Bug haters beware! These winged critters and creepy- crawlies with pincers will send chills throughout you. It’s worth it though, as a handful of them are worth a massive sum of Bells. It definitely requires some hunting and dedication. The money reward and rush with finding them will leave you feeling accomplished!

1. Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing

Pictured is the fabulous Queen Alexandra's Birdwing

Bow down to Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing. This butterfly is much larger than standard ones. Its wings are dressed with shades of greens and a hint of blue. They can be found on your home island as well as any other island.

Bell Worth and Donation:

This beauty sells for 4,000 Bells at Nook's Cranny
It can be sold to Flick for 6,000 Bells
Donated it to Blathers at the museum for display
Earn a stamp for it in your Critterpedia Book

Location and Time:

It can only be found between the hours of 8am and 4pm
Northern Hemisphere: May- September
Southern Hemisphere: November- March

2. Agrias Butterfly

Whip out that net when you've spotted the lovely Agrias Butterfly

Agrias Butterfly will be hovering quietly amongst an island. Wonderful wings of dark purple and pink cover its wings. If you’re in need of quick cash, be on the look out for this insect. Agrias will fill your pockets with some spending loot.

3,000 Bells are rewarded for its capture at Nooks Cranny
Flick will buy it for 4,500 Bells
Donation to Blathers will add its spot in Critterpedia

Location and Time:

The Agrias Butterflies peak hours are from 8am to 5pm

3. Atlas Moth

You can see the Atlas Moths humongous wingspan from a mile away

You can’t miss this massive creature. It’s found resting on trees in the late evening to early morning. Its colors consist of browns, oranges, and reds. It has real neat shapes and patterns layered on its wings and body.

Sell it to Nooks Cranny for 3,000 Bells
The reward is 4,500 Bells when given to Flick
A spot in Critterpedia is ticked off when donated to the museum

Time and Location:

Find this fella from the late hour of 7pm to 4am

4. Orchid Mantis

Gently approach the delicate, flower perching, Orchid Mantis

This sweet animal is a little more difficult to spot. It lurks on white flowers when the sun is out. Its body is light pink with tan tones. It’s easy to miss as it sways along with the flowers. It has to be snuck up on and will disappear if approached too quickly.

This little lady takes you home with 2,400 Bells from the shop
Flick will be happy to exchange 3,600 bright Bells for it

5. Wasp

Eek! Capture the stinging wasps before they release their wrath on you!

These nasty little fellows occupy hives that fall out of trees after shaking them. They swarm in groups and attack your character leaving a swollen eye. Have your net on hand because they’re actually worth a decent amount of coins!

2,500 Bells are placed in your pocket when cashed in at Nook's Cranny

6. Scarab Beetle

Night owls will rejoice when they feast their eyes upon the Scarab Beetle!

Six legs and a hard, silver shell clothe the Scarab Beetle. It is one of the most rare bugs in Animal Crossing. Luck is your only friend when searching for this little guy. Sometimes, it can take hours of searching until it randomly spawns. If spotted, it will be latched onto a tree and must be approached with caution.

7. Golden Stag

The Golden Stag only comes out once in a moon, so keep an eye wide open

The glimmering, golden shelled Stag is another extremely rare treasure. It’s one of the highest paying insects when found and sold. They only form on coconut trees and scare quite easily. Once spotted, don’t get too excited. Slowly make your way to sneak up on the golden god, or else you might not see it again for months.

8. Horned Hercules

Nets out! The Horned Hercules is worth more than he looks

Horned Hercules looks exactly as it sounds: large yellow body structure with a black horn stemming from his head. This big bug luxuriates on the coconut trees. This makes it a little easier to search for as you can skim the beaches up and down versus a whole island. Big bucks and bragging rights are the rewards for Hercules capture.

This horned treasure will get you 12,000 Bells over at Nook's Cranny
Flick will pick it up off you for a sum of 18,000 bucks.

9. Tarantula

Slip on your best shoes as you hunt for the mighty Tarantula!

Hairy, quick, and furious! Tarantulas are a cool arachnid to come in contact with. Only lurking at night time, they can’t be missed scurrying amongst the island ground. Tarantulas are a bit tedious to catch and will bite you if not appropriately approached. Tip-toeing towards it, he will raise his legs. Once all eight legs are on the floor again, pounce away! He won’t be a happy victim, but at least you will be!

Timmy and Tommy offer a nice 8,000 Bells for this fuzzy beast
Tarantulas can be vended to Flick in exchange for 12,000 Bells

10. Scorpion

When the sun goes down, the Scorpions come out to play!

Just like our friend the Tarantula, Scorpions are brisk and clever Arthropods. If you’re exploring during dark hours, be vigilant as there's a possibility one could be scurrying through the grass. If not carefully and slowly snuck upon, they will sting you resulting in a character black out. Walk up at a slow pace with your net in hand and ready for action!

Flick will be filled with joy to take it off your hands for 12,000 Bells

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 25 Tips and Tricks for Beginners

Hey, you there! Congratulations on the purchase of your very own Island! Paradise awaits along with wild and entertaining villagers. I hope your imagination is running on full tank, here the possibilities for creativity are endless. Before you whip out those crafting tools, let me slip you some little tips that turn out to be pretty significant!

1.) Complete Tasks to Upgrade Resident Services

Resident Services is the place to go with any questions or assistance

Upon starting your island life, I recommend upgrading Resident Services as quickly as possible. The game will instruct you on the tasks you need to perform.

Building a bridge, opening Nooks Cranny, moving in three residents, and moving Blathers into his museum are the requirements to develop Resident Services! This grants you easy access to Tom Nook's workbench and Isabelle’s secretary services.

These two are your main alibis in the rest of the game. Speaking to them is key on what steps and tasks to do next in order to industrialize your town. If you’re a little stuck or unsure of what to do next, stop by their office and they’ll instruct you carefully.

2.) Keep Certain Items on Hand at all Times

Always keep basic tools in your backpack for easy access

Sticks, Stones, Iron Nuggets, Clay, and Wood pieces are essential starting materials to craft items. These are always accessible by shaking and chopping trees and hitting rocks. These materials are the base for pretty much all DIY recipes.

Basic tools can be crafted by merely slapping together sticks and wood. Smacking rocks will give you 6 stones, iron nuggets, or clay. Sometimes, a shiny gold nugget will pop out. Gold nuggets can be stored for DIY crafts or sold for an abundance of bells.

You can also drop these materials on the ground or set them on a furniture piece if your pockets become too full. Don’t forget to pick them up as leaving objects on the ground damages your overall rating.

3.) Sturdy Tools make Life Easier

Upgrade your flimsy tools to maximize its length of use

Progression through the game can only be done by crafting and developing your island. Flimsy tools such as a flimsy shovel and flimsy net must first be crafted, but there are recipes to make them more durable to last longer.

This will maximize your ability to chop trees, catch bugs, go fishing, and smack rocks. Tools are sold in Nooks Cranny as well.

Slingshots can not be crafted at the workbench and must be purchased in the shop. If you don’t feel like collecting materials and crafting an item, stop in the shop and cash in your Bells for appliances.

4.) Inventory Space

You can maximize your inventory space by redeeming your Nook Miles at Resident Services

Beginning your journey, your inventory will let you hold a certain amount of objects. Rack up some Nook Miles to redeem the pocket organizer to add more slots to carry items. This way you don’t always have to visit the shop and your home to drop off unwanted material.

Home inventory works the same way. At first, a certain amount of slots can be filled with items. With each home loan paid off and expansion built, your inventory will get bigger allowing you to store more objects and free up your pocket space.

You can use your Nook Miles to redeem the “Ultimate Pocket Stuffing,” recipe and maximize your inventory space fully. Doing this as quickly as early as you can will be super useful when further discovering and expanding your town.

5.) Watch out for Wasps!

Careful shaking trees! There could be a loaded wasp nests perching in it

This one is definitely a game changer. Wasp nests will occasionally fall from trees when they are shaken causing them to attack you. One of your characters eyes will swell up and can be patched up by purchasing medicine from the store.

This can get pretty annoying as you never know your next encounter with a wasp nest will be.

If you don’t take medicine right away and are stung a second time, you will pass out and be transported to your front door. Luckily you can catch the wasps before they release their wrath. Just make sure to be holding your net while shaking trees.

6.) An Apple a Day Keeps your Muscles at Play!

Eat delicious fruit and build up strength to perform difficult labor

Characters can shake trees and collect crisp fruit. You can either sell the fruit for some bells or bite into it for some extra strength. After eating a fruit, you can now dig up trees and smash rocks completely.

Collect the fallen fruit and open your inventory. Munching on this sweet treat will raise your health level. You can now use your shovel to completely dig up a tree and either re-plant or dispose of it. If you want to get rid of the placement of a rock, gobble up a cherry and power smash it to bits!

7.) Control Yourself!

Slowly approach certain bugs so you don't scare them away!

Players can walk, run, swim, and sneak up on insects during gameplay. Certain insects won’t disappear if you run by them, but some bugs will if they are approached too quickly or swung at by your net and missed.

You can sneak up on targets by holding your net and pressing down the “A” button. Get close, but not too close, then release the button and capture your prey! Hold down the “B” button when crafting materials or speaking with villagers to speed things up as well.

Be courteous when running by your fellow residents. If you run into villagers too many times they’ll become irritated and angry at you lowering friendship scores.

8.) Decor Movement and Layout

Place any item you want, anywhere you want and watch your island prosper!

When placing wonderful furniture crafts outside, you can move and turn them to your preference. Holding “A” and sliding the joystick left or right will move the item. Swiping the joystick up or down rotates the item.

Inside your home design mode is a bit different. The D-pad opens a mode that makes it much simpler to place your crafts precisely. Using the joystick, you can pick up furniture and adjust it in the exact position you want. You can open home and pocket storage and select items from both of them.

Change your island and home decor as many times as you please! There’s always new and shiny DIY crafts to replace older ones. Let your creativity and imagination run rampant!

9.) Flowers and Trees Galore!

Cover your island in trees and flowers- it helps build up your rating!

Flowers and shrubbery are an overlooked component in New Horizons. By scattering seeds around your island, wonderful flora will bloom which highly boosts your overall rating.

Plus, growing the same breed of flowers next to each other increases the chance of a new colored flower species to form. New plant colors and species will attract new and rare bugs, so plant away!

Tree saplings can be planted which expands the possibility of random gifts and coins falling from them. It adds ambience too which attracts new villagers and overall star rating.

10.) Island Rating

You're island star rating will increase based on completion of tasks as well as island development

Gamers will want to continue completing tasks and developing their island with vegetation and decor as much as they can. By upgrading Nook Miles, helping other villagers, and placing furniture items on your island- your overall island rating increases.

Each star that is gained opens new characters and possibilities. After a three star rating, an Island Designer app is added to your phone permitting you to transform the terrain of your island. Three stars also grants the musician known as “K.K. Slider to hold concerts in your town plaza.

Once five stars are achieved, a DIY recipe for a Golden Watering Can awards you for all the hard work. A five star rating requires lots of time and dedication, but there's no hurry at all!

11.) Love your Neighbor as Yourself

Gift your residents with items and build up your friendships and rapport!

Villagers are a big part of the game. Interacting with them daily increases the likelihood of them giving you gifts. Occasionally they will ask for your help in finding a certain fish or delivering a gift to another villager. In addition, they can be visited in their homes.

Once you’ve initiated a conversation, they’ll ask you to play simple card games. If you guess the correct color or number of the card, your furry friend will reward you with some sort of gift. If you fancy one of their house items, walk up to it and click A. The resident will either ask if you want to buy it or brag about the piece of furniture.

Surprising your villagers with gifts that fit their essence helps build your rating. It creates a better chance for them to randomly shower you in presents too.

12.) Daily Nook Miles Tasks

Complete daily Nook Miles Tasks to earn Nook Miles that can be redeemed for items and rewards!

Once unlocked, players will have daily nook miles tasks when they open their phone. There are five daily tasks at the top of the Nook Miles app that give you anywhere from 100-300 miles. After one is completed, a new task will pop up.

Don’t underestimate Nook Miles. Various materials and items that are essential for upgrading your town require a good chunk of currency. Fishing, catching bugs, chopping wood, and even saying hello to your fellow villagers earn you some Miles.

These daily tasks are usually very simple and don't call for a huge amount of effort. Essentially you can spend all day building up Nook Miles to use for rewards, items, and more!

13.) Simple Tasks to do Each Day

Catch bugs, fish, and dig for fossils for daily rewards!

Each day the island replenishes itself with fossils, fruits, hidden items and DIY recipes. You can hunt for new fossils and either donate them to the museum and tick off your critterpedia app, or you can sell them at the shop for some major cash. Eventually all the fossils will be discovered, but they still sell for a ton of bells.

Shake your trees and hit your rocks everyday. At least one to two items will float down from the foliage when shaken. Bugs and gold nuggets are likely to appear when clashing your ax with a rock. So, keep up the hard work!

14.) ABD (Automatic Bell Dispenser)

Save up your Bells and shop for items at the ABD machine located in Resident Services

Inside Resident Services is a cool gadget called the Nook Stop Terminal where nook shopping, redemption of nook miles, and ABD can be accessed. When you reach a certain amount of Bells your pockets will start to fill up. Save up your bells by placing them in your savings account by selecting the ABD option.

Putting Bells away gives you a huge head start on the game. Selling various island items and saving the Bells puts you in a great position to pay off loans later in the game. You’ll be glad you did whenever you need some extra cash down the road for a task or project.

Once your home loans are all paid off, the Nook Stop sells an ABD machine for 9,900 Nook Miles so you can place it anywhere on your island!

15.) Bridges, Cliffs, and Path- Oh My!

Build bridges, cliffs, and paths using the "Island Designer" app on your Nook Phone!

Keep trucking along! Eventually a new app called, "Island Designer," will give you access to terraform your island. You can purchase different design patterns and custom paths, cliffs, and bridges. You’ll want to do this as it makes it much easier to cross streams and climb from platform to platform.

Your ladder and vaulting pole will never break, so you can use those to get from place to place. Crafting bridges and pathways add ease to your daily life and build up your rating!

16.) Boat Tours and Dodo Airlines

Travel to exotic islands by visiting Dodo Airlines and riding on a boat tour!

Kapp’n can be found on your island by the pier. Once a day you can pay 1,000 Nook Miles and take an excursion on the boat tour. It will take you to a distant island where anything is possible.

The foreign land could bear new fruit, vegetation life, and awesome DIY recipes. It’s possible for winter, summer, fall, or spring to occur upon arriving. Snowflakes, cherry blossom flowers, acorns, mushrooms, and more goodies await to be collected.

From time to time you’ll dock onto a night time land. Here you can find star fragments and wish on shooting stars further using the materials for rare DIY crafts.

Dodo Airlines offers a plane ride to an unknown island for 2,000 Nook Miles. These islands can be repetitive and don’t have as much variety as boat tours. Frequently, DIY recipes, good nuggets, and items hidden in trees transpire.

17.) Put on your Chef Hat!

By harvesting crops and catching certain fish, you can cook up some yummy recipes!

A delicious feature of the game are good DIY recipes. Resident Services offers the “Be a Chef! DIY Recipes,” for 2,000 Nook Miles. At Nook's Cranny, the “Basic Cooking Recipes” book is up for sale for 4,989 Bells. This puts the whisk in your hand as a multitude of DIY creations for food are in stock.

You’ll need specific material such as flour and sugar to whip up something good. Crops must be acquired and planted for further crafting. These can be purchased from Leif. He visits on random days to your island and also has a tent set up on Harvs Island. Wheat, sugarcane, potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkin, and carrots can be harvested.

Fish are needed for certain recipes as well. Once your crops are in hand, you’re ready to skip on down to your kitchen area and bake up something tasty!

18.) Plant Bells to Grow Money Trees!

Planting Bells in the ground will grow trees that produce bags of Bells!

Have you stumbled across a random shiny spot on your island floor? Get out that shovel and dig it up! 1,000 bells are lurking under the ground everyday in your town. You can place this cash in your pocket or plant them in the ground.

Planting Bells will enable a money tree to grow. It takes a bit of time for bags of Bells to appear on the trees. As long as you water them daily and keep up with it, the reward will be worth it. Either 3,000, 30,000, or three times the amount of initial bells buried will grow from the tree.

Another little trick is that shaking your island trees can sometimes shed some Bells for you to collect.

19.) Deep Sea Plunge!

Snorkel in the ocean and search for rare and vibrant sea animals!

Purchasing a snorkel and wetsuit is a must. One suited up, you can dive into the ocean and seek out creatures on the ocean floor. Dark spots followed by bubbles let you know where there’s an ocean critter. Some are faster than others and take a bit of chasing to capture. Hitting “A” paddles your character faster while “Y” sends you under the waves to grab the unknown creature.

Crabs, snails, anemone, clams, octopus, and more can be hiding under the waves! Rare ones are worth major cash and are more difficult and tedious to capture.

On rare occasions gamers will come in contact with a scallop. A quirky otter called Pascal will surface and ask if he can have your scallop. Say yes! Often there are pearls inside the shell that DIY recipes require to be constructed. Nook's Cranny will take them off your hand for a fortune too.

20.) Good Ol’ Harvs Island

Move in all the vendors at Harv's Island to unlock awesome items and shopping tents!

Dodo Airlines has a lot of cool options. Take a break on Harvs Island when you get a chance. At your pace, you can invite vendors and unlock shops in his plaza. Lloids are scattered around Harv's Island awaiting a payment of 100,000 Bells to move in a shop owner.

It’s quite a bit of cash, but can be paid off little by little with the help of villager donations. An ABD machine is set up already allowing you to easily access your saved Bells to pay off the loan. Once 100,000 Bells are donated, a new vendor is set up to move in!

Seven possible spots for shops can be unlocked:

Katrina- Fortune Teller
Saharah- Wallpapers and Flooring
Tortimer- Storage
Reese and Cyrus- Paint Customizations
Leif- Plant Shop
Redd- Paintings and Statues
Kicks- Shoes, Bags, Accessories

21.) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Save old can and tires fished out of the sea, they can be crafted into DIY items!

When fishing, cans, boots, and tires can be caught. Recycling and selling these items are an option, but some DIY recipes call for these waste products. Walls and flooring can be plastered together with these items.

A garbage heap wall and flooring, various tire crafts, shoes, and even a rare Lunar Rover can be evolved from these items.

Check up on the bin in the Resident Service building daily. Cardboard boxes, boots, and miscellaneous items can be claimed for free. DIY recipes exist for the cardboard boxes, so put them to good use!

22.) Holidays and Seasons

Holidays and seasons call for special DIY recipes and awesome seasonal items!

Who doesn’t love the holidays? During times such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Thanksgiving, your town transforms into a magical paradise.

Special DIY crafts are available only during these events. Each holiday uniquely offers crafts that can only be obtained and made during that specific holiday. Once the festivities have reached an end, the option to create the recipes go away.

The whole holiday month will send you on hours of extra adventures in search of colorful items and prizes. Special food recipes for cookies and candies can be prepared as well as dazzling fashion items. New DIY wallpapers, furniture, tools, and much more can be discovered.

Seasons change along with your time zone. Certain materials like snowflakes, acorns, and cherry blossom leaves appear everywhere!

23.) Boost at The Roost!

Warm up your insides with a steaming cup of coffee at The Roost!

After a three star rating, you’ll be able to open a cafe called “The Roost,” inside the museum. Blathers request a message be relayed to Brewster proposing an offer for him to open a cafe.

Players are instructed to hop on a boat tour to a mysterious island. Once there, Brewster is found inhabiting the foreign land. Your characters will pass on the message from Blathers, thus moving Brewster into the cafe.

Gamers can sip coffee at their leisure. Not only is it a nice little break, but you can also redeem Nook Miles by visiting the Roost numerous times. Daily Nook Miles tasks require players to visit the Roost and gain some points!

In addition, Brewster offers you a gift to show appreciation for your customer support. So, bottoms up and toast to some Nook Miles and a free present!

24.) Gyroids?

Collect all the hidden gyroids that are scattered randomly throughout islands!

After moving Brewster in, he will give you a gyroid fragment. These fragments will now appear randomly throughout the rest of your game. Whether you're sprinting on your home island or exploring a new one, a gyroid will usually always be visible.

The fragments need to be buried and watered to produce a full gyroid. It’s simple! Dig a hole and bury the fragment in your town, watering it with your can. The next day it can be dug up to reveal a super cool dancing object.

They come in all different colors, shapes, and sizes. Place them next to radios or music making machines and watch them away from side to side. Their oddball tunes can be heard by setting them in your home. There are 36 types of gyroids that can all be color customized, adding some spunk to your village.

25.) Have Fun Experimenting!

Have fun submerging yourself into a land of free will and endless possibilities!

The most important tip overall is to take advantage of everything the island has to offer. There is zero rush as there’s really no “end” to the game even after a 5 star rating is achieved.

New crafts, items, and species linger around awaiting your discovery. Nook's Cranny changes everyday, so it’s more than likely there is something you do not yet own. Coming across an island with rare items or a different season doesn’t happen often, so you’ll have to ride the boat and fly on Dodo airlines daily.

Like our strange reality is always changing, so are your islands. Anticipation for holidays and season changes make for a never ending game. This is YOUR world, the sky and beyond is your limit!

In a world run by imagination and creativity, anything is possible. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a social simulation game crafted back to life in March 2020. It’s glamorously re-invented for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite, shedding a whole new magical adventure for new and old fans.

1. Let's Play!

Welcome to your new island where any and everything is possible!

Animals and humans rule in this fifth main game of the Animal Crossing series. Players are greeted by Tom Nook who introduces the Nook Inc’s Getaway Package. Players are flown to a deserted island blanketed with fields of greenery, trees, and rivers.

Arriving on the undeveloped land mass, the character begins brainstorming ideas to design and customize the island.

Timmy and Tommy assist you in the initial process of inhabiting your island. Customizing your little character is the first step the game prompts. Depending on where players are located, they can select a hemisphere and sync the time and season.

Two colorful and excited animal residents are joined by the player when landing on the island. Each island has its own custom fruit that can be found ripening on cedar trees.

As nighttime approaches, you’ll be able to set up your campsite tent as well as the tents of the two animal residents. Location of houses and campsites are completely up to the gamer.

Selection of campsites should be chosen with care as it can’t be changed until later on in the game. Once tents are latched down, manager Tom Nook gives the first task of building a fire.

Tree branches can be obtained by shaking trees and then collecting them off the ground. You’ll pass the branches onto Tom Nook beginning an island ceremony. Here players will pick a unique name for their island!

Gamers take the title of Resident Representative on their new custom island!

A small celebration commences around the campfire congratulating your character. Sleeping the night away excitedly, players wake the next day to start building and creating as they please.

The world is at your fingertips as you pretty much have free reign to do whatever your heart desires. Of course to make progress, there are specific tasks that have to be done.

2. Character, House, and Island Design

Design and customize the exterior and interior of your island as well as your characters and furniture!

Character design and customizations have endless combos. Hairstyle, skin color, eye shape and color- you name it! You can fashion your person to mimic your style or make up a completely new identity.

Wardrobes and mirrors can be accessed with a DIY recipe which can be found throughout the island. Once built, these can be used to dress up in stylish, sporty outfits. Mirrors allow you to redo your hair, face features and structures, and skin tone.

As the island develops further, you gain access to shopping catalogs and can purchase more clothing. There’s an option at the Resident Service building under “Nook Shopping” laying out a display of various items waiting to be bought and placed on the island.

More and more animal residents are introduced and asked to move in by your character. Here you can design the placement and style of their homes. There's 6 villagers when players move in. 15 animal villagers are the max and during play will ask to move out and be replaced by a new friend.

Each animal character has their own likes and dislikes. Lazy, jock, cranky, and smug are the traits given to the male villagers while females can be normal, peppy, big sister, or snooty. Island dwellers' hobbies and styles can differ from their personality traits.

As you industrialize your town further, new business characters and stores can be built. Nook's Cranny is owned by raccoons brother Timmy and Tommy. Tools, furniture, diy recipes, and miscellaneous home-good items are available to buy in exchange for bells.

Blathers owns the museum where bugs, fish, artifacts, and fossils can be handed in and assessed. Within the museum Brewster opens a small cafe where you can stop by for some delightful coffee.

Isabelle is Mayor of Resident Service office guiding players on projects and town status. As the town expands, a furniture store owned by Labelle can be added letting players try on and sport some unique threads!

Characters can expand their houses reaching up to 6 rooms in total. Tom Nook has you covered in payment investment to do so.

3. Tools and Bells

Let’s dig right into the possibility of creation in Animal Crossing for all you, “tools.” Shovel, fishing rod, net, slingshot, ax, ladder, and vault pole are essential tools to construct your island. These can be crafted using sticks, clay, and iron nuggets. The workbench in Resident Services allows crafts to be conjured up using the island's resources.

Resident Services is home to the Nook Stop kiosk . This is your alibi to redeem Nook Miles and DIY craft recipes. You can expand your skills and make even more elaborate items and customizations.

Tools and DIY recipes are for sale at Nook's Cranny too if players would rather buy instead of crafting. Inventory upgrades give you more pocket space. DIY recipes range from beginner to advanced, allowing you to upgrade your skills little by little.

Keep those tools on hand at all times! DIY recipes are hidden everywhere throughout the island. Bottles will occasionally wash up on the ocean shore containing new recipes for awesome crafts to whip up.

Bells are the island's currency and are abundant everywhere you go. Find them by hitting rocks, shaking trees, and selling fish and bugs. If your pockets are feeling light, earning bells is beyond easy as you can essentially sell anything you find or catch on the island.

Brilliantly colored insects and scaly bugs crawl and float around the island. Cast your line into the ocean for fish and fly your net at buzzing bugs to sell them for bells at the shop. Fruit, weeds, sticks, and stones can be sold to rack up the cash too.

Nook Miles is a fun new currency added to Animal Crossing. At arrival on your island you’re given a phone which has numerous functions including a Nook Miles reward option. Miles will be rewarded by completing certain tasks like catching bugs and customizing your home.

4. Multiplayer and Online Play

With quite a few multiplayer options to select from, you'll never feel alone

Animal villagers are a hoot to be around, but sometimes human interaction is a nice break. Animal Crossing New Horizons has a massive multiplayer section. Playing with friends adds numerous possibilities, guaranteeing hours of fun!

Via local network play or online network play are the two multiplayer choices. These can be accessed at Dodo airlines when speaking with Orville. By clicking on “I want visitors,” gamers will be promoted to select multiplayer preference.

To play locally, no internet is required. A Dodo code will then be given to you.

This code can be shared with other users enabling local connection. Visiting players can’t change your island or bring any items except fallen fruit with them, so don’t worry.

Any player whose Nintendo Switch is linked and on your friends list can join the game and freely wander your island. Nook Phones “Call Islander” app can be clicked on to invite other residents of the island for Party Play.

Eight characters can build houses on the island, living lavishly. Though, Party Play restricts four people to play at one time. Whoever initiated the invite leads while the others are merely the followers. Followers' abilities only go as far as helping collect shells, fish, and bugs.

Whenever you’ve had enough human interaction, Orville will close the airport games. Friends will be kindly asked to exit the island, flying them back to their native land.

Nintendo Online play is another super cool way to play with others. Tapping Online Play opens the gates allowing anyone participating in New Horizons to connect. A Nintendo Online subscription and internet are needed for use of this option.

Orville will wonder who characters want to invite. Selecting “All My Friends” unbolted the gates in anticipation for the arrival of friends. A pretty neat benefit is that you can use the keyboard to shoot a message and summon friends for a play date.

You can always request to visit a friend's island. The same guidelines apply in the airport, instead of “invite” you will tap “visit someone.”

Choose your buddies wisely as there’s a best friends list that gives free range to anyone on it. Best friends can take items and use your tools, so beware of thieves! Friends can not use tools or pocket items other than fruits, bugs, and fish.

5. Extras and Rewards

During night, look up to the sky and wish upon a shooting star!

Anxiety and worries will melt away as you god of your island. Creation, color, and layout combinations exist beyond the heavens. One day characters may want to merely mosey around the island sniffing flowers while another day they’re up for difficult tasks and construction duties.

Whatever you choose to do, there is always some sort of reward or newly discovered element. There’s no rush to finish the game, though there’s really no indication of game completion. You can reach a 5 star rating with progression of Island and character development.

The game surely does not stop once you’ve achieved maximum level rating. Everyday the boat tour glides you away to a new island with the possibility of discovering new items. Sometimes the island does not gesture any new articles and the boat can be ridden the following day.

Dodo airlines allows you to visit a remote island as many times a day as you fancy. It does cost 2,000 Nook Miles, so fulfilling tasks will aid in building this currency. Some islands bloom with new goodies whilst another may offer nothing original.

You really never know what you stumble upon when awakening to a new day. You can always sell already acquired items like fossils and DIY recipes for bells at Nook's Cranny. If you’re already loaded on the bells, your furry neighbors can be gifted items you don’t want or need.

It takes much exploration and time to completely design and develop everything. From flower spawns to rare animals and items, seekers and searchers will enjoy this challenge of the game. Again, there’s no rush to get anything done.

Animals Crossing: New Horizons, did a stellar job at including as much detail to characters, wildlife, and 3D effects. Players will be tempted to try and jump into their console to enjoy their fantastical, enchanting island.

The Nook Phone is filled with different apps to aid your character in their architectural adventure!

The real world is evolving everyday. It wouldn’t make sense not to keep our beloved games up to date as well! New Horizons has boatloads of new content, add on games, and refreshing new features.

The Nook Phone has a variety of apps that offer easy access for users. Photos can be taken, islanders can be called, Nook Mile tasks can be redeemed, and you can look up DIY projects. Island Designer app, Critterpedia, Rescue Services, and Happy Home Network can be unlocked with further play.

An Island Designer app opens an array of helpful and quirky landscape options. Cliffs of grass and stone can be built to easily climb different platform levels.

Players can build bridges in the blink of an eye to cross rivers and streams. Layout scheme of the island can be completely redecorated as well. Pathways of wood, brick, and sand leading up to buildings are constructible!

Quite a myriad of new DIY recipes and customizations are discoverable along your leisure journey. Trucks, Ferris wheels, ponds, and even giant robots can be made or redeemed. Placement of these objects have no right or wrong place. Beds and toilets can be placed in the center of the town square if the player wishes!

You never know if winter, fall, spring, or summer is taking place on this foreign island until you arrive. Snowflakes, acorns, cherry blossoms, and mushrooms await to be collected.

Dodo Airlines allows visitation to Harvs Island. The island is bare once arriving, but various vendors can be invited to inhabit his island. Saharah, Katrina, Harriet, Cyrus and Reese, Leif, Redd, and Kicks make up the shopping plaza vendors. You can buy wallpapers, rugs, clothing items, and produce items.

Cyrus and Reese own a customization shop where items that aren’t customizable on your home island can be tailored here. Redd auctions artwork pieces, Leif grows produce, and Kick has some rad fashion items up for grabs. Harriet can style up a new hairdo and grant the DIY for easy access on your own island.

A DLC extension was released called Happy Homes Paradise. It’s up for sale via online or can be invested in along with the main game. Decorators and creatives can unleash their imagination by furnishing homes for villagers.

Clients propose their dream house idea then it’s up to you to use related items that fit their wants and needs. Outside and inside embellishments are provided. From indoor lighting ambience to outside greenhouses- combinations have no end.

New clients arrive everyday with oddball traits and personas. Depending if gamers are in a more laid back or spunky mood, they have multiple villagers to choose from. Hours upon hours can be played away in this extension.

You can bang, chop, and smash your tools , confirming your target with their loud noises. Everything is given an individually unique sound. There is not one living creature, action or resident that isn’t making some sort of clamor.

Jump into the ocean making a great big splash! Run around your island leaving crunching sounds in the grass! Listen to bees and dragonflies zip around your head! You can flaunt a dazzling smile or release sounds of gloom by frowning.

K.K Slider makes an appearance on the island from time to time as well. Once your island receives a 3 star rating, he’ll come and play his songs for the villagers. Songs of his can be purchased in the shop and played on any radio at any time.

Let’s not forget the iconic animals crossing theme song. New tunes and songs have been added to the game too.

One of the most special parts of the game is the residents native language. Sentences of gibberish are thrown together in high and low pitch voices. Your screen translates their foreign tongue so you’re in the loop of what’s going on.

Comical and amusing vocals and orchestra keep your head entertained and inside the magic of your island. With each beep, splash, and bark; gamers will be humming and swaying along to the enchanting island tunes.

Animal Crossing New Horizons offers leisure fun and a creative outlet to people of all ages!

Its melodious tunes and spunky residents keep the island teeming with life. New characters are always being introduced to reside in your town.

Each method has detailed steps and valuable information to simplify your hunt for Nook Miles!

5. Check the Nook Miles+ App (Best for Early Game)

Hmm, what tasks should I do today?

Using the Nook Miles+ app is the most efficient way to get Miles, hands down. It’s the most straightforward and accessible method compared to the others; therefore, it’s best for beginners.

Once you open the app, you’ll find stamp cards with daily challenges that provide Nook Miles. Most of the tasks are simple too. For example, talking to your villagers and selling weeds gives you a hefty amount of the currency. Pay special attention to the tasks at the top of your app. Completing these will earn you two or five times the Miles. There’s also no limit to how many tasks you complete daily, so do as many as you can!

How It Works:

Complete as many tasks as possible in your Nook Miles+ app.
Check the app daily.
Be sure to do the ones at the top to get more miles per activity.
Concentrate on completing one task at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Steps:

1. Press ZL to open your phone.

2. Scroll to the Nook Miles+ app.

The key is to interact with the Nook Stop daily. The device gives you 50 Nook Miles the first time you use it and gradually dispenses more if you’re consistent with your visits. If you miss a day, you’ll start back at 50 Nook Miles and have to work your way up again. You can earn up to 300 Miles a day if you regularly interact with the Nook Stop.

How It Works:

Visit the Nook Stop machine in the Resident Services building.
Do this for a week to earn an increasing amount of Nook Miles.
Afterwards, you’ll earn the same amount of Nook Miles per day.
Don’t miss any days.

C.J. hosts one Fishing Tournament in the spring, summer, fall, and winter. Meanwhile, Flick hosts a Bug Off on the 3rd Saturday of all summer months. Both appear from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on the competition days, so don’t miss out if you want those extra Nook Miles!

Participate in every Bug Off and Fishing Tournament.

Take part in events to earn Nook Miles.
You’ll know when these events happen when Isabelle makes an announcement, or you see an NPC walking around.

Birthdays

There’s nothing like celebrating your residents’ birthdays, especially when you get Nook Miles out of them. Unsure of your villagers’ birthdates? Don’t worry! Isabelle always makes an announcement when those happen. You’ll have to visit your villagers’ houses to earn Nook Miles, so remember to bring a gift!

Steps:

1. Pay attention to birthdays in Isabelle’s announcements. If you want a complete list of your villagers’ birthdays, visit Nookipedia.com.

2. Pack a gift for their birthday.

3. Go to the villager’s house when it’s their birthday.

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Celebrations aren’t only for birthdays! There’s more time to party on New Year's Eve! On December 31st, the Resident Services building will be closed, and you’ll see Toom Nook and Isabelle standing on the plaza. The countdown celebration doesn’t start until 11:30 p.m., but you can get party poppers and light sticks beforehand.

Steps:

1. Go to the plaza close to midnight (you could time travel if that’s inconvenient).

2. Angle your camera toward the sky at around 11:59 p.m. so the countdown will start.

3. Wait for the countdown to be complete.

Shooting Stars

Shooting stars soar across the sky every few weeks too! They’ll come the night you see Celeste walking around and Isabelle making the announcement. The shooting stars are only visible at night, so make sure you’re free for this event.

Steps:

1. While out at night, angle your camera upward towards the sky.

2. Press A while unequipped when you see a shooting star.

1. Visit a Friend’s Island

I'm only here for the Nook Miles.

You’re lucky if you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and friends who like New Horizons because visiting pals is another great way to earn Nook Miles.

You can earn 800 Nook Miles just by visiting another person’s island. Remember that you’ll only earn Miles from doing this once a day. As a result, visiting two different islands in one day will still net you 800 Miles in total.

How It Works:

Visit a friend's island
Collect the Miles from the Nook Miles+ app.
Do this daily.

Steps:

1. Go to Dodo Airlines.

2. Talk to Orville.

3. Select “I want to fly!”

4. Select “I want to visit someone.”

5. Select “online play” or “local play” (“local play” requires that you’re on the same Wi-Fi as the other person.)

6. If you select “online play,” choose “Search for a friend” once your friend has their gate open on their island. Otherwise, your friend will have to give you a personal Dode Code, and you’ll have to select “Search via Dodo Code” to type it in.

7. If you select “local play,” you should be able to connect with the user immediately.

Go to your inventory to take out your net.
Walk up to a tree.
Press A to shake it.
If wasps fall out, press A to catch them.
If Bells fall out, press Y to pick them up.
Do this for all the trees on your island.

Money trees are lifesavers, and they’re easy to find too! You’ll need to search your island for a glowing spot on the ground and dig it up. 1000 Bells will be your reward, but there’s more money where that came from. If you bury Bells in the glowing hole, you’ll receive three times the amount in four days. That sounds like a steal!

Be aware that 30,000 Bells is the maximum you can get from a money tree, so burying over 10,000 is a waste.

How It Works:

Take out your shovel from your inventory.
Look around your island for a glowing spot on the ground.
Dig the area up by pressing A.
Bury up to 10,000 Bells in the same spot.
Wait four days.
Shake your money tree.
Collect the bags when they fall.

Another foolproof way to make money is by hitting a money rock. Several rocks are on your island, but only one spits out up to 16,000 Bells. Remember, the stone spews money for a short time, so you can lose some cash if you aren’t hitting it fast enough. You’ll want to dig two holes behind your character before you strike a rock. This way, you won’t waste time moving closer to it after being knocked back.

How It Works:

Take your shovel out of your inventory.
Walk up to a rock.
Dig two holes behind your character.
Keep pressing A to hit the rock until money doesn’t come out anymore.
Collect your money.
Do this to all the stones on your island.

Last but not least are balloon presents. You’ll notice these frequently, as they spawn every 5–20 minutes. Floating gifts have random items in them, including Bells. Some players claim that balloon color indicates which items are inside the presents, but people have debunked these findings. Therefore, you should pop every balloon!

How It Works:

Take out your slingshot.
Walk under the balloon.
Press and hold A to ready your slingshot until the present is directly above you.
Release A to send the pebble flying.
Press Y to pick up the gift when it falls.

4. Craft Items

Let's get to crafting!

You may get so desperate for money that you’ll want to sell resources, but that’s a mistake. Selling crafted items yields 2–3 times more Bells than selling the materials themselves. For example, 15 clumps of weeds will net you 150 Bells, while using them to make a leaf umbrella provides 300 Bells. Also, pay attention to the “hot item” on the board in front of Nook’s Cranny. These items change daily, and you can sell them for double the price!

Luckily, crafting materials are plentiful on your island! Hit each of your rocks with a shovel up to 8 times to get stones, iron, and clay. You can also use your ax to get different types of wood from trees, but be careful not to chop them down by accident. It only takes three swings to kill a tree, and no one likes a tree killer.

Be sure to get DIY recipes for crafting as well. You can find these at Nook’s Cranny, at an ABD, and in balloon presents. Talking to villagers while they craft in their houses will also get you recipes.

How It Works:

Walk to a crafting table.
Select “Let’s craft!”
Select the item you want to craft.
Select “Craft it!”
Select “Let’s do it!”
Sell the crafted items at Nook’s Cranny.

3. Catch Bugs and Fish

Looks like I caught a whopper!

Catching bugs and fish is one of the most lucrative ways to earn money in Animal Crossing. Certain critters of both species are precious, so you want to ensure they don’t escape.

Foremost, you’ll need a net for grabbing bugs. They’re easy to make too! It only takes five branches to make a flimsy net. Then, you’ll need the delicate net and an iron nugget to make a regular net. If you don’t have the materials, buy a flimsy net for 400 Bells or a normal one for 2,500 at Nook’s Cranny.

You're ready to learn how to catch creepy crawlies once you have a net! Many startle easily, so remember to be slow and steady when trying to snag them. You’ll need to inch toward the bug while your net is raised, and strike at the perfect time.

Bugs have more varied activities compared to fish. For example, some rest on tree stumps while others scurry across water. Therefore, it’s best to learn the behaviors of bugs, especially the valuable ones. You’ll be less likely to scare them off and more likely to get the money you deserve!

Tarantulas and scorpions are worth the most at 8,000 Bells a piece, but you’ll have to venture out between 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. to get these guys. Catching these two is also tricky, since their bites make you faint. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.

I understand if you’re not up for the challenge, though. Some common insects, like wasps and paper butterflies, are worth more than you think. Wasps bring in 2,500 Bells each, while paper butterflies are 1000 Bells.

I suggest saving your bugs for the gothic chameleon named Flick. He’ll buy bugs at 50% more than their selling price at Nook’s Cranny. Although Flick appears for Bug Offs, he’ll also visit your island at random.

How It Works:

Take your net out when you see a bug.
Press and hold A to ready your net.
Slowly inch closer to the bug with the left stick.
Release A when you’re close enough to catch the bug.
Do this with every bug you find.
Wait for Flick to stop by for a bigger profit or sell them at Nook’s Cranny.

As for fishing, you’ll need a rod. You can craft a flimsy fishing rod with five branches, then use that rod to make a durable one. Like the nets, both rods are available at Nook's Cranny for 400 and 2,500 Bells.

Fishing differs from catching bugs; I’d argue it’s a bit more complicated. Be sure to walk, not run, along bodies of water. That way, you won’t scare off any fish by mistake. Most importantly, you’ll need to pay close attention to when the fish grabs the bobber. I recommend listening to the sinking sound to know when to reel in the bait.

Fish bait comes in handy if you’re looking for a specific fish. Only one Manila clam is required to craft it too. Fish will flock to you in any body of water as long as you have bait!

You should use bait so that you’ll be more likely to catch the most expensive fish. Like bugs, many of the rarest fish come out during the evening, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. The rarest ones include the Great White shark and the Dorado, which both cost 15,000 Bells.

C.J. is like Flick, except the former will buy fish at a 30% higher price and host the Fish Tournament instead of the Bug Off.

How It Works:

Take your fishing rod out of your inventory.
Walk up to a fish.
Press A to cast your line.
Wait until the fish sees the bobber and pulls it underwater.
Press A to reel the fish in.
Do this with every fish you see.
Wait for C.J. to stop by for a bigger profit or sell them at Nook’s Cranny.

2. Activate the Bell Boom Ordinance

Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows you to enact ordinances according to your play style. These are rules that the island residents abide by, and they can alter things like your villagers’ curfews. Keep in mind that it costs 20,000 Bells to start an ordinance, and it won’t begin until the following day.

Of all four ordinances, the Bell Boom one gives players the most bang for their buck. This rule makes costs go up, but selling prices also rise. Higher prices may sound daunting, but if you sell more than you buy, that won’t be a problem!

How It Works:

Go to the Resident Services Building.
Sit in the chair that’s in front of Isabelle.
Select “Review island features.”
Select “Discuss ordinances.”
Select “Yes, please.”
Select the “Bell Boom ordinance.”

1. Buy Turnips (Best for Later in the Game)

I'll take all the turnips you have, Daisy Mae!

A cute boar named Daisy Mae will visit your island every Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. She’s not there for you to fawn over her adorable appearance, though. The piglet is in charge of the stalk market! You can buy turnips from her at a fixed price and profit from them.

The turnips will spoil the following Sunday, so you’ll need to sell them before then. You can make or lose a lot depending on your luck with the prices, so I recommend this method for players who can afford to lose money.

Always remember that prices change twice a day: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If prices haven’t gone up by Saturday afternoon, just bite the bullet and sell the turnips. It’s better to lose some money than all of it.

If you’re having bad luck with Animal Crossing’s stalk market, use websites like Turnip Exchange and Animal Crossing Exchange. Users will let you visit their islands when their turnip prices are incredibly high. All you have to do is join a queue, follow the instructions, and wait for your turn to get rich!

How It Works:

Find Daisy Mae on Sunday before noon.
Talk to her.
Select “I’ll buy some.”
Enter how many you want to buy or choose “Buy the maximum.”
Select “Yeah, I’ll buy ‘em!”
Check turnip prices with Tommy and Timmy every day.
Sell your turnips when they’re at a higher price.
Sell them by Saturday afternoon, even if the price isn’t as high as you’d like.

[Top 15] Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Villagers 2022

In a game like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, where your friendly island neighbors come in by the dozens, it would be impossible to not have favorites. But with over 400 villagers to choose from, most people would think there’d be an even enough spread of them to keep any single animal from conquering the lists. And they’d be dead wrong.

15. Stitches

Starting off this list is one of the most beloved of his category, Stitches. He’s a lazy bear cub with a kidcore theme. This sticky little bug-lover definitely has more than meets the eye with him. He’s surprisingly popular!

Stuffed Animal/Child Theme

Stitches is the only villager designed to appear as a stuffed toy. While most are either intended to look like real animals or even robots, Stitches (as stated by his name) is made to look like a teddy bear, complete with seamlines, stitches, and a patchwork of differently-colored fabrics that make up the different parts of his body.

This is in-line with his house theme, which is designed to look like a child’s bedroom. This makes him perfect for a kid-themed or otherwise brightly-colored island!

He’s Super Cute

While this might come off as a given, any player that’s seen the likes of Barold or Al will know not to take a villager’s cuteness for granted. And with his cuddly teddy bear appearance, Stitches has cuteness in abundance! Other players definitely agree since they often trade for Stitches online for as much as 2 million bells (in-game currency) or more!

He Gives You Art

One of the many perks of having a lazy personality type villager is that they have a tendency to send the player art pieces at random intervals through the mail. While smug and jock type villagers also do this, lazy types and jock types will occasionally give you genuine pieces- something extremely useful to the player, since genuine pieces are annoyingly difficult to come by, whereas smug villagers will only ever send fakes. Anyone interested in completing the art gallery in their museum will love these villagers!

14. Quinn

Next on our list is Quinn, a lovely purple eagle. She's amongst the 16 new villagers that came from the 2.0 update, which naturally gave her plenty of attention. Unsurprisingly, her cool style and novelty aren't the only things she has to offer.

A Rare Personality

Quinn is a sisterly type villager, one of the two newest personality types introduced by Nintendo in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. As such, this and the other category, the smug type, have the least villagers even after Nintendo repurposed other villagers to give them this new personality for its launch. Since different personality types have different dialogue and will give you different reaction options, it's very important and helpful to have one of each type on your island at least once.

Free Medicine

Ever gotten stung by wasps, only to realize you don't have enough bells to even buy medicine? Well, worry no more! As part of her sisterly nature, Quinn will provide you with free medicine if you speak to her after being stung.

Aesthetic

Whether you're creating a modern city build, a goth haven, or a haunted spook-themed island, Quinn's simple modern black and purple home will fit right in. This versatile style is good even for islands without themes.

Late Nights

All of the villagers have sleep schedules that differ according to personality. Sisterly villagers wake up the latest and stay up the second latest. This is good for anyone whose schedule only allows them to play very late (or early) since it means there’s at least one villager awake to keep them company.

13. Audie

Audie is a peppy wolf villager with a tropical style. She’s a new villager whose only appearance in the franchise so far is New Horizons. It’s commonly believed that she was named after an elderly woman who went viral online for playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Cute

As stated before, cuteness isn't actually as abundant in the Animal Crossing franchise as expected. It's important to recognize it when and where it's available. Audie is a perfect example of a cute wolf villager players want on their islands!

High Seller

Because she's both fairly new and adorable, many people are willing to buy or trade for her at high prices. So for those more interested in the New Horizons markets than in a new neighbor, she's an ideal guest for your island. It might be a short stay, but it’ll certainly be profitable!

Her Aesthetic

Considering Animal Crossing: New Horizons does indeed take place on an island, it makes sense that some players decide to make their island a tropical-themed resort for them and their villagers. Audie makes a perfect neighbor in that case, with both her clothes and her house being tropical vacation-themed. Even her fur is a lovely shade of sunset orange, to fit the tropical sunset!

12. Marlo

Marlo is a cranky hamster villager. He's part of the newest batch of villagers from the 2.0 update. Unsurprisingly, the novelty makes him quite popular, despite looking like someone’s stuffy old neighbor.

A Gentlemanly Aesthetic

Both Marlo and his home have a classic theme, which can appeal to those who want a city or even a vintage aesthetic for their islands. With his tiny glasses and suit, he makes a great companion for Raymond. Or even for a sophisticated Resident Representative!

Sells Well

While all of the villagers on this list sell well, as a 2.0 update villager, Marlo sells exceptionally high. It's always worth mentioning when someone can get their bells' worth from an investment. He goes for an average of 2.5 million bells, which is better than most villagers.

Free Medicine

Like the sisterly villagers, cranky types will provide the player with free medicine if spoken to after the player is stung. This provides the player with another free source of medicine to save some money or at least a walk to the store for it. Since sometimes it’s hard to find a specific villager on your island, having multiple available to give you medicine is a good strategy.

Night Owl

As stated before, villagers have different sleep schedules according to their personalities. As a cranky villager, Marlo sleeps at 3:30 AM, the latest out of all the personality types. This can be good for those who like to go wasp-hunting at odd hours of the night.

11. Roswell

Like Quinn and Marlo, Roswell is yet another new villager. He's a lazy alligator, and one of those villagers that makes you appreciate your cute villagers more. Sorry, Roswell!

He's New

Fortunately, his novelty as a new villager is enough for people to be willing to trade for or purchase him for their islands, if only for now. The Aesthetic

While neither he nor his home is all that cute, aesthetically speaking, he certainly is useful. His house takes on the appearance of a junkyard or abandoned city lot of some kind, which can be helpful to players who intend to make a city island. Being a mute-toned alligator, Roswell could also fit in a swamp-themed island, though players who want total congruence might want to remodel his home to suit their needs.

As stated before, the villagers on this list are all metaphorical gold mines. Ankha herself was previously in the top three of villagers who sold for the most on average. Any tradesman worth their bells would know she's a sure and solid investment to make.

9. Marshal

Next is Marshal, a smug squirrel villager. It's already a given that he's incredibly adorable, which is one of the main reasons he's on this list. However, that’s not all he has going for him.

Rare Personality

Aside from his cuteness is his personality. As a smug villager, he's part of a newer personality category, which offers a new set of unique dialogue options. Smug is also one of the categories that have the least villagers other than the sisterly type, which makes him much more valuable.

Modern Home

While it's now possible to remodel villager homes if you own the Paradise Planning DLC, not everyone can or wants to purchase it. So Marshal's house having a modern and simple style is very appealing for many people, especially those who want to make city or small town islands.

Free Art

While it's been previously established that smug villagers only give out fake art, some people might not mind. Whether it's for their own collection or something else, some players are just as happy with fake art as they are with genuine art, which makes Marshal and other smug villagers a great resource for free art.

8. Petri

Petri is a snooty mouse villager. Like many on this list, she's part of the newest group of villagers released in the 2.0 update. While this certainly contributed to her popularity, there are some other perks to her.

Cute

Beginning with the most obvious one, Petri is quite cute. This is a bonus for anyone who wants to select only the cutest villagers for their island. While some might not find the mismatched ears very cute, her tiny stature and giant glasses more than make up for it anyway.

Unique Aesthetic

While many villagers come with a ‘sophisticated’ look, Petri is the only villager with a doctor/scientist aesthetic. Aside from her adorable white coat and giant glasses, her house is also decorated to look like a doctor’s office or scientist’s laboratory, complete with a suspicious giant science pod in one corner. If you purchase the Paradise Planning DLC and make a vacation home for Petri, she will automatically be selected as the doctor for the hospital after it’s completed.

New Villager

As a new villager, not only is she highly desirable on the market, but she garners a fair amount of notoriety for people with her on her island. The same could be said with any of the new 2.0 villagers, but most especially for the cuter ones, some of which will be encountered further on this list. Players that like sharing pictures and videos of their island online might find a boost in engagement with Petri in their posts.

7. Faith

Yet another new villager, though this one is unique in the sense that she’s actually a returning villager. Faith is a sisterly villager that first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the 16 new villagers released during the 2.0 update.

Nostalgia

As previously stated, Faith is a returning villager. She first appeared in the franchise as a normal villager in the original Animal Crossing game known as Animal Forest which was only released in Japan, before disappearing from the franchise two games later, after Animal Forest e+.

She reappeared in Pocket Camp and New Horizons with her new sisterly personality. While many New Horizons players have either never played an Animal Crossing game before the latest installment or have only played a few of the previous ones, those who know and love Faith will be pleased to have her again on their island.

Nostalgia isn’t the only thing to recommend Faith. She also comes with a lovely beach aesthetic in both her clothes and home, which is perfect for anyone with a tropical island or even just a tropical section on their island. She comes complete with an adorable and fitting catchphrase, “aloha”!

As a sisterly villager, Faith will give the player free medicine upon being stung by wasps. While it’s noted that speaking to any villager after a wasp sting grants the player the chance of gaining a DIY recipe for medicine, it is still useful to have someone provide medicine for you, especially if you intend to use the material (a single wasp hive) for other DIY projects. Therefore, it’s still helpful to have a lovely sisterly villager like Faith around.

Night Owl

Sisterly villagers like Faith wake up the latest out of all the villagers (yes, even the lazies!) and go to sleep the second-latest, bested only by the cranky villagers. Though 9:30 AM isn’t that late to wake up, going to bed at 3:00 AM is certainly very late to go to sleep. However, this can be useful for anyone who plays at very late or early hours, whether it’s for some company or for free medicine since Nook’s Cranny closes at 10:00 PM.

6. Judy

Judy is a snooty bear cub villager. With her incredibly cute appearance and small stature (as bear cubs are very short), it is unsurprising that she’s among the top 6 of 400+ villagers available to players in New Horizons.

Cute

Unsurprisingly, this is one of her highest selling points. Cuteness is one of the main reasons for many villagers’ popularity, and this is especially the case with Judy. She is often seen at the top of many players’ favorites lists, despite having a snooty personality. This is definitely due to her cuteness.

Unique Appearance

Part of the appeal of Judy’s cute appearance is its uniqueness. No other villagers have big sparkly eyes like Judy’s. Her fur color, an ombre/tie-dye style mix of pastel pink, blue, and purple is unlike any other villager in any of the franchise’s installments.

The Aesthetic

Judy isn’t the only thing that’s cute and pastel. Her home matches her scheme very well, looking much like a room that came out of a child’s dream. This makes it a great fit for islands with fairy core, princess, dreamlike, or otherwise sparkly and pastel themes. Judy herself fits those themes as well, from her snooty personality giving her a love for make-up to her appearance making her look as if she’s stepped out of a fairytale or coloring book.

5. Sasha

Yet another new villager from the 2.0 release, Sasha is a lazy rabbit villager. While this may come as a surprise for some readers (as it definitely did for some players upon the amiibo releases), Sasha is actually a male villager.

Unbelievably Adorable

As previously stated, Sasha is a male villager, which came as quite a shock for many of the English-speaking community of New Horizons. This is in part because of his name but mostly because of his appearance since Sasha is short for Alexander in Russian but is often used as a girl’s name in North America. He’s so cute that many assumed he was a peppy or normal female villager. This makes him very appealing to many players, especially the ones who love cute villagers the most. Male villagers this cute are very hard to come by, so those who want to expand their neighborhood should consider Sasha!

Free Art

As a lazy villager, Sasha gives the player free art at random intervals that have the chance of being genuine pieces. This makes him valuable since without the collective at Harv’s island, Redd can be hard to find. He also doesn’t always have genuine art for sale, even after players gather enough money to bring him to Harv’s island. This makes lazy villagers like Sasha very helpful for finding art for the player’s island museum.

A Good Home Design

Sasha’s home turns out to be just as cute as he is. The interior design holds a similar aesthetic to Judy’s, with pale shades and the same polka-dotted floor. His room focuses more on stuffed animals than stars and wooden blocks, which is Judy’s focus. This similarly soft scheme is a great option for players with islands with themes involving pastels and stuffed toys.

4. Tiansheng

Part of the new group of villagers released to New Horizons in the 2.0 update, Tiansheng is a jock monkey villager modeled after the legendary Sun Wukong from the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. His name comes from Sun Wukong’s self-given title, “Qí Tiān Dà Shèng”, meaning “The Great Sage, Heaven’s Equal”. His connection to Sun Wukong is further displayed in his catchphrase, “wuwu”.

Home Design

Tiansheng’s home is designed to look like a restaurant kitchen on the inside. This makes his house a great option for someone who wants a restaurant on their island but doesn’t want to put one in their home. And while some might prefer to use the Paradise Planning DLC to remodel another villager’s home instead, some players might not want to do that. Others still might not have access to the Paradise Planning DLC and are incapable of remodeling villager homes because of that.

Free Art

As briefly mentioned before, lazy villagers aren’t the only ones who give the player free art. While smug villagers will also give you art, their gifts are always fake. Jocks and lazies are the ones who run the chance of gifting you genuine art pieces. With these gifts coming at random times, it can be helpful to have more villagers that will give these kinds of gifts. This makes Tiansheng a useful villager, even if a player already has a lazy or two on their island.

Unique Appearance

Tiansheng’s Sun Wukong inspiration is very clear in his appearance. His crown design is reminiscent of the crown Sun Wukong also wore in the novel. His design and background inspiration makes him great for an island involving traditional Chinese themes or even a fable-themed island.

3. Ione

As you probably know by now, Ione is part of the newest batch of villagers released by Nintendo just last fall. She’s a normal personality type squirrel villager with an adorable look.

A Glow

Something you might not know (unless you’ve had the luck of seeing her at night) is that Ione glows in the dark. That alone would’ve been enough to put her on this list. She’s the first villager to do so, and with her theme, this only makes her better.

Unique Theme

Ione is apparently a trend-setter. She’s not just the first to glow in the dark; she’s also the first villager with a space/star-related theme. Those who love space or have an astrology-themed island will love her.

Adorable

This might seem like a given, but if you’ve ever seen Barold or Al, you’d know that not every villager is fortunate in this department. Cuteness in a game like Animal Crossing can sometimes be taken for granted, but those two are sure to remind you to be grateful when you have an adorable Ione on your island!

Early Bird

As a normal villager, Ione wakes up the earliest out of any other type of villager. Normal villagers wake up at 6 AM and go to bed at 12 AM, which is only later than the lazy villagers. This makes her a great villager for players who wake up early and would like company until the shops open.

2. Raymond

Previously the number one most popular villager, Raymond is a smug gray cat that was introduced during New Horizons' initial release.

Rarity

As established, Raymond is a smug cat villager. This alone is appealing to many players since the smug personality type is the newest and least common male personality, which can be refreshing for those who have played Animal Crossing games before. But above his personality, Raymond was also considered difficult to obtain.

Because New Horizons was his first appearance in the franchise, no amiibo cards were produced for him yet. This meant that the only way for a player to obtain him was to either come across him at their island’s campsite or to speak to him as he was moving out of another player’s island, leading to a rise in his popularity.

Home Design

Raymond’s home is designed to look like the inside of an office. This is a surprisingly versatile style that can be used for all kinds of islands, from modern city-themed ones to those without a theme. If players want Raymond on their island but don’t like his house design, they can always remodel it to suit their desires so long as they have the Paradise Planning DLC.

A Good Investment

Though it’s perhaps to be expected, being one of the most popular Animal Crossing villagers ever means many people are willing to offer a lot of money just to have him on their islands. Some have even gone as far as to offer real-world currency for access to him.

On average, Raymond will regularly sell for about 10 million bells, though he’s certainly gone for much higher. This makes Raymond a great investment for those trying to make lots of money at once.

Unique Eyes

Raymond is the only villager as of the creation of this article with heterochromia, otherwise known as having two different eye colors. Raymond has one brown eye and one green eye.

This unique trait makes him stand out to many people within the player base, increasing interest in him. Players looking for characters with individuality would want to consider him for their islands.

Free (Fake) Art

As a smug villager, Raymond will occasionally give the player art through the mailbox. However, smug villagers only ever give fake art, which means it cannot be donated or even sold.

Fake art can only be used for decoration. This can seem like a negative for some, but others might not find a problem with it if they only intend to use the art pieces for display around their islands.

1. Shino

Knocking the king himself off the pedestal is none other than Shino! Our newest peppy addition is a deer whose adorable face took the Animal Crossing community by storm from her very first two-second appearance in the 2.0 trailer last fall. Almost a full year later, she still sells for an average of 10.5 million bells (the in-game currency) on Nookazon, the fan-run trading site for any and all tradeable items (including villagers).

Two Themes

Shino pulls double-duty with being suitable for two popular themes for New Horizons islands: spooky and traditionally Japanese, something most villagers don’t do. Her birthday is also on Halloween, which hammers home her ‘demon deer’ spook factor! Whether it’s for one theme or another, Shino is a perfect fit for many islands!

The Horns

It’s a happy coincidence that this newest batch came with a lot of firsts: the first glow-in-the-dark villager, and the first female deer villager with horns- devil horns, at that. Shino’s long, bright red horns are unique and arguably very cute.

Since she’s also the only female deer villager with horns, even those who don’t know most of the villagers paid fast attention to her cameo in the trailer. Like Sasha, there was even a bit of a debate online as to her gender because of how unusual it was for her to have horns, but anyone who paid attention to the release pattern or the international names already knew that Shino is indeed a female deer. Yoshino, her original name in the Japanese version, is a primarily female name.

A Striking Appearance

Her mix of bright red horns and traditional Japanese eye makeup gives her a unique and iconic look. Anyone who likes unique appearances or specific themes would be more than happy to have her on their island! It’s little wonder that she gained more notoriety than even Raymond in that respect, as compared to his heterochromia, her horns and makeup are harder to miss.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most successful games of 2020. Everyone who’s even a little into decorating or hanging out with cute animal friends knows and loves it. After the 2.0 update, players can now remodel their villagers’ homes as long as they own the Paradise Planning DLC.

But not everyone can afford extra content, and sometimes we’re just a little too lazy. So here are some of the best-looking villager houses of New Horizons!

10. Melba’s House

Melba's House

Starting off our list is Melba’s house! Melba is an adorable brown koala. She’s a normal-type villager whose house mostly consists of blue, white, and green.

Aesthetic

Melba’s house doesn’t technically have a particular aesthetic. She has a color scheme- as any good house should- but for the most part, it’s just a simple home with some plant-related decor.

Still, this might be appealing to players, especially those that want fairly realistic or themeless homes for their islands. Out of all the themeless, simple homes, Melba’s is the best, which puts her as their representative on this list.

Color Scheme

This one-room house consists mostly of white and various shades of green, with the occasional accent of yellow thrown in. It’s a bit ironic for a koala, whose only contact with green in the real world is eucalyptus, but it’s both a consistent and pleasant look altogether. None of the colors are particularly bright, so it gives the room a calming vibe.

Adaptable

Because Melba’s house doesn’t really have a theme, it can work with a variety of islands. Beach islands would love its clay and straw hut exterior.

Islands without themes would love her neighborly vibe. Desert islands could place it in their dunes without a single concern. Whatever the island looks like, chances are Melba’s house will fit right in!

Number 9 is Ankha’s house! Ankha is an Egyptian-themed snooty cat villager. Her name is derived from the Egyptian ankh. While her house’s placement on this list might surprise a lot of readers, I promise it makes sense.

Unique

Ankha’s house is incredibly unique. The only other villager with an Egyptian-themed house is Boris, a pig villager.

Her house’s exterior is a normal yellow clay hut with dark shingles, but the interior consists mostly of gold and features several expensive items. While the uniqueness can appeal to players who want villagers who stand out, being so specific makes it difficult to fit this home into most islands, which is why she is, unfortunately, lower on this list.

Expensive Yet Simple

This is a more conflicting benefit. Some people would love their villagers to have homes decked out in luxury items, while others prefer homes with less furnishing and a simpler feel. Few like both combined.

Ankha’s home is sparsely furnished, but everything in it is solid gold or at least expensive. This point is mostly for those that are okay with both.

Gets You Attention

At the very least, Ankha herself is still very popular. And she can’t be on your island without a house! It can still be fun to snap some pictures of the two of you on your island together and post them online for some likes!

8. Kody’s House

Next is Kody! Kody is a jock-type blue cub. This might come as a surprise since his home focuses on throwback and kidcore-themed furniture, which is mostly associated with lazy types. For those that like blue, you’re in luck! Kody’s home is as blue as he is.

Aesthetic

Kody’s home focuses on retro and kidcore themes. The main furniture set used is the throwback set. The kidcore twist comes from the polka-dotted flooring, the playroom wallpaper, and the throwback race-car bed.

This combination gives his room the look of a retro kid’s room. Anyone interested in throwback, retro, or kidcore-themed houses would love Kody’s house!

Colors

The main color of Kody’s house is blue. There are very few accents of anything else.

Somehow, this doesn’t actually look bad, since they used a variety of shades instead of just one. This keeps the room looking less monotonous and still interesting.

Cheap

While not everyone is willing to purchase an amiibo card or wait for their perfect villager to show up at their campsite, it’s also time-consuming and generally a huge gamble to go villager hunting on Nook mile islands. Aside from the large in-game price it would cost for the number of tickets needed to island-hop until you found the one specific villager you wanted out of over 400 of them, not everyone is patient enough to try.

This is what makes online trading so popular. Kody isn’t a disliked villager, but as one of the many, he’s much cheaper to trade for than many of the more popular ones. This makes him a great option for players trying to save a few bells!

7. Cookie’s House

Number 7 is Cookie! Cookie is a peppy dog villager. She and her house are as pink as Kody is blue!

Players who love pink, energetic villagers, or even dogs will like her. Anyone interested in starting a color-coded island might want to bring Cookie and Kody along!

Aesthetic

Cookie’s home is a simple modern-style room. It’s very cutesy, in part from the main furniture set used in her house being the Cute furniture set. However, it’s not overly cutesy and pink in a way that would make people gag. Cookie’s house is more like the cute bedroom of a young girl.

Color Scheme

The color palette of Cookie’s house is fairly simple. It’s almost entirely pink and white with very little else. From white floorboards to the pink quilt walls, the only noticeable color variation is the occasional yellow of the quilt. Even the exterior is faded pink and cream-white. However, there’s enough white with all the pink to make it cute instead of obnoxious, and the soft blush color keeps the room from hurting your eyes. All in all, a very cute room for a very cute dog!

Adaptable

Because Cookie’s house is a fairly tasteful take on a cutesy home, it’s able to pass as a normal house without a theme. This makes her house compatible with many different islands and themes. Players won’t have to worry about Cookie’s house if they decide to change up their island!

6. Judy’s House

Up next is Judy’s house! Judy is a pastel multicolored cub. She’s a snooty-type villager who’s popular for her fairycore cutesy design.

Aesthetic

Judy’s house happens to be just as cute as her! With plenty of pastel and stars everywhere, she’s popular amongst fairycore islands and islands without themes alike. There are very few people who don’t like this eye-catching house!

Cohesive

Judy’s house features mostly wooden block furniture in matching pastels with star patterned lights and wallpaper. Having most of her furniture from the same furniture sets creates cohesion in the home’s design. It gives it a unified look with perfectly matching shades and styles of furniture.

Simple Exterior

While many players might not consider the exterior of a villager’s house unless they were honing in on a very particular theme- for example, a Japanese island- it can be pretty important in the grand scheme of your island. Building neighborhoods or giant yards for your villagers will only bring everyone’s attention to how wildly out-of-place a specific house might seem.

Visitors to your cyberpunk island might not know what to make of a clay hut. But with a pale blue brick exterior and wooden shingles, Judy’s home looks nice on its own, and will only be a benefit to a fair amount of neighborhoods.

Marking the halfway point of this list is Petri! Petri is a snooty-type mouse villager with a scientist theme. As one of the batch of 16 new villagers introduced in the 2.0 update, she’s super popular. It’s believed that she’s named after either petri dishes or the man who invented them.

Aesthetic

On the outside, Petri’s home is a simple white clay hut with pale thatched roofing and a blue rustic door. However, the inside is a laboratory befitting this little mouse’s nerdy dreams. The tiny kitchen area is overshadowed by the laboratory wallpaper and the giant science pod sporting a floating lucky cat.

Despite being such a specific theme, it’s surprisingly versatile; with its simple exterior, it could be put on most islands. The lab, on the other hand, could be used for all sorts of purposes- from a quirky doctor’s office to an evil mad scientist lair.

Talk of the Town

Though the 2.0 update came and went back in the fall of 2021, a lot of the content it brought with it is still considered new and exciting. Villagers are on the top of that list. Though it won’t be to the same level of hype as the first few months, posting pictures of Petri on your island is still bound to get you some attention.

Next is Marcel’s house. Marcel is a lazy-type dog villager. His appearance is inspired by Marcel Moreau, a French mime. However, his house follows a traditional Japanese theme instead.

Marcel’s house has a traditional Japanese theme. This makes him appealing to players despite his personal appearance because the traditional Japanese theme is extremely popular amongst the Animal Crossing community.

This is especially helpful since most traditional Japanese homes in New Horizons belong to normal or cranky-type villagers, so players who intend to create a Japanese-themed island have more variety. It would be mind-numbing to have an island full of villagers with only two personalities!

Cohesion

Marcel’s home is mostly darker shades like deep brown or dark blue. His furniture also mostly consists of traditional items with bamboo or wood as the material.

This gives it the traditional Japanese look. Since his house focuses mostly on dark blue, brown, and green, it gives it a more unified look.

It’s no secret that Marcel isn’t the best-looking villager in New Horizons. And with only six different villager types and limited dialogue, many players tend to focus on the aesthetic appeal of the villagers above anything else.

Most of the house is black and brown. From the black floral walls and piano to the brown wooden floorboards and ironwood furniture, the only real pop of color is the cream-colored couch. This gives the house a calm and subdued, almost sophisticated look.

The outside of Marshal’s home is a simple clay hut. The inside, while well-furnished, isn’t an over-the-top or incredibly niche style. This simplicity can be a benefit to those who don’t like overly-complicated designs, or have a simple island and want their villagers’ houses to look the same.

2. Colton’s House

All the way in second place, we have Colton’s house! Colton is a smug-type villager. He’s a white horse with a blonde mane and blue eyes.

His design is modeled to look like a prince or a knight, which could in part be tied to being a white horse because of the popular idea of a prince or knight riding on a white horse. His house isn’t far off either!

Aesthetic

The outside of Colton’s house is a cream-colored brick with yellow shingles and a white door combination. The inside of his house is much more impressive, though. While it’s still sadly just as small as all the other villager homes, it has a more regal and castle-like aesthetic.

The palace wall and tile are really what pull this look together, with the Aquarius urn and grand piano emphasizing the home’s elegance. Definitely a tiny castle for a tiny prince!

Unique

Out of over 400 villagers, Colton is one of the few who has a castlecore aesthetic in his home. Still, amongst them, his house is the overall best, from color scheme to composition. Seems like this horse is smug for a reason!

The color scheme of Colton’s home is fairly simple. It’s mostly cream or white, with a few stray colors here and there. This adds to the regal look, since it’s not very vibrant or in-your-face with a bunch of colors, while also not looking too understated.

1. Julian’s House

Finally, the one we’ve all been waiting for. Claiming the number one spot on this list is Julian! Julian is yet another smug horse villager.

However, instead of a prince, Julian is designed to look like something even more magical- a unicorn! While he’s still listed as a horse, he has a prominent white horn protruding out of his forehead. With his glittery galaxy top and long eyelashes, this blue “horse” is definitely magical.

Aesthetic

The outside of Julian’s house is a clay white hut with teal stone roofing and a pale blue wooden door. The inside has a celestial or star-themed aesthetic. Most of his furniture comes from the constellation furniture set, and everything in his home comes from Celeste’s DIYs aside from the cloud flooring.

This makes it look as if you’ve stepped into a house somewhere high in the night sky from all the stars and lights and clouds. This is a super popular aesthetic in the New Horizons community, which makes this a fantastic option- aside from the fact that it really just looks amazing!

Unique

Not that many villagers have this aesthetic in their homes. The only one as or more prominent than Julian is Ione, a normal-type squirrel villager, who herself is also star-themed. However, her home isn’t as unified in style as Julian’s, giving him the “reigning king of the sky” theme.

Color Scheme

Because all of his furniture comes from mostly the same series, all of the colors are perfectly matching and look way more coordinated than other homes that collect different furniture that doesn’t always use matching shades. The color scheme is mostly blue, white, and gold, befitting a starry home in the skies. This is what gives him the edge over most of his other opponents and puts him firmly in first place.

10. Coco

Star Sign: Pisces (March 1st)

Personality Type: Normal (Female Rabbit)

Favorite Song: K.K. Jongara

House: Coco’s house in Animal Crossing New Horizons is rustic and relaxing, to say the least. The exterior would perfectly fit with some bamboo fences and a dirt road. In the interior you can find a round table with a couple of wooden chairs; a pair of torches can be seen in each of the bottom corners, this is you haven’t given any gifts to the normal personality villager.

9. Lolly

Star Sign: Aries (March 27th)

Personality Type: Normal (Female Cat)

Favorite Song: Forest Life

House: Lolly’s house design is one of my favorite in the New Horizons entry; the exterior colors can fit in any island that follows either a minimalistic or another specific style with its greenish roof, white door, and light brown design. On the inside Lolly’s house is pretty modern, especially taking into account the wallpaper and some of the furniture this Aries cat has on her house when you haven’t given her any gifts.

8. Dobie

Star Sign: Aquarius (February 17th)

Personality Type: Cranky (Male Wolf)

Favorite Song: Agent K.K.

House: New Horizons’ most looked-for villagers when the game was first released was full of the most adorable villagers, I was pretty happy to find that an elder villager entered the top ten and I can say nothing but what a delight his house design is. Dobie’s house follows the style of a detective or maybe a writer too; his vintage-decored interior includes a Classic-Library wall and a Herringbone Flooring as well as some furniture items like a den desk and a phonograph playing Agent K.K. as background music.

7. Tangy

Star Sign: Gemini (June 17th)

Personality Type: Peppy (Female Cat)

Favorite Song: I Love You

House: I love Tangy, of course, so don’t get me wrong when I say that Tangy’s house design wasn’t a surprise at all when I saw that it followed a tangerine style. The exterior combines the green and orange colors, and on the inside, we can find a tropical style with some fruit-themed furniture items like a pear bed, an apple TV, and a pear closet.

6. Ankha

Star Sign: Virgo (September 22nd)

Personality Type: Snooty (Female Cat)

Favorite Song: K.K. Bazaar

House: Ankha’s existence is exotic, to say the least; her Egyptian appearance is reflected in the design of her house, the exterior being different shades of brown and yellow, and the interior some of the rarest items to get in Animal Crossing including a pyramid, a golden toilet, three golden caskets, a Libra scale, and a couple of other golden furniture.

5. Raymond

Star Sign: Libra (October 1st)

Personality Type: Smug (Male Cat)

Favorite Song: K.K. Cruisin’

House: Raymond hasn’t left the top 5 ever since his first appearance on the series in New Horizons, and not a lot can be said that hasn’t been said before. Raymond’s house resembles an office just like we could expect from his clothing; the exterior of his house has some of my favorite color combinations in the series with some dark green, blue, brown, and beautiful not-so-white walls.

4. Skye

Star Sign: Aries (March 24th)

Personality Type: Normal (Female Wolf)

Favorite Song: Forest Life

House: It was a delight to see another wolf in the most popular villagers of the moment since that is my favorite species in the game; I wasn’t sure if I knew about her, but her house is beautiful, especially in the interior. Her living room has several furniture items from the Wooden set (that we can actually craft) as well as a blue heart-pattern wallpaper and simple white flooring to keep things uncomplicated. Minimalistic, but very well-looking.

3. Static

Star Sign: Cancer (July 9th)

Personality Type: Cranky (Male Squirrel)

Favorite Song: Surfin’ K.K.

House: I ain’t a fan of squirrels neither in Animal Crossing nor real life, but I gotta be honest and say that Static’s house has one of the sickest designs in the entire series. The exterior is not that big of a deal, but it isn’t very common to find houses with such dark colors (including black and dark purple), but the interior is top-notch with some rattan furniture items as well as the Hopscotch Floor and Street Wall as wallpaper.

2. Stitches

Star Sign: Aquarius (February 10th)

Personality Type: Lazy (Male Cub)

Favorite Song: I Love You

House: I’m not a fan of Stitches but man, nobody can deny how sweet and adorable this villager is. When playing the Happy Home Paradise DLC on New Horizons, his house request is “a toy box full of colors”, which is nothing but a perfect representation of what his basic house design is in the base game. The interior of Stiches’ house in New Horizons is playful and full of toys, and it also includes some Wooden furniture items as well as some of the exclusive Mom Gifts the player gets in the mail every once in a while. The exterior includes a nice light orange wall, a green rooftop, and a dark red door.

Favorite Song: K.K. Lullaby

House: Of course, Judy had to be on spot #1. First introduced in New Horizons, Judy’s house has blue, gray, and pink colors. Inside-wise, and quite similar to Bob’s design, Judy has a starry wallpaper and blue dot flooring; her house is decorated with the complete wooden-block DIY series of furniture, and starry garlands on the walls (a highly looked-after item on Nookazon, by the way).

10. Go K.K. Rider

Go K.K. Rider is one of the songs that K.K. Slider plays in a concert when you say you’re in a little grumpy mood. This track is highly recognizable for its inclusion in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate soundtrack and it’s the 46th song in K.K. Slider’s library.

9. Drivin’

Drivin’ is one of those Animal Crossing tracks that are extremely rare since you can only get it if you know about it. First introduced as an unobtainable track in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it officially became track #93 in New Horizons and you can request it during a K.K. Slider concert for him to give you a copy.

8. K.K. Cruisin’

One of my personal favorites that are always playing in my Animal Crossing house, K.K. Cruisin’ is one of the OG tracks from the Nintendo 64 Japanese release. With one of the sickest covers in the Animal Crossing world, K.K. Slider will play this song if you tell him you’re a little bit grumpy.

7. K.K. Metal

Definitely, one of the funniest songs to hear your villagers sing along on your island, this classic K.K. Slider track can be played at a concert when you’re in a grumpy mood (kind of seeing a trend over here right?).

6. K.K. Bossa

Feeling quite laid-back on a Saturday evening? K.K. Bossa is the perfect song for you. I personally have this song playing as background music in the shopping area of my island, it gives an incredible chill vibe with enough energy to just be walking around.

5. K.K. Lovers

This was one of the songs introduced in the 2.0 2021 update and is by far one of the favorites of many fans across the series. Not to be confused with K.K. Love Song, K.K. Lovers is the 102nd track overall and can be played during a concert if you say that you’re feeling a little blue.

4. Bubblegum K.K.

This is probably one of the most popular Nintendo songs in a while, especially recognizable for being a trend on social media without losing its own personality. Bubblegum K.K. to this day keeps being one of the most searched items in Animal Crossing community trading sites like Nookazon. One of the first memories I have of this song being a hit on the internet was that “Animal Crossing Isabelle Singing HD” on Youtube that translated into some amazing remixes and even memes. If not requested by you, Bubblegum K.K. can be played by K.K. Slider when you tell him that you’re feeling good!

3. K.K. Swing

This track particularly reminds me of the cult album “Everywhere at the end of time” by The Caretaker. It has an odd feeling to it while also keeping an amazing beat any villager on your island can bop to. It’s sung by K.K. Slider when you tell him you’re in a laid-back mood.

2. Stale Cupcakes

This could’ve easily been the first place of this raking but the perfection of Stale Cupcakes doesn’t rely on being the best but the calmest of them all. This K.K. Slider song sounds good whether you’re listening to it live on a Saturday evening, but it’s even better if it’s playing out on your island or one of the bedrooms of your house.

1. K.K. Disco

Out of the 100+ K.K. Slider songs in the Animal Crossing series, this is probably one the most memorable. Perfect for the outside, amazing on interiors, and even better if you’re feeling good during a Saturday concert, I personally love to have this upbeat track outside my house to welcome a new day with a great attitude, and if I’m lucky, have one of my villagers sing-along to it.
