As with most Assassin’s Creed games and most games in general, AC Odyssey offers the player a chance to adjust the difficulty level to fit their skill level. Players looking for a particularly difficult challenge will be delighted to know that the Nightmare mode in this game is both very fun and very hard. That being said, the best way to tackle any game’s difficult mode is to prepare yourself the best you can. A strong build will assist the player by providing unique skills and damages that one could capitalize on.

3. Poison Assassin

Make your way through AC Odyssey like a plague

I believe that Nightmare requires a certain combination of smarts, tactical prowess and improvisation. For this reason, a poison build makes sense to use because it also requires those same attributes from a player. By tactically advancing through large forts, the player could use poison and slowly infect the whole populace. While maybe not as thrilling as a berserker build, going on your journey with an affinity for poison will help you for the long haul.

I must say, this build is impressive. It almost doesn’t feel right watching the video because of how effortlessly the player gets through a crowded fortress. I will note the player’s use of abilities and how they still try to make the best usage of stealth attacks when possible. If you’re looking for a way to absolutely wreck opponents while trying to avoid drawn-out melee fights, this is the way to go. Obviously, the down side to this is you’re pigeon-holed into playing in this style only. Not to mention, the OP has over 310 hours of time played, making this a build that will more than likely take a bit of time to assemble/upgrade.

Wow. This build rocks. Rightfully named the “Demi-God” build by the OP, this build is so lethal and fun to use. As a hybrid build, it utilizes different stat boosts and abilities to effectively make the player an unstoppable force. As described in the video, the AoE of the staff, combined with the use of poison and assassination skills, allows the player to take on every activity in this game with ease. It is highly effective against legendary beasts and conquest battles. For these reasons, I am ranking it as the top dog of Nightmare builds.

For those new to the game, conquest is a feature that relates to the ongoing war. The player may choose to fight for the Spartans or the Athenians, taking control over territories on the map. The activity is a bit different from normal Assassin’s Creed gameplay, as it involves fighting a mass battle on a battlefield. Ergo, the player is surrounded by enemies and should focus more on melee techniques rather than stealth.

3. Poison Assassin

We’ve previously discussed how effective this build can be as a stealth build, but it also has its merits in a group battle as well. While the boosted assassination damage will not come into play during conquest, the real key here is the poison damage and abilities to spread your plague across the battlefield, taking down many enemies at one time. This is an efficient way of wiping out enemies without even having to physically engage with them. The poison assassin build is recommended for players who aren’t comfortable with their melee skills or who prefer to let the passive damage work for them. While effective, it may not be the best possible build for conquest, despite how fun it is to play this way.

It’s quite entertaining to go into a battle with the Athenians while dressed as a Spartan to just wreck with some impressive melee power. A case could absolutely be made for this to be at the top spot on this list, as it holds no particular weakness for the conquest mode.

This build absolutely decimates opposing armies. Blow through conquest like a spark in a fireworks factory. It’s pretty obvious, but the passive damage from the usage of fire is the big kicker here. It does get a little dicey if the player gets carried away, trapping themselves in a fire pit of their own making. I’ve previously stated that this build shouldn’t be used on large groups for this reason, but the thought of burning a whole army is worth an exception . The rewards outweigh the risks on this one, as the raging fires make conquest almost too easy. Highly recommended for newbies and veterans alike.

Take out many enemies at once (stay safe, out of distance!)

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a semi-historical RPG set around 431 BC in ancient Greece. This article’s purpose is to rank the potential endings of Alexios/Kassandra’s journey and tell you how to get to those respective endings. All potential endings revolve around the main character’s decisions and center mainly on the character’s family. Each ending is essentially a variation of the same thing, boiling down to who lives to see the end of the game. Warning: spoilers ahead.

9. Lonely assassin

The Lonely Assassin

Perhaps the saddest and definitely the worst ending, this culmination has the main character all by themselves at the end of the story arc. This is mainly due to the fact that the player has either let their family be killed or has killed some of them personally. Obviously, the hero’s journey is never supposed to end with the hero all by their lonesome, so this falls to the bottom of the list This is not really where you’d like to end up at the end of the game.

While not exactly the ending one would hope for, it is kind of an aptly tragic conclusion to the story. Alexios/Kassandra’s life is pocked with tragedy, and this would be an extension of that theme. However, it still winds up last, as it’s nice to reach the end of your journey with people to celebrate with.

How to get this ending:

You let Myrinne be killed by Deimos OR
Myrinne abandons you after you promised to spare Deimos and then killed them.
You chose to kill Deimos.
You chose to kill Nikolaos.
You didn’t allow Nikolaos to intervene with the whole Stentor situation.
You chose to kill Stentor OR
Stentor doesn’t show up because Nikolaos isn’t around.

8. Mommy time

This ending is pretty much just as tragic as the last, but you have your mother to accompany you at the end. The only thing that changes here is one decision on whether you let Deimos kill Myrrine or she leaves should you to choose to spare Deimos but kill him anyways.

While this is slightly better than being all alone, this is still a pretty sad ending and not one I would recommend if you’re looking for some fulfillment from the storyline.

How to get this ending:

You don’t let Myrrine be killed by Deimos.
You didn’t promise Myrrine to spare Deimos.
You kill Deimos.
You kill Nikolaos.
You don’t let Nikolaos intervene with the whole Stentor business.
You kill Stentor OR

7. Dining with dad

(Video missing, as I would assume most people are indifferent to this ending, and no one has bothered to even put a video of it on YouTube.)

This ending and the next one are in tandem, as they fall pretty close to the same story and really depend on one decision the player has to make. Nikolaos is the main character’s father and somewhat of a bad one at that. Should you choose to spare him his life, it could just be the two of you at the end of it all.

I don’t really think this is where most players would like to end up at the end. It’s kind of depressing to be eating with just your absentee father after watching everyone else die.

How to get this ending:

Myrrine is killed by Deimos.
You killed Deimos
You don’t kill Nikolaos.
You allow Nikolaos to intervene with Stentor.
You kill Stentor anyway.

6. Add in step-bro

Awkward Family Renuions

Well, at least having two friends is better than having one. This ending is triggered if you choose to spare Stentor after allowing Nikolaos to intervene. Stentor is your adopted brother/rival, and obviously Nikolaos’ favorite. Despite this, you have the option to spare him and have him at your dinner table at the end.

Just like the last one, this may not be exactly where you’d like to have wound up, but it’s nice to have more company.

How to get this ending:

You let Myrrine by killed by Deimos.
You don’t promise Myrrine to spare Deimos when given the opportunity.
You then killed Deimos.
You don’t kill Nikolaos.
You allow Nikolaos to intervene with Stentor.
You then don’t kill Stentor.

5. Fraternizing with the enemy

Hey, we’re starting to add more people to this, and we may just have a family at the end of all this. While Deimos may be an antagonist for most of the game, there is a way to save them and have them join your cause.

We are trending upward, as we’re starting to get more people to join you at the end-of-game dinner scene.

How to get this ending:

You don’t let Myrrine be killed by Deimos.
You don’t kill Deimos.
You use your expert language skills to persuade Deimos to turn against the Cult.
You kill Nikolaos.
You don’t let Nikolaos intervene with the whole Stentor business.
You kill Stentor OR
Stentor doesn’t show up because Nikolaos isn’t there.

4. Mother? Father?

(This is another one with no video, but by now, I’m sure you get the jist of how this goes down.)

There’s nothing like an awkward dinner with your estranged parents to get your fulfillment. While this may not be the most popular ending to the public, I think it’s kind of nice to reunite with your parents after everything that has happened.

On that note, you have to make some pretty weird decisions to get here, so I don’t think this is the ending the creators had in mind.

How to get this ending:

You didn’t let Myrrine be killed by Deimos.
You didn’t promise Myrrine to spare Deimos when you have the chance.
You don’t kill Nikolaos.
You let Nikolaos intervene with the Stentor situation.

3. Sans Deimos

This ending includes everyone except Deimos. Essentially, you chose to be merciful and allow everyone else to live with the exception of Deimos, making your end-of-game feast pretty full, but missing just one character.

We are definitely getting better with this ending, but it’s still a bummer to not have Deimos there to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It’s a large and expansive game, so it’d be nice to be able to regale them with stories of your travels.

How to get this ending:

You don’t allow Deimos to kill Myrrine.
You don’t promise Myrrine to spare Deimos when given the opportunity.
You then killed Deimos.
You don’t kill Nikolaos.
You allow Nikolaos to intervene with Stentor.
You then don’t kill Stentor.

2. Just missing Stentor

(Video absent. As this is just one step away from the best ending, it’s very unlikely you made all the right choices but still killed Stentor. Somewhat hard to end up here, but still a good ending nonetheless.)

You’ve spared everyone’s life, but you still couldn’t stand having Stentor around. I get it- he’s kind of a turd anyways. Maybe you have real-life adopted siblings that you detest, or maybe you just couldn’t get past his arrogant sneer. Regardless, you’ve made it to the end with everyone except Stentor.

I have to say, this seems like it would be the best ending, as you don’t have your adopted brother/rival there to bring down the mood. Yet, it still feels empty without Stentor there to join the group.

How to get this ending:

You don’t let Myrrine be killed by Deimos.
You don’t kill Deimos.
You’re able to use your expert language skills to persuade Deimos to turn against the Cult. You silver-tongued assassin, you.
You don’t kill Nikolaos.

One Big Happy(?) Family

We’ve made it to the end, and miraculously, everyone is still alive. Not only did you spare Deimos’ life after he threatened to kill your mother, but you also showed mercy to Nikolaos and Stentor, making you a most merciful assassin.

I must say that, despite all the family history in the storyline, it feels nice to have everyone sitting around a table together. This really brings home the theme of forgiveness and redemption Your past mistakes can be rectified, and not every villain is beyond reason. Enjoy your family dinner! You’ve been through a lot to get here.

How to get this ending:

You ensure Myrinne isn’t killed by Deimos.
Don’t kill Deimos when given the opportunity.
Turn Deimos against the cult. (To do this, you’ll need to earn enough points during dialog options with Deimos in order to persuade him.)
Don’t kill Nikolaos.
Nikolaos intervenes with Stentor.
Don’t kill Stentor.

This game is massive, and there’s so much to do. With that, there's a million different ways to play. A good build for your character is crucial to having fun and playing how you want to play. You’ll have plenty of time to accumulate all of these pieces and try them out. Mix and match them if you please. Maybe you’ll stumble upon a hodge-podge build that suits your play style perfectly, or maybe you’ll design a monstrosity of a build that just doesn’t work. It’s always interesting to see how different abilities and stat boosts stack up on each other. There’s absolutely no wrong way to play. As with any game, don't forget to have fun!

5. Poison Assassin

Aptly nicknamed the “Snake Set,” this build is the ultimate poison damage setup. If you’re anything like me, being a poison master is one of the most fun ways to play Assassin’s Creed, but Odyssey really leans into the poison damage feature.This allows you to stack your poison gear, making it nearly impossible for enemies to escape your venomous grips.

Poison is also great for newcomers to Assassin’s Creed, as it allows the player to inflict passive damage on enemies. Pertaining to Odyssey, poison is especially helpful with the pesky bounty hunters and mercenaries. These NPCS are often stronger than the player and can show up essentially at any time.

Not without its downfalls, this build isn’t exceptionally strong defensively and the weaponry forces the player to a close-up fighting style that may not work for everyone.

4. Archery Pro

Named after the Greek goddess of the hunt, the Artemis set is the ideal build for the player looking to specialize in the long-range attacking style. While not my personal favorite form of play, this set is absolutely delightful to play with. Between the stacking of hunter damage and utilizing some specific abilities, it’s quite easy to annihilate enemies and be the master of bow and arrow.

While maybe not as user-friendly for newcomers, anyone familiar with basic aiming mechanics should be able to pick up this play style quickly. Additionally, two specific abilities should be noted to make best use of this build- Slow Time and Rain of Destruction. Slow Time does exactly that, it slows time around the player, keeping enemies at bay. By using this with the archery build, one could clear out a crowded area by sending off a couple well-placed arrows. Rain of Destruction gives the player the advantage of wiping out multiple enemies at once from a distance.

Similar to the poison build, the defense for this build is not stellar, but being a long-range setup, the player is able to counteract that downfall easily by just maintaining distance.

Not only does this build look outstanding, it provides a nice stat boost stack that makes the player nearly unstoppable as a true assassin. That’s right, the classic CRIT chance. The unique thing with this build is that when the set is fully complete, the CRIT chance actually becomes 100%, giving the player a distinct advantage .

There is a catch! The best way to play with this build is almost exclusively stealth and assassinations. While this can be a fun and challenging way of playing, it’s also hard to always avoid melee battles and can expose the players weaknesses quickly.

Another set that doesn’t offer exceptional defense, it does open the player up to being mobbed and desynchronized. However, the master assassin may see this as a challenge and commit themselves to a game in shadows and bushes. It’s also impossible to go the entire game without engaging in melee, so the player should be at least mildly prepared for this to happen.

Is it just me, or is it getting hot in here? This build is a pyromaniac’s dream. No surprise here that this fire build is towards the top of the rankings. Fire is a persistent and devastating weapon, and this set unleashes it on your enemies with no regard for Smokey Bear.

While it may seem like this build is pretty straightforward, it should be noted that it tends to work better against bosses or individual enemies, rather than groups. The reason for this being that fire affects the player as well and can easily lead to desynchronization if you go Firelord Ozai and don’t clear the area in time. Stay focused with this build and try to control the fire if you can. Remember to stop, drop and roll (dodge aggressively) should you catch yourself on fire.

This is an RPG afterall, and who hasn’t wanted to be a Spartan Warrior at one point or another? The Spartan set is just plain fun to play with, and it actually fits the storyline well, as your character (Cassandra or Alexios) is revealed to have a Spartan background.

It may not come as a surprise that this set gives the player a melee boost, as Spartans were known for being the premiere hand-to-hand combat warriors of their time. Not only does it help you destroy enemies pretty handily, but it also looks incredible. It’s also very fun to use the Spartan Kick ability and really embrace the build.

Coming with pretty solid defensive measures, this build allows the player to just go after it in melee fighting. Don’t hold back! When properly upgraded, this set gives the peace of mind of being able to withstand enemy attacks from up close while also dealing massive damage.

Assassin's Creed is a role-playing game that (spoiler) revolves around assassins. A well-prepared player will want to brush up on the equipment sets that will give them the best assassination skills.

Most AC veterans will agree that there is nothing more satisfying that wiping out an entire fort without any enemies even realizing you were there. A great player will utilize the stealth mechanism to their advantage and attack enemies from the pushes, earning a reputation as the silent assassin. AC Odyssey Gameplay- Spartan Warrior Build

While maybe not a true assassin’s build, let me tell you why this armor and weaponry set is still a viable and effective build to use. To begin, this set is the most immersive in the game, as it allows the player to feel like a genuine Spartan warrior. The reason I included it in this list is because it actually offers some boost to the CRIT chance and CRIT damage, which is generally associated with the assassin’s play style. Additionally, it also gives a 20% boost to All Damage, which bolsters the assassination stats as well. For this reason, I suggest this build to players who are looking for an immersive experience, giving themselves a solid melee build with an assassination boost to boot.

Spartan War Hero Helmet: +25% Warrior damage/+40% Damage on Athenian soldiers
Spartan War Hero Gauntlets: +25% Warrior damage/+10% CRIT chance

Spartan War Hero Belt: +25% Warrior damage/+20% Damage with Overpower abilities
Spartan War Hero Boots: +25% Warrior damage/+10% All Damage
The Sword of Kings: +25% Warrior damage/+10% All Damage/50% Melee charging speed

2. Pirate Build

As previously discussed, the coveted CRIT boost is an essential part of any assassin’s build. This build not only excels with CRIT boost, it provides a literal 100% CRIT chance, while adding in a 100% CRIT damage as well. On top of all that, the pirate set provides for a 150% assassination damage boost. All of this adds up to be an impressive assassin’s build, allowing the player to stay in shadows with the confidence of being a lethal force. This build is particularly fun to play with because the player can take down enemies that are much stronger, allowing the player to progress quickly and take out strong opponents without much of a thought.

Pirate Hood: +25% Assassin damage/+20% CRIT Chance while full health
Pirate Gauntlets: +25% Assassin damage/+50% CRIT damage
Pirate Armor: +25% Assassin damage/+50% Adrenaline on assassination klill
Pirate Waistband: +25% Assassin damage/+10% CRIT chance
Pirate Treads: +25% Assassin damage/+20% CRIT Chance while full health
Xiphos of Dionysos: +25% Assassin damage/+50% CRIT Damage/+20% damage with Hero Strike ability
Any bow that adds CRIT chance

1. Poison Assassin

AC Odyssey Gameplay- Poison Assassin Build

Wow, this build is just a blast to use. I think poison is an assassin’s best friend. Coming with a +175% boost to assassination damage, this set is by far the best in that regard. In addition to the absurd assassination boost, this build is an absolute force with the poison damage. The player is able to inflict passive damage on enemies, giving them the opportunity to move from enemy to enemy very quickly. The poison is also infectious, so it spreads amongst enemies in a close group. If you’re looking for the best way to play AC Odyssey while staying in the shadows as much as possible, this is the premiere build.
