FF14 Healer Tier List [FF14 Best And Worst Healer Jobs Revealed]

Healing in FF14 can be a jarring experience for new players. If you’re coming from another MMO, you might be under the impression that you can just stand around until your teammates need support.

But that definitely isn’t what healing is like in FF14.

Between keeping your teammates alive, adjusting to boss mechanics, and contributing DPS, you have a ton of responsibility when playing a healer.

And this is to say nothing of what you’ll be expected to do when mistakes happen. (Because they will happen, and they’ll be your responsibility to fix).

As you can imagine, players expect a lot from healers in FF14. But if you’re up to the challenge, a little research can go a long way toward helping you succeed.

So we’ve taken the time to compile a healer tier list so you can better understand what each job offers and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

Here’s a look at our tier list at a glance:

S Tier: This job has the best tools for recovering health, supporting the group’s DPS, adjusting for boss mechanics, and mitigating against party mistakes.

Astrologian: 93.4/100

A Tier: This job has powerful tools for recovery, DPS, and movement but can really struggle if too many things go wrong.

Scholar: 84.5/100

B Tier: This job has great options to support the group, but they’re just not as good when compared to the competition.

Sage: 71.5/100

C Tier: This job is viable for all content but has major weaknesses that can make endgame content harder than it needs to be.

White Mage: 60.5/100

1. Astrologian (S Tier)

Success is written in the Stars.

Introduced in Heavensward, Astrologian has seen many evolutions over the years. The defining feature of this job is probably the card system, which revolves around drawing from a deck of cards and buffing a single player’s DPS. This happens many times over the course of a fight and definitely adds up - especially in the hands of a skilled player.

As pure healers, Astrologians specialize in burst healing and recovery. While the card system is something of a mess, the job’s tools for handling incoming damage and improving defense are impressive. In addition to being able to buff a group’s DPS, their game-changing heals and fantastic mana regen make for a job that has everything you need to recover from a sticky situation.

What exactly makes Astrologian shine?

Macrocosmos restores 50% of incoming damage for the entire party, trivializing a number of challenging mechanics
Many of the Astrologian heals also shield their targets from additional harm, a talent typically reserved for only barrier healers
Astrologians buff party DPS through their cards and their groupwide buff, Divination
Astrodyne is a personal buff that has many effects, but most importantly, it gives Astrologians another tool to restore mana
Lightspeed is a versatile buff that significantly reduces casting time for both offensive and defensive abilities

2. Scholar (A Tier)

Don't be fooled. The fairy is your real healer.

Scholars depend on a combination of intricate battle strategems and their fairy pet in order to keep their teammates safe from harm. These healers tend to require a lot of practice to get the most out of them. But once done, players will find themselves in the driver's seat of one of the strongest and most flexible healing jobs in the game.

Scholars are powerful barrier healers, specializing in stabilizing health rather than restoring it. The biggest challenge with the kit is the design of one of its core features, Aetherflow. When used, Aetherflow gives Scholars three charges they can use for healing or damage.

Healing abilities barred behind this resource are some of the best in the Scholar’s kit. Ideally, you’ll want to use this resource for damage whenever possible. Most of the time, you can, since you never want to overcap this resource.

But it still means that pushing DPS as a Scholar can be riskier than it is for healers who don’t have to choose.

Despite these struggles, Scholar is still an A Tier healer, and here’s why:

Expedient increases group mitigation and movement speed, making it a fantastic and versatile tool for accommodating mechanics
Scholars have access to the strongest shield spell in the game
Scholars can heal over larger distances thanks to their fairy pet
Scholars can increase group critical chance on a single target using their debuff, Chain Stratagem
Ruin 2 is an instant cast attack that makes it much easier for Scholars to maintain DPS while moving

3. Sage (B Tier)

The powerhouse healer with all those funny ability names.

Sage is the newest healer introduced to FF14, and as a barrier healer, similar to Scholar.They use special weapons called nouliths in order to channel energy for their magic.

While Sage is unable to buff group DPS, it does boast the highest personal DPS out of all the healers. In addition, most of the Sage’s heals cast instantly, making it easier for them to maintain DPS while healing effectively.

Similar to Scholars, Sages begin to struggle once their bag of tricks has been depleted. What’s worse is that Sages have the weakest basic heals, making it particularly challenging for them to recover from bad mistakes.

Despite this, Sages still make fantastic healers, and here’s why:

Kardia is a unique Sage buff that will continue to heal its target so long as the Sage maintains DPS
Eukrasia augments the Sage’s basic heals, causing them to shield their targets and cast instantly
Icarus allows the Sage to fly to another teammate, making movement slightly easier
Sages can buff healing potency, recovery, or defense, allowing the Sage to boost the effectiveness of its healing
Sages are great for healing new tanks since their abilities can compensate for most mistakes

4. White Mage (C Tier)

The Final Fantasy healer that started it all.

White Mages are the classic healers in the Final Fantasy franchise, and in FF14, they effortlessly defend this title by boasting the widest variety of burst healing in the game.

White Mages are powerful healers, but they struggle to compete in raid settings due to being unable to buff party DPS and having the least amount of instant healing options in FF14.

The saving grace has always been their ability to fall back on the strongest basic heals in the game, so long as they have mana. Unfortunately, their mana economy in Endwalker is the worst it’s been in a long time. So while they can still pull a group out of the fire with powerful heals, they begin to struggle much faster than they did in previous expansions.

White Mages are still fantastic healers and perfectly viable for all content. Consider these reasons for picking up White Mage if you’re interested in healing:

White Mage is the easiest job to pick up and learn
It can be easier to recover from mistakes since your basic heals are extremely effective
White Mages are great in dungeons since their AoE spell, Holy, can stun targets
Presence of Mind is a great buff for offense and defense since it causes the White Mage to cast much faster
Benediction is one of White Mage’s signature abilities, allowing them to instantly heal a single party member to full

Long Live the Healer Support Role!

Hello there! This is Oracle here. We are hoping to create a Justice League Medical Unit that can both heal civilians following a disaster and our Leaguers after a dangerous mission. We are accepting new applicants who want to be a part of this new team. If you have one of the following powers, please consider applying. Oracle out.

When we decide our powers, there is a secondary role (other than DPS) that we can adopt to serve as another purpose on our teams. My personal favorite is the Healer role. I have always loved the idea of being in a support role. In team-based battles, I do not need to be on the frontlines because staying back to heal your team is important too.

For those of you who are considering going for a Healer role, do not worry because I am going to help you see some of the various benefits to jump on the Healing wagon. Be your team’s medic with one of these amazing power options.

5. Sorcery

Ask your teammates to say the magic word before you heal them.

For those interested in our newly formed healing unit, please consider talking with magical members Zatanna and Raven. These two experts at the mystical arts are not only amazing attackers, but they are also amazing at backup, healing their teammates to keep enduring through hard battles.

Sorcerers in the DC Universe are some of the most powerful heroes to walk the face of the Earth. Zatanna, Raven, and John Constantine are powerhouses that should not be taken lightly. Your sorcery heroes are decent healers with some great options to heal themselves and others.

Your master of magic will be able to summon one of three various helpers, but the best option for a healer will be either a Fury or Watcher. While they may decrease your passive power regeneration, they also have a plethora of benefits. The Watcher can heal you while you focus on healing others whereas the Fury can be your protector to fight against those who get too close.

The mystical Circle of Protection creates a beautiful glowing pattern on that ground that gradually regenerates health for your allies standing within. A good protective attack with a low power cost is Soul Bolt. While in the Healer role, it may decrease damage, but it does heal nearby allies.

4. Celestial

Meet the Celestial hero, your new guardian angel.

With the divine healing power of the Celestial hero, we can form more heroes like Dr. Fate. The shining light of Celestial powers will protect and heal any ally within range. Watch out Lords of Order because our new exobyte heroes may not need your help anymore to establish peace.

Celestial is undoubtedly one of the most aesthetically pleasing powers of the entire game. It’s too bad that isn’t the only requirement for success, but that doesn’t mean that it is not still a really good Healer.

The move Renew quickly heals you and your most injured teammate while the move Blessing creates a shield for you and three nearby enemies. This combo is really great for any Alert, but it is not ideal for raids as it doesn’t provide much help for your entire team.

Then, there are other moves like Virtuous Light and Cursed Idol that create glyphs for people to heal when they are nearby. The catch is that your allies need to stand close to the small glyph, so hopefully, your entire team is close to each other.

The most powerful healing power is Guardian’s Light that will heal your entire team, but those who have less than half of their health will be healed more quickly. This is the best move of the Celestial powerset, but it is vulnerable to be interrupted.

The less popular part of the Celestial moveset is that it relies on combos to deliver any significant damage or healing. There are various moves on their own without combos that can provide decent healing, but it does not give the full scope of the healing potential. While it may require some mastery, Celestial is a really good option for someone willing to devote the time to become a master healer.

3. Nature

Bet you never imagined that that a Wolf would heal you! Neither did we...

The League needs more Nature-powered heroes. We are thankful to have Swamp Thing, but he is not the only one who can protect the Green. With a few more Nature heroes, we can have a force that can create medicines and use natural healing methods.

Nature is your unlikely hero for healing your team, and while your nature hero may lack any good full party heal, there are still some great healing options to spare. Nature is probably best known for its animal transformations. Did you know that each transformation has a certain buff that it provides? The Insectoid Form improves the healing power of your build.

When you are in the insectoid form, you can further improve the healing potential. One of the greatest moves is Cross Pollination. It heals each member of your team within range, increasing in power for each person.

That move, along with a few others, releases Pheromones. These Pheromones have various power interactions which can further heal your team over time. The move Blossom then is able to restore additional health to those who have Pheromones. Use these and other moves for a unique spin on healing.

2. Electricity

Make way for an amazing battle healer! It's electrifying!

Many people are shocked to find out that electricity is a power that generates healing in others. With the proper training, our electrifying new recruits will be a great well-rounded option for a battle-healer to be in either the frontlines or the back aiding the team.

As unpredictable as it may be that Electricity has a healer role, it is actually an amazing option. Electricity has a lot of potential for both damage and healing. This makes it a well-rounded option for people who do not want to stay out of battle as much as other healers.

Electric heroes have good attacks which will stop opponents in their tracks, but there is still a great opportunity for some shocking healing moves. The supercharge Group Transducer protects you and your allies from incoming damage in electrically charged bubbles while simultaneously healing you over time. There is the cost of power consumption, but it is definitely worth it for the benefit that it provides.

The best power for healing with Electricity though is Galvanize. This is perfect for raids because, with each ally that is healed, the strength of the healing is increased. When you and your 7 teammates are being healed, it will do more than if it is just a team of 2.

1. Water

Have you ever wanted to be a Waterbender? Oh wait... wrong universe

We need not search any farther than heroes like Mera who have the skill of using water magic to heal and strengthen her allies. But when she is off ruling Atlantis with Aquaman, we need to have others who can take charge with using the healing properties of Water on our team.

Almost anyone will agree that water is the most OP healing build. There are a lot of features that lead this power to reign at the number one spot. If you thought Electricity’s Group Transducer was cool, then you will love the move Tempest Guard which shields your entire team. But, it’s not even a supercharge meaning you can reuse the power as much as you want every 18 seconds, provided you have enough power.

Don’t let the 18-second cooldown worry you though because the move Riptide is a low power consumption move that removes the cooldown from the most recent Water power that you used. This means that when your shield breaks, you can reform the shield almost immediately.

That only scratches the surface because water has so many moves to pick from to heal your team, including the popular move Tranquil Pool. This move creates a huge swirling vortex of water that heals your teammates standing within it over time. Having been healed by this move on a variety of occasions, I will personally tell you how useful this move is.

While that may not be the only healing move, there also exist more support or buff moves that will lead your team to be worshipping the ground you surf on. The move High Tide increases the power of some of your Water moves and could make additional effects. For example, the quick heal move Blessing of the Deep, which heals you and your team, will also be able to heal over time with the High Tide effect.

While water may not be the most offensive of powers, it triumphs over any other type of healing with various healing, buff, and support moves to make this the healing master. Any Water hero would be absolutely perfect to be on a Justice League healing unit.

Teamwork requires finding the strengths of your powers to provide a well-oiled machine. The best cooperative work is not necessarily a team of tanks, but instead, have a well-balanced team where everyone has different jobs to reach your goal.

Healers are essential to the team function. Without them, the team will die a lot more often and have greater difficulty completing missions. Nurture your job as a support role because it is extremely valuable. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

ESO is without a doubt a unique MMORPG. It has its way of building characters that can attack, heal or tank. Here you can choose whichever class you want that can become whatever role you enjoy. In short, everyone can be a healer, but some classes can heal better than others.

First, we need to go through the basics of healing. There are a few ways a healer can heal and not every class can cover all the healing skills.

Here is the list of healing types:

HOT ( Healing over time) – This type of skill heal slowly over time in a large area. You heal multiple targets at once.
Single target heals – You heal one specific target, preferably the one with the lowest health.
Single target/AOE burst heals – It heals a significant amount of health in a short period. Best to use when team energy is really low and you don’t have another choice. This type of healing uses more Magicka, so you gotta be smart when using it.
Smart/Intelligent healing – Most healing in the game is like this. It targets an ally with the lowest health and heals them automatically. So you don’t need to pick who to heal.

As a healer, you need to buff and debuff, not just heal. So, whichever class you pick, some skills are important to have for buffing your allies and debuff your enemies.

These are some of the biggest tools in your healing toolkit:

Combat Prayer ( Restoration staff skill line ) – It heals, and also increases damage done as well as physical and spell resistance.
Elemental Drain ( Destruction Staff skill line ) – Reducing spell resistance for enemies and steals Magicka while you do damage.
Aggressive Horn ( PVP skill line ) – Increases Magicka and Stamina of party members, and critical damage done.

3. Necromancer

For the third place, we got the Necromancer class. Although not the amazing healer like the classes that are at first and second place, Necromancers are pretty effective and fun to play with.

With Unnerving Boneyard from Graveyard skill line, you can reduce spell and physical resistance of your enemies. And if you consume a corpse, you deal 50 % more damage. Any other player can activate the Graverobber synergy that deals frost damage to your enemies and heals you.

Reanimate is a great Ultimate that can resurrect up to three allies at the target location, it comes in handy for turning the tables.

The Render Flash is a great way to go if you need to heal yourself or your ally fast. But beware, some debuffs will apply to you. Also, morph of this ability can heal another target if you consume a corpse.

Renewing Undead can heal your allies over time and remove up to three negative effects. Braided Thether and Intensive Mendor both heal you and your party. Combine these skills with every passive from Living Dead skills, and you will have a blast when healing as a Necromancer.

2. Templar

Templar healer is great for beginners because of his auto-target heals. You don’t have to watch over your party, just use your healing skills and it will help the players in need automatically.

They have an entire skill line dedicated to healing and passives which grant them increased healing power. Rushed Ceremony is a powerful single-target burst heal. With morph that can heal one more character.

With Healing Ritual you have a powerful AOE burst heal. The downside of this skill is its cost. Cleansing Ritual is an AOE HOT skill that can cleanse allies of negative effects if they activate the skills synergy. Without buffs for his team, Templar is exclusively a healer.

You can keep Magicka and Stamina resources on your team with Spear Shards and Restoring Aura. And with Repentance you restore Health and Stamina to yourself for each corpse nearby, in some way, you got infinite Stamina regeneration.

And the winner on our list, nature-based class, The Warden. The only downside in Healer Warden's abilities is that their class burst heal relies more on positional awareness. So they are less user-friendly. But that doesn’t mean much when you see the pure awesomeness that Warden brings to the table. They heal, provide a shield to the party, and gives them great buffs.

They have more tools in their healing toolkit that provides more sustainable heal over time, which costs less. Although they don't heal like the Templar, overall with their skills they can keep their party alive for a longer time.

Fungal Growth is an AOE burst heal, if you morph it to Enchanted Growth, it gives your allies Minor Intellect and Minor Endurance. Healing Seed is another burst heal that grants synergy to one ally. Living Vines are a single-target HOT and Lotus Flower can heal nearby allies when you deal damage.

When it comes to debuffs and buffs, Impaling Shards can freeze your enemies and reduce their speed movement. Frost Cloak can increase Physical and Spell resistance for you and your party. And a great passive called Maturation can increase your party’s health when you heal.

Warden has no skill to keep resources for its team. But he can adapt and function in different situations, and with diverse skill tree and group buffs, the first place is the only appropriate place to put him.

Play Magicka Warden If:

You like to combine diverse playing styles.
