Dragon Age Inquisition Best Classes - What Should You Choose

In the Holy Trinity of the Dragon Age classes, there was always a favorite one. Not only because of its importance in the story but also because it has been the most powerful and lethal class among companions and enemies. Bioware developers have put a lot of passion into the mage design, so it's always the best class to choose from Origins to Inquisition. Of course, it has a catch. Nothing is that simple. The rogue has most of the fun moves and the warrior is the most useful one.

There are plenty of possibilities for each class. I'm here to give you all the information you need to understand them and how to get the most out of them. Don’t freak out!

3. Rogue

The class I found most fun to play. Rogues have so many styles and combinations that are almost free to your imagination. Among them is the fighter with the highest DPS. A Rogue can be an archer or use double daggers. Both are amazing but if you want to get the biggest damage without sacrificing yourself, go for the archer. The skills of the rogue are a mix between stealth and mobility which helps them move on the battlefield faster than the rest. They are mortal creatures that play dirty games to win the fight. The catch is they're very hard to use and you cannot leave the rogue to the AI to control it. Doing this will probably kill it and waste all its potential. You have to control every move the rogue makes and never lose track of it. Double daggers are pure damage and you’ll have to expose your rogue to several enemies that can kill it pretty fast. This is why I always recommend using the archer. Not only it has insane critical damage but it can fight from a safe position and is highly useful for hunting giants, dragons, and other creatures that are a nightmare for the double dagger rogue. The Rogue can unlock the following specializations:

Artificer: They're all about traps and explosives. You can choose this preferably if you're going for an archer rogue.
Assassin: The fastest, the artist of death. The killer by excellence. This one is best at fighting from the shadows and giving deathly strikes. Assassin works fantastically with both archer and double daggers. Although it might sound weird, it makes the archer incredibly strong. The critical damage gives the archer the highest stats thanks to the assassin passive that grows dexterity. This stacks with the stealth attack that produces critical damage. It can go up to ten thousand in critical damage. Pretty OP. It works quite similarly with the double daggers but is safer to play with an archer.
Tempest: The masters of alchemy. This is the most innovative specialization in the game. They create mixtures with the elements of fire and ice with different effects each. You'll have to use space in your bar to carry the chemicals. This one works very well with a double dagger rogue but it can work with an archer too. It's a little bit boring in the long run but is better and more useful than the artificer.

What Rogue Excels In

Killing single enemies. They're fast and efficient. The critical damage makes the killing an easy task for the rogue.
Creating ambush scenarios. The traps and the ability to remain invisible are perfect for an ambush.
Squishy enemies will not survive a single second if the rogue focuses on them. The high amount of damage they do is way too much for any squishy creature that stands in their way.
They're useful when facing High Dragons. Especially the archers. Not only do they have a lot of DPS but it is also hard for the dragon to reach them at all.
Assassin and tempest are the most brutal specializations in the game. Not a common thing to see in Dragon Age considering that mages have always been the strongest. Give it a try. They work perfectly for any kind of enemy.

Choose Rogue if...

You have a lot of experience with the tactical panel and you know a bit about how to stack the critical damage. This is the hardest class to control. You can't leave it to the IA because it becomes useless. Make it an archer if you plan to take a rogue on the party and not focus on it. The IA works better with it.
You feel creative about the creation of your Inquisitor. Rogues have so many combinations that your choices are almost endless.
You like stabbing from the back instead of facing your enemy. Rogues can create interesting scenarios for your team and yourself. They are masterminds of strategy. So if you're feeling like playing smart instead of brutal, the rogue is perfect for you.

Rogue Fun Factor: The most famous rogue in the game, Varric, has only one weapon available to him, he calls it Bianca. You can't change his crossbow in any of the three games.

2. Warrior

The warrior is a face-to-face fighter. No hiding, no tricks, the warrior will face the enemies like a colossal beast. The warriors' mission is to protect their allies and receive all the damage while the rest of the party fights from a safe spot.

Warriors can use a shield and a weapon to play as the rock-solid one standing in the middle of the fight without getting killed or, use a single weapon as a two-handed warrior. Deathlier, with massive amounts of damage but a little less tanky. The warrior is divided into the following specializations:

Champion: It controls the battlefield with special defensive skills. It also grants a lot of resistance to your Inquisitor. Good as a two-handed and one-handed warrior. You’re pretty much immortal if you combine Champion with a shield warrior.
Reaver: Its damage is proportional to its health. The less health the more damage it does. The Reaver has the major DPS of all specializations but is the weakest. Better as a two-handed warrior.
Templar: Focuses on resisting magical damage and buffing the team. The templar uses divine energies to buff the party. Also immortal as a shielded warrior. This specialization is the most useful one but Champion is still better.

What Warrior Excels In:

As a Champion/Templar the warrior is the greatest tank. He will lead the battle and take the damage directly barely losing health. The Champion has a better solo skill combo and is pretty much immortal against any kind of enemy.
As a Templar, you're useful for the entire party. With the right skills, you're also an invincible tank with utility combos when battling magic enemies (which is pretty much during the whole game). Buffing your team is the most important skill of the templar and what makes it different from the Champion. The Templar is a must-have when closing the rifts around the map.
As a Reaver, your Inquisitor will be deathly. A killing machine. But it won't be able to tank, keep this in mind. Choosing Reaver will only be worth it if you're carrying another tank with you. The enemies will melt against your Reaver but it can be boring in the long run.
The warriors are great when facing big hordes of enemies. The skills of the warrior are mostly designed to hit around a considerable area of effect. Which is why they can create great combos with mages.
They can distract enemies that are focusing on your squishy companions. Use your taunting/pulling abilities at the right moment and be the savor of the mage that was standing in the wrong spot. Warriors are the only ones who can do this and make it work (not considering the rogue's similar abilities)

Choose Warrior if:

You're a newbie at Dragon Age. Warriors have always been the easiest class to use and understand. They're very simple and safe to play with. There's no need to be worried about the right positioning.
You prefer to be the brutal beast in melee combat. This will probably lead you to die while fighting High Dragons or it will be a huge headache. Since the requirement to win a fight against a High Dragon is to dodge its abilities, for the melee warrior is not a simple task. The Reaver is probably the worst when facing a dragon. So keep in mind you should level up your warrior as much as you can before taking those fights.
You want to go for a solo battle. Although some rogues can also do this, no one does the warrior's job better than the warrior. He can take solo battles against any kind of enemy and kill them without losing half his life.

Warrior Fun Factor: The warrior has an ability called "grappling chain" which is the same as Scorpion's most famous move the "spear". An advantageous ability to pull the annoying, slippery enemies.

1. Mage

The Mage is pretty much all the classes in one with the benefit of magic. He can be anything he wants. He can control the elements and the fade energies. He can use a sword and throw spells at the same time. He can move as if he was a rogue. He can deal huge amounts of damage, both to a single target and to a horde of enemies. He can do critical damage and buff the team. The Mage is everything you need in one package. Plus it adds so many more juicy interesting things to the story, such things don't happen with the rest of the classes. The only weakness of the mage is that is weak in facing dragons because the creatures have elemental and spiritual resistance. Which is where most of the mage damage comes from. I never go out without a mage, they are useful like no other class. The Mage is divided into the following specializations:

Knight-Enchanter: The concept is taken from the Arcane Warrior in Origins. They can summon a sword from the fade. The skills of the Knight-Enchanter are mostly focused on protection and defense. This type of mage is the best at facing High Dragons. Although is not as cool as the arcane warrior, is still useful. But the worst specialization of all three.
Necromancer: The classic one. They control the energy of death. They can summon spirits to fight with them, have OP control mass, and some buffs to you and the party.
Rift Mage: The name speaks for itself. This mage is capable to control the energy of the fade. The combination of the Rift Mage skills with elemental magic is extremely good. I recommend choosing this specialization. It also gives a better taste to the story.

What Mage Excels In:

Great at controlling enemies due to its stun skills. This is particularly good in Nightmare difficulty where is necessary to keep enemies far away from your mage/rogue.
Useful for healing and giving shields to the party. Especially the Knight-Enchanter.
They are hard to catch so if there's a rogue in between the enemies the mage will be safe and efficient.
Deathly against most enemies. The best thing for a mage is to go for a variety of skills to counter enemies' resistances. The most common are fire and ice resistance, some enemies will also be immune to paralysis and fear. This is why the Rift Mage is the one I consider best.
The fire element is useful to face numerous enemies. It can help you control the hordes and keep them low health for your companions who are on the first line of the battlefield.

Choose Mage if:

You prefer fighting from the distance instead of being in the middle of the battle. Knight-Enchanter can be an exception to this rule but is not as fun as the Rift Mage and the Necromancer.
You're already familiarized with the classes. The mage can be tricky if you're not good at using the tactics panel. One minute you left him alone without checking his position and he's probably dead.
You're willing to commit to the mage and its abilities. A Mage can be very useful if the skills are the right ones. Pay attention to how you combine the skills and how your enemies are affected (or not). Meaning you have to read carefully, of course.

Mage Fun Factor: Did you know that Cullen was in love with a female mage Amell in Origins? A Templar in love with a mage. A beautiful story that never happened.

1. Wizard (S Tier)

Having trained through the academies in Sanctuary, the wizard is a masterful class that holds the mysteries of the arcane. Being a highly intelligent spellcaster, this character is adept not only in dealing heavy bolts of destruction but also in evading the risks within their haunting surroundings.

An Elemental Virtuoso: Through the years, the wizard has championed absorbing the knowledge required in casting elements to their benefit. Whether they choose to throw massive balls of fire, slow their enemies with high velocity winds and freezing capabilities, or even shock them with heavy bolts of lightning, the wizard remains one of the deadly heavy hitters in the game.
A Strong Influencer: The pace of fights can be heavily influenced due to the various crowd control abilities that the wizard has. From the truly debilitating and crippling Black Hole that draws enemies within the sphere and renders them useless for a certain point of time, to slowly chilling opponents with their scattered and far hitting Ray of Frost, warriors do truly struggle when an adept wizard is blocking their way.
The Split-Second Escape Artist: Everything isn’t just an advantage with this class because as they are blessed with immense power, they come lacking on the vitality aspect of the game. Careless wizards can easily be taken down, but it’s a good thing to have the teleport ability handy, in case a close threat were to take place. Quick hands are required though, so be extra vigilant with the dangers lurking from behind.
A Frozen Shield for Low Risk takers: For players who do not want to take chances of being easily slayed, there is an ability where the spellcaster can cast either a shield that would absorb the damage taken for a certain amount of time, or it could also be modified with legendary equipments and their special spell enhancing abilities. In this case, the Ice Shield can be modified to absorb six strikes as opposed to mere damage quantity.
Disabling Time: Not only can the wizard summon a black hole and teleport, as this class can also alter time to bring the cards to their advantage. Wizards can slow time by casting a wide sphere wherein enemies who fall into this trap would be crippled and slowed down as they get beaten up with whatever spells the wizard sends to them. It works best with allies when dealing damage to the feared whales in Diablo Immortal.
Defense or Offense?: The vast array of abilities that wizards have allow them to play defensively and mess up the PvP rounds with a game of chase, or also be feared by showcasing their extreme punishing power to those who stand against them, making them a class that is truly worth the try.
The Spectacular Solo In-game Experience: It has always been quite a challenge to farm solo when playing MMOs using a wizard character due to its low health points, but not here in Diablo Immortal. The wizard can be effective in clearing hordes of opponents when exploring the open world. Be sure to equip the right abilities and you will enjoy every minute of being a Wizard in the land of Sanctuary!

2. Demon Hunter (S Tier)

It’s a no-brainer to run when you see a fierce hunter carrying two crossbows. The demon hunter is one of the most popular classes in Diablo Immortal due to its feared damage output and tremendous range. For players who haven’t tried other classes out, this is definitely one of the top picks that I would suggest to you.

The Absolute Punisher: The demon hunter is glorified and feared at the same time for its insane damage dealing outputs that it could deal upon. So rejoice if you have one in your team but if you come facing this nightmare, do make sure that you hunt the hunter in order for you not to be the one that’s hunted.
The Ridiculous Reach: Whether it’s showering deadly arrows from above or summoning wolves to push through in packs, this fighter is known for its extremely long-range damage dealing capabilities.
A Trapping Phenom: Having the ability to easily adapt to their surroundings has always been a key feature of the demon hunters ventures. With that, crafting traps and expertly setting them up has been a part of the class’s success. So, it’s not just the long-range capabilities that one should be weary of when faced with these ruthless characters.
Heavy Crowd-Control Master: Playing through quite a few MMORPGs throughout the years, I have been having the difficulty to defend myself when faced with mobs of enemies while controlling a ranged bow-wielding character. However, that’s not the case with the demon hunter as he could easily impair monsters with crowd control abilities that are available to the class.
Swift Enemy Annihilator: Facing hordes of enemies in the world of sanctuary is one of the dangers that come when roaming through each time you move on to a higher difficulty. This is not the case with this class having AoE abilities as well, clearing monsters is a breeze.
Dual-Weapon Madness: A crossbow itself can be truly deadly in its own form. When you add another one, it enables this class to transform into a painful hitter in all the ways possible!
An Agile Predator: With high damage output comes the disadvantage of having lower vitality. Although that is a fact, the survivability of the demon hunter makes it even more deadly as it is extremely agile and could either flee or chase enemies with ease.

Overall Power Rating: 95/100

3. Necromancer (A Tier)

If you want to side with the living dead, the Necromancer is a great class to try out. Players can truly immerse themselves in what Diablo Immortal really is when playing this undead sorcerer. A mix of both worlds between the living and the dead, and in terms of combat capabilities, although with just the medium range this time, when used right can be more than a nightmare for anyone they face off with.

The Great Summoner: Summoning skeleton warriors from the underworld and demons from the burning pits of hell, the necromancer can be a tough class to encounter.
Be Masterful on Timing: It is a must to be able to time your summoning skills well when using this character as it can be a matter of life or death especially in PvP matches.
An Exceptional Defender: The necromancer is superb when it comes to defending against monsters or even players and the constant summoning could hinder the opponent’s abilities useless amongst their real foes which are the characters behind those summoned nuisance creatures.
Perplex yet effective in Solo play: Due to the amount of summons that the necromancer spells out to fight for him, this class is outstanding when it comes to playing solo, especially when fighting against bosses.
Crippling Spells: It has been discussed that the necromancer works mostly based on summoning monsters, but certain skills that it possesses such as Bone Spikes that poke lethal spikes on the floor could also disable players or monsters that try to go against them.
Controlling the Dead: One of the underrated skills that the Necromancer has is called the Corpse Explosion, wherein it allows him to detonate all of the surrounding corpses in the area to deal extra damage.
An Invisible Ghost: If you have been playing Diablo Immortal for a while now, you might have noticed a Necromancer just vanished and turned into a ghost. This spell is called the Wraith Form which boosts the Necromancer’s movement speed and also gives temporary immunity from all damage.

4. Barbarian (A Tier)

For those who are fans of sheer and utter hardcore mayhem, the Barbarian is an easy choice! This ferocious melee warrior allows players to experience pure brute force amongst its enemies. No one dares to come close against a raging heavy-duty barbarian or else a dreadful slaughter is sure to occur.

An Act of Destruction: Due to its wide range of AoE (Area-of-Effect) abilities, this explosive class can plough through countless waves of monsters with ease!
A Heavy-duty Maniac: The immense strength of the barbarian is just frightful as this fighter isn’t just made for hacking-and-slashing on to oncoming victims, but also, the tough build of its nature makes this class extremely difficult to take down.
Chasing delight: One of the most frustrating parts of playing a melee character is the inability to chase other classes during PVP (Player-versus-Player) encounters. However, the barbarian comes with a range of abilities that allow him to be mobile and hasty. Those who are lucky enough to obtain special gems that cooldown these abilities always turn out to be the most annoying ones to face off in the game.
Weapons Galore: The barbarian has adapted to quite a range of weaponry throughout the many series of Diablo. His versatility allows him to wield axes and swords that increase the violent damage as he specializes in dual weapon builds.
A Whirlwind Sensation: The robust crowd control capabilities that the barbarian possesses enables him to knockback foes and stun them, while slowly punishing them in a whirlwind fashion.
The Crippling Abilities: Combining the best abilities together allows the barbarian to dominate. Skills like the Wrath of Berserker and Frenzy boosts this warrior’s attack speed. When paired with the skill Demoralize which releases a loud roar and forces enemies to attack, dropping the Hammer of the Ancients that deals a huge splash of damage, being in a frenzied state, slashing through your enemies is just like slicing through a piece of butter.
The Ceaseless Endurance: An ability feared upon is the Undying Rage, and it does live to what it’s called. When used at the right time, the barbarian can endure a hefty steak of damage as it allows the character to enter a furious rage for a certain amount of seconds, thus preventing death and converting the damage received into life points instead.

5. Crusader (A Tier)

The main issue that I have faced when playing a support character on MMORPGs is the lack of damage that a class usually has and also the inability for them to catch up. It is absolutely brilliant that Diablo Immortal has taken this into consideration for those who want to play a support role.

A Mammoth that’s built to last: The crusader is by far the toughest class to beat in the game. This class has immense vitality and was created to push through the vanguard.
Need for absolute speed: Just like the boss called the Skeleton King in the dungeon of Ashworld Cemetery, this warrior can transform and summon an undead horse to mount and face the enemies head on!
Splash Attacks: It is surprising that the crusader could farm well even by itself in the open world, thanks to the AoE skills that he has, clearing minions is possible without the need to join a group of heavy hitters.
A necessity with difficulty: Despite the Wizard and Demon Hunter having extreme damage already, a party would better consist of a crusader to influence the output of the battles, as this class can give a heavy boost to damage output!
A Great Functioning Wall of Steel: The crusader does not just serve as a punching bag in the front of battles but with the many abilities such as the Shield Glare that blinds enemies and the Shield Charge that stuns opponents for 3 seconds, this class is of high purpose.
Draw and Charge!: Adding up to the tankiness of this character comes an ability that dispels all of the crippling effects casted upon. As the crusader mounts the stellar horse in battle, the class gets a 60% boost in movement speed as well.
The Weapons of Choice: Players could either wield hammers or flails to smash upon the faces of victims of this brutal class.

Overall Power Rating: 83/100

6. Monk (B Tier)

A well-concentrated yet agile barbarous character, the monk can ruthlessly knock their prey out with their heavy hitting fists and constant combinations. This class is a must try if you are a fan of martial arts, as the graphics in the game showcases its magnificent abilities.

Focusing Inner Strengths: The monk's dedication to the mind and strength enables him to achieve brute forces of damage upon their enemies in swift rapidly constant motions.
Heavy Hitting Fists: Never challenge a monk in a fist fight as there would surely be bloodshed with his rock hard fists of steel!
Never Knew Who Hit Them: The Fists of Thunder, which is the monk's basic attack releases a combo of punches that deals heavy damage. The monk could then teleport again after landing the third hit. When the monk’s ultimate is unleashed, the Lightning Flux boosts the primary attack for another 12 seconds, showering thunderstorms upon them.
Disabling Ability: A skill called the Mystic Strike can be charged with a maximum of three charges and is used to dash forward. It isn’t just used to dash but also it leaves a ghost-like entity behind which would pull the opponent towards the monk’s body upon returning to him.
Doppelganger Capability: This class is renowned for its ability to replicate itself by summoning two spirit ghosts. These allies attack the monk’s enemies and copy the original health points as well as the damage of the player for a legendary battle!
Toughening Up: The Inner Sanctuary that this fighter places gives temporary protection towards himself and his allies for a little over nine seconds. This can be quite significant during difficult boss raids as it decreases damage taken to a substantial half of what you would usually receive!
A Class for the Ambitious: Despite having dash and teleport abilities, the monk can be burdensome and challenging to wield compared to other classes. This fighter is not suitable for a beginner, which is why it falls to the B tier on this class ranking.

What are the Strongest Classes in the Game?

Kingmaker is a complex CRPG, the variety of options available leaves most stuck at the character creation screen for hours! Still, many players regret their first class and want to start over. To save you all the headaches, I will tell you about some of the best pure classes.

1. Alchemist

Note pet goblins are not included!

A dash of rogue, a pinch of a wizard, and the chemical X (the alchemical discovery system). This class packs a good punch, can cast good buffs, and operates as a backup tank. A buff nerd that can carry you throughout the game.

What the Alchemist Excels In:

Mutagen; this is a unique buff only available to this class and stacks with every other bonus. It is available from level 1 and only gets stronger from there.
Great utility spells from both wizard and cleric spellbooks; mainly buff spells like shield, false life, and heroism but also some critical healing spells, such as restoration.
Good range damage with alchemist bombs. They are also very customizable with different added-on status effects and area of effect damage. Furthermore, they use touch armor class so you are more likely to hit enemies even late game.
With the vivisectionist specialization, you can become a capable melee character with sneak attack damage.

Pick Alchemist if:

You don’t want to take a cleric and still want to benefit from their healing spells; the alchemist spell book covers all the essentials (cure wounds, heal, restoration, etc).
You want to deal with pesky swarms or just deal consistent area of effect damage. The bombs are super effective for this purpose.
The wizard doesn’t want to waste low-level spell slots on buffing the party. After taking the infusion feat the alchemist can fill in for him.
If you plan on making a melee build consider taking one level in the Vivisectionist sub-class for the mutagen buff it's just that good.
You are looking for good progression throughout the game; alchemist gets mutagen and bombs from level 1 and doesn’t fall behind even in the late game.
You don’t want to micromanage the character too much; their buffs last long, and you can toggle their bombs to auto attack. After that, you can sit back and watch the fireworks.

2. Wizard

A Wizard in his natural environment

The lynchpin for every party, with spells for every scenario in the game, you can never go wrong with having a wizard. This class (or sorcerers) is essential to understanding this game’s magic system and is the perfect tool for dismantling any boss or tough encounter. It operates best if this is your second playthrough as it requires a certain amount of foresight (knowing the abilities of future encounters) to play perfectly. Just like every other RPG, fighters progress linearly wizards progress exponentially. There is a reason why almost all villains are magic users!

What the Wizard Excels In:

They have the best buffs in the game, the displacement and haste spells are a game changer for your frontline. From level one spells to level nine buff spells all of them have an important use. A fun example is increasing the size of your animal companions with animal growth and then polymorphing them into dragons.
Debuffing the enemy. From applying status effects to dispelling enemy magical spells, with the right feats that increase your spell save DC and the number of spell slots you can get a lot of mileage from an average wizard.
A plethora of crowd control spells that target all three different saving throws (fortitude, reflex, will), with higher level variations so they work throughout the game.
Area of Effect damage, their other utility are spells that can dispatch a swarm of lower-level enemies, with fireball usually being your opener to a normal encounter.
Extreme Versatility in their ability to learn from any scroll you have in your inventory and if you invest in the magical device skill you can even use cleric scrolls (note you cannot learn those spells, just use them).
The use of metamagic and metamagic rods; they can make a lower-level spell effective even in the end game. The only thing more useful than a normal fireball is an empowered, maximized fireball. Alternatively, you can extend spell effects or increase their reach.

Pick Wizard if:

You want to play as a pure class, unlike sorcerers, there aren’t many prestige class options for wizards. Furthermore, any level in a different class has an opportunity cost of getting more spell slots and unlocking higher spell levels.
You are fine with a weaker early game. Due to the lower level of spells available, initially, wizards will appear weaker than other classes. Their low HP does not help either ( though this is a problem all pure caster classes face).
You like to micromanage and strategize. The wizard is valuable before a fight with his buffs, starting a fight with a strong damaging spell and during the fight with crowd control and debuff spells. You need to babysit them to make sure they don’t die too early but once you get the hang of it bosses go from impossible to being free exp.
You encountered a wizard boss. They are a nightmare near the endgame due to their instant death spells and mind-controlling your party members. Not to worry, with your wizard you can resist these spells by improving your saving throws with spells like mind blank. This is what your enemies see

Slayers are rangers that don’t discriminate, they hunt all monsters equally. They are a perfect union between a rogue and a fighter, making them exceptional frontline combatants. And the cherry on top? They can study a target similar to rangers to get a bonus for attack and damage roll but unlike rangers, this ability works with everyone you just need to activate it. If monster hunting is your calling or you just want to kill things better than everyone else pick this.

What the Slayer Excels at:

Is dealing absurd and consistent damage. This is due to the study target ability and sneak attack bonus damage. Couple this with feats like power attack and your criticals will bisect enemies. Their base attack bonus and the number of attacks scale the same as rangers and fighters meaning they hit just as much and are as likely to hit their targets as them.
Having good survivability. Thanks to having the same hit die as fighters they gain a similar amount of HP per level. Not to mention they can wear heavy armor after getting the right feat.
Being versatile due to the variety of class skills they gain and the combination of ranger and rogue feats they have under slayer talents.

Pick Slayer if:

You think the fighter was too boring but don’t want to micromanage as much as a wizard. They have a few active abilities such as Study Target and Slayer’s Advance along with the regular point-and-click gameplay of fighters. This helps with positioning and singling out targets such as bosses.
You want a good teamwork class; the Vanguard sub-class can share his teamwork feat with his party and half of his Study Target bonuses.
You want to rip and tear; all slayers can already dish out insane damage but you can always increase that if you optimize your build by picking the Deliverer or Spawn-Slayer sub-class because they deal even more bonus damage based on enemy alignment and size. Just pick up a weapon and go at it.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is a complex CRPG where you tame the Stolen Lands and try to become its ruler. Selecting a class can be overwhelming, what if I make the wrong decision? Well then you are in luck, this guide will help you get a beginner-friendly class. My criteria will focus on how easy it is to play. How strong does it get? Does it teach you the game’s systems?

1. Ranger

Rangers when they see their preferred enemy

Rangers are specialized hunters who excel at hunting their favored enemy. They can be skilled in both melee and ranged combat. To top this off they also receive some spells, making them a very versatile class.

What the Ranger Excels In:

With a hit die of 10 (potential to gain 10 hit points every level), they are durable as fighters if you are just looking at HP without including benefits from feats. The healing spells they receive later on also helps
An animal companion gives them more damage and a backup tank with certain animals being extremely strong.
Excellent attack bonus (their ability to hit things) making them viable combatants throughout the game. They also receive the same number of attacks as fighters ( an additional attack after every 5 levels).
Weapon specialization comes with their kit; the combat style ability grants you feats related to your preferred weapon specialization e.g. archery, dual wielding, two-handed weapons, and sword shield.
Extremely effective against their specialized enemy; the ability ‘favored enemy’ gives rangers bonus attack and damage to an enemy type of their choosing (e.g. demons, humans, wildlife, etc).
Great survivalists; rangers get a good amount of skill points combined with their ability favored terrain which grants bonuses to specific skills (nature lore, perception, stealth, and initiative).

Pick Ranger if:

If you want a class that gets progressively more complex while still having simple core gameplay; the rangers for the most part can be played as a standard fighter or archer but as you level up you unlock the animal companion allowing for positioning and tactics. Then you also get spells (mostly low and buffing type) you can experiment with.
You want your main character to have a variety of skills; rangers get a decent amount of skill points giving them more utility than other martial characters, especially fighters. So a ranger who is persuasive or good at stealth is a viable roleplay option.

2. Fighter

Stylish but functional

The fighter is the first line of defense for the party. Strong, tough, and easy to use are the hallmarks of this class making it the perfect class for anyone new getting into this game. It doesn’t get any more classic than this.

What the Fighter Excels In:

The fighter is one of the toughest classes out there; from its high health points to its ability to equip and use heavy armor to its maximum potential. This is further augmented with the use of feats and buffs.
Extremely customizable due to receiving the most bonus feats out of every class available; you have a lot of freedom with your builds such as creating a fighter who specializes in tripping or someone who scares his opponents with every blow. They can specialize in every weapon type, use all types of armor and use different combat styles (sword and shield, two-handed weapons, etc).
Good offense; the fighter has some of the best class attack bonuses and number of attacks. They get the weapon training line of exclusive feats which improve your attack bonus and damage with a specific weapon type.

Pick Fighter if:

If you want a strong but simple role the fighter is the one for you. They are tough and can do good damage but their gameplay is very simple throughout the game. Most of the strategy comes from your build, weapons, and your positioning during battle.
You are fine with a very limited role outside of combat; you will have a very limited amount of skills and will have to rely on your party for most skill checks.

3. Paladin

This sword is for smiting evil

Noble knights dedicate themselves to a deity and follow their doctrine religiously. Paladins are a strong martial class with cleric spell casting abilities. Their main role is to be frontline fighter, buff themselves, and generally support the party with healing spells and smiting the enemy.

What the Paladin Excels In:

A very tough class that gets a lot of hit points, can equip heavy armor and has very good saving throws (due to divine grace). If that wasn’t enough they can cast healing spells as well. Along with fighters they were built to be tanks.
Strong melee class especially against evil enemies. Paladins already scale the same as fighters when it comes to their bonus attacks and number of attacks but they also have smite and weapon bonds to further increase their attack potential.

Pick Paladin if:

You want to play as a fighter with a more active role. As a paladin, you will need to cast smite and heals along with being the tank for your party. The gameplay gets a bit more complex as you learn more spells and abilities.
You are fine with making moral choices restricted within your alignment; as a paladin your powers come from worshipping your god who requires you to stay on a certain alignment, losing that will get rid of your powers.

4. Sylvan Sorcerer

A sorcerer in their natural environment

You’ve probably noticed that all the previous recommendations are melee classes with some magic. There is a reason for this, pure casters can be very overwhelming for newcomers. However, this is the one class that can be the perfect training wheels for getting into the magic system of Pathfinder. A sorcerer is a magical powerhouse that can buff the party, do crowd control and deal massive damage with their spells. Unlike wizards, sorcerer innately learns their magic meaning you don’t need to memorize spells.

What the Sylvan Sorcerer Excels In:

Swift spell progression, second only to wizards. They quickly increase the number and level of spells they can cast. Has a high number of spells you can cast before resting, you can see this from their level progression.
Strong yet versatile spells; from the ability to buff themselves and the party with Displacement, resist energy, etc to dish out damage with fireballs and hellfire rays. Summoning monsters to support the party and evening up the battlefield with cloudkill and grease. Every stratagem requires the use of their spells.
Having a strong animal companion that can act as a tank and damage dealer; Smilodon (one of the best animal companions you can pick) has five attacks and a lot of hit points.

Pick Sylvan Sorcerer if:

If you want to learn the magic system of the game. The sorcerer doesn’t need to memorize spells so you don’t need to plan every encounter. The spell selection lets you try out all the important combinations. It also lets you test metamagic for advanced play. If your spells are not working out or you feel overwhelmed your animal companion can help you out.
If you want to be very active in and out of combat. Sorcerers have a good range of skills that can be useful outside of combat encounters. Furthermore, you will be buffing your party and initiating the fights with a spell.

5. Barbarian

The barbarian is rage incarnate. They are amazing fighters that melt through enemies. A bit more complex than fighters barbarians are a simple class to get into.

What the Barbarian Excels In:

The barbarian excels at dealing raw damage. Their attack bonuses and the number of attacks are on par with fighters. They get rage which adds further attack and damage bonuses but it doesn’t end there, their rage can be further customized as you level up to become even more deadly.
They are tough, receiving a d12 hit die on every level up (potential to gain up to 12 hit points without adding constitution modifier) and damage reduction during rage. They can even equip medium armor.
The mad dog sub-class gains an animal companion which acts as a damage sponge and damage dealer.

Pick Barbarian if:

Pick Barbarian if the standard fighter is not your flavor; a bit more complex than the fighter during the fight, the Barbarian’s main strategy is quickly eviscerating their targets be it the boss or the squishy mage.
If you want a really strong start this is the class for you. Most of your toughest encounters will be the starting few fights with some optional encounters being especially troublesome. The first few levels will make your Barbarian more than capable of challenging these foes getting rare loot at the start.

You can use their double jump to reach places other classes can’t and use your wings to climb to distant areas when flying mounts are impossible! More than that, this class spec offers excellent and consistent damage in combat!

Using their “dash” skill to speed up your moves will fasten the gold farming!

Blood Death Knight is a brutal and monstrous class spec that can hold good damage, heal itself, and use Anti-Magic Shell to have no worries about some debuffs against creatures and players. The basic rotation starts with the Bone Shield at five or more stacks by using Marrowrend. The damage will get better after Heart Strike and Death Strike in sequence. Keeping this rotation will give you the maximum amount of Runic Power; to it flawlessly, use Blood Boil against the enemies. The cooldowns and temporary immunities are the keys to keeping the excellent skill rotation. As a tank class spec, having a good self-healing skill can upset some healers by the variation of the HP, especially in PVP!

Want to be the top healer in the PVP group? Want to have many friends asking you for buffs? Do you want to be upset by the freaking DPS or tank that always keeps in the fire? If your answer is “Holy Crap!” then welcome to the fun side!

Holy Priests aren’t only a good healing spec and a good option for single target attack, debuffs, and defense. This spec gives you an excellent healing power focused on each party member, but also, using Symbol of Hope, Divine Hymn, and Holy Word: Salvation in a group and taking care to not be out of mana is a wise choice. For Single-Target Healing, the advice is always to keep Holy Word: Serenity active and Heal skill. Only use Flash Heal when someone is almost dying; using this under other circumstances will end your mana fast!

Why Holy Priest is OP in PvP:

Excels at reactive burst and group healing.
Powerful group cooldowns with Divine Hymn and the talents Apotheosis and Holy Word: Salvation.
Can heal through death for a short period of time with Spirit of Redemption.

In Shadowlands, the gameplay of this spec didn’t have considerable changes, but choosing the correct Covenant is always the best you can do!

Subtlety Rogue is not only great at a single target, but also it has good mobility and survivability! Throw some shuriken against your enemies and attack them by stealth; make the enemy’s healer get pissed after being killed so quickly and nobody seeing what happened. As a rogue, your weapons are two daggers, energy is your resource, and your only friend is your thirst for blood!

A great sustained AoE skills!
Short and regular cooldowns that will always have one ready to use!
Powerful defensive cooldowns such as Cloak of Shadows, Feint, Evasion and Crimson Vial.

Who are the playable characters of Team Fortress 2?

Team Fortress 2 is the story of two feuding twin brothers hiring mercenaries to take each other’s lands. Lore aside, Team Fortress 2 is a class-based multiplayer First-Person Shooter game where you shoot at the opposite team and complete objectives. The game still tops the charts of most active players on Steam and has been going strong for almost 15 years because of its unique presentation and mechanics.

After nearly 15 years of updates, items, maps, cosmetics, strategies, and even memes, it may be hard for new players to know what to do since the game is so different from most FPS. With 9 classes to play, they’re each unique enough to fit a certain playstyle and fill specific roles that you will find addictively fun!

For veterans or new players alike, here’s some information on every class so you can see yourself as the top player on your team! Or, at the very least, hopefully you will learn how to play better just so you can try some of the most whacky tactics the game has to offer!

Scout

Hailing from Boston, the Scout is the youngest mercenary of the cast with a base of 125 HP.

As the fastest class in the game with his unique double jump, he can maneuver around enemies to sting like a bee and fly away like a butterfly! He also has a +1 capture bonus when capturing objectives or pushing the cart.

His primary gun is the scattergun, a high-damage weapon with devastating potential at close range. While there are other unlockable primary weapons, such as the two-shot Force-a-Nature and Soda Popper, the scattergun is considered the best option in most situations since it’s the most reliable.

Scout’s secondary weapons are mostly different variants of pistols that allow him to finish off weakened enemies, with the notable mention of the Winger, a pistol that allows his jumps to be 25% higher while deployed in exchange for a smaller clip. The Scout can equip some beverages in his secondary slot for support, like extinguishing teammates on fire with the Mad Milk, or self-buffs with the Bonk! Atomic Punch and the Crit-a-Cola. There’s also the Flying Guillotine for ranged damage.

Scout is the only one who has ranged melee weapons, with the Wrap Assassin and the Sandman having a projectile. Scout swings his melee attacks twice as fast as the other classes, but only for about half the damage, making it not a very effective last-resort option. But hey, at least you can get a FISH KILL announced on the kill feed if you manage to hit and kill someone with the Holy Mackerel!

What the Scout excels at:

High mobility to flank and find routes to get where you need to quickly.
High damage potential to win one-on-one battles; capable of killing most classes with two max damage shots from the Scattergun.
Faster capture rate.

Weaknesses:

With only 125 HP and as a frontline attacker, the Scout is a very vulnerable class.
Sentry guns obliterate Scouts and deny them the area they cover.
Requires a high level of skill with aiming and movement to dish out max damage potential consistently.

You should pick Scout if:

You like fast-paced gameplay with high-risk high-reward thrills.
You like being aggressive and constantly pushing pressure into your opponents.
You like having extensive movement options to deal with a variety of situations.

Soldier

Despite being rejected from every branch of the U.S. military, nothing stops the Soldier from being a (self-proclaimed) true American veteran!

Whether you’re a pro player rocket jumping and flying through the map, or a newbie that shoots missiles at the enemies’ feet, the Soldier’s high damage output makes him the best offensive class in the game.

The Soldier’s primary weapon is a rocket launcher capable of damaging multiple enemies at the same time. While there are a variety of rocket launchers to choose from, they all function the same. The true magic of the weapon lies in the ability to rocket jump, which is shooting at your feet to sacrifice a bit of HP in exchange for enhanced mobility.

Even though killing is what the Soldier does best, his secondary weapon slot gives him some of the best offensive support capabilities in the game. With the Buff Banner, the Battalion’s Backup, and the Concheror, you can fill a meter after doing a certain amount of damage to activate buffs for you and your team. You can also equip some boots that give benefits to rocket jumping, but if you aren’t good enough, maybe it’s better to stick with the shotgun for close-range combat as your secondary weapon.

Unless you’re a real veteran at the class and a master of rocket jumping to use the Market Gardener (a “trolldier”), you shouldn’t be in a situation where you have to pull out your melee weapon. Your best melee options are the Disciplinary Action, which provides you and the teammate you hit with a brief speed boost, or the Escape Plan, which allows you to move quickly when your HP is low.

What the Soldier excels at:

High damage explosive output that can kill an enemy or a group of enemies in a few shots.
With 200 HP and being able to shoot safely behind cover by peeking through corners or from a distance, the Soldier is the backbone of every offensive push.
Rocket jumping is useful for mobility; whether you’re godlike at it and a master of the skies or a novice who uses it to reach higher places quickly, having more options is a huge advantage.

Weaknesses:

With only 4 rockets in the clip (3-5 depending on the rocket launcher) and a slow reload speed, you have to make each rocket count.
With the 2nd slowest movement speed, this class can feel very sluggish at times if you don’t have the tools to buff your speed or the rocket jumping skills to move faster.

You should pick Soldier if:

You like being at the forefront of the offensive.
You like being aggressive and having your initiative rewarded with kills and buff potential.
You like training and getting better at the game and seeing noticeable improvements in your mobility.

Pyro

As the most enigmatic of the mercenaries, not much is known about who is behind the mask.

Despite its respectable 175 base HP and imposing figure, the flamethrower makes for a game plan that is not very suited for offense despite being classified as an offensive class. Because of the main weapon’s shortcomings, the class has been relegated to an ambiguous mix of defensive and/or supportive roles rather than dominating the frontlines.

To put it bluntly, the flamethrower is a weapon that shines brighter when using its airblast mechanic to reflect certain projectiles to protect yourself and your teammates, or when using it to find pesky invisible spies. Because of its limited range fire doing damage over time, the Pyro is best used when flanking and/or ambushing unsuspecting and lone opponents. Pyro is a linear class, but whatever you do, please don’t run out in the open straight into a group of enemies!

Pyro’s secondary weapons don’t change the way he plays, except for the Thermal Thruster, a jetpack that makes it possible to make big leaps that improve mobility and flanking potential. The Detonator and Flare Gun are good secondary options to finish off enemies on fire, while the Scorch Shot is a long-range tool if you want to annoy the enemy team. Shotguns are a reliable secondary option, but at close range, it might be better to use your flamethrower.

As for melee options, in most situations it’s better to pick the Powerjack to move faster. If you decide to become a “Pybro” and help your team’s Engineer, you can use the Homewrecker to destroy enemy Spy’s Sappers that slowly damage your team’s Engineer’s buildings. If you prefer an offensive melee option, the Axtinguisher is a good combo to finish off enemies that you have lit on fire.

What the Pyro excels at:

Being the best class at Spy checking to protect your team from one-hit kills.
Defending the area around your Engineer’s buildings.
Using airblast to reflect explosives from Soldiers and Demomen.
Stalling an enemy ubercharge push with your airblast.

Weaknesses:

Flamethrowers are linear, predictable, and easy to counter.
Flamethrower and afterburn do damage over time, which makes it easy to counter by using different healing sources and various extinguishing options.

You should pick Pyro if:

You like playing patiently to flank and ambush opponents.
You like being defensive and supporting teammates by reflecting and denying explosives.
You like pushing enemies off cliffs with your airblast.
You really hate spies and want them to suffer.

Demoman

This one-eyed man from Scotland doesn’t even need to look at you to kill you!

Equipped with his grenade launcher and his stickybomb launcher, the Demoman is an expert at explosive damage. Despite being categorized as a defensive class, his power is good enough to put him as a frontline attacker that excels in any situation.

The Demoman’s grenade launcher is one of the strongest weapons in the game, dealing a whopping 100 points of damage on direct contact! A good alternative for the primary weapon is the Iron Bomber, which has a slightly smaller explosion radius in exchange for the explosives not bouncing as much. The Loose Cannon is a fun but skillful alternative that bonks and pushes enemies and then explodes after a certain amount of time.

His secondary weapon slot is a stickybomb launcher capable of sticking explosives onto surfaces that can be detonated remotely. The weapon was designed as an area denial tool that surprises enemies by being placed in locations out of their sight, but sticky bombs are also a good offensive option at mid-range, so players sometimes refer to the Demoman as the “Demospam.”

But we can’t talk about the Demoman without talking about the Demoknight, a subclass that specializes in melee combat by providing buffs and incentives for killing enemy players and collecting their heads. The subclass works with shield options in the secondary slot that allow the Demoknight to rush with incredible speed with a guaranteed critical hit that can one-hit kill most classes, making him an unstoppable force that wreaks havoc against the enemy team! There are a variety of swords and melee options, as well as shields and boots to make your own Demoknight based on your preferences.

What the Demoman excels at:

High and constant explosive damage that works well both as an attacker and as a defender.
His grenade launcher and stickybomb launcher can shoot projectiles at an angle, which can be useful for damaging a position while being out of sight.
Like the Soldier, the Demoman has his version of explosive jumping with sticky jumping, which lets him reach farther and higher places quicker.

Weaknesses:

The grenade launcher shoots in an arc, so while powerful, it’s difficult to get direct hits consistently, so it takes some practice getting your pipes to do max damage.
The Demoman is at its weakest at close range; his explosives can damage him as well if they hit an enemy player too close, leaving his melee as the only option to deal with enemies that insist on close and personal combat.

You should pick Demoman if:

You like having the weapons when a situation changes between having to be aggressive or defensive.
You like having mobility options that let you be useful in any situation.
You have fun being a melee monster that causes destruction in your path.

Heavy

Boasting a minigun that costs 400,000 dollars to fire for 12 seconds, the Heavy Weapons Guy, a doctor in Russian literature, is also the face of the game.

Despite his iconic status, sadly, he’s considered to be one of the worst classes in the game. With 300 base HP, the highest in the game, along with possibly the highest DPS, what makes him so bad?

Heavy’s main weapon is a minigun that can mow down and obliterate the enemy team if it can get into a good firing position, but he’s too slow to get there. Being a slow and big-moving target is never a good thing, and Heavy will often struggle to catch people at the close range where he is the most effective. Even flanking enemies will be hard, since revving up the minigun is noisy and will give up your position unless you’re using the Tomislav, a silent alternative to the primary weapon slot.

If we talk about Heavy’s secondary weapons, we have to talk about the Sandvich, his other iconic item that restores health. Your team may hate you for this, but you could also try going “Fat Scout'' and equipping a shotgun to try and kill people exclusively this way, but at that point, you’d be better off playing Scout.

Using Heavy’s melee is like using the rain to collect water while already having gallons of fresh water available, which is pointless because at melee fighting range is when he’s at his strongest with his minigun, so there shouldn’t be a reason to use his melee to fight. The Gloves of Running Urgently are a notable weapon that grants a speed buff that drains health while active and slowly gives it back when not used.

What the Heavy excels at:

Devastating close-range damage.
Being one of the best classes to use an ubercharge to destroy sentry guns and enemy positions.
Being a strong defensive force that helps an area that an engineer’s sentry gun can’t reach.

Weaknesses:

Despite having the highest HP in the game, Heavy’s size and slow speed make him a very vulnerable class to attackers that can fight outside of his range, and he’s also very susceptible to one-hit kills from Snipers and Spies.
The design of the minigun is a point and hold click to fire, so you have to focus on one enemy at a time when fighting against more than one player.
He’s too slow to get into the action. Some fast-paced matches can happen and he may be dragging behind only to find he’ll either have to keep catching on if his team advances, or find himself surrounded if his team was defeated.
His full potential requires constant support from his Medic to make him a formidable fighting force.

You should pick Heavy if:

Your team can’t make an effective push because the enemy team is good at denying explosive projectiles
You enjoy the moments when Heavy works well and mows down your enemies quickly.

Engineer

Despite the Engineer’s soft-spoken nature and 11 science PhDs, this Texan is a capable killer that doesn’t even need to get his hands dirty.

With the ability to construct buildings, the automated Sentry gun, the health and ammo Dispenser, and Teleporters, the Engineer is a crucial defensive and supportive class for any team’s success. As a popular class pick, even players that aren’t experienced playing FPS games can do well and score many points.

We can skip most of the talk about the Engineer’s weapons because his most important tools are the buildings he constructs to help his team. The engineer has the unique metal stat that is used to build, upgrade, and repair his contraptions. You can build by using the construction PDA and then selecting and placing the building you want, and then hitting them with your Wrench to build them faster, upgrade them up to level 3, or repair them when they’re damaged.

Sentry guns take 130 metal to build, Dispensers take 100 metal to build, and each teleporter (entrance and exit) takes 50 metal. All buildings take 200 metal to upgrade a level, a worthy investment for the level 3 Sentry gun, which is a powerful area denial automated weapon. It may be painful to part ways with your buildings, but you can use the Destruction PDA to destroy your buildings, often better than going back to pick them up and placing them where you want when it’s faster to just build them again from scratch.

For primary weapon options, the Rescue Ranger allows you to heal and pick up your buildings from a distance, improving mobility and different position possibilities. For the secondary weapon slot, the Wrangler is considered the best (and often overpowered) option because it allows you to take manual firing control of your Sentry gun with a health and damage buff while at the same time extending its range. As for melee options, all of them allow for building construction and repair by hitting them, but the most different option is the Gunslinger, which gives the Engineer an extra 25HP (moving his base HP from 125 to 150) in exchange for making his Sentry gun a mini Sentry that deploys quicker but is weaker.

What the Engineer excels at:

Powerful area denial with the Sentry gun, an indispensable part of any defending team.
He has essential support with his Dispenser and the Teleporters, a movement mechanic exclusive to him that makes his team move faster from spawn to where the battle is taking place.

Weaknesses:

Engineer can be difficult to roll out in some game modes that are too fast for him to set up all his buildings. Especially in game modes with shifting spawn points, he may sometimes have trouble catching up with his gear. For this reason, he’s better at playing on defense (RED team) in game modes where you need to stop the opposing team.
Spies are the bane of his existence because his Sappers disable and destroy buildings. One good Spy play can take down everything that the Engineer spent time and resources working on.

You should pick Engineer if:

Your team struggles to hold ground and is constantly getting pushed.
You want to contribute to your team’s success but aren’t confident enough to fight on the frontlines.

Medic

With great interest in mad medicinal experiments, this German doctor works as a mercenary just to fund his atrociously expensive but groundbreaking research, of which his healing abilities came as a side effect.

The Medic is the most consistent and efficient class to restore health and keep his team in top-fighting condition. When healing for a long time, you’ll be able to fill the ubercharge meter, one of the most central mechanics in the game, making the Medic one of, if not the, most important class in the game.

The secondary slot in the Medic’s arsenal is the Medigun, the best tool to keep the fighting alive by keeping your teammates alive. The ubercharge mechanic grants the medic and his healing target full invulnerability to damage for 8 seconds and is the best way to break through enemy lines. Healing teammates that are already at max HP helps by giving them an overheal, a temporary buff that extends their HP up to 50%.

How the ubercharge is used can be the deciding factor in winning or losing a match, so while there are other healing alternatives, the stock Medigun is the best. As for the Medic’s other weapons, they should be used the least amount possible because when you’re not healing your teammates, you’re also not building the ubercharge meter. The best weapon for his primary slot is the Crusader’s Crossbow, which shoots a single arrow that either heals a teammate, or damages an enemy, with more healing/damage depending on how far away you are from your target.

Medic is not for fighting and he’s better off helping his teammates do the dirty work for him. If you can’t find anyone to heal, it’s better to run away. If all hope seems lost and you have to defend yourself at close range, the Ubersaw is the best option since every successful melee hit fills up your ubercharge meter by 25%, an extra amount that may save your life by filling your meter to use it to run escape safely or even turn the tables back on them!

What the Medic excels at:

Being the best and most efficient constant healing source that keeps your team alive and in top-notch condition to keep fighting.
Breaking through stalemates with the use of the powerful and game-changing ubercharge.
An indispensable class; a team is always better off and stronger with a medic rather than without one.

Weaknesses:

One of the most vulnerable classes in the game lacking in self-defense options.
Being such an important asset in any team, Snipers, Scouts, Soldiers, Spies, and others will try to make you their priority target to eliminate.
With a point and heal game plan and as a class that should stay alive at all costs and not engage the enemy, the class may feel boring to play.

You should pick Medic if:

You like to contribute as one of the most important classes to win games.
*ou like seeing yourself topping the scoreboards by sharing the success of the players you heal.

Sniper

This New Zealander raised in Australia is a polite and professional killer with standards.

As the only class in the game that excels at long-ranged combat, the Sniper is a class that is loved by many and hated by twice as many others. The longer you’re scoped in with the Sniper Rifle, the higher your damage!

The Sniper is a controversial class because of his devastating potential to one-shot with the relative comfort of being unchallenged and unbothered. With a fully-charged bodyshot, Sniper can deal 150 points of damage, enough to insta-kill five classes in the game, while headshots do that amount of base damage and fully-charged does 450 points of damage, just enough to kill a fully overhealed Heavy. Other Sniper Rifles and weapons exist, but there isn’t enough variation to change his gameplay, with the exception of the Huntsman, which replaces his primary weapon with a bow and arrow that are much harder to use and it’s quite frankly a downgrade.

His secondary weapon consists of the SMG, an underwhelming offensive option that is better used to finish off weakened opponents. The true golden beacon of the Sniper’s secondary option arsenal is the Jarate, to put it simply, a jar of piss, that soaks enemy players and makes all damage they receive become mini-crits. Besides making enemies easier to kill, it has more utility by drenching invisible spies and revealing their position, as well as extinguishing teammates that are on fire.

Since the Sniper is a long-ranged class in a game that focuses on close to mid-range combat, one would guess that fighting up close would be his weakness, right? Well, not quite, since the Sniper has a melee weapon called the Buschwacka that deals critical damage whenever it would normally deal mini-crit damage, so pairing it up with the Jarate makes the Sniper a monster at close range if he can pull off the combo, dealing a whopping 195 points of damage just for daring to fight him at close range.

What the Sniper excels at:

Being the only class that is the most effective at long range.
Killing off priority targets.
Supporting an offensive push with Jarate as well as extinguishing teammates on fire.

Weaknesses:

It’s easy to get tunnel vision and get caught off guard and killed before you even know it.
His game plan depends a lot on the map that it’s being played on. Some maps make the Sniper godlike, while others make him almost useless if there are no good sight lines.
He’s not very good at making offensive pushes like pushing the cart or capturing a point, so he’s better when playing on defense.

You should pick Sniper if:

You enjoy being able to put your sniping skills to the test and getting headshots for insta-kills.
You’re good at tracking enemy movement and denying the enemy advances before they even start.
You like to make people ragequit.

Spy

From France with love, the Spy is a mercenary of many mysteries, but what is known for sure is that he’s not what it seems, and, who knows, maybe he’s not on your side at all.

Being able to turn invisible and disguise, he creates chaos with his powerful insta-kill backstabs that may leave the enemy scrambling to find this sneaky menace. Despite having one of the most unique gameplay in the entire FPS genre, there are so many things working against the Spy, making him one of the worst classes in the game.

The spy can move while being invisible and disguise as a member of the opposing team to attack them from behind their lines and score a one-hit kill move with a backstab. But because of this game plan, with only 125 base HP and constantly being surrounded by enemies, the Spy is a very vulnerable class and a real glass cannon that is either kill or get killed. Constantly dying after getting one kill or two, respawning, and then moving all the way back behind enemy lines can be a frustrating process that only experienced players can make the most of.

As a Spy, you have to get into the closest of melee ranges to land a hit with your knife on the enemy’s back, a dangerous position since most classes are better at fighting at close range. If you have the misfortune of mistiming your melee attack, you’ll do “butter knife” damage, which is incredibly weak and you will die getting swarmed by your enemies. The Spy’s primary weapon, the Revolver can be powerful enough to damage or kill enemies to allow you to retreat, but it doesn’t make up for his shortcomings when he fails to backstab.

The Spy’s Sapper is a tool that you use to attach to the enemy Engineer’s buildings that disables and damages them, making him a good class to disrupt defenses to make your team push forward more easily. There are many things the Spy can do to help his team in significant ways, but the biggest downside is inconsistency; sometimes the game’s hit registration will rob you (or award you) backstabs, and sometimes there are bugs in your disguise (missing limbs as a disguised Demoman, for example) that make you even more obvious that you are a Spy, and some glitches (like floating icons) straight up reveal your position even while invisible.

What the Spy excels at:

Sneaky gameplay with insta-kills for priority targets that can disrupt the enemy team.
Disabling and taking down enemy Engineer buildings.

Weaknesses:

Very vulnerable class that will often get you killed after accomplishing (or failing) a kill if you don’t disappear and run away fast enough.
Many players have it ingrained in their memory to always do spy checks to reveal enemy Spies. Good team communication and awareness make it hard for a Spy player to play well.
Pyros, Scout’s Mad Milk, Sniper’s Jarate, and other classes and tools are good at countering the Spy, making his already hard job even more difficult.
Spy’s priority target elimination can often be done better by the Sniper instead.

You should play Spy if:

You like the highest of risks for the reward of killing the target that your team needs dead the most at the best of times.
You are an expert on the game’s mechanics and proficient enough with this class to pull off trickstabs and other impressive feats.

To put it bluntly, the Scout, Soldier, Demoman, and Medic are the best classes to play because they will always perform well in any situation. That is not to mean that the rest of the cast is useless, but their true strengths shine in more specific situations that suit their role. However, all talk about which class to pick and skill honing for victory is something a lot of players ignore because they would rather relax doing conga lines and group dances and other funny shenanigans instead of going try hard all the time.

There may be only 9 classes in the game to play, but with countless weapons, maps, tactics, and player levels, Team Fortress 2 provides an endless amount of fun that always brings new and fresh experiences. Even after all this time, the game still welcomes new players and is an experience that lives up to its slogan as the most fun you can have online.

Elden Ring Best Class - What Should You Play?

Elden ring has ten different starting classes to choose from, if you wish to be a mage or a colossal sword user, you will have to level up your build towards that spell or weapon. With each starting class having its attributes fairly different this could make it easier to build toward what you want. With lower-level starting classes it’ll be easier to level up than in classes with higher levels. It is also important to note that your starting class doesn't really matter later on, as you can respec into a different build with a Larval Tear at Rennala, this detailed guide of each class will help new-comers and veterans who are struggling to choose their best fit. Elden Ring is also quite giving when it comes to level distribution so no matter what class you end up using, as long as it isn't wretch, you will be fine.

Vagabond

Vagabond is a solid choice as a starting class. (pictured)

Vagabond is perfect for new players as it has a decent set of weapons and the most levels in vigor out of all the classes, with a great-looking armor set, and starting weapons consisting of the Halbert, Longsword, and Heater shield, the only downside is you’ll have to remove some of the armor or your Halbert to be able to medium roll because there’s nothing worse than fat rolling your way through a souls game.

Vagabond excels in:

New player friendly.
Most vigor.
Good for dex strength users.
Great starting armor.

Pick Vagabond if:

You want a good starting class.
If you wish to use a strength or dex build.
Try to parry the starting soldiers with your shield.

Warrior

Warrior (pictured) great looking class.

The warrior class is one of the best classes if you wish to be a dex build, with two fast Scimitars and a Riveted wooden shield to practice that parrying skills, you’ll be more than able to roll behind attacking enemies for that backstab. The warrior's armor set is sturdy yet light so rolling won’t be an issue for your high dex character, and with the added ten levels in mind, you’ll be using the Scimitars ash of war to its full potential.

What Warrior excels in:

Fast-paced combat.
Dexterity weapons.
Parrying with small shields.

Pick warrior if:

You want to play a dex character.
You want to use bows as your main ranged armament.
Roll through attacks rather than tanking damage.
Want to start as a decent dex character.

Hero

Hero class (pictured) is great for strength players.

With the hero class having the highest starting strength level and a high vigor with good endurance, this class is tanky and great for strength users. Starting with the big axe and a shield (and a torch which you’ll rarely use when you have the lamp.) this Nepheli Loux build is one great starting class for those who wish to pulverize their enemies.

What Warrior class excels in:

Strength weapons.
Dealing big damage with slow speed.
Being able to use colossal weapons.

Pick warrior if:

You want to be a strength character
You want to tank a few hits and also deal damage.

Bandit

Bandit (pictured) for those who want to rely on backstabs.

As a bandit you won’t just be a fast-paced, close-ranged, parrying poker, you’ll also be one of the best-looking classes in all of the lands. Great at stealth you’ll backstab enemies with ease as you embrace your inner shinobi. Starting with a great knife, a fast attacking weapon that causes bleed build-up (which is quite strong in Elden ring), a short bow, and a buckler shield that is perfect for parrying, the bandit is fast and versatile.

What bandit excels in:

Stealth.
Medium range and short range combat.
With the highest arcane stat, blood weapons will obliterate bosses.
With arcane as high as it is, finding new gear will be a breeze as discovery scales with arcane.

Pick bandit if:

You miss playing Sekiro.
You want fast-paced boss fights.
You want to use bleed to its full scaling abilities.
You want stealthier gameplay.

Astrologer

The astrologer is the best class for anyone wanting to be a mage, and with magic being so strong in Elden ring, it’s a great choice. With high intelligence and mind, two strong starting spells; glintstone people and glintstone arc., a short sword with a Scripture wooden shield, and obviously the Astrologers staff, you will be set as a strong magic/ dex split.

What Astrologer excels in:

Low Hp high damage makes this the glass cannon build.
Magic.
Ranged combat.

Pick Astrologer if:

You want to be a strong mage character.
With a few levels of vigor and endurance, you’ll be less squishy, so you’ll be a rounded mage build.
You want a huge variety of spells and sorceries at your disposal.

Prophet

Prophet (pictured) for the holy players.

If you wish to be the holiest of players, the prophet class is what you should invest in, with it being the highest starting faith class and having more evenly distributed stats than the astrologer it is a great starting class for those who want to use incantations. With a finger seal, short seal and a shield the prophet will be able to poke at his enemies while using the heal and catch flame incantations.

What prophet excels in:

Incantations.
Healing yourself and summons.

Pick prophet if:

You want to be a faith-based character.
Heal your team in a boss fight.
To use dragon incantations.
You want to use holy weapons.

Samurai

Samurai (pictured) for the lovers of Sekiro.

The samurai is one of the best starting classes, with an amazing armor set, a shield, and a longbow with normal and fire arrows, you will be looking amazing and dealing great damage. The weapon you’ll use most is the Uchigatana, and if you’ve played Dark Souls you will recognize the amazing sword, with the sword dealing bleed damage, and having the ash of war unsheathe that’ll make you feel like a real samurai, you will be playing Ghost of Tsushima in the lands between.

What samurai excels in:

Doing far and close-range damage.
Dealing great bleed damage, with bleed being as strong as it is.
Dodging, with the most endurance out of all the classes.

Pick samurai if:

You want to be a dex build.
Be overpowered with bleed.
Want to parry, dodge and shoot all in one build.

Prisoner

The prisoner (pictured) is also known as the saddest-looking character with a helmet like that.

The prisoner, the class with a great split between dex and int is a great starting class to deal great ranged damage and close range damage with a great starting thrusting sword the Estoc. The glintstone staff is great with the spell the prisoner gets magic glintblade, and the rift shield will also let you parry enemies to deal massive damage.

The prisoner excels in:

Using magic and dex weapons.
Using spells and fast weapons.
Dealing a lot of damage rapidly

Pick prisoner if:

You want to be a glass machine gun with rapid damage but low health.

Confessor

The confessor (pictured) is the best starting class if all you care about is fashion.

The confessor is one of the best-looking classes with an amazing broadsword, shield, and spells. This class is the faith version of the prisoner. With urgent heal, you will be able to pop a quick heal without having to use a flask, and with the assassin approach, you can sneak up onto unaware enemies to get that backstab if you so desire. The blue crest heater shield does 100% physical damage absorption so you can rely on blocking more than dodging if you wish.

Confessor excels in:

Freedom of weapon usage with dex and strength at 12.
Being a balanced build with incantations and close-ranged weaponry.
Having the best-looking outfit out of all the classes.

Pick confessor if:

You’re new and want to use incantations without being a full faith/mage build.
You want to switch between strength and dex weapons.
If you want a balanced starting character with high faith.

Wretch

Wretch, (pictured) for the chads.

Wretch is for the GigaChads out there, with the lowest starting level you will have total freedom in making your character as you start with nothing but a club. If you want a real challenge at the start of the game, the wretch is the class you're looking for. With not even having clothes you will be at a great disadvantage, this is why this class is recommended for players with some experience with previous Fromsoftware titles.

Wretch excels in:

Being easy to level up.

Pick wretch if:

You want a harder time in the early game.
You want to be extremely vulnerable at the start of the game.
A clean slate to your build.

5. Arcane Mage

Undead Arcane Mage creates a new portal to Dalaran.

Knowledge is power; who cares about the rest!

Leveling or doing old content is really fun and easy using this spec! Arcane Mages don’t have self-healing skills, so keep an eye on your health bar! Summoning your Arcane Familiar and using the option of burst damage spells Arcane Power, Touch of the Magi, and Rune of Power to show your enemies the true meaning of fear in 10 seconds!

Why Arcane Mage Is Great For Solo:

You can easily clean old dungeons or raid trash mobs only using Arcane Explosion every time and everywhere!
In Torghast, you can solo easier than the other Mage specs!
Your mobility is good, and your rotation is great!

4. Holy Priest

If the light doesn’t cure, it kills!

Since I started playing WOW, I never had a bad day soloing content with this spec! Holy Priest is known as a slow but strong dps for solo; being the best in healing and shielding will forever keep you safe and with full HP almost every time. Soloing Torghast or leveling is something you can do while relaxing and drinking hot cocoa, you are a mini tank! The damage rotation is effortless to learn and doesn’t ruin your rate if you make a small mistake while casting!

Why Holy Priest Is Great For Solo:

Apotheosis will increase your stats for some seconds in combat!
Smite, Shadow Word: Pain and Holy Fire are all that are needed to kill mobs.
Your damage and self-healing skills are what you need to keep alive and kill many enemies!

3. Fury Warrior

The first letter in a Fury Warrior’s alphabet is AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Questing and Torghast are a paradise for combat enthusiasts! Users of two two-handed weapons, the Fury Warriors are masters of multi-target damage! Keep Battle Shout active and your life will be easier playing WOW, the Fury rotation may be a little confusing sometimes for newbies but don’t give up; once you get the timing, you will feel confident even soloing elite enemies!

Why Fury Warrior is Great For Solo:

You can kill enemies quickly and will not put your HP in danger!
You have multiple defensive abilities to use when necessary!
The high mobility this spec has is the key to never dying in combat against multiple enemies!

2. Vengeance Demon Hunter

Eat demons for breakfast and go to fight!

Vengeance Demon Hunter is a high damage Tank spec that speaks for itself in solo content! This class spec has significant self-healing, damage reduction, awesome mobility, and enemy control! It has great AoE damage, which is great for leveling and endgame, strong and frequent cooldowns, and excellent resistance! Mark of Chaos increases magical damage that is taken!

Why Vengeance Demon Hunter Is Great For Solo:

The most mobile of all tanks is here!
You have a fun rotation full of advantages when choosing the right talents!
Vengeance Demon Hunters can hold challenging content by the great sustain and blasting damage!

1.- Protection Paladin

Protection Paladin after watching Avengers Endgame!

Here you are, the Captain America of WOW!

Using the Light as a resource, Protection Paladin is a great solo Tank spec for having a strong self-healing and defense! Generate holy power defeating each enemy in front of you; the Hammer of Justice is hungry! EmpowerStrenght up your defense with Shield of the Righteous and maintain your HP with Word of Glory! Your AoE is the strongest of all tanks in WOW!

Why Protection Paladin Is Great For Solo:

Defensive skills increased by powerful auras!
Immunity is your triumph card!
Great emergency cooldowns like Lay on Hands and Divine Shield for dangerous moments!
