This seed isn’t as remarkable in its scenery so much as it is in its playability. You spawn in a snowy taiga on the edge of a village. The village’s homes contain chests packed with valuable items. In fact, the first chest you are likely to open contains three diamonds and a nearly complete set of iron armor. You’d be nigh unstoppable from the very beginning of the game.

The landscape of this seed’s spawn is confusing in its complexity. It’s difficult to describe in words, so I recommend taking a look at yourself. The magnificent pool of water at the mouth of this lush cavern spills into the caves over multiple waterfalls. There are several little floating islands, hovering over the lake, a few dotted with giant mushrooms from the dark oak forest that surrounds the valley. There are no words to describe this seed better than “gorgeous fairytale.”

So… there’s basically a category of seeds entirely devoted to woodland mansions that generate at spawn. But forget about all those seeds, right now. This one utterly decimates its competition. Not only is there a mansion at spawn, but it is located inside a lush cavern. The foundation is immense and blocky and floats in the middle of this moss-and-ivy coated ravine, illuminated by glow berries, and upon it stands the mansion, tall and proud of its impossible existence.

After researching and writing this list, I’m simply itching to check all of these seeds out. They’re all so beautiful and fascinating, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of the incredible places and treasures they’re concealing. There has been a serious resurgence of old-school type Metroidvanias making a return in recent years. With influences from more modern classics like Dark Souls, some of these games have established themselves as some of the very best in the genre. Here’s a list of the very best.

15. Yoku’s Island Express (PC, PS4 Xbox One, Switch)

A very creative and fun take on the usual Metroidvania

Pinball + Metroidvania is something that should NEVER work. But it does…

Yoku’s Island Express has one huge twist: It’s a pinball adventure game set within a Metroidvania-style world. Surprisingly, it combines these two with ease to create something truly special. Oh, and you also play as a dung beetle.

This game is unique, smart, and most importantly, extremely fun. Its different interconnected levels filled with secrets will charm you from the getgo and won’t let go of you until you have discovered every inch of this imaginative world. If you’re looking for an adorable, fun Metroidvania with a twist, where you will spend hours obsessing over its collectibles, this is the game for you.

14. Unsighted (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

Yeah, this games’ cover looks like a 90’s cartoon.

Set in a futuristic world, your friends, who are androids, are running out of the force that gives them life. Now it’s up to you to go on a journey to save them from impending doom. This is a race against time, literally, as in-game clock ticks down your friend’s time as well as yours, always keeping the intensity alive.

This game infuses classic Metroidvania elements that we’ve all come to love with nail-biting combat to top it off. Unlike the majority of the games on the list, this game is not purely 2D and you have the freedom to travel in any direction you want. The game makes finding secrets and solving puzzles rewarding. The game does set markers for you if you choose to follow the intended path, but going off the road less traveled always seems to reap benefits. Some of the UI and RPG elements are annoying to navigate through and often interrupt the fluidity of the game. However, this is not enough to keep this game from being a memorable game with a unique twist.

13. The Messenger (PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One)

A mutant of influences that somehow manages to be unique.

The Messenger can be classified as a 2D action platformer, however, there are elements of classic Metroidvania in there for sure. Brimming with personality, well-written dialogue, and a retro soundtrack, The Messenger is an excellent offering.

Some players may find the Metroidvania elements forced into an otherwise linear action game, especially with a lot of backtracking, but The Messenger still manages to create a thrilling experience. There are super fun abilities to unlock and challenging platforming levels that will test your skills. The Messenger also switches between 16-bit and 8-bit throughout the game, which keeps things interesting as a gimmick. I recommend this title to both old-school 2D action gamers as well as Metroidvania enthusiasts looking for something a bit different.

12. Owlboy (PC, MacOS, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

A colourful and charismatic game that pulls at the heartstrings

A heartwarming and charming game with excellent visuals and gameplay

Owlboy is another example of a modern Metroidvania with excellent pixel art visuals. Set in a city above the sky, you play as a boy named Otus, an owl-like humanoid boy. After your homeland is attacked by pirates, you set off on your journey.

An interesting element of this title is how you use your friends in combat instead of traditional weapons or abilities. It fits the game well and still manages to keep the combat rewarding, fun, and engaging. While it may seem like it’s intended for younger audiences, more mature players will find plenty to love about this charming game, even if the difficulty of the combat or the puzzles are lacking compared to some of its competition.

11. Dead Cells (PC, Linux, MacOS, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, IOS, Android)

Giving Procedurally-Generated a good name.

Dead Cells has a couple of selling points right from the start: it’s procedurally generated, there’s randomized loot, and there’s permadeath. Dead Cells excels at combining these three elements to create one of the most difficult, yet addictive action Metroidvanias I've ever played.

Of course, in order to keep this specific gameplay loop engaging, it needs to excel in the combat department. Dead Cells doesn’t only raise the bar in this regard but goes beyond it. Somehow, no matter how many times you fail, you will always look forward to your next run. The game offers a very satisfying sense of progression, and every time you overcome a difficult spot, the sense of accomplishment is real. All of this, while also boasting an electrifying soundtrack and eye-catching visuals, makes Dead Cells not only one of the best Metroidvania, but also one of the best games released this generation.

10. SteamWorld Dig 2 (PC, Linux, MacOS, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Stadia, Nintendo 3DS, Switch)

If you like Steampunk and Metroidvania, you will DIG this game.

Set in an alluring Steampunk world, you play as Dorothy, the robot, searching for the protagonist from the first game. The main draw of this game is just how addicting and rewarding its traversal is. This is mostly due to the digging mechanic that lets you uncover items and passageways. For me, this is the perfect sequel to the first game, as it improves upon everything the first one did right. The visuals are crisp and clean, the combat is engaging, and so is the upgrade system.

The sequel introduces a few more puzzles and RPG elements to great effect, making the gameplay loop even more varied and addicting. The dungeons are expertly crafted and any fan of "exploration till completion" will have a field day with this. While lacking in the usual difficulty that is found in most Metroidvanias, SteamWorld Dig 2 is relatively easy, but still incredibly fun and cozy.

9. Axiom Verge 2 (PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch)

A successful sequel to the old-school game that made waves when it came out.

Another line of games that feeds on nostalgia and old-school visuals. Axiom Verge 2 proudly wears its influences on its sleeves while also being a super unique Metroidvania by itself. It introduces a surprising amount of diversity in its environments and gameplay, making it exciting to go through this memorable adventure.

You play as a CEO of a tech company investigating a case when you suddenly find yourself in another world. You acquire a lot of the mysterious story through journals left behind by others. As the story unveils itself, you will find an engaging narrative about AI and nanomachines taking over, while balancing this with the main character's personal journey. You start off with an icepick as your sole tool, but the game continuously provides you with upgrades and new abilities to keep the gameplay loop super interesting. These can be as simple as jumping up walls, and some more unique abilities to keep you on your toes.

8. Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knight (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch)

A dark and gloomy game

A great fun Metroidvania with an influx of abilities to experiment with

The story set up for Ender Lilies: Quietus of the KNight seems basic enough: You play as a priestess who has to purify a kingdom devastated by the undead. You make and fight your way through a land overrun by monsters, all the while encountering all the elements needed to make an enjoyable Metroidvania

Even though the story doesn’t really get more interesting than that, the game boasts an exciting map to traverse and some surprising fun abilities that you unlock as you progress. The progression feels open and organic and there will be times where you won’t know which way to proceed. By the end of the game, you will need to cleverly combine all the abilities to fight and traverse your way through, and this is when the game really shines. It’s not going to change metroidvanias as we know it, but is a fun addition to the genre nonetheless. If you can’t wait for Silksong any longer, this is a great substitute for the time being

7. Sundered: Eldritch Edition (Switch, Xbox One, Stadia)

A hectic and colorful Metroidvania with a Lovecraftian twist

If there was one word I would use to describe this game, it’s chaos. The game is heavily inspired by classic Lovecraftian elements, while its gameplay is all-out pure Metroidvania. This gorgeous-looking game gives you new powers and abilities to unlock that help you reach new areas in the game, and thankfully, all of it feels worthwhile and rewarding.

The cutscenes are expertly crafted and look amazing, drawing you into the narrative and themes. While the gameplay does the same thing through its combat mechanics and hectic scenarios, You never feel like you don’t have control. Instead, you always know that you can clear an area in just about any case if you play your cards right. In short, this challenging game pushes the player to think on their feet and keep their composure throughout its beautiful world.

6. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android, IOS)

A classic return for the legendary creator

A return to the classic Castlevania series, without actually being called ‘Casltevenia’

Created as a passion project by the legendary Koji Igarashi, this title acts as a spiritual successor to the classic, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Originally a kick-starter, there were a lot of expectations on this game delivering a modern, benchmark Metroidvania experience. Thankfully, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night succeeds in all departments.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has great level design, diverse combat mechanics, a sprawling map, tight animations, and a tremendous score. The progression system and the choices you have in the way you approach its combat is the real star. You will want to experiment with different abilities and weapons as soon as you get access to them, which even makes the grinding fun in the later parts of the game. This is a must-play for fans of the genre.

5. Ori and the Will of the Wisps (PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch)

One of those rare games you show to non-gamers to showcase how beautiful this medium can be

You only need to take one look at this game-or its predecessor-to know that it's special. This game is just showing off its art style and animations. It’s not only a looker though, but Ori and the Will of the Wisps also holds a satisfying fairytale-like world to explore, with imaginative enemy designs and challenging platforming sections throughout.

One way the sequel improves on its predecessor is the chase scenes that are spread out. These act like big boss fights and are especially fun to engage in, and to gaze at. Some of the later areas can become a bit frustrating to backtrack and find what you are missing, but the overall package is excellent.

4. Metroid Dread (Nintendo Switch)

You can feel the passion in the trailer alone.

A fabulous return to the franchise that has been vital to this genre

Metroid Dread manages to achieve something that was once thought was impossible. It manages to not only honor the classic 2D Metroids but adds layers on top of it to make it one of the best games of the year. This game acts as a grand finale to this epic storyline and despite all the development hell, it somehow manages to succeed with ease.

This will be remembered as one of the defining titles on the Switch, absolutely shining in the graphics department. This colorful and creative alien world looks stunning and never lets up. This goes for the gameplay as well. The gunplay is as fast-paced as it’s ever been, and each new power-up adds to the intensity and the fun factor. Thankfully, the Switch is able to handle the chaos as the game barely dips in frame. All the classic power-ups are on display here adding to that sweet progression that is vital in these types of games. Metroid Dread is a must for Switch owners.

3. Salt and Sanctuary (PC, MacOS, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, Ps Vita, Switch)

A heavily inspired game that holds its own.

Salt and Sanctuary is what would happen if Dark Souls was a 2d action game. Wearing its influences on its sleeves, this game combines Dark Souls setting, combat, difficulty and respawn system, with the exploration elements of old-school Metroidvanias.

In fact, this game doesn’t do anything truly special or unique. However, if you’re a fan of the titles this game draws from, you will find an addicting and fun adventure to add to your catalog. By the end of the game, you will realize how interconnected its world is and appreciate its overall design. Just be ready for some cheap, frustrating boss fights along the way.

2. Blasphemous (PC, Linux, MacOS, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

This is a dark and gloomy game about the descent into darkness

The first thing you will notice about Blasphemous is how incredible its 16-bit world looks. Set in Cvstodia, a haunting world driven by extreme religious beliefs, you will make your way through its brutal world as the Penitent One. Thankfully, the actual game lives up to its gorgeous visuals, making for a thrilling, satisfying yet unforgiving experience.

It has also got one of the most visually striking and repugnant boss designs in gaming, so it's not for the faint of heart. Variety and a sense of discovery are essential in these types of games, and Blasphemous somehow manages to improve with each new area and boss. Blasphemous also has a nice twist on the skills that you gain to reach the new areas that the game always teases you with. Instead of having the basic "double-jump" or "dash", the abilities are more creative and contextual to their setting. This makes exploration extremely rewarding.

Overall, this is a must-have for anyone who enjoys old-school hardcore platformers set in twisted, dark environments.

Hollow knight excels in all of the parts needed for an unforgettable Metroidvania. It's got engaging combat, a huge map with endless secrets to discover, time-based platforming, challenging bosses, and gradual power-ups to unlock new areas on the map. Made by only 4 people, Team Cherry combined the 2D Metroidvania classics, with the more modern mechanics popularised by Dark Souls to incredible effect.

The main thing Hollow Knight nails (pun intended) is how interesting and engaging it is to explore its eye-catching world. If you love Metroidvanias where you have no set-path and enjoy getting lost, this is right up your alley. Boasting an incredible world design with interconnected levels, you can always be sure there's something interesting to find around the next corner. To say Hollow Knight is one of the most impressive games of the past generation would not be an understatement. Team Cherry knocked it out of the park for their first game.

What's a jounrey without friends? Discover some the greatest cartoons out there that portray friendship.

The best show for all ages and I mean ALL AGES! My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has retained all the good vibes you could possibly stuff into a kids show and still make it appeal to adults regardless of age and gender. I didn’t grow up watching the previous My Little Pony seasons but I loved my journey through Equestria with this specific Mane 6.

But of course, every story must come to an end, and as we gear up for another MLP series we can keep ourselves occupied with these other cartoons to remind every pony that friendship is the most powerful source of magic out there. Here are 10 cartoons that any bronie and pegasister out there can get into.

10. Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper

In an unspecified kingdom, two baby girls, a princess and a pauper were born at the same time and shared identical faces but different hair. When the kingdom is about to fall into poverty the queen is forced to marry off her daughter, Princess Anneliese to King Dominic. The princess, knowing her duty to her kingdom, agrees to the engagement but makes a request to her tutor to be brought to the town so can experience her last dose of freedom. While wandering the market place she is drawn in by the beautiful song of Erika who she later discovers share similar features with her.

I want to throw every barbie movie in this list but that should be a separate list on its own, so I decided to go with Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper as the closest movie to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The movie talks about the unbreakable friendship between our two heroines, who, despite only knowing each other for one day, have already put their utmost trust in one another. It has great music, some of the best from the entire barbie franchise, and you have two female protagonists. Barbie has been a known icon to inspire girls to reach for the dreams despite your gender.

Winx Club at first follows a teenager named “Bloom” who knows nothing about magic or fairies. Her world changes when she encounters a battle between Stella, a fairy and an Ogre. Bloom intervenes in the fight when things start to look rough for Stella. She discovers that she does have magical abilities. Impressed, Stella invites Bloom to attend Alfea with her so she may learn more about her abilities and learn how to properly use them. After another skirmish with the Ogres, she decides to go with Stella and learn about magic, leading her to meet the other girls and eventually build the Winx Club.

Travelling to a new land to learn something about friendship and magic—Twilight and Bloom have a lot to talk about if they ever meet. In Twilight’s case her magic has already been polished but she lacks companions who will stick by her side no matter what comes her way. Bloom will learn about friendship and her magical abilities as well. She starts off as the most timid member of the group but overtime develops to become probably one of the strongest fairies of Alfea.

Star Butterfly, a magical princess from Mewni is the next to ascend the throne of the Butterfly Kingdom. On her 14th birthday her parents gave her the family’s heirloom wand. Unable to fully grasp her power, she accidentally sets her castle on fire, leading her parents to send her to earth where no magic exists for magical training. Star now lives out her days as a student living under the Diaz’s family roof while keeping her wand away from the clutches of evil.

The best way to learn is through experience. Twilight was a star student when it comes to magic but never knew that there the strongest magic of all is friendship. It took a firm order from Celestia for her to live in ponyville and learn about making friends. The same goes for Star, her parents had to send her to an area without any magic for her to understand and appreciate her magic more. She also learned about creating friends and family through her school life.

7. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

Two teens, Marinette Dupain Cheng and Adrien Agreste, separately end up finding two objects called Miraculous. Being the two new owners, Marinette and Adrien are now able to transform into Ladybug and Cat Noir respectively. They are now Paris’ crime fighting duo, ensuring the safety of Paris from Hawk Moth who has been transforming the citizens into akumas through their negative energies. Both Marinette and Adrien must hide their identities from the city and each other in order to keep everyone safe.

Friendship doesn’t come without its own rain showers. Sometimes friends fight or grow out of touch due to different priorities. Marinette and Adrien struggle to find balance with being superheroes, friends and a member of their respective families. In My Little Pony, we see the Mane 6 battling similar social problems with jealousy, misunderstandings, shortcoming, self-doubt, peer pressure and other problems.

All of us know Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, but how about her backstory? Tinker Bell is born from the first laugh of a baby and is brought by the winds to Pixie Hollow (a part of Never Land). Every Fairy has their own talents and jobs, for Tinkerbell she discovers that she was born to be a tinker fairy, a fairy who makes and fixes things. The movie series is about Tinkerbell’s adventures and her colorful array of friends, each possessing their own unique talent.

I believe this movie series should be seen by all My Little Pony fans. Remember how the Mane 6 each represent a trait of friendship? The Tinkerbell films are a bit like that with each fairy taking up a main character role for each film. Each of them have to battle a physical boss and their own personal shortcomings to overcome adversities in their realm.

5. Digimon Adventure

On August 1, 1999, 7 kids from a summer camp got transported to the digital world via the Digivices they found on the camping grounds. After finding themselves in another world they befriend 7 Digital Monsters who they later come to learn as their partners. Now, together with their Digimon, they travel across the Digital World to find a way home. Their coming to the Digital World is no accident, apparently these kids are the 7 chosen children to save both the human and the digital worlds.

Another series that shows how having companions could be the best thing in the world? Digimon! particularly the very first series that started the franchise. While a lot of anime and cartoons alike showcase friendships between characters, I think nothing beats the bonds the DigiDestineds have with their partner Digimon and with their fellow teammates. Through their bonds and their crests, they can reach even higher levels of digivolutions.

4. Avatar: the Legend of Korra

After Aang’s death, the world now has a new Avatar, a waterbender in the south pole named Korra. Instead of travelling the world to master the four elements like her predecessor did, she was kept in the south pole and had tutors come to teach her. Now, she has to master airbending from Aang’s son Tenzin. However, Tenzin cannot stay in the south pole due to political problems in Republic City and is forced to travel there to oversee the problems. Impatient due to the turn of events, Korra decides to travel to Republic City and finally do her duties as the Avatar while learning airbending.

My Little Pony is known for bringing strong, iconic female characters up to the center. All the members of the Mane 6 stand out well on their own especially Rainbow Dash who is shown to have a tomboyish personality and isn’t afraid to get her hooves dirty. For Korra, we finally have a female main character who proves her worth as a great bender despite being a female. Let’s not forget her partner Asami who can go toe-to-toe with benders despite not being able to bend elements like the rest of the new team Avatar.

Sakura Kinomoto, an ordinary young girl, finds a mysterious book. Upon opening the book she accidently releases the clow cards that were sealed within it. She finds out that she has magical powers and has the ability to seal the cards. Together with Keroberos, she searches and seals the magical cards before they cause too much trouble in the city.

If you loved the wholesomeness of My Little Pony, then Card Captor Sakura is another light and fluffy show anyone can watch. It’s an old shoujo magical-girl show geared to young girls but just like MLP-FiM, the show has also attracted adults of all kinds. Sakura also doesn’t fight on her own, she, Kero, hero best friend Tomoyo and later Syaoran all help her card capturing escapades.

Adora and Catra are orphaned best friends and have been training hard to join the horde as Hordak’s soldiers. Adora however is unaware that the rest of the planet is suffering under Hordak’s rule. She is told by other residents of Etheria about the evildoings of the horde and now swears to help the rebellion defeat Hordak. They form the Princess Alliance, a group of magical girls who defend Etheria from anyone or anything that causes it harm. Catra who feels betrayed rises in ranks in the horde and makes no move to join her ex-best friend.

Another female centered story where we have a badass female protagonist who can definitely outdo any male soldier that may come her way. She was strong as a regular human but Adora goes above and beyond once she is able to transform into the all-powerful, She-Ra. The show fleshes out the truths and struggles among friends, specifically between Adora and Carta as well as the importance of companions or communities, and the theme of "good will always triumph against evil" is always present.

The show follows the main characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, only reimagined as human teenage girls attending Canterlot High and with a new female main, Sunset Shimmer. The series is set directly after the Equestria Girls Movie series showing off how the girls deal with their everyday life with school, the band, and their part-time jobs. Following the series, the girls also have magical abilities where they sometimes use it to help their everyday life or when magic seeps into their dimension.

If you’ve finished the main series then it’s about time to get into Equestria Girls, before you jump into the shorts better get into the three main movies first. The shorts are a fun watch that show lessons on friendship and everyday situations. The fact that the girls are now represented as humans make them much more relatable as compared to their pony-counterparts. But at the end of the day, you’re still looking at the Mane 6 and every quirk you love about them-- which is all the reason you need to start Equestria Girls.

Looking for great cartoons just like Avatar The Last Airbender while waiting for Avatar Studios to give us more content?

Probably one of the greatest cartoons of its time. Avatar: The Last Airbender has sure set the standards for a lot of kid shows since it started airing. Not only did this show appeal to kids, it was smart and sophisticated enough for adults to enjoy. In fact, with the show now available on Netflix a lot of new fans of the series have started emerging. What’s more, with the creation of Avatar Studios we’ll have more content coming our way.

So, what’s next? You just finished Avatar the Last Airender and now wondering what’s your next big adventure? Despite the announcement of a new Avatar series and a movie, we still have a long way to go before we can watch that. While waiting for the next Avatar show, here’s a list of some shows that might take you on your next best ride.

10. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

A boy named Aladdin, who is a legendary Magi, is brought to a new world by his friend Ugo. Although Ugo can only materialize in the new world for short periods of time. Aladdin then meets Alibaba Saluja who dreams of claiming the treasures of Amon in a nearby dungeon. The two eventually become friends and conquer the dungeon making Alibaba a king candidate and Aladdin his guiding Magi. Magis exist in this world to bring upon king candidates to decide who is worthy of being the king of the entire world.

Suddenly brought to unknown lands to go on a new adventure to save the world is something both Aladdin and Aang share in common. For Aang, he was trapped in an iceberg, Aladdin on the other hand was trapped in a small pocket dimension of a room and has yet to experience life outside of it. They both grow attached to the first people they meet and eventually drag them to their own personal missions. While not a flying bison, Aladdin’s Turban is proven to be just as fun of a ride as Appa is.

9. She- Ra and the Princesses of Power

In the planet Etheria, we follow the stories of two orphans, Adora and Catra who are raised to eventually become soldiers for the evil army led by Hordak called the Horde. Adora, while lost in the woods, finds a magical sword that transforms her into the legendary Princess of Power, She-Ra. With her new found power and knowledge, Adora joins the Rebellion in order to fight the Horde and builds the Princess Alliance (a group of magical girls). However, her new found role is pitting her against her former best friend, Catra who eventually becomes Adora’s mortal enemy.

Much of Avatar: The Last Airbender is centered among the Gaang. If you’re looking for the power of friendship that the Gaang brought along during their adventures then the Princess Alliance can just be the next best wholesome group as the Gaang. Also, there’s the whole concept of passing of powers from one generation to another. Aang is a reincarnation of all the avatars that lived before him, meanwhile, Adora is the first She-Ra in the past thousand years by finding the sword and is able to communicate with the previous owner.

8. Steven Universe

Beach City is protected by a group of humanoid alien warriors called the Crystal Gems. The members are composed of Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl, and under their care is a young half human-gem boy named Steven. Steven got his power from his mother, the former leader of the Crystal Gems, Rose Quartz. While still unable to fully understand and use his power, Steven spends his days among his human companions and struggles to prove himself as a member of the Crystal Gems.

While not as linear as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Steven Universe does show a lot of character development, not only through Steven’s journey on proving himself as a member of the Crystal Gem but growth is also shown through the other cast members. Same can be said with A:TLA; we see the members learn more about their bending and about teamwork as the show progresses.

7. W.I.T.C.H.

W.I.T.C.H. is a French-American animated television series based on an Italian comic book of the same name. In the show we follow five girls: Will Vandom, Irma Lair, Taranee Cook, Cornelia Hale and Hay Lin who gain magical powers corresponding to the 4 natural elements and the 5th element: Quintessence. By gaining these powers they are now the new Guardian of the Veil. As Guardians they are sworn to protect the universe by Kandrakar. For the television series one of the first major tasks the Guardians will have to face is saving a mythical world called Meridian from the evil Prince Phobos.

One thing we loved about Avatar is “Bending” which is the ability to manipulate a specific element. The four elements we see are the classical elements of water, earth, fire and air. We see the existence of these four elements once again in W.I.T.C.H. . While not exactly “bending”, their magic is still a manipulation of these 4 elements (plus one extra mythical element). In the series we see the girls also struggle to understand their own powers and abilities, and learn their duties as the Guardians of the Veil, just as much as Aang is learning about his duties to the World as its Avatar.

6. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts

In the future the world is overrun by mutated-animals known as mutes. Now, humans are forced to live in underground cities called burrows. Kipo Oak is unfortunately separated from her father and the rest of her community when a mega monkey attacks her area. Now traveling to find her family she befriends other humans and mutants who decide to help her find her way home. Her journey to find her family opens a whole new world for Kipo as she discovers more about herself and the world that forced her to live under the oppression of the other mutes.

The main goal in Avatar: The Last Airbender was to stop the fire nation from completely taking over the world. The goal was never to completely obliterate the fire nation but to restore balance between the four nations. Kipo who was just supposed to find her father ended up making other humans and mutes her friends despite being of different species and beliefs, this eventually leads to the creation of the Human Mute Ultimate Friendship Alliance” where humans and mutes alike work together to sustain friendship among each other.

5. Avatar: The Legend of Korra

The direct sequel of Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the four nations finally at peace, a war between the nations seems highly unlikely. There is now a new Avatar looking over the balance of the world: Avatar Korra, the successor of Avatar Aang. Korra is kept sheltered in the south pole and has several mentors helping her master the 3 elements. When it was finally time for her to learn Air bending, her mentor was suddenly called away to Republic City to help resolve political problems. Wanting to master all four elements as soon as possible, Korra sneaks herself away to Republic City. Now she is to face her duty as the New Avatar as the modern world faces several political and spiritual problems.

If you have just ended A:TLA, then this is probably the next series you should watch right away. While still being comedic on its own, The Legend of Korra has older characters and therefore the overall tone of the show seems to be built for a more mature target audience as compared to its predecessor. Nonetheless, if you still miss the Gaang, then fans will be pleased to know that Katara, Toph and Zuko are still around and will make appearances from time to time.

4. Voltron: Legendary Defender

For several years the Galra Empire has plagued the universe by destroying several civilizations and enslaving races. The last hope of the universe is a mecha called the Defender of the Universe: Voltron, which is composed of five lion robots who are piloted by Paladins. 5 teenagers: Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk and Shiro are transported right in the middle of this intergalactic war. They become the 5 paladins to the needed 5 robots to form Voltron. Now they are tasked to protect the universe from the Galra Empire’s grasp.

A mecha show is probably something far out from something like Avatar, which gets its roots from ancient civilization, customs and several other historic references and teachings. But Voltron is a lot like Avatar in themes...only in space, with giant robots. Both shows are created by the same team that brought us both Avatar series so they are bound to be similarities. I found the show’s sense of humor going about in the same direction. plus, a lot of characters share uncanny personalities. Also, saving the galaxy is a lot similar to bringing balance back to the world, just on a bigger scale.

3. Full Metal Alchemist

One day, two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt to revive their dead mother with the use of Alchemy. The experiment backfires causing Ed to lose his left leg while Al loses his entire body. Ed attempts to bind Al’s soul in a suit of armor by paying his right arm. The incident caused the two to never play with human life or souls again as there is no “equivalent exchange” for a soul. However, the brothers do try to find a solution to retrieve Al’s proper body so he can live as an ordinary human. In order to bypass the law of equivalent exchange to get Al’s body, the brothers must find or create a philosopher’s stone. This leads them to become State Alchemist so that they can continue their research on the stone.

You can choose to watch the original Full Metal Alchemist 2003 animation or FMA: Brotherhood, both are masterpieces. FMA, similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender has built an incredible fictional world and a great compelling story to match. The cast also has a wide range of character archetypes and of course the fight scenes are top tier despite being short. If you also love how A:TLA offsets their seriousness with comedy, FMA has a lot of those funny moments, even mid battle.

At a young age the ocean chooses Moana, the Motunui Chief Tui’s daughter, to return the heart of Te Fiti. Before Moana could reach for the heart, Tui carried Moana back to shore and kept her away from the ocean to prepare her to become the next chief. Years later, a blight strikes the island causing vegetations to slowly wither away and the fish to avoid the waters surrounding the island. Moana suggested venturing further out into the ocean to figure out what is causing it. Frustrated Moana tries to sail further from their fishing grounds but is unable to conquer the waves. The incident discourages her but her grandmother advises her by showing a secret cave where she finds a stronger boat that can handle the waves.

So, Moana and Aang ended up with the worst possible job on the earth by being the “chosen one”. We often see these two, though determined to see through their role, occasionally falter with their own doubts and frustrations. For Moana, we see this at the beginning and also before her “I am Moana'' number. For Aang we see this a bunch of times per book but most notably before the start of the invasion during the eclipse and the start of the final season where he feels he failed his mission to the world.

In Xadia, magic comes from the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth and the ocean. However, human mages began tampering with magic and created the 7th magic type called Dark Magic, the problem is they need to capture magical creatures in order to make great amounts of this magic. This causes tension between Xadia and the Human Kingdom. With the Moonshadow elves hungry for revenge they sent the 15-year-old Rayla to assassinate the two human princes: Callum and Ezran. After figuring out the egg is not destroyed, she abandons her mission to side with the boys in an attempt to end the war and restore peace to two kingdoms.

Remember the time Sokka told Yue he was a prince? Well maybe in another world he was. The first thing fans will probably notice is that Callum sounds a lot like Sokka, even their humor is a bit similar. Don’t worry aside from humor and sharing the same voice actors, Dragon Prince pretty much has the same problem and goal as Avatar does. There is this big problem when it comes to divisions of the world; We see humans not getting along with the magical creatures, meanwhile in Avatar, we see the whole 4 nations divided due to their different standpoints and cultures. The goal? Make amends with everyone and restore balance.

There is a great way to enhance the looks of your character too since all extra pouches appear on your character in-game.

A lot of players reported not using the health items given in-game (and there is even an achievement for that), this coin will definitely help you make it through the game and get that achievement. It’ll slowly regenerate your health the longer you carry it.

The recovery coin helps you through one the easiest or hardest difficulty of the game by slowly regenerating your health over time. You can double it up like your other coins as well.

Great against drain bugs or Deimos. Single slices are all that you need to take out these bug vomiting monsters.

This taser like gun has been known to give you that extra second while being chased by Nemesis and definitely is apart of your much-used arsenal.
Ammo is extremely hard to find and often is never dropped while on a playthrough as some players have reported.
Can easily take out enemies one after another. This gun is a slightly altered version for the one given to use in Resident Evil 2 while in the sewers.

RAI-DEN Details:

Named after Raiden, a lightning deity in Japanese mythology, this weapon does pack the power of the gods.
Defeating enemies often count towards Magnum kills. Multiple players have reported a bug that lets you use magnum ammo as well with no fix in sight.

Stats:

As Resident Evil 3 continues to be a fairly new game, there is not currently stats for this modified version of the RE2 remake. There has yet to be another ‘stun’ use gun in-game.
