If an enemy player is detected, Spy will attempt to determine their class, race, and level based on the ability used. It will then sound an alert and add the enemy player to the Nearby List.

When I play as a DPS or a Tank, I prefer to weaken the enemies by hunting their healers, betraying my own kind. Sorry guys!

Which DLCs should you buy for Crusader Kings 2?

Nowadays, you can play with all CK2 DLCs using a monthly subscription. But what if you want to own this content upfront?

DLCs certainly aren’t created equal in the Crusader Kings series. Read on to find out which packs you should prioritize!

Customization Pack

This is a very minor DLC that allows you to customize a few things in your games. This includes custom haircuts, title names, and dynasties within your kingdom. You can also name more children within your dynasty than usual.

This pack is something you might expect from a free update or minor mod, so of course, most players aren’t a fan of the customization pack.

There isn’t much content to this one, so if you’re buying DLCs individually, you might want to skip it.

Jade Dragon

Crusader Kings 2 Jade Dragon | DLC Review

Jade Dragon introduces China to the game. Note that they aren’t fully present on the map, and the map is not extended at all - they are represented on the map by the “Western Protectorate.” You can interact with China through this realm and a special interaction screen.

China can also launch invasions and defend its tributaries on the map. Occasionally, adventurers may spawn and attack lands in the east.

Even if you want to add China to your game, it would be better to look around for mods that include the area fully. This DLC has very little content and doesn’t add many events either. Plus, if you tend to play in the west, you may not even interact with this DLC.

Sunset Invasion

[2014] CK2 Sunset Invasion, Part 1 of 3 - Arumba, Mathas, Northernlion

The Sunset Invasion adds a huge threat to the game. This comes in the form of an Aztec Invasion beginning in the West and spreading across the map.

Originally planned as a balancing force to the Mongol invasion, players often criticize the sheer power of these forces and the inability of most of the NPC realms to tackle it.

The invasion occurs after the 13th century by default, but you can change this to at least 50 years after your start date.

Fans of the Aztecs might consider this one since it adds an Aztec culture and religion, which can either be selected in the ruler designer for a survival-style game, or adopted through conversion during the invasion.

Rajas of India

Crusader Kings 2 Rajas of India Let's Play Hindu 1

In Rajas of India, you can play all Indian rulers. There are new religions, events, and a new war elephant unit. A few extra areas on the map are added too, like Siberia.

The three religions featured in the region are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Hinduism uses a caste and patron diety system. The other religions are a bit more lacking in mechanics but have their own flavors as well.

This expansion isn’t as detailed as some of the other region-specific packs and generally has fewer events and mechanics. However, if you’re interested in India and the surrounding regions (or feel like facing off against a tiger), you might want to try it.

Horse Lords

CK2 - Horse Riders Of The Sun #1 - Excuse The Borders

This DLC introduces a completely new playstyle and a host of mechanics to go along with it. You can play as a nomadic tribal leader, bringing together large hordes of warriors to pillage and raid surrounding lands.

There are a few other additions as well, like a new succession type, new mercenary mechanics, and the ability to create your own tributary states.

Horse Lords is quite limited on the map, so you should only consider buying this if you want to play as a nomadic horde in the north eastern portion of the map. It’s not quite as fleshed out as some other region-specific DLCs but it’s still worth a look.

Sons of Abraham

Let's Look At: Crusader Kings II: Sons of Abraham DLC!

Sons of Abraham mainly expands on abrahamic faiths like Judaism and Christianity, providing more events and decisions, along with the option to restore Israel.

There are some great new pope mechanics, new holy orders, christian pilgrimages, and the ability to force characters to become monks or nuns. There are a few additional decisions for Muslim characters, as well.

This is a good buy if you’re interested in any of the above faiths. Or if you want to replace the Pope with your lover, as you do.

Sons of Abraham details

Sword of Islam

Crusader Kings 2 Sword of Islam Duke of Bulgar (1)

This expansion unlocks Muslim rulers and adds new mechanics, a new government type, and new events. Muslim events and mechanics have a decent level of detail compared to other DLCs.

Decadence is a mechanic that inflicts penalties to your realm if you have dynasty members with poor personality traits or sinful traits. Decadence impacts your whole dynasty, and as a result you need to deal with decadent relatives yourself.

This can be a little difficult to manage if you prefer to grow a large dynasty. On the other hand, if you’d like to play Muslim rulers, it’s necessary to buy this DLC.

Legacy of Rome

I Review Crusader Kings 2 Expansions (Legacy of Rome)

With a focus on the Byzantine Empire, these additions include new decisions, events, and a retinue army type. You can also reform the Roman Empire and there are a few events related to this, like mending the schism.

While a bit limited, Legacy of Rome adds some complexity to the Byzantine Empire and the reformation of the Roman Empire.

Parts of this DLC are region specific, but the retinue mechanic is fun and convenient to use no matter where you play. Using retinues, you can declare war on an enemy’s doorstep and trap their army indoors, so this mechanic is worth picking up.

Legacy of Rome details

Ruler Designer

Crusader Kings 2 Ruler Designer Guide

Another minor DLC is the Ruler Designer. At the start of a game, you can create a custom ruler. A variety of traits can be added to the character as well as religion, culture, appearance, and the size of their family. Of course, you can also customize your dynasty and coat of arms.

This mechanic is balanced by increasing the age of your ruler when adding positive traits or other advantages, and decreasing their age when adding negative traits.

If you enjoy making your own custom dynasties and stories, this is well worth checking out. However, if you like to stick to original characters, this DLC won’t do much for you.

Conclave

Crusader Kings 2 Conclave - Let's Play Scotland 1

Conclave adds more detail to your court council. Council members can vote on changes and issues, such as declaring war, and can prevent you from taking actions if their needs aren’t met.

There are ways to modify their power and call in favors. Regencies, realm laws, and education mechanics are also tweaked slightly.

This expansion gives vassals more autonomy and makes managing a large realm significantly challenging. While it’s not for beginners, it can be a great addition if you want to add more difficulty to your games, especially in late game.

Conclave details

Score: 7/10

The Republic

Crusader Kings 2 The Merchant Prince 1

This expansion unlocks a very specific playstyle as a Patrician, which is the head of a merchant family. Rather than conquering land and holding vassals like in the base game, you instead gather city holdings and use mercenaries to wage war.

Succession is different as well and involves a vote which you can influence by funding your campaign. However, losing this election does not always end your game.

There are various events to go along with these mechanics, such as feuds and trading. This DLC has quite a lot of detail and introduces a totally new playstyle. If you’re interested in trading and gold-hoarding, this is a must-buy.

The Republic details

The Reaper’s Due

Let's Try: Crusader Kings 2 -- The Reaper's Due [Expansion DLC featuring The Black Plague]

Reaper’s Due expands on sicknesses and diseases in the game, introducing a spread mechanic and countermeasures. The most notable addition here is the Black Plague, which can be set to follow its historical spread or a random one. Other diseases will also show up randomly.

There are some very fun event chains related to controlling the spread of disease and isolating yourself… but make sure you have enough food in the castle! Some smaller additions here include new torture and execution methods.

This DLC is great if you’re interested in a little more challenge and variation in playthroughs. Beginners won’t struggle with this one either, since the mechanics are easy to grasp on the surface.

Monks and Mystics

Societies, Sects and Secret Cults - How to play Crusader Kings II

The Monks and Mystics DLC mainly adds societies to the game. These groups, usually related to religion, have several ranks that you can climb. Each rank provides a range of abilities, decisions, and perks.

These societies range from satanic cults to assassins to monastic orders. Some are quite strong and based on fantasy, so if you’re not a fan of the supernatural, you might want to avoid a few.

This expansion is very fun overall and has a lot of potential for roleplaying. It’s not necessary to buy, but most players enjoy this one - and everyone needs to try possessing and sacrificing their courtiers at least once.

Charlemagne

This expansion adds a new start date at 769, which is the earliest available in CK2. This expansion is worth picking up for this date alone, since it greatly expands the content available in the game.

Other than this, the Zunist faith is introduced with its own mechanics, and you can create custom kingdoms and empires whenever you hold enough land rather than sticking to de jure realms.

While it’s not essential, this expansion allows you to explore more starts or have more freedom when conquering the world.

This DLC introduces character focuses. They allow you to choose a specific type of lifestyle, from carousing to seduction, and provide many bonuses and events.

These event chains are diverse and branching; they help to fill in the empty portions of the game when you’re waiting for something else to progress. There’s a lot of fun stuff to try out here and it’s suitable for players who like to roleplay.

This pack is quite cheap but it’s a great addition to any game and recommended for all players.

This expansion is a fan favorite and a good buy for most players. Firstly, it adds a new start date at 867 in the middle of several Viking conflicts. Pagan and Zoroastrian religions become playable alongside fun new Viking mechanics, such as raiding and river traversal.

Pagan religions can be reformed to give you more options later on in the game. There are a number of events and decisions added for Pagan characters too.

For the Zoroastrians, the Persian Empire can also be formed. A few new decisions and traits are added here like becoming the Saoshyant.

This DLC is somewhat region specific, so if you have an interest in playing Viking characters, this one’s for you. The new start date does provide more content for all players as well.

There are also warrior lodges for Pagan religions, and the ability to sway or antagonize individual characters is added across the whole game.

This DLC adds new map generations like shattered and random worlds. There are a few little easter eggs to find here like animal kingdoms.

Holy Fury is absolutely packed with content and it’s a solid must-buy for all players.

I use Bartender hand-in-hand with Lui, as a way to fully replace the standard Blizzard interface. Bartender essentially replaces the lackluster action bar system with a fully customizable mod, players a lot of freedom in setting up their personal interfaces. For example, I put all my spells into three distinct bars which I then clustered and placed together in the lower-center of my screen. This makes it much easier for me to see what abilities are on cooldown, so that I can adjust my rotation accordingly, rather than having to look at separate parts of the screen when using the traditional Blizzard UI.

The addon also lets you keybind your spells by simply hovering over them, making it really easy to switch between buttons should the need arise. Its flexibility is key, and that is why Bartender fits so perfectly well with interface changing addons like LUI or ELVui. You can also choose to show specific button elements like Macrotexts or hotkeys.

We made it to the podium, ladies and gentlemen.

Hide and Seek is the favorite game of kindergarten children and blood-crazed maniacs alike. While there are a lot of Hide and Seek mods, this is my favorite. It contains the bare minimum you need, is simple enough to use, and is very lightweight.

This mod will add a Lua-based flight system, along with a good roster of planes to fly. The default planes are all WW2 to early Cold War, so don’t expect jets or things like that, although you can find add-ons around the Steam Workshop that add those instead. An astonishing add-on, worthy of the silver medal.

1. Zombie Survival

Yeah, girlfriends are cool, but have you ever played Zombie Survival?

And the gold medal goes to Zombie Survival!

This strictly multiplayer add-on will allow you to host a Zombie Survival server, where survivors and zombies are pitched against each other.

Humans will have to survive until a certain amount of time or they’ll have to complete an objective while the zombies have to, well, kill everybody that isn’t one of them. And the best part is that when a human dies he becomes a zombie himself, so there’s not one second wasted waiting for the game to be over. Fun guaranteed.

Blizzard Entertainment have recently released a new expansion into their Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft (WoW). On 30th August 2016 “Legion” was brought out to the public, almost two years after the previous expansion “Warlords of Draenor - released on 13th November 2014.

New expansions mean new playing methods for your characters, new updates, completely new areas, new quests, additional story lines and updates to addons!

We are going to be looking at the 11 best WoW Legion addons you should be using to help you through this new release and to make the most out of the experience.

11 - AtlasLoot - Enhanced

What it does:

AtlasLoot is an excellent and informative mod to the game. It is a User Interface mod that allows the player to browse through all the items dropped by bosses in the game. Meaning that if there is a particular weapon, armor upgrade or token you need, you can easily filter through the loot tables in this mod to find out which boss in whatever dungeon or raid it drops from.

This isn’t the only feature in AtlasLoot though, there are more as you can see below:

Dressing Room feature - allows you to “control-click” items in the system and see how they look on your character.
A “Wish List” - allowing the user to “Alt-click”on any item they want, need or desire and adding it to a wish list tab.
Prices - gives you the relevant information for how much PVP or other token items costs in game.
In Game Collection - enables the user to view all mounts, companions, legendary items and other collectibles that are in the game.
Searching - AtlasLoot knows you may not always know the full name of an item, and has a system to allow you to type in and search what you do know about the item to help you find it.

Why you need it:

WoW has been around for over a decade since its initial release in 2004, so it’s very safe to say the game has a lot of armor sets, weapons, enhancements, tokens, reputation tabards and bosses. So how are you meant to know what you need for your character? How will you know what bosses drop your upgrades and can give you more output from your game play?
AtlasLoot is answer! It provides users to easily access all of WoW’s enormous database of in game content, display useful information about each piece and show where you can get the item from.

10 - NPC Scan

None-Player Character (NPC) Scan is an extremely useful mod to the game, an addon that I would highly recommend any player to have.

How to use the NPCScan mod addon

What it does:

NPCScan allows the user to search and scan for NPCs in the game that are close to your current location. It does this by automatically scanning your surround minimap, the nameplates of NPCs and mouseover target NPCs. When the addon has found an NPC it will automatically alert the user with an onscreen display and audio alert.

Why do you need it:

NPCScan opens up and allows players to hunt down and find rare NPC’s in the game that offer rewards. These rewards can vary from mounts, weapons and companions.

Some NPCs have extremely rare spawn times, meaning it could take up to a week after another character has killed this NPC before it will come back into the game. Having the NPCScan on your side means you can track not only the NPC itself but also see the last time it was killed and when it is likely to respawn.

09 - Sell Junk

Sell Junk is possibly one of the oldest mods in WoW having been created in 2007.

What it does:

Sell Junk is basically an addon that does as it’s name suggests - allows the user to sell junk! For anyone with any experience in playing WoW knows the accumulation of “junk” (grey items) is fast and annoying, taking up valuable bag space. This addon allows a quick and easy way for users to sell their junk to any in game vendors. The user can specifically add any other items they wish to be implemented into this list of junk.

The addon also keeps track and calculates how much gold you have made from selling your junk to vendors.

Sell Junk can also allow you to destroy all the junk items if you are too far from a vendor.

Why do you need it:

Unwanted items are an inconvenience to most WoW players. They take up a lot of bag space, and for items that hold so much storage - they do not have any value for money. They are useless items like bones, low level drinks and food, useless armor and clothing.

Instead of going to a vendor and having to individually sell them one by one, this addon allows the mass sale of all these unwanted items to the vendor in quick time. Allowing you to do what you bought the game for - playing, raiding and PVPing!

TMW provides visual and audio alerts about your characters cooldowns, buffs and any other elements of the in game combat system.

TMW is a very flexible addon that tracks your cooldowns, buffs and debuffs, temporary weapon enhancements, spell casts, rune cooldowns, internal cooldowns, loss of control situations and many more.

The addon can be easily customized to suit the users needs, allowing you to change the audio sound of alerts, alter the text when icons have been changed and more.

Why do you need it:

When it comes to the combat aspect of WoW, whether it is PvE or PvP, there are a lot of buttons and options for you to choose from. Knowing the best rotation of your character for the best output can be difficult, unless you have extensive experience playing your character.

TMW provides you with the guidelines any new playable character needs to have a decent and ideal output to the game.

07 - Postal

The idea behind Postal is provide players of WoW enhanced support when it comes to the mailing system.

What it does:

Postal allows you to track every one of your characters in the mailing system, and up to the last 20 people you have sent mail too.

Postal also has a lot of short cuts implemented into the mailing system to make the process a lot quicker. You can easily remove items or money from mail you have without needing to open it up and then remove. Allows you to swiftly move an item in your inventory to a mail letter without the need to open your bags, click and drag the item into the mailing system.

It also allows you to open all of your mail, or open all of a specific type of mail in one simple motion.

It provides a lot of benefits and enhances the mailing system in the game significantly!

Above are only some of the advantages to downloading this addon to your game, believe me there are a lot more!

If you are a popular player in your realm, or someone who spends a lot of time at the auction house, then this addon will benefit you!

It will allow you to reply, remove and add items/money so much quicker from the game, meaning you can get back to your business a lot quicker than usual!

The standard mailing system in WoW is limited, but this addon adds extra factors to it and enhances the UI aspect of the system.

06 - Bartender 4

Bartender 4 allows a personal customization look to your characters moves.

What it does:

This addon allows the user to replace WoW’s standard action bar that holds your characters moves, and personally customize it to the way that you want.

Bartender 4 provides support for all related action bars; from you characters standard action bar - you now have up to 10 action bars to custom you layout. It gives the option to personalize a stance bar for your character, a pet bar, bag bar layout, an XP and reputation bar as well as a micro menu bar. You are able to adjust the scale and colour of the bars buttons, and even hide unwanted information that comes with the action buttons.

Why you need it:

This is another highly recommended addon for WoW players. The standard action bar implemented by WoW is limited and you cannot get the best output from your character using it.

Bartender 4 allows you to customize the look of your action bars buttons, meaning you can place them where you want; allowing you to put related actions next to each other and enhance your characters output to the game.

It makes using the auction house a lot easier and establishes a more casual approach to the experience.

The in game auction house can be a bit daunting at first, there are a lot of products on there from a lot of players, and trying to find the right items you need at a decent value can be troublesome.

The Auctionator addon removes this difficult process and allows the users to find the items they want quicker, and display them in a relevant order (lowest price first, time left on auction etc).

The Recount addon is a very intelligent addon, and I would advise everyone to get this mod for their gaming experience in WoW.

What it does:

Every time your character does a damaging move, there will be a statistic number for the damage you have dealt. Recount keeps track of all this data and graphically displays it so that you can see the damage output of your character.

Recount keeps an account of every move you have used, how often, the highest amount of damage it has dealt, the lowest, how many times it has been a critical hit and the average damage dealt by this move or moves. This addon will also take into consideration any damage done to a target that characters with pets and other miscellaneous aspects do.

This addon will also track any healing done by your character if you are a healing class, and tracks other important pieces of information through a combat encounter.

Why you need this addon:

Anyone who is serious about the output of damage they put into the game needs this addon so they can track and improve their rotation.

Recount doesn’t only track your own characters damage, but also the output done by other members of your party when you are raiding or PvPing. This will allow you to compare your character to the other members in your party, making it more competitive.

Master plan is an addon brought out in 2014 with the expansion of “Warlords of Draenor”.

The Master Plan addon was specifically designed for your Garrison in the previous expansion - Warlords of Draenor.
It was created to make the prospect of sending your followers on missions and to maximize the mission success and rewards a lot easier.
