This War Of Mine was inspired by real-life events. Some situations will require you to make hard decisions. You must keep in mind that there is no good or bad, only survival.

This game can be really tough if you have a heart. But is an experience that everybody should have. Also a great example of how important is empathy. An absolute masterpiece with high replayable value.

You don’t know where you are in this immense forest. To make it through you’ll have to learn realistic survival skills. The wilderness is merciless. And you have nobody to rely on.

The biggest challenge in Green Hell is to face your fears and keep your mental sanity under control. Of course your physical health matters too. Do find yourself capable enough to survive in this beautiful yet lethal environment? The only way to know is to test your skills in Green Hell!

You can create a shelter that will look primitive and complex at the same time like this one. It can progress and become better depending on the resources gathered.

8. Subsistence (PC)

Subsistence is a hardcore survival game that takes place in a sandbox PvE open world.

Your goal is to build a strong shelter and defend it from possible attacks or raids. There are hunters scattered around the map. They will try to bring your defenses down. You must survive the wild as well. Prepare to face hungry bears and wild dogs.

Cooperate with friends or, if you’re brave enough, venture into the wild by yourself. This game has a lot of things to keep you busy. It’s a great game that provides hundreds of hours of pure survival entertainment.

Become an expert on how to survive and progress to build and craft anything you can imagine. Shape the game as you want and don’t let others kill you!

The experience tries to be similar to a real situation where nobody would be there to help you through. Plus it can generate random new worlds for you to never leave your house again.

The character in the middle and the only human is our scientist Wilson. He reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe somehow. The dark art style is similar to Tim Burton’s art style.

5. Scum (PC)

Described as a complex simulation, Scum is a brutal PvP open-world RPG game. Perfect for the most meticulous players. This game allows you to explore deep levels of control over your character. Focusing more on the aspect of role play, it offers terrific and realistic gameplay.

Scum is set on an island where you are imprisoned, your goal is to escape at any cost. You can go for a single-player experience or play with up to 60 players per server. Your choice but the result will be the same: a rewarding development of your character.

Scum is one of the most detailed and complete survival games ever made. The full realism of the human body and the environment makes this game a masterpiece.

The story mode has five episodes to complete. And you have two game modes available to play: Survival and different challenges.

Survival mode challenges you to stay alive as long as you can. Your death is permanent.

The story mode on the other hand can be played comfortably as an exploration experience.

The landscapes are breathtaking and the survival system is excelent.

This beautiful scene is the Northern Lights. A clear guide to knowing where you are. And also a magnificent landscape at night. It is dangerous to be out in the dark but this is worth it.

3. V Rising (PC)

You wake up after centuries of being asleep. Your thirst for blood increases with each minute that passes. You have seen in your dreams that you will become the next Dracula. But there’s a long road yet to be walked.

Explore a gothic open world and take back the power that once belonged to you. Hunt your victims during nighttime. Do not expose yourself to the burning sunlight. As you belong to the dark. Build your castle and raise an imperium. Grow an army out of dark forces.

Play online with other fellow vampires. Create a server for you and your friends. Or take a solo campaign. Master your vampire skills and become the strongest evil in this world.

As a classic RPG V Rising has several slots for your items and abilities. In the middle is our vampire becoming stronger with dark forces.

2. Grounded (PC / XBOX)

What would you do if your size went down to the size of an ant? Become the smallest human in this super fun survival adventure. Face spiders, bees, and other insects that would normally not represent a danger. But since you’re so small everything looks scary and threatening. Try to survive in your backyard as you explore to find a way to get back to your normal size.

The game gets harder as you progress. New scenarios and more dangerous enemies will appear. Play in cooperative mode with friends or dive into a solo campaign. Both are great experiences. Grounded is guaranteed fun.

Project Zomboid has everything you ever wished for and more. In this game, there is no helping hand. Your death can not be avoided. Everyone in this world is walking right to their deaths. Your only goal is to keep yourself alive as long as you can. Enjoy your last days alive before succumbing to the infection.

This is a clear example of how easy it is to die in PZ. Things like going to the pool which has no other way out than the front door is not a smart idea. The hordes of zombies will kill this person.

This is a nice location for starting up a mediocre base. It is safe and secure and it offers the materials and dinos necessary for your mid-game.

The Hide Armor is probably going to be your first Ark armor that will truly give you some protection against both damage and cold. While it’s not a good idea to wear in a hot environment, this gear does its job while exploring snowy areas and having your first hunts. Each piece provides 20 armor, with 100 for a full set.

If you are playing ARK you probably know that everything revolves around dinos. You can’t really get much done without them. Here are top 10 best early game to mid game creatures to get yourself started with:

1. Equus

The magnificient Equus

The Equus is something very close to a horse, only a bit bigger. It is good for two huge reasons:

It gathers lots of berries ( via its left-click attack ), and you need huge amounts of them for food and tranq arrows.
It is one of the few creatures which applies torpor with its hind legs ( via its right-click attack ), therefore being able to knock down creatures while riding it. In case you want to use it for this purpose, you should pump up the damage stat.

This is the very first dino that you should get when starting a new game. I advise you to check the spawn zones and start in the same regions ( ex: Highlands NE on Ragnarok )

9. Pteranodon

In case you’ve got tired of walking, it’s time for you to take flight and hover above the wonderful world of ARK. For this, of course, you need a so-called flyer pet. The easiest one to get is the Pteranodon, which you can find almost anywhere, especially around grassy areas.

This creature is great, as it has one of the fastest speeds amongst any other flyers, decent damage ,and a cute-looking face. You are mainly using it to travel around quickly. Unfortunately, it has very low storage space, so you should not be using it for transportation purposes.
It has an easy taming method that you can put to practice very early into the game. All you need is a bola, some tranq arrows ,and a crossbow ( or bow ). Trap one using the bola, then shoot some arrows, aiming at the head ( as it takes bonus headshot damage ), until it falls flat. Put some mutton in its inventory and ta-daa… you’ve got your first flyer.

8. Doedicurus

The doedicurus is something like an armadillo. It’s an adorable pet that’s very difficult to kill due to its very tough shell. When his health drops below two-thirds, it will crawl into a ball, taking reduced damage. Anyway, this is a nice add-on to your base because of the following reasons.

Usually being found around rocky areas of the map, its main use is harvesting obsidian or stone. The Doed is the best stone harvester creature and it is able to hold lots of it, as stone’s weight is reduced in its inventory.
Something cool that comes with this creature is the way that it can move… by rolling. He makes himself into a ball that spins around quickly, taking less damage while in this form.

7. Ankylosaurus

One of the most iconic dinos, the Ankylosaurus ( or Anky for short ) is a spiky and fierce dino, which is great because of many factors:

Despite it being slow, this creature has incredibly high damage input and lots of health. Because of this, you can use it to kill even bigger dinos!
Its main use is gathering metal, crystal, and flint. You can not build a bigger base, or expand your current one if you do not have one of these guys.
Because raw metal’s weight is reduced while being in its inventory, this dino can be a walking metal storage room.
You do not need much for taming it. Only some tranqs and some food ( preferably Dilophosaurus kibble ). It’s not so hard to be tamed due to its sluggish walk. An Anky will make your life way easier, believe me.

6. Beelzebufo

Beelzebufo and his description

This creature, as you can see, is a large frog capable of helping with vital stuff for your Ark life. Beelzebufo is native to the swamp biome, a biome which you’ve probably stumbled upon by mistake.

This animal is useful, just like the Equus ( but a bit stronger ), as a taming mount, due to its ability to apply torpor on hit.
Another really useful thing is the ability to farm huge amounts of cementing paste and chitin, elements necessary for upgrading to metal. It is very useful to have one of these guys around your base.
This is a relatively easy animal to tame to. You need to target the beelzebufo from a distance. Always keep some space between you. Just pummel it with tranq arrows until it hits the ground. Use some raw mutton ( or preferably pulmonoscorpius kibble ) and Voila!

5. Ichthyosaurus

Let’s swap things to the underwater world. You need a “fish” like the Ichthyosaurus for many useful things.

Firstly, it’s really dangerous under the water, but do not worry!! The ichthy has a remarkable speed, being able to overrun almost any other predator.
It’s a very good pearl farmer, as it can take you to the bottom of the ocean and back quickly. Silica pearls are something crucial for the mid-game and you should consider farming them as many times as you have the option.
If this is not good enough, you can passively tame this. Put some dodo kibble in the last slot of your hotbar and just feed it. This should be easy.

Let’s talk about meat-eaters! You need at least one carnivore for the following reasons:

Firstly, this is a very good hide and meat collector, and you will need both of these until the very endgame.
The Carnotaurus is a nimble and fast creature, being able to overrun bigger predators. The good damage input and great stamina make this an amazing hunter. Pump its health and damage and you should have a nice killer in your family.
This is one of the easier carnivores to be tamed. Keep some distance, maybe get some height advantage. Climb on a rock or try to juke it. Use the usual tranq arrows, place some mutton or kibble ,and there you should have your almighty destroyer!

This creature is also a good fighter. Having lots of health and a decent damage input makes this a force to be reckoned with.
It’s a slow creature, which makes it a particularly easy tame. Just run around shooting arrows at it until it drops. Feed it some crops and there you have your own Trike!

5. Farming with stone/metal pick

Ark: Survival Evolved | HOW TO GET METAL AS A NOOB

This method is the most common one. Anyone can do it even from the beginning of the game. It’s not hard, it doesn’t require lots of experience, and if you’re lucky enough you can get a decent amount of metal ore (depending on where you spawn and how many metal rocks there are).

How does this method work?

First, craft yourself a stone or a metal pick. Farming with metal picks is a better method, as rocks drop more metal, but a stone pick is alright if you’re just getting started.

Find some metal rocks. What do they look like you might ask? They are usually grey with gold stripes or sometimes solid gold. These solid gold rocks are dropping the most metal when harvested. Moreover, around beaches, you can find some grey and round rocks that can provide a little bit of metal. They are great if you’re just getting started.

Craft yourself a forge (which is built fairly easy), and start melting metal ores into metal ingots.

4. Metal farming base

How To Get A LOT Of Metal In Ark: Survival Evolved

Metal’s weight is considered to be a problem, and you can’t carry that much of it without becoming encumbered. This method comes with a solution to that. It’s not hard to be accomplished, and you can give it a try before getting into more complicated stuff.

How does this method work?

Get yourself a flyer, preferably an Argentavis. Pteranodon’s weight is not so great, so I do not advise using it.

Find a spot as close to your base as you can find, that has lots of metal rocks spawning around it.

Build a really simple rock base in the middle of the area that you found (a 3 x 1 base is perfect). Place a forge and a large storage box inside.

Farm metal ore using a metal pick, then put them in the forge. When metal ingots are created, store them in the box. Remember to visit this place whenever you can, because metal rocks will respawn some time after you farm them. Repeat this step as often as possible.

Now when you need metal, simply fly over to the metal farming spot of your choosing, fill out your Argentavis with metal ingots and come back to the base.

3. Ankylosaurus + Argentavis farming

This is one of the most efficient and popular metal farming methods. It’s a great mid-game farming technique that is not that hard to be accomplished. This method might even be the one that you use for the whole game if you are not aiming for huge builds. This method involves the Ankylosaurus, which is the best metal farmer by far. It collects huge amounts of metal with its tail and can carry lots of them (metal’s weight is reduced in its inventory).

How does this method work?

First, get yourself an Argentavis and an Ankylosaurus. These guys should not be that hard to be tamed. Pump up the melee and weight for the Ankylosaurus, as it makes this much easier.

Pick up the Anky with the Argentavis (using the right mouse button) and fly towards a place with loads of metal rocks.

Drop the Anky near every rock that you find, ride it and start farming away.

Even if your Ankylosaurus gets encumbered, you can still move it by carrying it with the Argy. Keep dropping it right next to rocks, so he doesn’t require to be moved (if he’s encumbered)

Take the Anky next to your base and start moving all that metal into a forge.

2. Mining drill farming

In case you get encumbered, but your creature is still able to move, simply ride on it and dismount next to a metal rock. You should be able to reach it from where you’ve dismounted, so keep farming and moving on your tame.

1. Quetzalcoatlus platform + 2 Ankylosauruses

Best way to solo farm metal on the island

This method is the best one to use by far, as it is coming with solutions to almost every metal farming technique. For example, by using this you get rid of the weight problem, the complicated ways to move loads of metals around, and many others. Sure, it is a bit hard to get all the necessary creatures that you’ll need, but it’s worth it.

How does this method work?

The hardest part: get yourself a Quetz. We all know what a pain it is to tame one, but with enough will you can do it.

After you got one, build a nice, spacious platform on top of it, and a ramp that goes to the ground.

Tame 2 high-level Ankylosauruses. On the first one, put all your levels into weight and for the second one, you’ll need to pump up its melee damage. We will call these the weight Ankylo and the melee Ankylo.

Place your Ankylos on the Quetz and fly out to a place filled with metal.

While your weight Ankylo remains on top of your flyer, use the melee one to farm as much metal as you can. (With enough melee damage, it can farm metal extremely fast). When it gets encumbered, move the metal to the weight Ankylo. Keep repeating these steps until you’ve got enough metal to bathe yourself in it.

4. Roll Rat

These less than attractive dinos can only be found on the Aberration map, minding their own business and digging away their lives, unearthing gems, rocks, and other materials. It’s only when players take whatever the Roll Rat’s dig up do they become hostile. Luckily, they’re slow, so shooting them from afar with tranq arrows. And once you equip a saddle, here’s everything that these ugly, not so little, rodents can do for you;

1) They live up to their name and roll around at rapid speed, making them one of the fastest mounts on the Aberration map. They can even knock down large trees, wood and stone structures when rolling

2) They can gather quite a bit of berries, and collect loads of wood with their jagged, buck teeth

3) If feed enough stimberries, they can defecate enough to help with fertilization, ideal for anyone trying to farm

3. Mammoth

These famous elephants are only found in the snowy, northern regions, so only go when you’re head to toe in fur armor, or rest frequently around a campfire. Despite what Ice Age might imply, Mammoths don’t walk around with sloths or saber tooth tigers, but they do usually wander around with one or two other Mammoths, so don’t be surprised once you try and tame one that a couple of their friends show up for a good old fashioned gang fight. But once you do manage to knock one down, here’s everything you can do with this woolly demolitionist;

1) They’re walking tanks, able to absorb so much damage, and use their spiked tusks to dish it back out. Very handy when dealing with mobs or raiding enemy bases

2) They can gather materials by sweeping their trunks at the ground, picking up mountains of berries, and can even mow down trees to pick up wood and thatch

2. Gacha

The Gacha can only be found on the Extinction map, wandering around the Underforest, eating everything in their sight. They’re quite passive, and won’t harm a fly, so don’t worry about these lumbering things attacking you. Best way to tame them is to feed them anything in your inventory. Literally anything. They will eat it up. Once they’re happy and decide to follow you forever, here’s everything that the Gacha can do for you(so proud I went through this whole summary without making a “got ya” joke);

1) These things spawn resources! Put in certain items, it will consume them and poop out a crystal, which has a random resource depending on what it was fed!

2) They can also gather many materials, except for metal, crystal, and berries. Everything else they can harvest, which they can ingest and spawn a new resource!

1. Castoroides

And topping our list is probably Canada’s mascot (sorry for stereotyping, Canadians); the Castoroides. These beavers mostly spend their time swimming around or making their own dams in or around a water source, usually a river or lake. Now they won’t attack players unless you start messing with their dams, which makes sense, cause I’m sure anyone would start a fight if a stranger came into where you live and started messing around. To tame a Castoroides, simply get them on land, since they’re slower on land, and knock them out. It would be even better if you trap them with bolas or use a taming pen to trap them in. Once they’re yours, here’s everything this moving carpenter can provide for your survival;

1) They can gather all sorts of materials, like wood, thatch, and even stone on your travels, and these resources even weigh less when carried by a Castoroides

2) Their saddles carry a portable smithy for crafting items on the go!

3) They’re insanely fast in water, more than they are on land, so traversing through the island will be a lot simpler with a Castoroides by your side!
