This mod is a simple hue recolor for the vanilla farmhouse and multiplayer cabins. There are some custom pixel placement changes that are taken from other vanilla assets, which are a great addition. This mod uses the vanilla game without any extra requirements.

11-Spanish Revival Buildings (WIP)

This mod adds textural changes to the main farm buildings inspired by the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style, which is found in Latin America and the US. The style features earthy colors and terracotta tiles, as well as dark wooden beams and lots of vines and flowers. The mod creator also incorporated a blurring technique to the colors and shapes to imitate the feeling of traditional paintings of the architectural style.

It adds a temporary cheese shop, or fromagerie in French, for players to purchase a variety of traditional French and Western European cheeses, producers, and recipes. It features some base dairy products and recipes that are always available for purchase, as well as unique cheeses and recipes that become available as players advance their farming, fishing, mining, combat, and foraging skills.

This mod is compatible with both Vanilla and Stardew Valley Expanded maps. In order for this mod to function properly several mods must be installed, most importantly [MFM] Grampleton Maker's Market.

What's Fun About Louvier Fromagerie (GMM):

Meet two new vendors that work at the Fromagerie. Amelie is the primary vendor, and she manages the “front of house” with her father Augustin. Patrice is a part-time employee who comes on Sundays to manage the shop while the Louvier family is away.
Louvier Fromagerie introduces 7 new crafting recipes for traditional cheese presses and butter churns. Each producer can produce two types of cheese or butter: cow’s milk and goat’s milk.

This cute mod gives players the ability to have a tiny greenhouse before the main greenhouse gets unlocked once they reach level 4 Farming. Bought from Robin, it is pretty tiny with a 3x2 footprint, and it holds 30 crops. Not only is it great to have as a sort of starter greenhouse, but it is also perfect for challenge runs and smaller farm maps like Riverland.

4-Mystical Buildings

Using the Solid Foundations framework, this Mystical Buildings mod includes a bundle of strange but useful custom buildings that can be built by the Wizard. These six builds provide players with rewards for interacting with them, which can be used daily. Each Mystical Building can only be built once per player, but if it is deconstructed, it may be built again. The building's cooldown can be changed by editing the mod’s configuration. Each building by default uses a cooldown of one game day.

This mod requires Generic Mod Config Menu and Solid Foundations.

What's Fun About Mystical Buildings:

Quizzical Statue- This statue will ask you daily questions about the bachelors and bachelorettes and what items they love and hate. Answer it correctly and you'll be rewarded generously!
Statue of Greed- This hungry statue will offer to double any given items, though it may just end up eating what you give it!
Crumbling Mineshaft-This not-so-stable mineshaft will lead you into a cavern with a vast wealth of ores. However, you will only have a small amount of time before the mineshaft starts to collapse! 3-More Clocks

The Gold Clock is a special type of building that is purchasable from the Wizard after finishing the quest Goblin Problem. A late-game building and the most expensive building, costing 10 million gold, it has several effects for your farm and Ginger Island farm, such as preventing debris from ever appearing again, with fences no longer decaying, and also functioning as a regular clock. This mod adds two different types of clocks with their own custom effects, the Iridium Clock and the Radioactive Clock, as well as giving the Gold Clock a new effect. All Clock options are editable via the config.json file or the Generic Mod Config Menu.

This mod requires SMAPI - Stardew Modding API.

What's Fun About More Clocks:

This mod works both in single-player and multiplayer, with all players needing to have the mod installed. It is also compatible with most other mods.
The Gold Clock now gives you an additional percent more gold for selling items through the Shipping Bin. This works the same as the Profit Margin modifier when you start a new Multiplayer game.
The Iridium Clock allows you to plant any seeds in any season on your farm. It also gives a percent chance at the end of each day of Speeding Up all of the machines currently running, meaning their time to finish producing an item is reduced by a set percentage.
The Radioactive Clock gives a percent chance to any crop on your farm, excluding the Greenhouse and Ginger Island, to "mutate" and become Fully Grown overnight or to grow by one "growth phase". It also increases the chance of getting Giant Crops (Vanilla Crops only) to a set percentage.

The Gold Clock is a really expensive building, costing 10 million gold, and it will take some time to get that kind of money! If you want to be able to get the clock without breaking the bank, this mod will do that for you. It makes the clock fully configurable, meaning you can choose when and how you are able to acquire the clock.

This mod requires Content Patcher and SMAPI - Stardew Modding API. It is available in Portuguese and English.

What's Fun About Fully Configurable - Gold Clock

You can configure the items needed to build the clock and how many items.
The amount of money needed to buy the clock is configurable.
Configure whether Robin will build the clock and how long it takes to build.

1-GreenhouseUpgrades

As stated in the name, this mod allows you to upgrade your Greenhouse for more growing space and even auto-watering. Once you unlock the Greenhouse, either by following the Community Center route or the Joja Mart route, you can go to Robin for two upgrades. Each upgrade takes 2 days to complete like normal builds.

The mod requires Content Patcher and SMAPI - Stardew Modding API. It is available translated into Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish.

What's Fun About GreenhouseUpgrades:

The first upgrade is called the Big Greenhouse and it features a 15x15 growing space, meaning 105 new tiles.
The second upgrade is called the Deluxe Greenhouse and it features a 21x21 growing space, giving the greenhouse 321 new tiles vanilla greenhouse, and an auto-watering system.
There even is a panel outside the Deluxe greenhouse that turns green when crops inside are ready for harvest, no matter if they are planted in the soil or a garden pot.

Regardless, the option of enchantment abilities is a favored addition by most gamers. Though the vanilla version of Minecraft has several enchantment options available, there are many fans who have created enchantment modifications, or mods, to use within the game, adding to the vanilla enchantments or creating completely new ones. 15- Unique Enchantments

A vanilla-friendly mod, Unique Enchantments consists of nearly completely customizable enchantments to improve players' combat and quality of life with changes to the tools, armor, weapons, and even curses. The effects range from increasing your damage while low in health, to restoring health by wearing an enchanted chest plate.

A Base mod is needed in order for the Unique Enchantments to be functional. It can also be used with other mods and has a group of add-on mods. Currently, it is available for the 1.16 game version as a Forge mod and has been translated into German, Russian, and French. Why Unique Enchantments is fun:

Climate Tranquility mod: Your weapon damage effect depends on the biome temperature. Example: In the hot biome, the attack speeds up, while in the cold biome the target is burned.
Fast Food: When using weapons, passive creatures and animals replenish the hunger bar without dropping anything. It’s great for when there’s a limited number of animals to farm.
Momentum: Your speed per block increases as you mine and level up. You can mine more quickly as a result, and you'll get to the diamonds more quickly.

14- Extra Enchantments and Curses

Just as the name states, this mod is full of extra enchantments and curses to add to your Minecraft experience. You can enchant weapons, tools, and armor, and curse your armor to give yourself that extra edge. Included in this mod are 19 enchantments and 8 curses.

Currently, it is available for 1.18 and 1.19 game versions as a Fabric mod only. It also supports another mod, Enchantment Descriptions which is mentioned below.

Why Extra Enchantments and Curses is fun:

13- Majrusz's Wonderful Enchantments

Created by and named after user Majrusz, Wonderful Enchantments is a Forge mod that adds enchantments to make players’ tools, weapons, and armor stronger. Curses are included and they are all customizable.

This mod requires a Majrusz library mod in order to work. Currently, it is available for the 1.19.2 game version and like the previous mod, supports the Enchantment Descriptions mod. It has been translated into multiple languages such as Russian, Korean, Spanish, and French.

Why Majrusz’s Wonderful Enchantments is fun:

Frost Rider enchantment: This enchantment works just like the Frost Walker enchantment but for horses. When a horse walks over water it creates frosted ice blocks.
Harvester enchantment: A hoe tool enchantment, players can auto-plant and till every 3x3 block area. Makes for faster and easier farming.
Dodge enchantment: This armor enhancement affects legging durability, giving a 12.5% chance to avoid damage per enchantment level.

12- So Many Enchantments

This mod has enchantments that add to the original vanilla Minecraft enchantments as well as many new ones. Some enchantments have added benefits for players, such as Blessed Edge, which simultaneously heals the player while dealing damage to hostile mobs. Other enchantments have a cursed element to them, like Unpredictable, where the type of damage is literally unpredictable, either healing mobs or dealing damage.

Extreme Smite: One of the additions to Vanilla enchantments, this one inflicts extra damage and applies weakness to undead mobs.

Simply named Leap, this enchantment mod lets players double jump anytime they are moving downward. Only applicable with boots, this enchantment can be found in chests, taken from librarian villagers, or through fishing as loot.

This mod has been translated into Russian, Taiwanese Chinese, Chinese, and Korean. It is a Forge mod and is currently available for game versions 1.17, 1. 18, and 1.19.

Coming back with Tech Hippie is a mod for a re-organized floor paint replacement, the K-202 MOD. Each replacement becomes a realistic version of the Maxis paint.

Painting with K-202 Mod installed shows enhanced textures that mimic a more realistic view of what Maxis already did. The grass looks like grass, and the stone path you paint will look like actual stone instead of paint.

5. Invisible Fence 2.0

Every time someone makes a path to the house in Sims 4, their sim takes another path that doesn't use what is made. Invisible Fence 2.0 is a mod that restricts the path that a sim can use.

This mod comes with two fences that are visible in build mode and invisible in live mode. Creator Bakie has updated their original mod so that it would look and run smoothly for your game.

Create your desired path that you want your sims to walk down. They will no longer tray from that path with the Invisible Fence 2.0.

4. HQ Mod Switch

Everything is better in HQ, specifically the Sims 4. With the HQ Mod from creator jwofles, sims are brought into a whole new light bringing new details.

You can toggle the HQ mod on and off through the Game Options menu. The point of this mod is to uncompress textures for the best quality textures on objects and sims.

You will need to make sure you have HQ files loaded into your game. This mod will even work with CC that states on the download pages.

3. Into the Light

The lighting within Sims 4 isn't always the best. With Into the Light mod, you can see your sims better no matter the lighting.

This particular mod focuses on the lighting for your sims specifically. It removes the blue hue used in The Sims 4 lighting, and the mod affects the area around the sim.

Into the Light brings out the true colors with a soft light. Honestly, using this mod makes your sims look better without that blue light.

2. Out of the Dark

Much like Into the Light, Out of the Dark is a lighting mod. Out of the Dark is designed for interior lighting to mute the blue light.

The creator, Lotharihoe, suggests pairing Into the Light and Out of the Dark for the ultimate effect. Out of the Dark brings better lighting for your sim's environment so you can see clearly.

The lighting looks more natural without the Maxis blue light shrouding everything in the dull light. Using this in your game will bring your game into a new light.

1. ReShade

So it begins with a menu of epic paportions.

Mods that enhance the Sims 4 environment usually are placed within the mods folder. There's a mod that goes much deeper than the mods folder; the mod is ReShade.

ReShade does have an intimidating installation because it goes into the Sims 4 location bin. You can find several tutorials on YouTube, but the one that helped me can be found on MissLollypopSims' channel.

With this mod, you can customize the color and lighting to whatever your heart desires. It is a tool that you can install presets or make your own.

11: Confinement:

Co-operate with a seperated partner in 'Confinement'

Another fantastic co-op mod, this time with a major twist in gameplay. Confinement gets its name from the fact that although you very much need to work with a friend, you are always kept separate. Each player (either Atlas or P-Body) has control of only either the blue or the orange portal. By taking turns (something that always goes well between friends) you must figure out how to progress each level with the constraints given to you both. Each player can only do so much to progress in the levels before they have to give up control to their friend by locking themselves in a sectioned-off room. The other player now has to see what they can do with their share of the portal controls. An excellent way to shake up the puzzle style found in the other games.

‘Wake Up’ is an entirely new Portal story where you play as a test subject in a familiar situation. Suki wakes up to find herself in a ruined test area and is instructed by the supposed voice of the Aperture Science Emergency Leaving System. ‘Dilapidation’ is another episodic mod with 6 whole chapters to the entire plot. The surroundings of these new puzzles start off pretty rough and only get worse as the mod progresses, hence the title. Unlike ‘Eidolon’, ‘Dilapidation’ is very much in the classic overgrown Portal 2 style of the Aperture Science Enrichment Centre. In a lot of ways, this mod goes back to basics with some good old fashioned portal testing. Around 3 hours of some excellently designed puzzles is simply what to expect for this polished, ‘PC Gamer Mod of the Week’ winner.

Speaking of simple, this Portal 2 mod is actually more of a Portal 1 mod… kind of. This painstakingly detailed mod allows players to re-live (or perhaps enjoy for the first time) the game that began the entire franchise, Portal 1. This time, it’s in the more up-to-date form of the unreal engine that was used for Portal 2. Praised by one of Portal’s original developers for its accuracy (Jeep Barnett), ‘Portal: Alive and Kicking’ is now the highest quality way to experience the first Portal game, unless you’re a hard-code purist that is.

Another simple, yet very welcome and effective concept for this 2014 mod, ‘Above Aperture’. A key aspect of Portal 2’s vibe and tone is a constant feeling of desperation and being far, far from the outside world. Whether you’re trapped in one of GLaDOS’ tests or accidentally jammed down an abyssal elevator shaft to the very trenches of Aperture’s facility, you don’t exactly feel in-touch with the outside world during your time in Portal 2. ‘Above Aperture’ tries to take a different approach in this regard. These puzzles, which are sometimes described as a little tedious by some players, all take place at or near the surface of the Aperture Science Enrichment Centre. This gives the player an unfamiliar feeling of hope and the ability to breathe fresh, un-recycled air.

Another new, unexplored element of being out in the open as you test.
Provides a real challenge. Don’t expect the stages to start off easy!
Despite being more open and outside than Portal 2, the style is still very much true to its source material.

Also posing a real challenge for Portal fans but without any tedious or overly difficult moments, ‘Reconstruction’ is an underrated and impressive follow-up mod. Where the crumbling deterioration of the environment played into the gameplay in ‘Dilapidation’, the reformation from GLaDOS is now a mechanic in ‘Reconstruction’.

5: Aperture Tag: The Paint Gun Testing Initiative

This priced mod (around $5) much like the base game, involves solving puzzles in Aperture Science, with a unique gun that shoots blue and orange projectiles, however this mod is much more unique than that might sound. Rather than portals, this ingenious mod utilises an entirely new device: The Paint Gun. Gels were introduced in Portal 2 and provide a totally new angle and mechanic to consider on top of your portals. The two gels featured in this mod are the blue repulsion gel which acts like a trampoline on any surface it touches, and the orange propulsion gel which allows players to travel across affected surfaces at wild speeds. Combining these two liquids made for some fantastic moments in Portal 2, but an entire mod dedicated to these crazy gels is just a perfect recipe for fun.

Why is this mod so good?

Scrapping the portals altogether for a new tool that allows high speeds and higher jumps is endless, re-playable fun.
Entirely new puzzles and tests have been made from scratch to work with the new paint gun device, meaning that the stages are unlike any puzzle from either Portal game.

Instead of getting rid of the portal gun like ‘Aperture Tag’ did, this mod adds a third portal that alters time (because two portals just wasn’t mind-bending enough!) This third portal allows the player to visit a future version of Aperture to piece together both the solution to the puzzles and the mysteries of what happened to Aperture Science. On top of the astonishing new feature of a third portal, all new voice acting, level designs and fully composed music tie this mod up as one of the most solid and impressive entries on this list. After all, it can’t have a 96% positive review rate from a total of 14,338 overall reviews for no reason.

‘Gelocity’ isn’t one of the most in-depth of story-rich mods on the list but is certainly a contender for most fun. Utilising the portal gun and the previously mentioned propulsion and repulsion gels, all you need to do in Gelocity is get as best a time as possible in three increasingly elaborate, high-speed time trials. If you were to simply play through all three courses just once then this would of course be the shortest mod on the list, however, the fun comes from perfecting the courses and shaving off fractions of a second with new strategies and methods. ‘Gelocity’ is one of the only mods here to not feature new puzzles but you won’t miss them when you’re soaring through the air like an eagle (piloting a blimp).

2: Portal Stories: Mel

In this original, standalone story, you play as German Olympian (turned test subject), Mel. This final entry features a new mechanic that is so innovative, I bet Valve are kicking themselves that they didn’t think of it first. Thinking With Time Machine provides a Portal play style that brings co-op players and single-players together. With the help of a patented Aperture time machine, Chell can now be her own puzzling partner (sorry Atlas and P-Body). By activating the time machine, your short-term actions begin to be recorded and by using it again when you’re ready, you will summon another Chell that carries out what you just did, this time alongside your current self. You can most likely already imagine what kind of opportunities this could open up. This mod could certainly do with being a little longer, however just the fact that someone thought of this and made it into a reality is impressive enough.

Ground-breaking feature of echoing back your own actions to help your future self.

3. Bullet Counted Reload System (BCR) by shavkacagarikia

This one is not a weapon mod per se, but it does affect how the weapons are reloaded. There is a bug in Fallout 4 where the reloading animation inaccurately reflects the amount of ammo that is being replenished. The most infamous one is the lever-action rifle, where the animation will have you reload all five ammunition despite only firing one shot before it.

This mod simply fixes that issue and makes sure that any weapon with an animation that can be visibly counted to be accurate to the amount that is being reloaded. This is also used for a lot of other mods so it's highly recommended to install this.

Alright, last one and we’re done with this set of mods. Ever wondered why Fallout 4 doesn’t allow you to do body tattoos on your sole survivor but face tattoos are A-OK? Well, this addition to the LooksMenu mod pretty much changes that silly decision by Bethesda and allows you to overlay art to your natural, fleshy canvas.

Using the engine modifications from LooksMenu, this mod by krisser143 lets you place tattoos using the overlay feature in the body section of the menu. It comes with plenty of cool designs that I’m even considering putting on my body.

Tired of the same old western look of the sole survivor? Maybe you want some more Asian representation in the game other than the robot, Takahashi?

Good news, friends! Fuse00 has created a mod that replaces the plain and boring vanilla textures of the female sole survivor’s face and body with a higher resolution. This mod gives the skin a more realistic look and improves the general appearance of the body.

We’ve had quite a few mods that feature only women so let’s do one for the guys next. Fallout 4 has a weird quirk in that most of the men in the game don’t seem to have a lot of body hair, especially on the chest area. There are very few presets that I like to use whenever I play Fallout 4, but this one is a favorite of mine. The cute preset by DonJunk does not lie; It’s cute and it is amazing. Many mod authors have decided to use this cute preset as a model for many of their mod pictures, which is very much understandable.

While this is not a mod per se, the main file itself already contains all of the required mods and textures that you’ll need to get the same look like the image above. So getting this is as simple as downloading and installing it using a mod manager.

There exist various other presets available on Nexus, but take it from me, not many get much better than this.

1. Josie Body - A CBBE and Fusion Girl Bodyslide Preset

Different people have different tastes in what they would consider being an attractive body. For me, I prefer a body that is not too slim and has enough curvature to be considered “stacked”, but not enough to go “oh god”. Was that too much information?

Josie Body by spacepoptart is exactly what I would consider being in my strike zone. It is realistic enough in proportions for me to not be taken away from the game but nice enough to make me go into 3rd person sometimes. The body is designed to be able to support a bunch of mods that you would like to see go with this outfit.

If you don’t like this preset, worry not. There are so many other bodyslide presets available on the Nexus that you shouldn't have much trouble finding one that you like. But for me, I still think this is the best preset out there.

[Top 15] Fallout 4 Best Mods For a New Playthrough

Let's start a new game of Fallout 4; this time, without the bugs.

We are less than a month away from Fallout 4’s 6th anniversary as of the writing of this article. I still remember that day back in 2015’s Bethesda E3 showcase when Todd Howard, the man, the myth, the legend, announced the release date of Fallout 4 and how spectacular the crowd reaction was. The presentation and the way he hypes up the crowd is one of his many qualities that garners huge support from a large portion of the gaming community.

Fallout 4 was set up to be one of the best games ever made.

Fast forward a few years and the sparkles of this brand new game start to diminish. We now see it for what it truly is. A fairly decent game, nothing too special, with a whole lot of bugs and a lot less of everything. No role-play value, no end-game, no smart AI, restrictions everywhere and plain, bad game design and story-telling.

Fortunately, while Bethesda doesn’t care too much to fix Fallout 4 (since they just started development on Fallout 76), the modding community has taken it upon themselves to do it themselves. For the past six years, many mods have come out to help enhance the gameplay in every way possible.

If you’re starting a new playthrough of Fallout 4 in 2021, you might as well install these mods and get a better experience than playing the vanilla base game.

15. Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch

Unofficial patch because Bethesda can't be bothered releasing an official one.

How the unofficial patch works.

The name of the mod says it all. It’s a patch for the game that’s unofficial because Bethesda doesn’t bother making the official one. This mod pretty much does what it claims to do, and that is to fix all (or at least most) of the bugs and tiny inconsistencies that plague the game.

The mod author, Arthmoor, and his team of modders have worked extensively to rectify the hundreds of bugs and issues that are present in every aspect of the game, including gameplay, quests, NPCs, and even in-game texts.

Despite the extensive fixes, the mod does not change any of the core elements of the game, so if you’re worried that this mod will change anything regarding the story, you can be rest assured. Just install and play; no need to think too hard about it.

14. Load Accelerator

Accelerate the load time significantly with this simple mod.

The difference is like night and day.

There is a common issue when it comes to a modded Fallout 4 game in that the loading screen simply becomes way too long. There have been moments where I waited for a solid 2-3 minutes on the loading screen as I was coming out of a building to the Commonwealth. And before you ask, yes, I am using an SSD.

Thankfully, this mod by chairo_hippo managed to reduce my load time from 3 minutes to only 15 seconds. As it turns out, Fallout 4’s loading screen is tied to your FPS, so if you had limited your FPS to 60, the game would only load at that speed.

Load Accelerator tweaks the game files so that the FPS is not limited on the loading screen, so your frames can go all the way to 300+ FPS during loading screens, significantly speeding up the loading process. If you’re gonna be playing a modded Fallout 4, then you need this mod. What an absolute godsend.

13. Immersive HUD - iHUD

Now here’s a mod that I can no longer live without. Ever since I installed this mod, it’s been the one thing that has been consistent in my mod list.

The clean UI it provides is just so essential to the Fallout experience. Being able to witness the ruins of Boston, the derelict wasteland of the Commonwealth, and the decrepit state of the glowing sea without a bright green HUD in the way is such a breathtaking experience.

Immersive HUD by Gopher can also be adjusted to your liking. If you want to keep everything hidden except for the sneaking indicator, you can. The modular nature of this mod is why I believe it is one of the best mods to install and play Fallout 4 with. No question.

12. Faster Terminal Displays

They really need more RAM in this terminal.

One of the biggest annoyances in Fallout 4 is undoubtedly the god-awful slow terminal. I swear, even my grandma’s 10-year-old laptop filled with viruses galore is faster than the normal Fallout terminal.

Thankfully, this simple mod by Old Nick fixes this issue and spared all of us from having to buy a second monitor. The mod itself comes with a few different speed variations so you can install a different speed if you think the default is still too slow or way too fast.

There’s nothing else to say about this. Save yourself from a migraine and install this mod.

11. Lowered Weapons

Practice gun discipline always.

The gun lowers itself out of combat.

To be honest, this is one of those nitpicks that you just can’t unsee after you see it. For some reason, in first-person camera, the sole survivor will point their gun forward no matter if they're in combat or out of it.

Lowered Weapons by lesma666 is a simple but essential mod that helps you stay immersed in the apocalyptic world. Nothing breaks your immersion more than when your character is pointing the barrel of a gun at anything in front of them. Maybe the sole survivor needs some gun safety lessons after being frozen for so long.

This is also a no-brainer mod. Just install and don’t think about it too much.

10. Everyone’s Best Friend

Who says you can't bring your good boy along on the trip?

The ultimate mod for the doggo.

Did you know? Fallout 4 has more companions other than Dogmeat. The more you know.

But in all seriousness, the companion system in Fallout 4 is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s decent enough to use, but most of them are just not worth taking in your adventures compared to your loyal canine friend. The fact that you have to trade your dog to travel with other people is one of the biggest deal-breakers to me.

But, as it turns out, Bethesda originally planned for you to be able to take Dogmeat and one other companion with you. Unfortunately, they took it out of the game. But fortunately, mod author valdacil decided to bring it back.

If you want to take a companion with you and still have Dogmeat around cause he’s a good boy, then this mod is perfect for you.

9. See Through Scopes

Do you like realism? Do you not like how you are transported to the shadow realm whenever you look down a scope? Well, I’ve got just the mod for you.

See Through Scopes makes it so that you can, well, see through a scope. Instead of having only a circular view from the scope surrounded by darkness, this mod makes it so that you can still see the surroundings of the scope. This allows for more dynamic combat and unlike the vanilla version, this one does not take you out of combat whenever you look through a scope.

The mod by henkspamadres also comes with a few variations of custom scopes that are craftable on the workbench. I highly recommend getting this mod for how better it makes the combat.

8. Classic Holstered Weapon System (CHW)

Stop pulling your gun out of the pocket dimension.

See how this simple mod enhances immersion.

I don’t understand why Bethesda decided to take out the holstered weapons from the previous games in Fallout 4. Some theorize it’s because of the addition of layered armor and wanting to avoid clipping issues. I get that, but to be honest who cares.

This mod by shavkacagarikia brings back the good ol’ holster system from the previous games. Now the sole survivor will no longer pull a rifle from a separate dimension. From my experience, while clipping issues exist, it is not so bad that you would take the whole thing out of the game.

In my opinion, seeing your heavily modded weapon strapped on your back (or side) is cool enough that I’d tolerate clipping just to have it. If you agree, get the mod.

7. Extended Dialogue Interface

To hell with the weird four-choice system. Bring back the old interface!

The 4 dialogue system from the vanilla Fallout 4 is so bad, I couldn’t believe someone in Bethesda even had the idea in the first place. It’s like they saw the game title and thought, “let’s limit player choice to 4 choices hurr durr”. Not only that, the choices are so vague that you won’t know what you’re saying until the sole survivor says it.

That’s why I’m so happy that mod author registrator2000 made this mod to fix the issue. The mod brings back the old Fallout dialogue style where you’d have boxes instead of the D-pad, and it even shows what the sole survivor would say!

This mod is also pretty mod-friendly as it does not limit other mod authors to 4 dialogue choices. If you’re going to be downloading more mods, eventually you’re gonna need this.

6. Start Me Up - Alternate Start and Dialogue Overhaul

Don't wanna be father? You don't have to be!

Plenty of options to start your journey in the Commonwealth.

If you’re going into your 2nd playthrough, you might not need this as much, but if you’re like me and already on your 14th run of the game, this mod is what will keep you sane.

Start Me Up is a great mod by TinyManticore that allows you to pretty much skip the entire beginning portion of the game. Y’know, the one where you have to wait for the Vault-tec rep, calm your baby, run to the vault, walk slowly to the pod, get frozen, watch your spouse get murdered, get frozen again, fight some roaches, wait for an elevator, THEN get out?

Yeah, this mod skips all that. It also lets you have an alternate start, so you won’t have to be a parent looking for your child if you don’t want to. Great mod. Install it.

5. True Storms - Wasteland Edition

Experience the best weather effects in a single mod.

Enhance your gameplay with an amazing ambiance.

Fallout 4 can be a bit bland in the weather department. You’ll maybe get some fog here, a drizzle there, and the occasional radstorm. But that’s it, to be honest.

True Storms by fadingsignal is one of the best weather mods around. It adds so much in terms of atmosphere and ambiance that it’s a wonder how Bethesda didn’t do this from the beginning.

If you want to experience a weather system that is not a total wash, then True Storms is what you want to install.

4. Better Settlers

Better settlers, better settlements.

Your settlers are no longer useless and feel like survivors.

One of the best things Fallout 4 added is the settlement building mechanic. Some like it, some don’t care for it, but it’s still a great addition that contributes to dozens of hours of playtime.

Unfortunately, it always feels like you’re the only one that’s supposed to defend each settlement. The settlers are just too weak to handle raider attacks and it keeps distracting you from exploring the world.

This mod by thom293 makes the settlers better in every way. Stronger, tougher, and can take care of themselves against raiders. It also gives some variations to the settlers in settlements so you don’t get the same ol’ Joe every time you recruit someone.

3. Place Everywhere

Don't let the game limit your freedom.

Build it anywhere. And I mean, anywhere.

Red lines. The bane of every settlement builder. The game not allowing you to build something at a specific place will always be something I despise about it.

The mod Place Everywhere does pretty much what it says, it allows you to place any item anywhere without limitations. If you want, you can build a house floating above the ground or build a house inside another house. The sky's the limit. No really, you can’t build after a certain height.

If you’re big on settlement building and want to make a place that looks like a home, you shouldn’t be limited by some red lines. Install this mod if you don’t want to follow Bethesda’s weird rule of where you can and can’t build.

2. Survival Options

Wanna play survival mode, but the no saving and fast travel is a huge turn-off?

Just turn off anything you don't like about the mode!

Survival mode has been my go-to difficulty ever since it was released. The addition of new mechanics like thirst, hunger, tiredness, disease, and adrenaline makes the wasteland seem more dangerous and more realistic. It even makes some of the less useful things in Fallout like food and water matter a lot more.

But the addition that grinds my gears are the inconveniences that make you waste time more than it enhance my experience. While no saving unless you sleep and no fast travel make it seem more realistic somewhat, it makes things much more frustrating especially considering how easy it is to die and how frequently you find strong enemies during your travels.

Survival Options mod by Jekod is a simple mod that allows you to tweak some of the things enabled by survival mode. You can disable hunger and thirst or even enable saving and fast travel. This way, you can adjust the game mode to fit your playstyle and get the best experience from it.

1. Horizon

Quite possibly the biggest and best change to Fallout 4.

So far we’ve talked a lot about the quality of life mods which are essential when starting a new playthrough. But, when it comes to gameplay, there’s only one mod that truly enhances the way you play.

Horizon by zawinul is a gameplay overhaul mod that changes so much of the game to make it more challenging, more rewarding, more fun, and more immersive. It adds a ton of new systems, additions, and rebalances that it almost feels like playing a new game. The AI is smarter, settlements are better, and the skill system has never been more intuitive.

If you’re looking for a new playthrough of Fallout 4 and want to experience it in a new, more exciting way, I highly recommend Horizon be installed in your mod list.
