Agony Game Release Date Has Been Delayed To "Before 2018"

Agony, Madmind Studio’s first-person survival horror game has unexpectedly been delayed for several months to sometime before 2018, and no exact date has been released so far.

The reason for this according to a comment they posted on Kickstarter was that Agony will be now be released as a box version (physical copy) alongside the digital version. This means all of the game content must be submitted much earlier than expected.

Because they have to meet the requirements of a physical copy release they will have to start preparing for the physical release by producing thousands of physical boxes for the game as well as sending of marketing materials to stores.

However, Madmind Studios did say that because of the postponed release date it has given them some extra time to “polish and expand the game.” They have also said that they have decided to take advantage of this opportunity and give fans something they have been asking for since the Kickstarter campaign which was having more playable characters. Originally, having more playable characters was not being financed but now, given the extra time, it’s something they can now focus on bringing to the game.

It was also mentioned in a Kickstarter comment that the most “hardcore players” who take their time to find all of the “secrets” will receive an award of multiple endings to the game. With a total of seven endings added to the game, all of them will join together and create one complete story.

At the beginning of Agony you start of as a tormented soul with no memory of the past and you are trying to escape hell. You can then start to explore the creepy, eerie and hostile environment while also interacting with others you might find along your ventures through hell. Your character will have the ability to control people and also possess what the game calls simple minded demons.

Madmind Studio said “Moving the release date was a difficult decision but we decided to do so because we know that it will have a positive impact on the project.” The delayed release date could be a blessing in disguise but we won’t know until the game comes out, you don’t want to judge a book by its cover.

3 Disturbing Things About Horror Game "Agony"

Agony is a first-person survival horror game currently in development and they certainly don’t hold back when it comes to showing gruesome, disturbing content that will keep you awake at night or should I say the rest of your life!

During the extended trailer there was many head-turning scenes, 3 of which were eye gouging, corpse eating and hellish creatures, this is certainly not a game for the faint-hearted.

Here is an introduction to the 3 most disturbing things about Agony.

1) Eye gouging

The Agony trailer shows a strange bearded man having is eye gouged out with a decent amount of blood projecting out from his eye socket following the brutal attack. If you are a fan of the 2002 Sci-fi/Thriller movie 28 days later, Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds or the popular TV show Game of Thrones, the odds are you have come across your fair share of eye gouging, cough cough, Sir Gregor Clegane (The Mountain). Now there are many things that some people find disturbing that many others do not. Nevertheless, if a vote was held with sane people, yes sane people (Crazys can’t be included in this vote, sorry) whether eye gouging was disturbing or not, I’m fairly certain it would receive an almost unanimous vote.

2) Corpse eating

Corpse eating is… um, well… Corpse eating! It’s very disturbing, it’s not something you see every day and deserves a place on the list. The trailer shows a blonde woman/horned creature in a euphoric trance eating a corpse and reveling the taste as if it was her first meal in years while also preforming some sort of satanic mental ritual. Due to the popularity of shows like The Walking Dead, most of the world has probably become immune to seeing half dead, brainless beings munch away on vital organs like an afternoon snack but nonetheless, disturbing.

3) Hellish Creatures

Last but not least is hellish creatures. They have spent years dwelling in the depths of darkness, bound within Hell, searching for sinners. These creepy creatures will unsettle you right down to the core by simply looking at them and if you get too close they will devour you with ease and pleasure. The Agony trailer shows some unusual, disfigured hybrid creatures from the fiery pits of hell, some don’t look human at all besides from standing upright on two legs while others are clearly some sort of human/devil-goat hybrid.
