TheViperAOE Takes On Vinchester in Age of Empires King of the Desert IV Grand Final

TheViperAOE faced off against Vinchester in an epic battle yesterday to be crowned victor in the Age of Empires IV ‘King of the Desert IV’ grand final.

On 12 December 2021, at 3:00 PM CET, Age of Empires IV announced the start of the Age of Empires IV ‘King of the Desert IV’ grand final, in which TheViperAOE would compete against Vinchester across a total of 9 rounds to be crowned ‘King of the Desert IV’ champion.

The tweet posted by Age of Empires IV announcing the start of the grand final also specified that before TheViperAOE went up against Vinchester, the world would first watch “ Liereyy1 and JorDan_AoE duke it out for bronze.”

The battle between JorDan and Liereyy started out with an immediate swing in Liereyy’s favor as he took victory in the first round. Liereyy dominated in both the second and third rounds, despite having a pitiful economy in comparison to JorDan during round 3.

During the post-match winner interview Liereyy stated that he was still feeling “a bit sad” despite his victory over JorDan, as he had hoped to defend his title as King of the Desert but ended up with third place overall.

For the Grand Final, TheViperAOE started off with a bang, winning round 1. This was quickly turned countered by a win from Vinchester in round 2. Rounds 3 and 4 saw two more victories for ‘The Viper’.

Vinchester made a minor comeback with a victory in round 5, but this was followed by a fourth victory for ‘The Viper’ in round 6. Round 7 was taken by ‘The Viper’ giving him 5 wins out of a maximum total of 9 rounds and securing his spot as King the Desert IV champion.

Age of Empires IV Servers to Go Down for Scheduled Maintenance

Age of Empires IV released an announcement stating that the servers would go down for scheduled server maintenance.

On 6 December 2021 at 10:01 PM CET Age of Empires IV posted a tweet stating the following, “IN ONE HOUR, Multiplayer servers for Age I, II, III:DE and IV will be down for maintenance. Please make sure you finalize any MP games at least 10 minutes prior.”

On the official Age of Empires IV forum, Age of Empires specified that the servers would go offline 1 hour before scheduled server maintenance to “prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.”

Furthermore, they stated that “Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when the servers are taken offline.”

They also specified that players would be able to open and play the game during maintenance, they just wouldn’t be able to access or use any online features.

The objectives of the maintenance, as stated in the official forum, were routine server maintenance. Age of Empires IV specified that there would be no “player-facing changes,” hence players would not be required to download any updates after the maintenance was completed.

Server maintenance was successfully completed at 00:34 AM CET on 7 December 2021, and Age of Empires IV has requested that players report any issues that may have arisen as a result of the maintenance.

Age of Empires IV Explains Historical Research Behind Mexican Civilization In-Game

Age of Empires has released a detailed breakdown in a news release of how the historical research was conducted for the development of the Mexican civilization as part of Age of Empires IV.

On 23 November 2021 at 11:55 PM CET Age of Empires tweeted a statement saying, “Our teams have been hard at work to make the Mexican civ fun and engaging to play while celebrating and honoring Mexican history and culture. Take a look behind the scenes at the Mexico civ and how it was inspired by history.”

According to the news release by Age of Empires, they used 3 key elements of the Mexican civilization for Age of Empires IV. The first element is the Mexican Priest, the second is the Mexican General, and the third is the Mexican Flag.

As stated in their news release “For the Priest character, “el Padre” in Spanish, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla served as our guide in developing the character.” Miguel was a Roman Catholic priest. He took over his brother’s parish in 1803.

The Mexican General is based on Ignacio Allende y Unzaga, who led the Spanish Army in Mexico.

According to the Age of Empires news release, he was the inspiration behind the Mexican General “Because of his fearlessness in standing up to the Spanish authorities…”, and because “he helped spark one of the most significant battles in Mexican history.”

Lastly, the in-game Mexican flag is not the official Mexican flag as it is known today due to a law signed by President Gustavo Diaz Ordaz in 1968, protecting the use of the Mexican flag for official government use only.

Age of Empires IV Is Enriching the Experience With Intriguing Historical Background

Age of Empires IV is out and has been performing outstandingly. As part of creating a rich experience for Age of Empires players and fans, Age of Empires is releasing a stream of intriguing historical background for the game and various stuff in the game.

One of these features is the Berkeley Castle, in the town of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Berkeley Castle dates all the way back to the 11th century and has housed the Berekely family for over 850 years.

Despite the castle’s incredible beauty, it hides a plethora of deadly surprises. The castle is full of trip steps, arrow slits, and murder holes, all designed as a means to a violent and gruesome end.

Berkeley Castle has over 25,000 archives, with documents stored from as far back as 1154 AD. It is also the only castle in the country to have housed the same family since its creation. The castle walls were built with soft pink stone which glows soft pink in the sunlight.

It also boasts a fully functional medieval kitchen, as well as a beer cellar that can be found on castle grounds. Another interesting fact that Age of Empires tweeted out is that plate armor was developed during the Hundred Years War and revolutionized military gear and armor forever.

On a side note, despite initial server connection issues, Age of Empires IV has announced that the servers are stabilizing and that players should be able to play without any major issues.

Age of Empires IV Will Be Playable on Older and Low Spec PC's!

Age of Empires has revealed that it has a ‘Min Spec’ mode for the new Age of Empires.

As Age of Empires nears its 25th anniversary, they have announced an exciting new feature coming with Age of Empires IV when it is released on 28 October 2021. They have announced that players will be able to enable a ‘min spec’ mode in-game.

Age of Empires has catered to millions of players over the years, and for the IV addition to the series, they wanted to make sure that they produce the highest quality game that they can.

However, a large part of the Age of Empires player community is using older systems or integrated graphics. Age of Empires wanted to cater to as wide a variety of players as possible, hence the creation of the min spec mode.

Min spec, or low spec renderer as it is also known, is designed to be used by older PC’s and integrated graphics systems without crashing the entire system. It can be activated through a specific combination of in-game graphics settings and the auto-detection system.

The min spec mode required the development of multiple asset sets, with some being high quality for stronger systems, and some being for lower spec systems. The min spec mode utilizes simpler lighting, less visual detail, low res textures, less destruction, and only allows 4-player battles.

The high spec mode on the other hand allows 8-player battles, uses high res models and textures, high unit counters, and very detailed explosions.

It is expected that over 50% of the Age of Empires IV player base will be using the low spec renderer, making it an invaluable addition to the game.
