Assassin games are some of the most beloved types of games out there. Most have a premise that is easy to execute and hard to mess up. They’re endlessly fun and usually present a mix between challenging combat and puzzles. And what better than to talk about the best assassin games that can be found on one of the most beloved gaming consoles, the PlayStation 4?

The PS4 is personally my favorite console. I’ve had one since they first came out and still use it constantly to this day. I have many fond memories, and many of them were spent playing assassin games, which allowed me to fall in love with the genre. A few of my memories are of playing the very games on this list.

And for such a beloved console, it’s guaranteed to have some of the best assassin games out there. Every game on this list is great, but out of the 15 I have hand-picked, there is bound to be a winner. None of these games are bad, not one, but when it comes to personal opinion, there has to be one over the other. Although I can guarantee you will enjoy the games on this list.

15. Mark of the Ninja: Remastered

Released in 2012 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Linux, Nintendo Switch)

Mark of the Ninja was a game that was pretty well-known back in 2012. It was first released for Xbox solely, but a few years later it was given a remastered version for the PlayStation 4. And I’m glad this game was spread to other consoles, giving more players a chance to experience it.

In Mark of the Ninja, you play as an unnamed ninja who wakes up after his clan has been attacked. You now must hunt down the group responsible, traveling through various levels and taking out different enemies. Mark of the Ninja is a stealth game first and foremost, and it encourages the player to hide in the shadows in its 2-D plane. The art style is fun and cartoony, though that only makes it hard to take Mark of the Ninja as seriously when compared to the other games on this list.

14. Styx: Shards of Darkness

Released in 2017 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Styx: Shards of Darkness is a small franchise I was delighted to discover. It has a concept very different, and might I say refreshing, from the other games on this list. However, like all games, this one is not without its flaws.

Styx takes place in a world of mythical beings and monsters, and goblins are creatures thought to be dumb and greedy. However, in this game you play as Styx, an intelligent and resourceful goblin turned assassin for hire. Styx’s abilities have turned him into quite the master assassin, and you must use those skills to travel through different, well-designed levels and take out an array of enemies. Although, it has to be said that the story isn’t that memorable and the farther you make it into the game the more you find reused level concepts.

13. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Released in 2017 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux, Amazon Luna)

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun spins the original assassin game concept and presents it in its own unique style. It’s similar to Mark of the Ninja in that way, but this one is more comparable to an RPG set in futile Japan.

In Shadow Tactics, you must play as a variety of different characters, including samurais and thieves, to traverse through Japanese-styled campaigns and take out a variety of foes. Each playable character has their own set of interesting abilities, and the player has a lot of customization to their gameplay, not to mention the amazing story. Although that gameplay can be a little infuriating at times with difficulty spikes and weird camera movements, Shadow Tactics is a game worth checking out.

12. Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Released in 2017 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Middle Earth: Shadow of War is not only a great assassin game but a game any Lord of the Rings fan would love. It has aspects from both the genre and the beloved book series, which all come together for something truly unique.

Shadow of War picks up with an archer named Talion who shares his body with the supernatural elf lord Celebrimbor. The story starts after they craft a new ring of power then lose it, causing them to travel the world of middle earth. Shadow of War is fun with a nice blend of traditional and supernatural combat and monsters like Orcs to interact with, fight, and sometimes befriend. There are five different zones to travel through which all look unique, yet those differences are only surface level. The story is also sometimes drawn out and mundane.

11. For Honor

For Honor is a game I was only able to play a small amount of. It’s a complex game with many layers that center around an amazing fighting system that makes any mundane story worth it.

Like I said, what makes For Honor so great is its complex fighting system with many layers of attacks, blocks, parries, and so much more. Combat is very much engaging with its third-person perspective. And the player gets to customize their combat by being able to choose between different factions such as Samurais and Vikings, which all have their own unique fighting style. The story itself in For Honor is very bland, as you can tell the developers spent the brunt of their time on combat and worldbuilding. However, the combat system alone makes this game great.

10. Sniper Elite 4

Released in 2017 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Sniper Elite 4 is another game I was only able to play a little bit of, but I wish I could have seen more of this wonder. It’s a game that takes the known sniper concept but expands upon it, creating more of an open world, sandbox experience.

In this game, you play as an expert sniper who travels to eight different locations and maps to take down Nazi threats. If you hate Nazis, you’ll like this game. Each level is about an hour long, but they don’t drag on, as you’re kept on your toes the entire time. You must use your intelligence and tactical thinking to take down enemies, which means creativity is encouraged. There are also multiplayer modes so you can play with friends. The only miss is that there isn’t much variety with weapons to upgrade to.

9. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a sequel to the beloved Dishonored 2. Though not very anticipated, Death of the Outsider is a great ending to the story told throughout the first two games.

Death of the Outsider takes place after the events of Dishonored 2 and follows Billie Lurke, a fan-favorite character from the main game, who goes on a mission to find an item that can kill the Outsider. The story isn’t anything special, as some of the tropes are a bit cliché, but it’s a nice closing to the Dishonored franchise. The new supernatural abilities that Billie Lurke possess are fun with major differences from the characters in the game before it. This game also takes place in the beautiful Karnaca, which is a plus in my book.

8. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Released in 2015 (PC, PlayStation 3, and 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Metal Gear Solid is a very beloved franchise with many titles and iconic characters. And this game, The Phantom Pain is a great addition to this epic series.

You play as the iconic Mercenary Punished “Venom” Snake who ventures into Soviet-occupied Afghan territory in the year 1984. Although the story isn’t as good as the other games, its open world concept and vast array of abilities makes this game great. You’re free to travel anywhere and have an almost sandbox freedom to complete the levels. You have almost any type of tool or weapon you can think of at your disposal, but that can leave the player overwhelmed with so many things they are expected to master. However, this is one of the best Metal Gear Solid games out there.

7. Hitman 2016

Hitman 2016 is a soft reboot to a beloved 20-year franchise, and the first entry of the “World of Assassination” trilogy. Hitman 2016 is a game I have a soft spot for, and I believe it is one of the best assassin games out there.

In Hitman, you play as the trained assassin Agent 47, a hitman who goes all around the world to complete various contracts and take out a variety of targets. In each mission, the player is left to their own devices in a sandbox setting. There are linear paths to follow to make the mission easier, yet those are merely suggestions. The best part of Hitman is truly how creative you can be and how you can replay a level repeatedly and get different results. But I don’t believe this game is as good as the rest on this list.

6. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

Released in 2018 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia)

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is a worthy addition to the beloved and epic Assassin’s Creed franchise. And like all AC games, Odyssey is set in a beautifully vast world, this time in a rich Greek setting.

Odyssey is the first AC game to be released after the soft reboot of the series that was Origins. In this game, you play as either Alexios or Kassandra, two siblings who were Spartans turned mercenaries in a beautiful ancient-Greek setting during the horrors of the Peloponnesian War. Each character is flexible, and you can have them act however you want to, which makes way for some interesting side missions and story segments. There’s also a naval combat system like Black Flag, yet it’s never been this good.

5. Ghost of Tsushima

Released in 2020 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5)

Ghost of Tsushima is a game that was released pretty recently and takes many of the beloved elements from other franchises such as Assassin’s Creed. It takes the common concept of an assassin samurai but creates something truly unique and interesting.

With an Assassin’s Creed-esque premise and a huge, feudal Japan world to explore, Ghost of Tsushima is an amazing game. You play as Jinn Sakai, a samurai who is bent on breaking his uncle out of captivity, but by the time this touching story ends, you’re left wanting more. The world is beautiful, but combat is challenging but great. You will have to time the perfect attack or dodge and even small mistakes may cost you your life, but that only incentivizes the player to hone their skills.

4. Dishonored 2

Released in 2016 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Dishonored 2 is a game loved by fans for its creativity and innovation. It’s something familiar yet new, with a wonderful assassin premise and a story that will leave you wanting more. Yet, if you do want more out of the story, that’s what Death of the Outsider is for.

Dishonored 2 starts 15 years after the first game during a remembrance ceremony for the empress. During the ceremony, a witch named Delilah Copperspoon shows up claiming she has a right to the throne and orders her men to attack, which forces the player to choose between playing as Emily Kaldwin or her father Corvo Attano. Now, the player must use their supernatural skills and abilities to take down the wicked witch. This game is great for its beautiful setting and engaging story, not to mention the awesome combat system.

3. Hitman 3

Released in 2021 (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia)

Hitman 3 is a game I feel I could go on forever about. It’s the latest addition to the Hitman franchise and the epic ending to the “World of Assassination” trilogy. I just adore this game and the franchise as a whole.

Hitman 3 is the culmination of a 20 year-long franchise that has more or less soared since the first installment back in 2000. Hitman 3 is one of the best assassin games out there, with a great story of assassins and deception, many characters to meet, and a true sandbox experience. You can be creative with this game, and more so than ever with advanced graphics and gameplay. I don’t think there’s such a free assassin experience out there like Hitman 3.

Become a master assassin by placing yourself in the shoes of Agent 47

2. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag

Released in 2013 (PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Google Stadia)

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is regarded as one of the best Assassin’s Creed games of all time, and I can wholeheartedly say that I agree. With believable characters, an amazing world, and an ever-fun ship to steer, Black Flag is one of the best assassin games out there.

You play as a pirate turned assassin named Edward Kenway as he traverses the Caribbean. You can visit many places in this game, mostly through the use of the new ship navigation and combat system. The story centers around Kenway as he is caught in the middle of the eternal struggle between assassins and templars, sprouting into an epic and emotional conflict. Black Flag has a great combat system and is all around an amazing game.

1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Released in 2019 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia)

I can go on about how great I think this game is, but I don’t think Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice needs much of an introduction. It was titled IGN’s “best action game” of 2019 and for great reason, because Sekiro is an amazing game with many premises that feel very familiar yet new and inspired.

In Sekiro, you play as Wolf, a Shinobi traveling through a world of monstrous creatures and demons. The story is dark and touching, as Wolf travels to find the samurai clan that once kidnapped him, yet the combat system is what this game is known for. You must be strategic but also know how to act on your feet, with a challenging lock-on system. And the bosses are interesting and well designed, confronting the player with an unforgettable fight.

Engaging in challenging fights

There are a lot of great assassin games out there to choose from. There are a lot more that cannot be found on the PlayStation 4, but I don’t think you can get much better than the games listed here.

Assassin games are some of the most beloved video games out there. Most offer a good mix of stealth, puzzles, and high stakes action. It’s so rewarding to sneak your way past enemies to infiltrate bases or even go all out and take out everyone at your disposal.

I have always had a special place in my heart for assassin games. I grew up playing shooting and puzzle games and have found much joy in franchises like Hitman and Assassin’s Creed, so I have always enjoyed this genre. And there are a lot of good titles to be found, because honestly, with a good base it’s hard to truly screw up this type of game.

Here is a list of some of the best assassin games we could find. There may be better out there, but there could also be worse out there. But if you’re truly a fan of this genre like I am, I think you will find joy in the games on this list.

15. Alekhine’s Gun

Released in 2016 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Alekhine’s Gun offers a premise very similar to Hitman. You play as Semyon Strogov, a former KGB officer turned CIA agent set during the Cold War. You are given a target at the beginning of each mission and must explore the huge map at your disposal, listening to clues and putting on new disguises to get close to your target. The interesting thing is not only that this game centers around historical events of the 1960s but takes you back in time through flashbacks.

Alekhine’s Gun isn’t a bad game by any means.. This game has an interesting premise but is bogged down by uncomfortable controls, terrible AI, and too many bugs to list. The maps are fun to explore but are too big for their own good, so there’s not enough detail to go around. Alekhine’s Gun is a fun game, but with this much going against it, it doesn’t hold its own compared to the other games on this list.

Choose this game if you like:

Moving freely though open world, non-linear levels.
Playing through historical accurate missions.
Becoming a master of stealth by picking locks, putting on disguises, and use specialized weapons.

14. London Ripper

Released in 2022 (PC)

London Ripper is a new game that you might think doesn’t fit in with the rest of the games on this list, but who says you have to be the assassin to enjoy an assassin game? In London Ripper, you play as Carolyn, a night girl in the cold and dark London. She is quitting her job because she has finally found a husband but must complete this last night because she needs enough money to rent a hotel room. She takes a different approach by traveling to different hotels and brothels to service guests, but she must steer clear of the London Ripper, a murderer (inspired by the real Jack the Ripper) loose in the streets who targets women just like herself.

London Ripper is definitely a fun concept, but I can’t say it’s all that original. It’s an indie psychological survival horror with a nice setting in the popular PSx style, so it’s definitely unlike the other games on this list. But being different isn’t always better. The game tries to be spooky and atmospheric, but it ends up just being too dark to see what’s going on, and the story, though interesting, isn’t anything we haven’t seen before.

An interesting and mysterious game style.
Psychological horror games that will keep you up at night.
A short and sweet story.

13. Aragami 2

Released in 2021 (PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S)

Aragami 2 is a fun game with a premise as iconic as a fork and an electrical socket. It’s set 100 years after the first game and follows the same premise of ninja assassins, just now they’re trying to save their village from invading armies.

Aragami 2 follows a recognized and beloved premise of a ninja assassin who must hide in the shadows to take out your target in beautiful, Japanese-styled maps. The gameplay is fun with a mix of sword and supernatural combat, and though I said assassin games and ninjas are as iconic as a fork and an electrical socket, you have to know what you’re doing or else you’ll get shocked. The missions get repetitive, combat can be annoying, and there’s a few glitches to be found. The game is still fun, but it doesn’t try anything we haven’t seen before.

Choose this game if you like:

Games with single player and co-op options.
Fast paced action and stealth sequences.
The ability to customize your abilities and experience.

12. Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts

Released in 2019 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts is another fun game with a premise similar to Hitman and Alekhine’s Gun. You play as a sniper in countries like Siberia and Russia where you must take out certain elites and CEOs. At the beginning of each mission, you are given a briefing of your target, giving backstory and motives. You then must run around the map and find the best vantage point and sometimes retrieve packages and hack computers.

Sniper is fun because, unlike most sniper games, you have to run around the map to find the right angles and sometimes get too close for comfort. But that leads to a lot of interesting gameplay moments and at times high stakes. Though, you will still run into your occasional slow mission that can be boring. Sniper encourages methodical gameplay and makes the player think through their environment.

Choose this game if you like:

A realistic and highly engaging sniper experience.
Contracts you can go back and replay in a different way.
Playing with gadgets such as drones and gas grenades.

11. Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

Released in 2014 (PC, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch)

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue is the seventh installment of the AC franchise and follows the same premise of an Abstergo employee reliving the life of an assassin from history. As an Assassin’s Creed game, Rogue is undoubtedly fun and interesting, but whether that makes it better than the other games on this list is another question entirely.

Rogue follows the story of Shay Patrick Cormac, an assassin who becomes a templar after being burned by the Brotherhood and now helps hunt them down. Rogue offers the same mechanics of every AC game before it, which gives it great gameplay and world-building, but just doesn’t offer anything new, meaning it seems bland in comparison with the rest of the franchise. Its story is interesting but is at times poorly written, meaning big moments don’t leave the intended punch. Also, Shay is a walking anti-hero cliché, and the entire game feels like a Black Flag sequel, though it doesn't live up to that idea.

Choose this game if you like:

Becoming an assassin hunter.
Manning and fighting from sea-faring ships.
Open and diverse worlds to explore.

10. Partisans 1941

Released in 2020 (PC)

Partisans 1941 is such an interesting game, following a similar assassin premise but much more historical and story driven. In Partisans 1941, you play as a Red-Army commander who leads a resistance team fighting against the Nazi threat growing into Russia during WWII. This beautiful game is heavily story driven, with each character in the large cast coming equipped with their own background, story, and voice actor. Each of these players also comes with their own abilities, strengths,and weaknesses which come in handy when building the perfect team.

Partisans is great because you can go into the mission and try to destroy the Nazi threat stealthily or gun-slinging. The game promotes hiding in the shadows or bushes, but you don’t have to play it that way. The game takes a top-down, real time strategy approach which sets it apart from the other games. Maps reward exploration and leveling up, but I must admit that the AI is quite dumb. However, this game is incredibly well written and even more fun.

Choose this game if you like:

A different approach to tactical stealth.
Customizing your own resistance squad.
Experiencing WWII from a different perspective.

9. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Released in 2017 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux, Amazon Luna)

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun takes the known stealth approach but spins it on its head, taking place in the historical, futile Japan. The game presents itself as more of an RPG, or a board game, making it somewhat similar to Partisans 1941.

In Shadow Tactics, you must go through Japanese-styled campaigns to take out guards and targets using a variety of characters who all have different specialties, such as a samurai and a thief. This means you can really customize your experience and build your team however you would like to. Gameplay can be a little infuriating at times with weird difficulty spikes and jerky camera movements, but it has an emotionally touching story and amazing cast of characters.

Choose this game if you like:

Playing with your own cast of playable characters.
Playing the game at the difficulty you desire.
Exploring ancient Japanese environments.

8. Intravenous

Released in 2021 (PC)

Intravenous is another indie game, but unlike London Ripper, it has a lot less flaws and is better crafted. It has themes akin to Hitman but takes more of a John Wick approach.

In Intravenous, you play as Steve Robbins, an average man whose brother was killed by a gang mugging gone wrong. After that, he turns to a life of vigilante justice, taking an anti-hero role in his life as he hunts down the gang that killed his brother. I like Intravenous’ 90s-inspired style and gameplay, which gives the player the option of stealth or full-on assault. Either option works great, and both pose a challenge with the game’s great AI. It also has an interesting story and well-rounded cast of characters. There’s not much negative to be said about this game.

Choose this game if you like:

Odes to the stealth games of the past.
Stealth mixed with fast-paced action.
Dark and emotional stories.

7. Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Released in 2014 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Coming in with another Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed: Unity has everything we love from Rogue but is a great step up. In this one, you play as Arno, one of the better AC leads, in Paris during the French Revolution.

Unity takes a smaller approach when it comes to the story and the cast of characters. The story is emotional and dark, focusing on Arno and his love interest and then leading to a murder mystery. There aren’t too many supporting characters, which seems nice at first but later on you’re left wishing for more. The map is incredibly well built with great attention to detail that implores exploration, like all AC games. Unity takes a leap in trying to be a more intimate AC experience, which works, but with a map as beautiful and grandiose as it has, it almost needs a few more familiar faces to make it feel alive.

A diverse world to explore.
A small, intimate story.

6. Dishonored 2

Released in 2016 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Dishonored 2 is such a fun and interesting game that I think anyone could enjoy. It offers a premise full of familiarity and original experiences. The game starts at a remembrance ceremony 15 years after the first game in honor of the late empress, the mother of Emily Kaldwin. Soon after, a witch named Delilah Copperspoon appears and claims to have a right to the throne, sending her men to attack when she doesn’t get her way. The player must then choose to either play as either Emily or her father, Corvo Attano, to take down Delilah.

Both characters offer their own playstyle and special abilities, sharing a few common ones, though the story plays out the same regardless. Each level is non-linear, meaning you can go into it trying to sneakily eliminate your targets like a hitman or fully auto. The game is beautiful too, taking place in the fictional city of Karnaca, inspired by southern Europe. Dishonored 2 is an amazing game that the player can truly get lost in.

Choosing between two different assassin characters.

5. Hitman 2016

Released in 2016 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux)

Hitman 2016 is a game I have close to my heart. It’s one of the last games in the Hitman franchise and sticks to familiar, stealth and assassin roots while offering something new.

This game is what I think the definition of an assassin game is. You play as Agent 47, an engineered hitman working for ICA who must go out and take care of your given target by any means necessary. You can truly be creative with this game, with the ability to go at it from any approach, as long as you take out your target. It has some beautiful maps and settings and many interesting stories caught inside its own story that doesn’t end until two games later. Hitman is simply a blast and one of the best assassin games out there.

Choose this game if you like:

Becoming a master assassin/hitman
Completing the missions however you see fit.
Travel to and explore many diverse locations, such as Italy and Japan.

4. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

Released in 2015 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, Luna)

I don’t think I have to explain why being an Assassin’s Creed game makes Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate such a great game. However, Syndicate takes a different approach to AC with having two main characters to play as, which are twin assassins Jacob and Evie, who each have different goals and offer a fresh sibling rivalry dynamic.

Set in Victorian London, Jacob is focused on freedom and liberating his city and often takes a seat at the wheel during story-driven missions, while Evie is more focused on exploring tombs and becoming a good assassin. The map is well-designed, though it does take some time to get used to, as it takes some time to appreciate. The story is enjoyable and is a fresh deviation from basic Ac stories, though its combat can feel a little competitive. There is no perfect assassin game, but Syndicate never tries to be perfect, and that’s what makes it so good.

3. Deathloop

Released in 2022 (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)

Deathloop is a fun and refreshing take on the assassin genre, offering a game unlike any on this list. You play as Colt, a man who is doomed to repeat the day over again until he can take out 8 targets, called Visionaries, in one day. You must use clues and insight to figure out how to achieve such a task, because if you don’t, you have to live it all over again.

You are stuck on the cold, mundane island of Blackreef which is brought to life through outfits and technology inspired by the styles of the 1960s, offering some wacky contrast. Deathloop is a very original game, exploring many ideas to bring a truly unique experience. It has a unique style and lots of fun and interesting ways to cause mayhem. You will have to repeat the day a few times before you can actually complete the game, but that’s where the fun lies.

Single and multiplayer experiences.

2. Hitman: Blood Money

Released in 2006 (PC, PlayStation 2 and 4, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One)

It may not come as a surprise that a Hitman game has made its way near the top of this list, but Hitman: Blood Money is often regarded as the best game in the Hitman franchise and, in my opinion, still one of the best assassin games out there. Though this game is considerably older than the others on this list, that should just go to show how amazing and timeless this title is.

Blood Money follows the story of an FBI agent as they narrate the life of Agent 47 to a journalist, going into so much detail that the player actually gets to live through the missions being described. These are the “roots” I was talking about in the Hitman 2016 entry. Each level is incredibly well built and offers a dark tone, leaving the player to take out each target in the way they see fit. Blood Money has realistic mechanics and multiple animations for every assassination, offering a true sandbox experience one can’t grow tired of. The only reason this game isn’t #1 is because it’s age has started to show, and this next title is just amazing in every way.

Choose this game if you like:

A new “Blood Money” system, allowing the player to make bribes and weapon customizations.
A strong, dark story narrative.
Completing the mission however you want to.

1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Released in 2019 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia)

Coming in with what I believe to be one of the best assassin games out there, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a beast of a high-stakes assassin game many Bloodborne fans will find familiar. It blends originality and well-known ideas to create something amazing that gamers haven’t seen in a long time. Though you won’t be donning disguises or doing much sneaking around, you can immerse yourself in a different type of assassin experience, which IGN labeled the Best Action Game of 2019.

You play as a shinobi named Wolf, traversing through a land of demons and monsters trying to find the samurai clan that kidnapped him. Though the story is emotional and interesting, that’s not where this game shines. Sekiro shines with its masterful lock-on combat that challenges the player. You encounter many bosses during this game, and if you die there’s the option of revival, but both options hold their own stakes that require a thought-out plan. Sekiro is an amazing assassin game that holds its own in originality and excellence, and I believe it is the best assassin game on this list.

Combat worthy of IGNs “Best Action Game of 2019” award.
Exploring a beautiful and interesting map inspired by 1500s Japan.

There are a lot of good assassin games out there. It’s a genre older than both you and me, so there’s definitely a good roster to choose from. However, I believe that these 15 are some of the best out there. But who knows, tomorrow an even better assassin game might be released.

When people start discussing some of the best assassin games, they immediately go to PC games or whatever is trending on Steam. I must admit that yes, some of the best games can only be found on PC, but that isn’t to say that there aren’t any great games to take with you on the go. Everybody has a phone, but not everyone has the money nor equipment to play these higher-end assassin games.

There are some spectacular games anyone could pick up and play on their Android or iOS devices. Some of the names may even be recognizable, because most franchises have started to recognize the untapped potential mobile games have. Although, obviously, they are more limited, there are some true geniuses who have created mobile games that rival what’s trending on Steam. And what genre can we discuss that is more beloved than assassins?

The assassin genre has many, many games under its wing, but you don’t need a fancy PC to play some of its truly great titles. So, here are some of the best assassin games you can play on your phone.

10. Stealth Master: Assassin Ninja

Released 2022 (Android, iOS)

Starting off this list, Stealth Master: Assassin Ninja is a wonderfully fun game which employs the very basics of assassin stealth games. It follows the popular, colorful, blob style of game many free mobile games have. Though Stealth Master is fun, it doesn’t offer anything besides something to occupy a quick minute.

You play as your typical assassin, infiltrating bases and offices to eliminate guards and your contracted target. While avoiding gazes, you must sneak behind your target and take them out with a katana or the weapon of your choosing. While this premise is fine, after a few levels you will find you are simply doing the same thing over and over again. And with no defined characters, bland graphics, and a mountain of ads, Stealth Master is just another forgettable game you will see advertised on Instagram.

Taking contracts and eliminating different gangsters, bosses, and executives.
Playing with a myriad of different weapons.
Mastering stealth by dodging guards, flashlights, and cameras.

9. Hunter Assassin 2

Hunter Assassin is another fun game with a simple premise that is easy to master. It employs much of what assassin fans would want and find original. It’s a big step up from its original title, but you can’t always outrun your past.

As an assassin, your mission is to eliminate enemy guards in puzzle-like maps and even engage in exciting boss fights. You collect gold coins and gems which can be used to upgrade weapons, buy new ones, and even unlock different playable characters. The game also has a fun and bright art style but suffers the same fate as Stealth Master: Assassin Ninja. There are too many ads to count, and levels get super repetitive. However, it’s still better than the first one.

Choose this game if you like:

Eliminating mercenaries and hardened criminals.
Making quick, strategic decisions.
Becoming a master assassin.

8. Assassin’s Creed: Rebellion

Released in 2018 (Android, iOS)

Assassin’s Creed: Rebellion is one of Ubisoft’s attempts at making Assassin’s Creed mobile. There is much to love about Rebellion, and though it pains me to place an AC game so far down on this list, I can’t deny how the game is basically just fan service.

The story is pretty on the nose, as the game describes itself as a mobile Animus device, allowing players to experience the lives of different, well-known assassins and templars. Rebellion has an adorable chibi style which is great for its mobile setting and works as an RPG, with the player having the ability to build their own team of famous characters from the AC franchise. Though it doesn’t suffer from a barrage of ads, it does get repetitive, and it’s very much suited for AC fans, so casual players may not even know who they’re playing as.

7. PUBG: Mobile

PUBG: Mobile is, as the name suggests, the mobile version of the uber-popular Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. Well, it used to be uber-popular. PUBG is still a fun game, but today the name is like a whisper in the wind.

In PUBG, you drop into an open-world map with 99 other players, picking up items and weapons found on the ground attempting to be the last player remaining. It has a captivating premise that started the whole battle royale craze a few years ago. The graphics in PUBG are great, and the game has always been fun as you must kill other players to be the last alive. However, there just isn’t any buzz around the game anymore, and what I meant by describing it as a “whisper in the wind” was that it just isn’t heard of anymore.

6. Bright Paw

Bright Paw is a highly enjoyable game much different from the other games on this list. It’s the first paid game on this list, and though it pains me to put it this low, it just barely misses what makes these other games great.

You play as Theo, a house cat who finds his family murdered in their bedroom. You now must uncover the truth and avenge your family doing so as the family cat. This premise is very original, and though you’re not playing as an assassin, it’s a theme very prevalent in this story. Each level is small but arranged almost like a chess board where each moment counts. Though the story of Bright Paw is great, it can get a little repetitive after a while.

Choose this game if you like:

Complex storylines that will keep you on your toes.
Beautiful graphics and an even better soundtrack.
Simple controls that are easy to master.

5. Sniper 3D: Gun Shooting Game

Released in 2014 (Android, iOS)

Sniper 3D: Gun Shooting Game is one of the best sniper games I have ever played. It has a premise similar to every other sniper game in its genre, but what sets it apart is its masterful execution. Though this game is only number 5 on this list, every game from here on is nothing short of great.

In Sniper 3D, you play as a sniper and must go on various missions and take out a variety of different targets. Each mission has its own interesting premise and objective, making them all interesting, and the player has the ability to unlock and upgrade different weapons, meaning they can customize their play style. It’s shocking that Sniper 3D is a free game. It’s already somewhat popular, or it was a few years ago, and for very good reason.

Becoming the hero by saving hostages and defeating hardened criminals.

4. Hitman: Sniper

Hitman: Sniper was IOIs first attempt at making the Hitman franchise into a mobile game. It has the core basics of why people love the Hitman franchise, just with a twist. It’s mainly a sniper game, but it’s above Sniper 3D for its cohesive story and characters,

You play as Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin who takes contracts for the ICA. You follow the orders from the trusted Diana Burnwood and have the liberty to take out your target in whatever way you want. Though, obviously, there isn’t as much creativity as with the mainstream games, it’s amazing to see what has been accomplished in a mobile game. Hitman: Sniper is a hit, though not the best Hitman game on this list.

Continuing the Hitman storyline and playing with familiar characters.

3. Inotia 4

Released in 2012 (Android, iOS)

Inotia 4 is a game that took me by surprise. I had never heard of that game or any in the franchise, but when I started researching for this list and downloaded Inotia to play it, I found a lot of joy in something I assumed was going to be mundane. It has something about it I find very nostalgic yet refreshing at the same time.

In Inotia 4, you play as Kiyan, an assassin working for the Shadow tribe and, after being tasked with assassinating Grafton, is thrust into an overarching story of assassination and heroism. When you first boot up the game, you’re given the option of choosing between six class types, such as warrior and priest, which alter gameplay drastically. Also, the graphics remind me of something you would find on a Gameboy, which is a stylistic choice I love. With a great story, great combat, and much assassination, Inotia 4 is a hidden gem.

2. République

Released in 2016 (Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Oculus, Nintendo Switch)

République is another game that caught me by surprise, because I had never heard of it, but I was delighted by its existence. It’s very different from the games on this list yet I feel it sits very nicely near the front spot.

In République, you play as a set of eyes that a prisoner named Hope pleads to for help. Hope is stuck in an elusive, totalitarian facility called République, and you must look through different electronics and help guide her to her escape. I love how you never directly control Hope but more give her advice which she soon follows. It has a very interesting premise, and though not a super traditional assassin game, the aspects of sneaking around and taking out guards are very familiar.

Choose this game if you like:

Completing various engaging puzzles and stealth missions.
Interesting storylines with well-developed characters
Engaging in masterful stealth action gameplay.

1. Hitman: GO

Released in 2014 (Android, iOS)

To no one’s surprise, Hitman: GO snuck its way to the top of this list. I believe it is not only Hitman’s best attempt at a mobile game but one of the best assassin games for mobile devices. It’s so original and different yet has a masterful execution with everything.

GO is played almost exactly the same as a traditional Hitman level, just reduced to a smaller scale and presents itself almost like a board game. You move around in a grid similarly to Bright Paw, and every move counts as you grow closer to targets and don new disguises. It’s amazing how much was done in such a small capacity. I could go on and on about how great this game is, but I truly believe it is something you just need to try for yourself.

Choose this game if you like:

Challenging puzzles and challenges.
Playing with familiar Hitman characters.
Beautiful maps and environments with many secrets to behold.

Fun factor score: 80/100

There are some truly great assassin games out there that, 1) don’t cost that much and, 2) can be played just on your phone. You don’t always need some crazy setup to have a good gaming experience, and I believe these games are just what any assassin fan would need.

Why The Hitman Game Is Popular: 10 Reasons We Love It

Hitman is a game franchise that has been steadily popular since the first game was released more than 20 years ago. There have been many games since then, but the last three games, which have been titled the “World of Assassination” trilogy, have spiked in popularity since they are arguably the best in the series. With Hitman 3 having been released a few years ago, it’s about time we look back and realize why these games were so popular in the first place.

There are not many game franchises that have stayed so prevalent over the course of two decades, so it’s safe to say there’s a lot of good things to be said about these games. And there’s a lot – from intriguing storylines to endless creativity, there’s a lot of reasons why Hitman is so popular.

10. The game has an original concept that not many other games tackle

No other game besides Hitman has truly allowed the player feel like a master assassin in total control

Hitman, as we all know it, is a stealth game. It has other aspects that players have come to know and love but its stealth gameplay is the most iconic aspect. Many games have stealth, the ability for the player to hide in the shadows or don a certain disguise, but not many games have leaned so heavily into stealth and has made it a core mechanic like Hitman has.

Hitman is not only one of the only mainly-stealth games to play today, but it has a masterful way of combining it with its other elements. Most games only give the player the ability to hide in the shadows, but Hitman allows the player to put on different disguises and impersonate other people. And all of these actions feel believable while playing as the iconic Agent 47, who is already a master of blending in. Not to mention the intriguing stories that go into each level also. Hitman is a very original game; there isn’t another like it.

9. You can complete the task at hand any way you want and truly be creative

Hitman has become so popular because of how truly creative you can be, with the only wall being your own creativity

One of the main reasons Hitman has become so popular is not because of its storyline or combat, but because of how creative you can be. Hitman is also a sandbox game, meaning you can go at it from any way you want. Although there are predetermined paths for players to follow, experienced plays know those are just suggestions.

There have been some truly crazy ways players have defeated the task at hand. There are speedrunners who try to take out the target(s) in the fastest way possible and other players who have taken more methodical approaches and have tried defeating the game in more wacky ways. Yet all of this to say that you can go at this game from any direction; you don’t have to follow the main story. There are infinite ways to complete the game and you can play it as your heart desires.

8. The level designs are beautiful and capture the eyes of the player

Hitman has some amazing looking levels and graphics that immerse the player

The Hitman franchise has come a long way since Codename 47 was released back in 2000. The latest addition, Hitman 3, has the best graphics and some of the most beautiful levels in the franchise. I think IOI especially went all out when designing this game.

Hitman 3 has brought along some of my personal favorite levels, like Dubai and Chongqing, because they are visually stunning. Each of these beautiful levels just ooze curiosity that makes the player want to explore. If not to find a nice disguise or weapon, just to see more of the map. It makes the player want to come back and see more, and I think that’s one of the reasons these games are so popular.

7. Each level is built like a puzzle the player needs to solve

We already talked about how beautiful the levels in Hitman are from a visual standpoint, but it must be said how great these levels are from a gameplay standpoint. Yes, they look great, but without emulating an authentic Hitman experience, that means nothing. And these levels mean so much.

Each level has many layers to peel back and parts to climb. Most of the time you start in a passive area but must find your way to the target by donning disguises and sneaking through shadows. Though some levels are more linear, most challenge the mind of the player and want them to try different ways to get to the target. Much like a puzzle.

6. The game has mastered the stealth-style gameplay other games can’t seem to get right

The mechanics of Hitman heavily rely on stealth, such as hiding in the shadows and blending in plain sight. Much like what a hitman would do, and Hitman is one of the only games that really gets stealth right.

Most action games have stealth, but it’s mainly just hiding in the shadows. Assassin’s Creed has a nice job of being able to whistle from bushes to alert guards, but Hitman goes a leap forward from that. You can toss coins to make guards walk towards a blind spot, either to take them out or run behind them. There are so many ways to complete the level while being sneaky, and many games don’t allow you to do that as masterfully.

5. You can put yourself in the shoes of a hitman and actually feel like one

You are truly in control of the player character, Agent 47, which makes the player feel like an actual hitman

The Hitman franchise has followed the journey of a Hitman by the codename Agent 47, and the greatest part of having followed his journey is how much we can feel a part of it. We’ve seen countless missions, countless assassinations, and having a hand on the wheel is the best part of it all.

In Hitman, you don’t have to take a back seat but to actually put on the suit, equip the pistol, and go out into the field. You can take any approach a hitman would take and even feel like one while doing so. You control Agent 47, and you get to act like the hitman, going down wild paths you would have never taken.

4. The game is so vast that there is something for everyone to enjoy

Wether it be the puzzles, the action, or stealth, there's a lot anyone could love about Hitman

The Hitman games, though centered around stealth and assassinations, are pretty broad in concept. That comes from giving the player so much freedom, but in doing so, it refrains from keeping them in a box. The player can branch out and find what they enjoy doing.

Players that aren’t fans of the slow, methodical, stealthy approach can complete a mission by going in guns blazing. Some players may enjoy exploring the maps and uncovering its secrets, or finding the wackiest ways of taking out the target. There’s even a mission in Hitman 3 that’s centered around a murder mystery you must solve, so there is truly something for everyone to enjoy in Hitman.

3. The game has many small, individual stories to tell

There are so many small stories told in Hitman. Every mission has its briefing and motives, but even NPCs have their own little conversations

Specifically speaking of the WOA trilogy, Hitman has an overarching story the player can follow along with. It’s interesting and encourages the player to move forward, but that’s not the only story that’s told.

When starting a mission, the player is given a briefing of the target, explaining who they are and what they’ve done to deserve the chopping block. Those stories make the levels infinitely more interesting, because it gives you a purpose and even background for the place you’re in. But one of my favorite things is accidentally stumbling upon a story. Many NPCs around the game will hold conversations or do certain actions which tell their own individual stories, which are infinitely interesting.

2. Each character is believable and fleshed out, making the game feel alive

I found myself really caring for Agent 47, Diana, and Lucas towards the end of Hitman, which shows how well-written the characters are

For a game that focuses on taking out targets, Hitman has a nice cast of characters the player can recognize. The Hitman himself, Agent 47, though distant and emotionless, has a fleshed-out character which makes him fun to play as.

Hitman also has a great cast of supporting characters. 47s right-hand gal, Diana Burnwood, has an interesting character as an agent trying to rise the ranks of Providence to take it out from the inside. There’s Lucas Grey and his connection to 47, but even the targets have their own stories that are told through briefings and hidden details. All of this makes the game feel alive.

1. You can escape from real life and be immersed in the mission at hand

With true creativity and amazing levels designs, you can really lose yourself in a good Hitman level

Probably one of the best aspects of Hitman is the ability to leave the shackles of real life and immerse yourself in a beautiful and puzzle-like level. You can become someone else, a Hitman, or whoever you want, and focus on the mission at hand.

I certainly have found myself losing track of time and all responsibility while playing Hitman. With its believable characters, exciting maps, and everything else, it’s so easy to lose yourself. You can take your time figuring out a certain way to take out the target, or exploring the map, and only focus on the plot of Agent 47. Hitman is such an easy game to lose yourself in, since it’s such a vast sandbox experience, which I know many love.

Hitman is a franchise that has a lot of loveable qualities. There are definitely more than 10 reasons why these games are so popular, but I believe these are some of the main ones. I could go on forever talking about why I love these games, but I hope you like these few aspects as much as I do.

[Top 7] Hitman 3 Best Missions (Ranked Fun To Most Fun)

Hitman 3 has some of the best levels and missions in the entire franchise, with not only stelar designs but never before seen concepts and executions. Each level takes advantage of the game’s advanced graphics which have improved from the first game in the trilogy to bring along true spectacles. Not only do they look beautiful, but they are also some of the most interesting missions, as they are wrapping up the story that was started all the way back in 2016. And some are truly out of the box concepts.

Hitman 3 has a total of 7 new levels, with one being added after release. Like every other game, though, not all of the levels are at the same heights of greatness. But I do have to say that Hitman 3 takes many leaps away from the basic Hitman formula and they work for the better. This game has some of the most original missions in the franchise, but it’s nice to talk about which ones have been seen to fly after that leap and which ones fell flat.

7. Untouchable – Carpathian Mountains

The Carpathian Mountains has some great qualities that set it apart from the rest of the missions on this list, but outside of the box is not always best

Untouchable is one of the most original missions introduced in Hitman 3. It’s the long-anticipated ending to the trilogy’s storyline and is the last mission in the game. Well, unless you count Shadows in the Water, which was added a bit later.

In Untouchable, Agent 47 finds himself on a train in Romania after Diana Burnwood betrayed him (which was a big play to get him close to The Constant). He wakes up at the back of the train and must get to the front where The Constant is waiting. It has a nice premise and makes sense with the story that has been built up, and man is it satisfying to kill the person who has been behind everything since the start.

Carpathian Mountains tries to be very outside the box but actually finds itself at the very center of it. The worst thing a modern Hitman level can be is linear, and Carpathian Mountains literally has the player walk in a straight line. It’s only worth it to play through it once, as there is no room for creativity. There is that hidden ending that’s a nice easter egg to Codename 47, but that isn’t enough to distract the player from the fact that Untouchable is one of the worst missions in Hitman.

6. On Top of the World – Dubai

Dubai is a mission I will always love, but I don't have to renounce my love to recognize its flaws

Dubai is a mission that I have a soft spot for. I fell in love with how beautiful it was when I first got my hands on Hitman 3 and played it over and over again before continuing. That should go to tell you how good I think this map is and how fun the On Top of the World mission is.

In On Top of the World, you are tasked with killing Carl Ingram and Marcus Stuyvesant after breaching the tallest building in the world. The Burj Al-Ghazali is a beautiful skyscraper coated in gold and elegance, and it’s a little different from most maps with it being not very wide but tall, with many different floors to climb and explore. And there is a lot to see and explore in Dubai.

I have a lot of good things to say about Dubai, but when comparing it to the rest of the missions in this game, I have to talk about its flaws. Dubai can be seen as a glorified tutorial, which I can’t deny. The mission is very basic when it comes to the Hitman formula, which makes it great for new players to experience, thus it being compared to a tutorial. It’s beautiful but basic, and the targets themselves are bland. However, there are a lot of good opportunities for fun kills and Dubai will always have a place in my heart.

5. Shadows in the Water – Ambrose Island

Ambrose Island was a nice surprise added later on, but it's pretty obvious it was an after thought

Shadows in the Water is a mission that was released after the initial debut of Hitman 3. Therefore, it isn’t connected to the main story and actually takes place during the second game. However, that isn’t to say that the mission isn’t interesting.

Shadows in the Water takes place on the secluded Ambrose Island which Sinai Venthan controls. Noel Crest is there as well controlling his own portion of the island, and the two work together and meet frequently, however there is a lot of enmity between them that can be taken advantage of. There is also the added challenge of having to deny them both access to the Surveillance Satellite by destroying it or stealing both their access cards.

Ambrose Island is a very well-crafted map. I love the mix of pirate and military themes and how much there is to explore. There’s a lot of easter eggs and secrets to find, which keeps the map feeling interesting. The targets are interesting and there’s a lot of ways to take them out. However, the mission doesn’t feel as fleshed out as the others in the game and is a little out of place. It’s very fun but hard to hold in comparison with the other missions in Hitman 3.

4. The Farewell – Mendoza

Mendoza is a nice breath of fresh air. While every other mission on this list tries to step outside the box, Mendoza goes back to the fundamentals

The Farewell is the penultimate mission in Hitman 3 and is the start of the climax of the story. It has an interesting premise as the only mission in the WOA trilogy where Diana Burnwood herself is actually present to help 47. That makes this mission pretty original though the map itself isn’t.

Like I said, in The Farewell, Diana Burnwood is present and assists Agent 47 as he tries to take out his targets, Tamar Vidal and Don Archibald Yates, who are the only two Providence members standing in Diana’s way of becoming the next Constant and taking out Providence from the inside. Thus, 47 must take them out to make sure Diana can complete her task.

The Farewell takes place on a vast vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina owned by Yates, who is throwing a party. With many tools at hand, 47 has a lot of interesting opportunities to take his targets out, my personal favorite being the sniper nest. Yes, it’s another mission taking place in a mountain mansion, but there’s a lot of hidden detail that goes into making this mission original.

3. End of an Era – Chongqing

Chongqing is a mission that just mesmerizes me with its beautiful level design

End of an Era is one of the best missions in Hitman 3. It has a nice blend of sticking to the Hitman roots while introducing original elements. And it’s in my opinion the best designed level in the game.

End of an Era has two targets, Imogen Royce and the mysterious Hush, who have contrasting fortresses that complement each other. Hush has a hand over the streets while Royce can be found in what’s below. The bright neon city pairs nicely with the dirty streets, and those streets contrast the clean base beneath them. It’s an all-around beautiful map.

Also, the player must hack the data core that Royce is in control of, which centers around an important event in the story. And it’s all quite fun too. The map really encourages the player to explore and listen in on conversations being held around the map. It just falls a little behind the truly remarkable levels ahead of it.

2. Apex Predator – Berlin

Berlin was a mission that had to grow on me. It's very diifferent, but unlike the Carpathain Mountains, its differences are what make it amazing

Apex Predator is one of the best missions in Hitman, period. It strays away from the original concept of a Hitman level all while sticking to the fundamentals. It has everything you would want as a beautiful blend between a great design, an interesting concept, and an engaging story.

Berlin takes place in a German nightclub and has no conventional target, as the targets are operatives tasked with blending into the scene and killing Agent 47. Except they’re actually the ones being hunted. There are about 10 targets to take out, with only 5 being needed to kill to complete the mission.

Berlin has a myriad of targets all while keeping from appearing overwhelming. And a myriad of targets means a myriad of creative opportunities to take the lucky 5, or more, outs. It’s a blast to explore the many corners of this beautiful map and take out your targets in the most creative way possible. I honestly would place this mission and the next at a tie, but alas, there’s something about the next mission I just love.

1. Death in the Family – Dartmoor

And finally, Dartmoor is a mission that not only has a great design but one of the best storylines in Hitman

Death in the Family is one of the most original missions in the WOA trilogy and the franchise has a whole, but unlike Untouchable, it flies outside of the box and soars. I believe it to be the best mission in Hitman 3 purely because of how different and fun it is.

In Death in the Family, Alexa Carlisle fakes her death only to return to her home when her children arrive for her funeral. Stick with me. When she arrives, she finds her brother Zachary dead and suspects foul play, so she hires a private investigator to come in and solve his murder. Except the PI is actually 47 in disguise.

I just love this idea for a Hitman mission. The whole thing centers around the murder mystery and it’s such an original concept to have 47 go around and interview each member of the family. It’s so much fun piecing together the clues, and at the end, the player gets to take out Alexa. It’s such an original concept for Hitman yet it works, and it’s very satisfactory to complete.

Even after completing the mystery, Dartmoor is still fun to replay as there is a lot to find around the map and interesting ways to take out the target. For that reason, I believe Death in the Family is the best mission in Hitman 3, though it only beats Berlin because I’m a sucker for murder mysteries.

Hitman 3 truly has some of the best missions in the franchise. It has a range of missions that stay within the classic formula to missions that go totally off the rails. I think any Hitman player, new or old, can find something to love within this game. And man is it great to finally finish the story started back in 2016.

[Top 15] Hitman 3 Best Graphics Settings To Use

With every new addition to the Hitman franchise, each game seems to be better than the one before it. That’s definitely true for the graphics, and definitely true for Hitman 3. As the latest addition to the franchise, Hitman 3 has some of the best graphics in the entire franchise. Each level seems to take advantage of the newest technology and innovations, leading to some beautiful levels like Dubai and Chongqing, which are a spectacle to behold.

Hitman 3 looks beautiful by default, but with so many settings to mess with, you can make it look even better. It doesn’t really seem possible, but it is – you just have to know what to do. There are about 15 different settings to mess with, so here are the best ways to optimize these settings.

All of these settings can be found when booting up the game on PC. There will be an option to either play, quit, or go into the game’s options. Depending on your PC, you may need to play around with these settings to suit the equipment you have. Though you don’t need an amazing PC to get the best out of this game, for a game as big and beautiful as Hitman 3, some good hardware really goes a long way.

Display Mode: Exclusive Fullscreen

The Display Mode has to do with the screen’s resolution and how the game is displayed. There isn’t a whole lot of difference between Exclusive Fullscreen and the regular Fullscreen option, but Exclusive improves the overall game performance a little bit.

V-Sync: On

This is a setting that really depends on your PC and your preference, but I recommend keeping V-Sync turned on. The purpose of V-Sync is to stop screen tearing, which is when the image messes up and doesn’t align, resulting in the screen “tearing” or splitting. Now, the reason this setting is optional is because it locks the game’s max FPS, or frames per second, which can sometimes keep it lower than preferred. If FPS is a priority, then keep V-Sync turned off, but I recommend most players to keep it turned on.

V-Sync Interval: 1 (100%)

This setting is essentially an FPS cap which keeps the FPS dependent on your monitor display. Setting it to 2 will halve the frame rate, so that setting is not necessary unless your PC really can’t run the game smoothly. It’s not necessary to play with this setting if you have V-Sync enabled, but I recommend keeping the V-Sync Interval on 1.

Super Sampling: 1.00

Super Sampling controls the game’s resolution and works on a scale, so it’s essentially a resolution scaler. It’s best to keep this as high as possible because the higher the resolution the better the game will look. 1.00 is the highest, so that’s what I recommend if you want your image to look the sharpest it can be.

HDR: Off

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is in charge of making the game graphics better. You would assume it would be bestto keep this on, but using HDR uses a lot of CPU, which can slow down game performance since it’s hard to run. It can make the game look really good but at the expense of making it unplayable. So, I recommend keeping HDR turned off.

Level of Detail: High

This setting is pretty self-explanatory. The higher level of detail the better the game will look, so I recommend keeping this high. There is an option for ultra, and it does look slightly better, but it’s harder to run and can slow the game down. Even the high setting might be a little too much to handle for an average PC, but if you want the game to look the best it can be without risking FPS, keep it on high.

Texture Quality: High

Again, I don’t think I need to explain this setting. Texture Quality controls the quality of textures of objects and surfaces, like the floor or a pistol, and everything else, basically. Keep this one high for the best-looking textures.

Texture Filter: x16

The Texture Filter keeps the textures in-game from being blurred when the player is moving or looking at things from an angle. There are a few different options with this one, but I recommend keeping with x16 as it makes certain textures look even better and doesn’t risk FPS.

SSAO: Medium

SSAO, or Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, affects only the ambience of the objects in the player’s view. This can make the game look better, but it also has an effect on game performance, so it’s recommended to keep this set to medium to have your graphics look better while also keeping gameplay fast and efficient.

Shadow Quality: Medium

This setting controls the quality of shadows, like the name suggests, and setting this higher will make the shadows look better. Again, you would assume that setting this to the highest setting would be best, but shadows can be hard to render, so the higher the setting the more CPU the game uses which can slow everything down. If your PC can handle it, then set this to high, but for most I recommend keeping this set to medium.

Mirrors Reflection Quality: Medium

This setting controls the quality of reflections in the game with everything like glass and water. Like shadows, you would assume that setting this as high as it can would be best, but it uses a lot of CPU and can slow down your game. So, keeping this at medium is a nice middle-ground between keeping reflections at a good quality without sacrificing game performance.

SSR Quality: Medium

Screen Space Reflections, or SSR, controls the quality and resolution of reflections but only the ones in the player’s field of view. As we know, reflections are hard to render, so putting this any higher than medium can affect the game’s performance, so I recommend keeping this at medium.

Variable Rate Shading: Quality

Variable Rate Shading is an option that can lower the shading rate or quality of some scenes to increase FPS and game performance. I was stuck between keeping this one off or not, but I think setting this on Quality can keep the game as sharp as ever while optimizing performance. VRS can be a big help sometimes while playing, but again, it’s up to the player whether to keep this on or not.

Motion Blur: Off

This setting can blur certain actions when being performed, like moving or shooting a gun, and is really up to the user’s playstyle. Having motion blur turned on can sort of hide low FPS by blurring certain actions, but for most players with a good FPS rate, I recommend keeping this off.

Simulation Quality (Graphics): Best

This setting is in charge of the rendering of crowds, environments, and AI, so it’s good to have this at best for the best game performance. Depending on your PC, it can slow down the game just a tad, so if you’re facing difficulties then I recommend keeping this setting on Base, but for the best possible graphics, I recommend Best.

With these settings in place, you can really play Hitman 3 with it looking the best it can be. It looked great before, but I hope you can see the difference between these and the default settings. A lot of these will have to be messed with to suit your PC, as each setting may not suit your hardware exactly, but for most people, this is what I recommend to make Hitman 3 look better than before.

[Top 10] Hitman 3 Best Pistols (And How To Get Them)

There are a lot of aspects of the Hitman franchise that are immediately recognizable and can be deemed as iconic. Of course, nothing is quite as iconic as the hitman himself, Agent 47, but when I think of Hitman, usually a sniper rifle comes accompanied with that thought. There’s no doubt that sniper rifles are useful, but something that is often overlooked are the great pistols that are in the game. Just as iconic as a sniper is Agent 47’s trusted silenced pistol.

And there are a lot of good pistols in Hitman 3. As the culmination of the entire World of Assassination trilogy, every good weapon from the prior games can be found in Hitman 3. With so many good pistols, it’s good to narrow down that list and talk about the true best of the best.

10. Concept 5

The Concept just has a sleek design and fun use that I really enjoy

The Concept 5 is a weapon that always interested me. It’s one of the coolest and most interesting pistols in the game, and it excels at a lot, but there’s a reason it’s at the bottom of this list.

It’s a Kronstadt pistol unlockable in Miami, and as a fully automatic pistol it sure is fun to use. It shoots in bursts of three, making it much faster than a regular pistol, with a decent damage output to back it up. The reason this pistol isn’t higher on the list, though, is because it has terrible recoil that makes the gun point upwards when shot. Also, it misses the suppressor perk many of the best guns have.

The Concept 5 is definitely a fun gun to use, but it falls short in comparison to the other guns on this list.

9. The Ducky Gun

I could go on and on about the Ducky gun, but I'll just leave this picture to tell you why I love it

The Ducky Gun is another gun I just love. It’s a Custom 5mm, meaning it’s a small pistol that can be snuck through frisk, but with a fun ducky skin. Though this one is the same as the other Custom 5mms, its fun design shoots it onto this list, no pun intended.

The Ducky Gun is a decent weapon. It’s suppressed but only has 5 bullets, with low damage and rate of fire, but what makes this gun remarkable is how it can be snuck through frisk. That means you can bring this past guards and into restricted areas. Though this gun isn’t as remarkable as a conventional pistol, its niche is pretty great. And who can pass up that ducky design?

8. ICA19 F/A Stealth

The ICA19 Stealth is everything the Concept 5 should have been, though they both suffer the same consequence

The ICA19 F/A Stealth is everything the Concept 5 could have been. It’s a fully automatic pistol with decent damage and a suppressor perk, making it silenced. It’s an all-around great pistol.

Every pistol on this list is a great pistol. They’re among the top 10 for a reason, but some still fall short in comparison with others. The ICA19 Stealth deals with the same issue the Concept 5 does, which is terrible recoil. Your pistol will jerk up when shooting, making it impossible to use it to its full extent. However, it’s still a great weapon.

7. The Serpent’s Tongue

Although I hate snakes, I can say that I certainly don't hate this gun

The Serpent’s Tongue is an epic name for a gun that serves not-that-epic of a purpose. The Serpents Tongue is another niche weapon, and though it has its uses, .

The Serpent’s Tongue works like any of the dart-like pistols, where you shoot your target with a dart that inflicts them with some type of effect. This gun works by inflicting a dazed effect on the target, much like being hit with a flash grenade. That’s a pretty cool use, especially since it can easily allow you to run past guards while they’re dazed. However, like the dazed effect, it only lasts a few seconds.

Though this gun looks awesome, it’s not as useful as the other guns on this list. But it still has a nice niche.

6. Striker V3

When I first unlocked the Striker, I tested it out by completing a "kill everyone" challenge. It went well

The Striker V3 is probably the most powerful weapon on this list. It has a sleek design and is easy to acquire with an insane damage output.

The Striker can kill almost any target from most ranges with just a shot to the chest. That makes it great for a “kill everyone” challenge or just quickly taking out a target. It says it’s supposed to work at all ranges, however I found that it’s not a one-shot from afar. But you’ll rarely use it at that range. The only downsides is that this gun is loud, and it suffers from bad recoil, but this gun is still worth using.

5. Krugermeier 2-2

The Krugermeier family is one I cannot stop bringing up just because of how great it is

The Krugermeier 2-2 is another gun that is kind of a niche gun, but like the others, the niche it has makes it pretty good. It’s another unconventional pistol, but those seem to be the better ones.

The Krugermeier 2-2, along with its variants, take the crown as being the most silenced pistols in the game, having the suppressor and subsonic perks. That means a guard more than 3 meters away won’t hear a single shot you take. That makes this gun great for simple things, like distracting guards and shooting down cameras. However, this pistol doesn’t have very good accuracy nor a great damage output. But don’t let that deter you from seeing the many uses this pistol has.

4. Sieker 1

My favorite thing about this gun is that it looks like the barrel says "vomit troll"

The Sieker 1 is a pistol that works very similarly to The Serpent’s Tongue. Upon shooting the target, they become inflicted with an emetic poison effect, meaning they will seek out the nearest place to throw up, wether that be a toilet or a trash can.

The Sieker 1 is another niche gun but you can probably tell by now that those are the best ones. Inflicting the target with poison makes it easy to take them out by drowning them or just by having them go to a secluded area. Though this gun is situational, and it only has two shots, it has a lot of uses.

3. ICA19

I don't think you can get anymore iconic than the Blackballer

The ICA19, or the Blackballer, is the default pistol that Agent 47 uses and has thus gained icon status. There’s a good reason for that, because this pistol excels at almost everything. It’s also the base for so many of the great ICA19 pistols.

Like I said, the Blackballer excels in almost everything. It has a good damage output, with most targets only needing two shots to the chest, a decent rate of fire, and it’s silenced. It’s nothing short of a classic. There isn’t really anything negative to say about this pistol; it does everything it needs to do. The Blackballer sits as one of the best pistols in the game.

2. Kalmer 2 - Tranquilizer

The Kalmer 2 is a gun that not only has endless utility but is just fun to use

The Kalmer 2 - Tranquilizer is the last niche weapon on this list, but what can I say, the niche weapons are the most interesting. However, out of all the niche weapons, the Kalmer 2 is arguably the best.

Like the other dart-like guns on this list, the Kalmer 2 puts the target to sleep when shot. That makes it better than The Serpent’s Tongue and the Sieker because the target will fall asleep where they are and won’t wake until awoken. Where the Kalmer 2 shines, in my opinion, is taking out guards and sneaking past them. That’s crucial for some silent assassination or suit-only challenges. So, I would say this gun is pretty useful.

1. ICA19 Silverballer

And finally, the Silverballer is not only a favorite of mine, it's probably the best pistol in the game

And last, but certainly not least, we have the ICA19 Silverballer, which I believe to be the best pistol in the game. It certainly isn’t anything fancy like some of the guns prior, but using the Silverballer will never leave you disappointed. As a variant of the ICA19, it has all of its best qualities and more.

Like I said, the Silverballer is a variant of the ICA19, or Blackballer, meaning it has everything that made that gun so good. It shares its high damage and decent fire rate, but the reason this pistol is the best in the game is not for its silver color, although I do think of that as a plus, but its great accuracy. With the steady aim perk, the Silverballer is a notch above the Blackballer.

The Silverballer is arguably the best pistol in the game. It has everything great about the guns before it and so much more. Though not as powerful as the Striker V3, or as niche as the Sieker, there isn’t much the Silverballer can’t do.

Hitman 3 has its fair share of great pistols. They’re a staple of the Hitman franchise, so it’s understandable that there would be so many, and there’s obviously a handful that stand above the rest. But everything stated is still a matter of opinion. Some could say that the Kalmer 2 is the best pistol because of its niche, but I still stick by my pick.

[Top 10] Hitman 3 Best Unlocks (And How To Get Them)

Hitman 3 is a stealth and assassination game first and foremost, with targets and linear ways to get to them and take them out. But the reason Hitman has become such an iconic franchise is because it’s very easy to ignore that linear path of target elimination and put the game into your own hands. You can truly be creative with each level, and that is where Hitman 3 thrives – in creativity and liberty.

One of the aspects that allows for such an enjoyable sandbox experience is the myriad of tools and weapons the player can unlock to aid them in their murderous missions. There are unlocks of all types ranging from shotguns to feather dusters to be used when trying to take out the target or simply do a cool trick. But with so many unlocks out there, it’s good to narrow down which ones are truly worth using. And although this is all a matter of opinion, I hope you agree that these are some of the best unlocks in the game.

10. ICA Micro Remote Explosive

Though this explosive is small, don't underestimate its punch

The ICA Micro Remote Explosive is an explosive device similar to others in the game. The reason this one made it onto this list and not any other explosive is because the Micro is, like the name suggests, smaller than others, meaning it is undetectable when placed into the world.

Most explosives draw the attention of NPCs when put into place, and sometimes that’s what the player wants, but most times it’s better to have it stay there. Also, you can still throw it and knock someone out. There won’t be any issues of NPCs seeing this Micro explosive, and with no smaller size of explosion, this unlock gets its spot on this list.

9. Lockpick Mk III

The Lockpick has always been iconic because, as a hitman, there will always be a door that needs unlocking

The Lockpick is a useful tool that has been found in almost every single Hitman game. It’s become an iconic item with many variants and all are easy to find. The Lockpick in any form is great because it allows the player to quietly open locked doors and get past areas without being noticed.

The Lockpick is a must-have when talking about unlocks, because it’s undeniably useful, but it’s only useful for unlocking doors. Other items, like the crowbar for example, can unlock doors while also being useful for other tasks. However, the use that the lockpick has is extremely useful.And unlike the crowbar, it unlocks doors silently.

8. Krugermeier 2-2 Dark

I have always loved the Krugermeier series, and though it's unconventional, it has endless utility

The Krugermeier 2-2 has always been an interesting weapon branch to me, but I never doubted its usefulness and fun. However, out of all the Krugermeier’s, the Dark sits at the top of them in my opinion. It shares the same traits as its sibling guns, being pistols that are basically silent with the suppressor and subsonic perks, but I prefer the black look of the Dark. Not to mention that this one is easier to unlock.

The Dark is below average when it comes to normal pistol standards, having a lower damage output and only being effective at short ranges, but that’s not where the Krugermeier family shines. They shine in being the most silenced pistols in the game. As long as you are standing more than 3 meters away from an NPC, they won’t hear you. That makes the Krugermeier amazing at taking out security cameras or distracting guards while remaining undetected. Though not a conventional pistol, it’s undoubtedly a useful unlock.

7. Lethal Poison Vial

Lethal Poison is a perfect tool for any hitman to bring along with him

The Lethal Poison Vial is another great tool for a hitman with a variety of uses. Lethal poison is something commonly found in any Hitman level, but it can be especially useful to have a vial of lethal poison already on hand.

Lethal Poison can be used in a variety of situations, including poisoning food and drinks, the air in AC vents, patient stem cells, and so on. Just by walking around the map you’ll find a few ways to successfully poison your target. Most will be seen as illegal actions, but with the right disguise, you can poison a target totally undetected, thus making the Lethal Poison Vial a great tool for silent assassinations.

6. ICA Briefcase Mk III

Though the Briefcase in itself isn't that special, its specific use makes it amazing

The ICA Briefcase Mk III is another interesting item on this list. Any of the other briefcases will enact the same purpose, and that is to hide any item – mainly illegal ones – allowing you to carry them anywhere you would like. The briefcase is mainly used to hide sniper rifles, or at least that’s what I use them for, and allow for you to bring them along in your starting loadout instead of hiding it elsewhere on the map.

The briefcase is a great item but almost useless unless you have another item to go inside it. You can toss it and knock out an NPC with it, but it’s not worth the hassle unless there’s something inside of it. But the purpose it does serve is amazing. Being able to take in a sniper and climb to your favorite vantage point undetected is crucial for silent assassinations.

5. ICA19 Goldballer

I always viewed the Goldballer as a trophy, which is why I think it's so great

The ICA19 Goldballer is a gold variant of the ICA19 “Ballers.” Though this one is the same as the others, it’s satisfying to use because of its gold skin and how you unlock it by completing the game.

The “Ballers” are some of the best pistols in the game, meaning the Goldballer rises among that rank as well. It has a low rate of fire but high damage with the suppressor perk, making it very useful. Using the gold-plated Goldballer makes you feel not just like a hitman but royalty, because not only does it look expensive and elegant, it’s a nice trophy to carry around for completing Hitman 3. It’s just a very solid unlock.

4. ICA Titanium Crowbar

The Titanium Crowbar is a supreme version of a common item with endless utility

The ICA Titanium Crowbar is one of the first tools I grinded to unlock, because I instantly found its utility. It works the same as any crowbar, but you won’t have to go looking around the map for it, as you can select it for your starting loadout. Like the lockpick, the crowbar has massive utility in opening up locked doors, but the crowbar goes far beyond that.

With the crowbar, you can not only open up doors but crates and winches, leading to some interesting assassinations (Paris, anyone?). It can also be used as a non-lethal melee item and as a distraction when thrown. I find it to be one of the most useful items in the game. The only downside is that the crowbar breaks open any door while with a loud punch, alerting any NPCs close by. But that’s not much of a problem when you can just knock them over the head with the same item.

3. Kalmer 2 Tranquilizer

It's hard to find a Hitman speedrun or challenge that doesn't make use of the Kalmer 2

The Kalmer 2 Tranquilizer is a tranquilizing pistol capable of putting NPCs to sleep when shot. Though it can be a little tricky to use, there’s no denying how good this weapon is.

The Kalmer 2 is great for getting rid of distractions. If a guard is in your way, you can just put him to sleep and walk past. And none of those actions will affect your silent assassin rating. This makes the Kalmer 2 perfect for strategical play and during silent assassin challenges. Also, in some maps that have pools or puddles, if an NPC passes out and falls into water, they “drown” and become eliminated instantly. So, there’s a lot you can do with the Kalmer 2 Tranquilizer.

2. Molotov Cocktail

Though not as broken as it used to be, the Molotov Cocktail is still one of the best explosives in the game

One of the best unlocks in Hitman 3 is the Molotov Cocktail because, well, it’s a little broken. Keep in mind that none of these unlocks are necessarily better than the others, just some hold a little more use than the others. And let me tell you, there’s a lot of uses for the Molotov Cocktail.

Though it used to be a lot more OP, the Molotov Cocktail still holds a few neat tricks. Firstly, it’s an explosive device that sets anyone in its blast-radius on fire, meaning it works differently than regular explosives. The trick, though, is that the Molotov Cocktail can set NPCs ablaze through walls, as long as they are standing close enough to the blast. It used to be that those assassinations were labeled “accident kills,” but even without that, the weapon is still pretty powerful.

1. Sieger 300 Ghost

The Sieger 300 Ghost is arguably the best sniper in the game, so of course it's on this list

No surprise that this one was coming, but how can we talk about the best unlocks in Hitman 3 without mentioning the Sieger 300 Ghost? Arguably the best sniper rifle in the game, the Sieger 300 Ghost is also arguably one of the best unlocks. You can’t go wrong using it.

The Ghost is an amazing weapon, with a great scope, great pierce, and being almost completely silent with the suppressor and subsonic perks. It’s the perfect weapon to bring along when trying to complete sniper assassin challenges, or even in regular play. Also, it’s fairly easy to unlock, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to use the Sieger 300 Ghost.

Hitman III is an incredibly fun sandbox experience, and none of that would be true if there weren’t so many fun tools and weapons to use. And the cool thing is that there isn’t exactly one item that’s better than the rest, so there’s plenty of room for creativity. That means there’s a lot to be left for personal opinion, but I hope you agree that these 10 unlocks are some of the best in the game.

You’ll quickly be greeted by reptilian creatures when traveling through Swarftlheim and their agility makes them a bit of a pain to fight. You’ll always find a few of them hiding on top of a pole or a cavewall while spitting hot poison down onto you. Fortunately, Atreus’s sonic arrows can quickly drop them from their vantage point and leave them open for a nice finishing combo.

The Battlefield Awareness skill is a great skill that allows Atreus to launch enemies into the air for more follow-up attacks from Kratos to keep the combo going.

Combined with this powerful Draupnir Spear runic attack, any enemy won’t be walking away after that.

I guess Heimdall didn’t see that coming.

Unleashing all of your runic attacks in an opening combo is always a great way to aggressively start a bossfight. And if this mighty combo string was performed on any other enemy than King Hrolt, then they’d be deleted in a few moments.
