There are many maps you can play on in Ark: Survival Evolved now, but it’s still hard to choose which will be the best for you. In this article I will cover information about the best map for solo play, co-op, building, exciting and beautiful gameplay, and overall fun.

5. Extinction (Best for Co-op Play)

Extinction is a wild place– and I do mean that. So many aspects of Extinction feel unwelcoming and terrifying. Even just venturing through the abandoned city in the heart of Extinction doesn’t feel quite right.

Extinction is best for doing events to gain extra blueprints and resources with friends or tribemates.
Extinction is a great place to hide when playing on a PvP server, due to how high the map is.
Building on Extinction can be amazing, as there are so many hidden areas to do so. Building a base with a friend could be very successful on this map.

4. Valguero (Best for Solo Play)

Valguero is a great map for anything that has to do with solo play, in my opinion. The map is versatile, to say the least.

Valguero is perfect for farming Alphas by yourself, as the spawn rate for Alpha Dinos seems to be higher there than on most maps.
Locating and taming your first Argentavis can be extremely easy on Valguero, where there are more common spawn areas for them.
Valguero is a great place to find artifacts, as well. Most of them are easy to get to, and don’t require too much extra gear.
Valguero isn’t a particularly big map, making it very easy to navigate.

3. The Center (Great for Building)

The Center is a favorite starting map for loads of players. Not only does The Center have different biomes all over the place, it also has awesome base locations and spawn points.

The Center has a number of building locations that can easily be hidden from others and even protected.
The Center has a massive ocean, and even a large air bubble that allows you to breathe normally underwater. It would make for a perfect underwater base location.
In addition, you have access to nearly any resource and dinosaur that you could need for building bases here due to The Center’s scattered, yet defined biomes.

2. Crystal Isles (Great for Beautiful Gameplay)

Crystal Isles is a relatively new map still, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s easily one of the most beautiful maps thus far.

Crystal Isles features those gorgeous Aberrant dinosaurs that were released in the Aberration map, but without all the difficulty navigating to find and track them.
There aren't as many dinosaur spawns in Crystal Isles, so you will be able to find a base location and build more effectively.
Crystal Isles is the mpa for anyone who finds wonder and excitement in the beautiful views of Ark.

1. Aberration (Great for Overall Fun)

Aberration has always been a great overall map. Some aspects can be a tad bit more tricky, but it’s well worth it in the end. There are loads of things to do in Aberration, and cool dinosaurs that you can’t find anywhere else.

Aberration’s distinct biomes are something you can’t find anywhere else and are a favorite for many.
The majority of the fun in Aberration is not on the ground, but rather up in the trees, which allows for the possibility for building in the sky rather than on the ground.
Aberration is perfect for farming certain resources that are otherwise difficult to find, like metal, honey, and crystal.

Is Ark: Survival Evolved Worth it? (Here's 10 Things You Should Know)

10. Playing With Friends is the Way to Go

Ark is a great game to play by yourself, but like most open world games, it’s so much better to play with friends than it is to play by yourself.

There are a lot of aspects to Ark that can be very fun when playing by yourself. With the amount of grinding that you have to do, and the limits to your leveling, it’s much easier with a friend. You can split up who has higher stats in certain attributes, and who does certain tasks.

Building takes quite a while when you’re building by yourself too, but with a friend it can be better. By yourself, you’d have to stop every so often to collect resources, build the pieces you need, and then place them down where you’d like them. Having another friend or two can make it so much faster. One person can collect, while the other crafts, and finally, you build. The same goes for most other aspects of Ark.

Finally, any sort of fighting is optimal with extra firepower. Some of the threats in Ark can be very strong, and have a higher level than you and your tames. The more people you have going at them, the faster and easier you will bring them down. This is especially true for boss fights.

9. Endgame

Although there is a lot of time and effort put into reaching the end of Ark: Survival Evolved, it’s totally worth it. Throughout the game, you have a level cap of 100 for your player. When you reach the boss fights in each map, you gain a higher level cap and unlock more maps and tek blueprints!

After you’ve collected trophies from various wild dinosaurs and relics from caves, you unlock three different levels of bosses from each map. These bosses drop amazing blueprints, resources, element and you unlock tek blueprints when you complete them.

Once you’ve completed all three bosses on a map, you unlock the next map and gain a higher level cap.

After you’ve completed the bosses on all maps, you have everything unlocked, have a much higher level cap, and have ascended to the highest level possible. Until the developers of Ark release a new map, that is! You can continue playing afterwards as you did before and build, tame, fight, and just have fun. The game never really ends.

8. Slower Progression

Ark takes quite a while to play, if you’re planning on fishing the game and have all the end game gear. You have to invest a lot of time and work, like I state in a couple other key points.

The progression of the game is very slow, requiring you to be very dedicated. Between grinding for your resources and gear, taming dinosaurs and building bases worthy of holding up against angry wild dinos, you can spend months or even years getting to where you want, and that’s not even including fighting the bosses to ascend!

Though it takes quite a bit of time, playing Ark is very rewarding and fun! It’s a game that I’ve spent years playing and enjoy very much.

7. Don’t Get Too Attached as a Beginner

There’s nothing quite like taming your first Dodo, or Dilo, or even building your first little thatch hut. Though, you probably shouldn’t get too attached to your first tames. Throughout your journey on Ark: Survival Evolved, you will go through so many tames, bases, and even resources and tools.

Many times when you first start out on Ark, you come across a random carno or raptor that will inevitably kill you because you won’t have the tools needed to kill or tame it yet, or you venture into the water and get annihilated by piranhas.

The bottom line is, there are many times in your beginning days on Ark where you will lose tames and bases, or have them killed and destroyed on you. Don’t be upset though, these are all stepping stones toward your success on Ark. You will still keep the experience you gained and get a bit of practice for larger animals and more advanced bases.

6. Where to Start

There are now a bunch of maps to play on, and loads of spawn areas on each map, but which one is best for you?

It really all depends on your level of experience. Some maps are much harder than others, and some are extremely simple. I’ll give you a list of the maps from the easiest to the most difficult below:

The Island
Extinction
Aberration

5. Prepare to Invest Some Serious Time

Ark isn’t a game that you just pick up to play for a few minutes a day and get any sort of headway in. If you want to get anywhere in the game, you will have to invest quite a bit of time into it.

In my personal experience, spending a few hours a day will get you a decent amount of experience and grind time, but it will still take ages to really get anything done. Let’s put it into perspective. The dinosaur shown above is a Giga, one of the biggest dinosaurs in game, and one of the most commonly used for gameplay once you’ve gained the ability to knock out, tame, and use one.

On average, obtaining the tools needed to simply knock out a giga takes anywhere from days to weeks. You need a flying tame, metal structures, rifles, tranquilizing ammo (and a lot of it), raw prime meat, and loads of narcotics. To put it into perspective, the flying tame is most likely the easiest of the tools needed to obtain.

But the fun part is actually taming the giga. Assuming you’ve used some really good taming gear and food, taming a level 1 giga can take anywhere from an hour and a half to fifteen minutes. If you find yourself a max level, it can take up to 6 hours and 45 minutes. Just to tame one dinosaur, you’re investing the better part of a day.

If you plan to start playing Ark, make sure you have the time for it, otherwise your gaming experience will be less than great.

4. PvP isn’t for Noobs

Pvp may sound like a great idea and a quick way to get some extra resources in Ark, but there are some things you should know first.

When playing PVP on an Ark server, whether you are online or not, your base can be raided by others who are far stronger. You will inevitably have to restart multiple times.

When you join your first Ark PvP server, you will have to build up fast, effectively, and be able to defend in a quick manner.

Once you are a more advanced player and no longer a noob, you will have most likely built up a variety of contacts that play Ark as well. You Will Need Them. Playing PvP is not for the solitary player. You will need a tribe of people to work with you to defend your base as well as build, gather resources, hunt, and even work on taming dinosaurs for your use as well!

Overall, you should probably wait to dive into a PvP server until you are well versed in the ways of Ark, and know what youre doing.

3. Grind, Grind, Grind

No matter the way you play, or who you play with, there is one thing that is for absolute certain while you are playing Ark: you’re going to have to grind like crazy.

When you start off in Ark, you wake up with nothing in your inventory on an island that leaves you surrounded by threats of all sorts. You begin my punching trees with your bare fists, collecting berries and fiber from bushes, and collecting rocks off the ground. Eventually, you will be fabricating sniper rifles and running around the island like you own the place, fearless.

You have to put a lot of work into leveling up and gaining the ability to craft more advanced items, but you also have a lot more appreciation for all the things you accomplish in the game, due to everything you must do to get to that point.

2. You Choose How You Play

No matter the game you are playing, there are aspects that you can’t particularly control. What I absolutely love about Ark is the fact that you actually can control how you play. The end result is the same, but you have the power to change how you get there. In ark, when you level up, you have the choice whether to put your level points into a selection of attributes.

When you do this, you receive engram points that allow you to unlock certain tools that you can build from your inventory, or a workspace.

While some players might go for a straight health/movement speed/melee build for PvP, others may go for a fortitude/crafting skill/health build. It all depends on you and how you want to play.

When Ark was created several years ago, there was only one map you could play on, The Island, and only a handful of dinosaurs that could be tamed. Since then, eleven new maps have been added:

Lost Island
Fjordur

Just within the last year, several new creatures have been released and added to the game as well as tools, weapons, and much more.

The developers of Ark:L Survival Evolved are releasing a new game, Ark II in 2023 as well, meant to be a continuation of the original game.

15. Smithy

The smithy is very important in Ark. It’s one of the first crafting tables you can use to finally obtain stronger weapons, armor, tools, and even building supplies and saddles.The smithy opens up the opportunity for you to use metal to craft items.

To obtain the smithy, you must have:

14. Refining Forge

The forge is crucial in your progress through Ark. The forge allows you to smelt metal down into metal ingots that can be used for crafting.

To obtain the forge, you must have:

13. Cryopod

Cryopods are a bit more of a late game item, but it is still very important. Cryopods give you the option of moving your tames around in your inventory, saving you time, space, and the stress of potentially losing one of them on your journey.

An obelisk, supply crate, loot crate, treasure chest, or tek replicator

12. Campfire

The campfire is going to be one of your earliest engram purchases in most cases. You can use your campfire to produce charcoal, which won’t be needed until later, and also cook raw meat to make it edible.

11. Storage Box

Storage boxes are an absolute must in Ark. You will have to start with a small storage box and eventually upgrade to a large, then a vault. Without someplace to store your resources and items in Ark, you will quickly find that it is very difficult to work around your weight limits while crafting and gathering.

To get a small storage box, you must have:

10. Armor

Having armor in Ark very well could be the difference between in-game life and death. The islands of Ark are littered with carnivores that would no doubt wish nothing less than to eat you. Having decent armor can help with that greatly. In the early game portion of your experience, you will begin with cloth armor, upgrade to hide armor, then chitin, flak, riot and tek. This may take quite some time, but it’s well worth it in the end.

The best thing about Ark, in my opinion, is that you are given a chance to set your spawn point. In the event that you die, you can be respawned right at your base, and safe indoors where you can re-gear and get going to go find your items.

8. Building resources

Building resources are literally so important in Ark. Having a decent base that can protect you from the elements and enemies is very helpful. It gives you somewhere safe to wait through the night, somewhere to hold your resources and items, somewhere to keep your tames around and maybe even breed them. You start off with basic thatch building blueprints, then stone, metal, and tek.

7. Narcotics

Narcotics are widely useful in Ark, purely for the reason that it is required for the majority of taming. You need narcotics to make tranq arrows, tranq darts, and much more.

6. Mortar & Pestle

The Mortar and Pestle makes it possible for you to craft a wide variety of resources, ranging from cementing paste, to narcotics, and even to spark powder. Without a Mortar and Pestle, you won’t get very far with your crafting or taming in Ark.

5. Crossbow

The crossbow is probably one of my most commonly used weapons in Ark. It takes a while to gain access to stronger weapons, but with your levels put into the right attributes, the crossbow can be a deadly weapon, or a very helpful tool.

4. Bola

The bola is extremely important in your time in Ark. It can help you slow down enemies so that they cannot attack you while trying to tame them.

3. Spear

The spear is the first weapon you will have access to in Ark. It opens up the possibility for increased defense and attack damage, snd unlocks the ability to get stronger weapons in the future. It’s perfect for attacking small dinosaurs and spearing fish.

2. Pick

On your first days in Ark, you will need to collect resources like crazy. Crafting a pick can help you collect some of the resources that you can’t simply collect by hand.

1. Hatchet

The hatchet will most likely be the first tool you craft in Ark, and your most used one as well. Obtaining a hatchet allows you to collect wood and thatch at an increased rate, and even begin to smack large rocks to collect stone, flint and metal.

1. Doedicurus (Best for Harvesting Obsidian and Stone, and Transporting Resources)

How to Get Doedicurus

The Doedicurus is one of The Island’s non-aggressive herbivores, generally found on mountains and grasslands. Large and well-armored, it has a supply of fat under its plates to keep it warm and fed in the cold.

What Makes Doedicurus Great?

This is a very docile dinosaur, making taming it an easier task.
The Doedicurus’ spiky tail is perfect for quickly harvesting stone and obsidian.
The Doedicurus is very hard to kill due to its armor plating.
When the Doedicurus’ health drops to a certain point, it will roll into a ball, making it extremely difficult to kill and making it take significantly less damage.

2. Therizinosaurus (Best for Gathering Berries, Thatch, Wood, and Meat)

How to Get Therizinosaurus

It is surprisingly slow for its size and is a solitary creature (so no pack to back it up). I suppose the fact that its sheer power rivals Tyrannosaurus is the only thing that allows this very aggressive medium-sized herbivore to thrive on the island.

What Makes Therizinosaurus Great?

The Therizinosaurus is great at removing trees and foliage from its path due to it’s large claws.
They are incredibly adept at collecting berries, thatch, wood, hide, and fiber in large quantities.
The Theri is amazing for hunting and fighting, as their large claws deal damage multiple times per attack.

3. Argentavis

How to Get Argentavis

Lording over the skies, Argentavis Atrocollum has few aerial rivals. It is a small consolation for The Island’s other avian creatures, then, that Argentavis seems to have little interest in anything alive.

What Makes Argentavis Great?

Argentavis may be slower than most other flying creatures in Ark, but it has a significantly higher amount of stamina.
The Argentavis is easily one of the best choices for traveling or hauling things through the air since it can stay in the air up to three times longer than Ark’s other flying dinosaurs.
The Argentavis is great at assisting with taming smaller dinosaurs as well. It can carry smaller creatures in its talons, meaning you can take smaller dinosaurs to safer places to tame them.
The Argentavis’ saddle also acts as a mobile Smithy, making it far easier to craft on the go with this great flying beast.

4. Quetzal

How to Get Quetzal

From afar, it’s hard to believe that Quetzalcoatlus is the largest avian on The Island. It shares a similar silhouette with the Pteranodon, but upon closer inspection, is a far more enormous creature.

What Makes Quetzal Great

The Quetzal is great for being used as a carrier to move long distances. With it’s ability to house an entire base on it’s back, it can carry a large amount of dinosaurs, crafting tables, and resources.
The quetzal is great for transporting farming dinosaurs to places they can be used to save time, as well as bringing a forge to make your metal farming much faster.
The quetzal can stay in the air for an extended period of time, and fly from one end of the map to the other with ease.

5. Rex

How to Get Rex

Arguably the deadliest creature on The Island, Tyrannosaurus Dominum is a killing machine. Active mostly when hunting for food or defending its nest, a good plan is to avoid every Tyrannosaurus.

What Makes Rex Great?

The Rex is great for battling due to its extensive amount of power.
Unlike the Giga, which is a larger predator in Ark, the Rex can be taken into boss fights.
Compared to most other predators, The Rex’s health and stamina are both much higher.

6. Mammoth

How to Get a Mammoth

This behemoth towers over many creatures on The Island, and doesn’t seem to fear anything but the Tyrannosaurus. I’ve seen them stomp would-be predators out of their way. Mammoths can grab and throw things with their powerful trunks, and manage a fearsome trumpeting roar within them as well.

What Makes the Mammoth Great

The Mammoth can charge through foliage and trees and collect berries, wood, thatch and fiber with ease and in very large amounts.
Mammoths can survive well in the cold and have a high amount of health.
Mammoths are able to lift and carry survivors and other animals.
The Mammoth makes a great tank due to it’s faster speed than the Bronto or Diplo, and the fact that it is more portable.

7. Ankylosaurus

How to Get Ankylosaurus

Unlike many of the herd animals on The Island, Ankylosaurus Crassacutus tends to live in small family units. I believe they can afford to stick with smaller groups because of their incredibly thick skin, for which they’re named.

What Makes Ankylosaurus Great

The spike-ridden Ankylosaurus has a large club for a tail, which makes it perfect for harvesting stone, metal, obsidian, and even crystal.
The Anky is extremely slow, which makes it an easy target for taming.
The Anky’s spiked tail also makes a great weapon if you are to be attacked while you are out collecting resources.

8. Carnotaurus

How to Get Carnotaurus

Carnotaurus Pressor is a distinctive creature that falls between a medium and large predator. It lives primarily on flat, clear ground where it can capitalize on its speed. Additionally, it seems to have no qualms about running away from larger predators rather than fighting.

What Makes Carnotaurus Great

The Carno has a couple of sharp spikes on its head that are great for hunting, rather than collecting meat and hide.
The Carno has a crazy amount of speed, making tracking or chasing other prey a much easier task.
The Carno has a long down-time where it must regain stamina after sprinting toward or away from other creatures. This makes it a less rounded mount, but still a great one for fast travel.

9. Ichthyosaurus

How to Get Ichthyosaurus

Ichthyosaurus Curiosa is a comparatively small carnivore found in the shallows around The Island. It’s slightly larger than a human, but that’s still compared to the Leviathans roaming these waters. It seems to be very interested in any creature around it’s size, often approaching and following humans swimming through its waters with a friendly nudge.

What Makes Ichthyosaurus Great

The Ichthyosaurus is arguably one of the best mounts for someone starting to explore The Island’s waters.
They are exceptionally fast swimmers, and can travel underwater at great speeds, compared to the slower, yet more fierce Megalodon.
It can take you to the depths of the ocean in seconds, allowing for easy pearl harvesting, and can get you away from nearly any underwater predator with ease

10. Beelzebufo

How to Get Beelzebufo

Beelzebufo Palucocus is the largest frog I’ve ever seen. Almost impossibly large, it can actually fit a full-grown human adult on its back, though just barely. This is a dangerous prospect, though, as secretions from Beelzebufo’s skin and saliva have a narcotic effect on most creatures.

What Makes Beelzebufo Great

Beelzebufo’s long tongue makes it amazing at killing insects, which makes it a perfect mount for venturing through The Island’s swamp biomes, and an excellent crafting mount.
The Beelzebufo actually turns its prey into cementing paste.
This massive frog is one of the best taming mounts, as its tongue has the ability to actually torpor prey, knocking them out with ease. This not only saves you time, but it also saves you resources and narcotics.

There are several stats that you are able to upgrade with each level in Ark, but some are much more important than others, and for obvious reasons.

5. Melee

One of the more important stats is your melee damage.

Throughout your time playing Ark, you spend a lot of it fighting in some manner. It may be in an attempt to knock out a foe to tame it, or just to defend yourself against the occasional wild raptor, or worse.
With increased melee damage, you can eventually take on stronger foes, defend more effectively, and even tame bigger dinosaurs to fight with you.
Dealing extra damage can be helpful in a number of ways.
You harvest more resources with a higher melee damage.
You knock foes out more quickly.
You stand a better chance at survival in a fight.

4. Movement Speed

Movement speed is one of my favorites to level up in Ark, and for a good reason.

Throughout your time in Ark, you do a huge amount of traveling. During the first portion of your experience, the vast majority of that travel is done on foot.
With increased movement speed, you can cut your travel time down by a lot.
Increasing your movement speed also makes it a lot easier to get yourself out of sticky situations and away from faster dinosaurs that have their crosshairs on you.

3. Stamina

Leveling up your stamina is easily one of the most important attributes to level quickly.

In your beginning days on Ark, your stamina will drop very quickly, leaving you slow, unable to get away from enemies.
When your stamina is lowered, your food and water levels drop very quickly, which makes it harder to play like you typically would.
When your stamina is low, you collect much less when foraging.
Having a higher stamina level puts less wear on your movement speed, which allows you to go a longer distance without stopping. In turn, you wouldn’t need as high of a movement speed level.

2. Health

No matter the game you play, health is always one of the first things you should level.

When you have higher health that is full, your injuries heal faster rather than slowing you down further.
Needless to say, with higher health, you die much less, giving you more of a chance to grow your character.
With higher health, you have a much better chance of overall survival against the many threats you face in Ark.

Weight is the absolute most important stat to level in Ark. Here’s why:

As you go through your time in Ark, you’ll quickly find that you don’t really have the weight allowance to do much of anything.
When it comes to crafting, foraging, or even hunting, you need to have a high weight level so that you can easily carry the things you are creating or collecting. This saves you time and extra trips back and forth from your storage containers.
You will also find that when you are crafting as you progress through your game, the resources required and the overall weight of the items you are creating are much higher than they were in the beginning.
Raising your weight makes nearly everything in Ark so much easier on you and your tames.

What Makes The Forest So Unique?

The Forest is an open world survival horror game that follows the events of a plane crash, in which one of the survivors' son has gone missing from the wreckage and he seeks to find him. Your character, the father, must traverse the dangers of the island in which you've been stranded on and must survive that mutated canibals that are hunting you down to kill and eat you. This game is so unique because of the manner in which the horror is brought to you. The story and fear is brought to you almost solely through atmosphere. Loud screams in the distance, a constant eerie lighting, the rumbling of large beasts, and the knowledge that you are not alone even when you are: that is what makes this game so horrifying. Combining it with survival and construction mechancis as well as an endgame is simply the layers on top of the terrifying world that make this game one of the best Survival Horror Games to date, but what games can even compare if you've run this one dry?

Minecraft is a sandbox PvE survival game that is owned and developed by Mojang Studios. It’s a simple game that follows the basic survival formula of crafting, building, and leveling up but doesn’t follow a story of its own. It does have several spinoff games that do follow a story, and it’s been around for years so I’m sure you’ve heard of it. If not, this is not a joke, you live under a rock.

While Minecraft isn’t an original concept on its own, it takes the sandbox survival concept to another level, far beyond what most others do. It’s full of all kinds of ways to build, level up, and explore. It’s a game that keeps on giving and has regular updates. You can explore underwater temples, go to the underworld known as the Nether, go to another dimension to fight a boss known as the Ender Dragon, explore caves, and build pretty much anything you can think of.

Much like The Forest, night brings danger you must be wary of and either you can sleep through it or spend the time wisely. Minecraft is a much easier game, and if you haven’t played it but you like The Forest, the experience is a very different one. They both have building, survival, but The Forest has plenty of horror and realistic mechanics, while Minecraft remains kid-friendly in design and tone, though many of the things you can build do require some extremely complex designs if you’re using redstone, which is essentially the game’s version of electricity.

While this is a very popular game I’m sure you already have, or at least you’ve played it or seen videos on it, it does belong on the list, but it’s one you’ll find on any list of games similar to The Forest, as it’s a very good baseline for sandbox survival games. If you haven’t so much as seen the game or given it a try, I suggest you do because it’s the perfect game for anybody who loves building in a sandbox survival.

9. Ark: Survival Evolved (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, PC, Stadia, Mobile)

Ark: Survival Evolved is an “evolving” survival game full of all sorts of animals, weapons, and ways to play. It follows the story of a forsaken Earth that’s been overrun by kaiju and your character, whatever you may design them to be, is a clone of humanity sent to Earth to reclaim it and kill the kaiju. While this game is rich in storytelling in a somewhat untraditional manner, it does focus primarily on gameplay.

So what’s the gameplay like? You’ve probably seen all sorts of weird photos from gameplay or promotional art that features overly-buff humans with either primitive or futuristic weapons, maybe riding the back of dinosaurs or fighting other strange creatures. While this may be confusing it is a very accurate depiction, as through the game you upgrade yourself and your equipment, going from a nearly superhuman caveman to a futuristic hunter that could rival Predator.

While this game may be a very far stretch from The Forest in terms of similarity, it is here for a reason. It holds the base mechanic (as most of these games will) of needing to survive and weather the harsh terrain, plus pretty much everything wants to kill you. There’s a lot to learn, a lot to build, and a story to follow if that interests you. It definitely holds the same ideas as The Forest, though being much more sci-fi about it, however I will have to say that it is a very difficult game in comparison.

The Forest, while it has many secret things for you to obtain such as the flintlock or wingsuit, isn’t a complex game. If you jump into The Forest unaware of there being a story, you’ll eventually run into the pieces and put it together yourself, whereas with Ark you may just do the same thing but it is much more complex as it is much harder to progress. Despite its difficulty, it is definitely a fun and chaotic game to play especially with friends, so definitely give it a try.

8. Dying Light (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, PC,)

Dying Light is a much more unique game here on this list. It’s the most linear game here, but still follows the concept of being an open world game with a bit of crafting. It follows the outbreak of a zombie infection in a middle-eastern city called Harran. You play as one Kyle Crane who infiltrates the city to retrieve sensitive documents within the “quarantine zone” working as an undercover GRE agent, but as he helps out one of the factions within the zone he begins to have a change of heart and sees that the agency he works for could be doing more to help and are choosing not to.

The gameplay features a weapon crafting system and upgrade system that requires you to acquire assorted parts to make. The game also has a day/night cycle, as most modern games do, but the night brings a true terror. Faster zombies, more dangerous enemies, and all sorts of horrors that are sure to stop you in your tracks. To counter most of these enemies, there’s one big rule: stay off of the ground. Dying Light is a parkour game and it does a great job being one mixed with horror and zombies. You can jump from building to building, run over zombies, leap over ledges and cars, and combining it with combat is also really helpful during tougher encounters.

It’s a very different game, and probably the furthest from The Forest on this list, Ark being a close second. However, what you can expect to find between the two other than a crafting system (even if it is very different), is a good story mixed with the horror of the unknown. The world is bleeding with an unsettling atmosphere. Most horror games rely on an uncommon enemy to scare you, but both games prove that even the most basic npc is enough to make you want to stay in for the digital night. The story also raises questions of your own character's morality, and pushes you as the player to do things you probably don’t want to do.

All in all, Dying Light is a fun game and for a 2015 game it could be easily mistaken for one from the newest generation of games. It’s got tons of enemies, a beautiful world, and very well-developed mechanics. This is a game that represents what a studio can do when not under the tight squeeze of a controlling publishing studio, as the people who developed it had tons of difficulties in its past with another group over them. The Forest and Dying Light may be very far from the same, but where the two align is a place that all survival horror fans can sit comfortably.

7. Bigfoot (PC)

Bigfoot follows a group of hunters who delve into the forest to find the legendary Bigfoot. While it’s a game that allows any shoe size, despite its name, it’s not a game for everyone. Your goal is to not just find evidence of Bigfoot but put an end to his legend permanently.

When you arrive at your location, you must begin gathering evidence and weapons because you may be hunting Bigfoot, but he’s also hunting you. You can traverse a small open world with a day/night cycle, setting traps and cameras to spot him whether he’s by you and your friends or not. Collect pieces of information throughout the world to see what happened to previous residents of your current location and hunt down the cryptid or let him come to you.

The game has a very similar kind of horror as The Forest does, as at all times you’ll have the feeling that you maybe are being watched. Your enemy lurks in the shadows, strange sounds can be heard in the distance with seemingly no cause, and every moment is a fight for your existence. Whether you’re playing Bigfoot or The Forest, the constant question you should be asking yourself with every decision you make is: “Will I be the hunter or the prey?”

Bigfoot is a great game to jump into when you want the horror that comes with facing something much stronger than you. Bigfoot is like an encounter with The Worm on The Forest: a destructive force that will destroy anything in its path. The biggest difference is that Bigfoot is much smarter. There’s no survival aspect in terms of battling it out with mother nature, but the game certainly makes you feel like you’re fighting for your life.

6. Don’t Starve (PS3-PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Wii U, PC, Mobile)

If you love cooking games then you’ll hate this game because it’s not a cooking game, though that isn’t a bad idea. Despite its misleading name, Don’t Starve is a survival horror game with a very special style. It’s almost like a cartoon if cartoons existed back in the gothic era, with a very bleak shadow cast over the world. It initially follows an inventor by the name of Wilson who is coerced by a strange entity to open a portal to another world. After opening said portal, Wilson is sucked in and appears in a dark fantastical world where he (and others) must learn to survive, for the dark holds many threats.

The goal of the game is in the name! You want to be sure to find food to survive, especially through the night, because when night comes you have no choice but to sit and wait for it to pass, unlike most other horror survival games. You must build a shelter, craft weapons, and discover the mysteries of this strange world as you get ambushed by dog-like demons, living trees, and bees. Bees are scary in this world and any other world. When the first night comes, you better have a fire lit because stepping out into the dark alerts the eyes of hungry creatures that would love nothing more than for your flame to extinguish.

Nothing in this world is as it seems, and fight as much as you like, the world will constantly be trying to kill you. Whether out and about with nothing around, or spelunking in the depths of the dark caves below, you will always find an enemy. The creatures are harsh but at least they can be defeated, nature cannot. The two games share this idea, in fact. While the games may look different in terms of perspective, the idea is very much the same, more so than a lot of the games brought forth in this list. And while playing them side by side is a very different experience, Don’t Starve is certainly one worth getting, along with its DLC and sequel “Don’t Starve Together”, if you are a fan of The Forest.

5. Subnautica (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Stadia, PC)

If you ask me, Subnautica is The Forest but underwater. If you changed the name to The Ocean then I would think it was by the same company and a spiritual sequel to The Forest, but to be fair, they came out the same year. Subnautica follows the crash landing of a space vessel known as the Aurora on an alien planet that is 99% water, with a very minimal amount of land to be explored. You’re the sole survivor and in the process of trying to find a way off of the even-more-blue marble, you discover that you’re infected with a strange alien disease. So your goal is basically not to die from disease, hunger, lack of water, too much water, and ocean life. Good luck with that.

Subnautica features all sorts of cool mechanics that allow for you to survive in these conditions. You must gather materials to build bases with what is essentially a hand-held 3D printer and you can also build devices that let you breathe longer underwater, create fresh food and water, and traverse to depths much too strong for humankind. The game adds a layer to its chaotic and horrifying nature because you have to think about what’s above you, under you, and around you all at once because you’re in the ocean. There’s plenty of creatures to be aware of too, from docile fish you can feed on to more terrifying explosive and giant beings that will destroy anything you bring to the party.

The world is full of environmental storybuilding and a horror of the unknown depths. While at first the idea seems like it's a basic “Minecraft underwater”, it doesn’t take long for you to see that there’s more to this game than just building and surviving. You can always go the route of building a beautiful underwater home and city, that’s always the fun of these kinds of games, but if you want to experience the true nature of this game, you must keep going deeper. There’s safety in the shallows, but little to gain from remaining there, much like The Forest.

4. 7 Days To Die (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC)

The title of this game is very misleading. Your goal is not to die by the 7th day, though when day 7 hits you may think otherwise with how hard they throw everything at you. No, your goal is to survive past 7 days. The “plot” is simple. World War 3 happened and ended with nuclear war, and the undead are a result of the fallout and/or a strain of flu. While the game doesn’t do much to tell a story, it does make up for this in its gameplay.

7 Days is a very unique sandbox survival game. It takes in an aspect that Minecraft has, where everything is blocky, but makes everything realistic. Everything has weight so you have to make sure everything you build is structurally sound, and nearly everything can be upgraded. There’s an RPG element to the game as well with the ability to obtain skill points, xp, and upgrades. You level up, you craft, and throughout the entirety of it you fend off undead hordes. The night is dark and scary with zombies that are much faster than usual, but all in all is survivable. You still have to eat and drink and maintain yourself through different environments, much like The Forest, but this game is a lot more random and unpredictable.

It’s not the scariest game on the list, but it certainly does hold a constant feeling of dread and a withered world no matter where you are. Everywhere has a creepy and liminal atmosphere and it makes the game’s horror feel…strangely old. I don’t know how else to explain it. The unknown becomes known fairly quickly, but even as you upgrade, everything is still a threat. You have to be on your toes at all times, ready to fight, but the good news is that so long as you build a home with the proper defenses then you should be good when the 7th night rolls around. On the 7th night, and every multiple of 7, the zombies instantly know where you are and will come running for your home. That’s where the crafting system comes in. This game has a lot of things to build, so much that can be done, so if you’re focusing on your home and yourself in a good balance, you won’t have to lift a finger on night 7.

While the game has a lot going for it, it also has some issues. The game’s publishing studio is Telltale Games- yes, the Telltale Games that is responsible for The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us game series. Weird, right? Anyways, when it went under for a while, it caused a lot of issues for the developing studio, FunPimps, who are the ones responsible for 7 Days To Die. As a result, the console version of the game isn’t receiving anymore updates and the PC version was essentially slowed down in development. The game also has a very janky feel to it, though it has been polished over time. Everything you do feels incredibly slow, which isn’t always bad in a horror game, but in my opinion 7 Days isn’t a game that should have this feeling. Still, the game is wonderful and even if you don’t have a PC I do suggest giving the game a try, especially with friends!

3. The Long Dark (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC, Switch)

The Long Dark is a peculiar one, as it is a strange mixture of story and survival. While survival and story isn’t a new concept, the way The Long Dark does it is very different. Games such as The Forest, Fallout, and We Happy Few have a story within their games and a focus on story and survival in some of them, but they don’t do it quite the way this game does. The Long Dark follows a pilot known as Will Mackenzie, and one Dr. Astrid Greenwood, who crash lands his plane in the Northern Canadian wilderness after a bright flash of light is seen in the air. After the plane crashes, Astrid is nowhere to be seen and Mackenzie goes off to search for her.

This is where the game gets weird. The Long Dark initially released as a survival game, with a very strong focus on surviving. The game’s survival mechanics are punishing and brutal (though there are difficulty settings to change this) and don’t really follow a story. Your goal is to survive as long as possible, and when you die, your save is deleted. Well the game eventually added a story mode, which is called Wintermute, and is not the only story that the game intends to keep. Wintermute is rather an adventure game with survival mechanics, more along the lines of Fallout (if you’re playing survival mode anyways). The story is episodic, and currently has 4 episodes at the time of writing this, with the 5th and final episode of the Wintermute story planned to release in 2023 (but they make no promises).

Another thing I’d like to note is that the people behind The Long Dark are clearly passionate about both story and survival, planning to continue updating both sides, so if you like The Forest for its survival mechanics alone or its story elements alone, The Long Dark has you covered. When Wintermute is over, that isn’t the end of the story either. They do plan to continue work on both of The Long Dark’s modes for years to come according to my research.

While the game isn’t horror in the same way that The Forest is entirely, it is horror. The harsh realities of nature are a horrific but magnificent thing, and this game incorporates that brilliantly. The Long Dark is a beautiful game in every capacity, and any fan of The Forest will be able to see the appeal in this one for sure!

2. Stranded Deep (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC)

Stranded Deep is a survival game about a plane crash survivor who must defeat the odds and survive on an island with the resources mother nature provides. You can craft makeshift weapons, tools, and boats, and explore the ocean and its islands to try and find a way back home. The player must survive through various natural obstacles from weather, to hunger, to disease, to sharks, and even some unnatural threats. Your goal as the player is to find a way to escape the islands and simply survive until doing so.

Does this plot sound familiar? The only difference in that synopsis is that you don’t have to travel to multiple islands (though there are technically multiple islands in The Forest). Even the ending is similar to The Forest’s, without giving any spoilers of course. If Subnautica is The Forest underwater, Stranded Deep is The Forest on the water…more than The Forest already is anyways.

While you don’t have a whole lot of npc threats to worry about in comparison to The Forest, the game is more challenging. Its survival is more brutal and in a way that is more limiting, as you are only provided with an extremely small island from the start before you choose to make your way to another. If you’re a fan of ocean horror but not exploring said ocean horror, Stranded Deep is a perfect fit. There is a bit of ocean exploration, this is true, but it’s nowhere near the level of Subnautica.

I personally found the game too difficult to learn on my own, but I’m stubborn when I play games and refuse to look up walkthroughs, so if you play and get stuck, be wise. Unless you like the challenge, of course.

1. Green Hell (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC, Switch)

Ah, Green Hell. The Forest of the forest. Wait, I think that already exists…whatever. Green Hell is a game entirely befitting of its name, revolving around the character Jake Higgins, an anthropologist who is searching for his wife in the Amazon rainforest. Mia is missing and Jake wants to find her.

In the rainforest, you are faced with all sorts of dangers, all of which are a lot like the previous games on this list. The game doesn’t only focus on your physical well-being but your mental well-being as well, which symptoms of declined mental state may come in the form of hallucinations. The survival aspect of course requires you to eat and drink, as well as sleep. Poisonous and dangerous animals pose a constant threat and you must craft all sorts of equipment to help yourself survive.

The game, if I had to compare it to others, is like a combination of The Forest and Stranded Deep, taking the setting of The Forest and its mechanics and pushing it even further with the mechanics of Stranded Deep. Its horror, much like the horror of The Long Dark, comes from the wrath of nature. The natural order of things is your enemy, and you must combat it if you want to survive and/or save your wife, though that isn’t required.

The gameplay goes deeper than that, though. You have the ability to inspect your body for wounds, which left untreated will become infected. To treat them you must use maggots to clear away the dead skin before cleaning it and bandaging it up. You also have a smartwatch which gives you all of the information you need for your well-being in terms of hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and health. This is something also seen in Stranded Deep. You have a journal that functions in the same manner as The Forest’s as well as a hunting system that works pretty much the same and a building system that’s very similar.

All in all, if you like The Forest, you’ll love Green Hell if you’re looking for a more challenging survival experience. It has the same outdoorsy “nature is scary” feel to it, while providing a fun and intriguing survival experience. The story is entirely optional, but a good story is always worth your time. And this is why I put Green Hell as the number one game to play if you like The Forest.

Ark: Survival Evolved How to Beat the Crystal Wyvern Queen

Like the title says I am teaching you how to solo the Crystal Wyvern Queen in Ark Survival Evolved. To start with I recommend that you have 15-18 rexes and 1 Yutyrannus. The stats on the one in my video are H30k M1400. This is done on an official server. You want to start by just whistling aggressive. Getting off of the start platform is really important. Once you get off of the platform let your rexes melt her. when she takes off to fly away whistle passive, and run to the pinch point indicated in the video. Once there whistle aggressive again and just let your rexes crush her. Wash rinse and repeat for the rest of the fight. Good Luck!

5. Raptor

The raptor is one of the most well-known dinosaurs in history, making their way into every genre that discusses dinosaurs in some way or another. Ark: Survival Evolved is no exception to this. The raptor will likely be most survivor’s first hunting mount, allowing them to begin farming hide. Due to their intelligence, they are very easy to tame, giving even new survivors a chance to take a pack of raptors on a hunt.

Why the raptor is great for farming hide:

Fast: Raptors are one of the fastest land mounts in Ark: Survival Evolved, making it difficult for prey to escape.
Pin Ability: The raptor has a unique ability, which allows them to pounce on anything smaller than them and hold it down while they eat it alive.
Pack Buff: The alpha raptor will receive a buff when traveling with a pack, giving it stronger attacks.

4. Allosaurus

The Allosaurus is one of the single most dangerous creatures in Ark: Survival Evolved because they are never alone. Allosaurus travels in large packs, consisting of 3 or more creatures, all hungry, and never satisfied. They have several special abilities that make them dangerous enough to even hunt the bosses of the Ark. This makes them excellent hunting mounts that are more than capable of removing the hide from your prey.

Why is the Allosaurus Great For Farming Hide:

Packs: Allosaurus, much like the raptor, receives a pack buff, making all animals in the pack significantly stronger than any one of them would be on its own.
Bleed Damage: The Allosaurus has extremely sharp and jagged teeth, when it bites its prey, the wound will bleed heavily, draining life points from the wounded even as they run away.
Size: They are slightly larger than the carnosaurus, making it easy for them to carry large amounts of hide at a time.

3. Wyvern

The Wyvern is a well-rounded mount, making it ideal for almost any situation, including farming hide. Wyverns can kill animals with their special powers, and also with their standard melee attacks. They also typically have good weight stats, which means they can carry a lot of extra hides. Their ability to fly and move at high speeds allows the player to move from location to location and gather large quantities of hide in the process.

What makes the Wyvern great at farming hide:

Speed and Flight: Allows the wyvern to go to multiple hunting grounds in each hunting trip, filling up on meat as they go.
Special Abilities: Each wyvern species has its unique attacks that help them take down more powerful dinosaurs than they are. Fire and lightning quickly drain health away from even the strongest creatures on the Ark.

2. Rex

The mighty king of the dinosaurs, perhaps the most legendary dinosaur of all times. Its size and reputation precede it, you will hear it long before you see it. The rex is and undoubtedly one of the most efficient hunting mounts in Ark: Survival Evolved, making the superb at gathering hide and other animal resources. They have one of the most powerful bites in the entire game taking huge chunks of health from anything they attack, and they are no slackers when it comes to keeping pace with a fleeing prey animal either.

What makes the rex a great mount for farming hide:

Fear Inducing Roar: The rex has a roar that sends chills down your spine, many survivors cannot keep themselves together when they hear it and lose control of their bowls. Wild animals become scared and will flee. This gives the rex an advantage when it comes to hunting, as the prey is unlikely to defend themselves.
Bite: The Rex has tremendous bite force, allowing them to take down prey ranging from the gigantic brontosaurus to even others of their species, yielding thousands of hides from a single hunt.

1. Giganotosaurus

The Giganotosaurus is the fiercest creature on the island, perhaps even more ferocious than the guardians themselves. Although rare, they tower above the rex in size and reputation. Many tribes will take on the extremely daunting task of taming one to use as a deterrent against attacks from other tribes. Due to its naturally aggressive demeanor, the Giganotosaurus makes an excellent hunter, perhaps the best that we will ever see on the Ark.

What makes the GIganotosaurus a great mount for farming hide:

Health Pool: The Giga, being the supreme ruler of the Ark, has extremely high stats in mele and health. These stats combined make it almost impossible to be killed by anything other than another Giganotosaurus. This makes it possible to hunt almost anything on the island and harvest its hide without fear.

5. Ichthyosaurus

For many survivors, the Ichthyosaurus is the first water creature they will encounter. They are perhaps the most friendly creatures on the island as they will swim up to a survivor and greet them. This is one of the things that get them on the list, because they are friendly they are easy to tame, and they are a gateway to the oceans in Ark: Survival Evolved!

Why the Ichthyosaurus is great underwater:

Fast: There are very few creatures faster than the Ichthyosaurus in Ark: Survival Evolved. This makes them great explorers because when a dangerous situation arises they will likely be able to escape.
Safety: These guys seem to have a karmic relationship, their friendliness is rewarded by none of the ocean creatures attacking them. When cruising the oceans very few things will attack them

4. Megalodon

The Megalodon is often considered to be the “Rex” of the sea. This is partially due to their power and aggression, and partly because of their size. These creatures have a huge aggro range and will attack survivors on site. Survivors who choose to ride these magnificent beasts need to be cautious around the eels and the jellyfish as both can dismount you from the Megalodon and get you and your tame killed.

Why the megalodon is great underwater:

This is the largest shark to ever exist and they prowl the waters in Ark: Survival Evolved. They are powerful mounts, that when used correctly can fight some of the larger oceanic creatures.
Easy to tame: Because of their large aggro range they will follow a survivor without caution in hopes of an easy meal. A survivor can swim away while firing tranq arrows at the shark and it will follow them until it is unconscious.
Pack boost: The Megalodons, when working together, get a pack boost that allows them to do significant damage in battles

3. Plesiosaur

The plesiosaur can only be found in the deepest depths of Ark’s oceans, making them extremely dangerous to acquire. However, this is a highly versatile oceanic mount and can be worth the risks to tame one. They serve as excellent warships and destroyers because of their speed and platform saddles, making them perhaps one of the most versatile sea creatures in Ark: Survival Evolved.

Why the Plesiosaur is great underwater:

Platform Saddles: The platform saddle makes these very versatile tames because you can build on them. Placing turrets on their backs turns them into a warship capable of dealing vast amounts of damage to enemies.
Speed: The plesiosaur is one of the fastest of the large aquatic dinosaurs, making it more than capable of escaping more dangerous sea creatures.

2. Basilosaurus

The basilosaurus is one of the best oceanic mounts that you can get in Ark: Survival Evolved. They are typically found in the shallow seas around the Ark, but they are more than capable of taking on the most ferocious creatures in the sea, including the Mosasaurus. Typically, gentle creatures, they are surrounded at all times by a heard of mantas that get scraps of food in return for protection.

Why the basilosaurus is great for underwater:

Rapid Healing: In shallow water, the basilosaurus will regenerate health at an extreme rate, allowing them to heal from a battle and then return immediately to the depths.
Bite Radius: the bite radius for the basilosaurus is as large as its body, making it impossible to corner it and make it defenseless
Oil: The basilosaurus will passively generate oil in its inventory for the survivor to harvest.

1. Tusoteuthis

The Tusoteuthis is the king of the seas in Ark: Survival Evolved. There are a lot of players who argue back and forth between this and the Mosa, however, the squid’s torpor and grab abilities do make it superior to the Mosa. They are extremely rare spawns, and are only found at the deepest depths of the Ark oceans, and are almost certainly a death sentence for anyone finding one, however, some survivors have managed to tame the Tusoteuthis and lived to tell about it.

What makes the Tusoteuthis great underwater:

Grab: The Tusoteuthis has the ability to grab onto wild or tamed animals or survivors, rendering them helpless during the grab attack.
Torpor: Torpidity is applied as long as the squid has you trapped in its grasp, typically spelling disaster for anyone caught in its grasp.
Versatility: Due to its size it has a large health pool and a strong mele attack, making them excellent for combat or exploration.

5. Brontosaurs

The brontosaurus is an excellent early game farming tame. They are very easy to tame (consuming only berries), and they have a large weight stat allowing them to gather a lot of materials used for construction, wood included. With the swing of their huge tails, they can tear up dozens of trees harvesting all of the thatch and wood that they can. This makes them excellent for gathering wood early in the game.

Why the Brontosaurus is good for gathering wood:

Size: due to the size of the brontosaurus, most creatures will not bother it, allowing you to farm wood without interruption.
Weight: Because these creatures are so large they are capable of carrying a lot of weight. This is helpful because when you are building your base you will need many resources, and the brontosaurus can carry the weight well.

4. Mammoth

The mammoth is an excellent wood gathering dino. Although not as large as the brontosaurus, they have somewhat of an affinity to wood, meaning that they will harvest more wood from the same source than a brontosaurus would gather. This makes them an important member of any early game construction crew. Not only are they great at harvesting wood and thatch, but they are also more than capable of defending themselves and the survivor against attacks from wild creatures that would do them harm, making them useful for multiple purposes.

Affinity: The mammoth has an affinity for wood and thatch, allowing them to gather more of each resource than a creature that has no affinity. This makes them an important crew member.
Size: Their size makes them difficult to kill, which allows them to provide their riders with some security while out gathering supplies.

3. Roll Rat

The roll rat is one of the strangest looking creatures you will encounter on the Ark, but also one of the most useful. They can be ridden, or given orders, and make a mean defense for your base against lower level players and threats. What makes the roll rat such a great member of your crew is the ability to passively gather supplies. You can place them on wander within the walls of your base, and they will travel around collecting resources for you ranging from berries to wood and thatch.

Why the Roll Rat is great for gathering wood:

Passive Gather: when placed on wander they will gather supplies for you, allowing you to take care of other business while they take care of the leg work.
Defense: an army of roll rats is almost un-stoppable, leaving them on wander and aggressive will see them crushing would be raiders before they have a chance to attack your base on aberration.

2. Therizinosaurus

The therizinosaurs, or theri for short, is a multi-purpose Ark monster. These guys are capable of destroying the guardians of the Ark and can be stronger than a Trex. They also have an extreme affinity to wood, making it easy for them to become encumbered with wood in a matter of a few swings. This combined with their deadly reputation makes them one of the best tames to have in your tribe regardless of if you are building a base or fighting the guardians.

Affinity: They have an affinity for wood and thatch, allowing them to gather more of each resource than a creature that has no affinity. This makes them an important crew member.
Combat Ability: Their ability to take on very dangerous game, makes them an excellent defender of the base, allowing them to serve a purpose besides working on a construction crew.

1. Castoroides

The Castoroides is the king of wood harvesting in ark: survival evolved. Not only does it have an affinity to wood, but it also receives a weight reduction for the wood, allowing you to harvest a lot more wood than you normally could. The Castoroides is found in the rivers and swamps of the island, building their dams cutting down trees, they are typically passive, but if attacked they are as ferocious as any of the large land carnivores.

Why Castoroides is a great wood collector:

They have an affinity for wood and thatch, allowing them to gather more of each resource than a creature that has no affinity. This makes them an important crew member
They can travel in water very efficiently
The saddle of the Castoroides acts as a mobile smithy, allowing the survivor to craft important items while out in the field.
They are more than capable of defending themselves and their riders, making them an excellent mount to take out gathering construction materials, with little to fear.
