As the Kreideprinz and also as the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius, Albedo remains a mystery to most of the citizens of Mondstadt. However, the thing that is definitely known about Albedo is he is a force to be reckoned with.

Albedo is a 5-star Geo sword user known for his ability to easily inflict Geo damage and form Crystallize reactions. Furthermore, if built in a specific way, he can deal a ton of damage while giving free buffs to your Main DPS with his Elemental Burst.

With so many different ways to build him, how will one even start? This is where we come in to help you. Here are the best three builds for Albedo!

3. Archaic Petra build

Coming in at number three, is Albedo built with a full Archaic Petra artifact set. This will allow him to concentrate on his ability to constantly generate an Elemental Shard through the Crystallize (Geo + Pyro/Hydrelemental reaction with his Elemental Skill.

Note that his Elemental Skill damage scales with his DEF stat, so this build will make Albedo somewhat tanky.However, Albedo doesn’t really need to deal significant damage to trigger the Crystallize reaction, but it is an outlet of consistent damage, so keep it in mind.

Here’s what you will need for this Albedo build.

Artifacts to use:

4-piece Archaic Petra

2-piece effect: Geo DMG Bonus +15%.
4-piece effect: Upon obtaining an Elemental Shard Created through a Crystallize Reaction, all party members gain a 35% DMG Bonus for that particular element for 10s. Only one form of Elemental DMG Bonus can be gained in this manner at any one time.

Stats and substats to look for:

Flower (Flat HP fixed): DEF%, DEF, Crit Rate, Crit Damage
Plume (Flat ATK fixed): DEF%, DEF, Crit Rate, Crit Damage
Sands (DEF%): DEF%, DEF, Crit Rate, Crit Damage

Albedo is known as one of the cheapest 5-stars to build. There’s absolutely no reason (unless you want to) for one to pull a 5-star weapon specifically for Albedo as most of his best weapons are 4-stars. With that being said, here are the best weapons for this Albedo build.

Best weapons for Archaic Petra build Albedo:

Cinnabar Spindle is undoubtedly a 4-star weapon that is best for Albedo, as it focuses on increasing his Elemental Damage based on his DEF, which is what it scales off in the first place. Barely any 5-star weapons can come close to how well this works for him. However, this is an event-only weapon.

Harbinger of Dawn is another good weapon for Archaic Petra build Albedo. It’s a 3-star weapon, proving that Albedo is indeed one of the most budget-friendly 5-stars to build. Harbinger of Dawn will increase Albedo’s Crit Rate and Crit Damage, making you have more room in his Artifact substats for DEF stats.

If you really want shinier things for Albedo, the 5-star weapon Primordial Jade Cutter is an excellent weapon to give him. Even without HP stats on his Artifacts, Albedo is still known to have high base HP. With Primordial Jade Cutter giving extra ATK% based on HP, Albedo would surely be able to deal extra damage.

With Archaic Petra build Albedo, it is important to always trigger a Crystallize reaction based on what element your Main DPS is. Note that Crystallize can only form if Geo reacts with Hydro, Pyro, Electro, or Cryo. With that being said, here are the best team compositions for this Albedo build:

2. Burst DPS build

Following at number two, this build will emphasize Albedo’s big numbers with his Elemental Burst, so it is very important to level up that skill. With an Elemental Skill as spammable as his, his Elemental Burst will be up almost all the time. With Albedo’s passive skill, Homuncular Nature, his Elemental Burst will always give free Elemental Mastery regardless of how he’s built, so this is a very nice extra perk.

Here’s what you’ll need for an Albedo Burst DPS build.

Artifacts to use:

2-piece Noblesse Oblige and 2-piece Archaic Petra

2-piece effects: Elemental Burst DMG +20% and Geo DMG Bonus +15%.

Depending on what you lack on Albedo from his Artifact substats, your weapon usage for this build might vary as well. Here are the best weapons for Burst DPS Albedo for both F2P and P2W players.

Best weapons for Burst DPS build Albedo:

Favonius Sword will be a great source of Energy Recharge if you want Albedo’s Elemental Burst to be up quicker. It’s a 4-star weapon that you do need to get from the Wish system, however.

Harbinger of Dawn still remains one of the best weapons for Albedo even for this build. The free Crit Rate and Crit Damage is simply too good from the weapon stats, not to mention that it is a 3-star weapon, which is significantly easier to enhance and refine for most players.
Mistsplitter Reforged is an undeniably great 5-star weapon for Burst DPS Albedo. It’s an event banner weapon, so you might have to wait around a bit for it to come back if you missed it, but the extra DMG bonus from the weapon skills and the Crit Damage substat will significantly increase Albedo’s Elemental Burst damage.

Virtually speaking, Burst DPS Albedo can be placed on any team. However, you can help increase everyone’s overall damage by activating the Geo and/or Pyro Elemental Resonance.

1. Husk of Opulent Dreams build

With the recent 2.3 update, Genshin Impact introduced the Artifact set Husk of Opulent Dreams. This is the number one build for Albedo overall, focusing more on dealing a large amount of damage through his very accessible Elemental Skill which scales on his DEF stat.

Furthermore, building Albedo this way will make him even tankier than the Archaic Petra build, to the point where he can withstand most endgame content without a shield.

These are what you’ll need to achieve this build:

Artifacts to use:

4-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams

2-piece effect: DEF +30%.
4-piece effect: A character equipped with this Artifact set will obtain the Curiosity effect in the following conditions: When on the field, the character gains 1 stack after hitting an opponent with a Geo attack, triggering a maximum of once every 0.3s. When off the field, the character gains 1 stack every 3s. Curiosity can stack up to 4 times, each providing 6% DEF and a 6% Geo DMG Bonus. When 6 seconds pass without gaining a Curiosity stack, 1 stack is lost.

Stats and substats to look for:

Flower (Flat HP fixed): DEF%, DEF, Crit Rate, Crit Damage
Plume (Flat ATK fixed): DEF%, DEF, Crit Rate, Crit Damage

Albedo will need weapons that will give him DEF boosting or overall DMG boosting passive effects. With that being said, here are the best weapons for Husk of Opulent Dreams Albedo.

Cinnabar Spindle will always be the best weapon for this Albedo build. His Elemental Skill already scales with his DEF stat, and this weapon will magnify it even more with its passive skill and its substat. Not a lot of weapons can reach this magnitude of DMG boosting for Albedo built with Husk of Opulent Dreams. However, this weapon is an event-only weapon, so grab it when you have the chance!
Festering Desire is another 4-star weapon that will heavily increase Albedo’s overall Elemental Skill damage. Not to mention, it also increases the Elemental Skill Crit Rate, leaving you more room to assign other stats in your Artifact substats. Again, this weapon is an event-only weapon, so if you have this, make sure to use it!

If you have neither of these event weapons, then the 3-star Harbinger of Dawn will serve as an adequate replacement.
If you want Albedo to have a 5-star weapon, Freedom-Sworn is an excellent sword for this build. The weapon will increase his own damage and will also give the entire team various stat boosts when Albedo triggers two elemental reactions, which he can easily do with his Elemental Skill. This sword is great for this Albedo build as it will help enhance his Elemental Skill damage while providing extra support for the entire team.

Much like Burst DPS Albedo, Husk of Opulent Dreams Albedo fits with most team compositions. Again, it will also help significantly to activate Elemental Resonances throughout the team. So, for this build, here are some amazing team compositions for this Albedo build:

Talented alchemist and wielder of a Vision, Albedo is one of the most interesting characters in the game so far.

Albedo is the Chief alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonious. He’s a character that made his first appearance in the 2.0 version. He is a calm, talented, and powerful support in any team. Albedo possesses a Geo vision, which is interesting to know due to the fact that he’s a Homunculus.

Albedo is also one of the few characters so far that are not hard to build because they can use artifacts with Defense % sub-stats and main stats. With this in mind, let’s see what are his best builds.

5. Max Defense

As was mentioned earlier, Albedo can be built with Defense % artifacts. This first build consists of two pieces of the Scholar and two pieces of the Archaic Petra sets. This will maximize your defense with albedo as much as possible, doing more damage with his elemental skill.

What “Max Defense” excels in:

Excellent for early Adventure Ranks, Scholar’s set does not have 5-star artifacts, so you don’t have to worry about perfect artifacts.
Because this build needs Defense, for the most part, you don’t have to farm artifacts that much.

Build Details:

Circlet: Crit. Damage / Crit. Rate / Defense %.
Goblet: Geo DMG Bonus %.
Sands: Defense %.

This is an interesting build for Albedo, the way it works is by activating constantly the 4 piece effect of the Tenacity of the Milellith set, although the two-piece effect is not the big deal on Albedo, it still works well on him.

What “Tenacity of the Homunculus” excels in:

Constant 20% Attack bonus for your whole team while Albedo’s Solar Isotoma (Elemental Skill) is on field and if it hits an enemy.
Extra shield strength increased by 30%, making the shards you pick up from elemental reactions with Geo stronger.

Yes, Albedo is played mostly as a Support, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be a great DPS, specifically a “Burst DPS”. He can cause serious damage with his ult, and although the damage of his Elemental Skill scales based on his defense, you still get nice supplemental damage from it.

What “Geo DPS” excels in:

Excellent Geo Damage from his burst.
Because ultimate has a very low cost of Energy, you can spam it all the time.

What “Elemental Amplifier” excels in:

Thanks to this build Albedo gains a nice 18% Geo DMG bonus.
When you pick up an elemental shard created by Crystallize, all characters gain a nice35% Damage bonus for the element of the shield during 10 seconds.

The elemental Burst Damage bonus from the Noblesse Oblige, balancing well the damage between his ultimate and his Elemental Skill.

The Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius is the secretive Albedo, Teyvat’s least emotive and most threatening artificial life form. Chalk Prince, “Kreideprinz”, ticking time bomb, big brother – Albedo is a man of many titles and talents, conducting his Frankenstein-adjacent experiments squirreled away in the caverns of Dragonspine.

This 5 star Geo sword-wielder boasts some of Genshin Impact’s most interesting lore and controversial canon opinions: appearing in several limited events, we’ve seen various faces of Albedo from dubiously ethical to sweetly familial, and we’re sure to encounter Albedo again as the main storyline engages further with the deeper mysteries of Teyvat. He’s due for a banner re-run soon: will you be ready?

5. HYBRID DPS

"[...] I might only need three strokes of the pencil to sketch Kaeya — one for the face, one for the eyepatch string... and one for the eyepatch." Iconic.

If you’re an Albedo stan and you just want Albedo and only Albedo, you could try a Hybrid build. It’s not recommended for Albedo’s chalky composition, but some may find his Normal/Charged attack design fun to play, and there’s nothing wrong with that. A well-built character will accomplish all they need to in-game until Genshin Impact becomes a competitive sport.

4. SUPPORT

Klee and Albedo's sibling relationship is too cute.

Like most Geo characters, Albedo is a fantastic Support – but unlike the others, he’s adept at leaving landmines in the form of his very own rock garden. His Elemental Skill “Solar Isotoma” deals AoE Geo DMG scaling off of Albedo’s DEF, and casting it before his Burst maximizes his ATK-scaling Geo DMG Burst with a significant AoE. His swift Energy Recharge, 12s Elemental Burst cooldown, and Crystallize capability allows him to perform as a great shielding battery, especially given his compatible artifact sets. Tenacity of the Millelith will buff not only Albedo’s ATK and shield strength, but the entire party’s as well – who needs Pyro Resonance? The 4-piece bonus is enough to compensate for the obsoleteness of the 2-piece’s, and Archaic Petra is a reasonable substitute.

As a Support, Albedo plays well with other Geo characters on an elemental team. Geo Resonance increases shield strength by 15% and shielded characters deal + 15% Dmg – plus, enemies hit by these characters have their Geo Res. decreased by 20% for 15s. Albedo’s Passive Talent “Homuncular Nature” is an unexpected yet vital aspect of his kit, increasing the Elemental Mastery of nearby party members by 125 for 10s after every Burst.

This ability results in a fun and flexible character who can mesh with just about any team comp in a variety of unique builds. For a support-only build, Elemental Mastery will be suggested to strengthen your shield. The EM-based Freedom Sworn sword with Tenacity of the Millelith is an example if he’s the sole shield Support with a small healer like Xingqiu: Albedo’s Solar Isotoma will trigger the party buff effect while he’s off-field. Albedo, always putting in work.

Supported by another Geo character, Albedo has the potential to generate and absorb a cacophony of Geo particles that’ll sustain a Skill/Burst spam with massive power. Keeping him constantly shielded and CRIT heavy with Zhongli and Harbinger of Dawn, he’s pretty unstoppable. The downtime will be less effective than other DPS contenders, but he won’t be down for long. You may want to swap DEF %/CRIT depending on your team, weapon, and constellation.

2. SUB DPS

Okay, okay, we're almost done.

Similar to Burst Sub DPS, Sub DPS Albedo is excellent. We already know about his EM party Talent - but let’s not forget Albedo’s other Passive Talent, “Calcite Might”. This enables his Transient Blossoms to deal 25% more damage to opponents whose HP is below 50%. Allowing your main DPS to deal some crushing blows and then summoning Albedo as finisher is a sound strategy.

In a Sub DPS role, Albedo is going to utilize both his Skill and Burst equally, so we’ll revert to a DEF % Sands for his Skill scaling. If you whaled for him on his first banner or have saved in hopes of a bountiful second, C2 Albedo is perfect for this build – his second constellation incorporates his DEF stat into his previously ATK-exclusive Burst. Finally, that angst-inducing collection of insane DEF artifacts collecting dust and despair in the grimy depths your adventuring bag has a purpose.

1. BURST SUB DPS

Albedo's always giving off "trapped at the company mixer" vibes, and I get it.

Albedo’s best suited for a Burst Sub DPS. The energy cost for his Elemental Burst is only 40 with a 12s cooldown, one of the lowest in the game. As previously mentioned, his Elemental Mastery buff is standout for a reaction-instigating main DPS, and he can Burst while maintaining off-field damage. Albedo’s shielding and short field time in this role surprisingly shines with a 3 star weapon: Harbinger of Dawn. Characters receive a substantial CRIT Rate increase when they maintain above 90% HP, and the untouchable Albedo is one of the few who can realistically meet this bar.

Mistsplitter is a unique option for Albedo that works with this build, as the sword’s impressive base ATK imbues his Normal/Charged and Burst with a bit more firepower. Albedo’s swift Burst cooldown enables 2 out of 3 16% Elemental Dmg bonus stacks combined with a 12% Elemental Dmg bonus innate to Mistsplitter. New sword Amenoma Kageuchi is another option for F2P accounts, as it’s craftable and Burst-friendly.
