Fields of Glory 2: Medieval is a strategy and turn-based tactics game. It has a focus on the combat matching of various nations’ equipment and training with a strict historical focus. The battles take place in a turn-based 3D. Movement and moral are important considerations, and is a great marriage of tactics and strategy.

The combat system is very challenging, with every move you make requiring careful consideration. The turn-based nature and small unit sizes gives this game a slightly retro feel, along with that retro difficulty! Any strategy or tactics enjoyer will love this game.

24. Rustler: Grand Theft Horse (2021)

Rustler: Grand Theft Horse is a top-down open world game evoking early Grand Theft Auto in both top-down presentation and in the delight, Rustler takes in letting you cause chaos. The game is surprisingly dense, and honestly presents hours of fun.

Northgard is a strategy and colony sim game with RTS combat. You control a group of Vikings, who recently discovered a new continent. Your job is to set up a new home, and fight those who would give you a less than warm welcome.

The strategy is solid and gives me nostalgia for RTSs of old. The art style is both charming and atmospheric, giving you the feeling of being in a hostile environment, but of being in that hostile place with the people who make it home.

Mordhau is a multiplayer, first-person swordplay, game with team-based battles. Team-based is emphasized, as no matter how badass you are, you’ll need your team to not get overwhelmed and then stabbed in the back, to death. You create a custom mercenary and participate in battles, earn experience to purchase and trying out new weapons, gear and tactics.

This game really gives you the feeling of being on a battlefield of old; which is to say that it is stressful, death is always close and all you can do is swing for your life! The swordplay is amazing, with an easy to learn hard to master system of strikes, stabs and parries.

The core idea of this game is brilliant, and the gameplay itself is very entertaining, which is why it is not lower down, but the player base is not very consistent. If you give this one a look and like what you see, check if some friends won’t also be interested. Play with friends for a really good time, because joining a random team can sometimes mean waiting in a lobby for a while.

The sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem released earlier this year, so play that if you’ve already played this one.

Logic Arts have created an in-depth party system, allowing you customize, upgrade and get attached to your clan members. You really feel like a chieftain leading the charge, and the turn-based combat in a 3D arena with a tactical focus makes you feel like a very clever chieftain indeed.

Assassin’s Creed, the game that started one of the biggest franchises in gaming history. We often forget about this one, as most people revisit Assassin’s Creed 2, but this was cutting edge for the time! Stealth might not have been the best, but the core of the combat staple for most of the series is already here.

Yes, other games in this series does stealth better. Yes, the horseback travel felt too short and too long at the same time. Yes, the missing finger thing didn’t make sense. But it is still a good game dammit! Go and replay it if you don’t believe me.

Manage politics, both internal and global. March armies to victory and lead your nation to eternal glory! You pick between several leader to control, and take their kingdom to greater victories, and survive attempts to take power from you.

12. For Honor (2017)

For Honor is a combat focused team-based battle game. You take control of a warrior from one of three cultures; middle European knights, Nordic Vikings, and Japanese Samurai.

The mele combat system is both engaging and fun. It feels realistic while maintaining an arcadie implementation. If you are not familiar with swordplay games and want to give them a go, this is very good place to get your feet wet.

11. Medieval Engineers (2015)

Medieval Engineers is an indie, early access medieval building, combat and management sandbox, developed by Keen Software House. It’s an interesting if unfinished game worth your time if the concept interests you.

The idea is fun, a dynamic world dictated by a multiplayer community. The down side is in the implementation, which is charming in its own way, but obviously not for everyone. If Keen Software House puts in the work, this will be a great indie game.

10. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare (2012)

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a first-person swordplay game with a team combat focus. You pick between one of four classes and assist your team to victory! The combat is all about managing stamina while hacking and stabbing your way through your enemies, and blocking incoming attacks.

The sweaty feeling of being a man at arms trying to hold off a vanguard charge is only worth it because of the victorious feeling when you can break their charge and move in for the kill. And the only feeling better than that is being in the vanguard, performing a successful charge. The sequel dropped while writing this, so go check that out, too!

Ancestors Legacy is a Viking themed RTS with a focus on tactics, morale and movement. Developed by Destructive Creations the combat follows their name, and feels brutal! There are various nations in conflict, and you must lead yours to victory.

Ancestors Legacy is a true refinement of what makes an RTS great. A fast pace, troops with specialised uses and gorgeous graphics. Every animation has detail and was crafted with love, so go and appreciate that dark, violent love.

8. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (2018)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is not only a first-person swordplay RPG, but a peasant simulator. You are the young Henry, a blacksmith’s son filled with dreams of combat and glory. You are tasked with delivering a sword your father made, and your adventure opens up from there.

Kingdom Come is a dedicated RPG, with dialogue mechanics, making talking your way around certain issues a possibility. The combat is rather confusing at first, and can be frustrating. This works, as you and Henry are learning to use weapons together. Of course, fighting with a sword is not as simple as clicking once and defeating an enemy. This game makes me feel like I would in a real sword fight, using real life stances and fighting styles. The story is engaging, and despite a learning curve, worth it.

7. Wartales (2022)

Wartales is an open world RPG with turn-based combat mechanics. You are a small band of mercenaries seeking fortune, glory, and a place to rest for the night. You must make your own fate from there.

Many medieval mechanics can feel less like a delicate balance of fury and tactics, and more like a crazed lumberjack, swinging wildly until nothing taller than your knees are left standing. Wartales has a strategic and tactical focus, with combat becoming a dance you choreograph in real time. Highly recommend this game.

6. The Witch 3: Wild Hunt (2015)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is CD Projekt Red's magnum opice, and one of the best RPGs of all time. You are Geralt, tasked with a single quest, to find a child. The game world opens up from this set up, allowing you to take Geralt on many adventures!

The world of the Witcher is based on Medieval Europe, specifically Poland. I tried to avoid outright fantasy when compiling this list, but seeing as it is set within a version of a medieval society, and it is one of the best games of all time, I had to place it on the list. Do yourself two favors:

One: Tell everyone you're going away for a week.

Two: Play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

5. Thief 2 (2000)

Thief 2 is one of the best and most dynamic stealth games of all time. It is old, but pure gold. You are a very skilled burglar, and your only concern is taking some fancy things in your fictional kingdom. The story that unfolds is great, and the storytelling is sprinkled throughout the world to find organically.

This game is either already in your possession, or you’ve barely heard of it. For a modern gamer this might be a harder sell, but trust me and immerse yourself in the incredible stealth and stealing.

4. Besieged (2015)

Besieged is a funny little game. A physics-based vehicle building sim, you are given tools to create an epic siege weapon, and then given enemies to destroy. The real beauty of this game is using your imagination, and being able to enact it in the game.

Besieged has near endless re-playability as you devise newer and better way to annihilate those who stand in your way! It is deceptively difficult, so come for the fun and stay for the challenge.

3. Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord (2020)

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is an open world RPG that sees the player take control of an unknown warrior with big things in store. From humble beginnings to leading your armies and expanding your own kingdom, this puts the Role and Playing in RPGs.

The tactical capability is the best yet, ironically, as it is a prequel. Not only can you customize your entire warband, but build them around your desired martial focus. This is a game for anyone who wants a real rags-to-riches journey with large scale battles in-between. If that sounds fun, this is the game for you.

2. Age of Empires II (1999)

Age of Empires II is the RTS you think of when anyone says, “RTS”. The Definitive Edition release on Steam is the version for the modern gamer, even if the og will always make me smile.

The mechanics migh have aged slightly, with other entries on this list refining elements of the RTS genre, but there is something to the simpler formula that reminds us what makes the RTS great!

1. Total War: Medieval II - Definitive Edition (2006)

Total War: Medieval II is one of the best grand strategy games ever made. Like all Total war games, you are tasked with the responsibilities of military expansion, internal politics and diplomatic relationships. The Definitive Edition comes with the Kingdoms expansion, meaning hundreds of hours of campaigning.

Pick your nation and take it from there! The battles are fought in real time (I mean, you can auto-resolve them, but why would you?) on a fully 3D tactical map. They are long, gritty and require great tactical consideration. Morale is vitally important, so don’t get surrounded. For the King! You have been excommunicated.

For Honor Tier List [Strongest and Weakest Heroes Revealed]

If we’re talking smashing and stabbing, For Honor is probably the go-to game across all consoles! From heavyset brutes with spiked kanabo logs, ready to drop divine judgment on the enemy’s heads, to shifty slashers with hooded faces and deadly blades ripe for bloody assassinations.

Among the almost 30 different heroes, all with various skill types and movesets, we here at Gamers Decide have put together a list, ranging from the top heroes and classes to the lesser-tier classes.

S-Tier (Offers incredible movesets while also having great recovery. Players that are excellent at these characters will more than likely have the overall chance of winning)

[Top Heroes]

Shugoki

The Shugoki are the enforcers of the Samurai faction, large warriors with ungainly, yet incredibly powerful weapons. The Shugoki are the guardians of their faction and though they may look small and cumbersome, do not let that fool you from their indomitable will and iron-clad strength.

Shugoki is an absolute S-Tier hero currently. He now has a forward and side bash, which does guaranteed damage if he decides to target swap. There is no need to initiate another light attack.

His zone attack is still coated by hyper armor, an odd sight to see in the game’s current season but still, a welcome advantage for Shugoki-mains.

The Shugoki’s heavy also has incredible range, in addition to his hug attack (a perfect setup for ganking procedures). Like most others on this list he is a dependable single-combat and team player and once mastered, can be absolutely deadly.

Shugoki Hero Rating: 98/100

Kensei

The Kensei are the living incarnations of the Samurai’s way of the warrior, Bushido. The Kensei act as the vanguards of the Samurai and are masters of multiple forms of martial arts. With entire decades spent on honing their craft and striving for a level of perfection few other warriors can reach, the Kensei are formidable, with or without any help.

Kensei is one of the best team heroes and anti-gankers For Honor currently has. Kensei's ability to stall in battle and make room for their teammates to either recover or take advantage of the enemy is unparalleled.

They, along with the Warden, are one of the most balanced heroes the game has to offer.

The Kensei is a great peeler, long-ranged light, and heavy attacks, great hyper armor after the dodge, fast recovery on most of his feats, and his great fourth feat make him an excellent fighter.

Kensei Hero Rating: 96/100

Warlord

The Warlord, unlike others, has never been born into anything. Everything The Warlord has, he has earned. Blood, sweat, and metal are the three things that guarantee his respect. His shield protects those who cannot protect themselves and their simple yet incredible brutal fighting style has them at the front of every charge.

The Warlord is an absolute menace when it comes to ledges. He will push you off if you’re near one, so be prepared if you’re going up against an experienced main. The Warlord is also an incredible team hero, with the ability to carry his team, with pretty much the ultimate anti-ganking moveset among most of the other heroes, especially with his stalling gifts on the battlefield.

His headbutt is also an incredibly annoying stun, and if he catches you mid-run, be sure to not be on an elevated part of any map, his crashing charge

Warlord Hero Rating 95/100

Warmonger

The Warmonger exists for one thing, and that is a new era. She isn’t worried about the petty livelihoods of these inferior factions, they’re beneath her. The leader of the cultist army, the Order of Horkos, embedded with members from all factions, the Warmongers reject the old gods and strive for a new age, and they’ll stop at nothing to achieve it.

Because of her feats, 50/50 vortex, and her enhanced lights she is pretty much a juggernaut on the battlefield, no parry needed.

Her forward dodge and undodgeable heavy that will track if you try to go left, right, and back is quite lethal in one-on-ones.

Her dodge heavy is perfect for OS pressure in addition to her slap attack, which puts her in a similar category to a Lawbringer.

Warmonger Hero Rating: 92/100

Hitokiri

The Samurai has a long-held tale, one of a set of executioners from long ago. Hitokiri, a word meaning “manslayers” without a heart. With their masakiri in hand, large axes used to dole out quick and heavy devastation, they enact their lack of humanity on any poor soul that happens to delve too deep into the shadows of their faction.

Hitokiri is an absolute unit, their 50/50s and heavys are pretty much undodgeable. Their hyper armor, heavy spam, and chain unblockable make them a nigh-unstoppable force on the battlefield. You do not need to know much about this character to dominate in games, especially in one-on-ones such as duels and brawls.

Her neutral heavy is very good for indicator spam, and overall they are a strong pick amongst the Samurai heroes. What stands out amongst most of these S-tiers rings true for the Hitorkiri as well, they are great on their own and in a team.

Hitokiri Hero Rating: 90/100

Gryphon

Holden Cross is back. However, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Having come back to atone for the sins of his hand in the Blackstone Legion, Holden has come back from a transformative journey under a new name. With a bardiche at his side and a fury in his eyes, Gryphon now steps onto the battlefield.

Gryphon is still pretty much hated in the For Honor community, however, his speed, healing, bash, and dodge techniques have been tweaked enough to make him easy enough to use without bordering on overpowered.

Gryphon is great at having offensive and defensive capabilities and his damage output is top tier. He utilizes a bardiche which aids him in peeling off in team battles, with his forward dodge heavies and lights. All in all the only thing Gryphon lacks is an unblockable.

Gryphon Hero Rating: 89/100

Tiandi

Tiandi, the loyal protectors of the Wu Lin, live their entire lives in service of their namesake “Heaven and Earth”. The Tiandi pride themselves in their use of the Dao blade, and with their courage and dignity in battle, they become nigh invincible.

Tiandi is an S-Tier hero because of his I frames on his Dragon/Tiger dodges, as well as avoiding a lot of 50/50 mix-ups. If you factor in his blocking and stalling capabilities, with his feet, shield, and health, he becomes a very easy hero to use.

He can pretty much handle any match of any type easily. The only drawback would be the lack of damage with his moves, but definitely more of the stylish S-Tiers.

Tiandi Hero Rating: 88/100

Jiang Jun

Jiang Jun is a utility-blessed hero with multiple avenues of attack and defense at his disposal.He is quite literally one of the best Dominion heroes, due to the critical exposure of his zone attacks. Link that into the heavy unblockable and it’s pretty much curtains for 30-40% of your overall health.

His Sifu Stance is quite helpful as well due to the low cooldown and high mix-up potential.

Jiang Jun Hero Rating: 87/100

A-Tier Heroes

Nobushi

Nobushi is pretty much a clutch character through and through. Her team fight and peeling capabilities make her almost indispensable. Her hidden stance into the undodgeable forward heavy is incredibly powerful and crazy because with the patch she can now catch people off guard, even during a dodge.

She is also a crazy good staller due to the applications of hidden stance.

The only thing is the high-skill curve it takes to master this hero. In addition, she doesn’t have any true anti-ganking abilities.

Nobushi Hero Rating: 86/100

Warden

Warden has a strong 50/50 and his shoulder bash is pretty excellent for opening up to more combos.

That overhead strike, plus the cancellation into a guard break is a lethal combo that leaves opponents staggering and ready for more punishment. His heavy hitboxes are now decently sized, so if you happen to get revenge, you can force a reaction out of your opponents easily.

His zone attack cost a bit too much stamina so his peeling capabilities are hindered. His lights are also not great.

However,f his team capabilities are pretty good.

Warden Hero Rating: 84/100

Berserker

Berserker is a beast if you know how to use him. However if you’re not advanced in assassin-like playstyle stay away from him, his moveset revolves around trades, parries, and dodges. Good unblockable mix-up, faster top-lights, with enhanced dodge moves, make the Berserker lethal in 4v4s due to his ex-turtling capabilities and being troublesome,a great assassin overall.

Not a hero for beginner users at all.

Berserker Hero Rating: 83/100

Kyoshin

Kyoshin is a very strong hero with a lot of tools under his belt. He doesn’t have as much range as others when it comes to his unblockable and his full block is quite annoying when playing against him.

His 50/50, revolving around the bash chain is pretty good, and his undodgeable mix-up gives him a lethal edge over most other heroes. He can also gank like a madman due to his unblockable, which makes it trouble to try and land moves in a team game or a 2v1/1v2.

His feats are a bit reserved due to them all being passive.

Kyoshin Hero Rating: 82/100

Black Prior

Black Prior is a menace on the offensive end, with an incredible unblockable attack, low recoveries, bulwark’s power also makes him incredibly hard to deal with offensively.

To be honest in this position the only Black Prior counter is another Black Prior. Undodgeable, bash, and chain mix-ups are deadly as well. His feats are incredible as well, one of which gives shields to his teammates and takes shields away from enemies.

Black Prior Hero Rating: 80/100

Conqueror

A Conqueror has the ability to reach S-Tier, due to his incredibly beneficial zone attacks. He deals decent damage on a regular run, and his zoning abilities allow for quite fun team-ups if you decide to team up with one or more of them.

His full block and punish, as well as his double bash into a light, makes him incredibly versatile on the defensive and healing end, making him an absolutely annoying opponent. However, Conqueror’s only drawback is his pretty lackluster feats.

Conqueror Hero Rating: 79/100

B-Tier Heroes

Raider

Raider is a B-Tier hero due to his great mid-clear game. He has one of the best lights in the game when it comes to mowing down minions.

Good at team fights.

Decent at ganking, ledging, zoning, and his hyper armor traits. Not much else to say, however, a great beginner hero.

Raider Hero Rating: 78/100

Valkyrie

Valkyrie is an underrated hero. Her opener is great, as well as her fire flask feat. Her full block is incredibly dependable, as well as her quite satisfying Bloodlust feat which allows her to gain more damage after a kill.

If you know how to use her you can feel out multiple clutch wins. Her only drawback is the lack of an updated moveset.

Valkyrie Hero Rating: 78/100

Shaman

Shaman has some super unreactable soft feints. Her fire flask, ax, and bear trap feats are pretty dope get-out-of-dodge tactics that can help in a bind. Her bite move is pretty much a godsend if you can pull it off successfully.

Her biggest drawback is her heavy reliance on team play to be truly at her top effectiveness. She is also slower than the other assassin characters.

Shaman Hero Rating: 76/100

Zhanhu

Pre-buff Zhanhu had some weaknesses, however, that was months ago. His unblockable light chain makes him pretty predictable, but otherwise his side dodge light, heavy, or mix-up is pretty devious if pulled off correctly.

His zone also has a sense of predictability to it, however, his opening bash move creates various openings for opponents to stagger.

Although he is a pretty predictable character under the right circumstances he’s fun to use.

Gladiator

Gladiator is one of the best ganking heroes, he also has I Iframesframes on his sucker punch and haymakers. Gladiator can deal damage easily whenever he wants to, he can chain and flow quite well. Though his reflex guard is a bit tricky so watch out for that.

But if left unchecked the Gladiator can wreak havoc on opponents easily.

C-Tier Heroes

Centurion

Centurion is one of the best team heroes if you know how to gank with him. He also has a decent zone attack.

He is pretty unpredictable especially with his cancellation opportunities and ability to ambush opponents. His peeling isn’t really up to par, however,, he is a solid pick all around regardless.

Centurion Hero Rating: 69/100

Lawbringer

Lawbringer has little to no offense whatsoever.

He is a good hero defensively if you’re able to parry and gank appropriately, as well as his decent stalling tactics.

He’s pretty underrated, but you won’t have as much fun playing him as you would the others.

Lawbringer Hero Rating: 67/100

Jormungandr

Jormungandr has many strengths and a lot of potential to win games for their team. Their feats are one of the main strengths of the hero, his guard break as well as his unblockable are incredibly satisfying to pull off as well.

Once your opponent has no stamina, all it takes is one push (and the Thor-like hammer strike) and most of their health is zilch.

Jormungandr doesn’t fare well in team fights, as well as if you are playing an experienced player, he might become predictable.

Peacekeeper

Peacekeeper has poor defensive options, however she makes up for that with her impeccable offensive capabilities if she is able to sneak a bleed in.

Once she has you bleeding she becomes insanely overpowered, to the point where running would be a good option. Outside of that though, she doesn’t have anything of note that stands out about her, classic assassin hero.

Peacekeeper Hero Rating: 60/100

D-Tier Heroes

Shinobi

Shinobi really only have ranged attacks and guard breaks, which has become incredibly annoying but with his rework, he’s become a pretty lackluster hero with his loss of teamwork capabilities.

Not much to say about him, however, he’s fun to play if you like to challenge yourself.

Shinobi Hero Rating: 57/100

Orochi

Orochi doesn’t offer much when it comes to team fights. He does have a good top-heavy unblockable, but his Riptide and Storm Rush are quite predictable.

His kick-mix-up isn’t too fun either.

Orochi Hero Rating: 55/100

Highlander

Highlander has pretty wishy-washy lights. His hyper armor is creative and crazy due to his Celtic Curse.

However, he has a very predictable moveset which renders him quite vulnerable against even slightly better heroes.

Highlander Hero Rating: 53/100

F-Tier Heroes

Aramusha

Aramusha’s all guard stance is much better than the previous patch, however, he has extremely weak openers. His ring the bell bash is pretty on point and if he or his teammates or going for a ganking situation.

However, Aramusha’s lack of opening potential renders him useless against a roll, dodge, or parry. He becomes more of a burden than an asset due to his incredible lack of defense.

Aramusha Hero Rating: 50/100

Nuxia

A very niche hero, the Nuxia is prime in certain situations, such as traps which are the main arsenal of the Wu Lin’s assassin.

Outside of that, however, there isn’t much upside to this character competitively. Her hook swords are dope though.

Nuxia Hero Rating: 48/100

Shaolin

Shaolin is a fun hero, but not too much of a good one. He doesn’t have a good opener and if you dodge early, he’s pretty much useless. His team fighting capabilities are also not too good.

He only really has one good feat in Key Trap, however his others fall very short.

Shaolin Hero Rating: 46/100

5. Berserker (OP Evasive/Revenge Moveset)

Dodge, hit, dodge, hit, victory!

Berserker is the first assassin-build hero for the Viking Faction, they are always looking for new and inventive way to take down their foes, even if it's to swing down low and evade for a precise and lethal blow, or rush in with the gods at your back and Loki whispering in the ears of your enemies.

Berserker is a hero that takes some getting used to, but once mastered is an absolute menace on the battlefield. From their incredible evasive and hyper-aggressive moveset, they can be a tricky player to gang upon.

Add in their Revenge capabilities and they become an unstoppable, creatively overbearing gameplay that makes it a terror against multiple enemies, and great for team stalling tactics. Berserker may be a bit of a learning curve, but a seasoned main can easily anti-gank and hack away at that health till there’s nothing left.

4. Tiandi (Most OP For Stalling)

Tiandi, the guardians of the Wu Lin, a splintered pack of China, having decided to move west, seeking a various assortment of things, for the Tiandi, it must be to protect. They are the angels that guide their warriors into battle, the vanguards who dance upon the graves of their enemies, with their Dao blade primed for the strike, they will fearlessly face any enemy.

Now… Tiandi, haha. Whew, this guy is the worst enemy to face as a group. Tiandi’s stalling tactics are almost unparalleled. As you can see from the video above, his impeccable dodge span, to his Dragon Kick make it almost impossible to gank him.

He comes ready for anything and his Revenge capabilities are through the roof. Fast overhead lights and dodge cancel into crazier combos are what makes Tiandi absolutely formidable and incredibly annoying for your enemies.

Why Tiandi Is Anti Gank:

His move set is capable of dodging and attacking at the same time
Super quick lights that deal consistent damage
High nuisance and great feats which add to HP boosts.

3. Conqueror Hero name (Most OP For Blocking)

Forget the dodge, we SHIELD!

The Conqueror comes from harsh backgrounds, usually ex-convicts and forced conscripts who have risen in the ranks to earn themselves a spot of glory within the Knight Faction. If you’re able to survive the sword fodder that you start out as you will become a warrior that not even the deepest of darkness wouldn’t fear. Conquerors are fearless and dominating shields for the Knights.

The Conqueror would honestly be top two if it wasn’t for the sheer one-man army that exists within the heroes after him. Despite that, Conqueror is a beast. He is a defense god able to block against any mix-ups or ganking opportunities. The great thing about Conqueror is that he has a survivalist moveset, able to fully block, superior block, dodge block, you name it.

Conqueror has little to no great feats which is probably the only handicap he has as an anti-gank machine. As opposed to Tiandi and Berserker, Conqueror doesn’t have to rely on feats, however, to truly be able to shine in this aspect, and that’s what puts him in the number three spot for us.

Why Conqueror Is Anti Gank:

Top Tier defense capabilities him
Incredible superior block and parry opportunities
No need to rely on feats to off-balance a 2v1/4v1

2. Jiang Jun (Most OP For Feats and Range)

This belly isn't for show!

A Jiang Jun was usually at the pinnacle of Wu Lin society, a general amongst an army of monstrous warriors, all jaded with different pasts. With a stratagem for every fight, the Jiang Jun uses a collection of brain and brawn, not only to protect his people and lead them to victory but also to show his enemies he is none to be trifled with on his own.

Jiang Jun is pretty much a one-man army all on his own, a walking juggernaut with a wide range for his guandao. He is a tanky character with very tricky target-swapping lights. This plus his hefty dodge-attack capabilities, coupled with the fact that he is Revenge-favored, similar to the Berserker of the Vikings.

Jiang Jun’s feats are part of what makes them so formidable, with his Tier 3 feats being all healing abilities either for him and his allies. With Phalanx used in Tier 4 plus the benefit of his Sifu Pose, which in and of itself is anti-gank and grants stamina, Jiang Jun is a hellish force to be reckoned with, no matter what playing field you find him on. Good luck with those 4v1s.

Why Jiang Jun Is Anti Gank:

Tier 1,3, and 4 Feats make him a walking health potion.
Jiang Jun has a wide range with the use of his Guan Dao.
His dodge-attacks and Revenge attacks are blessings.

1. Black Prior (Most OP For Everything, he’s owns this game style)

FLIP KING!

United under the leadership of Vortiger, the Black Priors, once members of Apollyon’s Blackstone Legion, are now free to make their own choices, going against the will of an unworthy knight, as Apollyon was.

Black Prior is the King of Anti-Gankland, and I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s start with the fact that Black Prior’s All Guard, Static Guard, Revenge buildup, and Bulwark Counter make him nigh ungankable. His light cancels are also quick enough for him to pull nasty tide-changing counters off a whim if countered right.

The Black Prior can create space for himself from these simple counters, and with their succession, he’s a barrel roll away from getting out of dodge and focusing on his next opponent. With All Guard alone Black Prior can take on multiple heroes on timing and precision. His unblockable and undodgeable are plentiful in their ability to take away health.

His feat as well, my lord. His Tier 2 Feats alone in Healing Ward and Doom Banner can simultaneously slowly regenerate health while lowering enemy attack power. Umbral Shelter allows you to coat yourself in a nice dark and dense defensive passive. Punch Through allows blocking enemies to still feel the full force of your blows and Regenerate allows you to passively regain health whilst out of combat. The Black Prior is a monster all around.

Why Black Prior Is Anti Gank

All Feats benefit toward Anti-ganking measures.
Full Defensive and Counter-based movesets.
Beautiful, tide-changing revenge advantages.

4#. Activating your Champion Status

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

First, you should activate your champion status. Activating your champion status every three days grants you an XP boost for yourself and your teammates, as well as adding on more loot, Steel, and salvage to dismantle gear. 2000 Steel is all it costs to spend every three days. Playing normally as most For Honor grinders do makes 2000 little to nothing at all for a boost of that magnitude.

How It Works

Open the "Social" tab.
Select "Profile".
The "Champion Status" activation button will be in green.

+25% XP boost for self
+10% XP boost for others

3#. XP Boosts

Boost Your Chances!

XP Boosts are a crucial aspect of your grind in For Honor. It helps give Salvage more use instead of the simple upgrading of gear, if you have enough you can grant yourself a 250 XP bonus automatically for any of your chosen characters. The cost of it does go up every time you utilize it and the costs reset each day.

It might be smart to use it three times every day. However, this is hard to do when you are starting out so this is more for mid-level players.

How It Works

The button is prompted before matches.

250 for any of your chosen characters, an additional tool for Salvage.

2#. Playing Dominion and Breach Exclusively

Golden Game Modes!

Game modes are pretty much the easiest and most continuous way to gain XP fast, especially Dominion and Breach. You’ll get a bonus XP based on your game mode, how well you did, the time spent in the match, strategic points on the war map, and how much you accomplished within those parameters.

Player matches are longer but hold more XP, however playing against bots gets much harder as your reputation begins to rise, playing against bots of Level 3 holds the same amount of weight as player matches.

Get 'em done soldier!

Orders are the number one way to get chunks of XP throughout your play experience. By simply executing and completing orders whether daily or contract will give you plentiful amounts of XP.

Getting massive amounts of XP for playing certain game modes, getting certain amounts of kills, or playing against a certain faction, or reviving allies. Daily orders are the best way to get Steel, but Contract or Main orders are the best ways to get XP.

We would mention doing the Campaign but that would entail you breaking every single pot in the game for a 4 thousand Steel. It’s something you could do, but we’re here for the efficient ways, yeah?

Great.

The Warrior Trials are pretty much the same as the Apprentice Trials in terms of availability. However, the reason we put it at the last tier is that it’s a step up in terms of difficulty for less of a payout, giving 500 Steel less than the Apprentice Trials. Despite that, it is still a great way to easily nab up some Steel.

The easiest way by far.

It’s pretty much a cop-out and takes little to no time at all. Plus, a way better payout than the Warrior Trials for an easier go of it.

The best way!

Sounds simple right? Well, it’s also the most effective. In 1v1s, Duels, and Brawls, you can gain from 25 to 50 Steel per game. In addition, Dominion and Breach can range from 50-150 Steel depending on how good you do, and considering how much of a For Honor fanatic we all are, I know the pile-up of those will look magnificent after the end of a day’s gaming.

It is well known that Brawls are the fastest way to get Steel in For Honor, proven. Just some time and effort and you’ll see the Steel start to stack up in no time.

Have fun with the process!

Even though it may make you wanna toss your console out the window at times, the payoff is way greater than you’d imagine.

For Honor has four distinct factions, all well-dressed and outfitted with the biggest and baddest heroes the game has to offer. In this dive, we’re going to list out all the highlights of all four factions and let you, the gamers, take your pick! Enjoy!

Knights Faction

"We are the guardians of our people. We stand strong against all invaders."

Stated to be the constructors of many, if not all, of the ancient ruins themselves, the Knights have been scattered across the world for ages. However, under the banner of the Iron Legion, these far and few between have been able to band together. Of course, there are others who decide against the will of the Iron Legion, those knights of disorder and chaos.

The notable legions to have shown up in addition to the Iron Legion are Daubeny’s Militia, the Regal and Royal Regions, as well as the titular villainous sub-faction, the Blackstone Legion.

Choose the Knights Faction if:

You like balance and security. No wild card situations in the Knights Faction.
Due to them having the highest hero count of all four factions, they can control most of the player population.
Most classes under this faction have a very nice balance between defensive efficiency and impressive combat maneuvers.

Samurai Faction

"Our hearts are strong, our devotion: absolute, and our skill is beyond question. We will be remembered."

After having been thrown from their ancestral homes and having to rebuild their forces bit by bit, the Samurai are still incredibly outnumbered compared to the other three factions, new and highly unwelcome neighbors. Due to this, the Samurai have adopted a more careful strategy towards victory, through skill, cunning, and undying loyalty to each other, giving their people a chance to thrive.

The most notable houses amongst the Samurai are the warring clans, such as Ranja, Dokuja, Seijuro, and Kizan’s Houses. There is also the Imperial House, and finally the main Samurai Squad, The Chosen, or Ayu’s House.

Welcome to sword fighting games. This one will be pretty similar to the last article and will involve plenty of carnage, bravery, or cowardice, “dodge this you bastard” and plenty of other memes which will make you giggle.

I’ll include games with varying popularity, gameplay, and graphics - I will also mention games that are a bit underrated in my opinion and story-focused singleplayer games. Anyways, let’s get to it:

15. MORDHAU

Dodge this, you bastard! - I think I have even repeated this stupid sentence in my previous article, but it never gets old. Especially when the character saying it gets his head chopped off. Welcome to Mordhau, a game where you can brutally kill your opponents by chopping off their limbs, heads, crushing their heads, shooting them with bows, trampling them with horses, kick them off edges - this game is sickening. I love it!

Did you know that you could cut somebody’s arm off and watch them still run around? Yes, and they can still use those couple of seconds to kill you. That’s how ridiculous this game is. Try it out, it’s a lovely gorefest!

14. FOR HONOR

What honor is there exactly when you’re facing off 2 opponents repeatedly hitting you with warhammers and katanas? Anyways, this game is pretty cool in terms of class selection and complex combat system - you’ll find it rewarding the more you polish your skills in this game!

The game might seem a tad difficult for newcomers, matter of fact, you can expect to be stomped - but that’s the beauty of For Honor, its steep learning curve will keep you in touch with this game for days to come. Try it out!

13. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

This is a perfect game if you want to engage in large-scale battles in which you’ll fight for fortresses, collect loot and enhance your army into a stronger and bigger one as hours stack in.

The quality of your army matters for future conquests of lands, thus collecting the in-game currency called Influence is also important for boosting your army’s morale and keeping it cohesive throughout your journey. It allows you to hire more people and generally do more stuff. The game is grindy, but in a good way - you’ll love it and have fun!

12. Kingdom Come: Deliverance

What’s there to say about this lovely piece of cake? Plenty! You can buy ingredients from an alchemist and craft poisons, put them in stews of unsuspecting foes and watch them fall to the ground. Or you could do a more honorable thing and duel them - it’s up to you!

You can also engage in quests and picklock stuff for treasures. It’s like Skyrim, but it’s not Skyrim. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions when you try out this game!

11. Blade and Sorcery

Do you want to cut someone’s head off in VR? Great, this game will surely deliver the content that you need - unless you’re too poor to afford a VR headset(I know that feel, bro).

In this game you’ll be either slashing your foes to bits, shooting them with bows, or using sorcery to burn them alive, shock them or completely dismember them - perfect game if you’re a psychopath!

10. GORN

My first reaction to this game was - what in the flying **** did I just see? You’ll be playing as a gladiator killing other people who are overly muscular and aggressive. They walk in a funny way, so make sure to not die of laughter!

You will also have access to multiple weapons to slaughter your enemies with. The game has plenty of gore and generally ridiculous gameplay, so if you’re rich enough to own a VR, try it out!

9. Hellish Quart

I’ve mentioned this game somewhere in one of my other articles, but it deserves a second mention - this game will let you participate in realistic duels where you can either severely hurt yourself or your opponents - cutting somebody’s head off, arms, or just simply stabbing someone to death or till they yield. Fun game with intense gameplay - awesome for a short-term dose of fun!

8. Warhammer: Vermintide 2

The only co-op game that I like is Left 4 Dead, but this game completely blew my mind away with its awesome graphics, combat, and storyline. I never felt so much satisfaction from gruesomely dismembering my opponents and bathing in their blood.

You’ll be able to play as one out of 4 classes, each class has its specializations that you can choose. Opponents will either come in large swarms and be easier to kill or in smaller numbers but way tougher to kill.

7. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

This video will show you perfectly what it does to the mental health of fellow gamers. Now you might say, why would I destroy my keyboard playing this game, when I can play a different fu-ing game? Well…

This game is a lot like Dark Souls, you’ll be playing against OP bosses, fail multiple times, but feel an enormous dopamine rush each time you succeed. Graphics are gorgeous and the combat system is hard as hell to master, but I can assure you that you’ll feel like you’ve accomplished something for finishing this game. You’ll earn the title of a pRo GaMeR!

6. Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™

A game where you can shame somebody to the point where they betray you, where you can either treat your foes with mercy or annihilation - a game where you will slaughter plenty of orcs with hideous faces and bad tempers!

Go on a journey where you’ll encounter special mobs, maybe slaughter them in a gruesome fashion, take over forts, recruit cool orcs or be betrayed by uncool orcs, collect loot and spend millions of hours in this game!

5. Monster Hunter: World

What do you do in this game? You go on a journey where you’ll either go fishing or collect monster tracks where they’ll lead you to an epic boss fight - afterward you can carve out their heart and use it to improve your gear.

Slaughter the monsters you encounter with a long list of weapons in this gorgeous and diverse world of many threats and kinder surprise eggs.

4. Nioh 2

If you want to continue playing a game that will pretty much never end, then Nioh 2 is for you - it provides endless gameplay till you’re sick and bored of it. Besides the challenging and complex combat system and general difficulty of the game, you’ll fall in love with the graphics and the storyline!

Some people might complain about controls in this game, but you’ll easily adapt to them after a couple of hours of gameplay. You can also come up with your builds, so you don’t get bored too fast. IMO, the developers put their heart into this game and delivered a sweet cake!

3. CODE VEIN

A weeb Dark Souls game. Nuff Said… Just kidding, this game lets you design your character in many ways, so you can always feel unique. Yay. In terms of weapons and combat, you can equip yourself with massive 2-handed swords that you’ll wield like it’s nothing, or you could just use magic.

The game in terms of progress is pretty linear and simple, you’ll have to use your currency properly to keep up with upcoming foes and bosses, graphics also seem pretty and slightly cartoonish, which in my opinion, is a nice thing in terms of being unique. Try it out, you might fall in love with this weeb-y game!

2. DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED

This is where tears begin. This is where you’ll die at least 30 times before defeating a boss. You need 2 things in this game - patience, and determination, this game also does a great job at creating a sense of progress as you continue on your journey.

The unremastered version had problems with bugs and FPS, but this cupcake does a great job at fixing those issues and offering gorgeous graphics in this dark fantasy world. Also, don’t listen to the people saying that it’s too hard - you’ll love this game anyways!

1. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

An intense, action-packed, gore-filled video game where you’ll be playing as a badass cyborg called Raiden. You’ll be able to slice your foes in whichever direction you want them to be sliced in, but you could also take a more stealthy approach towards your enemies.

What I liked the most about this game are the bosses and their personalities - one of my favorites was the politician Armstrong - he gave out a speech that was the baddest thing I’ve ever heard about America which holds true to this day!

With an epic storyline and intense gameplay at all times, there’s no other game that deserves the first spot in my opinion. Even though the game was released back in 2013, you will still find this game to be incredible. Hands-down, a masterpiece of the previous decade!
