's and the AI’s speed according to the weight they carry. In general, it gives more speed and keeps longer stamina; but if you are overweight, the mod will punish you.

7. Tactical Combat Link - TypeX

TCL is a great mod that completely changes AI in general. It improves the AI movement in tactical manners, paradrops and idle actions; and brings in new features such as requesting troop support, requesting artillery strikes and using equipment or cars nearby.

6. Group Link - X -

Group Link is a new mod being created by the same creator of TCL. GL does not have all of the features of TCL and is at the moment focused on the AI reaction and movement.

GL brings in a more aggressive AI than its predecessor, and has better coding than the mod before it, allowing the AI to react faster as the coding is faster.

5. All-in-One Single-Player Project

All-in-One Single-Player Project is not a mod that changes AI behaviour or movement. This is a mod that allows you to easily control the AI in your squad or team. The AI will react faster to your commands, will take faster formations and you get new commands for the AI such as tasking them to plant EOD’s, clear buildings, mount equipment and so on.

This is another mod that is a work in progress, but does look promising.

4. ASR AI 3

ASR AI is another AI enhancement mod. It adds reactions to the AI under fire, forcing them to move to cover, radio in enemy locations and use static weapons. The AI also changes speed and stance accordingly.

In general, it adds more realism to the AI, but doesn’t add new features.

3. LAMBS_Danger.fsm

A showcase of LAMBS Danger's Reaction to Fire

LAMBS is a well known mod around the Arma 3 community. It is a mod that extends the vanilla file of reaction and response to fire, causing the AI to react and respond as soon as it notices a threat.

Troops panic and run into buildings, react even if they don’t spot the enemy, fire towards the incoming enemy fire and hide if there are powerful enemy vehicles nearby such as tanks. Lastly, the AI will aim the tank turret towards the enemy fire, even if it does not have sight.

This mod is a small mod that changes a lot, allowing the game to be more realistic and fun.

2. bCombat

bCombat is an infantry AI mod. It is different from all mods in this list. As well as it has the most basic features such as movement and combat improvement, it also brings a completely new feature to the AI troops, which is morale.

Depending on the morale, the AI accuracy increases or decreases. The number of spotted enemies, explosions, whizzing bullets, ricochets, wounds and casualties are factors that affect the AI morale.

I find the morale idea remarkable, but other mods might be doing a better job in improving the AI realism.

Vcom is an improvement mod on the Arma 3 AI, forcing the AI to be faster, smarter and deadlier. Not only it improves the movement, but also allows the AI to be smarter and put down traps, deploy static weapons, garrison buildings, steal vehicles, heal more often, rearm from dead bodies and so on.

The additional feature in this mod is an experimental driving feature, stopping vehicles from running over their own troops. Vcom is a very good AI mod, used by many players.

10. Pecher

Pecher Map Spotlight

Pecher is a post-apocalyptic map with 3 variations. It has a new, old and winter version.

There is not much info on this mod, it has many ruined buildings, rocky hills and tons of dead trees. It definitely looks like a dead world that has seen a nuclear explosion.

Pecher would make a perfect map for survival or zombie modes. So if you're interested in these types of modes this is a map you should try.

9. Ruha

Ruha is an 8km² map with different environments, such as swamps, hills, forests and more. It is a great map for medium range combat with lots of covers available. As you will notice, it is a small map, good for creating small and fast missions with potential large action.

Ruha is created based on a location in Finland but is heavily modified. The map itself reminds me of a map from Company Of Heroes with a railroad cutting the map into 2. If you are interested in fighting on foot or in transport vehicles or creating a single battle scenario, this map is perfect for you.

8. RHSPKL

A Vietnam Operation on PHSPKL

RHSPKL is a map created by Red Hammer Studios and has a size of 8km². It is the map of Prei Khmaoch Luong.

Prei Khmaoch Luong is a tiny province in the middle of the South-East Asian peninsula. Situated right on the borders between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, it has seen a fair share of armed conflicts.

With that being said, it has a dense jungle and a wide river going through the map, allowing the locals to use the river for transportation and movement.

It is a Vietnam map with its large and dense tree areas; or open rice fields that have no cover. You can relive the Vietnam war, or create some spec ops on this map. Give it a try.

7. Fapovo Island

Fapovo is a map divided into 2 regions; one is Fapovo on the SW, other is Botana on the NE. The map size is 100km² and consists of many towns and checkpoints.

Fapovo is a green, lush country full of rivers and high peaks. But there is also a desolate place on the North where bio-weapon test mishap destroyed foliage and poisoned the soil in a range of a mile radius.

This is a great map with a huge immersive feeling, good for many types of game modes, such as survival, roleplay, domination and a few more. If you like large maps, you should try this.

6. New York City, USA

Ever wanted to wander around New York? Now you have the chance to do this in Arma 3.

This map is a recreation of Governor's Island, Liberty Island, lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. As the buildings and streets are not highly customized, the assets do not look too much like the real map, but still gives a general idea of what it would look like.

This map is quite cool and would be perfect for an apocalyptic or zombie world. Fly around the map to see the docks, Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

5. Elaine County V1.0

Welcome to Elaine County. The county in your dreams.

Elaine County is a 25km² map designed for roleplaying. On this huge map, you have hundreds of luxurious buildings, beaches, apartments, social areas and long, large roads. The visuals and design of the map are amazing!

So if you are interested in roleplaying on a very detailed map, definitely try this.

4. Esseker

Introduction to Esseker, the post-apocalyptic world.

Some parts are similar to the Fapovo Island, Esseker is a 169km² map, 1.5 times bigger than Fapovo. It has huge hills, large rivers and many towns. This map is perfect for a survival multiplayer game.

The creator has currently used more than 1.480.000 objects to make the map as realistic and immersive as possible. But there is a small issue, since the mod uses so many different objects, you are required to download other mods to be able to play on this map. You can see the list of required mods in the description in the download link below.

With the largeness and the time and effort spent on this map, you should have this map or at least try it to see the beauty of the land.

3. Kerama Islands By [Vétérans]

Spotlight of Kerama Islands

Kerama is a 22km² area which consists of 5 islands, of which 3 are connected to each other with bridges.

It is a great map for domination, island by island. You can insert via air, sea or land. There is an underground submarine base as well, good for CQC. There are lots of interesting landmarks waiting to be discovered.

I love the idea of multiple islands connected to each other, giving you a larger variety for movement, and honestly, the map looks cool.

2. Australia

Detailed overview of Australia.

Australia is a huge map with a 40km² size and is using the real shape of Australia. Although the cities are not exactly real cities, the map gives you an idea of what the country looks like and what type of terrain you would see in real life.

It is impressive to see how much time and effort the creator has put into the map. The map uses custom buildings and I do not know how it would affect the AI. But it looks very good for roleplay and you should at least wander around on the map to get a feeling.

This mod requires a DLC: Arma 3 Apex.

1. VIDDA | LEGACY VERSION

Showcase of Vidda

Vidda, one of the best maps I have seen. The details on the bases and open terrain is unbelievable. There is even a secret on this map; bunkers, scattered around the map waiting to be found.

I cannot explain how amazing the valleys and the snowy hills are. I just love everything on this map. You can operate from the huge airbase or you can drive through the long and wide roads on the map.

The only way of understanding my excitement about this map is to test it yourself. So go ahead and try it.

ARMA III is a massively multiplayer FPS with a dedicated campaign mode. Captain Scott Miller from British Special Forces leads the battle and it is a fight for survival when the defensive NATO operations fail.
