10. Garm

The boss battle with Garm isn't mechanically unfair, but overall, it's a test of stamina. Garm fights Kratos off by using his entire body and his chains. As Kratos and Atreus pursue the dog through Hel, they engage in one of the game's longer boss battles.

In fact, the boss battle drags on for so long that Kratos and Atreus develop independent strategies for taking out the monster. It's telling that, in the end, Garm wasn't even killed; instead, his soul was fused with Fenrir's to bring back the pair's beloved wolf.

9.Alva

The first boss of Alfheim has an unsettling Nordic interpretation of elves. Alva is a tricky character who uses her speed in the battle to dish out some severe damage before immediately darting back out of range. Not only that, she has the ability to heal herself, which potentially renders any damage the player has dealt moot.

The trick here is to break her double-blue circle attacks when they pop up. When done consistently, the fight gets a lot more reasonable, although still enough of a challenge on the hardest difficulty. Alva makes a nice welcome of what to expect in God of War Ragnarok.

8. Nidhogg

The Nidhogg is one of the most recognizable Norse monsters, and this time, Kratos has Freya on his side to help him defeat it. Its enormous health pool is appropriate for a monster appointed to guard the nine realms' roots. Additionally, it has sizable AoE attacks that make players who are greedy regret joining.

You will need to be patient to figure out how to defeat Nidhogg. Players can ask Freya for advice on when to launch an attack. Rushing results only in a damage trade that Nidhogg will unavoidably win. The pace of the battle is deliberately set to favor a cool-headed player.

7. Hrist and Mist

The last fight before Ragnarok, Hrist and Mist reminds players why the Valkyries were such a pain in the previous game. Not only that, there are two of them now, and both are dead set on stopping Kratos from fulfilling the prophecy. Even when they are first beaten, they will enter a second phase, reinvigorated with new life and strength.

The boss fight challenges the player’s spatial awareness, and generous use of the shield is needed because of flanking attacks. The backdrop of this fight being the vastness of space also makes for an incredible set piece.

6. The Berserker King

The player fights twelve Berserkers in place of the Valkyries, and they present a different level of difficulty from the Valkyries. Their swings are powerful, but they are so wide that Kratos could still be caught off guard if he attempts a poor dodge. Additionally, his jumping attack penalizes slow reactions.

The Berserker King poses a threat because of the way he juggles his blows, frequently converting one attack pattern into another. They can all be avoided, but since each mix-up covers the greatest amount of ground, it is important to know where to avoid them. Despite not being as punishing as the Valkyries, players may still wonder if it's worthwhile to take on the Berserkers given their formidable difficulty.

5. The Hateful

The Hateful, despite being referred to as a "mini-boss," ends up being one of the game's most punishing bosses—even more so than the actual gods. Many characters are underleveled and unprepared for such a difficult battle because it occurs so early in the game's narrative.

Some of their attacks are practically unblockable, and because they move so quickly, dodging at the wrong time could result in the loss of the match. The Hateful succeeds in turning the players into "The Hateful" themselves by including the one-hit kill component of their powerful attacks.

4. The Valkyrie Queen

If Kratos isn't continuously dying to Valkyries in God of War's Norse era, players will be reminded of the endless hours they spent fighting Sigrun by the game's new Valkyrie Queen Gna. But this time, Gna is much more ruthless and has a lot more new tactics than Sigrun did.

She also has an absurd amount of health, fitting her status as the true post-game boss, in addition to these new, devastating attacks. Freya and Kratos are no match for her, and the player will undoubtedly lose to her more frequently than they would like to admit.

3. Heimdall

The Heimdall from God of War Ragnarok is smarmy and blatantly annoying; he can irritate Thor just as much as he irritates Kratos. The player is made more angry by the fact that the first battle with him is hopeless. Kratos has faced his fair share of obnoxious opponents, but Heimdall is undoubtedly one of the worst. Kratos had to go out of his way to locate a unique spear that was effective against him.

Even then, the boss battle is reminiscent of fights with Baldur and Hermes, but this time, Kratos is limited to using a spear, which can be difficult for players who prefer axes or blades. The best fight in the game is against Heimdall, but that doesn't make it any simpler.

2. Thor

Thor was the stinger in the previous game and is the first Aesir that Kratos encounters. The outcome of his fight with versus Baldur's was eagerly anticipated by the crowd. Many players discovered themselves at the God of Thunder's mercy as a result of it not disappointing.

Particularly so early in the game when Kratos doesn't yet have all of his equipment and abilities, the battle is one of attrition, much like Baldur's. They are limited to using their skill. Furthermore, it's equally impressive as Baldur's battle, making even defeats for the player equally dramatic and visually satisfying.

It is customary for the game's final boss to prove challenging, and the Allfather delivers on that promise. Odin fights like the trickster he is, casting a variety of spells to baffle and harm the player, unlike his brutish sons. He uses a lot of damaging area-of-effect attacks, so the player must dodge a lot.

Additionally, the Allfather becomes during certain phases, making jump-ins more challenging than ever. The player is forced to use all of the knowledge and tools they have acquired in order to defeat Odin in order to bring Ragnarok to a close.
