In gaming, a mod (short for ‘modification’) is essentially when a feature or the code of the game is changed/edited in order to have something in the game that’s new or is improved. A mod can be anything from the addition of a new kind of weapon to changing a specific mechanic of the game, or even graphical improvements for the game.

Mods, for the most part, are available only on PC and are all free to download. By no means are they necessary to play or even enjoy a game, however some games are made significantly better by their addition as certain mods can really improve the overall experience of certain games. Sekiro is one title that really does not need mods, but some can be added for just that extra positive impact on your play through.

1. Unlock framerate, change FOV, etc.

There isn’t much to say about this mod that isn’t already in its name. I know, I know, what a stupid description to give. However, this mod allows for the player to adjust the framerate, change the FOV, add custom resolutions and even change the speed of the game, allowing customizability to the player that wasn’t allowed in the vanilla game.

Since Sekiro is a very fast paced game, it may be difficult for some to keep up with all that’s going on. This mod basically allows for the player to set the game up to their own preferences in order to play the game their own way.

It’s no secret that Sekiro is a very challenging game. In fact, it is probably the most difficult Fromsoft game in my opinion. I also do not subscribe to the idea of these games having an easy mode because the challenge is part of why the entire experience of playing them is so rewarding.

However, if you are the kind of person who doesn’t want the challenge, modder ttwin531 has made a mod that increases your attack, defense and stamina, along with giving you unlimited spirit emblems, which will allow you to coast through the game and just enjoy the world and the setting.

Since Sekiro also offers one of the most unique and enjoyable gameplay mechanics ever made, this easy mode makes it so you don’t need to worry about the thrill of the combat, you can just enjoy it and breeze through the game with it. But, if you want the true Sekiro experience, don’t download it. I mean it.

3. Magic HDR Reshade Preset

There aren’t very many HDR mods available for Sekiro but this one by modder DarknessRadio is surely one that will meet all your needs. The modder added Magic HDR for the game and combined it with a few other things in order to make a very cinematic feel for the game, and one that is very easy on the gaming system as well. The mod was initially designed for Nioh 2, but seeing as how the setting and aesthetic of both games is so similar, it works just as well for Sekiro.

4. Costume Pack Mod

The mods from here on out will not really affect the game in any technical aspect such as graphics or gameplay because the modding community for the game is not very large or active. The rest of these are mostly cosmetic. And what better way to start that off than with one of the funniest mods you can find. This mod offers the player the option to choose between various different skins that they can wear and play the game with.

Compared to the other games in the series, Sekiro offers the least amount of customization, especially when it comes to cosmetics, where the character will wear the same orange robes throughout atleast the first playthrough of the game, so this mod is a fun little way to mix things up. Some of the skins included are of Emma, a frog suit and a monkey suit.

6. Enemy and Item Randomizer

Think that playing through the entire game means that you always know what to expect from the game and what it throws at you? Well, with this mod, all of that changes. What this mod does is that it completely randomizes whatever enemies you will find and where you will find them.

It is very likely that you can find the last and most difficult boss of the game at the very beginning, or the most easy enemy will now become the very final boss of the game.

This is a very fun way to keep the game relatively fresh for yourself and experience new things each time you play the game through. Plus, it’s really hilarious to walk into the final boss room, expecting Sword Saint Isshin, only to be met with a regular Ashina foot soldier.

Since many of the mods that are offered for this game are cosmetic changes, it can get a little jarring to download so many and keep them all sorted. That's why modder Eyedeability has got you covered!

This awesome mod offers over 40 custom skins from other media that you can apply to Sekiro and also has weapon reskins that you can add to your sword, Kusabimaru. Some of these are characters from Naruto, other Fromsoft games, movies, shows etc.

8. Sekiro Resurrection

This mod functions a lot like the randomizer mod. What it does is that it adds around 20 unique and new boss fights to the game, as well as some minibosses. Not only this, but the mod also extends some boss fights, giving them new phases as well as completely new moves that you may never have seen before. This mod is great because it offers the player a chance to play the game again but with new things added to enhance the experience.

9. Sekiro Online

When Sekiro initially came out, many fans were left a little disappointed by the lack of multiplayer. What this mod does is that it adds an unofficial PvP mode to the game, as well as adding other co-op options in order to emulate the feel of other Fromsoftware titles.

The mod itself runs purely on P2P connections, though summon signs use a server to run. The online component is made to be like that of the other souls games, with summon signs to help with an area or boss, invading the world of other players or even just summoning an online player to fight them.

10. The Ultimate Sekiro Rebalance

Now this is a great one. One of the biggest features of Sekiro and its gameplay are the shinobi prosthetic tools that we use throughout the game, each with their own unique movesets and specific instances to use them in. While they are all awesome and fun to use, you can play the whole game without using some of them much because they have very specific situations to use them in.

This mod changes that. Now, all of the prosthetics will be given more viability to be used outside of their niche uses, as well as the inclusion of many other changes that make the experience one to be remembered.

A career reward is an object that is unlocked when a sim reaches a certain level of a career. Some of these rewards make pursuing a related career very much worth it, as you will get items that influence your sim’s emotions and alter your gaming experience. Here are the best career rewards, ranked!

10. Invest in stocks (Investor branch – Business Career)

When you reach level 7 in the Investor branch of the business career, you unlock a cool interaction that allows you to invest in stocks from a computer. You can choose to invest either §1000, §2000, or §5000. 48 hours later, you’ll get a return on your investment!

This can make you a TON of simoleons, potentially more than doubling your investment! On the other hand, an investment can go bad, and you could receive less than §500 back.

You can also ‘research stocks’ which gives you a +1 focused moodlet. If you invest in stocks while this moodlet is active, you’ll increase your chance of getting a good return on your investment.

In the stylist branch of the Style Influencer career, you will unlock makeovers at level 6 and trends at level 10. In the trendsetter branch, you’ll unlock trends at level 7 and makeovers at level 8.

Giving sims makeovers is a friendly interaction which will change how they look, including clothes and hair. Creating trends is done by clicking on your sim and selecting ‘create masculine/feminine trend’. This allows you to design an outfit, which townies and NPCs may wear.

You can create up to 5 masculine or feminine outfit trends at a time. This is a super fun way to personalize your game and control NPC’s clothing!

To begin with, you will be making very little money and have very few fans. But the more fans you gain from winning video game tournaments and live streaming, the more money you will make. Entering tournaments will gain you fans faster than live streaming alone!

This is a great, profitable reward and is a great way to make money while working toward promotion goals.

Have you ever felt that your sims lack personality? Well, modder Vicky Sims (chingyu1023) has created the solution. The list of traits can be seen here.

Each trait has its own CAS animations, autonomy, distinctive buffs, whims, impacts on relationships, and emotions. This means that your sims interact differently with the world around them, giving them a uniqueness that the base traits don’t provide. Better still, they are all base game compatible and totally free!

Vicky Sims has created two different versions: the CAS version and the Reward version. The CAS version means that NPCs will be randomly generated with some of these traits. I love this because seeing Bella Goth as unstable and creepy will never get old!

Introduce your sims to the world of online dating.

This mod is perfect if your sims need some romance in their life! This is a dating app that can allow them to have flings, blind dates, or something more serious. The app appears under the phone social menu, and you can access the SimDa chat room from a computer. My favorite thing about this mod is the moodlets your sims get, based on how the meetup went!

With the one-night stand option, your sim can call someone and invite them round for a quick woohoo session. This is great for storytelling as the two sims don’t need to have any sort of relationship before they get busy. Beware, though, your sim may get pregnant!

Overall, this is a super fun mod that enhances gameplay, especially if you’re into storytelling.

[Top 10] Fallout 4 Best Mods For Overseer's Guardian

Shoot your way through the Commonwealth with a gun that fires two bullets at once.

Fallout 4 is a massive game filled to the brim with dangerous and vicious enemies ranging from normal raiders and gunners to the alpha deathclaws. To survive in such a treacherous wasteland of the Commonwealth, the sole survivor must strap themselves with the most powerful guns to stand a chance against the harsh conditions of post-apocalyptic America.

One of the few new additions that Fallout 4 did is the introduction of the “Legendary” class of weapons. These legendary weapons provide the gun with a specific legendary effect to make it even more powerful than its normal counterparts. These legendary effects can range from setting targets on fire, giving each ammo fired an explosive effect, penetrating the enemies’ armor, and even a “never-ending” ammo capacity effect.

However, finding these legendary weapons is a gamble, as each legendary drop is not guaranteed to be good. For example, despite wanting a rifle, you might instead get a machete with radiation damage. Now, you have to find more legendary enemies in the hopes of finding that one weapon with the most broken legendary effect.

If only you could buy them from vendors, that would make life so much easier.

Well, guess what, survivor? You can.

Along with the addition of legendary weapons, Bethesda decided to add a special class of weapons that have guaranteed legendary effects that are sold by vendors. These weapons are called unique weapons, and some of them are overpowered when modded properly.

One of these overpowered weapons is the Overseer’s Guardian, a unique combat rifle with the two-shot legendary effect, effectively allowing you to shoot two projectiles at the same time. This effectively lets you deal double damage to your enemy at the cost of one bullet. It’s simple, yet effectively broken when you invest in it.

Where to Find the Overseer’s Guardian

Get the Overseer's Guardian under 20 minutes after leaving Vault 111.

The unique weapon, Overseer’s Guardian, can be found in Vault 81 sold by Alexis Combes, a vendor from the vault. The vault is located slightly west of Diamond City so as long as you head in that general direction, you should see the vault icon on your compass eventually.

To enter the vault, you must either pass a charisma check or pay the vault dwellers 3 fusion cores. You should be able to pay the toll if you’ve been exploring enough, but if not, there’s always the tried and true method of save-scumming.

Alexis Combes (Vault 81) sells the Oversser's Guardian for a pretty penny.

The gun is sold by Alexis for a few thousand caps, so make sure to wear your fashionable glasses, red dress, and militia hat before talking to her. Pop a couple of beers and a grape mentat for the best effect. You should be able to bring the price down to below 2000 caps which is much more affordable.

Modding the Overseer’s Guardian

Aside from the legendary two-shot effect, the great thing about the Overseer's Guardian is its versatility. With the appropriate mods, you could turn this into a long-range sniper rifle, a close-range automatic rifle, or a medium-range semi-automatic rifle

Take into consideration the perks that you have invested in. If you are heavily invested in Commando, it’s best to turn it into an automatic rifle. For Rifleman, go for semi-auto. You could also make a sniper rifle, but since the suppressor requires Gun Nut 4, you won’t be getting that mod anytime soon.

I would suggest turning the Overseer’s Guardian into a medium-range semi-automatic combat rifle to clear out approaching enemies. You can always use a fully modified Hunting Rifle as a sniper. Since their strongest ammo type is different (.50 caliber and .308 caliber), you won’t have to worry about one gun eating more ammo than the other.

10. Long Ported Barrel

Starting with the barrel of the gun, it’s no competition for the long ported barrel. The barrel combines the superior recoil from the short ported barrel with the range from the long light barrel, resulting in the best of both worlds.

The only downside of this barrel is the poor hip-fire accuracy, but to be honest, you should never shoot from the hip unless the enemy is breathing on your face.

9. Large Quick Eject Mag

What’s not to love about this mod? You get the large magazine that carries 40 ammo per magazine as well a shorter reload time by about 20%. This should be a no-brainer for anyone trying to modify this gun, right?

Well, there is a caveat. Due to the size of the magazine, it will weigh more, which will affect the number of shots you can take in VATS. So if you don’t want to be limited too much in VATS, you can always switch to a medium quick eject mag that weighs less than the large.

Pros:

Large clip size
Faster reload speed

Cons:

Heavier weight
Decrease the amount of VATS shots

8. Recoil Compensating Stock

Since the purpose of stocks is mainly to reduce the amount of recoil when shooting, it’s no surprise that the stock called “Recoil Compensating Stock” would do just that, and very well too.

Its only weakness would be the heavier weight, which affects your VATS. You can also argue that it is not as good as the Marksman’s Stock as that one has the added effect of better aim with scopes in exchange for worse recoil. You decide which one is best for you.

Worse aim with scopes compared to the Marksman’s Stock

7. Recon Scope

The aesthetics of the gun and the recon scope do not match at all.

This is where most people split on their beliefs on what the Overseer’s Guardian should be. By equipping it with the Recon Scope, you’ve effectively turned it into a sniper rifle since you can no longer aim down the scope without being taken out of the fight.

But why the Recon Scope? Well, that’s because it has the unique ability to mark enemies, allowing you to track them even when they are out of sight. This is an invaluable trait that’s essential to all snipers out there.

“If it’s so useful, why is it so low then?” That’s because it’s ugly as heck. The color of the scope doesn’t match with the aesthetic of the rifle and you can’t not see its ugliness unless you holster your weapon. For that alone, it dropped to 7th place. The marking thing is still good though.

Pros:

Mark and track enemies
Superior sighted magnification and accuracy

Cons:

Ugly as heck

6. .38 Receiver

Most of you probably wondered why I’m even including this receiver on this list. After all, it’s a weak receiver with lower damage than the default receiver it comes with. Well, the beauty of it lies with how abundant the .38 caliber ammo type is. Most, if not all raiders carry this type of ammo, most ammo boxes have a much higher chance to spawn .38 caliber ammo, and vendors sell this ammo for dirt cheap as well.

The ease of getting this ammo type combined with the legendary effect of the Overseer’s Guardian can turn this gun into a very spammable, very trigger-happy sole survivor. Since you’re dealing much more damage with the Overseer’s Guardian, the low damage receiver can still be a force to be reckoned with, perfect for a spray and pray playstyle.

Never run out of ammo

Weaker damage per shot

5. Muzzle Brake

Looks a bit like a tank gun, doesn't it?

If you’re not aiming to be a sniper and don’t care about being detected the moment you fire the first shot, then there’s no better muzzle than the muzzle brake. The muzzle brake considerably reduces recoil and per-shot recoil in exchange for a shorter range.

If you’re gunning for an automatic or a semi-automatic Overseer’s Guardian, then this is the muzzle you want to go for. It looks pretty badass too since it makes the gun look like a rhinoceros beetle (the best kind of beetle).

Pros:

Exceptional Recoil
Better Accuracy

Cons:

Inferior Range

4. Reflex Sight

Possibly the best sight in the game.

In my opinion, the best possible sight that you could put on the Overseer’s Guardian is the dotted reflex sight. Of course, this will only be viable for medium-range combat, but most of the time, you’ll be fighting indoors which doesn’t require long-ranged scopes anyway.

What makes it great is the lightness of the scope and how it doesn’t take you away from combat when you look down the sight. You can shoot up to 5 VATS shots compared to the usual 2 with the scope. Using the appropriate mods, this sight is the best option for most situations.

Pros:

Lighter build
Keeps you in the combat

Cons:

No long-range sniping

3. Powerful Automatic Receiver

The strongest mod for anyone itching to turn their Overseer’s Guardian into an automatic weapon. This receiver uses the original .45 caliber ammo, which is less common but can still be bought from vendors for a reasonable price.

I’ll admit, I’ve only tried the Overseer’s Guardian as an automatic weapon only once or twice, but whenever I do, I would have a lot of fun bringing down a torrential assault of bullets on my enemies. However, the worry with ammo never really seems to disappear which is why I’m putting it at 3rd place.

Pros:

Perfect upgrade for a fun playstyle
Still stronger than .38 caliber

Cons:

Less common ammo type

2. .308 Receiver

Here we are with the strongest ammo type available for the Overseer’s Guardian. The .308 caliber rounds are what most people use as sniper rounds before they are highly leveled enough to get .50 caliber rounds. Unfortunately, the combat rifle does not take those rounds which prevents them from being the perfect sniper weapons.

Yet, the .308 is still amazingly strong and at most times, more than enough to kill an unsuspecting enemy, especially with the Overseer’s Guardian’s legendary effect. The only caveat here would be the scarcity of .308 rounds to be found in the wild. Enemies very rarely carry .308 rounds so you’ll have to restock your ammo through vendors.

It shouldn’t be ignored that this receiver also increases the fire rate of the weapon. While it won’t be as fast as an automatic weapon, it can still fire impressively quickly.

Pros:

Strongest damage available
A faster rate of fire

Cons:

Uncommon ammo type

1. Suppressor

Quiet and deadly. The perfect combination.

Whichever way you decide to take your Overseer’s Guardian, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t put a suppressor on it. The fewer people know about your killing spree, the better chance you’ll have of making sure no one gets to know about it.

The suppressor is just an all-around best muzzle for the combat rifle. Aside from completely silencing your weapon, it even provides exceptional recoil per shot and improved recoil overall. It has the same caveat of reducing the gun’s range by quite a bit, but that should be a fair trade for being a silent snipe ninja.

There is one thing that prevents you from getting this mod, which is your level. You will need Gun Nut 4 to get the suppressor and that requires you to be level 39. If you want to just buy the suppressor from vendors, you can, but they are especially rare. It’s probably faster to spend a perk point and get Gun Nut 4 than cycling through vendors.

Pros:

Complete silence

Increases damage through Ninja and Mister Sandman

Cons:

Late in the game to get
Heavier loadout

They’ve gone above and beyond to make the power armor feel like an absolute beast as you trek your way across the destroyed streets of Boston.

However, Bethesda being Bethesda, they’re not exactly the best when it comes to making life easy for the players. Fallout 4’s power armor could stand to have a few more tweaks and improvements to make things much more fun. Thankfully, we’ve got modders to save the day.

10. Power Armor Animation Changes

Suit up, soldier.

A staggering difference between vanilla animation and mod animation.

The slow and clunky power armor brings a nice touch of realism and immersion to the world of Fallout 4. But, while that’s all nice and dandy, the obscenely slow animation of entering and exiting the power armor kinda gets annoying after the 5th time. A faster animation does exist in the game files, but Bethesda decided to lock that animation only for when you are in combat.

Power Armor Animation Change by somberX fixes this issue by making the faster entry and exit animation the default for every situation, even outside of combat. The difference is like night and day. The vanilla animation takes roughly 15 seconds to get in and out of the power armor. Meanwhile, this mod cuts that time by half, getting in and out in only 7 seconds.

And if that’s not fast enough for you, this mod also provides an instant entry and exit animation. This one kinda warps you through the armor’s back so you will be sacrificing immersion for this. I still believe the “Fast” animation is what everyone should go for. It strikes the perfect balance of immersion and quality of life and it’s absolutely essential for power armor players.

Fallout 4’s power armor HUD is strange. During the day, it’s transparent (for whatever reason) and at night, the HUD is solid in color. This odd inconsistency is not only distracting and immersion-breaking, but it also blocks a huge chunk of the screen with that ugly HUD. Of course, some people like the aesthetic which I get. But for me personally, I much prefer a cleaner and more compact HUD when I’m wearing my power armor.

Power Armor HoloHUD by maximluppov aims to do just that. The mod takes away the metallic look of the HUD and rearranges the various dials to make it as compact as possible, allowing for a better view of your surroundings.

If you’re like me and use immersive HUD in your gameplay, then this is a great mod to complement it. I, for one, can’t play Fallout 4 with the HUD turned on anymore. You start to realize just how distracting the HUD is whenever you want to soak in the scenery.

6. Take Your Cores

The fusion core transferred from the power armor to the player's inventory automatically.

Adjust the timing and distance for when you get your fusion core back.

Remember the good ol’ days when your younger sibling would take your 3DS and play with it without permission, so you passive-aggressively hid all of the game cartridges so he won’t be able to play anything on it anymore? Yeah, me neither.

But someone certainly turned that scenario into a mod. Take Your Cores by darkconsole allows you to automatically retrieve the fusion core used after getting out of your power armor. Not only is this mod convenient, but it also prevents NPCs and settlers from wearing your power armor without permission, which is an annoying design choice in itself.

So if you don’t want to see some random settler taking your superexpensive toys and playing with them without your permission, maybe consider getting this mod.

5. No Aggro Impact Landing (Power Armor)

Cause an earthquake in the middle of town and not get shot.

Jump around town in full power armor and face zero repercussions for it.

In power armor, you are effectively a walking tank. Every step you take spells death to your enemies. No one in their right mind would ever pick a fight with you...unless you drop from a two-foot ledge in power armor.

This mod by mm137 is a godsend. Realism is important, sure, but it gets really annoying when the entire population of Diamond City decides to open fire because you caused a magnitude 6 earthquake in the middle of town by accident.

This mod disables aggro from non-hostile NPCs when you drop from a ledge that’s a smidge too high. With this mod, you can effectively parkour around the city like a tank on red bull.

4. The Brotherhood Power Armor Drop Team

Never fear. The brotherhood's got your back. Ad Victoriam!

Your power armor being dropped by the brotherhood to your location.

What’s more badass than wearing power armor? How about having your power armor airdropped to you by your fellow brothers and sisters for you to start wreaking havoc on the freakshows of the Commonwealth. Ad Victoriam!

This mod by EdmondNoir is one of the best mods if you’re doing a power armor AND Brother of Steel playthrough. Imagine being in a firefight against a group of super mutants and they’re starting to overwhelm you. Just call in a power armor and turn the tides in an instant!

But in all seriousness, this mod is perfect because walking around in your power armor can be slow, tedious, and drain your fusion cores. I play mainly in Survival mode so this is a huge problem for me. Thankfully, this mod fixes all those issues and makes me fall in love with the brotherhood even more. 3. Hellfire X-03 Power Armor

The power armor that brings out the pyromaniac within us.

It even comes with fire or radiation AOE options!

How can you possibly make a top 10 best mods for power armor list without featuring the absolutely stunning power armors created by the talented modding community? Fallout 4 features a lot of good power armors, but after the X-01, things get a bit stale. Sometimes you just want to wear something new.

The Hellfire X-03 Power Armor mod by unoctium was inspired by the Enclave’s Hellfire Armor from Fallout 3’s Broken Steel DLC and is one of the most badass looking armor ever. It lives up to its name with its specialized AOE fire (can also be plasma) attack and the pyro-styled helmet.

The power armor presentation itself is very lore-friendly, relating the armor to the Enclave from Fallout 3 as well as its antagonist. If you’re a fan of the Enclave or tired of the X-01 power armor, then I highly recommend getting this mod.

2. Enclave X-02 Black Devil Power Armor

Be the Batman that the Commonwealth needs, but not the one it deserves,

Find the armor abandoned in a secret location full of enemies and dangers.

At first, I was going to put the Hellfire X-03 Power Armor above the X-02, but this new take on the Enclave’s X-02 Power Armor by C1ph3rr is just so good, I had no choice but to put it in 2nd place. This is, in my opinion, the best version of the Enclave X-02 power armor mods and it shows. It really shows.

The Enclave X-02 Power Armor codenamed: “Black Devil” lives up to its name with the absolutely gorgeous, yet absolutely menacing design. The armor itself is inspired by the Enclave’s power armor from Fallout 3; so again, if you like the Enclave or want a new power armor in your roster, this is the one to get.

The mod comes with the Tesla version of the armor to add the energy-infused feel for those maining energy weapons. The textures of the power armor are crisp and detailed and are definitely one of the best-looking power armor mods out there.

1. Excavator Power Armor

Just look at this absolute unit of a power armor.

Find both versions aptly hidden within the quarries of the Commonwealth.

Fallout 76 may not have been the greatest game to have come out from Bethesda’s game factory, but goddamnit, they’ve got some real sick power armor designs. In my opinion, one of the best unique-looking power armor from Fallout 76 is definitely the Excavator Power Armor.

Developed by newermind43, this mod brings the Excavator Power Armor from Appalachia to the Commonwealth along with its glorious construction-themed design. While the X-03 and the X-02 were cool and badass, the Excavator Power Armor just feels different. Instead of feeling like Batman or a pyro from hell, you instead feel like a bulldozer just ramming your way through hordes of Commonwealth scum.

The mod author did a great job in bringing this power armor to Fallout 4 by building it from the ground up. This is a very high-quality mod and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s planning to go for a power armor playthrough and settlement building (cause it just makes sense).

After Mass Effect: Andromeda crashed spectacularly onto store shelves in 2017, the Mass Effect series had laid dormant without as much as a peep. That is until the recent EA shocked the world by finally making a good decision and announced a remaster slated for a May 14th release date. But how can you scratch that Mass Effect itch while you eagerly await a shiny new 4K Shepard? The answer is simple… Mods! And oh would you look at that I’ve already found the 10 best Mass Effect 3 mods to satiate your appetite before the remaster! Guess you’ll just have to read it now!

10. First Person Mode

Up close and... okay maybe too close, yuck.

If you ever wanted to take the role-playing element of Mass Effect to the next level, then the first-person view is for you, just don’t get too close to the Krogans… those things really freak me out up close. Like the Grand Theft Auto V feature that also pops you into the eyeballs of your usually third-person hero, the POV takes a little getting used to, but after playing around with it for a while, I found myself really enjoying it, even if it was just bothering aliens on the Citadel.

Why First Person Mode is fun:

Completely different perspective than the vanilla version of the game
Get up close (sometimes too close) and personal with all of the alien creatures like you’ve never seen before.

9. Backoff Mod

Fall in love all over again.

The Backoff mod intends to inject Mass Effect 1 and 2 romance into the third game. The modder believes that when it comes to love, subtlety goes a long way and introduces more flexible conversation options so that flirting feels more organic and intentional. Things such as email tone are also changed based on if you are in a relationship with that person, as well as greater difference between friendly and romantic interactions with your love interest. Overall this mod is great for people that feel like sometimes the option they picked on the dialogue wheel and what their Shepard said weren’t always the same.

8. Bonus Power Packs Mod

Who doesn't love some extra firepower?

By the time Mass Effect 3 was released, Bioware had already done so much across the series to bolster the excitement of combat to make it feel as captivating and smooth as possible. That being said, many people I talk to still gloss over their time shooting reapers and harvesters in order to talk about what’s really important… which crew member you romanced (team Miranda here).

The somewhat sameness of combat by the third entry is why the Bonus Power Packs mod is the perfect choice for the Mass Effect player looking to spice things up. The mod expands on the powers your Commander Shepard possesses in the base game and adds 10 new abilities, including Ballistic Blades (great name for a band) and arc grenade abilities, among tons of others. The creator of this mod, AVPen, cites the multiplayer abilities as his main inspiration for taking on the project, and clearly put a lot of time and love into creating this for fans. 7. A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) for ME3 Mod

That'll do until the remaster.

Returning to Mass Effect 3 after over 9 years away from Normandy can be a jarring experience, especially now that we are two generations away from the consoles the game was meant to run on. The “A Lot of Textures (ALOT) for ME3” mod softens the nostalgia blow you are bound to feel when you boot up the ol’ PS3 or Xbox 360 for a replay.

The biggest difference between this visual overhaul mod and others is how committed they are to upholding the base game’s presentation. The modding team working on this isn’t glossing over the entirety of the game in a distracting or careless way, but instead refining the rough edges so that they won’t ruin a player’s immersion, even if they are playing for the first time. They also have dug through the game’s files and have re-introduced high-resolution textures and assets that, for whatever reason, ended up being left out when the game shipped in 2012. This mod is one of my favorites, as I love how careful the team was not to mess with any of the parts we love about Mass Effect 3.

6. Citadel Epilogue Mod

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite mod on the Citadel.

Even all this time later, I still find it hard to talk about how much I enjoy Mass Effect 3 without also admitting how much I still HATE the ending, like 99% of the world. Luckily for all of us, the modding community has been hard at work trying to fix this problem since launch, and has come up with some great amendments to the base game. Enter the Citadel Epilogue mod, which puts the DLC at the end of the game, to leave gamers leaving the story happy, instead of wanting to throw their television down a flight of stairs.

This mod is clever because it takes out the doom and gloom from the beloved DLC, and turns it into a celebration of sorts. There is no talk of reapers, or any galactic threat for that matter, and instead reinvests your time into doing what everyone loved about the DLC when it first released, the chance to get wasted with your crew without feeling guilty that you really should be helping out with that whole Earth invasion thing.

Why the Citadel Epilogue mod is fun:

Have a great time with your buds without having to worry about that whole reaper thing
Experience both party options in one night for a huge rager

5. Hair Mods as DLCs Mod

Fashion Effect 3.

As someone who shamelessly spends hours customizing their character’s appearance before any RPG, this mod really came in handy. The hair in Mass Effect 3 is… fine, but we’re spoiled nowadays with an overwhelming number of hairstyles in games that in comparison Mass Effect 3 is just a wee bit underwhelming.

Thankfully the hair mods allow for more options, including the long hair for Female Shepard, something I really wanted from the game all those years ago. This mod isn’t going to drastically alter your game experience or anything, but with the amount of time you’re looking at your character, it never hurts to really like the way your Shepard looks.

4. Thomas the Reaper Engine Mod

Fear has a new face.

Yeah you read that right. For years people have been replacing intimidating forces like the dragons in Skyrim with the childhood mascot, and now he finally makes his Mass Effect debut.

This mod came out just this year, and was made in response to a lack of comically deadly trains in Mass Effect. Modder Exkywor decided to take matters into his own hands and create the mod himself, and I think we all owe him one for that. There’s something about the signature Thomas whistle replacing the Inception horns of the reapers that never gets old. I guess no matter how old the game is, eventually they all get a Thomas the Tank Engine mod. Dread it, run from it, Thomas arrives all the same. Also, here’s hoping the mod makes an appearance on the remaster, too!

3. Extended Final Anderson Conversation Mod

One Last Goodbye.

Mass Effect fans expect a lot from the series when it comes to character arcs, and rightfully so, since the game pioneered multiple story-telling altered by player choice. That’s why expectations were extremely high for Mass Effect 3, it’s one thing to put in callbacks to the original game in Mass Effect 2, but the final game in the series was going to have to satisfyingly wrap up character arcs or else fans would be upset. And to their credit, Bioware found a way to conclude many of our favorite characters in memorable ways, but the same wasn’t true for Anderson.

Anderson had been by the N7 Commander’s side since the original game, and his character appeared in some capacity in every entry in the series. Some felt that their final meeting should have been longer, and now thanks to mods it is. Modder HelixSpiral dug through the game files and found unused dialogue between the two for their final interaction. This isn’t a huge mod in terms of size, at only about 22MB, but it does add extra camera angles and conversational pieces that feel necessary to the experience, and so I highly recommend this mod as a sort of “extended cut” of the scene.

2.EGM (Extended Galaxy Mod)

Basically Mass Effect 4

The Extended Galaxy Mod is the crown jewel of the Mass Effect Modding scene. Featuring brand new missions, crazy customisation of the Normandy and crew, and quality of life improvements like an overhaul of the maligned war asset system, EGM is a gigantic mod that will have many players thinking they’re playing an entirely new entry in the series!

Mass Effect 3 had huge expectations when it first arrived back in 2012, and because of the scope of the game, the team at BioWare had to leave a lot of fan favorite races and characters on the cutting room floor. Thankfully many of those absent in the base game arrive in this mod, and we even get a neat little easter egg involving Mass Effect 2 DLC character Zaeed involving his homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe, which is both a nice nod to the character and also my new favorite dessert!

Why EGM is fun:

Tons of references to Mass Effect 1 and 2 will bring a smile to any OG fan’s lips
Overhauled war asset system that makes you feel like a military general and gives your decisions weight Brand new missions that flesh out characters and events from the base game, as well as entirely independent ones
Crazy amount of customization choices for you to become deeper immersed in the world or to stand out on the battlefield

1. MEHEM The Mass Effect 3 Happy Ending Mod

The Modding scene doing what the Devs never could.

Our final mod is the most fitting for a game like Mass Effect 3, and this mod is sure to impress. Modder MrFob reinterprets the ending of the game so that there is no catalyst scene, meaning no creepy AI child and destroying the Citadel. Shepard returns to his crew, and you share a bittersweet moment with them as you mourn. The mod does a great job at capturing the same feelings that Mass Effect evokes without feeling like fan service.

This mod effectively cuts out the part of the game that has held back players from revisiting the game for years, making it the most incredible mod of all. You are now free to play through the series without having to think about how much you dislike the ending. Also congratulations, you defeated the reapers without having to sacrifice anything!

Everyone loves a happy ending!
Skip one of the few weak spots in the entire trilogy
