One of the best guns this season has to be the Hemlock. A gun that can deal great damage at all ranges, has little to no recoil and is pretty easy to kit out. Another is the Mastiff, one of the best close-ranged guns in the game with a small pellet spread.

These guns on any legend are fantastic, but Ballistic can bring them to another level.

Thanks to Ballistic’s tactical, he can stop enemies from shooting him for a short time. This is great when pushing fights or trying to finish off a kill as enemies won't be able to do anything. Ballistic also gets a third gun thanks to his passive and ultimate abilities, meaning something like the R-99 can be used as another secondary or be brought up to a fully golden monster.

Combine these guns with his tactical as well for an easy time killing some tricky enemies.

The Wingman is a pretty hard gun to use, but with a legend like Ballistic, it's easier to use. Not only could you throw it into your sling for the Skull Piercer attachment, but its reload speed is null and void whilst playing Ballistic thanks to his ultimate buff.

The problem with the Wingman is it can't cover closer ranges in unskilled players' hands, but with Ballistic you don't have that problem as you have two other guns for that type of fight.

This gun is fantastic with any legend right now, but Ballistic makes it way easier to bring out that demon inside of this energy Assault Rifle.

Placing the Havoc into your Sling and using your ultimate ability takes this gun to another level. Not only does this thing get infinite ammo, quick reloads and fully golden attachments, but you also gain access to the Turbo Charger Hop-Up for free.

This is what makes the Havoc a beast in combat, and Ballistic doesn't even need to look for it.

It's a free buff for the duration of his ultimate, making it one of the best guns in his sling and making this loadout even better than before.

The Hemlock is the best option for this loadout in terms of your sling though, as you get access to the Boosted Loader Hop-Up, meaning you can get even quicker reloads and a larger magazine. These three guns just work so well together, it's amazing.

An extremely underrated gun in Apex Legends right now has to be the Rampage LMG. It's a fantastic gun that not many people are using, but Rampart can take full advantage of it. Not only does Rampart give this thing an even larger magazine, but she also gives it a quicker reload.

The Rampage is a gun that can destroy enemies once charged up with a thermite grenade, which means Rampart makes it ten times better.

Rampart loves to play around her walls, so using this gun behind them will give it more damage. However, you need a close-range gun to play around her walls in tough fights. That's where the R-99 comes in as it kills even quicker with Rampart thanks to her damage-boosted walls.

Her follow-up gun in this situation should be the Alternator as it can cover longer ranges as well, which is great if the Sentinel runs out of Ammo or cells to boost it up.

Moving around your walls, playing near doors and using the walls for movement is extremely fun, which is where this next set-up comes in.

If you want a close-range set up, then nothing is better than the R-99 and Peacekeeper combination. Not only does this set-up work with most legends, but it does even better on Rampart thanks to her Amped Cover.

You can use the cover to peek whenever you want and bait enemy shots. Rampart can also use the R-99 to beam through her walls and kill enemies quicker than anyone else wielding this insane SMG.

Combine this with the crazy long-range and low recoil of the Hemlock for an extremely well-rounded set up on any legend

However, Rampart takes this to another level as you have two things with this legend that make everything better. One is the Amped Cover, allowing these guns to deal more damage, especially that Hemlock from range.

Another is Sheila, meaning you have a pocket CAR SMG but better at all times. This means you can use the Hemlock for range, PK for close and then Sheila for medium. It's such a great set-up, you should check it out.

What makes these guns even better on Rampart is her wall playstyle. You can either sit behind her walls to deal more damage or use them as movement and cover to outplay your opponent in close range.

Sheila is the long-range gun of this loadout as well, meaning you can use the Alternator and Peacekeeper to shine in medium and close-range engagements

The Hemlock is a fantastic option in season 18, but is quite underrated amongst the player base. At the start of season 18, we saw the Hemlock leave the care package and get a few small changes. Overall, the Hemlock lost a small amount of damage and that was about it, but it didn't stop its power.

Using the Hemlock in season 18 is like using a slightly worse care package version, meaning it's extremely powerful in the right hands. It works so well for Wraith as you want to be peaking in and out of cover with her, so the Hemlock’s burst-fire works perfectly.

The mastiff is also a great choice to pair with this gun as it's an all-around great shotgun for mobile legends like Wraith.

The R-301 has seen lots of changes over the years, from increasing its recoil to making it harder to fully kit out, but overall it's still a fantastic beam weapon. Little to no recoil, insane damage and ease of use. It's a great gun, especially when combined with Wraith and a Peacekeeper.

Wraith wants to be doing insane damage and running in to clean up, so the PK is great for those follow-ups. Especially now that they added the Disruptor Rounds to the PK, making those instant shield cracks almost guaranteed.

Now that most of the SMGs have been nerfed a considerable amount in season 18, it looks like the CAR SMG is a standout. Though the others are still great, the CAR stands out amongst the rest mainly due to its versatility.

The CAR SMG can take both light and heavy ammo, making it a great early-game gun when you don't have all the ammo you need. Pairing this with a gun like the Peacekeeper means your ammo economy is pretty great, and you can destroy teams with ease. Both of these guns have insane damage outputs and can win you fights more often than not.

This means it's much less reliable for those one clips, but it's still a great gun in the right hands. This paired with the Wingman means you have all ranges covered and insane damage in them all.

Wraith loves these guns for a few reasons, so get using them for a better time on the character.

This is where the Spitfire comes into play with Ash, especially after its buffs in season 18. Ash can come out of her portal and stun an enemy with her tactical, making it even easier for her to spray and pray with this insane LMG.

The mastiff is here for an easy-to-use and simple shotgun that can get some reliable damage out. Ash loves these two guns, and in combination with her abilities, it makes her a force to be reckoned with.

Ash’s tactical allows her to keep enemies caught in her tether in place, and her ultimate lets her teleport to another location in sight. These two abilities have two things in common, being able to suit burst damage very well. Both the Wingman and Peacekeeper have insane time to kill and can do so in a few shots.

This makes both of these guns perfect for her kit as she can pop out, keep someone in place or teleport, and then deal insane damage in a short amount of time.

You can use the insane damage of the Hemlock to crack someone or nearly kill them, then ult towards them, using the Mastiff to finish them off. It's such a great combination that barely anyone uses, so check it out.

This gun is just insane at close range, allowing you to take down enemies with ease. Instead of pushing with a Mastiff, use the R-99 if you can beam enemies after landing on them with Ash’s ultimate. You can also use the tactical to ensure enemies won't get away from your wrath.

The thing is, the gun is still fantastic, and arguably better than the Hemlock in the right hands. Use this gun in the same way as the Hemlock, but you can also get away with using it at closer ranges for insane damage.

One gun you also don't see much in season 18 is the Volt SMG, a highly picked gun in the last few seasons. Because of the nerf to SMG’s this season, it looks like people have just forgotten about this thing. Lifeline can use it quite well though thanks to how you should be playing her.

Lifeline needs to be able to use guns at all ranges, which is great for the Volt as in the right hands it can be used as a longer-range SMG. The Volt can swap from a ranged pop shotting gun to a close range demon instantly, which is perfect for a legend like Lifeline. 3. R-99 // Peacekeeper

This setup will be crazy on any legend, but it works so well for Lifeline in her medic role. Though you want to be playing at a distance for most engagements, most of the time your team is just going to run into a fight. That's why Lifeline is here though, so you should play into that strength and idea.

Running two close-range weapons is a great idea in some teams as Lifeline as you need to be with your team to revive and heal them. This is why the iconic R-99 and Peacekeeper set-up is perfect for her. With this, you can beam people with the insane damage of the R-99 and use the Peacekeeper for instant damage or to finish off-targets.

Both guns are fantastic, and something everyone should be good with. Lifeline and these two guns are a match made in heaven, so try them out.

One of the best combination of weapons in Apex since launch has to be the Wingman and R-99. These two guns have always been great on their own, but when you pair them together they become near unstoppable. This is especially true for a legend like Lifeline, who can utilize the strengths of both these guns in most games.

With the most recent SMG nerfs, the R-99 saw even more changes specifically to its magazine size. This makes it harder to one-click someone, but still leaves the R-99 as one of the highest DPS weapons in Apex. At medium to close range, the R-99 will still destroy, which is the optimum area for Lifeline to play in.

Pair this with the Wingman to have every area of the map covered with high damage to boot. Lifeline needs to be covering her team whilst she revives and heals them, so these two high-powered guns only make sense. The Wingman is good at close and long range as well, so use it wisely.

1. Alternator // Peacekeeper

Here we have the final best loadout for any legend, and it's something not many people would expect.

Out of all the SMGs in Apex Legends, the Alternator was one that didn't receive as many changes as the others. This is because the gun served a much different purpose in the meta that the CAR, Volt and R-99. The Alternator has always been a supplement gun, meaning its not something people strive to use, and instead use it to carry attachments for other guns.

This season though, the Alternator is a beast, especially because of the Disruptor Rounds Hop-Up returning. The Disruptor Rounds make the Alternator a beast at shredding shields, something Lifeline and other legends want to be doing up close and personal.

For the first time ever, the Peacekeeper also has the Disruptor Rounds Hop-Up available, meaning both of these guns and eviscerate shields in an instant at closer ranges.

These two guns are just the best thing you can run in Apex right now on every legend, but Lifeline utilizes them so well either way. She wants to be with her team so these guns are perfect for covering them, and they also have insane DPS to allow a revive to go off while killing enemies.

These two guns are just perfect in Season 18 of Apex Legends, but use them on Lifeline to turn her into a beast.

5. R-301 // Peacekeeper

The assault rifle meta seems to be no longer a thing in the eyes of most Apex Legends players, as they want to be up close and personal rather than shooting from a distance. This means that the R-301 isn't used as much, but it's still super strong.

It's even stronger on a legend like Bloodhound as you can beam from longer ranges, then instantly run into the closer range fight with its hipfire and your Peacekeeper secondary.

Bloodhound wants to be doing crazy bursts of damage and using their abilities to follow enemies, so the PK is great for those follow-ups. Especially now that they added the Disruptor Rounds to the PK, making those instant shield cracks almost guaranteed.

For the last few seasons, it's been a pretty mid-tier gun, not really excelling in any specific category and overall not being the greatest gun. However, with its recent buffs such as the addition of the barrel back to it and a hip fire spread reduction, the Spitfire is insane once again.

This gun is extremely easy to use with the most recent patch and has an insane magazine for constant spraying. Pair this with the Peacekeeper for quick bursts of instant damage and you have a lethal combination on any legend.

This pairs exceptionally well with Bloodhound though as you can keep the pressure on whilst you wait for your scan to come back or your ultimate to charge up. Bloodhound can then make use of both the Spitfire’s crazy hip-fire abilities and the Peacekeeper’s insane close-range damage to rush and kill all enemies in sight.

With this in mind, you can use the Hemlock’s burst to get the most damage instantly as they leave cover.

Now that the Hemlock is the best burst floor loot gun, it's almost an auto pick-up for many legends, but especially Bloodhound.

The mastiff is also a great choice to pair with this gun as it's an all-around great shotgun for mobile legends like Bloodhound. The Mastiff keeps most of your movement speed whilst running so you can feel floaty whilst fighting. The spread is also pretty low now, so precise shots will do insane damage. Use this with Bloodhound’s ultimate for some crazy movement fights.

Pair this with Bloodhound’s ability to scan and track enemies, and no one is safe with this set-up. Finding enemies is easy enough with Bloodhound, but with this set-up, killing them is on the same level.

10. Volt SMG

Despite all of the SMG nerfs in season 18 of Apex Legends, the Volt stands strong as one of the best guns in the entire game. Known for its extremely low recoil, easy bullet spread and high damage, the Volt is a fantastic gun for all situations.

Many energy guns have now been added to Apex’s floor loot, so the Volt doesn't lack ammunition anymore either, so it's just a great gun to pick up and use.

The damage isn't that bad either, so it's a great gun for just mowing down enemy teams.

If you can master the spread and recoil, then the Flatline can produce some insane damage.

This thing also doesn't need many attachments to kit it out, so you can get a perfect gun relatively quickly in a match. Overall this gun is a great choice for any part of an Apex match, but is outmatched by the big meta hitters.

The Wingman is a beast of a gun but needs a skilled player to make it work correctly. The reason why the Wingman does so well is that it doesn't need many attachments to get going and can destroy at all ranges. Sadly, other guns are just easier to use in Apex so it's hard to place the Wingman any higher than this. Don't feel bad for using it though, the Wingman is a beast.

The wingman can deal insane damage at longer ranges, so get sniping.
Don't forget that the wingman can be used in closer ranges as well, especially if you hit those high-damage head shots.

6. R-301

Another gun that was once near the top spot is the R-301, but it has seen a fall from grace in the last few seasons. Overall this thing is easy to use, suits any playstyle and can destroy enemies with relative ease. Pick this thing up for a fun and easy time, but maybe check some other guns out if you want a better time in this meta.

Now into the top 5, with the ever-popular Peacekeeper. This gun is extremely powerful and easily the best shotgun in the game. Though the Mastiff recently got some buffs, the Peacekeeper got even more love in season 18.

This thing was already a demon in season 17 with its high damage, excellent fire rate and great attachments, but in season 18 they added the Disruptor Rounds to it for the first time.

This Hop-Up gives the Peacekeeper more damage against shields, making the playstyle of breaking enemies with a Peacekeeper even more viable. This gun is insane, and should honestly be used as much as possible.

Use this gun to break shields after popping around a corner, then swap to another gun to clean up the kill.

4. R-99

Ah, the R-99, a beast of a gun. This thing has always been fantastic and is still great now even after its most recent nerfs. It's the second-best SMG in the game for a reason, and that's its fire rate and damage combined. The R-99 expends its magazine so quickly, and the damage makes it a near-instant kill if you hit every bullet at lower armour levels.

It's also great to just instantly beam enemies as the damage is so great on this little fire starter. There isn't much else to say about the R-99, aside from using this thing at close ranges to destroy your enemies.

What the R-99 Excels In:

Close-range situations are the best time to use the R-99 thanks to its high fire rate, insane damage and low magazine size.
This gun doesn't need that many attachments to destroy, as the magazine and stock are the most important ones to grab early.
Using the R-99 as your main weapon is a great idea as most legends want to be up close and personal anyway.

3. Alternator

The best SMG in the game has to be the Alternator in season 18, and that's for a good few reasons. One is that this thing got little to no changes this season, and it was already powerful in season 17. It wasn't hit with any of the SMG nerfs, and got buffed.

The Alternator has little to no recoil, a high magazine count and a slow fire rate so it's easy to hit all of your shots.

The cherry on top was the recent addition of the Disruptor Rounds back to the loot pool for this weapon. In the early days of Apex Legends, the Alternator with this Hop-Up was a broken meta-defying gun, but now it's still pretty great even all these years later.

Just like the Peacekeeper it does more damage to Shielded enemies, making it the perfect middle-ground gun and the best SMG in the game.

These next-to-guns could easily be swapped around, as they are both fantastic and in the same class. First of all, is the Hemlock at the number 2 spot. Its low recoil, high damage and great magazine size make the Hemlock a fantastic gun in any situation.

The Hemlock would be the best gun in the game, if it wasn't floor loot, making it a random chance to come across. However, that doesn't stop it from being an insanely powerful and demonic gun in the current state of Apex Legends.

What the Hemlock Excels In:

Long-range fights are fantastic for the Hemlock as its burst-fire nature makes it easy to hit those shots.
You can use this gun in peaking battles as well, as that one burst of damage should deal more damage than any other assault rifle can output.
Finally, the Hemlock has a great Hop-Up, the Boosted Loader, that gives it more ammo in the mag and a faster reload. This just makes it even better and more fluid to use.

1. Nemesis

Finally, the best gun in the game right now has to be the Nemesis. The Nemesis isn't a gun you see all too much this season, and that's because it's in the crafter. Though many think this makes the Nemesis impossible to get, it makes it guaranteed for every match you load into. The gun got little to no changes between seasons, aside from it being taken off of floor loot.

This means that the demonic presence of the Nemesis can and should still be felt in the game, it's just that people forgot about it. Do yourself a favour and craft the Nemesis, it's just a better Hemlock.

What the Nemesis Excels In:

The Nemesis can speed up its fire rate by holding down the trigger, meaning it can destroy enemies super quickly.
Long-range fights are fantastic for the Nemesis as its burst-fire nature makes it easy to hit those shots.
You can use this gun in peaking battles as well, as that one burst of damage should deal more damage than any other assault rifle can output.

5. Rampart

Rampart might sound like a weird pick for a list of the most aggressive legends, but stay with me. Despite being categorised into the “Controller” legends category in-game, Rampart is often used as a highly aggressive character, with the ability to fall back into her own cover when necessary.

She is definitely a defensive legend, who does insanely well in close-quarter situations where she can make her own space, but Rampart can also be used quite effectively in an aggressive team composition.

The main reason for this is of course Sheila, Rampart’s ultimate ability that gives her access to a high-powered mini-gun that can shred through teams in seconds.

Rampart is great at pushing fights with aggressive legends, destroying enemies who think doors provide them cover, and stopping defensive plays. Rampart is also great as she can back up quite easily thanks to walls and put out even more damage from behind them.

Though she isn't the best aggressive Legend, she is highly underrated and can perform extremely well in the right hands.

Pick Rampart If:

You want to be able to push and fall back safely
Have an extremely fast killing gun most of the time
Be able to destroy cover and doors easily
Hold a position and become aggressive instantly

4. Pathfinder

When you think of aggressive play in Apex Legends, you immediately think of legends with movement abilities. Since the games’ launch, Pathfinder has been the epitome of that playstyle thanks to his zipline and tactical grapple.

Pathfinder might have a massive hitbox, making him pretty easy to hit, but his abilities make up for it. Not only can Pathfinder grapple around with his tactical, but thanks to his ultimate and passive abilities, he can place down zip lines all over quite frequently.

He is fantastic for players who want to get into fights constantly and zoom around the map freely.

He isn't the best aggressive legend, but he is damn well one of the best.

Pick Pathfinder If:

You want to be able to move around the map a lot
Push teams with a way in and out
Constantly have movement abilities up and ready

3. Wraith

Ah Wraith, every sweaty player's main legend, and quite the aggressive staple in Apex Legends. There can't be a list of the most aggressive legends without mentioning Wraith somewhere. Wraith is a legend with abilities that allow her to safely get into and out of a fight with ease but in an extremely simple way.

Though she doesn't seem as rewarding as legends like Pathfinder and Rampart, it's hard to say she is bad. Wraith is fantastic as an aggressive legend, so it's no wonder people play her so much. She cannot only phase and go invulnerable for a short time, but also use her portal to move her team in and out of combat.

Wraith is an insane legend for movement players as well thanks to her small hitbox and fluid ability animations. She is an extremely good pick for any player, but if you want to run and gun, Wraith might just be your gal.

Pick Wraith If:

You want to sweat all over your enemies
Move fluidly whilst using amazing abilities
Get in and out of a fight with relative safety
Help your team move from point A to B

2. Octane

Octane is a staple of any movement player’s rotation, thanks to his tactical and ultimate abilities. These abilities are fantastic for displaying movement but are also amazing for aggressive players. Octane can speed himself up, launch his team into battle and get away whilst healing with ease.

Octane’s tactical stim is the main reason for his aggressive power as it speeds him up whilst taking and chunk of his health away. This is a great trade off though, as most high-level Octane players will be able to avoid shots anyway.

His tactical is great for getting himself into combat, but his ultimate is better for his team and others as well. You can launch off of this and even jump another time to reposition.

There isn't much else to say about this speed demon, so go check him out if you want an aggressive legend to mess around with.

Pick Octane If:

Get in and out of a fight with relative safety
Help your team move from point A to B
Zoom around the map with insane speed and avoid shots
Push fights on your own and style on your enemies

1. Mad Maggie

Many players would assume that Octane would take the top spot, but honestly, Mad Maggie is just better as a pure aggressive legend for a few reasons. Though other legends like Octane and Wraith are great at pushing fights, they can't exactly breach a building or a defensive set-up. Mad Maggie on the other hand can do both.

She has her own speed-up ability whilst holding a shotgun, as her movement speed isn't diminished at all whilst holding one. Her ultimate also allows her and others to speed up behind it, making for a faster push. 10. HV Apex - INSANE Octane 23 Kill Game

HV Apex is a player you'll see quite a lot on this list as he is known for getting some insane games with each legend, and racking up some pretty crazy kill counts in the process. In this video, he produces an insane 23-kill game with one of the best legends in the game Octane.

Though it's definitely not as many kills as we will see later, it's still an insane game with some pretty crazy action. Definitely check this out if you're an aspiring kill farmer or Octane main.

9. HV Apex - CRAZY Revenant Rework 23 Kill Game

Another HV Apex game is up next, but this time with the recently reworked Revenant. Even before this patch, players like HV Apex had been dropping insane games with Rev, but with his new rework, Rev has become a beast in combat.

What are Legend Tokens?

Apex Legends has multiple currencies. Apex Coins are a semi-premium currency that can be gained from battle pass levels or from purchasing packs in the in-game store. These are used for purchasing Apex packs and skins in the store.

Then we have crafting materials, which are used to craft certain skins at specific rarities. Finally is Legend Tokens, which not only allow you to acquire legends but also purchase recoloured skins in the Apex Store rotation.

Legend Tokens are essential for unlocking every character in the game and making sure you can swap legends when needed in competitive play. Want to be able to test out each legend or be there for your team after games? Then you need Legend Tokens to get those legends! There are many ways of getting Legend Tokens, but they all come down to getting experience points!

5. Playing Games

One of the main things you need to do to get experience for your account level in Apex Legends is to play games. Playing matches in general will award consistent XP which will allow you to slowly level up and get those much-needed Legend Tokens.

Each level that rewards Legend Tokens gives you 600, so you will need to play a good amount to get all the legends.

The best way to play some games and get XP is to either play Battle Royale or chill out in some Mixtape. Mixtape is great for a chill session as you don't need to worry about the stress of having one life, it's like playing Call of Duty instead.
